TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHENEVER THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED A TURN OF WHEN DECELERATING. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC AND THE DEALER TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED HOWEVER, THE DIAGNOSTICS WAS UNABLE TO GENERATE A FAILURE CODE. AS A PRECAUTION, THE DEALER CLEANED THE GROUND CABLE BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000 AND THE APPROXIMATE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 89,000. UPDATED 6/4/13 *CN
DEALER INSTRUCTED ME THAT THE FRONT AND REAR MOTOR MOUNTS WERE CRACKED ON A CAR WITH LESS THAN 100K MILES. THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER CHRYSLER'S POWERTRAIN OR EXTENDED WARRANTY. THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH CHRYSLER'S MOTOR MOUNTS. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE CAR SIMPLY TURNED OFF (ENGINE STOPS JUST LIKE YOU TURNED THE KEY TO OFF). TOTAL LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKING. COASTED TO SIDE OF ROAD, WHERE CAR WAS RESTARTED. THIS PROBLEM IS SIMILAR TO A PROBLEM IN MAY 2012 WHEN THE CAR WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS TURNED ITSELF OFF. STORED CODE AT THE TIME WAS C121C. DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE CAUSE IN MAY 2012. *TR
INFORMED DURING ROUTINE STATE INSPECTION STRUTS NEEDED REPLACING. BROUGHT VEHICLE TO SOUTHERN CHRYSLER JEEP. DEALER REPLACED STRUT MOUNTS AND STRUT BEARINGS, INFORMED THAT THEY WERE "COMING APART". SERVICE ADVISER SAID THE STRUTS ON THOSE VEHICLES WERE "A PIECE OF SCRAP , BUT YOU DIDN'T HEAR THAT FROM ME". INFORMED THAT THEY HAVE A LOT OF PROBLEM WITH THOSE. WHY IS THERE NO RECALL? YOU CAN SEE FROM THE MILEAGE, I DON'T DRIVE LONG DISTANCES, I DON'T RUN OVER POTHOLES OR DRIVE ON ROCKY ROADS. *TR

THE CONTACT MERGED TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. ALSO, THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE REPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,250.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, A STRANGE NOISE WAS HEARD THEN THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHO INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THE TRANSMISSION CASE HAD BURST AND WAS LEAKING OIL. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE TRANSMISSION CASE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BUT THE PARTS WERE NOT READILY AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED WHO STATED THERE WAS NO RECALL AND OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.

THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND BEGAN TO FLASH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,915.

THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 06V432000 (POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM, PCM) THAT COULD HAVE BEEN RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
DRIVING AT <15MPH AND AT >45MPH SPEEDS THE WHOLE CAR SHUTS OFF. NO ENGINE LIGHTS NO WARNING JUST CUTS OFF. STILL CONTINUING THE ISSUE HAS BEEN LOOKED AT AND SINCE NO LIGHTS ARE ON THEY CANT FIND IT. I HAUL MY 3 GRANDDAUGHTERS IN THIS CAR AND THE SAFETY WORRIES ME ABOUT IT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE THREE FUEL PUMPS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. SIX MONTHS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 61,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS OF 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO DRAG AND FEEL HEAVY. IN ADDITION, THE GEARS WOULD NOT SHIFT CORRECTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE MOTOR MOUNTS COLLAPSED, CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION TO FALL AND REST ON THE FRAME OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE MOTOR MOUNTS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MOTOR MOUNTS WERE REPAIRED THREE TIMES PRIOR TO THE MOST RECENT FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 87,500. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT INTO THE REVERSE POSITION AND STALLED INTERMITTENTLY WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. A DIAGNOSTIC REVEALED THE FRONT AXLE SEAL WAS DEFECTIVE. AT APPROXIMATELY 3,800, THE SMOKE CONDITION DEVELOPED AGAIN AND THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT THE POWER TRANSFER UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AT 25,893, THE POWER TRANSFER UNIT HAD TO BE REMOVED AND REPLACED AFTER IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK IN AN INPUT SEAL. AT 26,906 MILES, THE ENGINE MOUNT WAS REPLACED; AT 48,062 MILES, THE BLOWER MOTOR WAS REPLACED; AT 48,490 MILES, THE BLEND AIR DOOR OF THE BLOWER WAS REPLACED AND THE REAR AXLE SEALS WERE REPLACED DUE TO LEAKS; AT 63,852 MILES, THE PVC VALVE, FUEL PUMP, EGR VALVE AND BATTERY WERE REPLACED AND A SHORT IN THE WIRING TO THE ALTERNATOR WAS REPAIRED; AT 65,479, THE VEHICLE BROKE DOWN AND HAD TO BE TOWED. IT WAS DETERMINED THE COMPUTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AT 82,439 MILES, THE MOTOR MOUNT FAILED AND WAS REPLACED, AN ISOLATER WAS INSTALLED AND POWER TRANSFER UNIT WAS LEAKING AGAIN. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER, AFTER DRIVING IT FOR 15 MINUTES, BECAUSE IT WAS IN WORSE CONDITION THAN WHEN SHE LEFT IT WITH THE DEALER. THE ENGINE WAS RACING AT 6000 RPMS, WHILE DRIVING AT 50 MPH, THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE AND A BANGING NOISE COULD BE HEARD UPON TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. THE DEALER STATED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. HOWEVER, WHEN THE CONSUMER DROVE THE VEHICLE FOR 20 MILES, THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, AND AFTER AN INSPECTION, THE DEALER STATED THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE RELAY WAS FAULTY. THE CONSUMER WAS ASSURED THE ISSUES WERE FIXED. HOWEVER, ON HER WAY HOME, THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN, THE ENGINE WAS RACING AND THE ENTIRE VEHICLE JOLTED EVERY TIME SHE SHIFTED INTO, DRIVE, PARK OR REVERSE. THE POWER DOOR LOCKS FAILED AND THE CONSUMER WAS LOCKED INSIDE THE VEHICLE FOR SEVERAL MINUTES.

THE CONTACT STATED WHILE LOADING THE VEHICLE, THE REAR LIFT GATE REACHED ITS MAXIMUM OPEN POSITION AND IMMEDIATELY BEGAN TO CLOSE MAKING CONTACT WITH THE CONTACTS SHOULDER. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO A CHRYSLER DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 54,000. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE GAUGE WOULD READ THAT THE TANK WAS HALF FULL THEN DROP TO EMPTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE A 23 GALLON TANK, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD ONLY TAKE 11 GALLONS. ALSO, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD SPEW GASOLINE BACK OUT WHEN BEING FILLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
WHILE STOPPED AT INTERSECTION A VEHICLE TRAVELING AT 40 TO 60 MPH TRIED TO TURN THE CORNER AND STRUCK OUR VEHICLE IN THE LEFT FRONT CORNER. THE COLLISION TOTALED THE VEHICLE MAKING THE TURN. AT THIS TIME THE INSURANCE CO. HASN'T DECIDED WHETHER TO TOTAL OURS OR NOT. THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH FRONT AIR BAGS, UNDER DASH LEG AIR BAGS AND FULL SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS. NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT WITH THE DIRECTION OF THE IMPACT THAT ALL AIR BAGS WOULD HAVE DEPLOYED, INSTEAD OF NONE. *TR
I PURCHASED MY 2007 PACIFICA IN 2009 WITH ABOUT 30,000 MILES FROM CHRYSLER, ELK GROVE, CALIFORNIA. UPON REACHING ABOUT 57,000 MILES, WHEN ACCELERATING, I WOULD HEAR LOUD METAL BANGING FROM THE ENGINE AREA. I WOULD ALSO FEEL A HARD JOLT WHEN ACCELERATING. AFTER VISITING CHRYSLER, ELK GROVE SERVICE CENTER, I WAS TOLD THAT 3 OF MY PACIFICA ENGINE MOTOR MOUNTS FAILED AND NEEDED IMMEDIATE REPLACEMENT AT ABOUT $1000.00 DOLLARS. I ASKED IF THIS PROBLEM WOULD OCCUR AGAIN AND WAS TOLD I SHOULD HAVE NO FURTHER PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINE MOUNTS BY CHRYSLER, ELK GROVE. I PAID FOR REPLACEMENT. AT APPROXIMATELY 105,000 MILES, I BEGAN TO HERE LOUD METAL POUNDING AFTER ACCELERATING FROM THE ENGINE AREA. I COULD HEAR METAL KNOCKING WHEN I SLOWLY DROVE OVER BUMPS IN THE STREET. I COULD ALSO FEEL MY CAR GIVE A HARD JOLT WHEN ACCELERATING. AFTER VISITING THE CHRYSLER, ELK GROVE SERVICE CENTER, I WAS TOLD 3 OF THE ENGINE MOUNTS FAILED AND NEEDED IMMEDIATE REPLACEMENT FOR $1083.00 DOLLARS. I TOLD THE SERVICE PERSON THAT I HAD THE SAME SERVICE REPAIR AND WAS TOLD THERE WOULD BE NO ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS. CHRYSLER SERVICE REPLIED THE ENGINE MOUNTS ON THE CHRYSLER FAIL DUE TO WEAR AND TEAR. MY CONCERNS ARE I DONT FEEL SAFE KNOWING THAT MY ENGINE IS NOT PROPERLY SECURED TO THE FRAME OF MY VEHICLE. CHRYSLER SERVICE ALSO TOLD ME DRIVING WITH FAILED MOUNTS WILL LEAD TO OTHER PROBLEMS. THERE IS NO WARNING WHEN THESE ENGINE MOUNTS WILL FAIL. THE SERVICE MANUAL DOES NOT MENTION THESE PARTS SHOULD BE INSPECTED FOR WEAR AND TEAR AT CERTAIN INTERVALS OR MILES. PLEASE HELP WITH FAILED MOTOR MOUNTS.

SHE DOES NOT LIKE TO START ABOUT 2% OF THE TIME AND DOES SO AFTER RUNNING THE SHIFTER UP AND DOWN A FEW TIMES. FIRST WEEK IN JUNE I SENT MY CHRYSLER PACIFICA TO ATHENS DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP IN BOGART GA. THE STEERING WAS LOCKING UP ON MY WIFE. I FIGURED IT WAS MAYBE THE POWER STEERING. THE TECH INFORMED ME THAT THE MOTOR MOUNTS WERE AGAIN BROKEN AND THEY REPLACED THE RIGHT ONE FOR THE THIRD TIME. I READ IN SOCIAL CAR CHAT ROOMS THAT THE MOTOR MOUNTS ARE FAILING IN JUST ABOUT ALL THESE TYPE CARS, AND THAT CHRYSLER WAS NOT GOING TO COVER THE COSTS. I NOW HAVE A CAR THAT NO ONE WILL BUY OR AT LEAST I WOULDN'T BECAUSE IT CAN'T HOLD ITS OWN ENGINE. I KNOW THIS IS A CONSUMER CONCERN JUST WANTED TO POINT THAT OUT. WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 10-35 MPH, THE OIL AND ESP LIGHTS WOULD ILLUMINATE, THEN THE ENGINE WILL SIMPLY CUT OFF / STALL. WE HAVE TO PUT ON THE EMERGENCY FLASHER WHILE IN TRAFFIC, PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL OR PARK AND RESTART. NO ENGINE LIGHT. WE BROUGHT THE PACIFICA IN TO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP 5 TIMES AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY CODES. THEY TRIED UPDATING THE SOFTWARE ON THE ECM WHICH DID NOT HELP. THEN, THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE MOTOR MOUNTS WERE BAD AND THE TORQUE OF THE ENGINE WAS PULLING ON THE FRONT WIRING HARNESS(ES), CAUSING THE STALLING ISSUE. WE HAD ALL 3 (FRONT, REAR, UPPER) ENGINE/MOTOR MOUNTS REPLACED AND THE ISSUE STILL HAPPENS EVERY TIME WE TRY TO DRIVE THE CAR. THE DEALERSHIP HAS THE CAR AGAIN AND SAID THE FRONT MOTOR MOUNT STILL LOOKS LIKE IT IS BAD EVEN THOUGH IT WAS REPLACED 4 DAYS AGO. BASED ON WHAT I'VE READ IN THE NHTSA DATABASE AND THE DODGE DEALERSHIP TELLING ME THAT MOTOR MOUNTS GO OUT ON A LOT OF PACIFICAS, THIS IS HAPPENING TO A LOT OF 2007 PACIFICA OWNERS. CHRYSLER SHOULD ABSOLUTELY RECALL THE MOTOR MOUNTS ON THIS VEHICLE AND PROVIDE A MORE RELIABLE REPLACEMENT MOTOR MOUNT WITH A ROBUST DESIGN AT NO CHARGE TO ALL PACIFICA OWNERS. MY WIFE HAS REPORTED THAT SHE HAS ALMOST BEEN REAR ENDED SEVERAL TIMES AS A RESULT OF SUDDENLY STALLING WHILE DRIVING. WHEN THE GAS GAUGE GOES DOWN TO A HALF A TANK THE GAGE GOES ALL THE WAY TO EMPTY. VERY ANNOYING BECAUSE I HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH GAS I REALLY HAVE. THEN WHEN I TRY TO FILL IT UP IT TAKE ABOUT 15 MINUTES TO GET $20.00 WORTH OF GAS IN THE TANK. IT WILL ONLY TAKE ABOUT 25 CENTS AT A TIME BEFORE THE GAS PUMP SHUTTS OFF AND I HAVE TO WAIT A COUPLE SECONDS FOR THE GAS TO GO DOWN THE FILLER TUBE. ALSO I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE MOTOR MOUNTS. HE HAS REPLACED MY MOTOR MOUNTS A TOTAL OF 4 TIMES IN LESS THAN A YEAR. MY PACIFICA STILL SHIMMIES AND SHAKES WHEN ACCELERATING BETWEEN 40-50 MPH. WHEN I RELEASE THE GAS, IT WILL STOP, BUT SOMETIMES SHIMMIES WHEN I TOUCH THE GAS AGAIN. PASSED 50 MPH, THE CAR DOES NOT SHIMMY AND SHAKE. *TR
WE OWNED A 2007 CHRYSLER PACIFICA CAR FOR 3 MONTHS, 46000 MILES APPROX, WHEN PURCHASED. AFTER THE FIRST 3 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP, THE REAR TIRES WENT COMPLETELY BALD , WIRES POKING OUT, THE CAR WAS BOTTOMING OUT ON EVERY BUMP. THE SPRINGS WERE WEAK WE WERE TOLD. THE SHOCKS WERE BROKEN, THE TIRES WERE COMPLETELY OUT OF LINE AND THE DEALER DID FIX AT THEIR OWN EXPENSE. 2 NEW TIRES REPLACED , WHEEL ALIGNMENT, TWO NEW SHOCKS, AND SUPPOSEDLY SPRINGS FIXED. AT APPROX. 8 MONTHS LATER THE VEHICLE WAS AGAIN BOTTOMING OUT. ONCE AGAIN WE WERE TOLD SHOCKS BROKEN. CHRYSLER WAS CONTACTED AND REPLACED SHOCKS, DEALER DID WHEEL ALIGNMENT AND A TIE ROD END WAS REPLACED. IN APPROXIMATELY 10 MONTHS WE AGAIN NOTICED THE CAR WAS MAKING NOISE AND BOTTOMING OUT. ONCE AGAIN SHOCKS WERE BROKEN AND THE OTHER TIE ROD END NEEDED REPLACING. CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE WAS NOTIFIED FROM THE FIRST INCIDENT AND SUBSEQUENTLY AT EACH ADDITIONAL OCCURENCE. THE DEALER PAID AT THE FIRST OCCURENCE, CHRYSLER PROVIDED SHOCKS AT SECOND OCCURENCE, ON THE LAST OCCURENCE CHRYSLER REQUIRED AN INSPECTION BY A CHRYSLER DEALER. ANOTHER TIE ROD WAS REPLACED. WE WERE TOLD BY DEALER CAR WAS GOOD TO GO. WE TOOK TRIP TO PICK UP FAMILY AT AIRPORT AND HAD TO BE TOWED. UPON REINSPECTION 2 DAYS LATER, WE WERE TOLD 2 STUDS HAD COMPLETELY BROKEN OFF LEFT REAR TIRE, AND TIRE COULD HAVE COME OFF ON FREEWAY AT SPEEDS OF 65 MPH. THEY ALSO DISCOVERED TWO LUGS ON RIGHT REAR TIRE WERE LOOSE. THIS WAS THE SECOND INCIDENT WHERE OUR SAFETY WAS AT RISK. 4 SETS OF SHOCKS 2 TIRES 2 TIE ROD ENDS AND 3 WHEEL ALIGNMENTS LATER. CHRYSLER WAS GOING TO MAKE ME PAY FOR THE REPAIRS AND I FOUGHT THEM ON IT AND THEY AGREED TO PAY FOR THE PARTS AND I PAID LABOR AND THE CAR IS STILL STALLING. I HAVE READ ONLINE HUNDREDS OF OTHER COMPLAINTS FOR THEIR PACIFICA STALLING AND DOING THE SAME THING MINE IS. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE 2005/2006 VEHICLES FOR THE SAME THING BUT NOT FOR THE 07 MODEL. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW CHRYSLER CAN IGNORE THIS PROBLEM WHEN SO MANY PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE AS THE VEHICLES THAT WERE RECALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO CONFIRMED THAT THE ENGINE MOTOR MOUNTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE DTC CODE INDICATED A FAULT IN FUEL EVAP SYSTEM. A SMOKE TEST ON THE SYSTEM REVEALED THAT THE PLASTIC TUBE ON THE FUEL PUMP HAD SNAPPED OFF REQUIRING A FUEL PUMP REPLACEMENT. THE FUEL PUMPS ARE CONNECTED BY A HOSE WHICH SITS ON TOP OF THE FUEL TANK. THE CONNECTION POINT AT THE ON THE PRIMARY FUEL PUMP SNAPPED OFF. THE FUEL PUMP, AND TANK IS MOUNTED ABOVE THE EXHAUST SYSTEM, SO IT'S PROBABLY NOT AN IDEAL SITUATION TO HAVE DEFECTIVE PARTS LEAKING SMALL AMOUNTS OF GASOLINE ON TOP OFF HOT EXHAUST. ALSO,AFTER COMPLETING REPAIRS MY GAS MILEAGE IMPROVED BY 10%. I HAVE SAVED THE DEFECTIVE PART INCASE ITS NEEDS FOR FAILURE ANALYSIS. *TR
HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING A CLUNK FROM THE RIGHT WHEEL WELL FOR A FEW WEEKS. HAD MIDAS LOOK AT IT LAST WEEK WHILE REPLACING FRONT BRAKES, BUT THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING. THIS WEEK, WAS GETTING OIL CHANGE AND TRANSMISSION FLUSHED. MENTIONED THE NOISE AGAIN, AND THIS TIME WAS TOLD THE NOISE WAS DUE TO ENGINE MOUNT FAILURE OF THE LEFT AND RIGHT ENGINE MOUNTS. I IN TURN CALLED MY LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP SINCE I PURCHASED MY CAR WITH THE LIFETIME POWER TRAIN WARRANTY AS WELL AS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, AND WAS TOLD THAT NEITHER ONE OF THESE WOULD COVER THE REPLACEMENT. THEN, CHRYSLER PROCEEDED TO QUOTE ME A REPLACEMENT COST THAT WAS $300 OVER MY MIDAS QUOTE. I ASKED THE TECHNICIAN, "DOESN'T THIS SEEM TO BE A PREMATURE FAILURE, SINCE I ONLY HAVE 67,000 MILES?" TO WHICH HE REPLIED, "YES IT DOES." HE ALSO SAID THE REASON THIS PART IS NOT COVERED IS BECAUSE IT IS CONSIDERED A "CONSUMABLE" PART. REALLY? CAN I BUY THAT WITH MY OIL? BUT, BASED ON ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS I HAVE SEEN ABOUT THIS ON NUMEROUS WEBSITES, ENGINE MOUNTS ARE AS CONSUMABLE AS BRAKE PADS WHERE CHRYSLER IS CONCERNED. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I TOLD THE TECHNICIAN THAT I WOULD NOT BE TAKING MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THIS REPAIR. I CAME HOME AND DECIDED TO GOOGLE THIS PROBLEM TO SEE IF IT WAS A COMMON OCCURRENCE, AND OH MY! CHRYSLER NEEDS TO RECALL THE ENGINE MOUNTS AND REFUND THEIR CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE HAD TO PAY FOR THESE REPAIRS SINCE NONE OF THEIR WARRANTIES SEEM TO! TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR PRODUCT. FAILED MOTOR MOUNTS. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF A 2007 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE MOTOR MOUNTS HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. CHRYSLER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. AND THEY STATED THAT NO RECALLS HAD BEEN ISSUED. MILEAGE AT THE TIME OF DIAGNOSIS WAS 59,000. AS THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF THE BASIC WARRANTY, AND MOUNTS ARE NOT COVERED UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY, I WAS TOLD I HAVE NO COVERAGE FOR REPAIR OF THIS KNOWN DEFECT. MANUFACTURER SUGGESTED THAT I PAY FOR THE REPAIR AT THE DEALERSHIP, AT THE WILDLY INFLATED DEALER PRICING, AND THEN THEY WOULD SEE IF THERE WAS ANYTHING THEY COULD DO REGARDING A POSSIBLE PARTIAL REIMBURSEMENT AFTER THE FACT. I MAY HAVE BEEN DUMB ENOUGH TO BUY A CHRYSLER, BUT I'M NOT THAT DUMB. AN ESTIMATE FROM A PRIVATE GARAGE WAS 50% LESS. A REVIEW OF THIS SITE AND THE BROADER INTERNET SHOWS THIS TO BE A KNOWN AND COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES. HOW MANY OF THESE FAILURES NEED TO BE REPORTED BEFORE A RECALL IS ISSUED? *KB

A SMOKE TEST ON THE SYSTEM REVEALED THAT THE PLASTIC EVAP TUBE ON THE FUEL PUMP HAD CRACKED REQUIRING A FUEL PUMP REPLACEMENT. UPON REASSEMBLY IT WAS DETERMINED THAT OVER TIME THE RUBBER EVAP HOSE THAT RUNS BETWEEN THE TWO FUEL PUMPS WAS EITHER TOO SHORT OF HAD SHRUNK IN LENGTH OVER TIME STRESSING THE PLASTIC TUBE CAUSING IT TO BREAK. WHEN RECONNECTING THE RUBBER HOSE IT WAS APPARENT THAT THE HOSE WAS TOO SHORT BECAUSE WHEN THE HOSE WAS RECONNECTED THE EVAP FITTING WAS PULLED SEVERAL DEGREES OFF CENTER. THERE ARE TWO FUEL PUMPS ON THIS MODEL YEAR VEHICLE. ON ONE PUMP THE PLASTIC TUBE HAS A 90 DEGREE BEND AND THE DEFECTIVE PUMP PLASTIC TUBE DOES NOT HAVE A 90 DEGREE BEND. THIS FUEL PUMP WAS A BACK ORDERED ITEM INDICATING NUMEROUS FUEL PUMP ARE BEING REPLACED. TWO CHRYSLER MECHANICS, WHO DID NOT WORK ON MY CAR, STATED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND THEY HAVE REPLACED A NUMBER OF FUEL PUMPS RECENTLY. CHRYSLER DOES NOT COVER THIS REPAIR UNDER THEIR EXTENDED WARRANTY AND NO TSB'S OR RECALLS HAVE BEEN ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE THE MECHANIC CONFIRMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS FAILING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED SEVERAL TIMES WITHOUT WARNING. THE OIL PRESSURE AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED AFTER THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WOULD START AFTER A FEW MINUTES AND WOULD RETURN TO NORMAL FUNCTION AFTER WAITING SEVERAL MINUTES AFTER THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED BUT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE A FAILURE CODE. THE DEALER ALSO TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND WAS ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,892 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 76,500.
