WHILE DRIVING IN THE MOUNTAINS WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON. DRIVING DOWN HILL THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES TO DOWNSHIFT. AS IF FLOORING THE GAS TO MAKE THE CAR DOWNSHIFT. I MUST TURN OFF CRUISE CONTROL AND TAKE CONTROL OF THE ACCELERATOR. THE PROBLEM ALSO OCCURS WHILE CRUISE CONTROL IS OFF BUT NOT AS OFTEN. COME DRIVE IT WITH ME AND IT WILL HAPPEN TO YOU. OTHERWISE I LOVE THIS CAR BUT THESE SITUATIONS ARE SCARY. THIS IS HIGHWAY DRIVING ON I 70 OR 285.
THIS HAPPENED ON 2 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. ON ONE OCCASION WE WERE STOPPING ON A RED LIGHT AND WHEN WE WANTED TO ACCELERATE AGAIN ON A GREEN LIGHT THE VEHICLE STALLED AND ENGINE WAS ABOUT TO TURN OFF BUT DID NOT. ON ANOTHER OCCASION THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED OK BUT SHORTLY AFTER IT STARTED STALLING FOR FEW SECONDS AND DECELERATED SIGNIFICANTLY BEFORE GAINING SPEED AGAIN. IT TOOK MORE THAN 5 SECONDS TO GAIN SPEED AND ACCELERATE AGAIN.
DATE OF INCIDENT 11/29/2017: WE HAVE A 2017 CHRYSLER PACIFIC WITH 17,000 MILES. WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN, CAUSING A MINOR COLLISION. CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP DID A SCAN AND FOUND NO ERROR CODES. *BF UPDATED 8/16/18*JB
VEHICLE SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING AND CANNOT BE RESTARTED UNTIL IT COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP. VEHICLE HAS STOPPED RUNNING WHILE SLOWING DOWN FOR A LIGHT, IT HAS STOPPED AFTER GETTING OFF EXPRESSWAY AND WHILE DRIVING THROUGH A PARKING LOT. IN THE LAST TWO MONTHS IT HAS STALLED AT LEAST 10 TIMES.
BACK IN NOVEMBER 2017, MY FAMILY AND I WERE DRIVING 70MPH ON THE FREEWAY AND THE CAR'S DASHBOARD LIGHT ALL TURNED ON AND STARTED BLINKING. THE CAR LOST POWER FORCING ME TO QUICKLY PULL OVER AND AVOIDED ANOTHER CAR FROM COLLIDING. THE SERVICE LIGHTS TURNED ON. I TURNED OF THE IGNITION AND TURNED IT BACK ON. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP THE FOLLOWING DAY. THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST BUT COULD NOT PULL ANY CODES OF THE INCIDENT. I SAW THE RECALL ANNOUNCED A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE FIX FOR THIS RECALL WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL 2ND QUARTER OF 2018. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR, ESPECIALLY WITH MY KIDS ON BOARD. WE PURCHASED THIS CAR FOR ITS SAFETY RATING, NOW WE ARE DRIVING A DEATH TRAP.
ON 4 OCCASIONS I LOST ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. I PUSH ON THE GAS AND THE CAR WON'T GO. IT JUST STOPS OR STALLS. THE POWER IS ON BUT CAR WON'T GO. I SEEM TO LOSE SOME POWER STEERING. TWICE THIS WAS WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN WITH TRAFFIC COMING TOWARD ME ON A BUSY STREET. I WAS STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD . FINALLY THE VAN BEGAN TO WORK AGAIN AND SHOT ME FORWARD ABRUPTLY. TODAY 11/27/17 I BROUGHT IT TO CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP. THEY ARE TELLING ME A SOFTWARE UPDATE WILL FIX IT BUT I'M SKEPTICAL AND AFRAID TO DRIVE IT.
CAR, WITH NO WARNING, LOST ALL ACCELERATION WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH AND FLASHED SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS ON DASHBOARD INCLUDING ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION WARNING, SERVICE FORWARD COLLISION WARNING, AND ELECTRONIC PARK BRAKE FAILURE. IN ADDITION, THE SHIFTER KNOB LIGHT BLINKS AND SWITCHES TO 'P'. AT THAT POINT, I CAN ONLY DRIFT THE CAR TO A STOP. IN MY CASE I WAS ABLE TO TURN THE CAR OFF, THEN RESTART IT AND THE ISSUE DID NOT OCCUR AGAIN FOR ANOTHER 4 DAYS. AFTER 4 DAYS, THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED, THIS TIME WHILE I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. TOOK THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THEY PERFORMED A SOFTWARE UPDATE ON THE TRANSMISSION AND THE CAR WAS FIXED. I GOT ABOUT 1 MILE FROM THE DEALER AND THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES PER HOUR. DROVE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY HAVE THE CAR NOW AGAIN TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG.
MY VAN ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS WILL ACCELERATE WHILE I'M DRIVING AND I CANNOT GET IT TO STOP UNLESS I PULL OVER AND SHUT OFF. ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS I WAS GOING DOWN A HILL AND THE VAN ACCELERATED AND THEN SHUTOFF ON ITS OWN. THE ACCELERATION NOISE WAS SO LOUD. I GLIDED DOWN THE REST OF THE HILL AND HAD TO PULL OVER AND RESTART. I'VE BEEN BRINGING IT TO DEALER FOR THIS ISSUE SEVERAL TIMES AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE. SAYING THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE. THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER ISSUES ALSO.
WITH ONLY 7300 MILES ON THE ODOMETER, AS OF THIS WRITING 11-21-17, MY PACIFICA HAS FAILED TO START ON 4 SEPARATE OCCASSIONS. WITH EACH EVENT, ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS ON THE MAIN AND RADIO DASH LIT UP AND FLASHED ON AND OFF. ALSO, THE WIPER BLADES CAME ON AND STAYED ON, NOT BEING ABLE TO SHUT OFF WITH THE DESIGNATED SWITCH. AS WELL, NUMEROUS "WARNING WINDOWS" POPPED UP ON THE CENTER DASH INFO SCREEN...SERVICE ELECTRONIC STABILITY, PARK BRAKE UNAVAILABLE, BLIND SPOT ALERT UNAVAILABLE SERVICE REQUIRED, SERVICE TIRE PRESSURE SYSTEM, PARK SENSE UNAVAILABLE, SERVICE AIR BAG SYSTEM, WARNING BELLS CONSTANTLY CHIMING, ENTIRE DASH GOES COMPLETELY DARK AND RADIO TURNS OFF AND ON BY ITSELF. THE LAST ATTEMPT TO START, 11-20-17, AFTER NUMEROUS TIMES IN AN HOURS TIME, THE ENGINE DID START ONLY TO SHUT DOWN ALMOST IMMEDIATELY. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TOWED TO MY LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP TWICE NOW AND IS STILL THERE AS OF THIS WRITING. ON THE FIRST EVENT WHEN TOWED IN, I WAS TOLD THAT A SERVICE WRITER ALSO COULD NOT ATTEMPT TO START THE VEHICLE, BUT WHEN THE SERVICE TECH TRIED, IT DID START. I WAS TOLD TO COME PICK UP MY VEHICLE THAT THERE WERE NO ERROR CODES FOUND AND MY VEHICLE WAS OPERATING NORMALLY. I REALLY DREAD THE DAY WHEN MY PACIFICA DIES WHILE DRIVING, AS THAT APPARANTLY HAS HAPPENED TO MANY DOZENS OF OTHER 2017 PACIFICAS ALREADY, PLACING THE OCCUPANTS IN EXTREME DANGER. I JUST READ AN ARTICLE IN THE NEW YORK TIMES WITH REGARDS TO THIS DANGEROUS ISSUE AND I NEAR THE POINT OF DEMANDING THAT CHRYSLER BUY BACK MY VEHICLE. I DO HAVE MULTIPLE VIDEOS TAKEN ON MY CELL PHONE BUT DO NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO UPLOAD THEM JUST YET.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 CHRYLSER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF POWER AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO TEXAN DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM (18555 EASTEX FREEWAY SERVICE RD, HUMBLE, TX) WHERE THE FAILURE WAS DIAGNOSED AS A SOFTWARE MALFUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 19,000.
WHILE DRIVING WITH MY FAMILY, INCLUDING THREE SMALL CHILDREN, THE VEHICLE SHUT ITSELF OFF. NO ELECTRICAL, POWER STEERING, POWER BRAKES OR ENGINE. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT STARTED AGAIN AFTER COMING TO A STOP. AFTERWARDS THE SCREEN SAID THAT THE START/STOP SYSTEM WAS DISABLED.
MY WIFE AND I WERE RETURNING FROM A TRIP TO AN APPOINTMENT AROUND 2:30 IN THE AFTERNOON. WE JUST EXITED OFF INTERSTATE 395 AND WERE MERGING INTO TRAFFIC HEADING EAST ON DUKE STREET. THE LIGHT CHANGED TO YELLOW AND REQUIRED US TO STOP MORE AGGRESSIVELY THAN I TYPICALLY WOULD. WE WERE TRAVELING IN A STRAIGHT LINE AND HAD TO DECELERATE FROM 20 MPH TO COMPLETE STOP WITHIN A MATTER OF APPROXIMATELY 10 FEET. ONCE OUR VAN CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP THE CAR SHUT OFF. I DIDN'T NOTICE ANY MESSAGE ON THE SCREEN, BUT WHEN I RELEASED THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE STARTED AGAIN. AFTERWARDS, I THOUGHT BACK TO THE PREVIOUS STOP AND THOUGHT I NOTICED SOME HESITATION IN ACCELERATION, BUT DIDN'T REALIZE IT UNTIL AFTERWARDS. THE CAR WAS ONLY PURCHASED A MONTH AND A HALF AGO AND WAS PURCHASED NEW. UNFORTUNATELY I DO NOT HAVE ANY PHOTO EVIDENCE OF THE CIRCUMSTANCES AND THE VEHICLE DID NOT PRESENT A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE DEALER WE PURCHASED FROM STATED THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WE WERE TALKING ABOUT, BUT OFFERED WE MAKE AN APPOINTMENT AND THEY WOULD CHECK THE VEHICLE.
ZF 9 SPEED TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY DISENGAGES AT SLOW SPEEDS PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR SLOW AND ROUGH WHEN OPENING.
ON 11-15-17 MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR 2017 PACIFICA, WHEN SHE WAS PARKING (PULLING IN) IT SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND HIT A POLE. I HAD THE DEALERSHIP DO A SCAN CODE AND THERE WERE NO ERROR CODES. I JUST WANT TO LET YOU KNOW IN CASE THERE ARE OTHERS REPORTING THE SAME PROBLEM.
VEHICLE SHUTS OFF AT STOP LIGHTS/SIGNS.THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES WHILE STATIONARY.HAD TO PLACE TRANSMISSION IN PARK AND RESTART.
WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE ESS FEATURE OF THE VEHICLE TYPICALLY STOPS THE ENGINE TO REDUCE CO2 EMISSIONS AND SUPPOSEDLY SAVE ON GAS. AS SOON AS I RELEASE THE BRAKES, THE ENGINE RE-STARTS AND OFF I GO. HOWEVER, IN THIS INSTANCE, AFTER I LET GO OF THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE BEGAN ROLLING BACKWARDS, WHICH CAUSED ME TO STEP ON THE BRAKES RIGHT AWAY OR I WOULD HAVE HIT THE CAR BEHIND ME. I LET GO OF THE BRAKES AGAIN, THEN THE ENGINE RESTARTED AS USUAL. THIS IS VERY CONCERNING AND A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE.
THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING. DISPLAY SAYS ENGINE START/STOP UNAVAILABLE. ENGINE WONT RESTART UNTIL START/STOP SYSTEM IS AVAILABLE AGAIN. ENGINE SHUTS OFF RANDOMLY, EVEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. DID IT ON THE HIGHWAY, GOING DOWN CITY STREETS AT 30MPH, AND EVEN DID IT BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY.
AFTER SITTING AT A RED LIGHT I ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE FORWARD WHEN THE LIGHT CHANGED AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE AND I GOT A MESSAGE ON THE DRIVERS CONSOLE THAT SAID "SHIFT TO P TO DRIVE" I ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT BUT THE KNOB WOULDN'T TURN AND SO I HAD TO TURN THE CAR OFF,SHIFT TO PARK THEN TURN THE CAR BACK ON AND THEN SHIFT BACK INTO DRIVE TO MOVE FORWARD. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE NOW WITHIN THE SPAN OF 3 DAYS. THE CAR HAS ROUGHLY 4.5K MILES ON IT...UPDATED 11/14/17 *BF UPDATED 11/16/2017*JS
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THIS VAN WITH TWO KIDS WHEN THE VAN STALLED WHILE TURNING. AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
THE FIRST TIME I DROVE THE VEHICLE IT ALMOST STALLED MAKING A LEFT INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE AUTO START STOP WAS SHUT DOWN BY ME AT THE NEXT INTERSECTION. THEN THE START STOP LIGHT CAME ON THE WARNING SYSTEM DISPLAY. I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE AUTO START STOP SYSTEM FROM FIRST DAY OF OWNERSHIP AND HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES WITH ABOUT 350 MILES ON IT. ANOTHER TIME THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER AS IT WOULD NOT START AT ALL AND THE DASH SAID SERVICE SHIFTER. I HAVE ASKED THE DEALER TO REPLACE THE CAR AND THEY SAID THEY WILL ASK CHRYSLER, AS I BOUGHT IT FOR MY WIFE AND SHE IS AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. IT IS THE TOURING L MODEL. I HAVE HAD TWO DIFFERENT LOANER PACIFICAS WITHOUT AUTO START STOP, WITH NO ISSUES. I REQUESTED THE REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVE CALL ME ABOUT THIS SAFETY ISSUE ON A SURVEY FORM BUT NO RESPONSE.
TRANSMISSION-HAS VERY JERKY OPERATION AT 1-2 OR 2-3 SHIFT, ACTS LIKE IT GOES INTO PARK OR LOWER GEARWITH A LURCH. FEEL LIKE YOU HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED. VERY CONFUSED OPERATION THAT LOTS OF CHRYSLER, DODGE, JEEP CUSTOMERS HAVE REPORTED.DEALER UPDATED TCM WITH LATEST SOFTWARE, PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. DEALER STATES THE LURCHING WHEN ACCELERATING AND LETTING OFF ON THE GAS IS NOT A PROBLEM, I DISAGREE AND THINK IT IS A SAFETY PROBLEM WITH ALL FIAT VEHICLES USING THE NEW 9 SPEED TRANSMISSION.THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE(MORE THAN 20 TIMES) IN THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNERSHIP.
INFOTAINMENT SCREEN FREEZES AND/OR JUMPS AROUND AND WILL NOT LET THE USER CHANGE TEMPERATURE CONTROLS, ADJUST RADIO FUNCTIONS, ALLOW HANDS-FREE CALLS, OR ACCEPT ANY INPUTS AT ALL. THIS CREATES A DISTRACTING AND EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING EXPERIENCE WITH ABSOLUTELY NO WAY TO CONTROL THE SYSTEM. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN PRESENT SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE IN MARCH2017. EVEN AFTER NOTIFYING FCA ABOUT THE ISSUE THROUGH THE DEALER, UCONNECT WEB CUSTOMER SERVICE PORTAL, AND CHRYSLER CARES CONTACTS IT IS STILL UNRESOLVED. A SOFTWARE UPDATE RELEASES IN LATE SEPT 2017 FAILED TO CORRECT THE ISSUE.
2017 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO UNINTENDED ACCELERATION RESULTING IN MORE THAN $4,000 IN REPAIRS. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURES. *JS
IT STARTED ABOUT A MONTH OR SO AFTER WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE AFTER A COMPLETE STOP THE VAN FEELS LIKE IT'S TRYING TO STALL THEN TAKES OFF SO HARD IT FEELS LIKE WE'VE BEEN REAR-ENDED. WE'VE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER MANY TIMES & NEVER GOT FIXED. THEY KEPT PUSHING IT OFF & EVEN IGNORING ME. THEY FINALLY GAVE ME CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE #A MONTH AGO SO I CALLED & GOT A CASE. CHRYSLER FINALLY CALLED ME & SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO EVEN THOUGH IT'S STILL UNDER WARRANTY. WE LOOKED UP THE LEMON LAW & REALIZED THEY IGNORED US BECAUSE WE WERE SUPPOSED TO START A CLAIM WITHIN 18 MONTHS OF PURCHASE WHICH WAS LAST MONTH.
THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE NINE SPEED TRANSMISSION. OCCASIONALLY WHEN SHIFTING FROM FIRST TO SECOND WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THERE WILL BE A LOSS OF POWER TO THE WHEELS EVEN THOUGH THE GAS PEDAL IS STILL ENGAGED. AFTER A SECOND OR TWO THE TRANSMISSION WILL SHIFT ROUGHLY INTO THE NEXT GEAR WITH A GREAT LURCH. IT FEELS LIKE ANOTHER VEHICLE HAS NERFED YOU IN THE REAR BUMPER. THE LURCH IS THAT STRONG. CHRYSLER SAYS THERE IS NO BULLETIN ABOUT THE PROBLEM. THEY CLAIMED THEY REFLASHED THE COMPUTER BUT THAT DID NOTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE ABRUPTLY JERKED FORWARD WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PARKWAY CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (21560 HALL ROAD, CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MICHIGAN 48038, (586)-800-3578) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT NO FAILURE WAS FOUND. THE DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE QUICK LEARN AND THE CLEAR SHIFT ADAPTER. THE CONTACT WAS UNSURE IF THE PARTS THAT WERE REPROGRAMMED WERE FOR THE TRANSMISSION OR THE ENGINE; HOWEVER, THE REPAIR DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000.
WHILE EXITING A CAR WASH THE REAR SUNROOF WAS BLOWN OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING SLOWLY THROUGH THE CAR WASH AND WAS UNDER THE DRYER WHEN IT HAPPENED. THERE WAS A THUMP AND SMALL PIECES OF SAFETY GLASS WERE BLOWN OVER THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE MANAGER SPECULATED THAT MAYBE A ROCK BLEW OUT OF THE DRYER. IT IS CURRENTLY AT A COLLISION CENTER WHERE THE MECHANIC HAS VACUUMED THE GLASS OUT OF THE BACK SEAT AND IS LOOKING FOR ANY FOREIGN OBJECTS. I DON'T THINK THERE WERE ANY ISSUES WITH THE GLASS PREVIOUSLY. I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT. FORTUNATELY NO ONE WAS INJURED.
VAN WAS IN DRIVE, BUT STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION ON A CITY STREET WAITING TO TURN LEFT. WHEN LIGHT CHANGED I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE AND ENGINE DID NOT ENGAGE. BLUE LIGHT ON GEAR INDICATOR STARTED FLASHING. I WAS ABLE TO PUT CAR IN PARK THEN SHIFT INTO DRIVE AGAIN, BUT THERE WAS LAG WHEN ACCELERATING. I DROVE OUT OF INTERSECTION AND INTO PARKING LOT. SHUT OFF CAR THEN RESTARTED AND DROVE IT DIRECTLY TO DEALER. STILL WAITING FOR PROBLEM TO BE ASSESSED. ON 2 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS OUR CHRYSLER PACIFICA HAS "STALLED OUT" WHILE WE WERE DRIVING. BOTH INSTANCES OCCURED WHILE WE WERE ON A HILL. THE FIRST WAS PULLING UP INTO A DRIVEWAY AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AND WE TRIED TO PULL FORWARD. THE SECOND HAPPENED WHEN WE WERE ON THE ROAD AT A STOP SIGN FACING UPHILL. AS WE STARTED TO TRY AND DRIVE FORWARD FROM THE STOP SIGN, THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. IN BOTH INSTANCES, THE CAR HAD TO PUT IN PARK AND RESTARTED. WE HAVE ONLY HAD THE VEHICLE A LITTLE OVER TWO MONTHSAND THERE WERE LESS THEN 2,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE.
MINIVAN WAS AT A STOPLIGHT AND TURNED OFF WITHOUT WARNINGS. THIS JUST HAPPENED 30 MINS AGO. VEHICLE ASKED TO BE PUT IN PARK AND HIT BRAKE TO START ENGINE. ENGINE STARTED PARKED AT NEAREST PARKING LOT AND CALLED DEALER. DEALER 2 MILES AWAY NO CODES CAME UP ON SCAN THAT WAS DONE. ..UPDATED 11/07/17 *BF UPDATED 11/09/2017*JS
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND SLOWING DOWN TO APPROACH A RED LIGHT. AS SHE WAS SLOWING, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED TOTAL SYSTEMS FAILURE. THE TOUCH SCREEN DISPLAY BECAME SCRAMBLED, STEERING WAS UNRESPONSIVE AND THE VEHICLE SLOWED TO A STOP. MY WIFE WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE, SHIFT GEARS OR TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. THREE POLICE OFFICERS PUSHED THE VAN INTO A NEARBY PARKING LOT. DURING THIS TIME NO ONE WAS ABLE TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF OR SHIFT GEARS. FINALLY, THE CAR ESSENTIALLY REBOOTED ITSELF AND ALL SYSTEMS SEEMED TO RETURN TO NORMAL. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 10-27-17, 12 DAYS AFTER PURCHASE WITH APPROXIMATELY 400 MILES. THE CAR HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR 6 DAYS NOW AND NO PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN FOUND. THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM AND NO ERROR CODES WERE FOUND. THIS MEANS THE CAR HAS NOW BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR 1/3 OF THE TIME THAT HAS PASSED SINCE WE FIRST DROVE OFF THE LOT. THIS FAILURE IS DISTURBINGLY SIMILAR TO NUMEROUS OTHER COMPLAINTS THAT HAVE BEEN FILED. THANK GOODNESS MY WIFE WAS SLOWING DOWN WHEN THIS HAPPENED OR IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AND EVEN DEATH. I REFUSE TO ALLOW MY WIFE OR CHILDREN BACK IN THIS VEHICLE WITH SOMETHING SO CATASTROPHIC HAPPENING AFTER SO FEW MILES. I HAVE OPENED A CASE WITH CHRYSLER AND WAITING FOR THEM TO GET BACK TO ME. I HOPE A FORMAL INVESTIGATION IS STARTED SOON AND CHRYSLER ACKNOWLEDGES THE ISSUE TO PROTECT THE SAFETY OF EVERYONE.
WHILE DRIVING, THE ENGINE STOPS AND THE DASHBOARD AND SHIFTER LIGHTS START BLINKING. THE MESSAGE "VEHICLE MUST BE IN PARK TO SHIFT GEARS" DISPLAYS ON THE DASHBOARD. THIS IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS AND HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES NOW. OUR FAMILY WAS ALMOST STRUCK BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. UPDATED 11/9/2017*JS
WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AT A LOCAL DEALERSHIP IN JULY 2017. IN AUGUST, VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING COMMUNICATION UNEXPECTEDLY. DEALERSHIP WAS ABLE TO RESTORE POWER STEERING, HOWEVER, THEY WERE NOT ENTIRELY SURE OF THE CAUSE. IN OCTOBER, THE VEHICLE LOST ELECTRICAL COMMUNICATION AND WAS STUCK ON A BUSY HIGHWAY OFF-RAMP AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP LIGHT. WE WERE UNABLE TO MOVE THE CAR FOR 30 MINUTES. DEALERSHIP UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE AND ADVISED US THAT THE CAR COMPANY SAID THEY NEEDED TO GIVE US THE CAR BACK. THE CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR A TOTAL 22 OF DAYS AND NOTHING WAS FIXED THE SECOND TIME TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN.
THE 2ND AND 3RD ROW ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH PROPER CAR SEAT INSTALLATION.

VEHICLE PURCHASED IN DECEMBER 2016 FOR $44,000 FROM SAFFORD OF FREDERICKSBURG. ON OCTOBER 14, 2017, I WAS DRIVING WITH MY WIFE, THREE CHILDREN AND MOTHER-IN-LAW AND EXPERIENCED A LOUD MALFUNCTION THAT RENDERED THE CAR INOPERABLE. LUCKILY WE WERE NOT ON THE HIGHWAY AT THE TIME AND THE VEHICLE WAS EVENTUALLY TOWED TO SAFFORD OF FREDERICKSBURG, VIRGINIA FOR REPAIRS. THE RIGHT FRONT AXEL HAD RUPTURED (TOTAL MILES ON THE CAR WERE 8,311 AT THAT TIME). THE SERVICE AGENT (JIM BOGAN) NOTED THAT THIS HAD BEEN FLAGGED ON OTHER OCCASIONS AS IDENTIFIED ISSUES AT OTHER SERVICE DEPARTMENT REQUIRING THE NEXT "GENERATION" OF AXEL ASSEMBLY PARTS FOR THE REPAIR. SHORTLY AFTER RECEIVING THE VEHICLE, WE RETURNED TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP TO ADDRESS A LOUD GIRDING NOISE ALSO ASSOCIATED WITH THE RIGHT FRONT AXEL. IN EARLY DECEMBER, 2017 WE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED ONCE AGAIN TO SAFFORD OF FREDERICKSBURG WHERE THEY AGAIN HAD TO REPAIR THE RIGHT FROM AXEL. INTERMITTENTLY AND OVER THE PAST YEAR WHILE THESE ISSUES WERE OCCURRING, WE CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE ELECTRONIC ISSUES WITH THE SLIDING DOORS AND REAR LIFT HATCH AS WELL. THE UCONNECT ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM WILL ALSO MALFUNCTION FROM TIME TO TIME. SEVERAL SOFTWARE UPDATES HAVE BEEN INITIATED, ADDRESSING WINDOW AND TRANSMISSION CONCERNS ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT. YET, THE VEHICLE DOES NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY, WHERE IDLE AND TRANSMISSION FUNCTIONING OFTEN APPEARS COMPROMISED (ROUGH IDLE, ROUGH SHIFTING, SUDDEN RPM INCREASES AND ACCELERATION BURSTS WHEN SHIFTING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE). I FEAR THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE FOR MY WIFE AND THREE YOUNG CHILDREN.
HESITATION THEN LURCHING WHEN INITIATING ACCELERATION AT LOW SPEEDS. LOUD CRANKING/SCRAPING NOISE WHEN RELEASING ACCELERATOR AT SPEEDS GREATER THAN 40MPH. TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED BY DEALERSHIP FOR "BURNT FLUID" TWICE, BUT PROBLEM REMAINS. VEHICLE'S TACHOMETER AT TIMES SHOWS RPMS GOING UP TO 6000 WHEN DECELERATING.
PULLED PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR HANDLE, DOOR OPENED, PUSHED BUTTON ON PULLER POST , DOOR CLOSED, AND OPENED UP AGAIN ON IT'S OWN . VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. SEE ALSO 1029966
I WAS DRIVING ON THE STREET THANKFULLY AT A LOWER SPEED ABOUT 25 MPH AND THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY GAVE OUT. IT THEN CAME BACK RANDOMLY WHILE TURNING. IT DID THAT MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO THE DEALER. I HAVE BEEN TOLD IT IS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. IT HAS BEEN 2 1/2 MONTHS AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIX IT. I DO HAVE A LOANER. I HAD A CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE CASE BUT THEY HAVE CUT OFF ALL CONTACT WITH ME.

WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD MY VEHICLE EXPERIENCED COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER. I HAD TO MANUALLY STEER IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES IT RESTARTED AND RAN FINE. THIS HAPPENED RIGHT AT 6000 MILES AND AGAIN AT 6973 MILES, SAME SCENARIO WITH BOTH. THE DOORS AND RADIO IS ALSO ACTING ODD. I BELEIVE THERE IS SOME SORT OF ELECTRICAL ISSUE. BOTH TIMES BEFORE THE VEHICLE POWERED DOWN I WAS GOING 70 +MILES AN HOUR, HEAT CAME ALL THE WAY ON AND POWER SHUT DOWN. MY STAR # IS 1728582. CHRYSLER TOLD ME MAYBE I WAS DRIVING TO FAST???? MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON A CITY HIGHWAY AT A NORMAL RATE OF SPEED DURING RUSH HOUR AND THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF AND THE VEHICLE ABRUPTLY SLOWED. THE DASH BOARD THEN SHOWED A MESSAGE THAT READ "SHIFT TO P TO START." THANKFULLY SHE WAS ABLE TO STEER THE CAR TO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT BEING HIT BY ANOTHER DRIVER. AS SOON AS THE CAR CAME TO A FULL STOP SHE WAS ABLE TO TURN THE ELECTRONIC SHIFTER TO PARK AND RESTART THE CAR.
ENGINE SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DECELERATING FOR A STOP SIGN ON A SLIGHT UPHILL GRADE, A BLOCK AFTER TURNING ONTO A SIDE STREET. THERE WAS NO DRAMA; IT JUST SHUT OFF. THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DISPLAYED A MESSAGE WITH INSTRUCTIONS TO SHIFT TO PARK BEFORE PRESSING THE START BUTTON. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES OVER THE SPAN OF 10 MINUTES BEFOREHAND, AT BOTH CITY AND HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE SPEED BEFORE BRAKING FOR THE STOP SIGN WAS UNDER 20 MPH, AS IT WAS MAYBE 100 FEET UP THE BLOCK AFTER A TURN. AFTER PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN PARK, THE ENGINE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED AND THE VEHICLE DRIVEN NORMALLY, WITH NO INDICATION THAT ANYTHING HAD HAPPENED....UPDATED 11/14/17 *BF UPDATED 11/16/2017*JS
THE CAR WILL JOLT WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. USUALLY BETWEEN 1ST AND 2MD FEAR, THE CAR WILL TEMPORARILY STOP ACCELERATING, WHILE THE RPMS HOLD, THEN JOLT FORWARD WHEN THE CAR FINALLY SHIFTS. IT FEELS AS IF YOU HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED. IT MOST OFTEN HAPPENS WHEN I AM TURNING, BUT ALSO HAPPENS GOING STRAIGHT FROM A STOP. PROBLEM STARTED AROUND D 20,000 MILES, HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES, WITH 2 SOFTWARE UPDATES AND NO SOLUTION.
ALL WARNING LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING ON THE DASH. ENGINE AUTOMATICALLY CUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. STARTED UP CAR AGAIN AND DROVE FOR A MILE THEN ENGINE CUT OFF AGAIN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT A SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS PERFORMED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
SINCE WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW IN SEPTEMBER 2017, WE KEEP HAVING ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING. IT WILL SHIFT SO HARD YOU FEEL AS IF YOU WERE HIT FROM BEHIND. ITS NOT ONLY NERVE WRECKING BUT SCARY. IT DOES THIS WITHOUT WARNING, USUALLY ABOUT 10 TO 25 MPH, THAT IS ENOUGH TO CAUSE WHIPLASH AT THAT RATE. ITS TO THE POINT, I M AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE NOT KNOWING WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN NEXT. IT DOES THIS WHETHER YOU ARE DRIVING ON THE CITY STREETS OR HIGHWAYS. WE HAVE SPOKE TO FIAT CHRYSLER AND GREVE DEALERSHIP WITH NO RESULTS.
