"Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon" Message and vehicle stopped in the middle of the highway.
In May 2025 shortly after purchasing this vehicle I had complete Brake failure while driving down the road. I was driving approximately 65 mph when the forward collision warning, ABS warning, Brake Warning, Auto Emergency Brake warning lights came on and when I pushed on the brake pedal it was hard as a rock and wouldn't stop the vehicle. It was returned to the purchasing dealership, and they replaced the Brake Booster. On November 27th of 2025 I was driving down the road and the exact same problem occurred with a complete loss of brake function. It went to the local Chrysler Dealership; they replaced the Master Cylinder. I picked it up 12/10 drove it 5 miles home and parked it. I got in the vehicle the next morning to go to work and on my way to work all the same dash lights came on and I had a complete loss of Brake function. It was towed back to the dealership again; this time they replaced the ABS module. I picked it up on 12/30 drove 5 miles home, parked it, tried to leave 3 hours later and couldn't push the brake pedal far enough to get the van started. When I did finally get it started all the same dash lights were on and the brakes were not functional. It was towed back to the dealership again and this time they replaced the wiring Harness. I picked it up 1/16. Drove it minimally over the weekend, on 1/19 the front-end collision warning lights came on and the check engine light came on while driving 70 mph. The brakes didn't lose function this time, however. The following day I was sitting in line at an elementary school waiting to pick up my daughter when all the same dash lights came on again and I had a complete loss of brakes, it was towed back to the dealership, where it still is. There was contact made with Chrysler engineering during the 2nd repair. The dealership has been able to recreate the problem more than once since they have had it. This put myself and my children a significant risk of injury, and other cars if there was an accident.
While traveling at highway speeds, vehicle enters into "limp" mode with an in-dash warning "Stop Safely. Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon" warning and a red turtle warning symbol above the drive indicator. The vehicle immediately stops sending power to the wheels and it must be safely pulled over to the side. This was brought into the dealership for service and the car was returned as "repaired." But this has not been fixed. After the initial occurrence, this has re-occurred multiple times, most recently on 06/19/2025 and 06/21/2025.
At Random, the dashboard will light up with a red brake light, the check engine light, front end collision warning, and the ABS warning light. IT gives me several messages as well. Service electronic stability control, Auto emergency Braking Active Braking off, Auto emergency Braking unavailable Service Required. When this happens the brake pedal is impossible to push and it takes every ounce of power to get the vehicle to stop. This is no warning that this is coming and it happens most often when you are driving. This puts myself and my family at risk as well as everyone that is driving near me when this happens. It has been repaired 6 times by 2 different dealerships, and it still isn't fixed.

stowing the 2nd row seat breaks the headrest. there are plastic washers in the headrest that break when the 2nd row seat is stowed more than once.
A message appeared on the dashboard stating the engine would shut off soon. I could not accelerate. This has happened multiple times (at least a dozen since I bought the vehicle in April 2025) and I cannot drive above 70 mph or it will cause the issue to occur. Several times I have been in multi-lane traffic and because you cannot accelerate, I have to try to park on the should across multiple lanes of traffic at high rates of speed while slowing down.
Headrest does not stay in the upright position in the 2nd row due to manufacturer defect. My child is supposed to sit there and now there is no headrest, thus putting his safety/life at risk. This defect has been frequently reported across multiple forms on the internet of other vehicles with the same make and model experiencing the SAME defect.
In 2024, our vehicle displayed a critical warning stating: “Stop safely. Vehicle will shut off soon.” While driving on the highway, the vehicle began losing engine power—a terrifying and dangerous experience. We immediately took it to the dealership, where they diagnosed a transmission failure and proceeded to replace the transmission. Unfortunately, we are now experiencing the same issue again this year. The vehicle continues to lose power and shut off while in motion on the highway, creating an extremely hazardous situation that nearly resulted in a serious accident. This ongoing malfunction poses a significant risk to the safety of drivers and passengers. Chrysler must take immediate responsibility by recalling these vehicles and replacing them with safer alternatives to prevent further danger to human life.
I bought a 2022 Pacifica Hybrid in October 2022. About 2 months ago(Feb 2025), while I was driving on the [XXX] highways, my car suddenly showed "Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon" and a turtle symbol. At this time, I was driving 70 MPH and the car started to slowly stop. Then, I tried to drive into a nearby Starbucks to check it out. I turned off the car. Everything was OK such as oil, coolant, a/c, windshield. Then I restarted the car and the "Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon" and the turtle symbol were gone. I thought it was okay, so I continued driving. 5 days ago (XXX), I had a trip to San Antonio. When I was driving close to Austin. My car showed "Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon" and the turtle symbol again. At this time, I stopped on [XXX]. I feel very dangerous for me, my wife and my 2 children. I feel very scared and confused when I am driving on [XXX] and the car stops like that. I feel like our lives are in danger while driving. Then "Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon" and the turtle symbol appear more frequently. My car has appeared "Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon" and the turtle symbol 6 times in 3 days. Yesterday was [XXX]. When I parked in my driveway, "Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon" and the turtle symbol also appeared. Every day, I must take my 2 children to school in my 2022 Pacifica Hybrid. Now, I feel very scared when driving. I do not know when "Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon" and the turtle symbol will appear again and will cause an accident for my family. We sincerely hope that you will consider and request Chrysler to help us check and fix this as soon as possible. Thank you very much. My wife was driving our 2022 Pacific PHEV Limited with 4 kids on board suddenly went into limp mode while driving northbound south of [XXX] on [XXX]. Turtle signal was on dash with just seconds to get off freeway on limp mode. Pacifica had to be towed to Woodhouse Chrysler in Sioux City where it remains to this day. Changed PCIM and remains in limp mode. Chrysler approved hybrid transmission repair under hybrid warranty but dealer found not repairable and needs new transmission. Now Chrysler refusing to have transmission replaced under warranty. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
When driving on hybrid mode with battery charged up suddenly warning message showing “Transmission Failure” and message saying “Stop Safely Vehicle is going to shut off soon”. Breaks don’t work as normal when this happens and vehicle wouldn’t stop immediately. Feels unsafe to drive. Engine warning lights turn on and stay for a day after this happens. Checked with dealership and they mentioned recall is still being worked upon and not yet available. Tried reaching MOPAR directly but no response yet.
My 2022 Pacifica Hybrid is experiencing a known transmission issue as identified in TSB 21-042-24 My VIN falls squarely within the build date window. The bulletin instructs dealers to replace the transmission—not rebuild it. I am refusing an inferior repair that contradicts the manufacturer’s own instructions. I am requesting immediate escalation, in writing, confirming that my vehicle will receive a factory-new transmission in accordance with the TSB
Traveling at 70mph, the car displayed a message to "stop safely, vehicle will shut off soon". Code P0A43 DRIVE MOTOR A POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT INTERMITTENT" was pulled. The van can not be driven safely on the road without the car alerting the driver that it will shut off soon.
MAY CAR HAS STARTED REPEATEDLY FLASHED CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS AND WARNING SIGNS THAT THE VEHICLE IS ABOUT TO SHUT OFF SOON AND TO STOP SAFELY WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE BECOMES UNRESPONSIVE AND I HAVE TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY. AFTER TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE I AM ABLE TO RESTART AND CONTINUE DRIVING WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON FOR NEXT 2 TO 3 STARTS. THE DEALER HAS ALREADY ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR THIS LAST YEAR BY REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION, BUT THE PROBLEM STILL REMAINS AND HAS NOT BEEN FIXED. THE DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE AS THERE WAS NO ACTIVE CODES WHEN IT WAS BROUGHT INTO THE SHOP. SINCE THAT VISIT IN EARLY MARCH 2025, IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN. I BELIEVE THIS IS RELATED TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN 23V010 AND CHRYSLER RECALL 03A
When reverse is engaged the screen goes blue and says camera unavailable... This is a current recall for this year and radio ...however it says 0 recalls
Driving on the highway at 70 MPH. Car stated "Stop Safely. Vehicle Will Shut Off." Check engine light came on. Dash light of a turtle with an exclamation point displayed. Pulled over and turned car off. Was able to turn vehicle back on and get back on the road. However, issue would recur every 5-7 miles. Eventually stopped at a hotel for the night and left car at a dealership. Car is currently being looked at. No contact from the dealership yet.
Both middle bench seat head rests will not stay upright, making it unsafe for any passenger to ride in thise seats. Happened after folding the seat forward for passengers to get into the back seat. Infotainment system does not work and touch screen will not work. Unable to connect amazon fire and unable to even play DVDs on the screens.
I was driving down the highway. The check engine light comes on. Then a warning comes on that say prepare to stop the car will shut down. This is a hybrid. The electricity is depleted but the gas tank is half full. After turning the car off i can run it for a little while and then the same warning comes back.
Subject: Urgent Safety Concern – Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid (VIN: [XXX] ) Dear NHTSA, I am writing to report a serious safety issue with my 2022 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid (VIN: [XXX] ). The vehicle experiences sudden power loss due to the following error codes: P079A-00 (transmission issue), P0A43-00 (hybrid battery issue), and P0A7D-00 (battery voltage issue). These problems have nearly caused accidents, including: On the highway: Power loss while overtaking, leaving me in a dangerous situation. In city traffic: Repeated power loss, almost causing collisions. The issues are well-documented among Pacifica Hybrid owners in the USA. NHTSA has received numerous complaints, and there are active class-action lawsuits due to unresolved problems. My vehicle was involved in a minor collision in the USA, classified as "clear title" (cosmetic damage only, no impact on the drivetrain or battery). Repairs were done professionally, and there is no connection to the current issues. I have contacted Chrysler and the authorized service center in Berlin, but received no response. This issue poses a direct safety risk, and I urge NHTSA to investigate and ensure a permanent solution. Attached: Error codes and incident descriptions. Correspondence with Chrysler and the service center. Documentation of the collision and repairs. Thank you for your attention. I look forward to your prompt response. Sincerely, [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact called on behalf of the owner of a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica. The vehicle was an Adaptive Vehicle. The owner received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V436000 (Back Over Prevention); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated while reversing, the rearview camera image was blurry on some occasions, and was completely black on other occasions. The contact stated that the black image remained displayed while driving the vehicle. Additionally, the infotainment system made an abnormal sound and displayed a glitchy screen that prevented the contact from using the functions of the infotainment system. The local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the part was not yet available. The failure mileage was approximately 43,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
During 3 separate drives (October11, 2024; December 30, 2024, and January 2, 2025) the vehicle shut off while going uphill on an interstate while the engine was at 3,000 RPM. When I pulled over to the side of the highway and stopped the car, the emergency parking break automatically came on. I had to restart the vehicle 2 or more times in each instance. On January second, the vehicle shut down 5 separate times, some on Interstate 70 and some on US Route 40, all while going uphill between 2000 and 3000rpm. I took it to a local Chrysler dealer January 8th, but they could not recreate the problem or explain why the vehicle was shutting off with no warning.
The headrest on the third-row seat is loose and does not stay in the upright position. In the event of an accident, this could pose a serious risk to passengers, as their head could move forward, and the headrest may fall down, potentially causing neck injury or further harm.
While driving on a busy freeway, a warning light appeared: "Stop safely vehicle will soon shut down" Loss of power in such a situation is dangerous. This happened on three separate occasions during the same trip yesterday. It happened once about a month ago and when we brought it to the dealer, they said it was some sort of computer glitch. On each occasion, after pulling off the road and shutting the car off, we were able to restart and drive normally -- until it happened again. We are taking it to the dealer today. Needless to say, we will not drive the vehicle until this is fixed, because we could be placed in an even more dangerous situation.
I was renting this vehicle. On my way home on the highway, going about 70 mph, the vehicle suddenly illuminated the check engine light. Soon after, an message appeared on the dash warning me that I needed to stop and that the vehicle would shut off soon. I immediately pulled over and turned at the next county road. However, I did not realize until this point that my engine power was now being limited to almost nothing. As I crossed a railroad crossing and realized I didn't have engine power, I just hoped that I'd be able to cross and not end up dead on the tracks. Thankfully there was still enough engine power being made available to me to cross the tracks safely and park further down the road. I then turned off the vehicle, called the rental emergency hotline, and was actually able to start the vehicle again at that point without the error. However, the check engine light was still illuminated. I drove the rest of the way home with the check engine light on, but had no other encounter of the message warning me that the vehicle would shut off soon.
When I was on highway, the dash suddenly displayed a notification that asks me to pull over safely because the vehicle would shutdown soon. I had to follow the instruction to pull over on the side of the highway before the vehicle lost propulsion.
The contact owns a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that the rear passenger’s seats headrests failed to remain in an upright position. The contact stated that the headrests were not able to be raised into positions and locked to accommodate passenger's necks and back of the heads. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 81,000.
This vehicle is 2 years old. It died while I was away from home. It was diagnosed as needing two new batteries. This is the 3rd Chrysler vehicle that I have had to replace batteries in. One vehicle required two battery replacements. This is an ongoing issue, it has to be a known issue. There needs to be some accountability with Chrysler
Wheel Bearing failure at 70,000 miles. Almost caused a head on crash.
Oil filter gets stripped on oil cooler housing and cracks and leaks damaging engine.
When driving on the interstate highway with about 70 mph a warning message “Service hybrid electric vehicle system” appeared. The high voltage battery charging level was less than 1%. About 30 minutes later, after exiting the highway, another warning message was displayed: “Stop Safely Vehicle will shut off soon”. After about 30s later the motive power was stopped and the car continued rolling. There was no propulsion power anymore, and I was only able to roll into the entrance of a parking lot. Luckily it was a relatively safe location where the vehicle came to a stop. I was alone in the car and was not in direct danger. The vehicle could not be restarted. I called a towing service, and the car was transported to a Chrysler dealership. The fault codes were read out. Chrysler Star recommended to replace a 350 A fuse. The dealership service team drove the car for more than 70 miles without being able to reproduce the fault after this repair. One day after collecting the car from the dealership I drove about 300 miles on the highway. After about 250 miles the warning message “Service hybrid electric vehicle system“ appeared. The high voltage battery charging level was less than 1%. When driving on the highway with about 55 mph, about 150 miles after the warning message appeared, the motive power stopped inadvertently without any warning. I felt a short impulse on the gas pedal, then while rolling at below 50 mph the message “Switch P to start engine“ was displayed. I managed to roll out from the 3rd lane from the right to the emergency stopping lane. It was a dangerous maneuver and I feared for the safety of my five family members traveling with me in the car as the oncoming traffic behind my car didn’t slow down even after switching on the hazard lights. The vehicle could not be restarted and I had to call a towing service to transport the vehicle to the nearest Chrysler dealership. Now I am waiting for the service team to start reading out the failure codes.
The contact owns a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that the transmission was slipping. Additionally, the brakes were making an abnormal squeaking sound. The Lane Departure warning light was illuminated. The TPMS warning light was illuminated. There was an abnormally loud rattling sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.
The vehicles transmission malfunctions causing the vehicle to lose complete power, now without warning. We are unable to accelerate and the vehicle comes to a sudden stop. This vehicle shuts down in the middle of the highway causing us to come to a complete stop while driving on the highway, also on back roads one lane roads, the vehicle completely shuts down causing us to block the road and becomes a hazard. This has been a continuous problem. This will now be the fifth time it has been to the repair shop for the same exact problem. It is covered under the warranty, however, when they fix it, it happens right away within two business days, again without warning causing us To be in danger and becomes a hazard anytime we drive the vehicle. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealership service center many times. They also sent out an engineer from their company to inspect it. We now have no warning like before the problem occurs only after the vehicle loses power. This will be the third complaint I've filed for this same issue. after it's been "fixed and inspected" this last time.
Driving down highway on a business trip. Van flashed on screen with message to pull over immediatley and showed a red turtle. This was dangerous as I was in the far left lane and had to quickly pull over. Then to sit on the side of the highway and wait for a tow truck. With my 3 children in the car, I did not feel safe. Vehicle was sent to dealer where the kept for 6 days and only reset the codes and told me it was good to go. This vehicle has a known defect in the transmission.
while driving all warning lights came on on the dashboard. said pull over, car will stop. car would not move . after a while it would start again and warning cleared. had scan done . multiple communication failure codes for multiple modules. had codes cleared. waiting for next time. chat forums indicate this is common and usually leads to the can buss star connector defective where the multiple modules plug in.
My vehicle is in perfect shape with no body damage and fewer than 28,000 miles. Today I was at a very busy intersection and when the car attempted to restart , it suddenly decided that my hood was open and it would not restart. It left me stranded. I ended up thinking quickly and pulling the hood latch exiting my vehicle and pushing the hood down. The vehicle it has the feature that stops the engine when I stop at a stop light. I do not think that the hood was open. I had it in for service over a month ago, that would have been the last time that anyone opened the hood. I was stranded, had to exit my vehicle in a very high traffic area. Luckily, the car restarted when I tried again. This default position is very dangerous. I turned off the feature that shuts off the engine at a stop. I understand a warning that the hood is open, but I do not understand stopping the vehicle from starting and placing the driver in a very dangerous position

The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V436000 (Back Over Prevention); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
The contact owns a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal knocking noise detected. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the rack and pinion steering needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 49,424.
While driving the car on two separate occasions a warning flashed "Pull over, car will shut down" appeared. Car immediately began to decelerate and shut off. After turning car off was eventually able to get it restarted.
It was a rental car, driving on freeway , warning light will come up , saying engine will shut off. The Van had no power, and I had to pull over. I turned off the car for 2-5 minutes and restart. Then the car will accelerate again. I had to drive from LA to Las Vegas. It started doing that after Loma Linda , CA [XXX] , on [XXX]). It took me 7 hours to get to Las Vegas. Because of the constant shut off warning. I had no choice but to do this because SixT rental car couldn't get another car to me for 5-6 hours wait. While driving the vehicle, received a message to stop safely vehicle will shut off soon. The car stops responding to the gas pedal and I had to try to quickly find a safe place to park the vehicle. I am lucky that I was not on a major highway at the time as I had three young children in the vehicle. Once stopped I was unable to turn off the van. The vehicle start/stop button was not responding and it took a long time before I was able to turn off the vehicle to try to restart it. The message remained and the car had to be towed to a dealership. It is now with the dealership while they determine the cause of the shut down. This is a serious issue to occur on a relatively new vehicle.
While driving on the interstate, the vehicle suddenly lost acceleration without warning. With several 18 wheelers having to brake and swerve behind us, we had to navigate onto the shoulder of the interstate. We had to wait on the side of the interstate for an hour for a tow truck to take us to the nearest dealership. We took the car into the dealership and they kept it for several days and then reported that the car just needed a new battery (12v, not hybrid). I expressed concern with the dealership and later after contacting Chrysler that a dead battery shouldn't cause the car to suddenly lose acceleration while driving, because that is an obvious safety risk, but was told again it was just a dead battery. I also received no invoice from the dealership and was told that it would be emailed to me as soon as they could since a cyberattack had made them unable to issue invoices.
Shortly into my trip home from work, I entered onto the interstate and accelerated up to speed. Within a minute the vehicle seemed to slow down and I had no power using the accelerator Pedal. The vehicle continued to slow and the gas engine failed to turn on.(this is a PHEV hybrid model). Eventually the vehicle lost all power and I was able to park it along the side of the interstate. The vehicle was still on, AC and electoral systems worked. After about 5 minutes, gas engine spontaneously started back up. I was able to gain speed start bad down the road. Approximately 3 min later, gas engine shuts down and same process occurred. This cycle took place about 6 times before vehicle would not start up anymore and ultimately had to be towed. After a week, dealership is not sure what’s wrong as the transmission has been replaced which did not fix the problem. Dealership is now planning to replace the PIM module although there is an over 45day wait and they are unsure if that will fix the problem.
The recall has still not been remedied Manufacturer Recall Number: 66B NHTSA Recall Number: 24V-436 Recall Status: Recall Incomplete
We were on the interstate. Driving the 80 mph speed limit. Got warning that said stop safety vehicle will shut off soon. I had 4 kids in the vehicle with me. I barely got it onto the shoulder before it completely shut off and would not move. Had to get it towed to nearest dealership 60 miles away. No answers left and now we are stranded. We could have been killed. No warning signs.
On a road trip with my 2022 Chrysler pacifica hybrid with 20k miles, was driving on the freeway when this message came up "stop safely vehicle will shut down". Vehicle immediately lost power and I pulled onto shoulder but was in a bad location to be broken down. Got out check fluids etc, all fine. Then cycled vehicles a few times and was able to limp it to a gas station. Finally got it going again and continued driving. I will now have to tow it home because it is unsafe.
I was driving on highway, speed was about 70mph. All the sudden the dashboard said “ Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon”. Then the car start reducing the speed immediately no matter how hard I tried to accelerate. I stopped in the emergency lane. Shutdown the car. Then restart, I could drive about 30s to 60s, then the error came again. It occurred 6 times in total while I drove out the highway to a safety place in 2 miles.
