NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2023 Chrysler Pacifica. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
The vehicle has been at the dealership multiple times for transmission issues, and the most recent time slammed into park while driving slowly on a side road. It is a known hybrid transmission issue and the dealership just let me know that the manufacturer will not replace the transmission, only rebuild per TSB 21-025-25. I am concerned based on research of others with this issue that the rebuild will not fix the issue and the transmission will shift to park on the highway with my wife driving.
The contact owns a 2023 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V302000 (Air Bags); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. The VIN was invalid.
While driving on interstate, red turtle indicator came on and engine shut down.
On [XXX] while traveling on the interstate the car issued a warning engine light and turtle image to pull off the road as the car would shut off, immediately it had no power, maybe could only go 30 mph. Took the car in on 5/10 which was the earliest appt. Said they did a software update, gave the car back. Took the car again on [XXX] when the same warning appeared again on the interstate, same situation disabled vehicle at high speeds on the interstate and no power. Said they changed a module related to the error and gave me the car back. Yesterday as I was driving on [XXX] 70 mph the car gave the same warning and shut off again, immediately I had no power, 30 mph. The dealer acknowledged my car is not the only one in his shop with this issue. They had my vehicle for nearly a month the time before. This vehicle is not safe to drive on the highways as it can shut off at any time. It's a known problem by Chrysler and their idea of fixing it, is issuing a warning which gives you almost no time to get off the highway before your speed is greatly reduced and even then you're stuck on the side of the highway with cars speeding by in an area with no shoulder or construction zone you'd be stuck in the middle of the road. Someone will wind up dead on the highway, I am lucky that in the 3 times this has happened I have not been hit and have been able to safely get to the shoulder, but I don't see Chrysler being able to fix this issue, the dealership did reach out to the manufacturer each time. I know my car is not the only one that has this issue and I'm concerned for the safety of anyone who owns one of these. A simple google search of this vehicle will show the problem is wide spread. -Ongoing safety recall with no available fix for rear airbags. -I do not feel comfortable using our Pacifica to transport our children when there is a known safety issue that could impact their safety and survival in an accident. -The problem has been known to Chrysler since at least May 2025. It is currently Mid-September, and there is still no fix available. -I am unable to trade my vehicle in due to this recall. -Courtesy Chrysler Dodge in Wyoming, MI has confirmed that there is still no fix available, and they could only buy it from me for "auction pricing" - I find this unacceptable since this is a manufacturer-related problem.
Vehicle Posted Message To; Pull Over and Park Safely As Vehicle Would Be Shutting Down
The van did not transition from electric to gas engine when driving and battery for the electrical engine was depleted. The dash board displayed a red turtle and said slow on dashboard. But it would not drive forward. I was on a hill and the van backed down the hill in reverse. I did this multiple times - turn off van, restart van and try to go up hill, reverse it down hill again. At some point, there was enough electricity for the electrical engine to kick in and I was able to drive home. After the van set for a while, it restarted and I was able to drive it to my ultimate destination 147 miles away. I researched online and found there is a recall for this very thing, but it does not include my car. Why is my life so hard? Its a new van to me.
Vehicle displayed "stop safely, vehicle will shut off soon" followed by a complete lack of power. We managed to get to the side of the highway safely. Vehicle would not turn back on until about 45 minutes later. Before we turned off the vehicle it said service charge port. Check engine light is on, even after we managed to get it started. Currently at the shop, waiting for information on why.

This is a PHEV and upon returning to my vehicle after being plugged into a Rivian public EV charge station I found that the charger handle overheated and smoking. When I left the vehicle 45 minutes earlier it was charging with no issues whatsoever. When I removed that handle, a large piece of the charge terminal came out of the handle a remained attached to my charge port. It was one of the connecting sleeves that melted out of the charger and somehow arc welded itself to the male end of my charge port. I still cannot remove it and so now I am unable to charge my vehicle. I notified the property officials and also notified Rivian, but neither is claiming any responsibility to the damage to my charge port. I took my car my local Chrysler dealer and explained what happened but they denied any fault as well. My vehicle has less than 13k miles and still covered by new car warranty so I thought they might know why that happened. In my judgment what had happened is the charge cable itself had a weak wire or a bad, loose connection to the copper terminal inside the handle that caused high resistance and heat to build, then broke away and bound itself to my charge port once I removed the charge handle. When I try to followup with Rivian, best I can do is communicate with their front line phone customer service (they never allow me to speak with anyone authorized to make decisions about the matter), however Rivian did fix their public charger after the incident, but they're seem uninterested in assisting a fix to my vehicle, which I feel they are at fault So have claimed Chrysler had had charge port issues but they are denying assistance. I have an estimate of around $980.00 to repair my charge port, but neither Rivian nor Chrysler warranty are willing to make repair. I feel victim here, used equipment as advertised but being denied product liability claims by both parties, Rivian and Chrysler.
While exiting an interstate, the van felt like it had popped out of gear and lost power, and the instrument cluster had the message "Stop safely, vehicle will shut off soon." I was in the middle of three lanes on the ramp, and due to traffic and no shoulder I was unable to stop off the side of the road. The van died at the top of the ramp at the traffic light, causing a risk of being rear-ended by approaching traffic. I had my two children in the van at the time. After attempting to cycle the ignition several times and stepping out to wave traffic around as the traffic light cycled several times (causing a traffic backup), the van started and drove normally albeit with the Check Engine Light on. I have not had the time to take the van to a dealership for diagnoses, but looking online this is not an unknown problem and is related to the Pacifica Hybrid's transmission. Just wanting to make NHTSA aware of another event of this fault occurring.

An electrical component failed while driving dangerously stranding us on the side of the road. The car has 20k miles on it and is 13 months old.
After driving 15miles home from work, stopped at a traffic light to turn left. When attempting to proceed forward van stopped with an error code that indicated "Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon". The van shut down, and could not move even though it was blocking the intersection. Law enforcement had to be called as it was a safety hazard, and a tow truck had to be dispatched to remove the van from the intersection and tow to dealership for warranty service. The dealer provided warranty service as per Chrysler direction, which was a software update and reseating electrical connections. However, as per the notes from the dealer, "possible a loose connection was issue but still could be internal to power inverter module." As the repair was not a definite resolution for the issue, I contact Chrysler corporate to request a more definite repair. Their stance was that they considered the car repaired under warranty, and that they would not authorize any further work. Chrysler stated that they will not do anymore work until the issue happens again. The issue is that the condition that results is that the van shuts down - and it can happen anywhere, the middle of an intersection or on the freeway at highway speeds. Basically Chrysler has told me that even though they are not sure that the fix applied may not have remedied the issue that caused the van to shut off, they will not do what is required to ensure that it does not happen again. Chrysler has put the safety of my family second to their bottom line - by refusing to authorize the expensive work that it would take to remedy the problem, and ensure that my faily does not face a dangerous situation when driving our van.
On June 3, 2025, my 2023 Chrysler Pacific Hybrid gave me a warning message that it was about to shut down. This included a "red turtle" icon that I later learned is called "limp home mode." I was traveling on the interstate at highway speed at the time. I was able to pull over to the shoulder and turn the vehicle off. The risk of a car shutting down on the highway is a huge a safety risk to myself and other vehicles. Stopping on the shoulder of a highway, particularly given that it was early morning and not yet fully light out also felt very risky with other cars passing by. After turning the car back on, the limp home mode turned off, but the engine warning light was still on. I was able to re-enter traffic, which was also a safety issue having to deal with. When the dealership opened, I contacted them. They were familiar with the problem and were able to state over the phone that it was likely a transmission issue. After inspecting it that afternoon, they determined it would need a transmission rebuild. As of June 27, 2025, they still have the vehicle and have not yet made the repairs.
I rented this car from Budget on Saturday, May 31, 2025. When I drove it on Sunday, June 1, 2025. The check engine light came on and the car gave a warning that it would shut off. The first time I saw this notification I was stopped at a stopped sign at a 4 way intersection. The car proceeded to shut off after some time (maybe 20 seconds or so, not sure). I was at a full stop and the car was in "Drive". When the car shut off it went into "Park" automatically. I turned the car back on and put it back in "Drive". The car would not move. I check to make sure the parking brake was not turned on and it was not. I put the car in "Park" and back into "Drive" and the car still did not move. I turned the car off a few more times before it switched back into gear normally. I was unable to return the car at that time. About an hour later as I was driving on the interstate in the left lane, the same warning light came on. I had to immediately move from the left lane of a 6 lane interstate all the way to the right shoulder. There was no exit or left shoulder. Once I got there the car idled for a moment and shut off; I am uncertain how long it was before it shut off. I waited a couple of minutes since I was also shaken up at having to move so many lanes on a busy interstate with so many lanes. I got to my destination after about 30 minutes. On the way home about an hour in to the drive, the same thing occurred. I moved onto to the right shoulder of a two lane interstate at this time. This time I shut the car off myself and waited a couple of minutes to turn the car back on. I then drove another 45 minutes home. Then this morning, same warning in my driveway before I left to return it. There were issues with the blind spot warning not working some of the time as well as the display screen would flicker on and off or just become disabled but still visible. I have reported this to the rental company but I want that car off the road.
[XXX] First “Red Turtle” Breakdown on Freeway After about an hour of freeway driving, car went into “red turtle mode” (“limp mode”) on the freeway, alerting us that the engine would shut down shortly and that we needed to get to a safe place to stop. The car wouldn’t accelerate fully, putting us in danger on the freeway, where cars were speeding all around us. June 2025: Dealership’s First Attempt to Fix The dealership showed stored error codes P0A43 Drive Mode Code A Position Sensor Intermittent. But, the tech said they were unable to replicate the error. They kept it in the shop for a couple days, then sent the car home with us with no fix. They told us to restart the car a few times and it should go away. [XXX]: Second Breakdown on Freeway On [XXX], with all three kids in the car, we drove the car from Sacramento to San Rafael. On the way there–the first long car trip with the van since the [XXX] incident, the Red Turtle Alert appeared again. We were going uphill and unable to fully accelerate on the freeway, again putting our entire family in danger. We were luckily able to pull off of the freeway, restart the car several times, and continue driving–wondering the entire time whether the vehicle would again lose power, and sure enough it did. [XXX]: Third breakdown on freeway Later that same day, on our way home, the Red Turtle alert appeared again, the vehicle was unable to fully accelerate, and the message warned us that the car was about to shut itself down. This time, we were on the freeway with no exit available to us. We had to pull over onto an unprotected shoulder, with cars speeding by us on both sides. It would have been unsafe for any of us–but especially my toddlers–to exit the vehicle. We sat on the side of the freeway, restarting the car repeatedly, waiting to see if the Alert would clear and the vehicle would become drivable again. Eventually, it did. We brought the car to the dealership again. Spent over a week there INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Second row passenger seat headrest does not lock into place. After folding the seat down to put in car seats in the third row, the headrest will not lock. This would cause severe trauma if one of our many children were to be seated in the seat during a crash. The issue has not yet been evaluated at a service center, but I intend to contact them and see if the headrest can be replaced through warranty.
Driving at highway speed (70 mph) the vehicle repeatedly has flashed a warning : Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon The engine cuts power and the vehicle must be pulled over and turned off and cannot keep driving. It leads to very unsafe conditions at highway speed. The vehicle was repaired once for the defect by Chrysler but it still continues to occur and is now being repaired again.

There is an active recall but the manufacturer has failed to resolve the issue in a timely fashion. They currently have no idea how to repair or replace the airbags. As a result, my family do not feel safe in the vehicle.
I have completed recall 66B/NHTSA 24V-436 on my Chrysler Pacifica. I'm continuing to have issues where the uconnect system locks up and restarts, the rear view camera freezes or turns on when driving forward. Once the system locks up you can't operate certain vehicle controls such as HVAC as they are controlled through the system and the buttons do not respond. I tried contacting Uconnect but their phone system says "error" after multiple steps to get to a representative. I've read many other people having these issues online also. This is a serious safety issue if the controls for your vehicle lock up while driving and the rearview camera doesn't work. I've updated the system per the recall and the issues persist.
The vehicle experienced multiple incidents of sudden power loss while driving.
Numerous times over the last eighteen months, our 2023 Chrysler Pacifica PHEV enters 'Turtle Mode' where a red turtle illuminates on the dashboard, and the car loses all motive power. Sometimes this occurs on local streets, but most recently it occurred during interstate driving, requiring evasive maneuvers to exit the driving lanes and get to the shoulder before all forward momentum stopped. So far, turning off the vehicle, opening the driver's side door and re-starting the engine clears the problem temporarily, but yesterday - [XXX] - the vehicle entered 'Turtle Mode' eight times during the four-hour car-ride from northern West Virginia to Northern Virginia. Several visits to Chrysler dealerships have resulted in zero fixes as they have been unable to replicate the conditions. I received a warning to park safely, engine will shut down soon. This is the third time it has happened. One time coming down a mountain with no place to pull over safely with a van full of family members. Second time at high speed on an interstate, this time on a high speed local road, but had enough time to pull over before losing power. The van has been in the shop and/or waiting for repairs for over 10 weeks during my 53 weeks of ownership. Chrysler has delayed accepting the recommended repairs that their dealer states is necessary. I have spoken to other Pacifica owners that has experienced the same issue. Is Chrysler waiting for folks to get killed before accepting responsibility?
We rented a '23 Pacifica from Enterprise. While driving 70mph on an interstate in Houston, a safety warning popped up "Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon". On the interstate, I wasn't able to keep my speed. Speed dropped quickly and dramatically. Luckily, I was able to get to the side but could have been hit in the process. My 2 daughters were in the car. It was terrifying. According to my research Pacifica did a recall of 67K Hybrids and their solution?? Add software that gives a warning. That was the solution. NOT TO FIX THE DEADLY ISSUE but to add a warning. [XXX] . INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
We were driving on the freeway, 80 MPH, 0% battery life. Warning came on the dashboard stating something like “ Pull over safely, engine will stop”. Engine had already stopped and we luckily avoided impending doom and pulled off to the side of the highway. Turned car off, waited a couple min, and started the car again. Car turned on with check engine light. Able to slowly get to the next exit. Next morning, took to dealer. Say there were not able to see any issues. Van is around 28,000 miles.
While driving at highway speed the vehicle flashed a vehicle and I’ll shut down sign. A red turtle flashed and the vehicle began to decelerate. Had to pull over to a less than safe sand shoulder. Had highway speed traffic directly behind me. Dealership pulled codes related to the transmission. No previous issues or sign thereof. 25k miles.
Letter sent to AVIS after the incident: The image included is an example and not associated with incident Concern Regarding Recalled Rental Vehicle - Avis Rental Agreement [XXX] Dear Mr. Tucker, I am writing to share a concerning experience my wife and I had with an Avis rental. We rented a Chevrolet Pacifica Hybrid for a drive from Atlanta to Chicago. About an hour into our trip, the vehicle displayed a warning message: "Stop Safely. Vehicle will shut down soon." Following the instructions, we immediately pulled over, activated our hazard lights, and called Avis emergency roadside service while consulting the owner's manual. We then decided to move to a nearby gas station parking lot for safety. While still on hold, we researched the warning online (see link) and discovered it was a known recall for our vehicle. The recommended temporary fix—turning off the car, opening and closing the driver’s door, and restarting the engine—allowed us to continue. However, the warning appeared three more times during our trip, requiring us to stop and repeat the process. Though we managed the situation, it caused unnecessary stress and could pose a serious risk for other customers. After 15 minutes on hold, we disconnected from emergency road service as we no longer needed assistance. We called back later to inquire about switching vehicles, but chose to continue rather than delay our trip even further. This raises important questions: Why does Avis place vehicles with outstanding recalls into its rental fleet? What is Avis’s general approach to managing manufacturer recalls? If such vehicles are rented, why not inform customers in advance and provide a workaround? While I have contacted Avis/Budget about customer service concerns in the past, this is a safety issue. I urge you to escalate this matter to your management team and clarify how Avis plans to prevent similar situations. I would appreciate a formal response outlining your approach to recall management. The vehicle randomly went into limp mode. The check engine light came on with error code P0A3F. The vehicle was restarted and drove normally with the check engine light (CEL) still on. We immediately made an appointment with the dealership to get it looked at. As we were driving into the dealership parking lot the CEL cleared itself. There is an existing TSB for this exact scenario and symptoms. The dealership and Chrysler corporate (Stellantis) are refusing to fix this issue because there isn’t an “active code.” The code is in the history. Since then the CEL has come on multiple times but cleared itself too quickly to get it to the dealer in time. We took it a second dealership this time with an active code, but the code cleared itself upon restarting the car after leaving it there. This vehicle is not safe to drive since it randomly goes into limp mode with no power. This poses a very dangerous and unsafe situation that can endanger me, my family, and other drivers around me.
On our daily commute the car came to a stop at a light and then the car then turned off and would not start again. We tried everything but the engine would turnover. After 3 hours, the car then started and we drove it to dealership and they detected no faults or codes.
My vehicle suddenly experienced a loss of power while driving, starting at 62000 miles per hour. Sometimes the same problem occurs again after driving for several hundred miles per hour, and sometimes even after driving for tens of miles per hour. When this problem occurs, the vehicle cannot continue to drive and can only rely on inertia to slide. It must be parked on the side of the road, the engine must be turned off for one minute, and the vehicle can start again to drive normally. My car has now driven at 89000 miles per hour, and this problem has occurred countless times. At first, it occurred about once every 2-3 days, but now it occurs twice a day.
I want to say my first issue started in December 2024 the vehicle began to slow down lights started flashing in the vehicle the steering became difficult to turn I pulled over waited in the vehicle for over an hour with my [xxx] son and grandchildren in the car then the vehicle started I thought it was fine so I'm thinking this car is really smart it fixed it self then January it happened again I called the dealership south Chicago dodge spoke with larry they said bring it in but they were backed up I was like omg I'm not going to have a way to get around so the next problems I had called hawk jeep chrysler because they'll put me in a loaner or a rental I've done business with them in the past spoke with Ann Marie she said bring it in honey on my way to the dealership the car went crazy on the expressway and stopped on the expressway the state tow truck said you can't stay here it's unsafe mind you my [xxx] son is in the vehicle and it was freezing he towed us off the way I contacted Ann Marie I had the vehicle towed from there to the dealership long story short the vehicle has been in the shop 4 times for the same problem the vehicle has stopped on my with my family in the car numerous times in unsafe places I purchased the vehicle because it met my family needs in an a [xxx] I need a safe reliable running vehicle which has not been the case I've been paying my car note my insurance and this is the 3rd month I haven't had my vehicle mind you each time I've picked the vehicle up I had to bring it back for the same problem I was told they vehicle was ready went to get it Jim the manager at hawk came back said the vehicle was dead they don't know what's wrong with it at that point I had my vehicle towed back to south Chicago dodge where I purchased the vehicle from now I'm upset I'm in an unsafe vehicle that stops on the expressway in the middle of the road I need a reliable safe vehicle I transport my grandbabies and [XXX] son with his wheelchair INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Vehicle lost power on three occasions while on the highway. STOP SAFELY VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF SOON showed in cluster and began to lose all power. I had to pull over and turn off vehicle for about 10 minutes to get it to move again. Vehicle was taken to dealer and they reported the transmission needed replacement and was covered under warranty.
I have pulled out to go across road and it was like the car wouldn't go. It would be like it was coasting. And then it would kick in hardand fast. Very very dangerous. Have you had any other people say that.? It's done it about 5 times.. where I almost got hit and or ran off road when it did go.
While driving on highway, message appeared on dashboard display "Stop Safely, Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon". This has happened on 2 separate occasions without cause. First time was 3/11/2024 and most recent was 12/1/2024. Vehicle was leased new by me. No incidents since then.
This is the second time this happened in one week. Incident happened immediately after being sent home without repair by the dealership. Driving down the interstate, our car displayed the "Stop Safely. Vehicle will shut off soon." Red turtle light came on, and car lost all acceleration. We managed to pull over without being hit. Turned the car off and then back on. Check engine light was now on, but the car would drive. Hybrid battery was charged at 66%. In both shutdown instances, dealership says it is unable to replicate the problem, and therefore will not look further into the problem.
We were driving on the interstate at approximately 70 mph when our car gave the warning, "Stop Soon. Vehicle will shut off." A turtle warning light also lit up. We pulled over to the side of the road and turned the car off. After a few minutes, we were able to turn the car back on and drive home, though the check engine light was then on. We took it to the dealer the next day, with the check engine light still on, and the dealer was unable to reproduce or diagnose the problem. They said there were so many warning codes that they could not determine what was the problem and that if they followed what the codes were telling them, they'd have to replace the entire wiring system of the car. They also said that one or more of the codes was related to the transmission. They drove the car extensively and couldn't reproduce the shutdown. They are currently still trying to diagnose the problem with the car at the dealership. There were no warning signs from the vehicle prior to the incident. The incident occurred right around the time when we would have depleted the all-electric charge and switched over to using gas.
Keys were inside car with only an infant inside and the doors were locked with no other key fob anywhere nearby. There must have been an issue with the car’s safety system to unlock the car in this situation. There was no 3 beeps that would unlock the car. Car was parked in Walmart parking lot in the heat. Remote start was on, key fob was in drivers seat. The last door to close was the drivers side rear sliding door. Wife called me from a shopper’s phone since hers was also locked in the car. I frantically drove with the other key fob a few miles to where they were to unlock. It was a traumatic experience for her and our son who was stuck inside the car. Thankfully I got there in time to unlock with the other key fob and everyone is okay.
We have less than 3K miles currently on this vehicle. We were traveiling to the mountains for a vacation when the check engine light illuminated. Stayed on for 2 days and reset itself. We were in the Smokey Mountains and a warning came up to "Stop Safely Vehicle will shut off soon. Within a few minutes, all power was lost, all lights were inoperational including the 4 way hazards. After just a few minutes, the van restarted and operated as if nothing happened. The check engine light stayed on long enough for a Chrysler dealer to read the codes. Esentially, a problem with the High Voltage System Interlock Circuit A, Drive Motor A Inverter Performance are the major codes. A slew of others all related to this issue. The hybrid mechanic stated it is the same issues that plague the 2017-2021 Pacificas hybrids. Losing all power is not acceptable, especially in the mountains with a vehicle less than 4 months since delivery.
We have had our 2023 Chrysler Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid since [XXX]. This was a factory ordered vehicle. There have been no indications that there is any issue with the vehicle. About a week ago while driving the vehicle a warning came on the speedometer screen that said "Pull over safely the vehicle is about to turn off". The check engine light also came on. Once the vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road and stopped the vehicle turned itself off. After waiting a few minutes the vehicle was able to be restarted and driven about 5 minutes home. The check engine light remained on. We did not drive the vehicle again until we were taking it to the dealership to be inspected. The check engine light was on the entire drive from our home to the dealership, which is about 10-15 minutes. The vehicle has now been at our local Chrysler dealership for 6 days. The technician at the dealership is telling us the code stored in the vehicle memory means it needs a new transmission. We are being told they need to replicate the issue for the warranty to cover a new transmission being put in. If they cannot replicate the issue, we are to take the vehicle back and continue to drive it until it happens again and then immediately have it towed to the dealership so they can receive warranty approval to replace the transmission. My research has revealed this is a known issue in Pacifica Hybrids regarding stalling due to a transmission sensor. I called Chrysler to clarify the warranty process and if there is a recall on my vehicle. The warranty process is correct and there is currently not a recall for this issue on our Pacifica Hybrid. While driving with my young family my vehicles engine shut off and all steering was lost going appx. 50mph. As the the vehicle shut off, a warning popped up and said “stop safely, vehicle will shut off soon.” This was very dangerous and could have caused a life treating injury.
On the afternoon of May 26, 2024, I received a warning "Stop Safely - Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon". I pulled to the side of the road but was still in an active traffic lane in a traffic circle and cars had to stop and/or swerve to avoid hitting my car. If this had been at night my safety would have been even more greatly compromised. The engine promptly shut off and would not restart. I was towed to the nearest dealer which still has not diagnosed or repaired the car. This may be related to recall 23V-010 and the ongoing RQ24004, of which the dealer had no knowledge. I took delivery of the car, a 2023 Pacifica plug in hybrid, on March 25th and it has less than 4000 miles on it.
I was driving my vehicle in a local road at speed about 20MPH and suddenly got a warning saying "Stop safely, Vehicle will shut off soon". Then the gas pedal stopped working. It was on the middle of the road. I switched off my car and started it again a couple of times and that warning was gone but the engine light was on. I was able to drive the vehicle and so the next day I went to the dealer to find the issue. After 4 days the dealer said they couldn't replicate the issue and also the engine light was not on anymore and so they returned my vehicle without doing anything. After a week I was driving on a freeway with all my family members (6 of us), 75 MPH the same thing happened again. I immediately pulled over to the shoulder, since the gas pedal was not working. I switched off the car and switched on then I drove the vehicle. This happened at least 6 to 8 times on my 300-mile drive. It was really scary that the vehicle got a weird warning and the gas pedal stopped working in the middle of the road. At one place there was no shoulder, so I had to stop on the road itself. After coming back, I dropped my vehicle with the dealer to find the issue. It's been 2 weeks but they are saying they couldn't replicate the issue. I bought this as a brand-new vehicle on April 2023, and it's just 14 months old.
Lost engine power on highway with warning on the dash "Stop Safely, Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon"
Service hybrid electric vehicle system
Vehicle was purchased in February 2023, starting in January 2024 when vehicle was running and stopped, auto/start stop would engage but the entire vehicle would shut down and not restart. We would have to shift to park, turn off, remove foot from brake then wait 1-5 minutes to restart. Took the vehicle into Rochester hills Chrysler jeep dodge and after several days of troubleshooting they replaced the steering module and claimed it was faulty. 24 hours after picking up the vehicle the same issue happened again. Took the vehicle back in annd they showed 15 different error codes that came up. Left the vehicle there for service and after a week of troubleshooting they were finally able to recreate the issue. They claim it was the RF transmitter in the tailgate causing the issue. If you are experiencing the same issues I recommend asking about the RF transmitter and steering module.
I received a safety recall regarding my 2023 Chrysler Pacifica side curtain air bags in May 2025. I have been trying to schedule repair of the problem and the dealership is unwilling to diagnose or assess the vehicle because they say the repair is not yet available. They did confirm the problem exists but are unwilling to touch the car until the manufacturer offers a fix. I am very concerned to drive my children in this vehicle without properly functioning airbags. I do not see any warning lights or messages about the problem.
