FUEL LINE ON PT CRUISER RUBS AGAINST THE REFRIGERANT LINE, CAUSING WEAR ON THE FUEL LINE. I WAS NOTIFIED OF THIS PROBLEM THRUOUGH PTCRUISER CLUB MEMBERSHIP. I CAUGHT MINE BEFORE IT WAS WORN COMPLETELY THROUGH, AND PREVENTED A HIGH-PRESSURE FUEL LEAK THAT HAS OCCURRED ON OTHER PTCRUISERS. THIS NOT AN ISSUE THAT CAN WAIT FOR OTHER OCCURANCES TO SURFACE. I WILL BE TAKING MINE TO THE DEALER FOR REMEDY.*AK
AFTER RESEARCHING INTERNET FOUND A FUEL PROBLEM WITH PT CRUISER. CONFIRMED INFORMATION WITH DEALER, HOWEVER, VEHICLE IS NOT BEING RECALLED.*AK
1. WEATHER STRIPPING ON REAR PASSENGER WINDOW FELL OFF. DEALER GLUED OR TAPED TO FIX. FINALLY ANOTHER DEALER REPLACED ASSEMBLY (PLASTIC LINER AND RUBBER COMPONENT). 2. TRANSMISSION OIL PAN LEAK. DEALER RESEALED GASKET X 2 WITHOUT SUCCESS. CURRENTLY TRYING TO REPLACE OIL PAN. 7 DAYS TO REPEATEDLY FIX PROBLEM. LOANER CAR (SAME MAKE AMD MODEL) HAS SAME PROBLEM.
CONSUMER STATE WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARK CONSUMER NOTICE VEHICLE FOG LIGHTS ON. CONSUMER TRIED TO TURN LIGHT OFF BUT LIGHT WOULD NOT TURN OFF. SOON AFTER CONSUMER NOTICE SMOKING COMING FROM STEERING WHEEL CONSUMER REMOVE THE FUSE SMOKE STOP. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. NLM
CONSUMER STATES OF HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE RIMS ON THE VEHICLE. DEALER WAS CONTACTED. NLM
CONSUMER STATES OF HAVING PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES WHICH THERE WAS RECALL AND DEALER STATED THAT HER ROTORS WERE NOT GOOD. NLM
THE BRAKE KNUCKLES, PART NUMBER 05073646, HAVE DEVELOPED A LARGE CRACKS, ONE IN THE RIGHT REAR, AND ONE IN THE LEFT REAR. THIS PART HOLDS THE BRAKE CALIPERS ONTO THE BODY, AND SHOULD BE MUCH STRONGER THAN IT IS. MR
ON 12/6/02 I WAS TRAVELING 60 MPH. I TRIED TO MAKE A LANE CHANGE AND THE WHOLE CAR LOST CONTROL. THE CAR STARTED ROCKING SIDE TO SIDE FOR ABOUT A MILE. THE CAR WOULD NOT GIVE TRANCTION TO THE GROUND. I KEPT THINKING ON EACH ROCKING MOTION THAT THE CAR WAS GOING TO FLIP OVER AT ANY MOMENT. I DID NOT HIT THE BRAKE FOR FEAR THIS WOULD MAKE THE CAR FLIP DUE TO THE AGGRESSIVE SIDE TO SIDE ROCKING THE CAR WAS DOING. THE STEERING SYSTEM SEEMED TO BE OUT. THE CAR FELT AS IT WAS GOING TO TIP OVER. THE CAR EVENTUALLY SLAMMED INTO A CONCRETE EMBARKMENT DIVIDER ON THE FREEWAY HEAD-ON. THE AIR BAGS ON THE CAR DID NOT DEPLOY. I'VE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM TWICE BEFORE MAKING LANE CHANGES IN TOWN BUT THE AGGESSIVENESS OF THE MOTION WAS NOT THE SAME AS THIS HIGHWAY INCIDENT. I'D LIKE THIS VEHICLE TO BE INVESTIGATED FOR DEFECTIVENESS. I'D LIKE THE SCENE OF MY ACCIDENT TO BE INVESIGATED TO SEE THE TRACTION MARKS. I'D LIKE TO KNOW OF ANY SIMILAR COMPOLAINTS ABOUT THIS MAKE AND MODEL OF CAR. 2001 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER. I'D LIKE THE DAMAGES OF MY CAR TO BE COMPENSATED FOR AS WELL AS MY OWN INJURIES AND TO FIX THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. DT
VEHICLE FUEL TANK WAS OVER FILLED, RESULTING IN FUEL LEAKING INSIDE VEHICLE REAR RIGHT DOOR AND RUG. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. PH
THE CONSUMER RECEIVED TWO SAFETY RECALLS THAT COULD NOT BE CORRECTED DUE TO PARTS NOT BEING AVAILABLE IN WHICH THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY'LL CALL WHEN THEY WERE. MR *SCC
WHEN THE CONSUMER ATTEMPTED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY VEERED INTO A HARD LEFT TURN, THE DRIVER LOSS CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND HIT A CONCRETE BASE OF A LIGHT POLE. THERE WAS OIL ON THE GROUND NEAR THE COLLISION. A FRONT END SUSPENSION SPECIALIST INDICATED THE RACK AND PINION BROKE, WHICH CAUSED LOSS OF CONTROL/CRASH. CONSUMER FELT THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE WHICH SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED FURTHER. IF IT WOULD BE DECIDED BY SOMEONE FROM NHTSA TO INVESTIGATE THE INCIDENT FURTHER, IT SHOULD BE DONE QUICKLY SINCE THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN RELEASED BY THE FARMERS TEXAS COUNTY MUTUAL INSURANCE COMPANY FOR AUCTION/SALE. INSURANCE ADJUSTER HAS AGREED TO A TWO WEEK HOLD UNTIL FEBRUARY 7, 2003. UNLESS THERE WAS FURTHER ACTION BY NHTSA OR CHRYSLER TO INDICATE A FURTHER INVESTIGATION FOR SECURITY REASONS. THE DESIGN OF THE "TOP PART" OF THE PASSENGER DOOR FRAME WAS VERY HIGH AND CURVED WHICH CAUSED THE FRAME TO HIT AND DAMAGE THE CONSUMERS EYE WHEN CLOSING THE DOOR. *NLM
VEHICLE'S DOOR LOCKS AUTOMATICALLY LOCKED ON THEIR OWN. *MR THE VEHICLE STARTED TO LOCK ON IT'S OWN WITHOUT ACTIVATION. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED SIX TIMES OVER A PERIOD OF THIRTEEN MONTHS BY THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP. THE CONSUMER WOULD BE DRIVING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN, ALL OF THE VEHICLE DOORS WOULD UNLOCK. THE DOORS WERE SUPPOSE TO AUTOMATICALLY LOCK WHEN THE VEHICLE REACHED OVER 5 MPH AND RANDOMLY FAILED TO DO SO, AFTER ACTIVATING THE LOCK/SECURITY DEVICE AND LISTENING FOR THE BEEP IT DID NOT ACTIVATE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO REMEDY. THE PROBLEM HAD PROGRESSED RAPIDLY AND THE CORRECTION ATTEMPTS ONLY RESULTED IN PROBLEMS WITH ACCELERATION. *SCC *JB
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE PULLED TO THE RIGHT AND THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATED. THE DEALER ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE BUT THE STEERING WHEEL STILL VIBRATED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *NLM
THE DRIVER HEARD A SQUEALING NOISE WHEN BRAKING. TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND MECHANIC REPLACED THE FRONT ROTORS. *AK
ENGINE STOPS DEAD IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING...DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO REPEAT PROBLEM BUT 4 WARNINGS COME UP ON COMPUTER
WHILE TRAVELING 5 MPH CONSUMER NOTICED THAT WHEN MAKING A TURN VEHICLE DID NOT RESPOND TO TURNING, VEHICLE CONTINUED TO TRAVEL STRAIGHT. DEALERSHIP SERVICED VEHICLE, AND NOTICED RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
DUE TO THE LOCATION OF THE POWER STEERING LINE, IT COULD BE STRUCK CAUSING THE FLUID TO LEAK. *PH THE DETECTOR LOSS IT'S "PS" ON THE CONSUMER'S DRIVEWAY. THE CONSUMER FELT THAT THIS PART SHOULD BE PROTECTED. *SC
