TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE QUARTER GLASS BECAME SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 07V149000 (VISIBILITY).THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER EQUIPPED WITH GOODYEAR EAGLE LS TIRES, SIZE P205/55/R16. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED A BUBBLE HAD DEVELOPED ON THE PASSENGER FRONT TIRE TREAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE TREAD BELT WAS SEPARATING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TWO FRONT TIRES WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,825.
THE PROBLEM I HAVE BEEN HAVING WITH THE AIR BAG LIGHT OF MY 2005 PT CONVERTIBLE CRUISER HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR 7 YEARS AND 6 ATTEMPTS TO FIX IT. CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE SERVICE HAS AUTHORIZED THE NAPLETON DEALERSHIP IN LAKE PARK, FLORIDA, TO FIX THE PROBLEM WITH THE AIR BAG LIGHT TWICE: ONCE IN SEPTEMBER 2012, AND MOST RECENTLY IN MAY 2014. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT PERFORMS THE SAME REPLACEMENT OF THE HARNESS BUCKLE APPARATUS EACH TIME, BUT THAT IS CLEARLY NOT THE UNDERLYING REASON THAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON AFTER EVERY ATTEMPT TO FIX IT. AFTER THE FOURTH ATTEMPT TO FIX IT FAILED BY A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP IN TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA, IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT THE UNDERLYING PROBLEM WAS PROBABLY WITH THE ENTIRE WIRING SYSTEM OF THE CAR, BUT DURING THE 5TH AND 6TH ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR THE AIR BAG LIGHT, THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT SEEM WILLING TO LOOK INTO THIS AND ENDED DOING THE EXACT SAME REPAIR THAT HAS BEEN ATTEMPTED FOR 7 YEARS. MEANWHILE I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE WHEN THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER AND THE MIDDLE SEATBELT LATCH HAS BECOME COMPLETELY REMOVED. I DID NOT GET IN AN ACCIDENT THE CAUSE OF THIS ISSUE IS UNKNOWN. YESTERDAY THE RIGHT REAR SEATBELT BUCKLE BROKE AS WELL. NOW I HAVE ONE WORKING BELT IN MY BACK SEAT AND TWO CHILDREN. I AM EXTREMELY DISSATISFIED AND WANT TO KNOW WHAT I CAN DO ABOUT IT. I HAVE NO CONFIDENCE IN THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE AND I FEEL THAT SEAT BELTS SHOULD NOT MALFUNCTION LET ALONE COMPLETELY BREAK FOR NO REASON. *TR
FRONT CRANK SEAL IS PUSHING OUT, MASSIVE OIL LEAK. I HAVE HAD THIS REPAIRED 2X AND IT STILL LEAKING OIL. THE REPAIR SHOP HAS TOLD ME THAT IT IS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT AND THAT THEY SHOULD FIX IT FOR ME. THEY SAID THAT IT IS NOT A MATTER OF IF IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN BUT WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN AND IT SHOULD BE FIXED BY MANUFACTURE FOR ME. WHEN IT LEAKS IT LEAKS ON TIMING BELT AND THAN THE ENGINE SLIPS. GOING OVER A SPEED BUMP MY UNDERBODY SCRAPPED THE BUMP. WHEN I GOT HOME I HAD A SMALL AMOUNT OF RADIATOR FLUID UNDER MY CAR THE NEXT MORNING. A FEW DAYS LATER THERE WAS STILL SMALL AMOUNTS OF LIQUID UNDER MY CAR. JACK FURRIERS REPAIR SHOP SAID THE OIL COOLER WAS DAMAGED AND HAD A SMALL HOLE FROM THE FINS BEING BENT. REPAIR IS QUITE EXPENSIVE BECAUSE CHRYSLER HAS CHANGED THE STYLING OF THE PART AND IT HAS TO BE REPLACED WITH THE NEW PART. THE NEW PART I WAS TOLD WOULD BE BEING PUT IN THE PLACE WHERE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN PUT IN THE FIRST PLACE TO BE SAFER FROM THE TYPES OF DAMAGES I GOT. SHOULD BE A RECALL COVERED REPAIR. THE CAR COULD OVERHEAT AND CAUSE OTHER PROBLEMS. *TR

I HAVE A CONCERN ABOUT ALL THE ISSUES WITH THIS CAR. ON MARCH 29TH MY FOG LIGHTS WOULD NOT TURN OFF EVEN WHEN IGNITION SWITCH WAS TURNED OFF. I WENT ON LINE AND SAW SEVERAL "BLOGS" ABOUT THIS ISSUE - I AM AN OLDER WOMEN WITH MINIMAL KNOWLEDGE OF THESE THINGS SO I WENT TO A PARTS STORE THAT WAS OPEN AND THE CLERK PULLED THE #8 FUSE OUT - FOR THE FOG LIGHTS SO MY BATTERY WOULD NOT RUN DOWN BEFORE SERVICE/REPAIR WAS OPEN ON MONDAY- THE MECHANIC STATED HE COULD FIX IT AND ALSO THAT THE DEALERSHIP JUST TOOK IN A USED CRUISER AND THE FOG LIGHTS DID NOT WORK - THEY FOUND THAT SOMEONE HAD TOOK THE FUSES OUT FOR THAT CRUISER ALSO - IS THIS A DEFECTIVE ISSUE- APPEARS NOW ACCORDING TO THE INTERNET THE REPLACEMENT PART HAS BEEN IMPROVED. I ALSO HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE COMPUTER AND AGAIN SEEMS OTHER CRUISER OWNERS HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE ALSO - THIS IS A LOT OF EXPENSE AND WITH THE LOAN ON THE CAR IS DIFFICULT TO NOW GET A DIFFERENT CAR AS THIS DOES SEEM TO BE A LEMON - BUT I HAVE TO KEEP IT TILL I CAN AFFORD TO GET A DIFFERENT CAR - WITH ALL THESE ISSUES - NO ONE WILL WANT THIS ONE EITHER. *TR

CHRYSLER NON-RESPONDENT, GOODYEAR SIMPLY REPLACES. RESEARCH YIELDS MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ON MULTIPLE WEBSITES STATING THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS A ROAD HAZARD AND SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
DASHBOARD LIGHTS GO OUT AT WILL AND ENGINE LIGHTS SHOW CODES EVEN AFTER REPLACING SENSORS NOW 02 SENSORS NOT WORKING .LOOK LIKE THIS HAD BEEN A ONGOING PROBLEM FOR YEARS NOW AND CHRYSLER FAILS TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. PLEASE HELP MYSELF AND OTHER PT DRIVERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM.
AFTER COMING FROM THE STORE I NOTICE A BIG SPOT OF OIL ON THE GARAGE FLOOR,I WIPE IT UP WENT INSIDE THE HOUSE THE NEXT DAY I WENT ON SOME ERRANDS CAME BACK TO THE HOUSE AND SOME MORE OIL, AT THIS POINT CALL MY LOCAL PARTS HOUSE HE CAME UP WITH A BAD FRONT OIL SEAL. SO I WANTED TO DID FURTHER INTO THIS, AND FOUND A LOT OF DODGE, CHRYSLER, OWNER HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM.I PULL UP AND COPY THESE PROBLEM'S SOME P/T OWNERS SAID THE DEALER WANTED TO CHARGE THEM TO CHANGE THE ENGINE BECAUSE OF THE THRUST BEARING WAS TO FAR OUT OF SPECS.AND PUSHING THE FRONT SEAL OUT AND CAUSING LEAK. IF THIS WOULD HAPPEN AT HIGH SPEEDS,THIS WOULD HAVE A TERRIBLE TERRIBLE PROBLEM. I THINK CHRYSLER KNOWS ABOUT THIS, BECAUSE ONE CHRYSLER TECH DID SAY HE KNOWS THE 2.4L HAS A CRANK SEAL ISSUE ON A HANDFUL OF THE VEHICLE. NOW OUR P/T ONLY HAS 55,000 MILES ON IT AND THIS PROBLEM SHOULD NOT BE. MOST OWNER THAT I'VE READ ABOUT HAS MILEAGE NO MORE THAN 110.000.AND SOME HAVE HAD THE SEAL REPLACE TWO-THREE TIMES. I THINK CHRYSLER NEEDS TO STEP UP TO PLATE AND ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM NOW WE ARE STUCK WITHOUT A CAR. THIS COULD COST IN THE THOUSANDS,THIS PROBLEM SHOULD HAVE ADDRESS LONG AGO.THE HOLE UNDER CARRIAGE IS SOAK WITH OIL. *TR
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED FROM FRED BEANS, BOYERTOWN, PA ON 8/1/13 WITH APPROX. 78K MILES ON IT. I WAS DRIVING IN TRAFFIC, SLOWING DOWN FOR A TRAFFIC, WHEN MY VEHICLE LOST POWER AND THEN BEGAN TO HESITATE WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO PICK UP SPEED. THERE WAS NO ACCELERATION AND IT APPEARED THE CAR WOULD STALL. IT NEVER STALLED BUT I DID PULL OVER AND SHUT THE CAR OFF, STARTED IT AGAIN AND AFTER A FEW MOMENTS, WAS ABLE TO DRIVE NORMALLY FOR A FEW MILES. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AND THE CAR HESITATED AGAIN. THIS WAS LOOKED AT AND DETERMINED, SINCE THERE WAS NO OTHER OCCURRENCE, TO BE A "GLITCH" AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS RESET BY THE GARAGE (NO CHARGE AND NO DIAGNOSTICS). IN JANUARY THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED AND THE GARAGE REPLACED THE CAM SENSOR. SHORTLY AFTER THAT THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN AND THE SENSOR WAS AGAIN REPLACED. IT IS NOW APRIL AND AGAIN THE PROBLEM IS OCCURRING, ALL OF THESE INCIDENCES WHILE DRIVING, CAUSING AN UNNECESSARY SLOW DOWN WHICH COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A REAR END COLLISION. I'VE SPOKEN WITH THE DEALERSHIP WHO REFERRED ME TO THE ORIGINAL SHOP THAT REPLACED THE SENSOR (SCOOTY'S, PENNSBURG, PA) AND TO AUTO ZONE WHO SOLD ME THE NEXT SENSOR. I STILL OWE MONEY ON THIS VEHICLE AND APPARENTLY IT'S NOT WORTH HALF OF WHAT I OWE DUE TO THESE PROBLEMS AND I AM CONCERNED ABOUT DRIVING IT MORE THAN A MILE IN CASE THIS PROBLEM OCCURS AGAIN. *TT

IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE TURN SIGNAL HANDLE. THE CONTACT DEACTIVATED THE FUSE BUT LATER NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH ON THE DASHBOARD CONSOLE. THERE WAS ALSO AN EXCESSIVE VIBRATION COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WHEN BEING DRIVEN AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE MOTOR MOUNTS WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY 75 MPH, AT SOME POINT THE SIDE REAR WINDOW BLEW OUT , I HEARD THE SOUND OF A OPEN WINDOW BUT COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHERE IT WAS COMING FROM, I PULLED OVER AND NOTICED THE WINDOW WAS GONE. IF THERE HAD BEEN A MOTOR CYCLE OR ANOTHER VEHICLE IT COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE DRIVEN DUE TO THE HOLE IN THE FIRE WALL THE CONTACT DID NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER OR MECHANIC. THE CONTACT DID NOT NOTIFY THE MANUFACTURER OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 145,000.
CAR INTERMITTENTLY WILL NOT START. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED SO MANY TIMES THAT THE INSURANCE RATE WENT UP AND WE PAID FOR REPAIRS THAT WE DID NOT NEED BECAUSE IT NEVER FIXED THE PROBLEM. REPAIRS INCLUDE (BATTERY, STARTER, IGNITION, SPARK PLUGS AND WIRES) WE NOW BELIEVE THAT THE PROBLEM IS THE TIPM. THE OTHER PROBLEMS WE ENCOUNTERED ARE WINDOW WON'T GO UP OR DOWN. DEALERSHIPS DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM SO THEY CONTINUE TO CHARGE US FOR UNNECCESARY REPAIRS.
I WAS DRIVING NORTH ON I95 SUNDAY AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE QUARTER WINDOW JUST FLEW OFF WITHOUT ANY WARNING NO BREAKAGE NOTHING HIT IT JUST BLEW OFF. UNFORTUNATELY IT BROKE UP WHEN IT HIT THE PAVEMENT. IS THERE STILL A RECALL #07V149000 THAT CAN STILL TAKE CARE OF THIS PROBLEM? *TR
WHILE STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT THE CAR JUST TURNED ITSELF OFF. RESTARTED AGAIN BY TURNING THE IGNITION. HAS DONE THIS SEVERAL TIMES SINCE AND EVEN WILE RUNNING ON THE FREEWAY AT FREEWAY SPEEDS. HAVE TO MANAGE TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY AND WAIT A BIT TO RESTART VIA THE IGNITION SWITCH. ONE TIME A GENTLEMAN EVEN PUSHED THE CAR TO HELP BE GET IT OFF OF THE ROADWAY. HAVE TRIED NUMEROUS TIMES TO REPAIR AUTO BY CHANGING OUT THE VARIOUS SENSORS INDICATED BY THE CODE SHOWN IN THE MILEAGE/SPEEDOMETER GAUGE. NUMEROUS TECHNICIANS HAVE TRIED TO REMEDY THE SITUATION. WORKS FOR AWHILE, THEN REVERTS TO STALLING AGAIN AND AGAIN. *JS

THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY STATED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. WHILE GETTING ON INTERSTATE MY CAR WOULD NOT GO BUT ONLY 30 MPH THEN MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND CAR DIED. GOT MY CAR STARTED AFTER WAITING A FEW MINUTES. TOOK IT TO ADVANCE AUTO AND THEY SAID IT WAS CAM SHAFT POSITION SENSOR; SO I REPLACED IT. 6 MONTHS LATER IT DID IT AGAIN. I REPLACED IT. NOW EVERY 2 TO 3 MONTHS THE SENSOR GOES BAD AND THE PEOPLE AT ADVANCE SAY SOMETHING HAS TO BE WRONG BECAUSE THE CAR SHOULDN'T BE GOING THROUGH THAT MANY SENSORS. I HAVE HAD MY CAR DIE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET WITH MY KIDS IN THE CAR. I AM SCARED THAT IT IS GOING TO DIE AND I WILL BE HIT. *TR
MY CAR SUDDENLY STARTED LEAKING MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF OIL. I BROUGHT MY CAR TO TIRES PLUS TO SEE IF THERE WAS SOMETHING THEY COULD DO TO FIX MY CAR AND HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST. THEY ADVISED ME THAT CHRYSLER HAS BEEN AWARE OF THE FAILURE ISSUE FOR SOME TIME BUT HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL TO FIX THE ISSUE. THEY ALSO ADVISED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIX MY CAR AS ONCE THE GASKET FAILED INITIALLY IT WOULD LEAD TO SERIAL FAILURE OF THE GASKET AND THE REPLACED PART WOULD ONLY LAST FROM 3 TO 6 MONTHS. HOW IS IT POSSIBLE THAT CHRYSLER COULD KNOW ABOUT THIS AND NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY? *TR
WHEELS ON CAR ARE DEFECTIVE, FLAKE AND TIRES WILL NOT HOLD AIR . BOUGHT THE CAR IN DECEMBER, 2012 WITH -53,000 MILES ON IT. AFTER RESEARCHING, I FOUND THIS IS COMMON WITH THE 2005 PT CRUISER'S. I OWN A 2011 CHRYSLER PRODUCT AND 2005 PT CRUISER AND THEY REFUSE TO REPLACE THE WHEELS. SAID WHEELS ARE $884/PER WHEEL+60 LABOR/PER WHEEL+TAX. WENT TO CEO OF CHRYSLER. CORPORATE OFFICE CALLED, ACTED LIKE THEY WERE GOING TO HELP, THEN BACKED OUT. COST TO REPLACE MY WHEELS/TIRES TODAY (CHEAPEST I CAN GET IS $1,600.00). TWO OF MANY COMPLAINTS ON INTERNET: CONTACT OWNS 2005 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER AND STATED THAT THE CHROME WHEELS WERE FLAKING. AS A RESULT, THE AIR PRESSURE WAS SEEPING OUT AND CAUSING THE TIRES TO GO FLAT. CONTACT STATED HE HAD TO REPLACE THE TIRES A TOTAL OF 7 TIMES. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED PROBLEM WAS NOT WITH THE TIRES BUT WITH THE RIM ITSELF. MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF FAILURE, OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE AND VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED.FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 91,000. MARYVILLE,TN; I HAVE A 2005 PT CRUISER TURBO CONVERTIBLE WITH FACTORY 17" CHROME WHEELS AND CHROME IS FLAKING OFF OF INSIDE OF WHEEL RIMS PREVENTS TIRE FROM GRIPPING PROPER SEAL. TIRES REPEATEDLY GO FLAT WHILE PARKED AND WHILE DRIVING. HAVE REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES WITH NEW ONES, HAD TIRES CLEANED/RE-MOUNTED/RESEALED MULTIPLE TIMES. THREE DIFFERENT TIRE PROFESSIONALS TELL ME IT IS A FACTORY DEFECT. TIRE BLEW OUT WHILE DRIVING LAST WEEK AND ALMOST LOST CONTROL. ONLINE, I HAVE FOUND SEVERAL OTHER PT CRUISER OWNERS WITH SAME PROBLEM. HAVE MADE DEALERSHIP AND DOUG BETTS, CHRYSLER VP OF CUSTOMER RELATIONS, AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT THEY REFUSE TO CORRECT IT. VEHICLE AIR BAG LIGHT FLASHES ON AND OFF WHEN A PERSON AROUND 75-150LBS SITS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THIS HAPPENS AT ANY SPEED. OCCASIONALLY THE AIRBAG LIGHT WILL WORK NORMALLY; ISSUE SEEMS TO BE RELATED TO WHETHER THE SEAT IS OCCUPIED WHEN THE ENGINE IS STARTED, OR OCCUPIED AFTER THE ENGINE IS STARTED. MANY OTHERS ON PT CRUISER FORUMS REPORT SIMILAR SYMPTOMS. *TR

THE FUEL LINE HAD RUSTED THROUGH AND WAS LEAKING FUEL. THE CONTACT STATED THE FUEL LINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND A SHIELD WOULD HAVE TO BE INSTALLED BETWEEN THE AIR CONDITIONER ACCUMULATOR AND THE FUEL LINE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,086.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH AND IN AN ATTEMPT TO AVOID CRASHING INTO AN ANIMAL, ABRUPTLY MOVED THE STEERING WHEEL. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A DITCH. THE VEHICLE ROLLED OVER FOUR TIMES BEFORE LANDING UPSIDE, ON ALL FOUR WHEELS. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY WITH THE IMPACT. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED SEVERE INJURIES TO THE NECK. THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE SHOULDER, RIGHT KNEE AND A FRACTURED STERNUM. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED FOR THE CAUSE OF THE AIR BAG FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE. HOWEVER, THERE WERE TIMES WHEN SHE APPROACHED A STOP SIGN WHEN THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SURGE AND STALL WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BOTH AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC A TOTAL OF FOUR TIMES. THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE ENGINE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE ENGINE NO LONGER BEING PRODUCED BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
APPROXIMATELY 3 -4 MONTHS AGO I TOOK MY CAR TO THE MECHANIC BECAUSE THE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS INTERMITTENTLY COMING ON. A COMPLETE DIAGNOSTIC WAS COMPLETED AND THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT "NOTHING IS WRONG WITH IT." A WEEK LATER THE PROBLEM CONTINUED AND THE BATTERY LIGHT BECAME COMING ON. ABOUT A WEEK AFTER THAT, I WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 40 MPH WHEN ALL OF THE LIGHTS (BATTERY, TRACTION OFF, ABS, BRAKE, AIRBAG, OIL, ETC) CAME ON AND BEGAN FLASHING AT DIFFERENT INTERVALS. MY HEADLIGHTS AND DASHLIGHTS ALSO BEGAN TO FLICKER BEFORE THE CAR DIED AND WOULD NOT RESTART. I HAD PURCHASED A NEW BATTERY JUST WEEKS PRIOR, SO THIS WAS NOT THE PROBLEM. I AGAIN TOWED THE CAR TO THE SHOP WHERE I WAS AGAIN TOLD THAT THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS. I'VE BEEN DRIVING THE CAR FOR TWO WEEKS AND TRYING TO IGNORE THE BATTERY AND AIRBAG LIGHTS FLASHING. LAST NIGHT WHILE TRAVELING ON A MAJOR ROAD AT 50 MPH, THE CAR'S LIGHTS AGAIN BEGAN FLASHING, THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT, AND THE CAR EVENTUALLY DIED AND WOULD NOT RESTART. THE CAR WAS TOWED HOME AND AFTER SITTING FOR AN HOUR, IT RESTARTED, BUT THE LIGHTS WERE STILL FLICKERING. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHERE THEY ADVISED THE DEALER TO PERFORM A DIAGNOSTIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
FOG LIGHTS GOING ON/OFF WITHOUT ACTIVATION BY DRIVER. AFTER MOTOR WAS SHUT OFF FOG LIGHTS CONTINUE TO STAY ON. TRYING TO CONTROL FOG LIGHT FUNCTION THRU MULTI-FUNCTION SWITCH NOT SUCCESSFUL. HAD TO PULL FOG LIGHT FUSE FROM FUSE PANEL. PT CRUISER WEBSITES CONFIRM THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH MULTI-FUNCTION SWITCH ON MOST MODEL YEARS OF PT CRUISERS. *TR
PLEASE HELP, THIS IS MY ONLY CAR AND MY SON AND I DEPEND ON IT FOR EVERYTHING. WHILE DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY MY VEHICLE BEGAN MISSING ( SHAKING ETC..) UNTIL IT FINALLY DIED ON THE EXPRESSWAY. CAR ENGINE DIES WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE (RANDOM) 6. CAR DIES NO RESPONSE FOR SECONDS THEN IT RESTARTS AT HIGH SPEEDS ON THE EXPRESS WAY. I TOOK IT TO AN AUTO PARTS STORE THAT WILL DIAGNOSE PROBLEMS WITH CARS USING A TOOL THAT THEY HOOK UP TO THE CAR. THEY SAID IT WAS THE CAM SHAFT SENSOR, MY FATHER CONTACTED THE LOCAL SERVICE STATION AND THEY RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE TIMING CHAIN AS WELL. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN ON GOING SINCE 2012, THOUGH I WOULD LOVE TO SELL IT I WOULD FEEL RESPONSIBLE IF SOMEONE WAS KILLED BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. THE CONTACT PURCHASED NEW TIRES AND REPLACED BOTH FRONT TIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BLOW OUT OCCURRED ALONG THE OUTER SIDEWALL. THE MANUFACTURER OF THE TIRES WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE ON THE TIRES WAS 17,000. THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
ENGINE LITE CAME ON. REPLACED RECOMMENDED PARTS. LITE CAME OFF AND ON OVER A YEAR OR SO WITH SAME DIAGNOSTIC. REPLACED SAME PART IN LATE 2013 AND LITE STILL STAYS ON. I AM TOLD NOW IT IS THE COMPUTER ITSELF. HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR PT CRUISER OWNERS AND THAT MANY REPLACE THE SAME PARTS I DID AND IT IS TO NO AVAIL. TO MY BEST OF RECALL IT IS THE UPPER/IN LOWER/OUT OXYGEN 2 SENSOR. WITH THE COMPUTER (ENGINE LITE) CAUSING THIS PROBLEM CHRYSLER SHOULD HAVE A RECALL ON IT. *TR
WHEN REPLACING FRONT BRAKE PADS ON MY 2005 PT CRUISER, TURBO, I NOTICED ONE FRONT ROTOR HAD EXCESSIVE WEAR, SO I NEEDED TO PURCHASE TWO NEW ROTORS. I WENT TO O'REILLY'S AUTO PARTS STORE, AND THEY HAD EVERYTHING IN STOCK. AFTER REPLACING ONE ROTOR, I ATTEMPTED TO INSTALL THE BRAKE PADS INTO THE BRAKE PAD BRACKET, BUT THEY WOULDN'T GO OVER THE NEW ROTOR. AFTER COMPARING THE OLD ROTORS TO THE NEW ONES, I NOTICED THE NEW ONES WERE MUCH THICKER THAT THE OLD ROTORS. I WENT BACK TO O' REILLY'S WITH BOTH SET OF ROTORS THINKING THEY GAVE ME THE WRONG ROTORS. AT O' REILLY'S AFTER LOOKING THROUGH THIER MANUALS, THEY TOLD ME THAT THE ROTORS THEY GAVE ME ARE THE CORRECT ROTORS. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION IT COMES OUT THAT MY 2005 TURBO PT CRUISER HAS NON- TURBO BRAKE PARTS ON IT. THE ROTORS, PADS, AND BRAKE PAD BRACKETS ARE FOR A STANDARD CRUISER. I THINK CHRYSLER SHOULD BE NOTIFIED, AND INSTALL THE ALL THE CORRECT BRAKE PARTS THAT BELONG ON MY PT TURBO.
IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE REAR LIGHTS WERE NOT ON WITH THE HEADLIGHTS AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS(SAME BULBS) WERE NOT WORKING. UPON INVESTIGATION, BOTH LIGHT BULBS HAD BURST. WHEN TAKING IT TO THE PARTS STORE, THEY FELT THAT THE BULBS HAD BROKEN BECAUSE WATER HAD GOTTEN INTO THE HOUSING WITH THE BULBS. THE HOUSING WAS NOT CRACKED, SO IT WAS NOT DUE TO AN ACCIDENT. AND THE BULBS ON BOTH SIDES HAD FAILED SIMILARLY WHICH WOULD INDICATE A COMMON CAUSE WHICH WOULD SEEM TO BE A DESIGN DEFECT. THIS COULD HAVE EASILY RESULTED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. THANKS TO A STRANGER, I WAS INFORMED ABOUT IT BEFORE AN ACCIDENT OCCURRED. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF ONCE THE SMOKE DECREASED AND WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
THE FUEL LINE/PRESSURE REGULATOR ASSEMBLY HAS BEEN REPLACED FOR THE THIRD TIME BECAUSE THE PRESSURE REGULATOR LEAKS, SPRAYING GAS ON THE FIREWALL. INCLUDING THE ORIGINAL PART, THIS IS NOW THE FOURTH ASSEMBLY IN THIS VEHICLE. WE HAVE HAD THE SERVICE PERFORMED AT AN INDEPENDENT FACILITY, NOT CHRYSLER, BUT THE PARTS HAVE BEEN PURCHASED FORM CHRYSLER. MY SERVICE TECH SAYS HE REPLACES 50 OR 60 OF THESE PER YEAR. THIS IS A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. WHEN THE ASSEMBLY FAILS, THE ODOR OF GAS PERMEATES THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND IS VERY STRONG OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 55000 MILES ON IT AND THE FIRST REPLACEMENT WAS AT ABOUT 40000 MILES. *TR
THE MULTIFUNCTION LIGHT SWITCH CAUSES THE FOG LIGHTS TO TURN ON AND OFF AT RANDOM, EVEN WHEN IGNITION IS OFF. ISSUE HAPPENS AT ALL SPEEDS. *TR
RECENTLY, I NOTICED A PUDDLE OF OIL FORMING UNDER MY CAR WHEN IT WAS PARKED BRIEFLY. A CHECK OF OIL SHOWED THAT IT WAS SLIGHTLY BELOW NORMAL, BUT WELL WITHIN RANGE. TOPPED UP OIL AND STARTED ENGINE, AND STEADY STREAM OF OIL WAS SEEN TO BE COMING FROM CRANK OIL SEAL. THE DAY BEFORE THIS CAR DID NOT DRIP A DROP OF OIL. MECHANIC FOUND SEAL WAS IN TACT, BUT COMPLETELY LOOSE FROM ENGINE. HAD SEAL REPLACED BY CERTIFIED MECHANIC, AND IN LESS THAN 15 MILES THE OIL LEAK RETURNED. AFTER SEEING MULTIPLE SIMILAR ACCOUNTS ON INTERNET, HAD THE MECHANIC OPEN THE ENGINE AND FOUND THE CRANK END PLAY TO BE WELL OVER .020" AND THE THRUST BEARING WIPED ALONG WITH DAMAGE TO THE CRANK THRUST FACE. ODDLY CHRYSLER SEEMS TO ONLY INSTALL THE THRUST BEARING ON ONLY THE TOP HALF IN THIS DESIGN. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE THE THRUST BEARING FAILS, THE CRANKSHAFT THEN WALKS INTO THE BACK OF THE SEAL AND KNOCKS IT OUT. FORTUNATELY, I NOTICED THE PUDDLE, BEFORE THIS FAILED AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THIS COULD HAVE EMPTIED THE OIL IN MINUTES AND SEIZED UP THE ENGINE AT SPEED. THIS IS CLEARLY A KNOWN DESIGN FLAW THAT CHRYSLER IS AVOIDING TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR. NO ENGINE SHOULD HAVE THIS SORT OF FAILURE IN THE 21ST CENTURY! *TR
MY PT CRUISER CONVERTIBLE STARTED MAKING A THUMPING NOISE WHEN I WOULD TURN. THE NOISE WOULD COME FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. LIMPED IT TO LES SCHWAB AND WAS TOLD I NEEDED TO REPLACE STRUTS AND SOME PLATE THING THAT GOES ON TOP. I WILL HAVE TO $750.00 OUT OF POCKET. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED NUMEROUS TIMES, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 35,000.

HEARD THUMPING NOISE ON RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE AND NEW TIRES WORE OUT PREMATURELY. MECHANIC INVESTIGATED AND FOUND FRONT END SEALED BEARINGS WERE COMPLETELY SHOT. SINCE CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY IT COST US $800 TO REPAIR. BASED ON THE OTHER COMPLAINTS WE HAVE FOUND, THIS SEEMS TO BE A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL AND SHOULD BE SUBJECT TO RECALL. *TR
