I WAS TAKING MY SON TO SCHOOL AND AS I TURNED THE CORNER THE BALL JOINT COMPLETLY POPPED REAL LOUD AND MY LEFT REAR TIRE CAVES IN COMPLETELY. THEN A WEEK LATER THE RIGHT SIDE REAR DID THE SAME THING EXCEPT I WAS ON A LONG STRETCH ROAD AND A LOUD POP, TIRE CAVES IN AND I STARTED SWIRLING UNCONTROLABLY. UNKNOWN AS TO WHY OR HOW IT JUST ALL A SUDDEN POPPED. I DID FIX BOTH REAR BALL JOINTS MY RECEIPTS ARE WITH ORIELLYS AUTO. AND ALSO STEERING SUSPENSION IS SOUNDING FUNNY AND NO MECHANIC CAN FIND THE PROBLEM.

THE CONTACTED CALLED THE DEALER MONTHS AGO AND THEY INDICATED THAT THE PART HAD NOT BEEN AVAILABLE TO SCHEDULE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO VERIFY WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD BE REPAIRED AND WAS ADVISED TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER TO DETERMINE WHEN THE PARTS MAY BE SUPPLIED TO THE DEALER. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.

WE WE ON INTERSTATE 55 IN MEMPHIS TN, HEADED SOUTH, TRAVELING AT 55 WHEN THE CAR ACCELERATOR BEGAN TO STICK AND THE CAR INCREASED IN SPEED, SO I STAYED ON THE BRAKES UNTIL I COULD SMELL THE BRAKES, SO AT THE SOUTHHAVEN EXIT WE TURNED THE ENGINE OFF, AND COAST UNTIL WE COULD STOP, AND TURN THE MOTOR BACK ON AND THE CAR WAS STILL IDLE, AND SUDDENLY WENT BACK TO NORMAL. WE DROVE ALL THE WAY TO WATER VALLEY, MS WE THE CAR DID THE SAME THING AND WE FOLLOWED THE SAME PROCEDURE UNTIL WE MADE IT HOME AT 456 COUNTY ROAD 176, WATER VALLEY, MS. MY HUSBAND HAD JUST LEFT THE HOSPITAL IN MEMPHIS WHERE HE HAD BACK SURGERY.

IT WAS CHRISTMAS EVE WE WERE LEAVING A FRIENDS HOUSE HEADED HOME I WAS AT A STOP SIGN MAKING A RIGHT TURN WHEN I STARTED TO SMELL RUBBER BURNING BUT ASSUMED IT WAS THE CAR AHEAD OF ME I STARTED TO PICK UP SPEED I WAS IN A 35MPH ZONE WHEN WE HEARD A LOUD BOOM I PULLED OVER AT A LOCAL PARK. I LOOKED TO SEE MY DRIVER SIDE BACK TIRE WAS FACING INWARD AND WOULD NOT STAND STRAIGHT I CALL MY FATHER INLAW WHO IS A MECHANIC AND HE REPLACED THE LOWER CONTROL ARM. I AM NOW HAVING TO REPLACE THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE NOW BECAUSE IT IS SITTING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR A SECOND TIME. *TR
AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AS I WAS PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT. TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL, IT MADE A BIT OF A CRUNCHING SOUND. LIGHT STAYED ON; SOUND HAPPENED WHENEVER STEERTING WHEEL TURNED. CALLED MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS THE AIR BAG MAY DEPLOY. FURTHER DIAGNOSTIC REVEALED THE NEED FOR A REPLACEMENT CLOCK SPRING FOR THE AIR BAG WHICH IS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR BUT THE CAR WAS DEEMED TOO UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS IT IS. SOME TIME BACK, I WAS HEARING A SQUEAKING WHILE TURNING THE WHEELS VERY SLOWLY AND THOUGHT IT WAS A TIRE ISSUE, BUT NOTHING APPEARED TO BE A PROBLEM THERE. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHRYSLER SEBRING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, SHE NOTICED AN ABNORMAL RUBBER SMELL AS THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN ONTO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND WAS RESTARTED AFTER APPROXIMATELY ONE HOUR. ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT ADDED FREON TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVABLE BUT CONTINUED LEAKING FREON. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC, WHO INDICATED THAT THE WATER PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 131,000. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHRYSLER SEBRING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT SMELLED A BURNING ODOR COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART. UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE WIRES IN THE INTERIOR FUSE BOX MELTED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR FROM SOMEONE THAT BOUGHT IT FROM THE ACTION AND THE SHOCK SUSPENSION ARE TOTALLY GONE REAL BD WANTED TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON THEM ALSO OTHER LITTLE THINGS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2001 CHRYSLER SEBRING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, SHE ATTEMPTED TO AVOID ANOTHER VEHICLE FROM CRASHING INTO THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A CONCRETE WALL AND THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE FRONT PASSENGER SUSTAINED FACE INJURIES FROM THE PLASTIC COVER FROM THE AIR BAGS AND REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A POLICE LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHRYSLER SEBRING COUPE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH UP AN INCLINE THE TRANSMISSION FAILED TO RESPOND. THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THEN TOWED TO HIS RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. AFTER STOPPING AND PARKING CAR, IT WAS A COMPLETELY DEAD SOUND WHEN I TRIED TO START IT AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE SO FAR IN A MONTH. I JACKED UP THE CAR ON DRIVERS SIDE, JUST LET DOWN THE JACK; AND IT STARTED BOTH TIMES. THE LOCKS DON'T WORK AND THE WINDOWS CAN ONLY BE CONTROLLED BY THE DRIVER. CHECKED ALL FUSES BUT THE BOTTOM LINE IS THIS CAR HAS ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. *TR

I WAS GOING DOWN 250 AT 40 MPH AND A WOMAN STOPPED IN FRONT OF ME NOT GIVING ME ENOUGH TIME TO STOP AND I REAR-ENDED HER. THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE WAS SMASHED AND THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. I WAS TAKING TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM WITH INJURY TO MY BACK AND HEAD. *TR
STARTED THE VEHICLE AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT LITE UP AND I HEARD A CHIME, AFTER ABOUT 15 SECONDS IT WENT OFF AND THEN KEPT REPEATING THIS CYCLE. *TR
ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO SLUDGE BUILDUP DESPITE BETTER THAN RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE.
I RECENTLY GOT MY CAR AND LOVE IT EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT WATER IS BUILDING UP ON THE DRIVER SIDE FLOOR BOARD IN THE FRONT. I DO NOT KNOW IF ITS THE DRAIN HOLES OR THE CONDENSATION HOSE. EITHER WAY I AM ATTEMPTING TO FIX THESE MYSELF, BUT THERE SEEMS TO BE A LARGE AMOUNT OF CHRYSLER OWNERS ON SEVERAL MODELS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. WE NEED TO GET THIS RESOLVED FOR ALL THE THOUSANDS OF CHRYSLER OWNERS HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. *JB
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH ON THE ROAD, THE RPMS REVED UP TO HIGH LEVELS AND THE CAR ACCLERATED AT A HIGHER SPEED WITHOUT INTENTION, AFTER LETTING FOOT COMPLETELY OFF THE GAS PEDAL THE RPMS CONTINUED TO GO TO HIGH LEVELS AND CAR AUTOMATICALLY DROVE ITSELF WITHOUT ACCELERATING THE GAS PEDAL AND EVEN WHILE BREAKING THE RPMS CONTINUED TO REV UP AND CAR DROVE ITSELF. AFTER FINALLY BEING ABLE TO GET THE CAR SLOWED DOWN ENOUGH IT WAS ABLE TO BE PUT INTO PARK, HOWEVER, AFTER TRYING TO GO INTO DRIVE OR ANOTHER GEAR THE RPMS REVED UP AGAIN. AFTER GETTING VEHICLE APPARENTLY FIXED OF THAT PROBLEM IN WHICH THEY BELIEVED TO BE A GAS PEDAL PROBLEM, ONE WEEK LATER THE SAME EXPERIENCE HAPPENED AGAIN ON THE ROAD, A SPLASH WAS HEARD UNDERNEATH THE HOOD AS IF SOMETHING BROKE SPLASHING FLUID, THE CAR WENT INTO A NEUTRAL LIKE POSITION WHILE DRIVING AND THE CAR WOULD NOT GO INTO ANY OTHER GEAR AFTER. AFTER GETTING IT INSPECTED IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. I HAVE LOOKED ON INTERNET TO FIND MANY OTHER VERY SIMILIAR EXPERIENCES WITH OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THIS SAME EXACT YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL CAR AND HAVE FOUND FAULTY VALVE SPRING IN THESE TRANSMISSIONS. *JS
ON FEBRUARY 14 2012 SOMETHING ON MY LEFT DRIVER SIDE WHEEL BROKE, I COULD NO LONG STEER AND THE WHEEL LAID OUTWARD TOWARD THE GROUND. THERE IS A LONG ARM LIKE PART, THAT WAS LITERALLY HANGING OFF THE WHEEL. IT IS NOW UNOPERABLE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND I AM SO GLAD I WAS ONLY GOING ABOUT 30 MPH DUE TO TRAFFIC, I WAS ABLE TO MOVE TO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT A AUTO ACCIDENT. *TR

THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 00V299002 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING: ENGINE) WAS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH THE CONTACT'S VIN. A LOCAL MECHANIC INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DIAGNOSED THAT ANTIFREEZE LEAKED INTO THE ENGINE, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 138,000.
THIS WAS THE SECOND FAILURE OF CHRYSLER'S 2.7 V-6 ENGINE. NEITHER ENGINE FAILURE WARRANTY WAS UPHELD BY PROVIDERS. FIRST ONE WAS AT 49000 MILES AND FAILED DUE TO ENGINE SLUDGE, EXTENDED WARRANTY WAS NOT HONORED DUE TO OWNER NEGLECT, EVEN THOUGH I PROVIDED ALL RECEIPTS FOR ALL OIL CHANGES REQUIRED. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE COMMON FOR PREMATURE FAILURE OF THIS ENGINE. I PURCHASED A NEW ENGINE AND 3 YEARS AND 14000 MILES ANOTHER FAILURE OCCURRED. THIS TIME NO REASON COULD BE FOUND FOR THE FAILURE AND IN SPITE OF MECHANICS STATEMENT THAT ALL FLUIDS WERE PRESENT AT TIME OF ENGINE REMOVAL TO BE SHIPPED FOR INSPECTION, IT WAS DETERMINED TO BE OWNER CAUSED AND WARRANTY NOT HONORED. CURRENTLY ENGINE IS BEING EXAMINED BY A THIRD PARTY INDEPENDENT FACILITY TO DETERMINE CAUSE FOR A FUTURE LEGAL ACTION. *TR

THE CONTACT TRIED TO PRESS HARDER ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ABNORMALLY. THE VEHICLE THEN DECELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. ON A SEPARATE OCCASION WHILE ENTERING A PARKING SPACE WITH THE BRAKES DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED AND THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED HER THAT A VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHRYSLER SEBRING. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED ON A CONSISTENT BASIS. WHEN THE HORN WAS ENGAGED IT FAILED TO FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO ADVISED HER THAT THE CLOCK SPRING FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE CLOCK SPRING. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 109,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHRYSLER SEBRING. THE CONTACT STATED AFTER RAINY WEATHER CONDITIONS WATER WOULD LEAK ONTO THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE CARPET. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THE DEFECT WAS RELATED TO THE FIREWALL SEAL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. IN ADDITION, THE CRUISE CONTROL AND HORN FAILED TO OPERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A DEFECTIVE CLOCK SPRING AND COULD RESULT IN THE AIR BAGS NOT PROPERLY DEPLOYING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THERE WAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN, ITEM NUMBER 082700, PERTAINING TO THE AIR BAG FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 136,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHRYSLER SEBRING. THE CONTACT STATED THE HORN AND THE DRIVERS REAR WINDOW FAILED TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE HORN WOULD NOT WORK AND THE WINDOW WOULD NOT OPEN OR CLOSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST THAT LOCATED THE FAILURE WITHIN THE WINDOW REGULATOR AND THE HORN WIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. WHEN I PARK MY CAR OR STOP AT INTERSECTION IT DOES NOT MOVE WHEN I GIVE GAS, I GIVE MORE AND MORE GAS THEN CAR START MOVES. WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM I DON'T KNOW. DTC IS P0007 SHOWING TRANSAXLE. *LN
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHRYSLER SEBRING CONVERTIBLE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD BANGING NOISE. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. UPON EXAMINING THE VEHICLE, HE NOTICED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL BECAME LOOSE. THE BALL JOINT FRACTURED FROM THE CONTROL ARM. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 104,000.
WHILE DRIVING MY NEWLY BOUGHT 2001 CHRYSLER SEBRING, I STARTED HEARING SOME RATTLING SOUNDS AND SAW SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY AND I PRAYED THAT IT WOULD DIE ON ME AS I TRIED TO EXIT TO THE NEXT GAS STATION. LUCKILY I MANAGED TO EXIT AND PARKED AT THE STATION. I QUICKLY TOOK OUT MY TWO SONS AND MY WIFE FROM THE CAR BECAUSE I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN. I THEN CALLED A MECHANIC AND HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A CHRYSLER DODGE DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD THAT THE CAR NEEDS A NEW ENGINE AT A COST OF $5000. I AM STILL IN SHOCK. LOOKING ONLINE I FOUND OUT THAT THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE REPORTED SIMILAR ENGINE PROBLEMS ON THIS PARTICULAR 2.7L ENGINE. I THINK THAT CHRYSLER SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR INADEQUATE STANDARDS ESPECIALLY WITH THIS KIND OF ENGINE. MY FAMILY'S LIFE WAS IN DANGER AND I HOPE THAT YOU WILL HELP ME RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. I DON'T HAVE ANY MONEY TO BUY A NEW ENGINE. THANKS. *TR
1. NORMAL USE OF FAN BLOWER WITH A/C OR HEATER IN A 2001 CHRYSLER SEBRING SEDAN LXI. 2. BLOWER BECOMES INOPERATIVE INTERMITTENTLY AT ALL SPEEDS WITH EITHER A/C OR HEATER ON. THE INTERMITTENT PART OF THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN OCCURRING SINCE MY WIFE BOUGHT THE CAR NEW. FAN BLOWER MOTOR WAS REPLACED TWICE, BLOWER RESISTOR BLOCK WAS REPLACED THREE TIMES. IN TROUBLESHOOTING THE PROBLEM, I FOUND THAT THE CONTACTS OF THE POWER WIRE FROM THE BLOWER FAN TO THE BLOWER RESISTOR AT THE RESISTOR ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR DEVELOPED A HIGH RESISTANCE THUS CAUSING THE CONTACTS TO OVERHEAT. THE CONTACTS OVERHEATED TO THE POINT OF MELTING BOTH SIDES THE CONNECTOR'S PLASTIC TOGETHER. IN ORDER TO REPLACE THE RESISTOR, I HAD TO BREAK THE PLASTIC OF THE RESISTOR CONNECTOR IN ORDER TO REMOVE IT. FURTHER EXAMINATION REVEALED THE PRESENCE OF A SMOKE TRAIL COMING FROM THE PIN 1 (POWER WIRE) SIDE OF THE CONNECTOR. SEVERAL DAYS BEFORE, I THOUGHT I DETECTED THE ODOR OF A BURNING ELECTRICAL COMPONENT. IF THE CONTACT HAD NOT CHANGED, THUS LOWERING THE RESISTANCE, A FIRE WOULD DEFINITELY RESULT. THE MELTED PLASTIC OF THE CONNECTOR ENDS LEADS ME TO SAY THAT A FIRE DID OCCUR. THE RESISTANCE WAS HIGH ENOUGH TO MELT THE PLASTIC, BUT NOT BLOW THE 30 AMP FUSE. 3. THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR BLOWER RESISTOR WAS CUT OFF. SINCE THERE ARE NO REPLACEMENT CONNECTORS AVAILABLE, I USED INSULATED FEMALE "SPADE" QUICK DISCONNECT TERMINALS CRIMPED TO EACH WIRE TO CONNECT THE BLOWER RESISTOR. A SMALL DAB OF RTV SILICON WAS APPLIED TO EACH TERMINAL TO HELP LOCK THEM IN PLACE. BEFORE REINSTALLING A NEW BLOWER RESISTOR, I ENLARGED THE HOLE TO THE AIR DUCT WHERE THE RESISTOR MOUNTS INTO. THE ORIGINAL HOLE CUT OUT FROM THE FACTORY WAS TOO SMALL FOR THE RESISTOR TO EASILY FIT INTO. THIS I FEEL CONTRIBUTES TO THE PROBLEM. I HAVE KEPT THE OLD PARTS AS EVIDENCE. *TR

ENGINE RUINED. CAR HAD TO BE TOWED FROM HWY. CAR RAN PERFECTLY BEFORE GOING ON THE HWY. I HAVE SERVICE RECORDS TO PROVE THE OIL WAS CHANGED WITH SYNTHETIC OIL EVERY 3,000 MILES. I HAVE A RECEIPT TO PROVE I TOPPED OFF THE COOLANT PRIOR TO THE ENGINE FAILURE. MY EXTENDED WARRANTY DENIED THE CLAIM ON MARCH 3.
