WALMART BRAND - GOODYEAR VIVA TOURING TIRES - DUAL TIRE FAILURE - HIGH SPEED. *JB
TWO WEEKS AFTER A REGULAR OIL CHANGE, THE 2.7L ENGINE ON MY '01 SEBRING MADE A LARGE CLUNK. THE DEALERSHIP MECHANIC SAID IT HAD BLOWN A ROD (RUINED). CAUSE OF THE FAILURE ACCORDING TO DEALERSHIP WAS "OIL SLUDGE." NOT COVERED IN WARRANTY. PRICE QUOTED FOR REPLACEMENT WAS $7-8000. MILEAGE AT THE TIME WAS 47443. *AK
WHEN DRIVING ANY SPEED, THE CONSUMER HEARD A TAPPING NOISE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE PROBLEM WAS PERTAINING TO ENGINE SLUDGE. *JB
SPORADICALLY THE FUSE THAT CONTROLS THE STARTER AND FUEL PUMP BLEW UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE FUSE IS REPLACED EVERYTHING IS FINE. ON 1 OCCASION WHEN THIS OCCURRED 12 FUSES WHERE REPLACED, AND THEY ALL BLEW OUT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED. THE STARTER WAS DIAGNOSED AS THE PROBLEM AND REPLACED. THE FOLLOWING DAY THE PROBLEM RECURRED. DEALERSHIP KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR A WEEK, AND INDICATED THAT THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO GET THE PROBLEM TO CONSTANTLY RECUR IN ORDER TO FURTHER DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM.*AK
ENGINE ON MY 2001 SEBRING SEDAN IS IDLING ROUGHLY FROM LOSS OF COMPRESSION IN ONE OR TWO CYLINDERS. CAR HAD JUST OVER 60,000 MILE WHEN IT STARTED AND DEALER TOOK CAR FOR TWO DAYS, CHARGED ME HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO CLEAN INJECTORS AND REPLACE THE INJECTOR IN THE LOW COMPRESSION CYLINDER, AND COULDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. THEN STATED IT'S PROBABLY THE ENGINE BUT I JUST WENT OVER THE 60,000 COVERAGE AND A REPAIR WOULDN'T BE COVERED. I MAINTAINED THE VEHICLE AND HAVE RECORDS FOR ALL WORK DONE ON IT SINCE I BOUGHT IT NEW. CHRYSLER SHOULD MAKE GOOD TO REPAIR OR REPLACE THE PROBLEM WHATEVER IT IS SINCE I'M NOW BECOMING AWARE OF MANY OTHER SLUDGE PROBLEMS IN THE SAME 2.7 6 CYL ENGINE WHICH APPARENTLY HAS DEFECTS IN ITS MANUFACTURING. *AK
DRIVER WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION. UPON IMPACT BOTH FRONTAL AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. DRIVER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. *AK
HEARD KNOCKING COMING FROM THE ENGINE AT AROUND 59,000 MILES. SAID TO BE THE RESULT OF OIL SLUDGE. WAS TOLD THAT I NEED A NEW ENGINE AT A COST OF $6000.00. HAVEN'T REPLACED ENGINE. STILL HAVE TO MAKE THE CAR PAYMENTS ON A CAR THAT DOES NOT WORK. *AK
WHILE DRIVING CONSUMER HEARD A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED THE DEALER FOR AN APPOINTMENT TO BRING IT IN. MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK THE CONSUMER WOULD LIKE CHRYSLER TO RECALL THIS VEHICLE DUE TO THE ALL THE OTHER CONSUMER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS VEHICLE. *TC
OIL CHANGED EVERY 3,000 MILES. KNOCKING STARTED TO OCCUR. AS I WAS DRIVING TO GET IT LOOKED AT, MOTOR JUST STOPPED. 2001 CHRYSLER SEBRING 2.7L MOTOR. 69000 MILES. DIAGNOSED AS BROKEN TIMING CHAIN, NEW MOTOR NEEDED $6,000-$7,000. GARAGE HAD SEEN QUITE A FEW RECENTLY WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. ONE OPTION WAS TO BUY A NEW ENGINE THAT HAD BEEN MODIFIED TO CORRECT ORIGINAL MANUFACTURING PROBLEM, OR TO PURCHASE A NEW OR REBUILT ENGINE. SINCE REBUILT ENGINE WAS $1000 LESS THAN OTHER OPTIONS WENT WITH THAT OPTION. *JB
AT ABOUT 51,000 MILES MY CAR BEGAN MAKING LOUD SQUEAKING NOISES FROM THE FRONT END EVERY TIME YOU PASS OVER A SMALL BUMP IN THE ROAD. IT ALSO DEVELOPED MAJOR VIBRATIONS IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN THE CAR WAS SLOWING UP TO STOP. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO THE CHRYLSER DEALER I WAS TOLD THAT THE INNER TIE RODS WERE METAL TO METAL AND IT ALSO NEEDED NEW RACK AND PINION STEERING. THIS AMOUNTS TO NEARLY $1,000 EXPENSE ON A CAR JUST A LITTLE MORE THAN ONE YEAR FROM THE TIME THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. THE CAR IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE SINCE THE STEERING CAN GO OUT. I HAD VERY LITTLE ADVANCE WARNING OF THIS PROBLEM AND AM NOT PREPARED TO INVEST THIS KIND OF MONEY IN ORDER TO HAVE A SAFE CAR FOR ME AND MY FAMILY. WE HAD PLANNED TO DRIVE THIS CAR ON VACATION IN THREE WEEKS. IF I HAD NOT TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER TO INVESTIGATE, IT VERY WELL MIGHT HAVE CAUSED A FATAL CRASH WITH MY TWO SONS IN THE CAR. *AK
WHILE DRIVING THE ENGINE SEIZED UP. THERE WAS NO WARNING. THE BLOCKED HAD TO BE REPLACED. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *NM
I OWN A 2001 CHRYSLER SEBRING COUPE PURCHASED NEW. I WAS OUT OF MY WARRANTY FOR SOME OF MY REPAIRS HOWEVER. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE MY CAR SINCE JUNE 20,2004 SINCE THAT TIME I HAVE SPENT AN ENORMOUS AMOUT OF MONEY RENTING CARS. THE TIMING CHAIN BROKE WHICH IN TURNS DAMAGE THE ENGINE WHICH I HAD TO PAY FOR. BUT WHEN ALL OF THIS HAPPENED I DID CALL CHRYSLER TO FIND OUT IF THERE WHERE ANY RECALL ON THE 2.7 LITER ENGINE THEY OF COURSE REPLED NO.I HAD ALSO CALLED A CHRYSLER DEALER TO FIND OUT WHY THEY DIDN'T SEEM TO KNOW I WAS TOLD THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THEY KNOWLEGED ABOUT THOSE ENGINES THAT THEY DIDN'T KNOW. SINCE THAT TIME I HAD TO SEARCH FOR THAT SAME ENGINE WHICH IS NOT AN EASY EGINE TO FIND.I HAVE SPENT OVER 3,300 TO HAVE THIS ENEGINE REPLACED. HOWEVER IN DEALING WITH THIS AND STILL OWE THE FINANCE COMPANY FOR THIS CAR, I HAVE LATE PAYMENT ON MY CREDIT REPORT. I HAVE BEEN SO STRESSED OUT OVER THIS IT HAS EFFECTED MY WORK, PERSONEL LIFE, DEALING WITH THIS HEADACHE.*AK
THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE WHEN THE ENGINE STALLED ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED AND IS NOW AT THE DEALERS. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THERE WAS A SLUG BUILD UP ON THE ROD AND IN THE OIL PAN. THE VEHICLE HAD AN OVERHEATING PROBLEM PRIOR TO THIS OCCURRENCE, WHEN THE CAR WAS IN IDLE THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT WARM, ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING IT WARMED UP. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE'S WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED AS WELL AS THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. *JB
2001 CHRYSLER SEBRING LXI 2.7L V6. VEHICLE PURCHASED APRIL 2002 AS CERTIFIED 8/80. LOUD KNOCKING FROM ENGINE. ENGINE SIEZED UP ON FREEWAY AND DIED. DEALER FOUND TIMING CHAINS BROKEN, THEW A ROD, ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO OIL SLUDGE BUILD UP. CHRYSLER REFUSED TO COVER UNDER WARRANTY CLAIMING LACK OF OWNER MAINT. RECORDS. HAD ENGINE REPLACED FOR $7500.00.
PREMATURE ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO SLUDGE.*MR WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE JUST ALL OF A SUDDEN STOP RUNNING, THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS. *JB
THIS COMPLAINT IS REGARDING THE PAINT AND CLEAR COAT USE ON THE 2001 CHRYSLER SEBRING. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW FROM A CHRYSLER DEALER. ABOUT 3 YRS AFTER THE CAR WAS PURCHASED THE CLEAR COAT AND PAINT STARTED TO CHIP AWAY,THIS HAS BEEN GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS. THE RESULT IS THAT THE TRUNK, ROOF AND HOOD OF THIS VEHICLE HAVE NO CLEAR COAT, AND IT IS NOW STARTING TO CHIP AWAY ON THE DOORS AND QUARTER PANELS. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES, THEY KEEP REFERRING US TO THE CORPORATE OFFICE. WE HAVE CONTACTED THE CORPORATE OFFICE A FEW TIMES, THEY SAY THEY WILL GET BACK TO US, AND THEY NEVER DO. ROUTINE VEHICLE MAINTENANCE WAS DONE ON THIS VEHICLE. WHAT ELSE CAN WE DO? *TR
OIL WAS CHANGED EVERY 3000 MILES. NO WARNING LIGHTS OR ANY TYPE OF WARNING WHEN MY ENGINE FAILED AFTER ONLY 43,000 MILES. IT IS A 2001 CHRYSLER SEBRING SEDAN. AFTER RESEARCHING I FOUND THAT THESE ENGINES 2.7 LITER FOUND IN THE SEBRING AND INTREPID ARE PRONE TO SLUDGE AND PREMATURE FAILURE. MY WARRANTY WAS UP AT 36,000 MILES AND I AM GOING BACK AND FORTH TRYING TO GET SOME HELP WITH THESE REPAIRS CONSISTING OF $4988.45. A NEW ENGINE SHOULD NOT BE NEEDED IN A VEHICLE WITH 43,000 MILES. (AND I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE) I HAVE SPOKEN TO 5 DIFFERENT MECHANICS AND THEY ARE ALL AWARE OF THESE ENGINE PROBLEMS. I WAS STRANDED 150 MILES FROM HOME, IT WAS GRADUATION WK-END SO NO HOTEL ROOMS AND NO RENTAL CARS AVAILABLE. I WAS OUTSIDE OF KIRKSVILLE MO. AND HAD TO RIDE WITH A STRANGER TO GET TO SOMEWHERE THAT I COULD PHONE SINCE MY CELL PHONE WAS OUT OF RADUIS. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH ENGINE SEIZED. AS RESULT, VEHICLE STALLED IN TRAFFIC, AND HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED. DEALER STATED THAT SLUDGE BUILT UP IN THE ENGINE. *AK
OWNER WAS CHANGING TIRE AND CUT HAND ON RIM. OWNER FOUND CHROME PLATING PEELING AWAY FROM THE BACK OF ALL FOUR RIMS UPON FURTHER INSPECTION. PIECES ARE METAL CHARDS >2 INCHES WHICH ARE PEELING AWAY AROUND WELD OF SPOKE (BACKSIDE OF RIM). COULD CUT OR INJURE A PERSON OR CAUSE TIRES TO PUNCTURE IF METAL FRAGMENTS WERE TO BREAK OFF DURING TRAVEL. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER (LAFLAM CHRYSLER, RUNNEMEDE NJ) WHERE DEALER STATED THAT RIMS WERE "COSMETIC" AND NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTEES. CHRYSLER SERVICE LINE WAS CONTACTED SAME DAY (FILE#129-7146). DEALERSHIP DENIED INQUIRY ABOUT RIMS AND THEN CLAIMED THAT THEY FELT IT WAS COSMETIC ALSO. OWNER FEELS THERE IS A HUGE SAFETY RISK AND IS VERY CONCERNED AT CHANGEING TIRES AND WHAT MAY HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING. MANUFACTURER HAS STATED THAT THERE IS "NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT". THE OWNER HAS A CUT ON HIS FINGER TO PROVE THIS IS NOT COSMETIC.*AK
ON FRIDAY, APRIL 16TH I NOTICED MY BATTERY LIGHT ON IN MY CAR AS I DROVE HOME. THAT EVENING WE DROVE MY CAR TO A FRIENDS AND NOTICED THE LIGHT STAYED ON. WHEN WE GOT THERE, 3 PEOPLE LOOKED AT MY CAR AND NOTICED THAT MY ALTERNATOR WAS SMOKING AND SMELT HOT, THE WIRE THAT GOES INTO THE ALTERNATOR WAS BURNT COMPLETELY IN TWO AND WAS SEPERATED FROM THE ALTERNATOR. IT WAS THANKFULLY TOUCHING JUST ENOUGH TO KEEP MY CAR RUNNING. THE NEXT DAY, THEY TOOK MY ALTERNATOR OUT OF MY CAR AND ONE SIDE WAS COMPLETELY MELTED. WE CALLED SERVERAL PARTS STORES AND WERE TOLD BY EACH ONE THAT CHRYSLER HAS NOT RELEASED SOME OF ITS PARTS TO BE SOLD YET, AND THE ALTERNATOR WAS ONE OF THEM. LEAVING US TO ONLY GO TO A DEALER TO HAVE IT REPLACED AND PAY NUMEROUS CHARGES TO HAVE IT REPLACED WHEN WE COULD OF DONE IT OURSELF. ONE, A 3YR OLD CAR, SHOULD NOT BE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH AN ALTERNATOR YET UNLESS ITS FAULTY, TWO IT DEFINETELY SHOULDN'T BE CATCHING ON FIRE, THREE, CHRYSLER SHOULD BE LETTING PARTS STORES SELL THEIR PARTS....*AK
THE PASSENGER REAR AND FRONT FLOOR IS COMPLETELY SOAKED AFTER DRIVING IN THE RAIN. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THERE IS A LEAK IN BOTH THE FRONT AND REAR DOORS. AT THE SAME TIME, THE HEATER/AC FAN DOES NOT WORK. IT WILL ONLY BE ON WHEN THE SELECTOR IS TURNED TO 4, OTHERWISE IT IS OFF. TECHNICAN SAYS THE RESISTOR IS BLOWN.
IN AUG 2003 I HAD MY BRAKES DONE, I WAS PLANNING ON JUST CHANGING THE PADS AND TURNING THE ROTORS BUT I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WERE BELOW MIN SPECS AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. SO I REPLACED THEM NOW IN APRIL 2004 I HAD MY CAR IN FOR IT'S REGULAR OIL CHANGE AND HAD THEM DO A BRAKE INSPECTION BECAUSE MY CAR WAS SHAKING WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES. I WAS TOLD AGAIN THAT ALL 4 ROTORS WERE BELOW MIN SPEC AND HAD TO BE REPLACED AND THEY HAD DEEP GROVES IN THEM. I'M NOT A CRAZY DRIVER I HAVE NOT HAD ANY SPEEDING TICKET OR ACCIDENTS. EVER. I WAS NOT TOLD WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THESE GROVES OR WHY I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE MY ROTORS FOR THE 2ND TIME WITH A CAR THAT HAS ONLY 42K MILES ON IT. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT IS CAUSING THESE DEEP GROVES AND HOW TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE NOT HAD THEM FIXED YET AS I CAN'T AFFORD IT. *LA
ON OR ABOUT MARCH 30, 2004 MY CAR DEVELOPED A TICKING NOISE. I DISCOVERED THE NOISE WHEN ORDERING FOOD AT A DRIVE THROUGH WINDOW. THE NOISE WAS ONLY EVIDENT WHEN I HAD MY WINDOW DOWN. MY CAR ALSO HAD NO HEAT BY THIS TIME. OVER THE LAST TWO WINTERS I WOULD NOT HAVE HEAT WHEN THE CAR WAS IDLE, BUT THIS YEAR IT HAD GRADUALLY DETERIORATED TO NO HEAT WHEN IDLE OR UPON ACCELARATION. ACCORDING TO THE OWER'S MANUAL NO ANTIFREEZE WOULD CAUSE THIS PROBLEM. THE CAR WAS LOW ON OIL AND HAD NO ANTIFREEZE. I TOOK THE CAR TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND TO CHECK THE ANTIFREEZE. THE OWNER'S MANUAL STATED YOU NEEDED TO DO SOMETHING SPECIAL TO ADD ANTIFREEZE, BUT THE MANUAL FAIL TO TELL YOU WHAT THAT SOMETHING SPECIAL WAS. THE OIL WAS CHANGED AND THE ANTIFREEZE WAS FILLED. THE TICKING NOISE PERSISTED AND THEN THE RED OIL LAMP CAME ON ONE WEEK AFTER HAVING THIS SERVICE PERFORMED. I MADE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT WITH THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO SEE WHAT WAS CAUSING THE TICKING NOISE. AFTER CHECKING MY CAR OVER I RECEIVED A CALL SAYING THAT IT APPEARED I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE, THE ANITFREEZE THAT HAD BEEN PUT IN TWO WEEKS PRIOR WAS COMPLETELY GONE. MY CAR HAD NO VISIBLE SIGNS OF LEAKAGE. WHERE DID THE ANTIFREEZE GO? WHY IS MY LOW OIL LIGHT COMING ON AS WELL? IT APPEARS THAT THE 2.7L ENGINE FAILS REGARDLESS OF MAINTENANCE DUE TO DESIGN OF THE ENGINE (LIMITING PASSAGE OF OIL) AND THIS FAILURE IS ALSO LINKED TO THE ANTIFREEZE LEAKAGE OVER TIME, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO OVER HEAT AND BUILD UP SLUDGE. THE DEALER THEN TELLS YOU THAT ENGINE PROBLEM IS DUE TO SLUDGE BUILD-UP OR RATHER POOR MAINTENANCE ON YOUR PART AND VOIDS THE WARRANTY OR REFUSES ANY ASSISTANCE IN THE REPAIR EXPENSE. MY ENGINE FAILED AT APPROXIMATELY 52,000 MILES. THIS PROBLEM IS COSTING CONSUMERS THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS.*AK
WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH TRANSMISSION FAILED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH CONSUMER HEARD A SOUND COMING FROM THE REAR. CONSUMER PULLED TO THE SIDE, AND NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS LEANING TO THE LEFT. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE BALL JOINTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK *NM
I HAVE A 2001 CHRYSLER SEBRING LX SEDAN. I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS IN THE BEGINNING AS FAR AS THE DIGITAL ODOMETER SKIPPING, AND OTHER ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH IT. I HAVE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, AND HAVE HAD IT IN THERE FOR INSPECTION, BUT THEY CLAIMED THEY NEVER FOUND ANYTHING. THE DEALERSHIP ALSO NEVER TOLD ME ABOUT THE RECALLS. I NOTICED SEVERAL MONTHS AGO THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS CAUSING ME TO SPEED WITHOUT CONTROL, SO I TURNED IT OFF AND NEVER USED IT AGAIN, THINKING I WOULD TAKE IT IN WHEN I WAS ABLE, DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE DEALERSHIP FLUCTUATED BACK AND FORTH WHETHER I HAD 3-YEAR/36K BUMPER-TO-BUMPER, OR 7-YEAR/70K POWERTRAIN, ALTHOUGH IT WAS WITH MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THE SALESMAN OFFERED BOTH OF THE WARRANTIES. LAST WEEK, MY SON WAS ASKING ME ABOUT THE CRUISE CONTROL AND HE TURNED IT ON. HE EXPERIENCED THE LACK OF CONTROL WITH THE SPEED. I TOLD HIM TO TURN IT OFF AND NEVER USE IT, AND THAT I WAS GOING TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT ASAP. THE NEXT EVENING, MY SON WAS DRIVING THE CAR, AND HE EXPERIENCED LOST OF CONTROL WITH THE ACCELERATOR. IN A PANIC, HE TRIED TO PULL THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, BUT ENDED UP CRASHING INTO A GUARD RAIL. I HAVE PHOTOS TO PROVE THAT THERE WERE NO TIRE MARKS OF ANY KIND AT THE SCENE: THE POLICEMAN CLAIMED THAT THERE WERE 90FT OF TIRE MARKS, BUT THEY HAVE NO PROOF, AND THERE WERE PARENTS AT THE SCENE AT THAT MOMENT WHO ARE WILLING TO TESTIFY THAT THERE WERE NO MARKS AT ALL. THIS PROVES TO ME THAT THERE WAS FAILURE WITH THE ACCELERATION AND/OR BRAKES. THIS MORNING, I READ IN THE PAPER THAT THERE WAS ANOTHER SEBRING INVOLVED IN A CRASH IN THE MIDDLE OF A ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARADE, THE CAUSE WAS DUE TO A FAULTY ACCELERATION SYSTEM. *JB
WHILE DRIVING AND WITHOUT WARNING TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKED, MAKING IT HARD FOR CONSUMER TO SHIFT THE GEARS. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK *NM
THE DESIGN OF THE CENTER HUB CAP ON THE 2001 SEBRING WITH THE CHROME WHEELS IS DEFECIENT. I HAVE REPLACED 4 WHEEL HUB CAPS IN 51,000 MILES OF DRIVING DUE TO IT DEPARTING THE CAR WHILE IN MOTION.*AK

THE ENGINE ON MY CHRYSLER SEBRING (2.7) QUIT DUE TO EXCESS SLUDGE FROM A DEFECTIVE DESIGN. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND WAS TOLD THAT MY VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THAT THEY WOULD NOT REIMBURSE ME ANY COSTS. I HAD REGULAR OIL CHANGES AND MAINTENANCE ON MY VEHICLE. THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THEY HAVE TO REPAIR 6 OR 7 CARS A YEAR DUE TO ENGINE FAILURE. I HAD THE ENGINE REBUILT AT A COST OF NEARLY $2,500. IF THE DEALERSHIP HAD PERFORMED THE WORK IT WOULD HAVE COST NEARLY $7,000 AND THEY WOULD HAVE PUT A NEW, BUT THE SAME DEFECTIVE ENGINE IN MY CAR. A JASPER ENGINE EMPLOYEE DOCUMENTED THAT CHRYSLER HAS NEVER DONE THE UPDATES THAT WOULD HAVE PREVENTED THE PROBLEM. *AK
ON DECEMBER 13, 2003 I WAS INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT WHERE DAMAGE WAS SUSTANINED TO THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. SINCE THE ACCCIDENT THE RADIO HAS NOT WORKED. THE INSURANCE COMPANY DID NOT FIND THAT THE PROBLEM WITH THE RADIO WAS AS A RESULT OF THE ACCIDENT. THE CAR DEALER INDICATED THAT THERE MAY HAVE BEEN A DEFECT WITH THE RADIO. THE RADIO HAS NOT BEEN REPLACED OR FIXED.*AK
2001 SEBRING. DRIVER SEAT BELT BROKE LAST DEC, 2002. HAD IT REPLACED 1/3/2003. WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. 12/9/2003, DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT BROKEN FOR 2ND TIME. CAR NOT UNDER WARRANTY (3 YRS 30,000 MILE WARRANTY)DEALER WANTS ME TO PAY FOR IT. HAVE BEEN BUYING NEW CARS FOR OVER 30 YEARS, NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH A SEATBELT BEFORE. HAVE BEEN BUYING NEW CHRYSLER VEHICLES, EVERY 3-4 YEARS FROM SAME DEALER, NEVER HAD SEAT BELT PROBLEM. I FEEL THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT. WE HAD A WRECK WHERE WE HIT THE BACK OF A FORD 150 TRUCK. WE WERE GOING ABOUT 35 MILES /HR AND THE AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY AND THE REAR SEATS BELTS DIDN'T LOCK, SO THAT MY KIDS HEADS HIT THE BACKS OF THE FRONT SEATS. *AK
WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH BRAKE PEDAL FELL APART, CAUSING VEHICLE TO HIT A TEMPORARY CONCRETE WALL IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE. UPON IMPACT, FRONT AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DRIVER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES TO THE HEAD AND ARMS.*AK THE RUBBER GRIP ON THE BRAKES POPPED OFF WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED. CONSUMER NOTED THE AIR BAGS WERE A DESIGN FLAW SINCE THEY DIDN'T DEPLOY EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE TWO SENSORS. VEHICLE HAS BEEN REPAIRED. (FATHER ON BEHALF ON SON). *PH
AIRBAG/CLOCKSPRING FAILURE. WAS IN FRONT END CRASH AT 25-30MPH AND AIRBAGS DID NOT GO OFF. THIS WAS ON 06-26-04 GOT THE CAR FIX AT EARNHARDT AUTO BODY A FIVE STAR DEALER. ON 10-09-04 THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. SO I TOOK IT BACK THEY SAID THEY WOULD CALL MY INSURANCE TO SEE IF THEY WOULD COVER THE WORK. THEY WOULD IF IT WAS FROM THE CRASH. THE COMPUTER SHOWED NO ERROR CODE SO I HAD TO PAY. BODY SHOP SAID THEY CAN'T FIX I WOULD HAVE TO TAKE TO SERVICE.BUT THE TECH AT BODY SAID IT WAS A BAD CLOCKSPRING. SO ON 10-11-04 I TOOK TO SERVICE AND THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD HAVE TO DO A DIAGNOSTIC WHICH I HAD JUST PAID FOR AT THERE BODY SHOP. I TOLD THEM THIS BUT THIS DID'NT MATTER.BUT I NEED MY CAR GETTING TO WORK. SO I LET THEM KEEP IT FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. A FEW HOURS LATER THEY CALLED AND SAID IT WAS A BAD CLOCKSPRING AND IT WOULD COST ABOUT $481.00. BECAUSE MY WARRANTY WAS UP IN TIME NOT MILES. WAS UP BY ABOT A MONTH AND WEEK OR TWO. I ASK THEM IF THIS WAS A SAFETY CONCERN AND THEY NO. CALL FOR MORE INFO ON THIS STORY.*AK
ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO OIL STARVATION. OIL WAS CHANGED REGULARLY IN THE CAR, BUT DEALER FOULD EXCESSIVE OIL SLUDGING IN ENGINE. THE 2.7L V6 ENGINE HAD 43,000 MILES ON IT. SEARCH FOR INFORMATION ON 2.7L V6 ENGINE INDICATED THAT THIS IS A COMMON OCCURANCE DUE TO WHAT SEVERAL ENGINE EXPERTS HAVE STATED IS DUE TO INTERNAL OIL PASSAGES THAT ARE TOO NARROW FOR ENGINE OIL TO PROPERLY CIRCULATE CAUSING THE OIL TO "COOK" INSIDE THE ENGINE. RECEIVED REPORTS OF THIS OCCURRING AS EARLY AS 35,000 MILES WITH THE AVERAGE FAILURE AT 50,000 MILES. CHRYSLER FAILED TO RESPOND TO PROBLEM AND DENIED 8/80 WARRANTY COVERAGE FOR THE ENGINE REPAIRS.
I AM HAVING ISSUE WITH MY TRANSMISSION, (THE ELECTRONIC AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION) PART WHICH I HAD AN ESTIMATE OF CLOSE TO $2000 TO BE REPAIRED.

IDENTIFIED RECALL NOTICE FROM NHTSA, 00V29902. AFTER CONTACTING CHRYSLER SEVERAL TIMES, THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY INFORMATION ON THE RECALL NOR ACKNOLEDGE ANY RECALLS FOR MY VEHICLE.*AK

THE INSIDE DOOR HANDLE, WHERE THE CHROME MATERIALS SEPARATED, CAUSE CUTS ON THE CONSUMERS FINGER EVERY TIME THE DOOR WAS OPENED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND NOTIFIED THE CONSUMER THAT THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED. *NLM

RECENTLY, APRIL 15-18,2003, IT STARTED CUTTING OFF. NOT UNDER WARRANTY I BOUGHT A NEW BATTERY AND THEN HAD TO BY A NEW AUTO COMPUTER SYSTEM. I WANT HAYNES JEEP CHRYSLER AND PLYMOUYH TO REFUND ME ALL OF MY MONEY AND TAKE THE CAR BACK. MY MOTHER AND I ARE HANDICAPPED, SHE HAS LUPUS AND I JUST HAD MAJOR SURGERY AS A KIDNEY DONOR TO MY UNCLE. OUR 2001 CHRYSLER SEBRING HAS SOME TRANSMISSION COOLING LINES THAT ARE "DETERIORATED", FIRST DISCOVERED WITH 36,184 MILES. *NLM
BOTH FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS HAD TO BE REPLACED ON MY CHRYSLER SEBRING AT AROUND 25,000 MILES. THE DEALER SAID HE'S CHANGED AT LEAST 4 OTHER SEBRING'S FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS. I THINK CHRYSLER SHOULD ORDER A RECALL TO PREVENT A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.*JB
ENGINE QUIT AT 34,000 MI , TOOK TO DEALER THEY STATED THERE WAS SLUDGE IN THE ENGINE AND THAT THE CAR WAS NEGLECTED DO TO LACK OF OIL CHANGES "VOIDING WARRANTY". THERE APPERS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE 2.7 LITER ENGINE. *AK OIL CHANGES WERE PERFORMED AT REGULAR INTERVALS BETWEEN 3K-5K MILES.
THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM AS STATED IN RECALL #01V011000, HOWEVER THE VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL.*JB
FRONT END SUSPENSION, WHEEL BEARING & STEERING - GRINDING NOISE WHEN GOING OVER SMALL HOLES OR HILLS SUCH AS SPEED BUMPS & POT HOLES. ALMOST NEVER WHEN DRIVING DIRECTLY FORWARD, BUT OFTEN WHEN TURNING. DEALER MADE 4 (FOUR) REPAIR ATTEMPTS AND STILL HAS NOT GOTTEN IT RIGHT. NOT 2 MONTHS AFTER LAST REPAIR, WHICH TOOK SIX WEEKS TO GET ALL THE PARTS TOGETHER (DURING WHICH THE LEMON LAW COVERAGE FOR MY CAR EXPIRED - GO WONDER ABOUT THAT..) THE NOISES HAVE RETURNED AGAIN. OTHER ISSUES, I HAVE SEEN 6 TOTAL ISSUES MENTIONED IN THIS SITE THAT I CAN IDENTIFY WITH. AS FOR THOSE SUDDEN ACCELERATIONS SOME HAVE MENTIONED, YES I AGREE THE PEDALS ARE TOO CLOSE WHICH MAKES IT EASY TO MASH BOTH BRAKE & GAS PEDALS. *JB
THE CONSUMER HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE TIRES LOOSING AIR ON A CONTINUOUS BASIS. THE TIRES HAVE BEEN INSPECTED SEVERAL TIMES. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THIS WAS DUE TO THE TIRES SEAL. *JB.......*AK
THIS FAILURE OF THE WHEEL HUB CAP IS THE THIRD TIME THAT THIS ITEM HAS FAILED AND DEPARTED THE VEHICLE WHILE IT WAS IN MOTION. THE DESIGN OF THE WHEEL HUB ON THE CHROME OPTIONAL WHEELS IS EXTREMELY POOR AS THESE HUBS DO NOT STAY IN PLACE. EACH TIME I HAVE HAD TO PURCHASE A NEW HUB AT $58. THESE CENTER HUBS SHOULD BE REDESIGNED AND REPLACED ON ALL VEHICLES. DT
