TL* - THE CONTACT HAS A 2000 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY AND STATED THAT THE PLASTIC HEADLIGHT COVER TURNED GRAY AND CLOUDY. THIS INTERFERED WITH THE AMOUNT OF ILLUMINATION IT DISPLAYED. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THEY HAVE HAD NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE SAME PROBLEM, BUT UNFORTUNATELY THEY COULD NOT COVER THE REPAIR COST UNTIL THE MANUFACTURER SET UP A RECALL. *AK UPDATED 1/26/2007 - *NM
EXTERIOR HANDLE ON REAR SLIDING DOOS BREAK EASILY. MY DAUGHTER IN LAW PULED ONE SIDE TO OEN AND IT BROE OFF. MY 5 YEAR OLD GRANDSON PULED ON THE HANDLE ON THE OTHER SIDE LATER AND IT TO PROKE OF. THE COST OF THE NEW HANDLE IS 166.00. I APPEARS THE THE QUALITY OF MATERIAL IS OF A POOR QUAILTY AND THE PRICE FOR A NEW ONE IS OUTRAGEOUS.
WE HAVE HAD NUMEROUS OCCASIONS OF THE SEAT BELTS COMING UNLATCHED FOR NO APPARENT REASON, OR SEEMING TO BE LATCHED CORRECTLY AND THEN FINDING OUT MILES LATER THAT IT POPS OUT AND MAYBE WASN'T LATCHED CORRECTLY IN THE FIRST PLACE. I HAVE 4 CHILDREN, RANGING IN AGE 2-11, AND WE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH ALL OF THE SEATS. I HAVE ALSO READ ONLINE WHILE INVESTIGATING THIS ISSUE, THAT THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT AND THAT DEATH HAS OCCURRED DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL OF THESE SEAT BELTS WHEN THEY ARE CLEARLY DEFECTIVE? I AM REQUESTING THAT YOU, DAIMLER CHRYSLER, REPLACE ALL OF THE SEAT BELTS IN THE CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY OWNED BY US, LISTED ABOVE, FREE OF CHARGE, TO SHOW YOUR GOOD WILL IN THIS SITUATION. IT WOULD BE DISASTROUS FOR THIS ISSUE OF THE SEAT BELT UNLATCHING ITSELF IN A WRECK TO HAPPEN AGAIN AND LEAVE US WITH AN INJURED OR DEAD CHILD OR ADULT. THE SERPENTINE BELT ON MY 2000 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY VAN POPS OFF CAUSING LOSS OF POWER STEERING, ALTERNATOR AND WATER PUMP. VERY DANGEROUS TO HAVE TO SAFELY DRIVE TO A STOP WITHOUT POWER STEERING. BELT HAS BEEN REPLACED. TENSIONER HAS BEEN REPLACED. PULLEYS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. DEALERS AND PRIVATE SHOPS HAVE NO CLUE WHAT IS WRONG, BUT OWNERS DO- THE TENSIONER GETS OUT OF ALIGNMENT! GOODYEAR AND GATES HAVE BEGUN TO MARKET KITS TO FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD DO A RECALL. JUST "GOOGLE" TO SEE HOW MANY OWNERS ARE AFFECTED. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE! DT*: THE CONTACT STATED AFTER A LONG TRIP THE DRIVER HAD A HEADACHE. UPON INSPECTING UNDER THE HOOD, THE CONTACT NOTICED THE PIPE THAT RAN FROM THE CYLINDER HEAD TO THE EXHAUST WAS LEAKING. THE DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED THE PIPE WAS LEAKING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE DRIVER SIDE STRUT TOWER WAS RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS WHERE THE TOWER WAS CLEANED AND A PROTECTIVE COATING WAS APPLIED. THE RUST CONTINUED TO FORM AND HOLES WERE NOW PRESENT. *AK UPDATED 9/22/2006 - *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING 5 MPH, THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE STRIKING ANOTHER VEHICLE. UPON INSPECTION, THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT TIRE WAS OBSERVED TO BE LEANING INWARD. THERE WAS A POLICE REPORT FILED AT THE SCENE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC THAT DETERMINED THE SPINDLE ASSEMBLY FRACTURED, AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED.
COMPLAINT INVOLVES A 2000 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY LTD AWD MINVAN 3.8L ENGINE. DURING ITS ANNUAL SAFETY INSPECTION, MY MECHANIC DISCOVERED THE FLYWHEEL WAS CRACKED. I HAD BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN TO A) HAVE IT INSPECTED B) CHECK A METALLIC NOISE THE ENGINE HAD WHEN THE A/C WAS ON. VEHICLE PASSED THE SAFETY INSPECTION, HOWEVER HE INFORMED ME THE FLYWHEEL WAS CRACKED AND SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN UNTIL FIXED. IT WAS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT IF IT FAILED COMPLETELY IT COULD CAUSE AN EXPLOSION WITH THE TRANSMISSION CASE BEING BLOWN APART - NOT A GOOD THING WHEN THIS VEHICLE IS USED PRIMARILY BY MY WIFE WITH OUR CHILDREN AS THE MAIN CARGO. I HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED WHICH COST APPROXIAMATELY $560. *JB
CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY THAT CAUGHT FIRE BECAUSE OF THE AIR BAGS**NAR**CC THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING, HE NOTICED THE AIR BAG LIGHT HAD ILLUMINATED AND SOON AFTER ARRIVING HOME, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. *JB
I TOOK MY 2000 CHRYSLER MINI VAN TO THE CONYER, GA DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT WHY MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND MY HORN STOPPED WORKING AND I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MAN THAT I WOULD BE CHARGE $89.00 JUST FOR THEM TO LOOK AT THE PROBLEM. I JUST RECENTLY FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH ALL MINI VANS DATING BACK SEVERAL YEARS AGO. I WAS ALMOST HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE BECAUSE MY HORN IN MY VAN WASN'T WORKING. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD ISSUE A IMMEDIATE RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILL. *JB
1) NORMAL USE OF THE VEHICLE LED TO 2) THE DRIVER'S SIDE STRUT TOWER RUSTING AND SEPARATING UNDER THE HOOD, CAUSING A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS LOSS OF CONTROL WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE 3) I NOTICED THE RUSTING AND SEPARATION AND I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP TO REPAIR WITH A "STRUT TOWER REPAIR KIT". THIS IS A VERY COMMON DEFECT IN CHRYSLER/DODGE MINIVANS FROM 1996-2000 AND THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN #23-044-02 ABOUT THE CONDITION AND REPAIR. IF LEFT UNDIAGNOSED AND UN-REPAIRED, THIS COULD CAUSE A VEHICLE OWNER TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. DUE TO THE # OF INCIDENTS & REPAIRS, THIS SEEMS TO BE A PRODUCT DESIGN DEFECT. CHRYSLER HAS REFUSED TO PAY FOR OR REIMBURSE FOR THE REPAIR.*JB
TL* - THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE PURCHASE A 2000 CHRYSLER LH MARCH IN 2006. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A SPLIT IN THE DASH BOARD OVER THE AIRBAG DOOR ON PASSENGER SIDE. THE CONTACT TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO OWNER OF DEALERSHIP ONE MONTH LATER BECAUSE THE REPAIR ON DASH BOARD SPLIT OPEN. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY WOULD ONLY REPAIR AND NOT REPLACE THE DASH BOARD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON 11/30/06 HIS VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND ANOTHER VEHICLE HIT HIS VEHICLE ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE. CONTACT HAD HIS INSURANCE ADJUSTER LOOK AT VEHICLE AND WAS TOLD BY THE ADJUSTER THAT THE DASH BOARD IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE ADJUSTER TOLD THE CONTACT THAT THE DASHBOARD COULD NOT BE PATCH OVER THE AIRBAG DOORS. THE CONTACT SAID THAT INSURANCE THE ADJUSTER SAID THAT PIECES OF PAINT AND PUTTING COULD COME OFF INTO PASSENGERS FACE AND EYES.
I AM EXPERIENCING CORROSION PENETRATION OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE STRUT TOWER ON MY 2000 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY LIMITED MINIVAN. THE BODY OF THE VAN INCLUDING THE PASSENGER SIDE STRUT TOWER IS ABSENT OF ANY CORROSION. I JUST BECAME AWARE OF A SERVICE BULLETIN CHRYSLER ISSUED ON OCTOBER 14, 2002 FOR CORRECTING THIS PROBLEM (BULLETIN # 23-044-02). IT SEEMS APPARENT TO ME THAT CHRYSLER HAS BEEN AWARE OF THIS ISSUE FOR SOME TIME AND SHOULD HAVE AS A MINIMUM ALERTED OWNERS TO THIS POTENTIAL PROBLEM BEFORE IT MAGNIFIED ITSELF. I BELIEVE CHRYSLER NOW SHOULD INCUR THE COST FOR REPAIR OF THIS OBVIOUS DEFECT.*JB
WE OWN A 2000 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY LIMITED MINIVAN. THE MIDDLE ROW OF SEATS ARE REMOVABLE. FROM TIME TO TIME, WE REMOVE AND REINSTALL THE SEATS PER THE DIRECTIONS IN THE MANUAL. AFTER EACH TIME WE REINSTALL THE SEAT, WE ENSURE THAT THE SEAT IS SECURE BY MAKING SURE IT CAN'T DISENGAGE. DESPITE THIS, THE MIDDLE SEATS PERIODICALLY DISENGAGES SPONTANEOUSLY, POPS OUT, AND TIPS FORWARD OR BACKWARD WITH OUR CHILD IN IT. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, WE STOP THE CAR, PULL OVER, AND PUT THE KID IN A DIFFERENT SEAT. THEN WE REINSTALL THE SEAT WHEN WE ARE AT SAFER SPOT. WE TEST AGAIN TO MAKE SURE THE INSTALLATION IS SECURE AND CONTINUE DRIVING. THEN, A FEW WEEKS OR MONTHS LATER, THE SEAT POPS OUT AGAIN. THE MOST RECENT SUCH INCIDENT IS DATED BELOW. *JB
SUDDEN LOSS OF TRANSMISSION FLUID RESULTED IN ENGINE LIGHT WARNING. INTERNET SEARCHES ON THIS VEHICLE PROVIDED SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THIS 2000 TOWN & COUNTRY VAN. IT HAS 56,000 MILES. ALSO REPORTED LEAK OF BRAKE FLUID AND DEALER SUGGESTED REPLACEMENT OF FAULTY BRAKE FLUID DRUMS (POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE). INFORMED CHRYSLER REGARDING THIS MATTER BUT THEY REFUSED WARRANTY COVERAGE, RESULTING IN EXPENSIVE REPAIR WORK OVER $600 FOR TRANSMISSION FLUID AND BRAKE PAD REPAIR WORK. ALSO, DRIVER'S SIDE AUTOMATIC WINDOW MOTOR STOPPED FUNCTIONING AND REPLACEMENT WAS NECESSARY $325. DEALER REPORTED FREQUENT PROBLEMS WITH MOTOR. DEALER INFORMED 9 OUT OF 10 TIMES ISSUE RELATED TO REPLACEMENT OF MOTOR SO GLASS CAN FUNCTION CORRECTLY. REQUIRED TO FUNCTION TO PASS DE SAFETY INSPECTION. WHEN ATTEMPTED TO CHANGE FLAT TIRE, THE HYDRAULIC GAUGE DID NOT HOLD THE WEIGHT OF THE VEHICLE AND BUCKLED. FAULTY AND DANGEROUS HYDRAULIC TIRE REPLACEMENT EQUIPMENT AND CAN CAUSE VERY SERIOUS INJURY. *NM
2000 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY THE STRUT TOWER ON THE DRIVERS SIDE HAS SEVERE RUSTING AND I BELIEVE THAT IF THE STRUT TOWER FAILS, THE VEHICLE WILL BECOME UNSAFE. *NM
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE SHOCK TOWER IS CORRODING, WHICH CAN CAUSE THE THREE BOLTS TO RUST AND BECOME A SAFETY ISSUE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT YET BEEN TO THE DEALER. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 92,750 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.

TRANSMISSION FAILURE OF 2000 TOWN AND COUNTRY CHRYSLER VAN. VAN BROUGHT TO DEALER FOR REPAIR OF SLIPPING TRANSMISSION 2002 REPLACED TRANSMISSION PUMP HOSE GASKET AND FILTER AND INFORMED NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CONTINUE TO SLIP IN FREEZING TEMPERATURE UNTIL CAR WARMED UP. NO TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS IN WARM WEATHER. PROBLEM COMMUNED UNTIL ESCALATED WINTER 05 UNABLE TO DRIVE CAR SAFELY AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ENGAGED. CAR BROUGHT TO TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST WHO REPORTED TRANSMISSION APPEARS NOT TO HAVE BEEN CORRECTLY ASSEMBLED. CHRYSLER DEALER NOTIFIED STATES THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE. *JB
2000 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY HORN AND AIR BAG DOES NOT WORK. *TS ***NO ANSWER REQUIRED*** THE CONSUMER HAD THE CLOCKSPRING REPAIR PRIOR TO RECEIVING RECALL NOTICE 04V480000. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED REIMBURSEMENT FROM THE MANUFACTURER. *NM
DT: THE CONTACT STATED THAT THREE OF FOUR TIRES WERE LEAKING AIR. THIS AIR LEAKAGE WAS DUE TO DEFECTIVE WHEELS. THERE WERE PITS WHERE BEADS SET IN THE WHEEL OF THE VEHICLE. THE TIRE DEALER TIRE ADDED SEALANT TO THE BEAD, AND THIS DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE TIRE DEALER RECOMMENDED THAT THE WHEELS BE REPLACED. ONE OF TIRES EXPERIENCED EXTREME OVERNIGHT LEAKAGE. THE OTHER TWO TIRES ONLY LEAKED SLOWLY. THE WHEELS HAVE NOT BEEN REPLACED AT THIS TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT COVER THE WHEELS UNDER PERSONALIZED SERVICE CONTRACT WARRANTY. THE WHEELS WERE CHROME PLATED ALUMINUM AND CORROSION CAUSED THESE PITS. *AK UPDATED 12/7/2005. *NM
WHILE NEGOTIATING A CURVE, I LOST ALL CONTROL OF STEERING. MY VAN WENT INTO A DITCH. THE TIE ROD END JUST CAME OUT. THERE IS NO RUST, NO DAMAGE, ETC. IT JUST CAME UNDONE. I HAD TO BUY A NEW ONE AND HAVE IT REPLACED. THE AUTO PARTS DEALER HAS NEVER SEEN ONE THAT JUST CAME APART. *NM
AT 69800 MILES THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SHUDDER BETWEEN 35 AND 45 MPH. AT FIRST THIS HAPPENED FAIRLY INFREQUENTLY. IT KEPT HAPPENING MORE AND MORE OFTEN. NOW AT 74500 MILES IT OCCURS EVERY TIME WE USE THE VAN. *JB
EVENT LEADING TO FAILURE: NONE -(LOW BATTERY) APPARENTLY CAUSES FAILURE (WEAR/TEAR ITEM) MEANING THIS IS GUARANTEED TO HAPPEN EVERY 4-5 YEARS! FAILURE: SUDDEN FAILURE OF THE TACHOMETER AND SPEEDOMETER GUAGES - AFTER WORK WAS PERFORMED DEALER CLAIMED THE PCM MODULE SHUT OFF (DO NOT KNOW WHAT THIS IS) WHICH APPARENTLY CONTROLS THESE ITEMS. CORRECTION: BATTERY REPLACED DUE TO LOW BATTERY - APPARENTLY I WAS TOLD THAT, BY DESIGN, THE PCM MODULE WILL SHUT OFF ON A LOW CURRENT CONDITION FROM THE BATTERY BUT STILL ALLOW THE MOTOR VEHICLE TO OPERATE. THIS PLACES THE VEHICLE IN A CONDITION THAT IT IS ILLEGAL TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITH AN INOPERABLE SPEEDOMETER. IN ADDITION, SINCE THE MODULE IS 'SHUTOFF', NO BATTERY WARNING OR CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATORS FUNCTION TO NOTIFY YOU OF A PROBLEM. THIS WAS INCORRECTLY REPLACED 6 MONTHS EARLIER (JAN 2005) WITH A NEW SPEEDOMETER CONTROL.
ON JULY 11, 2005 THE NEWBURYPORT FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED TO PUT OUT AN ENGINE FIRE IN MY 2000 CHRYSLER CIRRUS. AN INSURANCE ADJUSTER FROM RAND ADJUSTMENTS CAME OUT TO SEE THE CAR AT VOLPONE TOWING ALSO IN NEWBURYPORT MASS. THE ADJUSTER DETERMINED THAT THE CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS. I AM NOW WITHOUT ANY TRANSPORTATION.
(1) I OWN A 2000 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY (WITH LESS THAN 70,000 MILES) WHICH I PURCHASED ONLY FIVE MONTHS AGO. WHILE ON VACATION FAR FROM HOME, THE TRANSMISSION STARTED WHINING LOUDLY AND SHIFTING ROUGHLY. (2) I HAD THE VEHICLE CHECKED BY TWO DIFFERENT MECHANICS WHO BOTH INFORMED ME THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS FAILING. (3) THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED COMPLETELY AT A COST TO ME OF APPROXIMATELY $2800.
2000 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY LXI ALL WHEEL DRIVE: 01/2003 FAILURE AT THE BATTERY, WILL NOT TAKE A CHARGE (BATTERY REPLACED) 06/2005 BATTERY LEAKING ACID AND DAMAGED WIRE HARNESS THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR REPLACED $260.00 THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR REPLACED **AGAIN** $72.00 NEW BATTERY $71.00 SENSOR MAP $80.00 WIRING ENGINE $837.00 LABOR $504.00 A REOCCURRING PROBLEM WITH MOPAR BATTERIES HAS COST ME $2000.00 2 LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIPS HAVE BEEN UNABLE OR UNWILLING TO CONTACT THE LOCAL CHRYSLER REPRESENTATIVE AND CHRYSLER THEMSELVES DIRECTED ME BACK TO LOCAL DEALERSHIPS. NO SATISFACTION WITH THIS COMPANY OR MOPAR PRODUCTS. *JB
ON JUNE 9, 2005 I LEFT A RESTAURANT AFTER LUNCH. I DROVE APPROXIMATELY 1 MINUTE AT 30-35 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE STARTED RUNNING ROUGHLY AND LOSING POWER. SINCE I WAS ON A SURFACE STREET AND GOING SLOWLY I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OVER INTO A GAS STATION AND TURN THE CAR OFF. IT TOOK APPROXIMATELY 30-45 SECONDS TO DRIVE THE CAR THE 300-400 YARDS TO THE GAS STATION. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MY MECHANIC WHO ADVISED ME THAT THERE WAS A HOLE IN THE MIDDLE DRIVER'S SIDE PISTON AND THAT IT APPEARED TO BE CAUSED BY A PART OF THE VALVE SEAT FALLING OFF AND BECOMING LOOSE WITHIN THE PISTON/CYLINDER. THIS CAUSED A HOLE IN THE PISTON WHICH POLLUTED THE OIL WHICH DESTROYED THE ENGINE/MANAFOLD, ETC. THE SUDDEN LOSS OF ENGINE POWER COULD HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY SERIOUS AT FREEWAY SPEEDS OR EVEN ON SURFACE STREETS. I WAS LUCKY THAT THERE WAS VERY LIGHT TRAFFIC. THE CAR IS AT LA BREA CHRYSLER (323) 933-5501. DAIMLER/CHRYSLER HAS BEEN CONTACTED AND THE RESPONSE WAS THAT IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY COULD DO. I WILL REQUEST THAT THE OLD PARTS BE KEPT SO THAT THEY ARE AVAILABLE.
WATER CONDENSATION FROM AIR CONDITION LEAKS INSIDE THE VEHICLE AT THE DRIVER'S FEET . I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE ( CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY MINIVAN) IN APRIL 2000, AND THE LEAK STARTED IN 2002. THE DEALER ATTEMPTED FOUR TIMES TO FIX IT SINCE 2002. NOW THE VAN IS OUT OF WARANTY, AND THE DEALER THINKS THAT THE A/C EVAPORATOR IS AT FAULT AND THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME TO FIXT. APRIL 10, 2005 I WAS DRIVE MY CAR WITH MY DAUGHTER AND GIRL FRIEND IN THE CAR AND WE START TO SMELL SOME SMOKE FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR. WHERE MY DAUGHTER WAS AT . THE CAR STARTED TO CATCH ON FIRE. WHEN ME AND MY GIRLFRIEND GOT OUT OF THE CAR THE FLAMES FLEW PASS MY DAUGHTER EAR. SO I RUSH TO GET HER OUT OF THE BACK SET. SHE WAS NOT HE HEART. BUT I WAS VERY UPSET ABOUT A CAR THAT JUST CATCHES ON FIRE FOR NO REASON . MY INSURE ADJUSTER SAID IT WAS CAUSE BY MY REAR PASSENGER SEAT BELT. THINK THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT MATTER . I HAVE A 2000 CHRYSLER 300M. AT 15MPH, THE DOORS LOCK AUTOMATICALLY. THAT IS NORMAL. HOWEVER, LAST MONTH, THE LOCKS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE LOCK AND CANNOT BE OPENED BY THE PASSENGER. IF THE DRIVER WERE INJURED IN AN ACCIDENT, THERE WOULD BE NO WAY FOR THE PASSENGER TO GET OUT OF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE CAR.
WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH THE FAN BELT SLIPS OFF ONLY WHEN RAINING. AS A RESULT, VEHICLE OVERHEATS VERY QUICKLY ,STEERING AND BRAKES MALFUNCTION. *AK STILL WAITING ON A PART, DEALING WITH DEALER.
THE AIR BAG LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD AND REMAINED ON. THE DRIVER NOTICED WHILE PRESSING THE HORN IT HAD NO SOUND. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE DRIVER THAT THE CLOCK SPRING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB

THE SECOND ROW PASSENGER SIDE SEAT HAS A BOX UNDER IT THAT GETS HOT WHEN TURNING THE REAR HEATER ON. CONSUMER HAS A CHILD THAT SITS IN THAT SEAT, AND THE SEAT OVERHEATS. THIS WAS DISCOVERED WHEN THE CHILD DROPPED AN ARTICLE AND THE CONSUMER REACHED TO PICK IT UP .*AK

I HAVE A 2000 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY MINIVAN. I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT ALL VEHICLES MUST BE MADE SO THAT A CAR CAN NOT BE PUT IN GEAR WITHOUT PRESSING ON THE BRAKE. CURRENTLY, IF MY VEHICLE IS IN PARK I CAN JUST PULL DOWN ON THE GEAR SHIFT AND IT WILL GO INTO GEAR, WITHOUT PRESSING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. I WAS SURPRISED AS OUR 1996 JEEP HAD BEEN RECALLED SO THEY COULD FIX THIS PROBLEM. I AM CONCERNED BECAUSE MY 3 YR OLD SON PUT MY CAR INTO NEUTRAL AND IT STARTED ROLLING FORWARD AND WAS STOPPED BY A PARKED CAR. WE ONLY MOVED 2 FT IN A PARKING LOT, BUT IT COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE HAD WE BEEN ON A HILL OR SOMETHING. *JB

I ASKED MY DEALER ABOUT ANY SAFETY RECALLS OR MODIFICATIONS, THEY SAID NO. I HAVE SEEN THE CHRYSLER SERVICE LETTER AND ASKED MY DEALER ABOUT IT AND THEY SAID THAT THE WORK SHOULD BE DONE WHEN WORKING IN THAT AREA UNDER WARRANTY TO IN STALL THE CHRYSLER UPDATE KIT. I HAD MY STRUTS REPLACED BACK IN 11/2004 AND ASKED ABOUT THE RUST AND LOSS OF METAL THEN AND THEY SAID IT WOULD NOT BE WARRANTY. I HAVE ALSO BEEN TOLD BY A FORMER SERVICE ADVISOR AT THAT DEALER THAT THEY HAVE PERFORMED THIS WORK UNDER WARRANTY OR POLICY. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN, THE MINI VAN IS A FAMILY VEHICLE WHICH MY WIFE AND KIDS RIDE IN DAILY. I AM ONE PERSON AND I NEED HELP WITH THE LARGE CARMAKER PLEASE.
