BRAKES HAVE HAD TO BE REPLACED TWICE. THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON, INFORMING THE CONSUMER THA BRAKES WERE NEEDED.. THE SERVICE WAS DONE BY A LOCAL MIDAS BOTH TIMES SINCE THE DEALER STATED THE BRAKES WERE OUT OF WARRANTY.*AK
THE STRUT TOWERS ARE RUSTING . *AK
WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT A BODY SHOP, THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE FRONT STRUT AND THE STRUT TOWER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. *NM
THE CLOCK SPRING LOST THE CONNECTION TO THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. AS A RESULT, HORN, AIR BAGS, AND CRUISE CONTROL BECOME INOPERABLE.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AND TURNING ON THE SEAT WARMER WITHIN FIFTEEN SECONDS CONSUMER'S SKIN BURNED. IT DIDN'T MATTER IF IT WAS ON HIGH OR LOW. CONSUMER WAS CONCERNED WITH ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS OR A POSSIBLE FIRE. *AK
THE EXHAUST PIPE WAS DEFECTIVE, AND DEALER WAS UNABLE TO OBTAIN THE PART. MANUFACTURER STATED IT WILL BE IN AROUND THE END OF DECEMBER. *AK *NM
VEHICLE SLIPPED OUT OF THE PARK AND ROLLED DOWN A HILL HITTING A TREE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
THE CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS STRUCK FROM THE SIDE AS WELL AS THE FRONT. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *JB
DEALERSHIP WILL NOT REPAIR RECALL 04V480000 CONCERNING CLOCK SPRING UNLESS THE PART FAILED. THE PROBLEM WAS NOT RESOLVED. THE AIR BAG SENSOR LIGHT STAYS ON. CONSUMER IS CONCERNED THAT THE AIR BAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY UPON IMPACT. A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR THE CLOCK SPRING. HOWEVER, THE YEAR WAS NOT INCLUDED. *AK
AFTER SEVERAL MONTHS OF PROBLEMS WITH MY POWER SEAT MEMORY SYSTEM(MY SEATS WOULD SWITCH TO A SETTING THAT WAS NOT PROGRAMMED BY MYSELF), I CONTACTED MY DEALER AND ADVISED THEM OF MY SITUATION. THIS UNWANTED ADJUSTMENT COULD BE REPLICATED BY PRESSING THE UNLOCK BUTTON ON MY FOB. I BEGAN UNLOCKING MY VAN WITH MY KEY. I ADVISED MY DEALER AGAIN. THIS PAST JUNE, WHILE OPERATING MY VAN ONTO A FREEWAY, THE SEAT BEGAN TO CHANGE POSITIONS AND THE MIRRORS READJUSTED. MY CHILDREN AND A FAMILY FRIEND OBSERVED THIS ACTION AS IT OCCURRED. I GRABBED HOLD OF THE WHEEL AND READJUSTED ALL OF THE ABOVE MENTIONED ITEMS WHILE STILL MAINTAINING CONTROL. THIS PROCESS HAS RECURRED ON AT LEAST FIVE OCCASIONS. UPON RETURN FROM OUR VACATION, I NOTIFIED THE DEALER AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT. AFTER SEVERAL HOURS AT THE DEALERSHIP, THEY STATED THAT MY OPTIONS WERE TO DISCONNECT THE AUTO-SETTING OR RETURN THE VEHICLE WHEN A PARTICULAR COMPUTER WAS RETURNED TO THEM. MY VISIT COST ME SEVERAL HOURS AND A BILL OF OVER $98.00. CURRENTLY I AM ABLE TO MANUALLY ADJUST THE SEAT AND MIRROR. *NM
AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND HORN, RADIO AND CRUISE CONTROL FUNCTIONS ON THE STEERING WHEEL STOPPED FUNCTIONING. THIS IS RELATED TO A "CLOCK SPRING" MECHANISM THAT WAS SIMILAR TO PRIOR YEAR RECALLS, BUT NOT INCLUDED IN THE 2000 MY.*AK
WHILE STARTING UP THE VEHICLE AIR BAG LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD AND REMAINED ON. THIS CAUSED THE HORN TO BECOME INOPERATIVE. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE CLOCK SPRING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
2000 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY MINIVAN. PURCHASED USED WITH 39000 MILES, 11 MONTHS AND 9K MILES LATER, WITH ONLY 47000 MILES ON THE MINIVAN I HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. CHRYSLER REFUSED TO PAY AND STATED IT WAS NOT PART OF ANY RECALL.*AK I HAVE SINCE SOLD THIS MINIVAN, BUT STILL FEEL CHRYSLER HASA PROBLEM TRANSMISSION AND SHOULD REPAY ME FOR THE TRANSMISSION AND MY RENTAL CAR I HAD TO USE.
I HAVE A 2000 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY LIMITED ALL WHEEL DRIVE MINI VAN. I BROUGHT THE VAN IN FOR SERVICE ON JUNE 30TH BECAUSE THE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS STAYING ON , ALSO NOTHING WAS WORKING ON THE STEERING WHEEL. THE RADIO CONTROLS, THE CRUISE CONTROL, THE HORN, AND I PRESUME THE AIRBAG. THE DEALER IS CHARGING ME $500.00 TO REPLACE THE CLOCK SPRING IN THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS IS A ELECTRONIC CONTROL BOX THAT OPERATES EVERYTHING IN THE STEERING WHEEL. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS PART. *NM
WHILE DRIVING 70-75 MPH, THE CONSUMER NOTICED THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING AND THE VEHICLE WOULD SMOKE FROM UNDERNEATH. THE OWNER PULLED OVER AND NOTICE THAT A TRANSMISSION LINE HAD RUPTURED AND SPRAYED COOLANT. THE VEHICLE IS NOW ON ITS FOURTH REPAIR FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM. *JB
ALL FOUR ORIGINAL TIRES HAVE CONTINUOUSLY LEAKED AIR SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED (MICHELIN TIRES, RADIAL X, SIZE 215/65R16, DOT M30D68AX289). *AK *NM
I HAD A CLICKING IN MY STEERING WHEEL WITH AIR BAG LIGHT GOING ON & OFF THEN IT FINAL STAYED ON. I HAD NO HORN OR CRUISE CONTROL OR RADIO CONTROLS ON STEERING WHEEL. TOOK TO DEALER FOR REPAIR.
AIRBAG LIGHT FLASHES, AIRBAG CONTROLLER AND CLOCKSPRING FAILED, FRONT PASSENGER SIDE PANEL PROTRUDING OUT, AIR BAG TRYING TO DEPLOY. REPAIRS HAD TO BE MADE BY REPLACING THE CLOCKSPRING AND NEW AIRBAG CONTOLLER INSTALLED. *AK THIS WAS ON A TOWN AND COUNTRY - 2000 - CHRYSLER - VAN
TRANSMISSION CAN BE SHIFTED OUT OF PARK WITHOUT FOOT ON PEDAL OR KEYS IN IGNITION. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.
I CAME OUTSIDE ONE DAY AND PRESSED THE KEYLESS ALARM AND HEARD A LOUD EEEEEEEHHHHHHH NOISE. IT WAS MY DRIVERS SIDE REAR DOOR LOCK MAKING THIS LOUD OBNOCIOUS SOUND. THAT WAS BACK IN APRIL OF 2004. THEN JUST THIS MONTH (NOVEMBER) THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT DOOR STARTED MAKING THE SAME NOISE. THIS RESULTS IN ME HAVING TO PRESS THE REMOTE 4 AND 5 TIMES JUST TO OPEN THE DOOR. AS FAR AS THE BACK DOOR, I HAVE TO PRESS THE KEYPAD SEVERAL TIMES AND THEN OPEN THE LOCK FROM THE INSIDE. ON TOP OF THAT, ONE DAY WHEN I WENT TO OPEN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR, THE LATCH JUST POPPED. NOW, YOU HAVE TO ROLL THE WINDOW DOWN IN ORDER TO GET OUT OF THE CAR ON THAT SIDE. GOD FORBID I AM EVER IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE WHOEVER IS ON THAT SIDE OR SITTING BEHIND ME WILL DEFINITELY BE TRAPPED IN THE VEHICLE. AT THIS MOMENT, I AM TRYING TO GET MONEY UP TO GET THESE ISSUES FIXED BECAUSE THE ESTIMATE THAT I RECEIVED FOR JUST THE REAR AND PASSENGER SIDE DOORS WAS ALMOST $400 ALONE. THAT'S NOT INCLUDING THE LIGHTER THAT JUST STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY OR THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW THE FALL INTO THE DOOR IF YOU ATTEMPT TO ROLL IT DOWN.*AK
VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED FROM PARK INTO DRIVE WITHOUT STEPPING ON BRAKE PEDAL. ANTI-THEFT DEVICE WAS STILL ENGAGED ON BRAKE PEDAL PREVENTING DRIVER FROM STOPPING AT RED LIGHT AT INTERSECTION. IN A PANIC, TO PREVENT COLLISION WITH OTHER CARS, DRIVER VEERED OFF ROAD AND SIDE SWIPED COMMERCIAL BUILDING TO STOP CAR.
WHEN DRIVING IN THE RAIN VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING. THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO DRIFT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. CONSUMER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS, BUT PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
WHILE USING THE HEATED DRIVER'S SEAT, SOME SPOTS BECAME VERY HOT. THEN, THE HEATER DID NOT WORK ANYMORE.
DRIVERS HEATER SEAT TO HOT TO USE. MAY START A FIRE IF LEFT ON.*AK
SERPENTINE BELT SLIPPING OFF FOR THE 6TH TIME DURING A RAINY DAY. CONTROL FOR STEERING, POWER BRAKES AND POWER TO BATTERY LOST. PREVIOUSLY REPORTED: ODI NUMBER: 770436 12/4/02; 10054483 1/20/2004. ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED.*AK
IT SOUNDED LIKE AN EXPLOSION. THE VAN BEGAN TO DECELERATE AND THE STEERING BEGAN TO LOCK WITHIN ABOUT 10 SECONDS OF THE EXPLOSION SOUND. THE VAN STOPPED AND THE TIRES LOCKED UP. *AK
INTAKE MANIFOLD LEAK THAT IS AFFECTING ENGINE PERFORMANCE AND COOLING. BELT TENSIONER, EFFECTING ENGINE PERFORMANCE.*AK
CLOCKSPRING HAS FAILED LEAVING ME WITHOUT A HORN AND OPERATIONAL AIR BAG. IN ADDITION THE FUEL PUMP IS ALSO NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. COULD THIS BE RELATED TO THE FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM RECALL?
THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AT 72,000 MILES. CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY 604E TRANSMISSION. *NM
RECENTLY MY DAUGHTER MOVED FROM A CAR SEAT TO A BOOSTER SEAT. ON THE WAY HOME SHE FELL ASLEEP. WHEN I TURNED THE CORNER, SHE MOVED AROUND LIKE A CRASH TEST DUMMY. WHEN I CAME TO A STOP, SHE FELL FORWARD. I AM VERY CONCERNED, SO I BEGAN CHECKING WITH FRIENDS AND RELATIVES WHO HAVE CHILDREN MY DAUGHTERS AGE. SOMEONE TOLD ME ABOUT THE EMERGENCY LOCK FEATURE OF THE SEAT BELT. BY PULLING THE SEAT BELT ALL THE WAY OUT AND THEN SLOWLY ALLOWING IT TO RETRACT, THE SEATBELT WILL LOCK IN PLACE KEEPING A CHILD IN A BOOSTER SEAT MORE SECURE. I CHECKED MY CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY VAN, NO LOCKING FEATURE. I CHECKED MY CHEVY TAHOE, SEATBELT LOCKED IN PLACE. I CHECK MY COMPANY FORD ECONOLINE VAN, IT ALSO LOCKED. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER TO FIND OUT IF THERE WAS SOMETHING I COULD DO. I TOOK THE VAN TO THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD THAT THE SEATBELT IS THE WAY IT IS AND THAT IN AN ACCIDENT THE SEATBELT WOULD LOCK. THAT IS GREAT IF SHE IS AWAKE AND SITTING STRAIGHT. WHAT IF SHE IS ASLEEP HAS FALLEN OVER WHILE MAKING A TURN AND IS THEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. THE SEATBELT AT THAT POINT, WOULD MORE THAN LIKELY DO MORE HARM THAT GOOD. I AM VERY UPSET WITH CHRYSLERS MARKETING OF THERE MINIVANS TO CONSUMERS AND THE RESPONSE I RECEIVED FROM THEM. I WOULD LIKE TO GET SOMETHING DONE ABOUT THIS BEFORE SOME CHILD IS INJURED OR KILLED. AS I TOLD CHRYSLER, I DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM PAYING TO FIX THIS, JUST FIX IT. UPDATE TO THE PROBLEM RELATED TO THE SERPENTINE BELT OF A 2000 TOWN AND COUNTRY.(ODI NUMBER: 770436 12/4/02). A FIFTH (5TH) OCCURENCE OCCURED ON JAN 17, 2004 . STILL WITHOUT RESOLUTION OTHER THAN TOW THE VAN AND PUT BACK THE SERPENTINE BELT. *AK
WHILE DRIVING MY CAR WITH THE SEAT HEATER ON, IT SUDDENLY GOT VERY HOT, SO I TURNED THE HEATER OFF. WHEN I GOT TO MY DESTINATION I SAW A HOLE ABOUT THE SIZE OF A PENCIL ERASER HAD BURNED THROUGH THE LEATHER. I LATER REALIZED THAT THERE WAS A HOLE IN MY PANTS AND THE BACK OF MY LEG WAS BURNT. WHEN I CONTACTED CHRYSLER, I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR ALL REPAIRS SINCE MY 3 YEAR WARRANTY WAS UP. BY THE WAY, THE HEATER NO LONGER FUNCTIONS, ALTHOUGH THE LIGHT ON THE SWITCH STILL ACTIVATES WHEN DEPRESSED, MEANING ANY FUSE IN THE SYSTEM NEVER BLEW. *JB
I JUST READ ABOUT THE SEATBELT CONCERNS, AND I WOULD LIKE TO HELP GET THE BELTS RECALLED. I HAVE TWO CHILDREN AND HAVE NOT HAD AN INCIDENT AND WOULD LIKE TO PREVENT ONE ALSO. *AK
DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT WARMER OVERHEATED AND BURNT THROUGH THE SEAT'S LEATHER AND DRIVER'S CLOTHING. THIS RESULTED IN THE DRIVER'S BACK BEING BURNT. *AK
WE OWN A 2000 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY MINIVAN. I WAS REINSTALLING MY CHILDS BOOSTER SEAT IN THE SECOND ROW. I WAS KNEELING INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE BOOSTER SEAT TO SECURE IT TIGHTLY, I THEN LATCHED THE BUCKLE (AND DOUBLE CHECKED TO MAKE SURE IT HAD INDEED LATCHED). NEXT I WAS SHOCKED TO SEE IT COME UNBUCKLED AFTER I HAD HARDLY EVEN BUMPED A CORNER OF THE LATCH WITH MY KNEE (I THINK), AS I TRIED TO GET OFF OF THE SEAT. IT SCARES ME TO CONSIDER, WHAT IF MY DAUGHTER, WHILE MOVING ABOUT AS KIDS DO, ACCIDENTLY UNBUCKLES HER BOOSTER SEAT! I ALSO WORRY THAT MY SON MAY UNKNOWINGLY UNLATCH ONE OF MY YOUNGER DAUGHTER'S CHILDSEATS BY BARELY BUMPING THEIR SEATBELTS AS HE CLIMBS INTO THE REAR THIRD-ROW SEAT! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE HELP CONSUMERS BY INSISTING THAT DODGE/CHRYSLER RECALL THESE DANGEROUS GEN3 (AS I NOW AM AWARE THEY ARE CALLED) SEATBELTS AND REPLACE THEM WITH THE NEWER GEN4 MODEL.*AK
WHILE DRIVING CONSUMER STARTED SMELLING BURNING OF WIRERS. SMELL WAS COMING FROM UNDER DRIVER'S SEAT. DEALER NOTIFIED. PH..
THE HEADLIGHTS ON OUR 2000 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY AWD VAN HAVE FADED TO AN UNSAFE DIM LEVEL OF LIGHT. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WERE TOLD IT WASN'T UNDER WARRANTY. THEY WANTED OVER $1000 TO PUT ALL NEW HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES. WE TRIED NEW BULBS ON OUR OWN, BUT IT DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS VEHICLE IS AN EXPENSIVE, TOP-OF-THE-LINE MODEL AND MUCH TOO NEW TO HAVE SOMETHING AS IMPORTANT AS HEADLIGHTS FAIL. WE STILL FEEL THEY HAVE DIMMED AND ARE NOT SAFE. CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY WITH 3.3 LITER ENGINE. THE IDLER PULLEY FREEZES ON THIS ENGINE (SINCE 1992 DODGE DYNASTY SAME MOTOR, SAME PROBLEM) CAUSING THE SERPENTINE BELT TO COME OFF CAUSING A LOST OF POWER STEERING AMONG OTHER EQUIPMENT FAILURES POWERED DRIVE BELT. (I.E. WATER PUMP, ALTERNATER, ECT).*AK
DRIVING CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY (2000) AWD IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. CLEAR CONDITIONS. APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH. GOOD DISTANCE TO CARS IN FRONT. CAR IN FRONT SLOWS SUDDENLY, I APPLY BRAKES BUT VAN CONTINUES FORWARD AND HITS THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME, WHICH THEN HITS ANOTHER. IN ALL, FOUR VEHICLES ARE AFFECTED. *LA
I HAVE A YEAR 2000 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY VAN THE SEAT HEATER SET FIRE TO THE LEATHER ON THE SEAT. THE DEALER WOULD NOT FIX THE SEAT DUE TO THE VAN BEING UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY NOT THE FACTORY WARRANTY. FROM THE INFORMATION ON THE NET CHRYSLER KNEW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM IN 1999 AND IT LOOKS LIKE THEY DIDN'T BOTHER TO FIX IT IN THE VANS BUILT FOR THE YEAR 2000. HAVING TO PUT OUT A FIRE WHILE DRIVING IS NOT SOMETHING I BARGAINED FOR WHEN I BOUGHT THE VAN. WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF NO ONE SAW THE FIRE AND LEFT THE VAN NEXT TO THE HOUSE? *LA

CONSUMER CONTINUED TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH TRANSMISSION THAT WAS REPAIRED. *PH THE TRANSMISSION CONTINUED TO BE A PROBLEM ESPECIALLY WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS COLD. *JB
ON SEPTEMBER 30, 2003,WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING AROUND TOWN ON ERRANDS WITH OUR FOUR CHILDREN, SHE NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. ULTIMATELY, A HOLE BURNED THROUGH THE LEATHER SEAT AS A RESULT OF A MALFUNCTION/FAILURE IN THE HEATED SEAT SYSTEM. LUCKILY, MY WIFE HAD THE PRESENCE OF MIND TO SHUT OFF THE SEAT AND GET EVERYONE OUT OF THE CAR IN TIME TO AVOID A FULL BLOWN FIRE. HOWEVER, THIS SITUATION WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND A TRAGEDY WAS AVERTED ONLY BY HER QUICK REACTION. A SEAT HEATING SYSTEM THAT DOES NOT HAVE A MECHANISM TO SHUT ITSELF OFF BEFORE IT GETS THIS HOT IS UNREASONABLY DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY AT THE MANUFACTURER'S EXPENSE. *LA
HEADLIGHTS WOULD COME ON AND GO OFF INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. VEHICLE HAD BEEN TO THE DEALER, WHO INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY THING WRONG.*AK
WHILE DRIVING MY 2000 CHRYSLER T&C IN WET WEATHER, THE DRIVE BELT SLIPPED OFF DURING A LEFT TURN. THE STEERING IMMEDIATELY BECAME VERY HARD DUE TO THE LOSS OF POWER. IF MY WIFE HAD BEEN DRIVING THERE COULD HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AS SHE IS NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO TURN THE VEHICLE. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT BERMONT MOTORS SAID THAT THIS HAPPENS OFTEN WHEN GOING THOUGH PUDDLES. LOSS OF STEERING HAPPENS OFTEN WHEN GOING THROUGH PUDDLES? THE DRIVE BELT SLIPS OFF IN WET WEATHER AND PUDDLES! HOW SAFE IS A LOSS OF STEERING, EVEN JUST FOR A LITTLE WHILE? *JB
WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH AND WITH NO WARNING, THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY COVERED UP TO 36000 MILES. *AK THE VEHICLE LURCHED FORWARD, SCREECHED AND THE TRANSMISSION HAD GONE OUT. ALSO, THE FRONT SEAT ADJUSTMENT MOTOR STOPPED WORKING IN THE UP AND DOWN POSITION. *SCC THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER WINDOW MOTORS, AC COMPRESSOR,AND THE AUTOMATIC TAILGATE CLOSE LATCH ALL HAD TO BE REPLACED. *JB
PREMATURE BATTERY FAILURE (TWICE SINCE PURCHASED NEW IN MAY 2000). *AK
THE CONSUMER STATED THAT WHENEVER IT RAINED OR THE BELT BECAME WET IN ANY WAY IT SLIPPED OFF THE PULLEY. WHEN THIS HAPPENED THE CONSUMER LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE. THIS INCIDENT HAS HAPPEN TWICE SINCE OWNING THE VEHICLE. *AK *NM
