TWO YEAR OLD CHILD IS ABLE TO REMOVE RETAINER CLIP AND GET OUT OF CHILD SAFETY SEAT. DEALER NOTIFIED, AND REPLACED CHILD SEAT ON THREE OCCASIONS; BUT, PROBLEM STILL REOCCURRING. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN PARK, BUT REMAINED IN DRIVE, MOVED FORWARD 5 FEET, UNTIL BRAKE WAS APPLIED. THIS VEHICLE HAD A TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT AFTER 12,000 MILES
FOR THE LAST 3 YEARS, WE HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH OUR 2001 TOWN & COUNTRY AWD VAN. I AM IN THE SHOP ALMOST ONCE A MONTH! THE LIST OF REPAIRS ARE AS FOLLOWS: (2001) FAILURE OF REAR-WINDSHIELD WIPER, FAILURE OF DRIVER'S SIDE HEATED SEAT, REPLACED SWITCH, REPLACED FRONT DRIVE SHAFT, REPLACED POWER STEERING RESERVOIR BOTTLE (2002) REPLACED POWER STEERING PUMP, TRANSMISSION FAILURE (2003) OF REAR FAN MOTOR, REPLACED REAR-TAILGATE LATCH, FAILURE OF FRONT PASSENGER HEATED SEAT, DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW STICKS AND STAYS DOWN MOSTLY DURING WET WEATHER AND REQUIRES YOU TO TURN THE DEFROSTER ON HIGH FOR 5 MINUTES TO HAVE IT GO BACK UP, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON DUE TO LEAK IN COMPRESSOR, BELT STILL SQUEALS AFTER A HARD RAIN, KNOB FOR FOG LIGHT WON'T STAY ON. *LA
THE INSURANCE INSTITUTE FOR HIGHWAY SAFETY HAS CONDUCTED TWO 40 MPH CRASH TESTS AND BOTH RESULTED IN A FUEL LEAK. THEY DETERMINED THAT "A WEAKNESS IN THE DESIGN OF A CIRCULAR FITTING WHERE THE FUEL LINES EXIT THE FUEL TANK". CHRYSLER REDESIGNED AND BEGAN. *AK
AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY DURING A SIX CAR PILE UP, OUR VEHICLE WAS THE FIFTH, WE REAR ENDED THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF US AND THEN WE WERE REAR ENDED BY THE VEHICLE BEHIND US. DESPITE WEARING SEATBELTS THE PASSENGER HIT THE WINDSHIELD BECAUSE THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY ON IMPACT.*AK
ENGINE CHECK LIGHT COMES AND A SMELL FROM EXHAUST IS ON INSDE AND OUTSIDE OF VEHICLE. DEALER HAS CONFIRMED THAT INJECTORS WERE LEAKING. MANUFACTURER STATED THERE WAS A RECALL ONLY FOR CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS. *AK
CONSUMER STATES THE DESIGN FLOW OF THE FRONT SEAT HAS INADEQUATE ADJUSTMENT RANGE, WHENEVER CONSUMER DRIVES MORE THAN 20 MINUTES HER LEGS FALL ASLEEP. *YD
CONSUMER SHIFTED GEAR INTO PARK, BUT VEHICLE WAS NOT IN PARK ,IT WAS STILL IN DRIVE. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, AND IS WAITING FOR EXPLANATION OF CAUSE.*AK RIGHT REAR SEAT RECLINER ASSEMBLIES WERE REPLACED DUE TO A RATTLING NOISE. SLIDING DOORS DON'T ALWAYS COMPLETELY SHUT, WHILE DRIVING THEY WILL OPEN, DEALER STATES THIS IS THE DESIGN OF THE DOOR. *SLC
ALMOST 90% OF COMMUNICATION LIGHTS DO NOT LIGHTUP. THERE ISN'T ENOUGH LIGHTING TO SEE AIR CONDIONING/ RADIO,/INDSHIELD WIPERS,ETC. DEALER STATED THAT WAS THE WAY IT WAS MANUFACTURED.*AK
PASSENGER'S SIDE ELECTRIC SLIDING DOOR CAME AJAR. CONSUMER HEARD AN ALARM, AND WITHIN SECONDS DOOR OPENED ABOUT 2 TO 3 INCHES WHILE DRIVING. CONSUMER AUTOMATIC SENSOR TRIGGERED IT TO CLOSE BACK. CONSUMER FELT THIS WAS VERY UNSAFE BECAUSE CHILDREN WERE IN VEHICLE. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED MANUFACTURER. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 50-70 MPH VEHICLE SLIPPED FROM DRIVE INTO NEUTRAL.NO SOUND, NO PRIOR WARNING. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN ON 3 AUG 2001.*AK
POWER STEERING UNIT IS VERY NOISY. FAILURE OF THIS UNIT COULD CAUSE STEERING DIFFICULTY, WHICH COULD CAUSE LOSS OF LIFE.*AK
TWO BENCH SEATS HAVE HOOKS WHERE A CAR SEAT COULD BE INSTALLED. BUT WHEN PASSENGER SAT ON BENCH SEAT COULD FEEL BACK HAD BEEN BRNISED.*AK STEEL U-BOLTS FOR CHILD RESTRAINT SYSTEM PROTRUDE WHEN THE TWO REAR BENCH SEATS ARE RECLINED. THIS PROTRUSION COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURIES. *YH
NOISY POWER STEERING PUMP AND POOR BRAKING. *LA
REAR SIDE DOORS WERE REMOTELY CONTROLLED. WERE OPENED, BUT GOT HUNG UP ON SHOPPING BAG. OWNER PUT ARM THROUGH DOOR TO REMOVE SHOPPING BAG, AND DOOR STARTED CLOSING. IT FAILED TO REOPEN WHILE ARM IN DOOR WAY. SENSOR HAD FAILED. IT CRUSHED ARM. AFTER ARM WAS JERKED OUT, IT CONTINUED TO CLOSE & LOCKED. ALSO LOCK BUTTON HAD RELEASED WHEN ARM WAS RAISED, AND DOOR FLEW OPEN. *AK
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 40 MPH IN THE RAIN, RIGHT FRONT TIRE LOST AIR. THEN, CONSUMER FOUND OUT THAT TIRE HAD EXPERIENCED SIDEWALL SEPARATION. GOODYEAR, INTEGRADY, 215/70R15, DOT M634. *AK DOT#M634C9WR. *SLC
SUDDEN UNEXPECTED BLOWOUT OF RIGHT FRONT TIRE AT 70 MPH ON INTERSTATE 10 IN TEXAS. IMMEDIATE SYMPTOMS WERE DROP OF VEHICLE'S RIGHT FRONT, PULLING OF VEHICLE TOWARD THE RIGHT, AND LOUD NOISE. PULLED TO SHOULDER IMMEDIATELY AFTER ENSURING VEHICLE CONTROL, REDUCING SPEED, AND AVOIDING ADJACENT TRAFFIC. TREAD HAS COMPLETELY SEPARATED FROM BOTH SIDEWALLS AFTER 3,000 MILES ON OEM EQUIPMENT. NO VISIBLE INDICATION OF PUNCTURE OR OTHER ROAD HAZARD. PROPER INFLATION OBSERVED BEFORE INCIDENT AND AFTER ON EACH REMAINING TIRE, INCLUDING FULL SIZED SPARE. DOT OF ALL TIRES IS M30D-ERKX-5000. IN POSSESSION OF TREAD AND BOTH SIDEWALLS AS OF 03/19/2001. CONTACTED CHRYSLER DEALER WHO REFERRED TO TIRE MANUFACTURER. CONTACTED TIRE MFG AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVES WHO OFFERED TYPICAL RETAIL SHOP ANSWERS SUCH AS "IMPROPER MAINTENANCE" OR "YOU RAN OVER SOMETHING". WHILE DRIVING AT 50 MPH ON HIGHWAY IN RUSH HOUR, SIDE IMPACT AIRBAG ON PASSENGER SIDE DEPLOYED WITHOUT ANY WARNING . CHRYSLER SENT OUT AN INVESTAGATOR, BUT DID NOT INFORM CONSUMER OF CAUSE.*AK
CONSUMER STATES THE SEAT BELTS IN THE MIDDLE AND BACK SEAT WILL RELEASE IF BUMPED. *JB
CONSUMER'S CHILD HAD GOTTEN FINGER CAUGHT IN GEARS OF POWER DOOR. . HAS CONTACTED MANUFACTURER. *AK
CAR ACCELERATES ON IT OWN AT ANYTIME. *AK THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO FIX IT AND THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. *YH
BUILT IN CHILD SEAT HAS A FLIP DOWN FRONT WHICH WAS NOT PROPERLY LOCKED. CHILD WAS IN BUILT IN SEAT WHEN IT FLIPPED FORWARD AND THEN BACKWARDS HITTING CHILD IN FACE. CHILD LOST A COUPLE OF FRONT TEETH.*AK
OUR DEALER STATED NO PROBLEM WITH VECHICLE BECAUSE THEIR COMPUTER SAID SO. ON THE LAST OCCURRENCE VAN HAD TO BE TOWED AND WOULD NOT START. *AK
CHILD SEAT - THE 5 POINT HARNESS ON THE CHILD SEAT HAS TWO BUCKLES ON THE SHOULDER STRAPS THAT SNAP INTO A BUCKLE MOUNTED TO THE SEAT. WHEN I INSTALL THE LEFT SHOULDER BUCKLE INTO THE SEAT BUCKLE, THERE IS NO NOTICEABLE "CLICK" FOR CONFIRMATION THAT THE BUCKLE IS SAFELY LATCHED. IF I THEN INSTALL THE RIGHT SHOULDER BUCKLE, THERE IS A DISTINGUISHABLE "CLICK". IF I REVERSE THE ORDER OF INSTALLATION, I GET A SLIGHTLY NOTICEABLE "CLICK" THEN A DISTINGUISHABLE "CLICK". :: LIFT GATE - DOES NOT OPEN IN COLD WEATHER.*AK
BRAKE FAILURE HAS OCCURRED 4 TIMES. 3RD MASTER CYLINDER INSTALLED ON 1/11/01. CURRENTLY AT DEALER FOR REPAIR OF 4TH BRAKE FAILURE. ALL REPAIRS DONE BY DAVID O'NEAL CHRYSLER - RALEIGH, NC. CAR IS UNSAFE FOR OCCUPANTS AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD. *AK
ABS WARNING LIGHT REMAINS ENGAGED. DEALER DOES NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. INITIALLY, THEY SAID BRAKES SYSTEM WAS FAILING, THEN THEY SAID BRAKES WERE OK, BUT WARNING LIGHT NEEDS TO BE RESET. BROUGHT THE VEHICLES IN TWICE BUT STILL DEALER (HOPEFULLY, WITH CHRYSLER'S HELP) UNABLE TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. WE ARE STILL USING THE VEHICLE BUT ARE NOT SURE IF THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE OR NOT. *AK
DO TO CLOCKSPRING FAILURE , MANY PEOPLE COULD BE HURT OR KILLED BECAUSE HORN, & AIRBAGS NO WORKING. THIS IS DUE TO BAD PARTS CAR BUYER'S SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR REPLACEMENT. *TR
CONSUMER STATE THAT THE VEHICLE VEER TO THE RIGHT AND SHE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO LOOK AT IT AND THE DEALER SAID IT'S NORMAL TO DIFT, THE VEHICLE ALSO VIBRATES WHILE DRIVING, THE DEALER IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM BUT HAS NOT FIXED IT. *MJ *CB
THE VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION FAILED. *NM SINCE THE CONSUMER ALREADY HAD THE TRANSMISSION REPAIRED THE MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO REIMBURSE THE COST OF THE REPAIR. *NM
2001 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY DEVELOPED POWER STEERING FAILURE.***NO ANSWER REQUIRED***. *MR POWER STEERING RESERVOIR IS LEAKING POWER STEERING FLUID AND MAKING A SUCKING/GURGLING SOUND. DEALERSHIP WAS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING. *TT *NM
2001 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY EXPERIENCING DOZENS OF DEFECTS.***NO ANSWER REQUIRED***. *MR THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE CONTINUES TO EXPERIENCE AN ISSUE WHICH WAS COVERECD TWICE UNDER THE VEHICLE'S RECALL YET STILL HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED. FOR THE THIRD TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS ILLUMINATED. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG, BUT A SMALL VAPOR LEAL FROM THE GAS TANK IS SUSPECT. THE DEALER CHARGED THE CONSUEMR$115. TO REPLACE THE CORRODED PLASTIC GAS CAP. THE CONSUMER BELIEVES THAT EITHER THE GAS CAP IS INADEQUATE OR THERE IS FAULT IN THE ELECTRICAL SENSORS. *NM
CRASH TEST BY THE INSURANCE INSTITUTE FOR HIGHWAY SAFETY SHOWS THAT FUEL LEAK AFTER AN OFFSET FRONTAL CRASH RESULTED IN A CATASTROPHIC FIRE. *AK
I HAVE NOT YET HAD AN ACCIDENT, BUT, BASED UPON THE RECENT ' REPORTS WISH TO DEMAND A RECALL OF THE 2001 DAIMLER/CHRYSLER MINIVANS, AS THEIR FUEL TANKS LEAKED ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION DURING TESTING. PLEASE HELP FORCE THIS RECALL. I HAVE CONTACTED DAIMLER CHRYSLER VIA MAIL AND EMAIL, AND, THUS FAR, THEY HAVE BEEN UNRESPONSIVE. THANK YOU! *AK

WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS CAUSING THIS "HESITATION" IN THE ACCELERATION OF THE CAR WHILE DRIVING. THE CAR TENDS TO IDLE POORLY SOMETIMES STALLING WHILE AT REST AND/OR REVVING UP WHILE AT REST. WHILE TAKING OFF FROM A STOP SOMETIMES WHEN PUSHING ON THE ACCELERATOR THE CAR WILL NOT PROPERLY ACCELERATE THEN ALL OF SUDDEN KICK IN AND LUNGE FORWARD. NOW THE CAR HAS A "DA, DA, DA" INTERMITTENT HESITATION OR VIBRATION WITHIN THE ENGINE MAKING IT FEEL AS IF YOU ARE RIDING OVER THE SAME TINY BUMPS OVER AND OVER AGAIN FEELING LIKE THEIR IS SOMETHING BRAKING THE CAR INTERMITTENTLY WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING IT WHICH ALSO MAKES THE CAR HAVE A POOR RIDING FEEL. ALSO, WE HAVE NOTICED THAT THIS CAR DOES NOT RIDE SMOOTHLY LIKE THE CAR WE TESTDROVE HERE IN MICHIGAN. WE HIT BUMPS AND IT FEELS LIKE THE CAR IS DROPPING OFF A SMALL CLIFF, BUT THEN ON LITTLE DIVITS THE CAR DRIVES OVER THEN SMOOTHLY, WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE IT IS NOT A TIRE PROBLEM. THE BACK END DOES NOT EVEN FEEL LIKE IT HAS SHOCKS WHEN YOU HIT A BUMP, RATHER IT "BOOMS" AND FEELS LIKE IT IS DROPPING OFF A LEDGE. WE WONDER IF THIS IS ALL RELATED SOMEHOW. ...AND WE WOULD JUST LIKE OUR NEW CAR TO PERFORM LIKE THE LXI WE TEST DROVE THAT HAD SUCH A SMOOTH RIDE.*AK

CONCERNED ABOUT THE GEN 3 SEATBELTS USED IN THIS VEHICLE AS THEY UNLATCH EASILY. *AK
PLEASE REFER TO ABCNEWS.COM PRIMETIME MARCH 7, 2002, DEATH OF BART MORAN AS A RESULT OF DEFECTIVE GEN-3 SEATBELT. THERE IS ALSO A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FROM 5 STATES REGARDING THIS MATTER. MY VAN IS EQUIPPED WITH THESE SEATBELTS AND IS A MAJOR CONCERN TO ME AND MY FAMILY. I HAVE CONTACTED CHRYSLER HEADQUARTERS AND THEY REFERRED ME TO YOUR DEPT. STATING THAT THERE WEREN'T ENOUGH CASES FOR YOUR DEPT. TO LOOK INTO THIS MATTER. HOW MANY PEOPLE MUST BE INJURED OR KILLED BEFORE NHTSA TAKES ANY ACTION. PLEASE RESPOND TO MY CONCERN WITHIN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME, AS MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY IS OF THE UTMOST IMPORTANCE. *AK

ABC SHOWED THAT THE GEN3 SEAT BELTS ARE UNSAFE,I WROTE TO THE DEALER 3/13/02 AND DIAMLER CHRYLER ON 4/08/02 . I RECIEVED A CALL TODAY FROM DIAMLER CHRYLSER STATING THEY ARE NOT REPLACING THE SEAT BELTS.THEY ARE SENDING ME A LETTER. CONSUMER IS CONCERNED WITH A POTENTIAL GAS LEAK WHICH MAY OCCUR IF THE VEHICLE IS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION AT A LOW SPEED, CONSUMERS VEHICLE WAS MANFACTURERD PRIOR TO THE TIME THE MANUFACTURER REDESIGNED AND BEGAN INSTALLING REPLACEMENT PARTS TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, CONSUMER IS REQUESTING THAT THE PART BE REPLACED OR BE GIVEN A NEW VEHICLE ENTIRELY THAT DOES NOT HAVE A GAS LEAK PROBLEM.*JB

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SLAMS INTO A LOW GEAR WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THIS HAPPENS ONCE THE "IDIOT LIGHT-ENGINE" ILLUMINATES. PART THAT DEALERSHIP WANTED TO REPLACE WAS SOME SORT OF MODULE WHICH THERE WERE NO PARTS FOR. PART IS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER FROM CHRYSLER CORPORATION. PLEASE DESCRIBE DETAILS. *AK
THIRD ROW SHOULDER BELT UNLATCHED WHEN DRIVER HAD TO BRAKE HARD. THIS ALLOWED CHILD THAT WAS IN A CHILD SAFETY SEAT TO FLY FORWARD TO THE NEXT ROW OF SEATS IN FRONT. PLEASE DESCRBE DETAILS. *AK
I JUST HAD THE DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER DOOR MALFUNCTION IN SUCH A WAY THAT THE DOOR COULD NOR BE OPENED MANUALLY, WITH THE REMOTE OR WITH THE POWER BUTTON IN THE CAR. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM. GOOD THING I DID NOT HAVE AN ACCIDENT WHERE THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE VAN WAS DAMAGED OR OBSCURED. GOD FORBID A FIRE. AND GUESS WHAT, THE 36000 MILE WARRANTY JUST RAN OUT. AS DID $500 OF MY MONEY. ANOTHER PROBLEM IS WITH THE POWER DOORS AND POWER TRUNK (HATCH). THEY WILL NOT CLOSE PROPERLY. THESE OPENINGS WILL ATTEMPT TO CLOSE, BUT RIGHT BEFORE THEY COMPLETE THE ACTION, THEY REVERSE TO A FULLY OPEN POSITION. THE DEALER CANNOT SEEM TO FIX THE PROBLEM, EVEN AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THEY HAVE HAD MAY VANS IN THEIR SHOP FOR AT LEAST 12 DAYS N THE PAST TWO YEARS TRYING TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. I WILL GIVE THE DEALER SOME CREDIT, AFTER THE LAST VISIT I HAVE NOT HAD THIS PROBLEM. THE WINDSHIELD WIPER NOZZLE SPRAYED 1/3 OF THE WAY FROM THE BASE OF THE WINDSHIELD WHICH RESULTED IN POOR VISIBILITY. THE SPRAY NOZZLE ISN'T ADJUSTABLE. *JB SCC
