Headlights: low beams do not work at all but high beams do. Second time this vehicle has had the same problem. Last time Chrysler replaced under a lifetime replacement, just short of a recall yet here I am having the same problem again.
The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated while attempting to make a left turn at a red light at approximately 15 MPH, the vehicle stalled almost causing the contact to crash into another vehicle. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was drivable and was taken to a dealer who diagnosed the vehicle with a wheel bearing failure. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure occurred. The vehicle was taken to several other independent mechanics who provided different diagnosis and repaired the vehicle; however, the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was not notified of this failure. The failure mileage was 188,000.
AFTER 2 complaints about defective air bag sensors "THAT GOT ME NOWHERE", I guess you can forget about it because I put a piece of tape over the airbag light. they put the junk sensors in ALL the 2005 vans and some 2006 but for some reason NOT ALL WERE RECALLED.. I don't understand why this hasn't been resolved.. I'll be [XXX] if I'm paying 300-400 bucks for something that other people are getting repaired for free.. THANKS FOR NOTHING... The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler Town & Country. The contact stated that the airbag warning light had been illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicle's front side impact sensor had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 10V008000 (Air Bags) which he linked to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that his vehicle was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 175,000.
Instrument cluster started spazing out then smelled wires burning. Resulted in the body control module catching fire.
THE CONTACT'S SISTER-IN-LAW OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HER SISTER-IN-LAW WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT WHEN THE VEHICLE FROM BEHIND, HAULING A TRAILER, REAR-ENDED THE VEHICLE WHICH RESULTED IN HER REAR-ENDING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT. THE CONTACT'S SISTER-IN-LAW HIT THE STEERING WHEEL FOUR TIMES DURING THE CRASH AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT'S SISTER-IN-LAW RECEIVED MEDICAL ATTENTION ON THE SCENE AND WAS TRANSPORTED BY AMBULANCE TO THE HOSPITAL. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated while driving 35 mph, the parking brake warning light had illuminated the instrument panel. After she checked her parking brake and saw that it was not engaged, she continued to drive and noticed an abnormal rubber odor coming from the vehicle. She continued driving and then noticed white smoke coming from the dashboard. The contact panicked and attempted to stop the vehicle however, the vehicle continued to accelerate independently. The contact was able to drive the vehicle into a parking lot and placed the vehicle in park. The smoke then progressed from white to black as she tried to exit the vehicle however, she was unable to exit the vehicle since all the electrical features were inoperable. The contact then heard her doors unlock after multiple attempts to open them and immediately ran out of the vehicle. The contact called her husband who was a mechanic and he was able to drive the vehicle to their home. The authorities were not called to the scene and no injuries were reported. The contact's husband was able to assess the vehicle damage and discovered an active fire inside the dashboard module which he was able to extinguish. Her husband was able to determine that internal wiring within the module had caused the fire. Several electrical failures, as well as severe internal damage, rendered the vehicle undrivable. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 190,000.
MY TRANSMISSION WANT MAKE MY CAR GO IN REVERSE, AND WHEN I PUT IT IN DRIVE IT WILL GO BUT FOR A LITTLE WHILE THEN IT GROWS COULD YOU GUYS HELP ME, WHAT SHOULD I DO.
VEHICLE STARTS UP AND AS YOU ACCELERATE INTO AN INTERSECTION THE VAN DIES. MECHANIC REPLACED INTAKE MANIFOLD AND RELATED SENSORS AND CHECK THE COMPUTER BUT BELIEVES THE PROBLEM IS THE WIRING HARNESS. DIAGNOSTIC WAS RUN ON THE COMPUTER AND THAT IS NOT THE PROBLEM. MECHANIC THOUGHT HE HAD FIXED IT BUT 2 MINUTES OUT FROM THE MECHANICS SHOP THE VEHICLE DIED AND KEPT DYING AS I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR. I HAD TO MAKE IT BACK TO THE SHOP GOING ABOUT 5 MILES PER HOUR. AFTER A $843 REPAIR BILL THE VAN STILL WON'T RUN WITHOUT DYING AND IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE.
MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS WILL TURN ON BY THEMSELVES OR STOP WORKING WHEN THEY ARE IN USE. THIS ALSO CAUSES THE HEADLIGHTS NOT OT WORK AND SOME OF THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS TO LIGHT UP. THIS IS CAUSED BY WATER SOMEHOW GETTING UNDER THE FUSE BOX AND SHORTS THE WIRES OUT. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY HIGHWAY IN THE RAIN. I NEVER KNOW WHEN THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN AND IT IS VERY DANGEROUS.
ON 01\29\2020, THE ABS, BRAKE, AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHTS DISPLAYED ON THE DASH. NOW INTO WINTER, THE VEHICLE NO LONGER HAS TRACTION CONTROL AND ABS. DIAGNOSTICS REVEAL THAT THE ABS MODULE HAS PROPER POWERS AND GROUNDS EVEN UNDER LOAD. SO FAR, THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THE ABS MODULE HAS A PROBLEM WITH COMMUNICATION, DIAGNOSED AT THE LOCAL INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP. SO FAR THE VEHICLE IS NOT REPAIRED, AND CONTINUES TO BE OPERATED WITH THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL OUT OF OPERATION.
CENTER AIRBAG LIGHT KEEPS GOING ON AND OFF.. THERE IS A RECALL ON OTHER VEHICLES LIKE THIS.. WHY NOT MINE?
AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON WHEN I START THE CAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND REMAINED LIT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC OR DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
THE LOCKS ARE NOT WORKING OR THE HORN EITHER
AT APPROXIMATELY 105,000 MILES I BEGAN NOTICING A STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE BOTH INSIDE & OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE- RUNNING OR NOT. AT ABOUT THE SAME TIME I NOTICED A BIG DROP IN FUEL EFFICIENCY. WE ARE NOW GETTING AN AVERAGE OF 10 MPG. THE NORM IS AN AVERAGE OF 19 MPG. THE VEHICLE STARTS FINE & THERE ARE NO CHECK LIGHTS ON. I BELIEVE THE ACCELERATION IS ALSO SLOWER NOW. OUR FAMILY IS THE ORIGINAL OWNER & THE VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. COMMON SENSE TELLS US THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. THERE SEEM TO BE MANY OTHERS WITH THIS SAME ISSUE & IT'S DISAPPOINTING TO FIND NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT IT. WE ARE A ONE CAR FAMILY & WE HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE.
UPON BLACKING OUT WHILE BEHIND THE WHEEL OF THE 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY TRAVELLING 40 MPH THE VEHICLE COLLIDED WITH 2(TWO) PARKED VEHICLES ON THE SIDE OF THE STREET. WHEN I CAME TO, I DISCOVERED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED I WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE MYSELF FROM THE VEHICLE DUE TO BEING PINNED BETWEEN THE DASH AND THE SEAT WHICH HAD SLID FORWARD WITH THE VEHICLE IMPACT, NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. I SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES, WITH INJURIES TO THE FACE FROM HITTING THE STEERING WHEEL THAT REQUIRED SUTURES TO CLOSE IN ORDER TO HEAL CORRECTLY.
MY CAR RAN FINE AND HAD NO PROBLEMS. ONE FOGGY MORNING HOWEVER, I WAS DRIVING AND STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT. WHILE PRESSING THE BRAKE, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY REVVED UP. THE CAR LURCHED ME TOWARD THE STOP LIGHT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, BUT HE DIDN'T FIND ANY PROBLEM. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN ONE RAINY DAY. THE ENGINE STARTED REVVING. THE CAR LURCHED ME TOWARD WHILE I PRESSED THE BRAKE. AND NOW ITS BEEN DOING IT FOR A FEW MONTH.
The contact owned a 2005 Chrysler Town & Country. While driving on a country road when a truck turned in the front on the contact. The motor came through the firewall crushing his legs and trapping the contact in the vehicle. The neighbor came and pulled the contact out of the vehicle. The contact sustained blood clots in one leg and pinched nerves. The ambulance came and rushed the contact to the hospital and he was in the hospital for 15 days. A police report was filed. The fire department came and extinguished the fire. The vehicle was totaled. The contact was the only person in the vehicle. The airbag did deploy. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The mileage was 152,000
FILED COMPLAINT ABOUT DEFECTIVE AIRBAG SENSORS LAST YEAR AND HEARD NOTHING BACK.. THEY ARE STILL DEFECTIVE..THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE BUT MY VIN IS AFTER THE ONES THAT WERE RECALLED.. THEY ALSO HAVE THIS ISSUE IN 2006 TOWN AND COUNTRIES.. THEY USED THE SAME JUNK PARTS IN ALL THE VANS, WHY WEREN'T ALL OF THEM RECALLED FOR THIS..THERE IS A NUMBER YOU HAVE ISSUED FOR THIS, EA06003. HAS ANYTHING BEEN DETERMINED TO ALLOW ALL VEHICLES WITH THIS PROBLEM TO BE COVERED UNDER THE RECALL ORDER.. THANKS...
SIMILAR TO RECALL CAMPAIGN ID 14V343000: MY VEHICLE WHILE IN MOTION HAS EXPERIENCE ENGINE SHUTOFF. THIS SUBSEQUENTLY DISABLES POWER STEERING, BRAKES, AND AIRBAGS. TWICE, IN AS MANY WEEKS, THIS HAS OCCURRED ON CITY STREETS.
VEHICLE WAS IN A SEVERE FRONTAL ACCIDENT AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.
LOST MY POWER STEERING AT 70MPH ON I75, TRAVELING FROM OHIO TO MICHIGAN, CHRISTMAS, WITH MY FAMILY IN THE CAR. THE WHEEL ON THE RT HAD SOME WOBBLE IN IT, BUT I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE STOPPED WITH VERY LITTLE STEERING LEFT. STEERING FLUID ALL OVER UNDER THE VEHICLE. I LOOKED IT UP ON LINE, AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A NOTORIOUS PROBLEM WITH THE 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY, WITH A $1300+ REPAIR BILL. HAVE THERE BEEN CRASHES BECAUSE OF THIS? IS THERE A RECALL ON THIS? WHY NOT? WE WERE VERY LUCKY THIS TIME.....
DURING A HEAVY TRAFFIC ON HWY THE ENGINE DIED CASING ME TO STOP IN THE MIDDLE NOT BEING ABLE TO MERGE RIGHT OR LEFT. AFTER SEVERAL MONTHS OF INVESTIGATION, I FOUND OUT THAT THE ELECTRICAL HARNESS THAT POWERS THE INJECTORS WAS NOT WELL INSULATED CAUSING THE WIRES TO MELT. THE ECU DIDN'T RECORD ANY CODES WHICH LED ME TO START THE REPAIR BY ELIMINATION. THE ECU WAS REPLACED AND PROGRAMMED BECAUSE NO CODES WERE REGISTERED. THE COIL PACK WAS REPLACED BECAUSE OF THE RANDOM FIRING LOSS. THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED BECAUSE THE NEW SPARK PLUGS WERE COMPLETELY DRY, AND FINALLY AFTER REPLACING ALL SENSORS, THE HARNESS WAS CHECKED FOR CORROSION THAT WHERE I FOUND THIS SECTION OF THE HARNESS MELTED.
AFTER REFUELING THE VAN STALLS AT LEAST ONCE BUT MAY STALL UP TO THREE TIMES. THE ENGINE SURGES IN RPM BEFORE STALLING. RESTART AFTER A STALL CAN SOMETIMES BE DIFFICULT. I HAVE LET THE VAN IDLE FOR SEVERAL MINUTES AFTER REFUELING BUT IT DOES NOT STALL WHILE STATIONARY. IT USUALLY OCCURS WITHIN A MINUTE OF OPERATION ON THE STREET AND GENERALLY WHILE PULLING OUT OF THE GAS STATION LOT ONTO THE ROADWAY. ONCE THE CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN FOR A FEW MILES THERE ARE NO OTHER OCCURRENCES OF STALLING UNTIL IT IS REFUELED AGAIN. THE ISSUE USED TO BE INFREQUENT A FEW YEARS AGO BUT IS NO OCCURRING AFTER EVERY REFUELING.
HELLO, I CURRENTLY HAVE A MECHANICAL ISSUE WITH MY 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY. IF I FILL THE GAS TANK UP COMPLETELY, THE ENGINE WILL STALL. THIS POSES A SAFETY RISK, AS A SUDDEN STOP ON THE HIGHWAY OR CITY ROADS CAN TURN ME INTO AN OBSTACLE AND ACCIDENT RISK. CHRYSLER REFUSES TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, THERE IS A CHRYSLER SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THE EXACT ISSUE THAT I'M HAVING. MY VEHICLE IS AN MDH 0901XX, AND IT IS BUILT AFTER 09/01/2003. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, AND THE TECHNICIAN DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT THIS MEANT. THE MDH FORMAT IS MMDDHH WHERE MM IS THE MONTH, DD IS THE DAY, AND HH IS THE HOUR. EXAMPLE: MDH 100819 DECODES AS: 10 = TENTH MONTH (OCTOBER) 08 = EIGHTH DAY 19 = NINETEENTH HOUR (7 PM) MY VEHICLE'S MDH IS 0901XX. IT WAS BUILT IN 09/2004. AND OF COURSE, IT'S HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM THAT THIS NHTSA-ISSUED SERVICE BULLETIN ADDRESSES. BUT THE DEALER TECHNICIAN STILL REFUSED TO SERVICE MY VEHICLE. *MY VEHICLE IS ELIGIBLE TO BE REPAIRED UNDER THIS WARRANTY EXTENSION (15-YEAR/UNLIMITED MILES, ACCORDING TO THE DOCUMENT ABOVE). DRIVING ON STREETS AND FREEWAY IT WILL ALL OF A SUDDEN DIE. DIES WHEN YOU PUT IT IN REVERSE. OPEN SIDE DOORS FLASHERS COME ON. CHECK ENGINE COMES ON DISCONNECT BATTERY FOR ABOUT AN HOUR THE ENGINE LIGHT WILL BE GONE. HAPPENS OUT OF THE BLUE SOMETIMES SCARY. BUT IT HAPPENS EVERY OUTING WE TAKE..
I OWN A 05 TOWN AND COUNTRY AND THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM HAS BEEN FAILING THOUGH THE ENTIRE VEHICLE FROM THE RADIO SHORTING OUT, HEADLIGHTS FLICKING ON AND OFF, REAR SENSORS FAILING, UPPER DISPLAY ABOVE THE MIRROR GONE BLACK WHERE THE TEMP. AND MILES TILL EMPTY CONTROLS ARE. ON TOP OF THAT THE CAR IS NOW RANDOMLY STALLING WHILE DRIVING HAS ME IN FEAR TO DRIVE IT WITH MY KIDS. I HAVE READ HUNDREDS OF REPORTS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE WITH NOT ONLY THIS YEAR BUT ALL THE WAY UP THROUGH 2012. MY MECHANIC HAS CHANGED THE ERG VALVE AND MANY OTHER PARTS BUT THERE HAS GOT TO BE A BIGGER ISSUE. CARS SHOULD NOT BE STALLING OUT WHILE DRIVING. IF YOU LOOK INTO ALL THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SPECIFIC CAR STALLING RANDOMLY YOU WILL SEE THAT THERE IS A HUGE ISSUE WITH THIS IN MANY YEARS OF THIS CAR AND SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT IF THEY HAVEN'T ALREADY DUE TO THIS ISSUE WITH THIS SPECIFIC MAKE AND MODEL. I AM REQUESTING A FULL INVESTIGATION INTO ALL THE REPORTS ON THIS ISSUE SCATTERING THE INTERNET AND I HOPE ACTION IS TAKEN TO SAVE LIVES. WHEN THE CAR STALLS WHILE DRIVING THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES FAIL AND IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS
VEHICLE IN MOTION OR STATIONARY. GAUGE CLUSTER FLUTTERS, TACH, FUEL, TEMP GAUGE HAVE ERRATIC MOVEMENT FLUTTERING UP AND DOWN AT A RAPID RATE. SPEEDOMETER NOT AFFECTED WHEN IN MOTION. FLUTTERING CAN BE ACTIVATED ON IT'S OWN, OR TURN SIGNAL, POWER WINDOW SWITCH OR BRAKE SWITCH CAN CAUSE THE FLUTTERING OF GAUGES AS WELL, AT SOME POINTS, FLUTTERING BECOMES SO BAD, IT WILL RESTART THE RADIO AND CAUSE THE DASH WARNING LIGHTS TO FLICKER AS WELL (OIL LIGHT, SEAT BELT LIGHT ETC...). I HAVE A VIDEO OF THIS HAPPENING ON MY DASH BUT IT LOOKS LIKE ONLY IMAGES ARE ALLOWED TO BE UPLOADED. HAPPENS AT ANY TIME. 5 MILES, 100 MILES, 50 MILES ETC... THIS IS MY 2ND MINI VAN THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED ON AND EVENTUALLY IT GETS SO BAD THAT VEHICLE WILL REFUSE TO START. THE OTHER MINI VAN THAT THIS HAS DONE THIS ONE WAS A 2006 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY ALSO. VIN FOR THAT VEHICLE CAN BE PROVIDED AS WELL IF NEED BE, OR A SEPARATE REPORT CAN BE MADE ON THAT VEHICLE. ONLY ONE DATE CAN BE SELECTED ON THIS FORM BUT THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS NOW.
AIRBAG LIGHT ON INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TURNS ON WHILE DRIVING AND THEN TURNS OFF. THIS JUST STARTED HAPPENING WITHIN THE LAST 2 WEEKS. 190,000 MILES. HAPPENS ANYTIME 0-60 MPH. NOT TURNING, JUST STRAIGHT AHEAD DRIVING.
DON'T GET ME WRONG I LOVE MY CHRYSLER T&C LX STOW AND GO. I ONLY HAVE 4 PROBLEMS WITH IT. THIS ONE IS FOR THE TRANSMISSION AND IT SCARED THE LIVING CRAP OUT OF ME! LAST NIGHT ON MY WAY HOME ON THE HIGHWAY I WENT TO PASS A SEMI AND GOT ABOUT HALF WAY AROUND IT AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I HEARD A LOUD WHINNING NOISE AND NEXT THING YOU KNOW MY RPM WERE FULL BLOWN AND I WAS NOT GAINING SPEED I WAS STUCK AND NO WHERE TO GO AS CAR WAS APPROCHING A HEAD ON COLLISION I HAD TO SLAM ON MY BRAKES AND PRAY NO ONE WAS COMING UP BEHIND US AND GET BACK BEHIND SEMI!! HE WAS BLOWING HIS HORN AND I WAS FREAKING OUT. I MAD IT SAFELY BEHIND SEMI WITH SECONDS TO SPARE BEFORE ME AND MY 2 DAUGHTERS WOULD HAVE BEEN DEAD OR SMASHED INTO TREES. I PULLED OVER AND AFTER CATCHING MY HEART AND PUTTING IT BACK IN MY CHEST GOT OUT AND CHECKED TRANNY FLUID IT WAS FULL AS IT IS SITTING THERE WHINING I COULD NOT IMAGINE WHAT WAS GOING ON. I GOT IN AND IT TOOK A BIT FOR IT TO KICK IN GEAR BUT IT DID . THAN IT SLIGHTLY SLIPPED IN 3RD ON WAY HOME STILL WHINNGING. I WENT TO AUTO ZONE THIS MORNING WHILE STILL WHINNNING AND SLIPPING HERE AND THERE AND HAD CODES READ TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTIONED. AND GEARS 1 AND 3 MALFUNTIONED TOTALLY DEFECTS SOMEWHERE. STILL SEARCHING FOR ANSWERS!!

IT IS ALLOWING RAW GAS TO ENTER THE CHARCOAL CANISTER, NOT JUST FUMES. THE TANK MUST BE REPLACED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I HAVE CONTACTED CHRYSLER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, NO ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 135,177.
I FILLED UP MY GAS TANK. I BARELY GOT DOWN THE ROAD AND MY ENGINE STARTED SPUTTERING. AS I ENTERED A LEFT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. I RAN INTO A CURB AND HAD TO PRESS THE GAS PEDDLE SEVERAL TIMES TO KEEP IT FROM DYING. AFTER TRYING TO TURN THE WHEEL SEVERAL TIMES THE STEERING FINALLY LOOSENED UP. THE CAR CONTINUED TO SPUTTER ALL THE WAY HOME. I TOOK THE CAR OUT AN HOUR LATER AND THE SPUTTERING HAD QUIT AND THE STEERING WAS BETTER. 2 DAYS LATER I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. AS I ENTERED A LEFT CURVE MY STEERING LOCKED UP. THIS WAS VERY SCARY BECAUSE I HAD MY DAUGHTER IN THE CAR. I MANAGED TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY, BUT THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN AT ALL. I PLAYED WITH THE WHEEL TRYING TO TURN IT BACK AND FORTH. I TURNED OFF THE VAN AND THEN BACK ON AGAIN. THE WHEEL WAS STILL LOCKED. FINALLY AFTER SEVERAL SCARY MINUTES THE WHEEL UNLOCKED AND I CAUTIOUSLY CONTINUED HOME. THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS AS WE COULD HAVE GOTTEN IN A SEVERE ACCIDENT SINCE THIS HAPPENED AT FREEWAY SPEEDS. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKING UP HAS HAPPENED OFF AND ON BEFORE AFTER STARTING THE CAR AND ATTEMPTING TO BACK OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY. IT ALWAYS LOOSENED UP AFTER A FEW MINUTES. NOW I AM SCARED TO DRIVE THIS CAR BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHEN THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. THIS IS OUR PRIMARY TRANSPORTATION. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT WHEN IT IS WET OR RAINING THE CAR WILL ALSO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE STEERING.
THERE IS GASOLINE LEAKING FROM UNDER THE CAR IN THE AREA OF THE GAS TANK/LINES. THERE IS ALSO A STRONG GASOLINE SMELL INSIDE VEHICLE. I NOTICE THE SMELL MORE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY AND OBVIOUSLY THE LEAK ON THE GROUND WHEN PARKED. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO TAKE A PICTURE OF EXACTLY, IF YOU WANT I CAN SEND YOU A PICTURE OF A STAIN ON THE GROUND.
WHILE TRAVELING DOWN HILL IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD AT APPROXIMATELY 15-20MPH MY 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY SHUT DOWN. I DID NOT NOTICE IF ANY CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS CAME IN BECAUSE I WAS JUST FOCUSED ON NOT HITTING ANYTHING OR DYING. HOWEVER I DID NOTICE THAT THE GAS HAND SAID IT WAS ON E, THE SPEEDOMETER SAID 0, AND THE TEMPERATURE GAGE WAS AT THE COOLEST SETTING. THE BREAKS STOPED WORKING COMPLETELY AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS VERY HARD TO TURN. IF IT HAD NOT BEEN FOR THE SPEED BUMPS IN MY ARE HOOD I WOULD HAVE WRECKED FOR SURE. THANKFULLY I DIDN'T AND INWAS ABLE TO SLOWY MAKE THE TURN (WITH A LOT OF EFFORT) I NEEDED TO AT THE END OF THE HILL. THE HEADLIGHTS AND THE RADIO DID WORK THE ENTIRE TIME. ONCE I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VAN COMPLETELY I TURNED THE KEY TO THE OFF POSITION AND RESTATED IT. IT DID START ON THE 1ST TRY AND I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME (LESS THEN 1 MILE AWAY). I AM NOW TERRIFIED TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE NO ONE CAN FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT. THE VAN HAS BEEN KEPT IN GOOD SHAPE, OIL CHANGES, SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE, ETC. AND IT'S NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT.

I WENT TO MY LOCAL DEALER ( ROBERT LOEHR ) IN CARTERSVILLE GA AND WAS TOLD THAT MY VAN WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THIS "SAFETY IMPROVEMENT CAMPAIGN" BECAUSE MY VIN WAS NOT PART OF THE CAMPAIGN THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THE REPAIR. I THEN CALLED CHRYSLER AND SPOKE TO TORIE AND SHE SAID THAT IT WAS ONLY FOR VEHICLE IN THE "SALT BELT" BUT MY VAN'S VIN WAS BUILT IN THE SAME TIME FRAME AS THE DEFECTIVE PART BUT BECAUSE MY VAN VIN WAS NOT PART OF THE CAMPAIGN SHE WOULD HAVE TO HAVE ME TALK TO SOMEONE IN CUSTOMER SERVICE. I SPOKE TO EMILY AND SHE STATED THAT BECAUSE MY VIN WAS NOT PART OF THE CAMPAIGN I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. I THEN SPOKE TO HER SUPERVISOR MIKE AND TOLD ME THE SAME THING BUT THAT AFTER I GOT THE REPAIRS MADE TO CONTACT THEM TO SEE IF I WAS ELIGIBLE FOR AN REIMBURSEMENT. IT SOUNDS TO ME THAT CHRYSLER KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS SENSOR BUT THEY ONLY WANT TO REPLACE THE ONES WHERE THERE IT SNOW AND THEY SALT THE ROADS. I LIVE IN NORTH GEORGIA AND WE HAVE SNOW AND THEY SALT THE ROAD PLUS WHAT ABOUT PEOPLE THAT TRAVEL INTO AREA (LIKE ME) WHERE IT SNOWS AND THEY USE SALT. CHRYSLER KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS PART AND SHOULD REPLACE IT NO MATTER WHERE LIVE. IN THE LETTER CHRYSLER SENT TO NHTSA THEY STATE " HOWEVER, CHRYSLER HAS INFORMED NHTSA THAT IT WILL PROVIDE THE MODIFICATIONS DESCRIBED ABOVE AT NO COST" BUT YET THEY WANT ME TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR REPAIRS ON THEIR DEFECTIVE PART. I FEEL THIS SHOULD BE "UNDER THE SAFETY ACT" BECAUSE CHRYSLER KNOWS THERE IS A SAFETY PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE BUT REFUSE TO COVER IT UNDER THEIR "SAFETY IMPROVEMENT CAMPAIGN". *TR

MY VAN DIES ON ME WHILE DRIVING AFTER I FILL UP WITH GAS. DOES IT EVERY TIME NOW. I PULL OUT OF THE GAS STATION AND AM IN THE STREET AND IT DIES, I RESTART IT AFTER A MINUTE BUT AS I TRAVEL FURTHER INTO TRAFFIC AND SLOW DOWN BEHIND ANOTHER CAR OR A LIGHT IT DIES AGAIN. IT SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE EACH TIME. I READ OTHER COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME THING AND THAT IT WAS A BAD PART SO I CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY SAID TOUGH, THE FACTORY WARRANTY WAS UP. WHEN I ASKED FURTHER THEY HUNG UP ON ME. I LIVE ON A VERY WINDY AND HILLY ROAD WITH ZERO SHOULDER, JUST A MILD TO STEEP DROP OFF INTO TREES. IF I STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS ROAD, NO ONCOMING CAR WILL SEE ME IN TIME TO STOP AND THEY CAN'T GO ONTO A NON-EXISTANT SHOULDER. IT WILL BE WORSE WHEN SNOW AND ICE COME. THE INTEGRATED POWER MODULE WENT OUT ON OUR MINIVAN. THE MECHANIC THAT WAS ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM GAVE US A TENTATIVE QUOTE BASED ON THE LAST CHRYSLER MINIVAN HE REPLACED ONE ON OF $380. WHEN HE CALLED ALL OF HIS NORMAL PARTS DISTRIBUTORS NO ONE CARRIED THEM ANY LONGER. HE THEN CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY QUOTED HIM $570. THE MECHANIC EXPLAINED TO US THAT IT IS ABNORMAL BECAUSE USUALLY PARTS FOR OLDER MODELS BECOME LESS COSTLY, UNLESS YOU HAVE A COLLECTIBLE CAR, AND HE SAID AN 05 T&C IS MOST DEFINITELY NOT A COLLECTIBLE CAR. HE STATED THAT THE DEALER ONLY CARRIES PARTS ON HAND IF THEY ARE USING THEM REGULARLY, WHICH IMPLIES THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. THE MECHANIC STOPPED SHORT OF OUTRIGHT CLAIMING CHRYSLER IS EFFECTIVELY PRICE GOUGING CONSUMERS. THIS IS A MECHANIC WE TRUST & HAVE USED BEFORE, & TRUST HIS FRANKNESS & FRUSTRATION ABOUT THE SITUATION. HE EVEN EXPLAINED THAT HE CAN NOT USE AN USED PART BECAUSE OF PROGRAMMING ISSUES THAT CHRYSLER BUILT IN.
