RACK & PINION DEFECTIVE IN 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY. SYSTEM IS ON BACK ORDER FOR 2-3 WEEKS AND DEALERSHIP (EASTSIDE CHRYSLER & JEEP) HAVE INFORMED THAT THIS CAR IS SAFE TO DRIVE AND I WILL ONLY COMPLETELY DESTROY THE SYSTEM, WHICH IS "BEING REPLACED ANYWAY". *NM
AIR BAG SENSOR I HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE DEALERSHIP SINCE I PURCHASED THE VAN NEW I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET RESULTS. *TR
PUT MY CAR IN SERVICE JUST 3 DAYS BEFORE MY TRIP. I WAS 700 MILES FROM HOME WHEN MY CAR JUST SHUT DOWN. I WAS STUCK ON SATURDAY WITH NO CHRYSLER SERVICE STATIONS OPEN UNTIL MONDAY. IN THE END CAR WAS READING 1/4 TANK BUT WAS ACTUALLY EMPTY. I RENTED A CAR TO CONTINUE MY TRAVEL WHILE THEY WORKED ON MY CAR. TOOK ALL WEEK AND THEY STILL DIDN'T COMPLETE FIXING IT. PICKED IT UP ON MY WAY BACK HOME AND IT TOOK OVER 3 WEEKS TO FIX ONCE BACK HOME. REPLACED FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT, THIS DID NOT WORK. REPLACED BCM UNIT AND REPLACED, DID NOT WORK. IN THE END HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP, FUEL MODL KIT, AND TANK SUBLET REPAIR. *NM
DRIVING NORMALLY, HEARD GRINDING NOISE AS I STOPPED FOR A RED TRAFFIC LIGHT. LIGHT TURNED GREEN, STEPPED ON ACCELERATOR TO GO AND TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT RESPOND. COULD NOT PUT AUTO INTO PARK POSITION. TWO LIGHTS CAME ON, THE ENGINE AND THE TRANSMISSION THROTTLE INDICATOR. CALLED CHRYSLER ROADSIDE SERVICE AND WAITED FOR AN HOUR BEFORE TOW TRUCK ARRIVED. AUTO WAS TOWED TO NEW SMYRNA BEACH DEALERSHIP. WAS TOLD IT WAS TO LATE TO GET ANYTHING DONE THAT DAY(3:00-3:30PM). WAS GIVEN A RENTAL CAR TO GET HOME. THAT WAS ON 12/08/05 AND IT IS NOW 12/09/05 AT 1:00PM AND I HAVE HAD NO RESPONSE FROM THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT. I WILL BE CALLING THEM AFTER I FILE THIS COMPLAINT TO FIND OUT THE STATUS OF MY CAR REPAIR. I WENT ONLINE TO FIND OUT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS MAKE OF CAR FOR SIMILAR PROBLEMS. WHEN WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE WE NOTICED A LEAK IN THE FRONT PASSENGER FLOORBOARD. WE INITIALLY THOUGHT IT WAS RAIN WATER BUT AFTER A CONTINUED CONSTANT LEAK WE REALIZED IT WAS THE SIR CONDITIONER. OTHER YEARS OF THE SAME MODEL HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE AND A RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT SHIFTED INTO PARK AND LEFT THE VEHICLE IDLING IN THE DRIVEWAY. WHEN SHE RETURNED, THE VEHICLE HAD ROLLED FORWARD AND WAS LODGED BETWEEN A TREE AND ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE PASSENGER SIDE FENDER AND EXTERIOR LIGHT WERE DAMAGED. THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS NOT DAMAGED. NO POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 68,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,800. UPDATED 12/30/08. *LJ UPDATED 01/05/09.*JB
THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE TRANSMISSION. FIRST PROBLEM WAS DISCOVERED IN DECEMBER 2005. THE DEALER FIXED THE PROBLEM. NEXT PROBLEM OCCURRED MARCH 22. HE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND IT'S STILL THERE UNTIL THIS TIME. TALKED TO THE DEALER AND DAIMLER CHRYSLER CORPORATION A NUMBER OF TIMES AND HAVE NOT HEARD OF ANY GOOD NEWS EITHER FROM THE DEALER OR DAIMLER CHRYSLER CORPORATION. WE NEED HELP AND ASSISTANCE BECAUSE WE I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON. *JB
MY 2 YEAR OLD SON WAS EXITING OUR CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY VAN WHEN HE REALIZED HE HAD FORGOTTEN HIS DVD PLAYER IN THE CAR. I HAD ALREADY PRESSED THE BUTTON TO AUTOMATICALLY CLOSE THE DOOR AND WHEN HE REACHED IN THE DOOR CLOSED SECURELY ON HIS FINGERS. I HAD TO MANUALLY OPEN THE DOOR AND GET HIS FINGERS RELEASED FROM THE DOOR, WHICH WERE SMASHED!!! WE WERE PROMISED WHEN WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE THAT IT HAD A SENSOR THAT WOULD NOT ALLOW FOR THIS KIND OF THING TO HAPPEN. WE HAVE SINCE LOOKED AT NEWER ONES, AND AGAIN HAVE BEEN GUARANTEED THAT THIS IS THE ONLY MINIVAN THAT PROMISES TO STOP THE DOOR CLOSING PROCESS IF SOMETHING IS IN IT'S WAY!!! WITH ALL OF THESE PROMISES, I HAVE TO SAY THAT WHEN WE CONTACTED CHRYSLER ABOUT THIS, THEY SENT OUT AN INSPECTOR THAT TOOK PICTURES OF THE MINIVAN, AND EXPERIENCED NOT BEING ABLE TO GET THE DOOR STOPPED HIMSELF. THEY MAILED US A LETTER ABOUT A WEEK OR SO LATER THAT SAID THEY WERE SORRY FOR MY CHILDS INJURED HAND, BUT IF YOU READ YOUR OWNER'S MANUAL THAT IT STATES TO BE CAREFUL WHEN OPENING OR CLOSING THE ELECTRIC DOORS!!! WE HAVE HEARD OF SEVERAL OTHER CASES OF THIS HAPPENING, AND ONE WAS A CHILD'S HEAD THAT GOT CLOSED IN THE DOOR. WHAT DO WE HAVE TO DO TO PREVENT THIS FROM BEING MORE SERIOUS THAN A HAND!!! CHRYSLER DOES NOT CARE AS LONG AS THEY'RE SELLING CARS AND PUTTING SAFETY HAZARDS IN FINE PRINT!!! UNFORTUNATELY WE DO NOT KNOW THE EXACT DATE OF THE INCIDENT SINCE IT DID HAPPEN 2 YEARS AGO, BUT AS YOU CAN SEE WE ARE STILL VERY UPSET ABOUT THIS!!! *TR
I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT IN NOVEMBER LAST YEAR. UPON REPAIRING THE VAN, AN INSPECTION WAS DONE ON THE FRONT AIRBAG SENSORS, AND IT WAS TOLD TO ME THAT THEY WERE IN WORKING ORDER. I BELIEVE THAT TO BE A LIE. EVERYTIME MY WIFE MOVES IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT IN THE CENTER PANEL COMES ON. THIS LIGHT USUALLY WILL STAY ON FOR APPROX A COUPLE MINUTES AT A TIME. A GENTLEMAN FROM THE SAFETY DEPARTMENT HAD CONTACTED ME AND TOLD ME THEY WERE INVESTIGATING THE FAILURE OF THE FRONT AIRBAG SENSORS. HE HAD ASKED FOR PICTURES, WHICH AT THAT TIME I DID NOT HAVE. I HAVE PICTURES THAT I HAVE FOUND WHICH I CAN SEND YOU UPON REQUEST. *JB
THE DASH BOARD PANEL LIGHTS WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING TO WORK. THEY DID POP BACK ON AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES.*JB
MINIVAN STALLED WHILE DRIVING, VEHICLE SPUTTERED AND SHUT OFF. VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 36,000 MILES. CHRYSLER CLAIMS IT IS A MAINTENANCE ISSUE RELATED TO ITS THROTTLE BODY. DEALER WILL ATTEMPT TO CLEAN THROTTLE BODY. I BELIEVE THAT A VEHICLE NORMAL USE AND DEALER MAINTENANCE SHOULD NEVER SHUT OFF WHILE IN MOTION AND THAT THERE IS A AN ISSUE WITH CHRYSLERS THROTTLE BODIES. *JB
I PURCHASED A NEW, 2005, TOWN & COUNTRY MINIVAN OVER THE SUMMER. I HAVE JUST 6000 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE. LESS THAN THREE WEEKS AGO I HAD TO TAKE IT IN BECAUSE THE VEHICLE KEPT STALLING OUT. THE COMPANY FIXED IT AT NO COST TO ME, AND EVEN PROVIDED A RENTAL VEHICLE. APPARENTLY THERE WAS AN "IN-HOUSE" RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. MEANING THAT THE DEALERSHIPS KNEW ABOUT IT, BUT NOT THE CONSUMER. NOW, THREE WEEKS LATER I START HEARING A NOISE IN THE STEERING COLUMN. I TOO HAD A 2003 TOWN & COUNTRY MINIVAN WHICH WAS SUBJECT TO STEERING PROBLEMS. I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS FLUID ALL OVER MY DRIVE WAY AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS UNDRIVEABLE. SO, NOW, CHRYSLER REFUSES TO PAY FOR THE RENTAL CAR. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THE PART IN QUESTION WAS ON BACK ORDER, AND THAT THERE WERE OVER 180 PARTS ON THAT BACK ORDER. WHY SHOULD I THE CUSTOMER HAVE TO PAY FOR A RENTAL CAR ON A NEW CAR WHEN THIS IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM. I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE CONTACTED THE COMPANY, AND I ONLY GET THE SAME OLD "I AM SORRY. BLAH, BLAH, BLAH" SONG AND DANCE. WHERE DO I GO FROM HERE? *NM
THIS IS NOT A COMPLAINT - BUT A CONCERN. I WAS RECENTLY INVOLVED IN A ACCIDENT IN MY 2005 CHRY. T&C. I WAS HIT VERY HARD IN THE LEFT FRONT CORNER (ENOUGH TO TOTAL THE VEHICLE) AND NEITHER THE FRONT OR SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED ISSUES WITH HIS BRAKING SYSTEM. HE NOTICED THAT THE PROPORTIONAL VALVE WAS FAULTY AND THERE WAS 100% BRAKING POWER ON THE FRONT WHEELS, AND 0% BRAKING POWER ON THE REAR WHEELS. SUBSEQUENTLY, THE BRAKES WERE DANGEROUS IN WET WEATHER. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AT LEAST FOUR TIMES, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FRONT BRAKES, BUT NEVER INSPECTED THE REAR BRAKES. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE DISC PADS AND CALIPERS ALSO HAD TO BE REPLACED. IN ADDITION, THERE WAS NO ABS IN THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 32,240 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 9,800.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF, THE SLIDING DOORS WOULD OPEN WITHOUT DRIVER INTENT. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE FAILURE. THE DEALER REMOVED THE DOOR SENSOR AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE AT WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE NOT AVAILABLE. UPDATED 05/13/10. *LJ
I READ IN AN ARTICLE THAT YOU HAVE HAD REPORTS OF FAILURES IN AIR BAG SENSORS IN THE 2005 TOWN AND COUNTRY. I HAVE HAD TO HAVE MINE REPLACED TWICE IN LESS THEN A YEAR. *JB
NOISE UNDER HOOD WHENEVER ENGINE TURNED OFF. TOOK VEHICLE IN SERVICE ADVISOR LISTENED AND SAID IT WAS THE ALTERNATOR. ALTERNATOR REPLACED. *NM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED BRAKE FAILURE NUMEROUS TIMES. THE MOST RECENT FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH AND THE BRAKES FAILED TO ENGAGE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST THE VEHICLE INTO A PARKING AREA AND WAS ABLE TO STOP BUY ENGAGING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE BRAKE PAD AND TIRES WERE REPLACED AT 18,000 MILES, THE STRUT WAS REPLACED AT 5,000 MILES, AND THE ROTORS WERE REPLACED AT 28,000 MILES HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE STEERING WHEEL MADE A GRINDING NOISE AND WAS HARD TO TURN. IN ADDITION, THE DOORS COULD NOT BE UNLOCKED AUTOMATICALLY OR MANUALLY AND SOMETIMES THE DOORS OPENED INDEPENDENTLY WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER EXHIBITED OIL CONSUMPTION THEREFORE, THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND THEY COULD NOT COMPLETE THE VEHICLE INSPECTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 48,800.
DT: THE CONSUMER STATED VEHICLE HAD TWO SEPARATE BLOW OUTS ON NEW ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT TIRES. THE RIGHT REAR TIRE EXPLODED WITHOUT ANY ROAD HAZARD OR PRIOR PROBLEMS. THE SPARE TIRE WAS LOCATED UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE AND THERE WAS SOME DIFFICULTY IN RETRIEVING THE SPARE DUE TO ITS LOCATION, ULTIMATELY RESULTING IN AN INJURY TO THE CONTACT'S ARM BY THE EXHAUST. SHE DROVE THE VEHICLE ON A SPARE TO A TRUCK REPAIR SHOP. THE REPAIR SHOP COULD NOT DETERMINE WHY THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED. ABOUT A WEEK LATER A SECOND BLOWOUT OCCURRED WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY WITH THE LEFT REAR TIRE. SHE NOTED THERE WAS A DUSTY POWDERY RESIDUE IN EACH OF THE TIRES AFTER THE BLOWOUT. THE SPARE WAS AGAIN USED UNTIL SHE WAS ABLE TO PURCHASE ANOTHER TIRE. THE TIRE IS A BRIDGESTONE TRANSMISSION WITH A TIRE LINE SIZE P215/65/R16. *AK UPDATED 1129/05. *JB
I WAS A FRONT SEAT PASSENGER IN A 2005 CHRYSLER MINIVAN TOWN & COUNTRY. IT WAS A RENTAL. WE HAD A FRONT END COLLISION AND UPON IMPACT THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY UNTIL WE WERE AT A STOP. ALSO, THE SEAT BELT DID NOT LOCK IN PLACE AND I WAS THROWN INTO THE WINDSHIELD AND DASH. INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. PLEASE ADVISE. *JB
I WAS A FRONT SEAT PASSENGER IN A 2005 CHRYSLER MINIVAN WHICH WAS A RENTAL. WE WERE IN AN ACCIDENT IN WHICH THERE WAS SIGNIFICANT FRONT END DAMAGE. MY SEAT BELT DID NOT LOCK ON IMPACT AND I FLEW INTO THE WINDSHIELD. ALSO, MY AIRBAG DEPLOYED LATE AS WE WERE ROLLING TO A STOP, THEREFORE MY KNEE SLAMMED INTO THE DASH. ACCORDING TO RECORDS, THIS MODEL VAN HAS A RECALL,BUT IT WAS NOT PURCHASED UNTIL 6/05 WELL AFTER THE RECALL IT APPEARS. PLEASE ADVISE. *JB
DT: THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH AT 55 MPH. THE VEHICLE IS A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. UPON IMPACT, THE AIRBAGS IN THE FRONT OF THE VAN DID NOT DEPLOY. THE POINT OF IMPACT WAS THE FRONT END OF THE VAN. THE VAN WAS HIT ALMOST HEAD ON. NEITHER OF THE FRONT DOORS OF THE VEHICLE WOULD OPEN. THE DOORS HAD TO BE PRIED OPEN TO GET THE PASSENGERS OUT. THE DRIVER AND THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE NECK, RIBS, STERNUM ,AND THE COLLAR BONE. BOTH DRIVERS WERE WEARING SEAT BELTS. THE CONSUMER HAVE NOT CONTACTED CHRYSLER AS OF NOW. THERE WERE POLICE AND AMBULANCES INVOLVED. POLICE AND INSURANCE REPORTS WERE TAKEN. THE CONSUMER HAS PICTURES AVAILABLE TO VIEW. THE VAN WAS TOTALED, AND THE IT WAS ONLY A MONTH OLD WITH LESS THAN 1,500 MILES.*AK PHONE INTERVIEW UPDATE (OCT 24, 2005): THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WAS NOT "ON" BEFORE THE CRASH. DRIVER SIDE POWER WINDOW WILL NOT GO DOWN RIGHT NOW. WINDOW HAS BEEN USED LESS THAN 10 TIMES. I HAD A PREVIOUS TOWN & COUNTRY WITH SAME PROBLEM. WHEN WINDOW DID GO DOWN IT WOULD NOT GO BACK UP. IT WILL HAVE TO GO INTO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE. *JB
DT: THE CONTACT HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE MALFUNCTIONED LIGHT COMING ON. SHE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THE RMPS REVVED. SHE WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE . SHE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER . ON 9-12-05 THEY TOLD HER THE VAN WAS READY. THEY SAID WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY, BUT THEY WERE NOT GOING TO CHARGE HER FOR IT. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD HER THAT THE WIRING HARNESS HAD BEEN CUT. THE DEALER TOLD HER THEY HAD SPLICED THE WIRES. THE CONSUMER TALKED TO SOMEONE SHE KNEW WHO WORKED FOR HONDA, AND THIS PERSON SAID THERE WAS NO WAY THE WIRES WERE CUT WHILE DRIVING THE CAR, THE WIRES HAD TO BE THAT WAY WHEN THE CAR WAS MANUFACTURED. *AK
AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY IN FRONT END COLLISION. AIR BAG INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED AFTER THE COLLISION. *JB
NOTICED A GRINDING NOISE IN ENGINE AT 4,000 MILES. TOOK IN FOR THE OIL CHANGE AND MENTIONED TO THE SERVICE ADVISOR THAT THERE WAS A NOISE. AFTER 3 WEEKS IN A RENTAL CAR, THEY FINALLY RETURNED THE VAN AFTER REPLACING THE FOLLOWING: CYLINDER HEAD, VALVES, CYLINDER HEAD GASKET, INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET, 3 PUSHRODS, ROCKER ARM, AND AN AIR CONDITIONER BELT. NOT MORE THAN 8 HOURS LATER, I RETURNED THE CAR WITH A NEW NOISE. THIS TIME THEY REPLACED THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND GASKET AS THEY WERE IMPROPERLY INSTALLED BY THE MECHANIC. FINALLY BACK IN MY OWN CAR AFTER ANOTHER 2 DAYS. *NM
VIBRATION AND IN BRAKE PETAL AND/ OR STEERING WHEEL. WHEN TURNING SHARPLY TO LEFT MAKES A GRINDING NOISE ALSO HAS A BUMPING FEELING LIKE SOMETHING IS LOOSE. SERVICE DEPARTMENT CHECKED AND HAD WARPED ROTORS AND NEEDED FRONT DISK BRAKES FOR THE VIBRATION, THE GRINDING AND THE BUMPING NOISE WAS LOOSE SUSPENSION SWAY LINKS FRONT BRAKES WERE REPLACED AND ROTORS WERE RESURFACED- I HAD TO PAY FOR THE BRAKE AND ROTOR REPAIR; THE SUSPENSION LOOSE SWAY BAR LINKS WERE REPLACE LISTED WAS REPLACED FRONT SWAY BAR LINK AND A LINK-SWAY ELIMINATOR. DRIVER SEAT FEELS LIKE IT HAS LOST ITS CUSHION SOMETIMES FEELS LIKE THERE IS A HARD KNOT OF SOMETHING IN THE TAIL BONE AREA OF THE ANATOMY. THE A/C VENTS ARE UNABLE TO ADJUST FOR COOLING THE FRONT AND SIDE WINDOWS. THE FLOOR VENTS DO NOT LINE UP WITH THE OPENINGS IN THE FLOOR CONSOLE CAUSING ANY AIR TO BE MOVED TOWARD THE FRONT AND UNDER THE DASH. WAS TOLD THE SEAT AND A/C WAS ALL IN NORMAL OPERATION. *NM
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING AT A NORMAL RATE OF SPEED, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT BLINKED ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY. ON FEBRUARY 27, 2007, THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE AIR BAGS. THE CONTACT IS FEARFUL OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE. MY DAUGHTER HAD A SIZE ONE SOCCER BALL ROLL UNDER OUR 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY MINIVAN LAST NIGHT (8/11/05). SHE STUCK HER LEG UNDER THE CAR, UNDER THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR, TO KICK THE BALL BACK OUT AND CAME INTO CONTACT WITH THE EXHAUST PIPE THAT RUNS DIRECTLY UNDER THE DOOR. I THEN REACHED UNDER TO GET THE BALL FOR HER AND BURNED MY WRIST ON THE SAME PIPE. OUR BURNS WERE SECOND DEGREE. MINE WAS SMALL BUT HERS WAS 4 INCHES LONG BY 1-1/2 INCHES WIDE ON HER LEFT THIGH. WE WENT TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM AND ARE FOLLOWING UP TODAY WITH HER PEDIATRICIAN. I FEAR FOR INFECTION IN THE SHORT TERM AND SCARING IN THE LONG TERM. AS TO CORRECTING THE FAILURE, I WILL BE TAKING THE CAR TO OUR CHRYSLER DEALER AND ASKING THEM TO COME UP WITH A SOLUTION. DT: 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY MINI VAN THE CONSUMER PURCHASED NEW ON JUNE 17, 2005 AND IT CAUGHT ON FIRE. ON AUGUST 8,2005 SMELLED SOMETHING COMING FROM THE ENGINE. OPENED THE HOOD AND THERE WAS A FIRE IN THE AIR FILTER/AIR CONDITIONER AREA. CALLED 911, THEY CAME OUT AND CHECKED, BUT THE FIRE WAS ALREADY OUT BY THE TIME THEY GOT THERE. THE FIRE CHIEF WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A CHRYSLER DEALER. AFTER 1 WEEK THE CAR DEALER TOLD THE CONSUMER THAT THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATOR THAT CHRYSLER EMPLOYED. AFTER HE INVESTIGATED THE VEHICLE HE WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE. CHRYSLER GAVE NO EXPLANATION, ONLY THAT THEY WERE GOING TO PAY OFF THE VEHICLE, AND THEY WOULD REIMBURSED. CONSUMER FOR ANY DOWN PAYMENT AND ANY PAYMENT MADE SINCE THEN. THE CONSUMER REPORTED THIS INSURANCE COMPANY. ACCORDING TO CHRYSLER THEY WERE TREATING THE TRANSACTION AS IF IT HAD NEVER OCCURRED. *AK
DT: THE CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT ACCELERATION PROBLEMS. WHILE TRAVELING 5 MPH, AND TURNING TO GET INTO A PARKING SPOT. CONSUMER TURNED TO STRAIGHTEN OUT THE CAR AND ACCELERATOR STUCK, HITTING CEMENT CURVE, IT KNOCKED DOWN A CEMENT PARKING POST AND HEADED DOWN AN EMBANKMENT. THE VEHICLE WENT 30 FEET DOWNWARDS. HOWEVER, WAS RESTRAINED BY UNDERBRUSH. VEHICLE ENDED UP 200 FEET FROM WHERE IT INITIALLY WENT OVER THE CURB IN A RAVINE. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THAT AN ACCIDENT OCCURRED. CONSUMER DID NOT HAVE VEHICLE CHECKED FOR ANY ACCELERATION PROBLEMS. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. CONSUMER WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP; THEY SUGGESTED THAT CONSUMER CALL NHTSA. 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED VIN# [XXX] - THREE TIMES WITHIN THE FIRST 1600 MILES, THIS CAR EXHIBITED UN-COMMANDED ACCELERATION WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THE FIRST TIME TO 2500 RPM, THE SECOND TO 3000 RPM AND THE LAST TIME IT WENT FULL THROTTLE! THROWING THE SHIFT LEVER INTO NEUTRAL AND WAITING A FEW MOMENTS WOULD END THE INCIDENT. WHEN THE SERVICE DEALER REPLACED THE TIRE AND PUT THE SPARE BACK INTO PLACE IT CAME OFF WHILE THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING ON JULY 26, 2005. THE SPARE TIRE WAS LOCATED UNDERNEATH THE PASSENGER SIDE AND DRIVER SIDE SEAT. THE SERVICE MANAGER OF THE DEALERSHIP WAS MADE AWARE OF THIS CONCERN. WHEN I HAD MY TIRES ROTATED ON MY 2005 CHRYSLER T&C AT 18,000 MILES THEY SAID I HAD RADIAL PULL. CHRYSLER DIDN'T SUGGEST TO REPLACE TIRES, SO I ROTATED THEM AT 23,000 MILES AND STILL HAD THE SAME RESULT. NOW THEY SAY I SHOULD REPLACE THEM TO CORRECT THE PULL. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WHEN I OWNED THIS VEHICLE, WHEN DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEEDS OVER 65 MPH THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER WHEN I HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD COMPLETE WITH LOSS OF POWER STEERING. ALTHOUGH I WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT, THERE WERE MANY CLOSE CALLS INCLUDING ALMOST BEING HIT FROM BEHIND BY A TRACTOR TRAILER. SHAKEN, I CALLED THE CAR AGENCY EVERY TIME I HAD AN EXPERIENCE AND BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN AFTER EACH INCIDENT BOTH IN NJ AND IN SOUTH CAROLINA. ON EVERY OCCASION, I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR AND NO ERROR CODES WERE PRODUCED FROM THE COMPUTER. I QUESTIONED WHETHER THERE WERE ANY RECALLS OR BULLETINS, AND DEMANDED THAT A CHRYSLER REP. REVIEW THE COMPLAINTS, TO NO AVAIL. I HAVE A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY LIMITED MINIVAN, BOUGHT NEW IN OCTOBER 2004. I HAVE HAD THE SAME ELECTRICAL ISSUES (HEADLIGHTS BRIGHTEN AND DIM, INSIDE LIGHTS BRIGHTEN AND DIME, RADIO STATION CHANGES UNEXPECTEDLY) SINCE THE FIRST 6 MONTHS TO 1 YR I HAD THE CAR. (FUNNY, FAMILY AND FRIENDS HAVE ALL NOTICED THE PROBLEM WHILE WE ARE DRIVING WITHOUT ME POINTING IT OUT!)! I ALLOWED MY DEALER TOO CORRECT THE PROBLEMS EACH TIME. THEY ASSURED ME THAT THEY WERE DOING ALL THEY COULD, BUT HAVE HAD A TERRIBLE TIME DUPLICATING THE ISSUES. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP TOO MANY TIMES TO COUNT, UP TO 3 WEEKS+ AT A TIME. I AM ALWAYS GIVEN A LOANER AND THE DEALER SERVICE IS GREAT, BUT I WOULD JUST LIKE A CAR THAT WORKS. I HAVE 3 BOYS AGES 13,10 & 8. MY 10 & 8 YR ARE SEVERELY AUTISTIC. BUYING A NEW CAR IS JUST NOT AN OPTION. THE LEMON LAWS DON'T APPLY BECAUSE OF THE AGE OF THE CAR, EVEN THOUGH THE PROBLEMS HAVE STARTED WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR. CHRYSLER CORPORATE HAS BEEN NO HELP (THE AREA REP INFERRED THAT I WAS A LIAR). THEY "GRACIOUSLY" OFFERED ME ANOTHER YEAR ON MY 7YR/70,000 MILE WARRANTY. WHEN I USED SERVICE UNDER THIS NEW WARRANTY THE DEDUCTIBLE ROSE BY $50. THE DEALERSHIP OWNER NOR MYSELF HAD ANY IDEA THAT THERE WOULD BE AN INCREASE. THEY JUST TOLD US THAT COVERAGE WOULD EXTEND ANOTHER YEAR BEYOND THE ORIGINAL EXPIRATION DATE. MY HUSBAND AND I BOUGHT CHRYSLER FOR THE NAME AND BECAUSE WE THOUGHT THEY WOULD STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT. BOY WERE WE DUPED. WE SPENT OVER $32,000 FOR A CAR THAT WE WOULD DRIVE FOR MANY YEARS. MY FAMILY (ME, MY WIFE, AND TWO YOUNG CHILDREN) WAS ON THE WAY TO AN AMUSEMENT PARK DURING A SLOW, STEADY RAIN AT AROUND 10:30 AM ON SATURDAY, JUNE 10, 2005 ( I KNOW IT SOUNDS CRAZY). WE WERE CRUISING ALONG IN THE LEFT HAND LANE OF A THREE-LANE HIGHWAY AT AROUNG 65 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE IN OUR 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY JUST QUIT. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VAN ACROSS THE OTHER TWO LANES OF TRAFFIC AND ONTO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THE OIL LIGHT HAD COME ON AND WAS STILL ON WHEN WE STOPPED. I HAD CHANGED THE OIL EARLIER IN THE WEEK AND WAS WORRIED I FAILED TO TIGHTEN SOMETHING. BUT I CHECKED THE OIL FILER, PLUG AND FLUID LEVEL AND EVERYTHING WAS OK. MY WIFE CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WHILE I CALLED THE DEALER. AFTER EXPLAINING WHAT HAD HAPPENED, THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALER HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS WRONG AND NEITHER DID WE. WE FINALLY GOT AN INSIGHT TO THE PROBLEM WHEN THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER CALLED FOR OUR LOCATION. HE ASKED US IF WE WERE OUT OF GAS. WE TOLD HIM OVER AND OVER OUR FUEL GAGE WAS READING 3/8 FULL. HE KEPT INSISTING WE WERE OUT OF GAS. I THEN CHECKED THE TRIP ODOMETER - IT READ JUST UNDER 380 MILES - WHICH IS A LOT OF MILES FOR THIS VAN. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER ARRIVED, PUT A GALLON OF GAS IN THE GAS TANK, AND AFTER A QUICK JUMP START, THE VAN STARTED RIGHT UP. THE DRIVER SAID HE ONLY DOES HIS JOB PART TIME, BUT HAS HAD TO DO THE SAME FOR AT LEAST 20 OTHER DRIVERS OF SIMILAR VANS THIS YEAR. SO I CALLED THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALER AGAIN AND HE CONFIRMED THEY HAD REPLACED COMPONENTS RELATED TO THE FUEL SYSTEM IN THE 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY MINIVANS. HE SAID TO BRING THE VAN IN MONDAY (JUNE 13TH, 2005) TO GET LOOKED AT. HE DID MENTION IN PARTICULAR THE FUEL PUMP AS A POSSIBLE SUSPECT. SO AT THIS POINT, THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED.
IF YOU TAP THE KEY WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING IT SHUTS THE MOTOR OFF. THE STEERING LOCKS AND YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OVER CAR. IT DOES THIS IN REVERSE AND DRIVE ALSO. *JB
