WAS TOLD I NEED TO REPLACE THE RACK AND PINION STEERING ON MY VEHICLE. LESS THAN A YEAR AGO I HAD THE PUMP FOR THIS REPLACED. *TR
AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON AGAIN. THERE IS A RECALL AND MY STATE IS INCLUDED BUT NOT MY VAN. HAD THE SAME PROBLEM A FEW YEARS AGO. THERE WAS A RECALL. I TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP AND HAD IT REPLACED. NOW, IT IS ON AGAIN. I SEE MANY PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS SAME THING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE ENGINE WAS RESTARTED AND THE VEHICLE RESUMED AS NORMAL. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED IN REGARDS TO THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,462.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS MALFUNCTIONED ON EACH DOOR. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO LOCK AND UNLOCK THE DOORS WITH THE KEY BUT NOT WITH THE KEYLESS ENTRY REMOTE. THE CONTACT REMOVED THE FUSE WHICH CONTROLLED THE DOORS AND RE-INSERTED THE FUSE. THE REPAIR ONLY REMEDIED THE MALFUNCTION TEMPORARILY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
MY HUSBAND, MYSELF AND OUR 4 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WERE DRIVING OUR 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY TOURING MINI VAN, ALL OF A SUDDEN WAS A LOUD BANG SOUND. MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO PULL THE CAR OVER AND WHILE DOING SO I LOOKED IN THE BACK SEAT TO CHECK ON MY 4 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WHO HAD HER FACE COVERED WITH BOTH ARMS. WE FOUND THE SLIDING DOOR WINDOW ON THE PASSENGER SIDE HAD EXPLODED AND SHATTERED. THIS HAS TRAUMATIZED MY 4 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND THANK GOD SHE WASN'T HURT. OUR FIRST THOUGHTS WERE SOMEONE WAS SHOOTING IN OUR VEHICLE. THE COPS CAME TO THE SEEN AND COULDN'T FIND ANY BULLET MARKS, THEY STATED IT MUST HAVE BEEN A DEFECT. I HAVE CONTACTED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THERE ARE SUPPOSEDLY NO RECALLS WITH OUT VIN#. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY SERIOUS SITUATION AND I FEEL AS IF CHRYSLER SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS. I AM HAVING TO PAY $100.00 DEDUCTIBLE FOR THIS REPAIR. *TR
HAVING TROUBLE WITH ABS LIGHT COMING ON AND OFF. REPLACED ABS SENSOR, CHARGING SYSTEM FAILED, REPLACED ALTERNATOR. DRIVING AT FREEWAY SPEED WHEN TRAFFIC STOPPED. BRAKE THE VEHICLE, THE ANTI LOCK BRAKING FAILED AND THE BRAKES LOCKED UP CAUSING A SKID AND WAS UNABLE TO STOP AND HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND RETURNED TO THE ROAD, ABS LIGHTS CONTINUE TO GO ON AND OFF. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY REPAIR SHOP AND THEY SAY THAT THE REAR SPEED SENSOR IS CODING FOR THE LEFT SIDE. REPAIR SHOP ADVISED THAT TSB INFORMATION IS KNOWN. TSB INFORMATION: THERE ARE KNOWN SOFTWARE CONFLICTS ON THIS VEHICLE WHICH MAY SET THE INCORRECT TROUBLE CODE AND ALSO MAY SHOW INCORRECT SCAN DATA. SERVICE BULLETIN # 05-003-07 GROUP: BRAKES DATE: JUNE 13, 2007 THIS TSB IS FOR CHRYSLER PACIFICA 2205-2006. MY CHRYSLER T&C HAS THE SAME SALES CODE (BGF) AS THE PACIFICA. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS VEHICLE IS A SAFETY HAZARD AS THE ABS LIGHTS ARE ON MOST OF THE TIME. WHEN THE ABS LIGHT IS ON THE COMPUTER ALSO STATES THAT THE TRACTION CONTROL IS OFF. *TR
AFTER FUELING CAR AND LEAVING GAS STATION MY 2005 TOWN AND COUNTRY VAN SPUTTERS AND STALLS WHILE MOVING INTO TRAFFIC. THIS BEGAN TO HAPPEN OCCASIONALLY ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND NOW OCCURS EACH TIME THE CAR IS FILLED. I AM NOW FEARFUL OF PULLING OUT OF A STATION AS I WAS NEARLY REAR ENDED WHEN MY CAR STALLED IN TRAFFIC. MY RESEARCH HAS FOUND THIS SAME COMPLAINT HAS BEEN FILED BY AT LEAST 27 OTHER OWNERS. THIS IS POTENTIALLY VERY DANGEROUS FOR OWNERS, PASSENGERS AND OTHERS ON THE HIGHWAY. HOPEFULLY THIS WILL BE INVESTIGATED. I FEEL CHRYSLER SHOULD BE MADE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM SINCE THIS OCCURS IN SO MANY OF THE 2005 T & C, HAVE A RECALL AND CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED. THE CONTACT STATED AFTER TURNING THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH VARIOUS TIMES, THE HEADLIGHTS FINALLY ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS OR REPAIRS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
BOUGHT MY 2005 T&C CHRYSLER MINIVAN IN SPRING OF 2009 WITH A LITTLE OVER 69,000 MILES ON IT. FEW MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE THE RED AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT WOULD OCCASIONALLY COME ON WHILE AT IDLE OR DRIVING RATES. NO OTHER PROBLEMS OCCURRED AND IT WASN'T HAPPENING FREQUENTLY. BY THE END OF THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNERSHIP, THE DRIVER SIDE BACK DOOR LOCK QUIT WORKING WITH THE AUTOMATIC LOCKS, AND WITHIN A YEAR AN A HALF THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW WOULD OCCASIONALLY NOT ROLL UP OR DOWN AND THE FRONT DOME LIGHTS QUIT WORKING. REPLACED AN AIR CONDITIONER PART ALSO. SPENT $500 ON THE FRONT END AS WELL THAT YEAR. WHEN WINDOW FAILURE WAS MORE FREQUENT I STARTED RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET ABOUT PROBLEMS THAT HAVE BEEN COMMON IN THIS MAKE AND MODEL OF VAN. ON OCT 4TH 2011, THE VAN FAILED TO START, MAKING A TICKING SOUND, FIGURED BATTERY OR ALTERNATOR. WE CLEANED BATTERY CABLES, TRIED WHAT WE COULD TO GET IT STARTED. THE RADIO AND DASHLIGHTS CAME ON,ALL THE GAUGES WOULD JUMP ERRATICALLY; WHEN WE ROLLED UP THE PASSENGER WINDOWS RADIO REMAINED ON, HOWEVER WHEN WE ROLLED UP THE DRIVERS WINDOW THE RADIO AND ALL GAUGES QUIT WORKING. WE ENDED UP JUMPING IT AND WERE ABLE TO DRIVE IT HOME. HAD THE BATTERY TESTED AND TRIED A BRAND NEW BATTERY TO MAKE SURE THAT WAS THE ONLY PROBLEM. WHEN WE PUT THE BATTERY IN AND STARTED IT, FLAMES SHOT UP FROM THE MIDDLE SECTION OF THE VAN, JUST INFRONT OF THE ENGINE. THE PANIC ALARM, THE HORN, AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WHERE ALL GOING OFF. AS SOON AS WE GOT THE BATTERY DISCONNECTED THE FIRE WENT OUT AND ALARMS AND WIPERS WENT OFF. I TALKED TO THE NEAREST CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND FROM EXPLANATION OF THE VARIOUS PROBLEMS THEY SAID IT SOUNDED LIKE SEVERAL LITTLE PROBLEMS AS OPPOSED TO ONE BIG ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. I HAVE 3 SMALL CHILDREN AND AFTER THE EXPERIENCES I HAVE HAD WITH THE VAN AND READING OTHERS ISSUES ONLINE, I CANT WAIT TO GET RID OF THIS PIECE. *TR

I HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE AS MANY OTHERS ON THIS POSTING. MY 2005 CHRYS. TWN & CNTRY STARTED BY THE LIGHTS FLICKERING ON AND OFF, THEN RECENTLY HAS BEEN HARD TO TURN ON. I HAVE TO TOGGLE ON/OFF SWITCH AND BRIGHTS TO FINALLY GET THEM TO TURN ON. ONCE I GET THEM ON THEY OFTEN TURN OFF BY THEMSELVES AND I HAVE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD TO GET THEM BACK ON AGAIN THROUGH THE WHOLE PROCESS. IT IS GETTING INCREASINGLY HARDER TO OPERATE THE LIGHTS. *TR
BOTH HEADLIGHTS STOPPED WORKING AT NIGHT. I HAD TO HOLD THE BRIGHT LIGHT SWITCH ON FOR AN HOUR DRIVE HOME IN THE DARK. THE NEXT DAY THEY DIDN'T WORK, THEN WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC, THEY FIDDLED WITH THE SWITCH AND GOT IT WORKING. BUT MANY MANY FOLKS ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS ON-LINE. PLEASE ISSUE A RECALL. *TR

THE CONTACT HAD TO UTILIZE THE HIGH BEAM LIGHTS TO ILLUMINATE THE ROADWAY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHAT WAS CAUSING THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 119,000.
2005 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY. CONSUMER WRITES TO EXPRESS DISCONTENT WITH TOYO TOURING TIRES *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED IN JAN 2011, HE PURCHASED TWO TOYO TIRES FROM HIS LOCAL TIRE DEALER. HOWEVER, ONE OF THE TIRES SUFFERED A SEVERE BLOW OUT. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED. HOWEVER, THE REPLACEMENT TIRE SUFFERED TREAD SEPARATION AND BLEW OUT. THE CONSUMER REPLACED THE TIRE WITH ANOTHER BRAND. WHILE DRIVING FOR THE THIRD TIME, THE LAST TOYO TIRE BLEW OUT, WHICH CAUSED THE CONSUMER TO RUN OFF THE ROAD AND INTO A DITCH. THE CONSUMER SUFFERED A LOWER BACK INJURY. THE CONSUMER STATED THE TWO TIRES HE ORIGINALLY PURCHASED AND THE REPLACEMENT TIRE HAD TREAD SEPARATION AND BLEW OUT. *JB
PURCHASED DOUGLAS XTRA TRACK II TIRES AT WAL-MART IN AUGUST 2011. ONE WEEK TO THE DAY LATER WITH LESS THAN 100 MILES ON THE TIRES ONE BLEW OUT. COMPLETE FAILURE RIPPED THE MIDDLE TREAD BLEW APART. MY DAUGHTER WITH A LEARNERS PERMIT WAS DRIVING AND THANKFULLY AT A SLOW SPEED OF ABOUT 40 MPH. RETURNED THE CAR TO WAL-MART. THEY DID NOT WARRANTY THE TIRE BUT DID REPLACE IT UNDER THE ROAD HAZARD WARRANTY I HAD PURCHASED. TWO OF THE REMAINING TIRES HAD SIGNIFICANT CREASES ON THE SIDE WALLS. THE MGR. SAID THAT IS NORMAL WHERE THE TIRE IS PUT TOGETHER. ALL 3 TIRES WERE LOW (1 WEEK AFTER INSTALL NO OFF ROAD). THEY AIRED THEM UP AND REPLACED THE BLEW TIRE AND I HAD TO PAY FOR THE ROAD HAZARD WARRANTY ON THE NEW TIRE. THE TIRES BOUNCE, THEY LOSE AIR CONSTANTLY, I AIR THEM UP WEEKLY. I HAVE ASKED REPEATEDLY ABOUT THE WEDGES IN THE SIDE WALLS WHICH ARE GETTING WORSE. I AM TOLD IT IS NORMAL AND I MAY WANT TO PURCHASE NEW TIRES FOR A SMOOTHER RIDE (BOUNCE). THEY RE-BALANCE AS OFTEN AS MY ROAD WARRANTY ALLOWS AND THAT IMPROVES BOUNCING USUALLY FOR ABOUT 10 DAYS. I HAVE TALKED TO SEVERAL PEOPLE WHO HAVE SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THIS TIRE PURCHASED AT WAL-MART. ON YOUR SITE I SEE AT LEAST 17 COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS TIRE BUT NO INVESTIGATIONS. I GUESS THAT SPEAKS TO WHO WAL-MART HAS IN THEIR POCKET. THESE TIRES ARE AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN AND I AM SURE THEY HAVE CAUSED SOME. ACCORDING TO WAL-MART THE SEPARATION OF TREADS ARE A ROAD HAZARD SO I AM SURE ACCIDENTS ARE CHALKED UP TO BAD ROADS, NOT BAD TIRES. I MEAN WAL-MART SAYS IT SO NO INVESTIGATIONS ARE COMPLETED. AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKING AND UNLOCKING FAILURE IN CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY 2005 VAN. NO WAY TO GAIN ENTRY ON THE PASSENGER SIDE TO ASSIST CHILDREN & ELDERLY MOTHER TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. REMOTE FAILED TO WORK AS DID THE INSIDE UNLOCKING CONTROL ON DRIVERSIDE. *TR
THE VEHICLE STALLS WHENEVER FUEL TANK IS FILLED EVEN IF THE PUMP FULL CUTOFF IS USED. IF NOT FULL IT HESITATES AFTER SLOWING DOWN TO TURN AND THEN SPEED IS INCREASED. IT WAS FIRST DIAGNOSED AS A FUEL PROBLEM AND AN ADDITIVE WAS NEEDED. ON MARCH 8, 2012 IT WAS GETTING WORSE AND THE CHRYSLER DEALER SAID IT WAS CAUSED BY TOPPING OFF THE GAS TANK. THEY CHANGED THE FUEL FILLER CAP, NATURAL VACUUM LEAK DETECTOR,AND VAPOR CANNISTER. THE VEHICLES PERFORMANCE HAS NOT IMPROVED. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST THAT LOCATED THE FAILURE IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED AND THE MANUFACTURER DENIED ASSISTANCE WITH THE REPAIR BECAUSE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
HELLO, I HAVE A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY TOURING MINIVAN. OVER THE PAST SIX MONTHS I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE LOCKS AND DOORS NOT WORKING. I WENT ONLINE AND SAW THAT A GREAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM. YOU NEED TO REPLACE THE FUSE FOR TEN SECONDS AND THEN EVERYTHING IS BACK TO NORMAL. THIS HAPPENS ON A WEEKLY BASIS AND SOMETIMES SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK. THIS IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE THE CAR SOUNDS LIKE IT LOCKS BUT IT DOES NOT. TODAY I WAS COMING HOME FROM THE BEACH DOING 55 AND THE CAR COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING AND I HAD TO GO OVER TWO LANES AND WAS LUCKY THAT I WAS NOT PLOWED INTO BY THE TRUCK BEHIND ME. I THEN PULLED OVER AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND STARTED THE KEY AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. I MADE IT HOME FINE. I LOOKED ONLINE AND I SEE THAT IT IS A BIG PROBLEM WITH A GREAT MANY PEOPLE AS WELL. WHY HAS CHRYSLER NOT ADDRESSED THESE ISSUES. MY WIFE AND I SHARE A CAR AND I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. THANKS *TR
I HAD TWO CHRYSLER PRODUCTS, (ONE MINIVAN AND ONE RAM PICKUP), WITH THE SAME CONCERN WITHIN A MATTER OF WEEKS. WHEN TURNING ON THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL, THE OUTSIDE RIGHT TURN SIGNAL FLASHES. I OWN A SERVICE REPAIR SHOP AND CHECKED MY "IDENTIFIX" DATA BASE AND SEE THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH CHRYSLER PRODUCTS. THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH IS BAD CAUSING THIS CONCERN. *TT

THE INSTRUMENT PANEL STOPPED ILLUMINATING AND THE POWER DOOR LOCKS ALSO STOPPED FUNCTIONING. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO DRIVE DURING THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON TWO OCCASIONS. THE ONLY LIGHT THAT WOULD ILLUMINATE WAS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON TWO OCCASIONS WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE OR DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. ADHESIVE USED ON TAILLIGHTS OF 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY FAILED IN 105 DEGREE AIR TEMP. OUTER LENS FELL OF COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING. THE INNER PART OF THE LENS WITH BULBS REMAINED ON THE VEHICLE. BOTH DRIVER'S AND PASSENGERS SIDE TAILLIGHTS WHERE AFFECTED. *TR

HEADLIGHTS WILL SOMETIMES WILL NOT TURN ON UNTIL TRIED SEVERAL TIMES. THIS WEEK, WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 38 MPH, THE HEADLIGHTS FLASHED ON/OFF RAPIDLY 3 TIMES THEN REMAINED OFF UNTIL I CYCLED THE SWITCH SEVERAL TIMES. NO MORE OCCURRENCES THAT EVENING OR FOR 4 MORE DAYS, THEN TONIGHT AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 5 MILES HOME, I DECIDED TO TRY THE SWITCH AND FOUND THAT ONLY ABOUT 1 OUT OF 5 TRIES WERE SUCCESSFUL IN GETTING THE HEADLIGHTS TO TURN ON. THE SERIOUS CONCERN IS WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS FLASH AND THEN TURN OFF WHILE I AM DRIVING AND WILL NOT IMMEDIATELY TURN ON. *TR

MY 69 YEAR OLD MOTHER'S 2005 TOWN AND COUNTRY HAS BEEN WHINING FOR OVER A YEAR. TWICE SHE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER IN RALEIGH WHERE SHE BOUGHT IT. THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T REPRODUCE THE WHINE. LAST WEEK, SHE WAS IN A TOWN AN HOUR AWAY AND HAD TO PULL OVER AND HAVE IT TOWED. MECHANIC REPLACED POWER STEERING PUMP, BUT IT DIDN'T CORRECT THE PROBLEM. HE SAYS ENTIRE RACK AND PINION SYSTEM NEEDS REPLACING. HER VAN HAS 52K MILES. *TR
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY ON 6-20-11 AND WHEN SHE WAS MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. SHE STATED SHE ALMOST HIT CARS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED WITH OUR THREE SMALL CHILDREN IN THE CAR (7,5 AND 4 YEARS OF AGE). SHE STATED IT STARTED RIGHT BACK UP AND SEEMED TO DRIVE NORMAL AFTERWARDS. WE TOOK IT TO A CHRYSLER DEALER ON 6-21-11 AND THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM AND THEY STATED THE ONLY ERROR CODE FOUND WAS A LOW VOLTAGE BATTERY. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED. IT WAITS TO BE SEEN IF THIS HAPPENS AGAIN. WE ARE VERY CONCERNED AND I HAVE READ ABOUT A CURRENT RECALL ON 2010 MODELS. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS COULD BE THE SAME TYPE OF PROBLEM OR NOT BUT WE FEEL IT SHOULD BE REPORTED AND OR INVESTIGATED IF POSSIBLE. I PUSHED ON BRAKE PEDAL AND IT WENT TO THE FLOOR. FOUND THAT THE BRAKE LINE GOING TO PASSENGER SIDE FRONT CALIPER WAS WORN THRU AS IF SOMETHING HAD BEEN RUBBING IT. THE PRESSURE FROM ME PUSHING ON THE PEDAL CAUSED THE BRAKE LINE TO BURST AT THE PLACE THAT IT WAS RUBBED THRU. I PURCHASED A NEW BRAKE LINE AT A LOCAL AUTO PARTS STORE AND HAD TO REPLACE ALL THE FLUID IN THE RESEVOIR BECAUSE IT ALL LEAKED OUT THROUGH THE HOLE. *TR

DRIVING MY CAR HOME I PULLED OVER IN A TURN OUT TO MOVE SOMETHING IN THE REAR COMPARTMENT THAT WAS MAKING NOISE. THAT TOOK APPROX. 30-45 SECONDS UNTIL I WAS BACK IN THE DRIVERS SEAT. I SMELLED WHAT I THOUGHT TO BE A FOREST FIRE. IT SMELLED LIKE WOOD OR TRASH BURNING, NOT A VEHICLE SMELL OF OIL, GAS, RUBBER BURNING ETC. I THEN SAW SMOKE COMING UP THROUGH THE CARPET AND FLOOR MAT OF MY FRONT PASSENGER FLOORBOARD. THIS DIDN'T MAKE SENSE TO ME, SO I QUICKLY LOOKED AT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WHICH HAD NO INDICATION OF ENGINE TROUBLE OR OVERHEATING. SO I IMMEDIATELY REVERSED THE CAR TO SEE IF THERE WAS VEGETATION UNDER WHERE I HAD PARKED AND THERE WAS NOT. SO I PULLED BACK INTO THE LANE STILL NOT REALIZING THAT MY CAR WAS ON FIRE. AS SOON AS I PULLED OUT AND ACCELERATED IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT MY CAR WAS ON FIRE. THANK GOD THERE WAS AN IMMEDIATE EXIT TO PULL OFF OF THE HIGHWAY. I WENT TO THE BOTTOM OF THE OFF RAMP, PUT THE CAR IN PARK, POPPED THE AUTOMATIC OPENER FOR THE REAR DOOR AND TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. LUCKILY I HAD A FIRE EXTINGUISHER. SO I READ THE DIRECTIONS VERY QUICKLY AND PULLED THE PIN. THEN I PULLED THE LATCH FOR THE HOOD COMPARTMENT AND WENT TO OPEN THE HOOD. AS I LIFTED THE HOOD I SAW FLAMES SHOOTING UP FROM BEHIND THE ENGINE ALONG THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT FIRE WALL OF THE VEHICLE. I USED MY FIRE EXTINGUISHER TO PUT OUT THE FLAMES BUT IT RAN OUT AND THE CAR WAS STILL SMOKING AND SMOLDERING. I THEN DIALED 911 FROM MY CELL PHONE AND LUCKILY A CHP WAS ONLY A MINUTE AWAY AND CDF WAS ONLY SEVERAL MINUTES BEHIND HIM. CDF CONTINUED TO HOSE THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT FROM BOTH ABOVE AND UNDERNEATH. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE CAN'T DETERMINE A REASON THAT THE CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE ONLY DAMAGE WAS THE INSULATION TO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT FIRE WALL AND TWO SPARK PLUG WIRES WERE PARTLY BURNED. FARMERS INS. CO. NOR THE MECHANIC CAN DETERMINE ANY CAUSE.
ABOUT MAY OR JUNE OF THIS YEAR, THE HEADLIGHTS OF OUR 2005 TOWN & COUNTRY VAN STARTED FAILING TO COME ON WHEN THE INTERIOR SWITCH WAS TURN "ON". AT FIRST, SIMPLE TOGGLING WOULD GET THEM TO WORK THOUGH THE FREQUENCY OF HAVING TO DO THIS AS WELL AS THE LIGHTS FAILING TO STAY ON HAVE INCREASED SIGNIFICANTLY IN THE RECENT MONTHS. THIS IS MY WIFE'S PRIMARY WORK VEHICLE AND SHE OFTEN RETURNS FROM WORK WHEN IT'S DARK. SHE HAD A NUMBER OF INSTANCES WHERE THE HEADLIGHTS HAVE JUST "GONE OUT" WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING. I WAS LOOKING ON THE INTERNET RECENTLY TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY POSTS AS TO WHAT IS CAUSING THIS TO HAPPEN AND NOT MANY HAVE POSTED AN DEFINITIVE ANSWER TO THE HEADLIGHT FAILURE. MY OTHER MAJOR ISSUE WITH THIS 2005 TOWN & COUNTRY IS THE AC SYSTEM. WE HAVE HAD THIS FIXED OVER 11 TIMES SINCE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW IN OCTOBER OF 2005 WITH THE FIRST REPAIR COMING LESS THAN A MONTH AFTER WE PURCHASED THE VAN. *TR
HEADLIGHT SWITCH DOES NOT ALWAYS WORK. INITIALLY IT WOULD TAKE PLAYING WITH SWITCH TO TURN LIGHTS ON. OCCASIONALLY LIGHTS WILL TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING. NOW THE PARKING LIGHTS WILL NOT ALWAYS TURN OFF. *TT

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE FAILURE WAS LOCATED AT THE POWER STEERING PUMP. THE DEALER REPLACED THE POWER STEERING PUMP, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE DEALER PERFORMED A SECOND DIAGNOSTIC TEST THAT LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE RACK AND PINION. THE RACK A PINION WAS LEAKING FLUID. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 138,000.
BEGINNING AROUND MID-2011, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL OUT IMMEDIATELY AFTER FILLING (BUT NOT OVER-FILLING) THE GAS TANK. FILL THE TANK, PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC, ENGINE STALLS. HOPE YOU DON'T GET HIT. THE DEALERSHIP EVENTUALLY CONFIRMED THE PROBLEM WAS A FAULTY VALVE ON THE TOP OF THE GAS TANK THAT IS SUPPOSED TO PASS FUEL VAPOR THROUGH THE EVAP CANISTER TO THE ENGINE TO BURN OFF THE VAPOR THAT GETS DISPLACED AS THE TANK IS FILLED. THE VALVE WAS FAULTY AND WAS PASSING LIQUID FUEL. THE EVAP CANISTER WAS SATURATED AND PASSED LIQUID FUEL TO THE ENGINE WHEN THE ENGINE WAS EXPECTING VAPOR. IT STALLED OUT EVERY TIME. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY FLAW THAT CAN EASILY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AND PERSONAL INJURY. CHRYSLER SHOULD PAY TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. *TR

I NOTICED SOME MINOR RUST ON THE PASSENGER SIDE BETWEEN THE SLIDING DOOR AND THE FRONT DOOR ABOUT 1 - 2 YEARS AGO, EARLIER THIS YEAR AROUND MAY IT WAS MORE NOTICEABLE AND HAD PROGRESSED. IN SEPTEMBER 2011 I NOTICED A HOLE BEGINNING AND IN OCTOBER I STARTED POKING AROUND AND REMOVED ABOUT A 8 INCH BY 3 INCH PIECE OF COMPLETELY RUSTED METAL (IT CRUMBLED). IT WAS WET ON THE INSIDE, IT HASN'T RAINED IN 4 TO 5 DAYS, PLUS IT APPEARS THAT THE INSIDE IS SEALED, SO HOW COULD WATER GET IN? UPON REVIEWING OTHER COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER PEOPLE, I SEE THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF DUE TO CRACKED WELDS WHERE WATER RUNS DOWN BEHIND THE SUPPORTS AND ENTERS THIS CAVITY. WHAT A MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT THAT THEY DID NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS, BECAUSE THE REST OF THE VEHICLE HAS NO RUST AND HAS BEEN OTHERWISE A GOOD CAR, BUT NOW I UNDERSTAND THAT THESE RUSTED WELDS ARE NOT ONLY CAUSING RUST BUT THEY ARE A SAFETY CONCERN! *TR

ONE WEEK AFTER THE FORTH CLOCK WAS REPLACED THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN AT THE DEALER FOR SEVEN CONSECUTIVE WEEKS AND CONTINUED TO REMAIN FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
