THE HEADLIGHTS DON'T COME ON RIGHT-A-WAY. IT TAKES ABOUT 4-10 ATTEMPTS BEFORE THEY COME ON. A COUPLE OF TIMES THEY TURNED OFF A SECOND OR TWO AFTER A SUCCESSFUL ATTEMPT TO TURN THEM ON. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR THE PAST 2 MONTHS, BUT NOW IT HAS BECOME MORE FREQUENT TO THE POINT WHERE IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME WE NEED TO USE THE LIGHTS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE ON A CONSTANT BASIS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED BY A DEALER OR A MECHANIC FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 109,000.
2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY, BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES FOR A NOISE HEARD WHEN STEERING. DEALERSHIP TOLD US THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEMS. NOW, CAR IS MAKING A MUCH LOUDER NOISE AND WE ARE BEING TOLD THAT THE POWER STEERING RACK NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1300. AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE, IT IS A DEFINITE PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL YEAR AND A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED BY CHRYSLER AND THESE FAULTY STEERING COLUMNS SHOULD BE ACKNOWLEDGED AND REPLACED BY THEM. I HAVE THREE SMALL CHILDREN AND DO NOT HAVE $1300 TO PUT INTO THIS LEMON OF A CAR THAT CHRYSLER SHOULD HAVE FIXED WHEN I INITIALLY COMPLAINED ABOUT THE PROBLEM WHEN THE CAR WAS NEW. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY. TONIGHT AT 8:30 I TURNED THE LIGHT SWITCH ON AND STARTED OUT OF A PARKING LOT WHEN I REALIZED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS WERE NOT ON. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS OF FLIPPING THE LIGHT SWITCH ON AND OFF WITH NO SUCCESS, I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND TRIED SEVERAL MORE TIMES AND WAS FINALLY ABLE TO GET THE HEADLIGHTS TO TURN ON. 15 MINUTES LATER, WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD AT 40+MPH WITH 3 MONTH OLD TWIN GRANDBABIES AND TWO OLDER CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE, THE LIGHTS TURN OFF FOR AT LEAST 20 SECONDS OR MORE AND THEN RETURN BACK ON FOR EVEN LESS TIME, WHEN THEY RESUME TO TURNING OFF AGAIN SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE MAKING IT HOME. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM A USED DEALERSHIP IN SEPTEMBER OF 2010 WITH NO IDEA THAT THERE WERE SO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE HEADLIGHTS FAILING. THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED WITH THE INTENTION TO SAFELY CARRY MY TWIN GRANDCHILDREN AND IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED AND THE DEALERSHIP IS NOT BEING HELD ACCOUNTABLE. *TR
HEADLIGHTS SOMETIMES FAIL TO COME ON AND SOMETIMES FLICKER AND SOMETIMES GO OUT WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT. SUSPECT BAD LIGHT SWITCH. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE HEADLIGHTS SUDDENLY FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY BUT BECAME MORE FREQUENT OVER TIME. THERE WAS AN OPEN INVESTIGATION UNDER NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE10022 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS:HIGH/LOW BEAM DIMMER SWITCH EXTERIOR SWITCH) BUT NO RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WOULD HAVE TO BE PERFORMED. THE DIAGNOSTIC WAS NOT PERFORMED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
HEADLIGHTS MALFUNCTION AT RANDOM TIMES WHILE DRIVING THEY WILL TURN OFF, FLASH OR NOT EVEN TURN ON WHEN NEEDED. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR ALMOST A YEAR NOW, AND IS VERY UNSAFE FOR ME TO DRIVE WITH NO HEADLIGHTS. *TR
IT HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AT NIGHT WHEN DRIVING THE HEADLIGHTS TURNED OFF. PULLED OVER AND TRIED TO TURN THE SWITCH ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE IT TURNED BACK ON. THIS KEPT COMING BACK EVERY NOW AND THEN. SOME TIMES THE LIGHTS WILL QUIT WORKING FOR SEVERAL WEEKS AND THEN ONE DAY THEY WOULD JUST COME BACK ON, AND STAY ON FOR A FEW DAYS BEFORE IT STARTS ALL OVER AGAIN. REPLACED HEADLIGHT SWITCH AND HEADLIGHT BULBS, CLEAN ALL THE FUSES IN THE FUSE BOX, PROBLEM NOT SOLVED. THIS PROBLEM COMPROMISES THE SAFETY OF THE OCCUPANTS OF THIS VEHICLE AS WELL AS THE SAFETY OF OTHER ROAD USERS. *TR

AFTER FILLING GAS TANK FULL THE VAN STALLS. *TR
UPON FILLING UP THE GAS TANK OF MY 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY THE VAN WILL STALL OUT SHORTLY AFTER PULLING AWAY FROM THE GAS STATION. THIS HAPPENS MOST OF THE TIME AND THE VAN HAS 85K MILES ON IT. AFTER STALL, IT IS A HARD RESTART TO GET IT GOING AGAIN. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT FOUND NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V008000 (AIR BAGS: FRONTAL: SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE) WAS RELATED TO A CRACKED AIR BAG SENSOR. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND WOULD NOT BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
UPON FILLING UP WITH GASOLINE, ESPECIALLY WHEN FILLING UP COMPLETELY, THE ENGINE WILL CUT OUT SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING. IT CAN HAPPEN FROM 1/10 OF A MILE, UP TO 5 OR 6 MILES ON THE TRIPOMETER. THE PROBLEM STARTED OCCURRING WHEN THE VEHICLE REACHED ABOUT 75,000 MILES AND IS CONTINUING TO DO IT AT ABOUT 76,400 MILES. MAKES FOR A VERY DANGEROUS AND UNPREDICTABLE DRIVING SCENARIO EITHER IN OR OUT OF TRAFFIC OR WHEN MAKING TURNS (YES, IT HAS STALLED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE IN A TURN, FORTUNATELY, I WAS PREPARED). SINCE CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF IT AND IT IS NOT AN INEXPENSIVE REPAIR, IT SHOULD BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE COMPANY. IT CERTAINLY WILL BE IF I GET INTO AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF IT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE BOLTS THAT ATTACHED THE STEERING COLUMN TOGETHER WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,958.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO ADVISED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE SATELLITE SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INVOLVED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 07V192000 (AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE). THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 99,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS UNABLE TO UNLOCK THE DOORS USING THE KEY FOB. THE ONLY WAY TO ENTER THE VEHICLE WAS TO UNLOCK THE DOORS MANUALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
WHILE DRIVING MY HEADLIGHTS BEGAN TO FLICKER THEN WENT OUT HAD TO PULL OVER ,I FLIPPER THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH SEVERAL TIMES UNTIL HEADLIGHTS TURNED BACK ON. SINCE THEN I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH TURNING ON MY HEADLIGHTS HAVING TO FLIP THE SWITCH SEVERAL TIMES, THE LIGHTS WILL GO OUT WHILE DRIVING .I HAVE REPLACED THE HEADLIGHT BULBS ALONG WITH DASH BOARD LIGHTS AND I,M STILL HAVING PROBLEMS, IT'S LIKE THEY HAVE A MIND ALL THEIR OWN TO WHEN THEY TURN OFF AND ON. *TR

CHECKED OUT ONLINE AND FOUND A LOT OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS SO MY QUESTION IS WHEN IS CHRYSLER GOING TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE WITH THE RECALL. *TR

WHEN THE CONSUMER CONTACTED CHRYSLER HE WAS INFORMED HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, EVEN THOUGH HIS VEHICLE IS A 2005. *JB
PROBLEM STARTED 01/2011 AT APPROXIMATELY 100,000 MILES.VEHICLE STALLS AFTER FILLING GAS TANK. IF YOU FILL TANK AND PUMP SHUTS OFF THE VEHICLE WILL STALL AFTER A COUPLE MINUTES. DOESN'T HAPPEN ALL THE TIME BUT, ABOUT 85% OF THE TIME. IT STALLS ANYWHERE FROM 1-3 TIMES. IT HAS STALLED WHEN I WAS IN TRAFFIC DRIVING AND WHEN I SIT STATIONARY AND WAIT FOR IT TO HAPPEN BEFORE DRIVING. ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED ON A COUPLE OF OCCASIONS. HAD A REPAIR ON IT AT THE DEALER ON 03/17/2011. THEY REPLACED THE EVAP CANISTER. COPY ATTACHED. IT FIXED THE PROBLEM FOR ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF AND THEN IT CAME BACK. I'VE SEEN LOTS OF COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET FOR THE SAME ISSUE. I'VE READ THAT THE ONLY FIX IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FUEL TANK. I CAN'T AFFORD THAT. FOR YEARS NOW I'VE BEEN SITTING AT THE PUMP FOR 5 MINUTES AFTER FUELING OR I DON'T FILL THE TANK ALL THE WAY UP. THE STALLING IS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME WHEN STATIONARY, DRIVING AND TURNING. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN DRIVING IN TRAFFIC AND GOING THROUGH INTERSECTIONS. I WANT TO SELL MY CAR BUT, I'M AFRAID OF GETTING SUED IF THIS DEFECT CAUSES AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY INFORMATION FROM CHRYSLER FOR A RECALL. THEY REALLY NEED TO LOOK INTO THIS COMMON COMPLAINT. *TR
I ENTERED MY VEHICLE, STARTED THE CAR AND PROCEEDED TO TURN THE HEADLIGHTS ON. I NOTICED THERE WAS NO LIGHT EMANATING FROM EITHER HEADLIGHT. I TRIED SEVERAL TIMES BUT THE LIGHTS WOULD NOT TURN ON AND DARKNESS HAD ARRIVED. I DROVE THE CAR WITHOUT HEADLIGHTS TO THE NEAREST SERVICE STATION AND THEY INFORMED ME IT WAS A SWITCH LOCATED IN THE STEERING COLUMN THAT NEEDED REPLACING. I HAVE GOOGLED THIS ISSUE AND HAVE COME ACROSS MANY COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS PROBLEM.
2005 TOWN AND COUNTRY STEERING PROBLEM. PUMP IS LEAKING AND THE DEALERSHIP SAYS RACK NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. DEALERSHIP SAID THIS IS A KNOWN FAULTY ISSUE WITH THIS YEARS MODEL AND IT MUST BE DONE OR COULD LEAD TO A CRASH. *TR

DEALER SAID PROBLEM WAS BATTERY AND REPLACED BATTERY. (DID NOT FIX PROBLEM.) DEALER CLAIMS TO NEVER HAVE HEARD OF THE PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL SYSTEM/TANK. AM STARTING TO FIND OTHERS WITH SAME COMPLAINT. *TR
OWN A 2005 CHYRSLER TOWN & COUNTRY TOURING VAN, W/93K MILES. IN THE PAST 2 YEARS, THE POWER STEERING FAILS W/O WARNING WHEN THE VAN TRAVELS OVER WATER. THE DEALER THINKS IT'S A WEAK TENSION BAR ON A POWER BELT, BUT HE CAN'T BE CERTAIN. THE POWER STEERING LOSS LASTS ABOUT 15-30 SECONDS AND SEVERELY COMPROMISES MANEUVERABILITY AND CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. IT ALSO APPEARS TO SHORT OUT THE ALTERNATOR BECAUSE THE BATTERY WARNING LIGHT GOES ON. IS THERE ANYTHING IN YOUR DATA BASE ABOUT THIS? I CAN FIND NO RECALLS FOR THIS YEAR OR MODEL. *TR

VEHICLE HAS INTERMITTANT ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS, LIKE THE HEADLIGHTS GOING OFF FOR NO REASON WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT CAUSING A SAFETY ISSUE AND TAKES SEVERAL TRIES TO TURN ON THE HEADLIGHTS, THE POWER SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT OPEN EXCEPT MANUALLY, TURN SIGNALS FLASH BOTH DIRECTIONS, TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS BURN OUT SOONER THAN WOULD BE EXPECTED, WHEN FIRST STARTING THE VEHICLE, IT MAKES A WHINING NOISE UNTIL YOU ACCELERATE. ALL THESE ISSUES ARE INTERMITTANT. WE HAVE REPLACED THE STARTER, ALTERNATOR, BATTERY (2 TIMES) AND IT STILL EXHIBITS THESE ISSUES. NONE OF THE OLD PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SLIDING DOORS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE VEHICLE WERE DEFECTIVE AND WOULD REFUSE TO OPEN. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V046000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:FUSES AND CIRCUIT BREAKERS) BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE BOTH NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE. A LOCAL MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT A DEFECTIVE WIRE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 84,161.
LEAKING STEERING RACK CAUSING ABNORMAL GRINDING SOUNDS IN THE POWER STEERING RESERVOIR AND POTENTIALLY DAMAGING THE POWER STEERING PUMP. THIS LOW LEVEL OF POWER STEERING FLUID COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF ABILITY TO STEER THE VEHICLE EFFECTIVELY. *TR
THE FIRST TIME, ABOUT A HALF MILE AFTER A FILL-UP WHILE MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN, THE ENGINE DIED. RE-STARTED WITHOUT ANY OTHER PROBLEMS. MOST OF THE TIME WHEN THIS HAS HAPPENED IS WHEN MAKING A TURN BUT THERE HAS BEEN TIMES WHEN STOPPED IN TRAFFIC, THE ENGINE DIES. HAS ALWAYS RE-STARTED. THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A FAILURE IF THE TANK IS RE-FUELED TO APPROXIMATELY 7/8 FULL. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE BRAKE CALIPERS NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
WE ARE SEEING THE BLINKERS STOP WORKING, OR THE WRONG BLINKER ACTIVATED. PUSHING THE BLINKER SWITCH DOWN (LEFT) TURNS ON THE RIGHT BLINKER. SOMETIMES BLINKERS DO NOT WORK AT ALL. VAN IS NOW AT DEALER FOR MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH REPLACEMENT. FAILURE OCCURS INTERMITTENTLY--RECENTLY ABOUT TWICE A WEEK. WILL USUALLY ACT UP FOR THE WHOLE DAY THEN CORRECT ITSELF FOR A FEW DAYS. *TR
I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY HEADLIGHTS GOING OFF WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT OR NOT COMING ON WHEN I TURN ON THE SWITCH FOR GOING ON 3 YEARS. WHILE MY VAN WAS UNDER WARRANTY IT WAS TAKEN IN SPECIFICALLY FOR THIS REASON ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. IT IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY. IT CAN GO FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS WITHOUT A PROBLEM THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE LIGHTS GO OUT WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE. LUCKILY I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET THEM TO COME RIGHT BACK ON. BUT I HAVE HAD SEVERAL INSTANCES WHERE THE LIGHTS JUST WILL NOT COME ON WITHOUT TURNING THE SWITCH OFF AND ON SEVERAL TIMES. THIS IS REALLY GETTING OLD FAST. I BOUGHT THE VAN FOR IT'S STOW AND GO SEATING BUT I AM BEGINNING TO WONDER IF ALL THIS IS WORTH IT. *TR
I OWN A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY WHICH IVE PUT ABOUT 30,000 MILES ON GIVE OR TAKE. RECENTLY OVER THE PAST YEAR IVE EXPERIENCED ISSUES WITH THE POWER STEERING. MY BELT BROKE WHEN ARRIVING AT AN AIRPORT PARKING LOT, STRANDING MY VEHICLE WITH MY FATHER IN LAW. SINCE THEN IVE EXPERIENCED ISSUES WITH IT, NOISES, SLIPPAGE WHEN IT GETS WATER FROM PUDDLES ON IT, ETC. IVE LOOKED ONLINE FOR HELP AND FIND MANY SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THE BELT SLIPPAGE, AS WELL AS PROBLEMS WITH DEFECTIVE POWER STEERING PUMPS, RACK & PINION, ETC FOR THIS VEHICLE. CHRYSLER DOES NOT HAVE A RECALL ON IT NOR SEES IT AS A PROBLEM, DISREGARDING THE MANY PEOPLE WHO HAVE AND COMPLAIN OF THIS ISSUE. THIS IS A HIGHLY DANGEROUS ISSUE AS WHEN THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT OF YOUR VEHICLE YOU CANNOT TURN!! HAD THIS EVER HAPPENED TO ME, WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD I AM SURE THIS WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN INJURY TO US OR INNOCENT BYSTANDERS. THIS NEEDS TO BE LOOKED AT AND ADDRESSED. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IF IT IS MY PUMP IM LOOKING AT A COST OF OVER $700, IF IT IS MY RACK AND PINION OVER $1400, THE BELT REPLACEMENT COST ME $200. AND ACCORDING TO OTHERS, EVEN WHEN ITS FIXED THEY STILL HAVE PROBLEMS! I NOW AVOID DRIVING IN THE RAIN FOR FEAR I WILL LOSE CONTROL WITHOUT STEERING, WHICH IS HARD AS OUR CAR IS THE ONLY ONE IN OUR HOUSEHOLD AND I COMMUTE MY HUSBAND TO AND FROM WORK, AS WELL AS MY DAUGHTER TO AND FROM SCHOOL, ALL THE WHILE WITH A 4YR OLD IN THE BACK SEAT. *TR
IT FIRST STARTED BY FAILING TO TURN ON AFTER A FEW TIMES OF TRYING TO TURN ON THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH. IT THEN PROGRESSED BY TURNING OFF WHILE DRIVING IN THE CITY. IT WORKED FOR A FEW MONTHS WITHOUT INCIDENT UNTIL 2 MONTHS AGO. AFTER A COLD START THE LIGHTS WOULD COME ON BUT AFTER DRIVING IT TO THE STORE ABOUT 3-4 MILES AWAY AND RESTARTING THE CAR IT HAS FAILED REPEATEDLY. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. I'VE HAD TO DRIVE HOME BY MANUALLY HOLDING THE HIGH BEAMS ON TO GET HOME. THERE WAS ALMOST AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THIS PROBLEM.
2005 TOWN AND COUNTRY DOOR FAILED TO OPEN MORE THAN 6 INCHES USING REMOTE OPENING. THIS MAY PREVENT SAFE EGRESS FROM VEHICLE IN AN EMERGENCY. THIS SEEM TO BE A KNOWN COMMON PROBLEM WITH VEHICLE TYPE, BUT NO ACTION FROM NHTSA HAS BEEN TAKEN. *TR
2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY POWER DOOR LOCKS INOPERATIVE. THE POWER LOCKS HAVE STOPPED WORKING AT DIFFERENT INTERVALS. PULLING THE 20A IOD FUSE AND REINSERTING IT AFTER 10 MINUTES OR PULLING THE CABLE OFF OF THE BATTERY FOR 10 MINUTES HAS FIXED THE PROBLEM SO FAR. THIS STARTING HAPPENING WHEN THE VAN HAD APPROXIMATELY 48,000 MILES. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AND AFTER SEEING A MANUFACTURER'S RECALL ON THE NEWS FOR OTHER CHRYSLER VEHICLES, HE FELT HIS VEHICLE WAS ALSO UNSAFE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS BUT NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. ..UPDATED 08-07-13 *BF
MY HUSBAND WAS T-BONED IN OUR 05 TOWN AND COUNTRY LIMITED BY A TRUCK CARRYING A DOUBLE LONG HORSE TRAILER RUNNING A RED LIGHT. THE IMPACT HIT RIGHT AT THE SLIDING DOOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THE GLASS ON THE SLIDING DOOR AND REAR SEATS WERE KNOCKED OUT. THE METAL FROM THE VAN CAME IN AND FORMED AROUND THE EDGES OF MY 2 YEAR OLD'S CARSEAT. NO SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. CHRYSLER SENT SOMEONE OUT TO INVESTIGATE AND SAID THAT THE AIRBAGS WERE "FOUND FULLY FUNCTIONAL" AND THAT THE IMPACT WAS NOT GREAT ENOUGH TO CAUSE THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY. THE ACCIDENT TOTALED OUT OUR VEHICLE AND WE FEEL VERY STRONGLY THAT THE AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. HAD MY DAUGHTER NOT BEEN IN HER CARSEAT CORRECTLY, SHE WOULD HAVE GOTTEN CRUSHED BY THE METAL OF THE VAN SLAMMING INTO HER BODY. I JUST HAD OUR FAULTY AIRBAG SENSOR LIGHT FIXED IN JUNE 2010 (WHICH WAS STAYING ILLUMINATED AT ALL TIMES) AND WONDER IF THE SIDE AIRBAGS ALSO WEREN'T FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY. MY HUSBAND AND DAUGHTER WERE SLIGHTLY INJURED BUT IT COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER HAD THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. MILEAGE AT TIME OF ACCIDENT AND TOTAL LOSS - 55,990. *TR
EXHAUST CLAMP FAILURE OR DEFECT UNDER THE CABIN ALLOWS HOT EXHAUST GASES TO SPRAY ONTO FUEL LINES AND POTENTIALLY ALLOW HARMFUL GASES INTO THE VAN CABIN. *TR
2005 TOWN AND COUNTRY STALLS AFTER FILLING UP WITH GAS. INITIALLY PROBLEM WAS INFREQUENT AND WOULD HAPPEN ONCE EVERY FEW MONTHS. NOW IT HAPPENS AFTER EVERY FILL UP. PROBLEM HAS TO DO WITH THE EVAP SYSTEM AND THE ENGINE TAKING IN GAS INSTEAD OF VAPORS THRU THE SYSTEM. THIS IS VERY HARD TO DIAGNOSE, AND I IMAGINE MOST SHOPS DIAGNOSE IT IMPROPERLY SINCE IT WOULD BE HARD TO REPRODUCE. THE STALLING DOES NOT PRODUCE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR ANY CODE VISIBLE USING A GENERIC OBD2 CODE SCANNER OR THE CHRYSLER DRB3 DIAGNOSTICS SYSTEM. I ALSO IMAGINE MOST OWNERS DON'T LINK THE STALLING TO FILLING UP WITH GAS, IT TOOK ME SEVERAL MONTHS TO FIGURE THAT OUT. STALLING HAPPENS WITHIN 40 MILES OF A TANK FILL UP. I SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND FOUND DOZENS OF OTHER PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM. THE REPAIR IS A WHOLE NEW GAS TANK WITH AN AVERAGE REPAIR COST OF APPROX $800. IT'S A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM, THE VAN HAS STALLED WITH MY WIFE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY SEVERAL TIMES WHILE TAKING MY CHILDREN PLACES. *TR

OIL CHANGE EVERY 3000 MILES, ALL MAINTENANCE AS SCHEDULED IN OWNER'S MANUAL. FOR AT LEAST THE PAST 3 YEARS, VAN USUALLY STALLS WITHIN 1/2 MILE OF GAS STATION AFTER A FILL-UP. USUALLY STARTS BACK AND IDLES ROUGH FOR 30-45 SECONDS BEFORE CLEARING UP. DEALER SAID THEY FIXED IT WHILE UNDER WARRANTY WITH SOFTWARE UPDATE; DID NOT LAST. THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH SEVERAL OWNERS. LOCAL REPAIR SHOP SAID THEY WERE FAMILIAR WITH PROBLEM; REQUIRED FUEL TANK AND SENSOR TO BE REPLACED FOR SEVERAL HUNDRED $$$. SEEMS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPAIRED BY CHRYSLER. PROBLEM NOW OCCURS WITH EVERY FILL-UP. *TR
I BOUGHT A USED 2005 CHRYSLER MINIVAN TOWN & COUNTRY AND YESTERDAY I WAS NEARLY KILLED BY A TIRE EXPLOSION THAT NEARLY CAUSED A REAR END COLLISION ON THE LA FREEWAY. IT WAS A FIRESTONE FR690. NO TREAD WEAR AT ALL. WHEN I CALLED FIRESTONE TO SEE IF THEY HAD BEEN RECALLED I WAS TOLD NO. WHEN I GOT BACK TO THE HOUSE I GOOGLED AND FOUND THAT INDEED THEY HAVE BEEN BUT ONLY THE FR690 215-65-15'S NOT THE 16'S THAT I HAVE ON MY VAN. THE DESCRIPTION OF WHAT HAPPENS TO THE 15'S AND THE SOUND IT MAKES WHEN COMING APART IS IDENTICAL TO WHAT HAPPENED TO ME. I NEED TO REPORT THIS AS I HAVE TO REPLACE ALL FOUR TIRES NOW ON THIS VAN AT A COST OF ALMOST 600.00 FOR NEW TIRES WHEN THE TIRES ON THERE ARE NEW. *TR
FOR AT LEAST SIX MONTHS, WE HAVE HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE AIRBAG SENSOR COMING ON IN OUR VEHICLE. THIS CONCERNS US THAT OUR AIR BAG MAY NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY IN THE EVENT OF A COLLISION. WE CHECKED THE RECALL LIST AND FOUND THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR OUR TYPE OF VEHICLE, BUT FOR THOSE MANUFACTURED A FEW MONTHS AFTER OURS. I FEEL THE SAME PROBLEM PROBABLY EXISTS IN OUR CAR AND SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I ALSO FEAR THAT IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE RECALL SAYS IT IS CHRYSLER'S CAMPAIGN NUMBER J38. *TR
MY 2005 TOWN & COUNTRY HAS BEEN LEAKING POWER STEERING FLUID FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS. A MECHANIC JUST TOLD ME THAT THE RACK & PINION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, ESTIMATE OF $1000. MY VAN HAS 67,000 MILES ON IT, BUT THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS. MY CAR WAS AT THE DEALER A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO, AND THEY TOLD ME THEY ADDED POWER STEERING FLUID, BUT NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. OF COURSE, AT THAT TIME, IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. MAKES ME FEEL LIKE I WAS DECEIVED. MY MECHANIC SAID THIS HAPPENS OFTEN WITH THIS VAN. WHY HASN'T THIS BEEN RECALLED YET? THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS WOULD FUNCTION AS NORMAL, ALTHOUGH TEMPORARILY WHENEVER RESETTING THE FUSE BOX. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
