WE HAVE A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY. WITHIN THE PAST COUPLE YEARS, THIS CAR HAS STALLED EVERY COUPLE MONTHS. IT ALWAYS HAPPENS WITHIN MINUTES OF FILLING THE GAS TANK. AFTER PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC, THE CAR WILL STALL AND JUST SHUT DOWN. SOMETIMES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON. WE TURN OFF THE CAR AND RESTART IT, AND IT SEEMS TO RUN FINE AFTER THAT. WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER/MECHANIC 3 TIMES FOR THEM TO CHECK THIS PROBLEM, BUT THEY ALWAYS TELL US THEY CAN NOT DUPLICATE IT SO THEY DO NOW KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. RECENTLY, AT 72,000 MILES, WE REPLACED THE EGR VALVE, AND HOPED THAT THIS MIGHT FIX THE PROBLEM. BUT SEVERAL DAYS LATER, THE CAR STALLED AGAIN. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE SOLVED BY CHRYSLER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 07V192000 (AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE) BUT ADVISED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 74,935.
2005 CHRYSLER TOWN*COUNTRY. CONSUMER STATES FRAUDULENT AND INACCURATE SALE OF VEHICLE *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE HAD A DEAD BATTERY, BECAUSE THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE AIR CONDITIONER PULLEY, COMPRESSOR, LEFT HUB ASSEMBLY BEARING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS WELL. *JB
TPMS. TIRE PRESSURE SENSORS ARE REQUIRED ON ALL NEW VEHICLES NOW TO "HELP AID IN SAFETY?" PROBLEM IS LIKE ON MY 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY, THE SENSORS ARE MADE WITH A WATCH BATTERY AS THE SENSOR POWER SOURCE. THIS IS FINE IF THE CONSUMER CAN REPLACE THESE WATCH BATTERIES OR HAVE THE WATCH BATTERIES REPLACED WHEN THEY ARE DEAD, BUT, "BUT" CHRYSLER HAS MADE THE SENSORS IN SUCH A WAY THAT THE SENSOR IS COMPLETELY DESTROYED BY TRYING TO CHANGE THE BATTERIES. ONE MUST REPLACE THE ENTIRE SENSOR WHEN THE WATCH BATTERIES ARE DEAD. THE COST FOR REPLACING (4) SENSORS EVERY (3) TO(4) YEARS IS EXTREMELY OVERPRICED. SO TO CONCLUDE MY COMPLAINT, THE INTENT OF SAFETY IS NOT WHAT IS GOING ON HERE WITH THE CAR MANUFACTURERS, BUT A NEW OPPORTUNITY FOR PROFIT. SEE, WHAT THIS HAS NOW CAUSED IS THAT SINCE THE COST IS SO HIGH TO REPLACE THE SENSORS WHEN THE CONSUMER SHOULD BE ABLE TO CHANGE A SMALL BATTERY FOR POCKET CHANGE, THE CONSUMER WILL JUST LET THE WARNING LIGHT SHINE AND NOT REPLACE THE EXPENSIVE SENSORS WHEN A WATCH BATTERY IS DEAD. THAT'S WHAT I AM DOING. I CAN'T BE ALONE. SAFETY? ONLY FOR THE 1ST 3 YEARS OR SO....AFTER THAT? SAME AS IT USE TO BE WITH NO SENSORS. *TR
THIS SUMMER, MY '05 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY'S HEADLIGHTS DO NOT CONSISTENTLY TURN ON. I HAVE TURNED ON AND OFF THE SWITCH AS MANY AS 37 TIMES BEFORE COMING ON. I HAVE ASKED FOR THEM TO BE CHECKED WHEN GETTING MY OIL CHANGED, THEY FOUND NO PROBLEM AND SAID THEY WORKED FINE. AFTER READING THAT OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WITHOUT THE PROBLEM BEING FIXED, I HAVE NOT TRIED THAT ROUTE. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER DOOR LOCKS FAILED. HE WAS ABLE TO TEMPORARILY REPAIR THE LOCKS BY DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY CABLE BEFORE DRIVING THE VEHICLE EACH DAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THEY COULD NOT GUARANTEE THE REPAIR WOULD CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
HEADLIGHT SWITCH WORKS INTERMITTENTLY. TAKEN TO DEALER & THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. FRONT WIPERS COLLIDE AT HIGH SPEED. REAR WIPER DOES NOT MAKE FULL CONTACT , NO REAR WINDOW VISIBILITY IN RAIN OR SNOW. *TR
THE HEADLIGHTS HAVE SUDDENLY GONE OFF ON SEVERAL INSTANCES, WITH NO APPARENT PATTERN. JIGGLING THE SWITCH WORKS SOMETIMES. ON OTHERS, I HAVE TO DRIVE HOME PULLING BACK ON THE HIGH BEAM SWITCH, WHICH IS NONE TOO POPULAR WITH FELLOW MOTORISTS. OVERALL, THIS HAS HAPPENED 10 TO 15 TIMES. EVEN IF I TURN THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTART THIS DOES NOT NECESSARILY SOLVE THE ISSUE. I LIVE IN AN AREA WITH ROADS THAT FLOOD AND OFTEN HAVE NO SHOULDERS. SEVERAL CLOSE CALLS HAVE RESULTED WHILE DRIVING HOME IN THE RAIN AND SUDDENLY LOSING THE LIGHTS. YOUR ASSISTANCE WOULD BE APPRECIATED. *TR
1. CAR WILL BE RUNNING, AND WHILE DRIVING, THE DASHBOARD GAUGES WILL STOP WORKING OR JUMP AROUND ERRATICALLY (SPEEDOMETER,RPM). DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS WILL TURN ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY . HEADLIGHTS TURN ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY, POWER DOORS OR LOCKS DO NOT WORK WHEN TRYING TO ENTER OR EXIT THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE WILL NOT START, WILL START 20 MINUTES LATER WHEN YOU TRY AGAIN. 2. PROBLEM HAPPENS IN INTERMITTENTLY. DRIVE A SHORT DISTANCE AND TURN THE CAR OFF (GAS STATION). WHEN YOU TRY TO START AGAIN, IT WON'T START. SOMETIMES IT WILL BE A FEW DAYS BETWEEN PROBLEMS,OTHER TIMES IT IS EVERY TIME THE CAR STARTS THE GAUGES WILL GO HAYWIRE. THERE ARE DIFFERENT WARNING LIGHTS THAT COME ON EACH TIME> YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT IS OR ISN'T WORKING. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR A FEW WEEKS NOW. 3. TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO GET CHECKED OUT. *TR
MY HEADLIGHTS WILL JUST SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ON MY 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY. THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH DOES NOT ALWAYS TURN ON THE HEADLIGHT BUT SOMETIMES ONLY THE PARKING LIGHTS.. I AM GOING TO GET IT REPAIRED THIS WEEK, BUT ITS STILL A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION . THE BLOGS TELL OF MANY OTHERS WITH THIS PROBLEM. *TR
2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY MINI VAN HAVING TO HAVE STEERING COLUMN REPLACED ON IT AFTER RECENT PURCHASE DEALER WILL NOT FIX KNOWING THE PROBLEM EXIST. FRAUDULENTLY SOLD THE CAR KNOWING THE PROBLEM AND NOT DISCLOSING IT TO ME. STARTED AFTER ONE MONTH AFTER PURCHASE AND KEY WAS STUCK IN IGNITION. SEEMS TO BE A COMMON AND VERY HIGHLY COMPLAINED ABOUT PROBLEM. I TRADED A PERFECTLY WORKING NOT ONE THING WRONG CAR FOR THIS ONE THAT THE DEALER MADE A HUGE PROFIT ON AND FRAUDULENTLY LIED ABOUT ANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS. REPLACEMENT IS STATED AT 1300 DOLLARS AFTER ONE MONTH OF OWNERSHIP. CHRYSLER SHOULD FIX THIS KNOWN DEFECT AND THE DEALER SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED FOR FRAUD. *TR
REAR A/C EVAPORATOR LEAK ON TWO CHRYSLERS THAT I OWN. 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY & 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. CHRYSLER EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR THESE PART IN ALL 2006 AND 2007 MINIVANS. THEY SHOULD HAVE INCLUDED 2005 IN THE RECALL. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL OF THE DOOR LOCKS STOPPED WORKING. THE CONTACT WAS ONLY ABLE TO OPEN THE DOORS WITH THE KEY OR FROM INSIDE WITH THE HANDLE. THE DEALER HAD NOT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, BUT THE CONTACT WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THIS WAS A CONSTANT PROBLEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 114000. THE RED LIGHT ON THE DASH PANEL COMES ON WHILE THE ENGINE IS ON. THIS HAPPENS WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION OR STATIONERY. IF FREQUENTLY GOES OUT AFTER A FEW MINUTES. THERE HAS BEEN NO FRONTAL IMPACT WITH THIS VEHICLE. APPROXIMATE MILEAGE WHEN IT BEGAN WAS 85000; PRESENT MILEAGE IS 91000. DEALER DID NOT DIAGNOSE ANY PROBLEM. PROBLEM OCCURS ALMOST EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN BUT DOES NOT LAST MORE THAN A FEW MILES. *TR
I AM EXPERIENCING AT 80K MILES ON MY TOWN AND COUNTRY, FAULTY REAR DOOR LOCKS. I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS ISSUE SECONDARY TO HAVING TWO SMALL CHILDREN. THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS NO LONGER WORK. I FEAR THAT MY CHILDREN WILL OPEN THE DOORS WHILE THE CAR IS IN DRIVE. THIS IS NOT ONLY A HUGE INCONVENIENCE OF CRAWLING THROUGH THE VEHICLE TO LOCK AND UNLOCK DOORS, BUT I AM MAJORLY CONCERNED OF MY CHILDREN'S SAFETY. *TR
POWER LOCKS CONTINUE TO FAIL. PULL IOD FUSE TO TEMPORARILY FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT IT RESURFACES WITHIN A FEW DAYS. *TR
THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT OFTEN COMES ON MY 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHEN THIS HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME, AND THEY REPLACED THE WIRING HARNESS FOR THE AIRBAG, BUT THE PROBLEM STILL OCCURS. ALSO, THE HEADLAMPS OFTEN FAIL TO TURN ON WHEN THE SWITCH IS TURNED. TURNING THE SWITCH ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES USUALLY SOLVES THE PROBLEM, BUT LATELY IT SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE. *TR
POWER STEERING PUMP IS MAKING A LOUD WHINING NOISE. STARTED OCCURRING IN THE COLDER MONTHS JUST WHEN THE CAR WAS STARTED AND THE WHEEL WAS TURNED. NOW A CONSTANT NOISE. NEED TO REPLACE PUMP BEFORE IT GOES OUT AND CRACKS MANTLE. *TR
I HAD TO HAVE THE CLOCK SPRING REPLACED ON MY 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY VAN. THIS SAME PART WAS THE SUBJECT OF A RECALL IN 1999-2002. IT SEEMS THEY STILL DON'T HAVE IT RIGHT. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT CHRYSLER DID NOT COVER THE REPAIR. IT CONTROLS THE AIRBAG! CAN YOU HELP? WE HAVE PREVIOUSLY HAD TROUBLE WITH THE 'SEAT BELT LIGHT' COMING ON THE DASH. THE SEAT BELT RETAINER WAS SUPOSEDLY REPLACED BY PETTYJOHN IN BETHANY, MO. SOMETIME I THINK IN EARLY 2007. AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON THE DASH CONTINUALLY, NOW DAYS. SUMMER OF 2010 I CONTACTED CHRYSLER. THEY TOLD ME TO HAVE MY LOCAL DEALER ( BARNES BAKER , TRENTON, MO. RUN SOME DIANOSTIC TESTS, WHICH I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR.. I DID HAVE THEM RUN BUT CHRYSLER WAVED THEY CHARGE. THE 'AIRBAG LIGHT' WAS TURNED OFF , I BELIEVE BY TECNICIAN RUNNING DAIGNOSTICS. THE 'AIR BAG' LIGHT STAYED OUT FOR A SHORT WHILE AFTER THE DIAGNOSTICS WAS RUN. THE CHRYSLER REPRESENTATIVE TOLD ME BY PHONE THAT CHRYSLER WAS NOT GOING TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. FOR QUITE SOMETIME AFTERWARDS THE 'AIRBAG LIGHT' WAS INTERMITTANT, NOW SINCE WINTER OF 2010/2011 IT STAYS ON CONTINUALLY. *TR
HEADLIGHTS WON'T TURN ON WHEN HEADLIGHT SWITCH IS TURNED ON. FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE, IT APPEARS THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ON, BUT IF YOU LOOK AT THE HEADLIGHTS THEY ARE NOT ILLUMINATED. TO MAKE SURE THE LIGHTS ARE ON, THE VEHICLE HAS TO BE STARTED, THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH TURNED ON, AND THE DRIVER OR PASSENGER MUST GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE TO VISUALLY CHECK IF THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ON. IF THEY AREN'T, THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH MUST BE TURNED ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THE LIGHTS WILL WORK. THE HEADLIGHT FAILURE OCCURS ABOUT EVERY OTHER TIME THE HEADLIGHTS ARE REQUIRED. THE DEALERSHIP REPROGRAMMED THE BCM, BUT THAT DID NOT HELP AND THEY CAN'T FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. *TR
HEADLIGHTS ON 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY SHUT OFF INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING. ALSO, THE LIGHTS TAKE 6 OR MORE TRIES IN THE MORNING TO COME ON. I HAVE HAD ABOUT 4 MORNINGS IN THE LAST 6 OR 7 DAYS WHERE THEY WILL NOT COME ON INITIALLY. IT IS BECOMING A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT THEY WILL SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AND WILL NOT COME ON IN THE EARLY MORNINGS. I HAVE 2 SMALL CHILDREN AND GOT THIS VAN TO KEEP THEM SAFE, NOT PUT THEM IN HARMS WAY...... PLEASE HELP. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 25 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VEER TO THE RIGHT WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE AND PROCEEDED TO CRASH INTO THREE MAILBOXES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT THE LOWER CONTROL ARM HAD FRACTURED. THERE WAS ALSO OTHER UNKNOWN BODY AND SUSPENSION FAILURE AS A RESULT OF THE CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 82,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE STEERING COLUMN MADE A LOUD WHINING SOUND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS COMMON BUT THERE WAS NO REMEDY FOR IT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000.
HEADLIGHTS FAIL INTERMITTENTLY - NO APPARENT CORRELATION TO TEMPERATURE, HUMIDITY, ETC. OCCURS EVERY SEVERAL WEEKS; LOW-BEAMS AND "LOCKING" OF HIGH-BEAMS FAIL....CAN ONLY MAKE EMERGENCY TRAVEL UPON FAILURE AT NIGHT BY HOLDING SWITCH ASSEMBLY TO PASSING BEAMS. SUGGESTS BCM VERSUS ELECTRO-MECHANICAL SWITCH FAILURE. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS; PURSUANT TO NHTSA PE10-022. *TR
WHEN RAINING OR DRIVING THROUGH A SMALL PUDDLE, THE POWER STEERING LOCKS UP AND I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER VEHICLE. THIS MAY LAST UP TO 30 SECONDS BEFORE RETURNING TO NORMAL. VERY DANGEROUS! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH OVER A RAIL ROAD TRACK, THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE COIL SPRING FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE COIL SPRING WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,060 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 55,150. THE CONSUMER STATED SHE NO LONGER OWNS THE VEHICLE UPDATED 11/01/10*JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STARTED THE IGNITION AND THE "AIR BAG" WARNING LIGHT INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE FAILURE WAS A PERMANENT OCCURRENCE. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THERE WERE TWO DIFFERENT RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBERS 07V192000 AND 10V008000 (AIR BAGS: FRONTAL: SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE). THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM BOTH RECALL DEFECTS. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR WAS THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
IN ORDER TO CONTINUE DRIVING MY CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY LX, I WILL HAVE TO PAY CLOSE TO 1000.00 TO HAVE THE STEERING RACK REPLACED. IF I DO NOT GET THIS EXPENSIVE REPAIR, I RISK HAVING NO POWER STEERING WHILE I AM DRIVING MYSELF OR MY FAMILY AROUND. THIS COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS IF I AM ON THE HIGHWAY AND SUDDENLY HAVE TO ADJUST MY SPEED OR POSITION WHEN THERE ARE OTHER CARS TRAVELING AT HIGH SPEEDS. I WENT ONLINE TO RESEARCH THIS PROBLEM. WHAT I FOUND IS THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THE 2005 AND 2006 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY VEHICLES. THERE ARE MANY OTHER CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE HAD TO HAVE THIS PART REPLACED IN THEIR VEHICLES. THEREFORE, IT IS A DEFECT WITH THE CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY AND NOT A CONDITION OF NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. I MADE A REQUEST TO CHRYSLER TO HELP WITH THE REPAIR AND MY REQUEST WAS DENIED. PLEASE FORCE CHRYSLER TO OWN UP TO AND REIMBURSE THEIR CUSTOMERS FOR THIS DEFECT. THIS MONEY IS COMING FROM MY MUCH NEEDED VACATION FUND. MY HUSBAND IS DEPLOYED AND MY THREE CHILDREN AND I WERE LOOKING FOR A CHANCE TO VACATION NEAR FAMILY THIS SUMMER. INSTEAD WE WILL BE SPENDING IT ALONE BECAUSE I HAVE HAD TO PUT MY MONEY INTO A POORLY DESIGNED VEHICLE. PLEASE MAKE THEM RECALL THIS PART. THANK YOU. *TR

IF I DO NOT GET THIS EXPENSIVE REPAIR, I RISK HAVING NO POWER STEERING WHILE I AM DRIVING MYSELF OR MY FAMILY AROUND. WHAT I FOUND IS THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THE 2005 AND 2006 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY VEHICLES. THERE ARE MANY OTHER CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE HAD TO HAVE THIS PART REPLACED IN THEIR VEHICLES. THEREFORE, IT IS A DEFECT WITH THE CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY AND NOT A CONDITION OF NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. I MADE A REQUEST TO CHRYSLER TO HELP WITH THE REPAIR AND MY REQUEST WAS DENIED. PLEASE FORCE CHRYSLER TO OWN UP TO AND REIMBURSE THEIR CUSTOMERS FOR THIS DEFECT. THIS MONEY IS COMING FROM MY MUCH NEEDED VACATION FUND.
