AFTER GREEN LIGHT, I MADE THE RIGHT TURN FROM A SMALL ROAD TO MAIN ROAD. WHEN THE CAR WAS HALF WAY INTO THE MAIN ROAD (ABOUT 45 DEGREE), THE ENGINE JUST DEAD, AND A LOT OF SYMBOLS LIGHTED UP ON THE PANEL. I HAVE TO COMPLETELY TURN THE KEY TO OFF POSITION, AND RE-IGNITE THE CAR. WHEN THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED, THERE IS NOTHING ATTACHED TO THE KEY. ONLY CAR KEY ITSELF WAS INSIDE THE IGNITION HOLE. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER A FEW MONTH BACK, REPORTED THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENED TWICE WHILE I CALLED THEM LAST TIME. THEY TOLD US THEY WERE AWARE THIS ISSUE AND WERE REVIEWING IT, AND SUGGESTED US TO REMOVE ALL OTHER KEYS FROM KEY CHAIN. THIS TIME I'M JUST REPORTING THE INCIDENT ON THE GOVERNMENT WEBSITE, SO OTHERS CAN SEE AND HOPEFUL CHRYSLER WILL RECALL THE CAR FOR THIS ISSUE. *TR
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WITHIN THE PAST 2 YEARS OUR VAN HAS STALLED WITHIN 1-2 MILES OF LEAVING A GAS STATION. ON EACH OF THOSE OCCURRENCES THE AUTO SHUTOFF FUNCTION OF THE GAS PUMP WAS USED TO TERMINATED FUELING. ON ONE SPECIFIC OCCASION THE VAN STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. IF IT HAD BEEN RUSH HOUR IT WOULD HAVE PRESENTED A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE FOR EVERYONE AROUND. ON OTHER OCCASIONS WHEN MANUALLY TERMINATING FUELING THE VAN HAS STALLED. THE PROBLEM APPARENTLY OCCURS AT A CERTAIN LEVEL IN THE TANK WHEN IT IS APPROACHING FULL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS HE NOTICED A BUCKING FEELING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED HIM THAT HE NEEDED TO REPLACE THE INPUT AND OUTPUT CONTROL MODULES. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 94,000. UPDATED 12/20/11*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER GETTING THE VEHICLE BACK, HE CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION GOING INTO NEUTRAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR FACILITY WHERE A NEW TORQUE CONVERTER WAS INSTALLED. UPDATED 12/23/11
VEHICLE HAS A SHUDDERING EFFECT WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 38-55 MPH. THE TRANS-AXLE HAS BEEN REBUILT MULTIPLE TIMES AND LASTS APPRX. 12000 MILES AND THEN HAS TO BE REBUILT AGAIN. AS THE MILES PROGRESS UP FROM THE REBUILD THE SHUDDERING INCREASES AND THE VEHICLE BECOMES A DANGER TO DRIVE. CHRYSLER POSITION IS THAT THEY FIXED THE ISSUE AND IT IS OUR PROBLEM. WE ARE CURRENTLY INVOLVED IN A WARRANTY SUIT AGAINST CHRYSLER, OUR ATTORNEY IS KROHN & MOSS. THE CASE IS SCHEDULED FOR TRIAL IN FEB. 2013. *TR
MY 2007 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY IS HAVING A TRANSMISSION FAILURE PROBLEM. WITHOUT WARNING MY VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION WILL SLIP THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON AND THE VEHICLE WILL NO LONGER SHIFT INTO IT'S THIRD RANGE. EVEN AFTER I SHUT OFF MY VEHICLE AND RESTART IT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL REMAIN ON AND THE COMPUTER CODES ALL SET HARD. ONCE TAKEN TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP EVERYTHING CAN BE RESET WITH THE MECHANIC RESETTING THE COMPUTER CODES. AT THIS POINT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES OFF AND THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS PROPERLY. I HAVE BEEN ADVISED BY A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED UNDER THEIR POWERTRAIN WARRANTY AND THEY HAVE NOT HAD ANY OTHER REPORTED EVENTS SUCH AS MINE. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 35,000 MILES ON IT AND I DON'T FEEL THAT THIS IS A USUAL FAILURE. SOMETHING HAS TO BE WRONG WITH THE WAY THE TRANSMISSION WAS BUILT. *TR
2007 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. CONSUMER STATES THAT HE IS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM (TPMS). THE LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE AT ANY TIME EVEN WHEN THE TIRES HAD PROPER AIR. HE STATES HE HAS TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES. *KB THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED A COUPLE OF TIMES, AS WELL AS THE TORQUE CONVERTER. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING 45 MPH OR OVER THE VEHICLE SHUTTERS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AND THE FLASH ALSO HAD TO BE RESET. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE SHUTTERING STARTED AFTER A CV JOINT WAS REPLACED BY A LOCAL MECHANIC. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 48,000.
NEED TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT AT 53,000 MILES ON OUR 2007 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY. TRANSMISSION SHOULD NOT GO AFTER 53,000 MILES . I COULD UNDERSTAND IF I HAD 100,000 MILES OR MORE. JUST CHEAP MATERIALS USED TO SAVE MONEY, THE METAL SHAVINGS WERE FOUND WHEN WE HAD THE TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGED BEFORE WE TOOK A LONG TRIP OUT OF THE COUNTRY, TO CANADA. THE REPAIR SHOP NOTICE A PROBLEM AND WARNED US TO NOT WAIT TO LONG TO FIX THE PROBLEM. UPON FIXING THE TRANSMISSION THEY ALSO FOUND PIECES OF METAL FROM POSSIBLY THE GEARS WERE BREAKING UP OR THE HOUSING THAT HOLDS THE NEEDLE BEARINGS CRACKED AND WAS ADDING TO THE PROBLEM. WE CONTACTED CHRYSLER CORP. ABOUT THE PROBLEM , BUT ALL THEY WOULD DO IS, NOTHING, BECAUSE WE DID NOT PURCHASE A EXTENDED WARRANTY. THEIR WARRANTY WEB SITE STATED THAT 2007 MODELS PURCHASED AFTER JULY OF 2007, THAT THEY WERE GIVING A LIFETIME WARRANTY ON THE POWER TRAIN. SOUNDS TO ME , THEY EITHER FOUND OUT ABOUT THE PROBLEM , OR SOME OTHER REASON. NEVERTHELESS, THE MATERIAL USE WAS INADEQUATE, PROCESSES SUCH AS HARDENING OF THE GEARS, WERE WRONG, BUT YET PASSED INSPECTION. I COULD HAVE BEEN IN SERIOUS ACCIDENT IF THE METAL SHAVINGS, OR METAL PIECES GOT IN BETWEEN THE TEETH OF THE GEAR TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. IT COST ME ABOUT $3,500.00 TO FIX THE TRANSMISSION. I SENT A LETTER TO CHRYSLER CORP. EXPLAINING THE PROBLEM, WITH COPIES OF THE REPAIR WORK DONE PLUS RENTAL CAR THAT WAS NEEDED FOR A WEEK. SOME MY HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY SO, THEY DID NOT COMPLAIN. I FELL CHRYSLER SHOULD REIMBURSE ME FOR THIS. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY VAN WITH 20,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE HAD THE FOLLOWING TRANSMISSIONS PROBLEMS WITH IT. TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WITH 2007 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY VAN. I HAVE HAD IT TO THE DEALER THREE TIME SO FAR FOR ERRATIC SHIFTING AND HAD SHIFTING AT LOW SPEEDS AND OTHER TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. AFTER THE LAST TIME I HAD IT IN AND THE TECH FLASHED THE TRANSMISSION MODULE IT TOOK ABOUT A MONTH OF IN-TOWN DRIVING UNTIL IT STARTED DOING THE SAME THING AS BEFORE. ALONG WITH THIS THE FOLLOWING THINGS HAVE STARTED TO HAPPEN: 1. LOUD NOISE AND JERK WHILE MOVING VEHICLE FROM PARK TO DRIVE OR REVERSE. 2. LOW SPEED UP AND DOWN SHIFTING FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR WHILE IN PARKING LOTS OR UNDER 15 MILES AND HOUR.. 3. AFTER PLACING THE TRANSMISSION IN REVERSE THERE IS A (METALLIC) CLICKING NOISE WHEN YOU PUSH ON THE ACCELERATOR. 4. WHEN YOU PLACE THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE THERE IS A WHIRRING SOUND BEFORE THE CAR GOES INTO GEAR. 5. WHEN YOU ACCELERATE FROM A STOP TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS THERE IS A HARD SHIFT FROM FIRST TO SECOND AND THE AFTER THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE SHIFT INTO THE THIRD GEAR THERE IS A SHUDDER OR SLIPPING FEELING. 6. ON OCCASION WHEN PULLING UP TO A STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGH THE VEHICLE WILL DOWNSHIFT WHEN IT COMPLETELY STOPPED. I HAVE BEEN TALKING TO THE DEALER AND FINALLY CONTACTED CHRYSLER ABOUT THE PROBLEM. SO FAR THERE HAS BEEN NOTHING DONE EXCEPT TO FLASH THE TRANSMISSION PER A SERVICE BULLETIN THEY HAD. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHEN THE CONTACT PLACES THE VEHICLE INTO DRIVE WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES ON ITS OWN. THE FAILURE IS INTERMITTENT AND ALSO OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PLACED INTO REVERSE. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 7,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.
VEHICLE UNABLE TO GO IN REVERSE UP AN INCLINED DRIVEWAY WITHOUT DIFFICULTY AND SHUTTERING IN THE DRIVVETRAIN. CHYRSTLER ENGINEERS AND DEALER SERVICE MANGER TOLD ME THIS IS NORMAL STATE FOR THIS VEHICLE AND I SHOULD GO UP THE DRIVEWAY FASTER AND WITHOUT SLOWING OR SOPPING TO AVOID THE SHUTTER. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN YOU HAVE MANY CHILDREN IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD, YOU HAVE TO GO SLOW UP THE DRIVEWAY TO MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT RUN ANYONE OVER OR HIT AN OBJECT. I AM NOT A TRAINED REVERSE RACE CAR DRIVER. ALL OF THE OTHER VEHICLES I HAVE HAD IN MY DRIVEWAY DID NOT HAVE THIS ISSUE. WE ALSO HAVE REPORTED HARD SHIFTING AT SLOW SPEEDS WHERE THE VEHICLE ACTUALLY LURCHES FORWARD. THIS IS DANGEROUS WHEN YOU ARE IN AREAS WHERE CROSSWALKS ARE PRESENT SUCH AS THE PARK, SHOPPING AREAS, SHOOL ZONES ETC. CHRYSLER STATED THIS TOO WAS NORMAL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO SLIP GEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS FOR IDENTICAL FAILURES. THE COMPUTER CHIP AND TRANSMISSION WERE REPLACED ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. NONE OF THE REPAIRS HAVE REMEDIED THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 34,970.
