I HAD RECEIVED NOTICE THAT MY CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY WAS POSSIBLY PART OF A RECALL FOR THE FOBIK ISSUE. I MADE AN APPT WITH THE DEALERSHIP & IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PART OF THE RECALL. WHILE DRIVING WITH MY FOUR CHILDREN DOWN AT 45 MILES PER HOUR, THE ENGINE DID "UNINTENTIONALLY SHUT OFF". FORTUNATELY, I WAS IN AN OUTSIDE LANE AND WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE EDGE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT INCIDENT. I CONTACTED THE VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE THAT DAY REGARDING MY CONCERN THAT THERE ARE NO PARTS AVAILABLE TO FIX A KNOWN PROBLEM & SPOKE WITH [XXX]. I WAS ADDED TO AN EMAIL NOTIFICATION LIST AT THAT TIME. TO DATE, I HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED. I SPOKE WITH [XXX] FROM THE VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE TODAY & WAS DIRECTED TO CALL CHRYSLER. I SPOKE WITH A REPRESENTATIVE AT 800-992-1997 TO EXPLAIN MY CONCERNS. THEY STATED THAT PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE AND THAT THERE WAS NO ONE ELSE TO TALK TO ABOUT IT. THAT ISN'T A SATISFACTORY ANSWER. ENGINE SHUT OFF WHEN CAR WAS IN MOTION BECAUSE THE FOBIK SLIPPED INTO ACCESSORY MODE ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP (CROSS MOTORS LOUISVILLE, KY) CLAIMS TO BE UNABLE TO GET PARTS FROM CHRYSLER CORP.
FOLLOW UP TO NHTSA ID # 10648758 WHERE WE THOUGHT REPLACING THE HEADLIGHT CONTROL SWITCH WOULD STOP THE HEADLIGHTS FROM TURNING OFF WHILE IN USE. TOOK ONLY 3 DAYS TO DISCOVER THAT WAS NOT THE ROUTE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM AS THE HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT AGAIN. NO WARNING. THEY JUST WENT OFF. BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY NOW SAY IT THE TIPM. NO PARTS AVAILABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM FOR AT LEAST A MONTH. NOT A SAFE CAR TO DRIVE. *TR

WIRELESS IGNITION NODE REPLACEMENT. I HAVE BEEN AWAITING THE REPLACEMENT OF THIS ITEM. CHRYSLER HAS DIRECTED ON 2 OR 3 OCCASIONS FOR MOORE AUTO TO ORDER THE PART WHICH IS AVAILABLE AND TO REPLACE THIS AUTO TO A SAFE CONDITION. THEY HAVE DONE THIS BY NOT ORDERING THE PARTS NEEDED AND REFUSING TO COMPLY WITH CHRYSLERS DIRECTIONS. THIS NON ACTION BY CHRYSLER AND MOST IMPORTANTLY MOORE AUTO HAS PLACED MY FAMILY AND MYSELF IN DANGER. MOORE AND CHRYSLER HAVE REFUSED TO TAKE MY VEHICLE BACK IN TO THEIR POSSESSION AND REPLACE IT WITH A NEW VEHICLE. BOTH MYSELF AND CHRYSLER HAVE NUMEROUSLY REQUESTED THAT MOORE TAKE ACTION TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. THE LAST TIME CHRYSLER REQUESTED MOORE TO AGAIN REPLACE THE UNSAFE PARTS,MOORE'S ANSWER TO CHRYSLER WAS THAT THEIR PARTS DEPT. HAD 12 KITS TO REPAIR VEHICLES BUT THEY WOULD NOT USE ANY OF THOSE KITS TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE. THEY AT THAT TIME TOLD CHRYSLER THAT THEY WOULD IMMEDIATELY ORDER ONE FOR MY CAR AND REPAIR IT WHEN THEY COULD. THAT WAS OVER 2 WEEKS AGO AND STILL NO WORD FROM MOORE AUTO OR CHRYSLER. USUAL TURN AROUND TIME BETWEEN ORDERING PARTS AND INSTALLATION IS 3 DAYS,SOMETIMES SOONER. I REQUEST YOUR HELP IN DEALING WITH THIS 13+ MONTH PROBLEM. THANK YOU. *TR
RECALL L25/ NHTSA 14V-373 WAS PUBLISHED ON 10/10/14 AND I GOT NOTICED BY MAIL. ON OCT 27 I TRIED TO MAKE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE PROBLEM FIXED BUT WAS TOLD THAT NO PARTS WERE AVAILABLE AND THAT I WOULD BE NOTIFIED (BOTH MY DEALERSHIP AND THE CHRYSLER GROUP RECALL ASSISTANCE CENTER CLAIMED THIS). I HAVE HAD NO FOLLOW UP FROM CHRYSLER OR ITS DEALERSHIP. I FOLLOWED UP TODAY AGAIN AND WAS TOLD THAT NO PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND HEREWITH WANT TO FILE AN OFFICIAL COMPLAINT ABOUT THE SLOW HANDLING OF THIS RECALL. HOW CAN I USE THIS CAR DURING OUR UPCOMING CHRISTMAS TRIP OF MORE THAN A 1000 MILES WITH AN URGENT AND IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL NOT BEING FIXED. IT WOULD SEEM, THAT A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY TOURING WITH ONLY 48,000 MILES ON IT WOULD NOT NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. IT IS DRIVEN BY A SENIOR WHO DOES NOT "ABUSE" ITS' USE. CAR DEVELOPED A "WHIRRING NOISE" AND AFTER 4 DIFFERENT AUTO MECHANIC SHOPS' (INCLUDING THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED) OPINIONS, THEY ALL TOLD ME A NEW TRANSMISSION WAS NEEDED. WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT THE LEFT HEADLIGHT FLICKERED THEN BOTH HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT. THEY STAYED OUT LONG ENOUGH FOR ME TO ALERT MY DAUGHTER, WHO WAS RIDING IN THE BACKSEAT TO WITNESS THE BLINDNESS WE WERE DRIVING IN. SEEMED LIKE MINUTES, BUT AM SURE IT WAS PROBABLY ONLY 30 SECONDS OR SO (EITHER WAY A TRUE HAZARD WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT). AS THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME IN ABOUT A MONTH THIS HAPPENED WE HAD RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND LEARNED THAT IF YOU TURN THE SWITCH ON AND OFF MULTIPLE TIMES THE LIGHTS WILL EVENTUALLY COME BACK ON. WHILE IT WORKED THIS IS BEYOND DISTRACTING AND QUITE THE FEAT OF DRIVING AS ONE TRIES TO STAY ON A ROAD THEY CAN NO LONGER SEE AND HOPE THEY DO NOT CRASH OR GET HIT BY OTHER CARS. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY CONFIRMED IT WAS IN FACT THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY (COMPLETE FAILURE WHEN THEY TESTED IT). PART ORDERED. PART WAS REPLACED AND SO FAR SO GOO (BEEN LESS THAN A WEEK). WE DID LEARN OF ISSUES WITH THIS PART ON PRIOR YEAR MODELS. THE FIX OF ADDING MORE LUBRICANT TO THE SWITCH IS TEMPORARY AND DOES NOT COMPLETELY FIX THE LIGHTS GOING OUT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND CHRYSLER NEEDS TO ADDRESS IT. WHILE WE GOT A MINOR DISCOUNT ON THE SERVICE IT IS STILL A KNOWN DEFECT. *TR
