TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PANEL ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT IN SOME OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART AND WAS INOPERABLE FOR DAYS. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE REPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000.
OUR 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY LEAKED WATER FROM A MANUFACTURER DEFECT IN THE AC DRAIN TUBE, ROTTED THE CARPET AND UNDERLAY, FILLED THE WIRING HARNESS UNDER THE PASSENGER CARPET WITH WATER. THE DRAIN TUBE WAS REPLACED UNDER A RECALL. THE AC STARTED TO BLOW HOT AIR.THE DEALER SAID IT WAS THE AC COMPRESSOR SO WE HAD IT REPLACED. $ 800. THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM SO THEY SAID IT NEEDED THE AC PRESSURE SWITCH AND HARNESS SO WE REPLACED IT. $400. THIS STILL DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM SO THE CHRYSLER DEALER THEN DIAGNOSED THE TIPM. AFTER $ 1200 WE STILL HAVE NO AC. WE HAVE ANOTHER $ 500 TO PAY IF WE CAN EVER GET THE PART. THE WHOLE PROBLEM IS FROM THE WATER FROM THE DEFECTIVE DRAIN TUBE SHORTING THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND CHRYSLER KNOW IT. THE DEALER SAID THE TIPM WAS ON BACK ORDER AND THERE WERE 600 OTHERS AHEAD OF US. WE CONTACTED CHRYSLER BUT THEY ARE JUST GIVING US THE RUN AROUND. WE BOUGHT CHRYSLER TO SUPPORT AMERICAN JOBS. WHAT A GRAVE MISTAKE. *TR
THE VALVE STEM BECAME CORRODED AND BROKE OFF UNDER THE CAP. THE TIRE LOST PRESSURE WHILE DRIVING DUE TO THE DEFECTIVE VALVE STEM, AND VALVE STEM HAD TO BE REPLACED TO REFILL THE TIRE WITH AIR.
BURNING HEATER HOSE, SMELLS LIKE ANTIFREEZE. THEN SMOKE FROM RUBBER COULD LEAD TO FIRE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD LEAK ANTIFREEZE UNTO ABNORMALLY. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR HEATER TUBE HOSE ASSEMBLY AND MASTER CYLINDER SHOULD BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,498 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 87,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 4 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS INADVERTENTLY DEPLOYED. IN ADDITION, BOTH REAR SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AT THE SAME TIME, ALTHOUGH THERE WAS NO IMPACT TO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED SEVERE BODILY INJURIES DUE TO THE FORCEFUL DEPLOYMENT OF THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO EXIT FROM THE SEAT BELT AFTER THE AIR BAG RELEASED AND THE PARAMEDICS CUT THE SEAT BELT WEBBING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED TO THE CONTACT THAT THE AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE WAS FAULTY. THE CONTACT EXPRESSED CONCERNS OF THE VEHICLE BEING UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND THE DEALER PROVIDED A LOANER VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE MALFUNCTION. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
UPON MERGING ON TO THE HIGHWAY AT APPROX. 50 MPH, THE VAN RAPIDLY ACCELERATED ON IT'S OWN. THE GAS PEDAL WAS NOT STUCK ON A FLOOR MAT, IT HIT THE FLOORBOARD ON IT'S OWN. APPLYING THE BRAKES DID NOT WORK, PUMPING THE BRAKES AS WELL AS THE GAS PEDAL DID NOT WORK. VAN WAS STEERED TO SHOULDER, THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS APPLIED, AND THE VEHICLE PUT IN PARK. THE ENGINE REVVED RAPIDLY UNTIL VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF. ACCELERATION PROBLEM OCCURRED AT 38,800 MILES. *KB
DESCRIPTION OF THE COMPLAINT: MY 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY, JUST STOPPED WORKING LAST NIGHT. DROVE IT AROUND ALL DAY AND IT WAS FINE. WENT IN TO WORK, AND WHEN I CAME OUT THAT NIGHT TO GO HOME, THE LIGHTS WERE ALL WORKING, AND THE POWER DOORS AND WINDOWS WORKED. HOWEVER, THE RADIO STOPPED WORKING, THE POWER WINDOWS NO LONGER WORK, AND THE CAR WILL NOT START. IT WILL NOT TRY TO TURN OVER. YOU CAN TURN THE KEY AND NOTHING HAPPENS. THE STARTER DOES NOT CLICK, THE MOTOR DOESN'T DO ANYTHING AT ALL. SINCE WE CAN'T PUT IT IN GEAR DUE TO THE SECURITY LOCKOUT, WE HAVE TOWED IT TO A REPAIR SHOP. THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE CONSIDERING IT IS THE ONLY VEHICLE MY FAMILY HAS, AND NOW WE HAVE NO WAY TO GET OUR KIDS TO THE DOCTOR OR TO SCHOOL. THEY SAID IT WAS A FUSE BOX WHICH HAS TO BEE ORDERED BUT WILL TAKE A WHILE SINCE THERE HAS BEEN A SHORTAGE OF THESE ITEMS. THEY SAID THE DEALERS WERE OUT, PROBABLY BECAUSE OF A MANUFACTURES DEFECT. THEY SAID THERE WAS NOT A RECALL AS OF YET. *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE HEADLIGHTS AND THE LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AND SHUT OFF. UPON RESTART, THE VEHICLE FUNCTIONED NORMALLY. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN MOTION THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ENGAGED, THE HORN BEGAN TO BLOW, AND THE DOOR LOCKS ENGAGED AND DISENGAGED INVOLUNTARILY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT AN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000.
THE POWER BOOSTER FAILED CAUSING A LOSS IN BRAKING CAPABILITY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HORN AND THE WINDSHIELD WASHER ACTIVATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE DOORS LOCKED AUTOMATICALLY WHILE THE ENGINE WAS OFF AND THE AIR CONDITION ALSO ACTIVATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC AND LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE CONTROL MODULE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
THE FIRST PROBLEM WE NOTICED WITH THE VAN WAS THE BRAKES. THEY WEAR OUT WAY TO QUICKLY. IN THE 5 YEARS WE HAVE HAD THE VAN WE HAVE REPLACED THE BRAKES 6 TIMES AND ROTORS 2 TIMES. THE NEXT PROBLEM WAS WHAT SEEMS TO BE A WELL DOCUMENTED LEAK OF THE COOLANT ON TO THE ENGINE CAUSING SMELLY SMOKE. WE WERE FORCED TO BY THE PART FROM THE DEALER AS IT WAS NOT AVAILABLE ANYWHERE ELSE AND PAID OVER 100.00 FOR IT. THANKFULLY MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO REPLACE IT. NOW AT 80000 MILES THE KEY AND IGNITION HAS BEEN HAVING ISSUES. IT STARTED WITH NOT BEING ABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY FOB. THE ENGINE WILL CUT OFF BUT IT WILL ONLY GO INTO ACCESSORY. IF LEFT OVERNIGHT OR FOR SOMETIME IT WILL KILL THE BATTERY. IT STARTED OCCASIONALLY AND HAS PROGRESSED TO ALMOST EVERY TIME YOU CUT THE ENGINE OFF YOU CANNOT REMOVE THE KEY FOB. IT WILL RELEASE BUT IT IS AFTER SOMETIME SITTING IN PARK. IT IS VERY FRUSTRATING HAVING TO LEAVE YOUR KEY IN THE IGNITION AND BE FORCED TO LEAVE IT SITTING IN A RANDOM PARKING LOT AND JUST HOPE THAT WHEN YOU RETURN THE BATTERY IS NOT DEAD. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND IT IS VERY COMMON AMONG THIS VAN AND OTHER CHRYSLER VEHICLES. AT THIS POINT I AM SO FED UP WITH IT IF SOMEONE DECIDED TO STEAL IT BECAUSE THEY SAW THE KEY IN IT I WOULD JUST WISH THEM GOOD LUCK. I WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER CHRYSLER ! SEEMS LIKE THERE HAS TO BE A FIRE INJURY OR FATALITY FOR THEM TO DO ANYTHING TO SATISFY ALL THE UNHAPPY CUSTOMERS THEY HAVE. *TR
WHILE STARTING TO FILL THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE WITH AIR, THE VALVE STEM PORTION OF THE TIRE MONITORING SYSTEM BROKE AT A POINT WHERE THE TIRE DEFLATED. LUCKILY WE WERE PARKED. THE VALVE STEM APPEARS CORRODED. ALL CHRYSLER VEHICLES WITH THIS TYPE OF VALVE STEM SHOULD BE RECALLED AND A REPLACEMENT (MORE DURABLE) VALVE STEM INSTALLED BEFORE THE STEM BREAKS OFF WHILE DRIVING RESULTING IN A SEVERE ACCIDENT. *KB
1.THERE ARE TIMES WHEN RIGHT AFTER SHUTTING THE VEHICLE OFF AND COMING BACK TO THE CAR SEVERAL MINUTES LATER, IT WILL NOT START. THE KEY TURNS BUT THERE IS NO POWER. I HAVE REPLACED ALTENATOR, AND BATTERY AND STARTER. THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE IN THE IGNITION. 2. I HAVE REPLACED THE FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS AT 80,000MILES ,ALSO IN THE 3 YEARS OF OWNING THIS VEHICLE I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE FRONT BRAKESAND ROTORS 2 TIMES AND REAR BRAKES ONCE. 3. OIL SEEMS TO "DISAPPEAR" USUALLY 2 QUARTS IN A MATTER OF 1000 OR LESS MILES. THIS VEHICLE IS THE MOST UNSAFE VEHICLE I HAVE EVER BOUGHT. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE ON THE WORD OF CHRYSLER THAT IT IS A SAFE AND TRUSTWORTHY VAN. I HAVE BEEN STRANDED MORE TIMES THAN I CHOOSE TO COUNT, IN PARKING LOTS AND WHAT NOT MILES AWAY FROM HOME, WITH MY 3 SMALL CHILDREN. IT IS ABSOLUTELY [XXX] THAT I HAVE TO HAVE A "SURVIVAL PACK" FOOD AND WATER AND STROLLERS AND THINGS OF THAT NATURE IN MY VEHICLE AT ALL TIMES IN CASE WE GET STRANDED SOMEWHERE. WHILE IN FOR WARRANTY REPLACEMENT OF FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS, DEALER REPORTED "WEAPAGE" AT THE SEAM ON FUEL TANK. ESTIMATED REPAIR AT $800 PLUS LABOR. DEFECT WOULD APPEAR TO ME TO BE SAFETY (FIRE) CAUSED BY MANUFACTURING PROCESS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE REAR SLIDING DOORS OPENED INDEPENDENTLY AND THE DOOR SENSOR ALSO MALFUNCTIONED. A CHILD WAS CAUGHT IN BETWEEN THE SLIDING DOOR WHILE IT WAS CLOSING. THE SENSOR WAS SUPPOSED TO STOP THE DOOR FROM CLOSING WHEN THERE WAS AN OBSTRUCTION BUT IT DID NOT. THE CHILD SUFFERED ABDOMINAL AND HEAD INJURIES. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THE DEALER REPAIRED THE SLIDING DOORS BUT THE REPAIR DID NOT REMEDY THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT STATED THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT OFFER A REMEDY REPAIR FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 45 MPH WHEN BURNING FUMES WERE EMITTED INTO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE IT APPEARED THAT THE BURNING SMELL WAS COMING FROM THE WHEELS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE CALIPER FROZE AND BURNED THE BRAKES AND ROTORS. AS A RESULT, THE BRAKES, ROTORS AND CALIPERS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 30,274.
I HAVE STILL HEARD NOTHING FROIM CHRYSLER REGARDING RESOLVING RECALL 14V-373. THE LAST TIME I ASKED THE DEALER, THEY SAID THEY HAD NOT GOTTEN THE PARTS. WILL THEY EVER FIX THE PROBLEM, IF SO WHEN?
WE ARE HAVING ISSUES WITH MOPAR PRODUCTS. WE REPLACED BRAKES AT 31,843 MILES AT CHRYSLER WORLD IN ABRAHMS, WI. CHRYSLER HELPED OUT WITH THAT THEY SAW A DEFECT IN THEIR VAN PRODUCTS AND PAID PART OF THE COST. AT 53,861 MILES CHRYSLER WORLD TOLD US WE ARE DUE FOR NEW BRAKES IN THE FRONT AND NEED REAR BRAKES ALSO! THEY SAID IT WAS OK TO DRIVE TO AZ BUT THAT THE BRAKES NEEDED ATTENTION BY SPRING. THAT'S 22,018 MILES AFTER THE REPLACEMENT! SOMETHING IS WRONG AND IT IS NOT OUR DRIVING! IN THE SUMMER WE LIVE IN RURAL WI AND WE TRAVEL TO SURPRISE, AZ IN THE WINTER. THE WI TO AZ TRIP IS 2,100 MILES, MOSTLY INTERSTATE. SINCE OUR PURCHASE MORE THAN 20,000 OF OUR MILES HAVE BEEN ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS. ABOUT 95% OF OUR MILES ARE RURAL AND INTERSTATE MILES! THE NEXT PROBLEM OCCURRED ON OUR WAY TO AZ IN OCTOBER. SOME TYPE OF SPRING BROKE IN THE STEERING COLUMN. THIS WAS REPAIRED AT TOM OBRIEN CHRYSLER JEEP IN GREENWOOD, IN. THIS WAS REPLACED BY ANOTHER MOPAR PRODUCT. HOW LONG WILL THAT LAST? THEY SAID I NEEDED NEW BRAKES ALSO BUT IT WOULD BE OK TO CONTINUE TO AZ! I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH CHRYSLER CORP. ON 11-16-2011 A CHRYSLER REPRESENTATIVE PHONED AND STATED THEY WILL DO NOTHING AS THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. HE GAVE ME THIS CASE# [XXX] FOR REFERENCE TO HIS PHONE CALL AND THEIR DECISION. MY BRAKES ARE GRINDING AT TIMES WHEN I STOP AND I FEEL CHRYSLER MUST HAVE A BIGGER PROBLEM WITH THIS VAN THAN THEY ARE TELLING OR WILLING TO MAKE RIGHT. I AM AFRAID TO TAKE IT IN TO A CHRYSLER DEALER BECAUSE OF THE FAULTY BRAKE LININGS THEY INSTALLED AT 31,843 MILES. I WAS DRIVING ALONG AND ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEARD A SQUEALING NOISE AND SMELLED A BURNING SMELL. I QUICK PULLED OVER AND MY ROTORS ON THE LEFT REAR TIRE WERE FIRE ENGINE RED. THE NEXT DAY A CALLED THE DEALER AND SURE ENOUGH I NEED TO REPLACE THE BRAKES AND ROTORS ON ALL 4 AXLES. THE CAR ONLY HAS 15,000 ON IT. I FEAR THAT THIS WILL BE AN ONGOING ISSUE AND I HAVE KIDS IN THE CAR. I NEED MY BRAKES TO WORK PROPERLY AT ALL TIMES. *TR

THE TECHNICIAN VERIFIED THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE SENSOR AND VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. ONE TPMS VALVE STEM BROKE WHEN I TRIED TO ADD SOME AIR. TIRE GOT FLAT INSTANTLY. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN DID NOT QUALIFY FOR REPAIRS UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER:11V394000(AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 56,300.

THE CONTACT STATED THE KEY WAS FRACTURED ON BOTH SIDES NEAR THE PANIC BUTTON. THE CONTACT USED THE SECOND KEY TO START THE VEHICLE AND WITHIN A FEW DAYS IT FRACTURED IN THE SAME MANNER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THE KEYS WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE KEY WAS NOT REPLACED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000.

WHEN SHE STARTED DRIVING IT AGAIN AND WHEN SHE STARTED TO DRIVE IT WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF 3 GEAR. SHE PULLED OVER AND SHUT IT OFF. STARTED IT UP AGAIN AND IT WORKED FINE. 3 DAYS LATER MY WIFE AND KIDS TOOK IT AND ALL THE DEVICES TURNED ON AGAIN OUT IN THE PARKING LOT WITH THE VAN OFF AND KEYS OUT OF IT. WHEN SHE STARTED THE VAN IT WOULD ONLY RUN FOR LIKE 20 SECONDS AND THEN QUIT RUNNING. TRIED IT NUMEROUS TIME TO NO AVAIL. SHE WAIT 30 MINUTES WHILE I WAS DRIVING TO PICK THEM UP. SHE STARTED IT AGAIN AND IT WORK FINE. IT STILL ACTS UP ABOUT EVER 2 TO 3 DAYS. DEALERSHIP SAYS IT CANT FIX THE PROBLEM CAUSE IT CANT FIND ANYTHING WRONG AND CANT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ALONG AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH ON HIGHWAY 158 IN NORTH CAROLINA, THE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. BY THE TIME THE VAN COULD BE SAFELY PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND STOPPED, THE LEFT FRONT TIRE WAS ALMOST COMPLETELY FLAT. THE SPARE TIRE WAS INSTALLED AND WHEN THE FAILED TIRE WAS LAID ON IT'S SIDE THE VALVE STEM/TPM SENSOR FELL INSIDE THE TIRE. THE NEXT DAY THE VAN WAS TAKEN TO THE NEAREST CHRYSLER DEALER FOR REPAIR. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE RETAINING NUT THAT HOLDS THE SENSOR IN PLACE MUST HAVE CRACKED AND ALLOWED THE AIR TO ESCAPE FROM THE TIRE. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT HE HAS SEEN MANY OF THESE FAILURES WHERE THE ALUMINUM RETAINING NUT CRACKS. HE INSPECTED THE OTHER THREE SENSORS AND RECOMMENDED THAT THEY BE REPLACED BEFORE THEY ALSO FAIL. THE DEALER DID NOT HAVE THE NECESSARY PART TO INSTALL A NEW SENSOR AND WOULD HAVE TO ORDER IT. BECAUSE WE WERE ON VACATION AT THE TIME AND COULD NOT WAIT THE TIME TO GET THE PART, THE DEALER INSTALLED A STANDARD VALVE STEM TO GET US HOME. HE ADVISED US THAT THE WARNING LIGHT WOULD REMAIN ON CONSTANTLY UNTIL A PROPER SENSOR WAS INSTALLED. THE DEALER ALSO ADVISED US TO GET THE PROPER SENSOR AS SOON AS WE RETURNED HOME. THIS FAILURE IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. WE WERE FORTUNATE THAT WE WERE NOT TRAVELING AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS OR THE OUTCOME COULD HAVE RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT. CHRYSLER SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO RECALL THESE SENSORS BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED.

NEXT INCIDENT VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH WHEN SAME THING HAPPENED, VEHICLE STALLED AND POWER ASSIST AND BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING. BLARING HORN AND WIPER ACTIVITY INCONTROLLABLE HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE ON HIGHWAY. THE WIPER BLADES (BOTH FRONT AND BACK WINDOW) TURN ON WITHOUT WARNING. THE WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID WILL SPURT OUT. AND THE HORN WILL HONK. THESE ITEMS WILL ACT LIKE THIS FOR A SHORT TIME AND UP TO 10 MINUTES AND WON'T STOP. THE CAR HAS STOPPED WHILE I HAVE BEEN DRIVING AND WILL NOT START FOR UP TO 15 MINUTES. THE VAN HIT A POLE AT APPROXIMATELY 4O MPH. THE IMPACT WAS SO SEVERE THAT THE FRONT END AND TIRE WERE PUSHED UNDER THE DRIVER CUASING THE VAN TO BE TOTALLED. A FORENSIC EXPERT FORM THE INSURANCE COMPANY REVEWED THE DATA ON THE VAN AND THE EXPERT CONFIRMED THAT THE SENSOR DID NOT GO OFF. *TT

TOOK IT TO THE CHRYSLER DEALER AND THEY PERFORMED A SOFTWARE UPDATE ,TSB 18-003-09 , AND THEY SAID THIS SHOULD CORRECT THE PROBLEM. WE PERFORMED A DEALERSHIP BATTERY REPLACEMENT ON 8-1-11. ON DEC. 14TH, 2011 THE PROBLEM RE-OCCURRED, WHILE LEAVING A PARKING LOT TRAVELING UNDER 10 MPH. NOW WITH OUT POWER STEERING ASSISTANCE, I WAS BARELY ABLE TO MANUALLY MANEUVER THE VEHICLE TO A OPEN PARKING SPOT, STOP, PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND IT RESTARTED. ON DEC. 22, 2011 THE PROBLEM RE-OCCURRED, WHILE BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY TRAVELING UNDER 10 MPH. STOPPED VEHICLE, PLACED IT INTO PARK AND IT RESTARTED. I CALLED THE SAME CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP WHOM PERFORMED THE ABOVE STATED REPAIR, THE EARLIEST APPOINTMENT DATE THEY WERE ABLE TO GIVE WAS DEC. 27, 2011. THIS IS INCIDENT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND ALARMING TO THE SAFETY OF A FAMILY OF SIX. WE HAVE GOOGLE'D THIS TYPE OF INCIDENT AND HAVE READ A LOT OF SIMILAR OCCURRENCES. WE HAVE BEEN CONTINUOUSLY HASSLED WITH ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH OUR VAN. FOR APPROXIMATELY 4 MONTHS WE HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING BRIEF ISSUES WITH ALL THE LIGHTS COMING ON IN THE GAUGE CLUSTER ALONG WITH A PULSING OF THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS AND THE RESETTING OF THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS RANDOMLY IN THE VAN. WE REPLACED THE BATTERY AND THE ISSUE SEEMED TO GO AWAY. AFTER 2-3 WEEKS IT STARTED UP AGAIN. ME AND MY FAMILY WERE DRIVING DOWN A HIGHWAY FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES WHEN THE CLUSTER GAUGE SUDDENLY STARTED BEEPING AND ALL THE LIGHTS BEGAN TO FLASH ON AND OFF, THE SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER DROPPED TO 0, THE RADIO TURNED ON AND OFF MULTIPLE TIMES AND THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN BRIEFLY WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE PROBLEM BEGAN I PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND RESTARTED THE CAR, THE PROBLEM WAS GONE! TWO DAYS LATER MY WIFE WAS TAKING OUR KIDS TO SCHOOL, AND AFTER LESS THAN 5 MINUTES OF DRIVING THE CAR SHE EXPERIENCED THE EXACT SAME ISSUES. THIS TIME BEFORE SHE MADE IT OFF THE ROAD THERE WAS A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER, THE BRAKES STOPPED WORKING AND THE STEERING WHEEL COMPLETELY LOCKED UP, SHE WAS UNABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD! AGAIN AFTER A IMMEDIATE RESTART THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY. WE CONTACTED THE DEALER AND WE WERE TOLD THAT IF THEY COULD NOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM, THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO FIX IT. THIS IS A ISSUE BECAUSE THE PROBLEM HAPPENS RANDOMLY. WE ARE AWARE THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS PLAGUED A VERY LARGE GROUP OF CONSUMERS AND THE DEALER DOES NOTHING BUT REPAIR RANDOM PARTS BECAUSE THEY CANNOT PROPERLY RECREATE THE PROBLEM DUE TO ITS RANDOMNESS.
