CONSUMER STATES THAT THE REAR BRAKES BECAME HOT, MADE A NOISE, AND GAVE OFF A BURNING SMELL. *GR THE DEALER FOUND THE PADS BINDING IN THE CALIPER BRACKET AND THE CALIPERS HAD SEIZED.. *JB
BRAKES AND ROTORS HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 18K MILES. THE GARAGE WHO REPLACED IT SHOWED IT TO MY HUSBAND AND TOLD HIM THEY WERE CHEAP PARTS. TWO TIRES HAD TO BE REPLACED AS WELL AT THE SAME MILEAGE. TIRES PUT ON BY CHRYSLER ARE YOKOHAMA TIRES AND ARE JUNK! I CAN ALSO FEEL A MOVEMENT UNDER MY DRIVERS SIDE CAR MAT IN THE FLOOR WHEN I STOP AT A STOP SIGN AND MAKE A LEFT TURN, SOMETHING MOVES UNDERNEATH AS I AM TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL, I NEED TO CONTACT DEALER FOR THIS TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. *TR
PROBLEM STARTED IN JULY 2009 WITH 20,630 MILES. ALL WARNING LIGHTS ON DASH FLASH, WIPERS RUN, WARNING CHIME SOUNDS. PROBLEM HAS PERSISTED INTERMITTENTLY SINCE THEN. LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER HAS LOOKED AT IT SEVERAL TIMES BUT PROBLEM CANNOT BE DUPLICATED. INITIALLY CODES WERE STORED IN THE OBDII BUT NOT ON MOST RECENT OCCURRENCES. PROBLEM SEEMS RELATED TO OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE (HASN'T OCCURRED WHEN TEMPERATURE IS BELOW 30) AND VEHICLE BODY MOVEMENT (90% OF OCCURRENCES WERE WHEN TURNING LEFT). PROBLEM WAS A NUISANCE BUT I BELIEVE YESTERDAY'S EVENTS ESCALATED IT TO A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE. ON FEBRUARY 20, MILEAGE 26,500, TEMPERATURE IN 40S PROBLEM REAPPEARED; ONLY NOW IT WAS CONSTANT. WE WERE ABOUT 30 MILES FROM HOME AND HAD TO DRIVE HOME, AT NIGHT, WITH DASH WARNING LIGHTS CONSTANTLY FLASHING, ALL INSTRUMENTS INTERMITTENTLY GOING TO ZERO, WINDSHIELD WIPERS INTERMITTENTLY RUNNING, AND HEAD LIGHTS AND FOG LIGHTS FLASHING. THIS REPEATED ABOUT EVERY 10 SECONDS FOR THE WHOLE TRIP HOME. MOST OF THE TRIP WAS ON A FOUR LANE DIVIDED HIGHWAY. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 50 MPH BUT CAN'T BE SURE BECAUSE SPEEDOMETER KEPT GOING TO ZERO. I STOPPED NEAR THE BEGINNING OF THE TRIP AND REMOVED THE WIPER FUSE TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE WINDSHIELD. *TR
2008 CHRYSLER T&C BRAKE ISSUES: I HAD THE BRAKES REPLACED AT 23,000 MILES AND NOW AT 30,000 THE BRAKES ARE SQUEAKING AGAIN. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT IT IS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. MY OTHER VEHICLE HAS 130,000 MILE AND THE BRAKES HAVE ONLY BEEN REPLACED ONCE. I HAVE READ MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS AND I AM NERVOUS TO HAVE MY FAMILY DRIVE IN THE VEHICLE. I HAVE READ ABOUT THE CALIPERS LOCKING UP AS WELL, THIS COULD CAUSE A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION ON THE HIGHWAY AS WELL AS DEFEAT THE ABS FEATURE. 2008 CHRYSLER GRAND CARAVAN FRONT BRAKES FAIL @ 25,000 MILES. *TR
SATURDAY, FEB. 13TH I NOTICED A SMALL SQUEAKING IN MY FRONT BRAKES. SUNDAY, FEB 14TH, THERE STARTED A GRINDING NOISE THAT WOULD COME AND GO. TOOK IT TO THE SHOP THIS MORNING AND WAS INFORMED @ 28,000 MILES MY VEHICLE NEEDED NEW ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS. I HAD THEM REPLACED AT COST BUT I DID VOICE MY DISPLEASURE, MADE A COMPLAINT WITH THE COMPANY. I AM NOT SURE IF THE PARTS ARE AVAILABLE BUT I HAD THE WORK DONE FEB. 15, 2010 @ 9:00 AM. PROBLEM IS NOT WITH DEALERSHIP BUT WITH THE FACT THAT AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND THE CAR COMPANY IS NOT WILLING TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. WHILE DRIVING IN NORMAL TRAFFIC ON A LEVEL SIX LANE ( THREE LANES ON EACH SIDE) ROAD, PROCEEDED TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE USING NORMAL ACCELERATION. THROTTLE STUCK AND CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. PLACED SHIFT LEVER IN NEUTRAL. TACHOMETER INDICATED 4000RPM. BROUGHT VEHICLE TO STOP AND TURNED OFF IGNITION. VEHICLE WAS A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY. 3.8 LITER ENGINE 33262 MILES, ENGINE TEMPERATURE NORMAL (WARM ). AMBIENT TEMPERATURE 44DEGREES F, DEWPOINT 31 DEGREES F RESTARTED ENGINE AND ENGINE PERFORMED NORMAL. BROUGHT TO DEALER AND THE MOST LIKELY PROBLEM WAS CARBON BUILDUP IN THROTTLE BODY. *TR

2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY NEEDS NEW BRAKES AND ROTORS AT 24K MILES. WAS TOLD IT WAS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR, BUT AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE, I HAVE FOUND THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR'S MODEL. PEOPLE ARE BEING TOLD BRAKES ARE GETTING AN AVERAGE OF 12K MILES - OUTRAGEOUS. *TR
EXTREME BRAKE WEAR AND FADE; COMPLETE FALURE AND DIAGNOSTIC FAILURE CODES AT 35,588 MILES.CHRYSLER T&C BRAKE CONCERN: (BRAKE SYSTEM BLOG RESPONSE 02/06/2010) TAYERS HAVING BEEN IN THE INDUSTRY AS WELL AS BEING A FSE (FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER) FOR THE BIG 3, I AM REALLY UPSET!! BELIEVE IT OR NOT I RETURNED FROM A 2005 BULLET PROOF T&C ONLY TO BUY A NEW 2008 LOADED. EXPECTING THE SAME, IF NOT IMPROVED EXPERIENCE, THE BRAKE DESIGN AND METERING IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. HAVING CHANGED THE FRONT BRAKE PADS AT 23,000 MILES ONLY AS A PM PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE MOVE, AT 35,388 THE WHOLE FRONT SYSTEM WILL NOW HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE INDUSTRY DID GO THROUGH MAJOR BRAKE REDESIGNS WHEN ASBESTOS WAS REMOVED BACK IN 1995 CAUSING THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY TO RE-THINK AND RE-DESIGN BRAKE SYSTEMS. DVP (DESIGN VERIFICATION & PROVE OUT) IS REQUIRED, SOMEONE BLEW IT AND SHOULD BE FIRED! HAVING OWNED AND SERVICED OVER TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY CARS, I HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCH A DEPLORABLE RELEASE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. IT'S REALLY A SHAME BUT DAIMLER CHRYSLER SHOULD STEP UP TO THIS ISSUE OR TAKE THE T&C OUT OF PRODUCTION ALL TOGETHER. JUST READING ALL THESE BLOGS WILL CONVINCE NHTSA EVENTUALLY THAT THEY NEED TO REACT. WHILE YOU AND I MAY FIND THE T&C A GREAT VEHICLE IN THE MARKET SEGMENT, THE BRAKE SYSTEM IS NOT, NOR SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN RELEASED! WHOEVER DESIGNED THIS SYSTEM AND SAYS THEY TESTED AND PROVED IT OUT HAD TO BE SMOKING !@#$% THIS VAN HAD THE ABILITY TO STAND ABOVE ANY FOREIGN COMPETITION AND TO HAVE THIS PUT A BLACK MARK ON WHAT SHOULD BE A BEST SELLER IS A CRIME. *CN
CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY WITH 27,000 MILES FEMALE DAILY DRIVER...FRONT WHEEL BEARING FAILURE. DEALER FIRST CLAIMED FRONT BEARING ON ONE SIDE OF VEHICLE FAILED WHICH LED THEM TO REPLACING BEARINGS ON BOTH SIDES OF VEHICLE. DEALER ALSO FIRST CLAIMED BRAKES AND ROTORS ON ONE SIDE OF VEHICLE HAVE FAILED THEN CHANGED STORY TO BRAKES ON BOTH SIDES OF VEHICLE NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. *CN
I TOOK MY 2008 TOWN AND COUNTRY TO CHRYSLER TO GET INSPECTION AT MY DEALER AND COME TO FIND OUT THE FRONT BRAKES JUST PAST INSPECTION. THEY WERE COMPLETLY WORN OUT AT 27,000 MILES AND NEEDS REPLACING. THE SERVICE SAID IT WAS NORMAL. I TOLD THEM THE ARE ALL INTERATATE MILES AND 2 TRIPS FROM VA TO ARK. I COULD SEE IF I LIVED WHERE THERE WAS STOP AND GO TRAFFIC BUT I DO NOT. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND FILED A COMPLAINT AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD CONTACT MY DEALER AND SEE IF THEY COULD HELP ME OUT FINANCIALLY TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND FOUND OUT THAT PEOPLE HAVE EVEN GOT LESS MILES ON THERES. SOME AS LOW AS 11,000 MILES. I BELIEVE THEY HAVE A MAJOR BRAKING PROBLEM WITH THE 2008 MODEL AND IT REALLY NEEDS SOME ATTENTION FROM YOU ALL TO MAKE THEM FIX THIS PROBLEM. I AM SURE I AM NOT THE FIRST TO COMPLAIN. *CN
2008 CHRYSLER MINIVAN PURCHASED 09/08. CURRENTLY HAS 13370 MILES. FRONT BRAKES AND ROTORS REPLACE AT 8887 MILES. CURRENTLY IN SERVICE FOR BRAKES AGAIN. WHEN I EXPRESSED MY DISPLEASURE TO THE SERVICE REP., HIS RESPONSE WAS "WE SEE THIS EVERYDAY". CHRYSLER FIND THIS ACCEPTABLE? THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THESE SUB-STANDARD BREAKS THAT WERE/ARE BEING INSTALLED. *TR
WE HAVE A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY MINIVAN. THE BRAKE PADS ARE ALREADY SHOT. READING THROUGH EDMONDS.COM SHOWS THIS IS AN AMAZINGLY COMMON PROBLEM. APPARENTLY THERE ARE 1000S UPON 1000S OF OTHER OWNERS SIMILARLY AFFECTED BY THESE JUNK COMPONENTS. WE LITERALLY HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR ONLY 17 MONTHS AND HAVE TO REPLACE THE BRAKES, ON WHAT IS STILL A BRAND NEW CAR. *TR
2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY VAN HAS BEEN STALLING WHILE DRIVING SINCE 45K MILES. IT STALLED ONCE EVERY OTHER MONTH AT FIRST, NOW IT IS EVERY DAY. IT STALLS WHILE DRIVING 15MPH OR 60MPH. THE DEALERSHIP HAS SEEN IT TWO TIMES IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHAT THE CAUSE IS. WHEN IT STALLS THE BREAKS AND GAS ARE NOT FUNCTIONING, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS, AND THE VEHICLE MUST COAST TO A STOP. THERE IS NO WARNING WHEN IT WILL STALL OTHER THAN THE RPM GAUGE SUDDENLY DROPS FROM 1-2 TO 0 RAPIDLY. IN THAT TIME IT IS POSSIBLE TO PREVENT THE STALL IF THE VEHICLE CAN ACCELERATE QUICKLY, BUT IT IS DANGEROUS TO WATCH THE RPM GAUGE WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY WATCHING THE ROAD. THE ENGINE DOES NOT CHANGE SOUND AT ALL. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40-45 MPH ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, THE BRAKE SYSTEM SUDDENLY ACTIVATED; THERE WAS NO PRIOR WARNING BEFORE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TWO AUTHORIZED DEALERS BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO TOOK HIS COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 11,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 14,500.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH HE APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED AN INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCE. THE CONTACT ALSO HEARD A GRINDING NOISE DURING THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT ALL OF THE BRAKES WERE COMPLETELY WORN DOWN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED. APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR LATER THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE BRAKES WERE AGAIN REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 34,000.
BRAKE ROTORS AND PADS ON 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT 23,324 MILES AT A COST OF $735.20. DEALER WOULDN'T EVEN CONSIDER RESURFACING THE ROTORS BECAUSE THEY HAVE HAD SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THEM WARPING. VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW ON 11/10/07. BRAKES HAVE ALWAYS SQUEAKED BUT THEY SAID THAT WAS NORMAL FOR THIS VEHICLE. HAVE SINCE LEARNED THAT MANY OWNERS WITH THIS YEAR OF THIS VEHICLE ARE HAVING SIMILAR (OR WORSE) LONGEVITY OUT OF THEIR BRAKES. HAVE OWNED 2 PREVIOUS CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY'S PRIOR TO THIS AND DIDN'T HAVE TO REPLACE BRAKES UNTIL 50,000 + MILES. *TR
PREMATURE FAILURE ON FRONT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS. THE FRONT BRAKE PADS HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 18,000 MILES. THEN THE FRONT ROTORS HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 23,000 MILES. CHRYSLER WOULD NOT COVER ANY OF THE REPAIRS BECAUSE THE FRONT BRAKE PADS WERE NOT REPLACED AT A CHRYSLER DEALER WITH CHRYSLER PADS. CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE SAID THEY WOULD HAVE PAID TO REPLACE THE ROTORS AND PADS HAD THE PADS NOT BEEN REPLACED WITH AFTERMARKET PADS. THE REASON THEY WERE REPLACED WITH AFTERMARKET PADS IS BECAUSE AT 18,000 MILES WHEN THE PADS WORE OUT, I TOOK IT TO A CHRYSLER DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT AND THAT IT WAS NORMAL WEAR. OBVIOUSLY IT'S NOT NORMAL. CHRYSLER SHOULD FIX THIS PROBLEM BY PUTTING CORRECT SIZED ROTORS ON THE VEHICLE. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE. *TR
I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN MAY OF 2009. AFTER 3 WEEKS I NOTICED NOISE THAT SOUNDED LIKE THE BRAKES WERE BAD. I HAD THE VEHICLE CHECKED ON 6/2009, 8/2009, AND 12/2009 WAS TOLD THEY WERE FINE. AND THAT IT WAS THE TYPE OF MATERIAL THAT IS USED. 1/27/2010 WAS TOLD I NEED NEW BRAKES AND ROTORS AT 25432 MILES. CALLED DEALER/CHRYSLER TO FIND OUT ABOUT WARRENTY AND WAS TOLD THAT IS NOT COVERED. I THOUGHT IT HAD A BUMPER TP BUMPER WARRENTY TILL 36,000 MILES. DEALER LIED TO ME. IT IS GOING TO COST $650.00 TO FIX IT. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE CHRYSLER PRODUCTS. I ALSO CAN NOT GET THE TIRE-PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM TO TURN OFF. I WAS TOLD THE TIRES ARE FINE. CN
I OWN A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY LX. MY BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED AND ROTORS TURNED AT 13,300 IN OCT.08. LATER STARTED FEELING VIBRATION IN STEERING WHEEL WHEN APPLYING BRAKES. THIS OCCURRED IN EARLY OCT.09 WITH AROUND 17,000 MILES ON VAN. TOOK IT TO DEALER IN JAN 2010 BECAUSE VIBRATIONS GOT SO SEVERE. WAS TOLD FRONT ROTORS ARE GLAZED AND WORN AND NEED REPLACING AND PADS REPLACED. REAR ROTORS NEED TURNING AND PADS REPLACED. THE VAN HAS A LITTLE OVER 18,000 MILES ON IT. TO MANY PROBLEMS WITH BRAKES FOR SO FEW MILES ON VAN. *TR
2008 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY BRAKE PADS HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 15,800 MILES. THE BRAKE SYSTEM (ROTORS & PADS) ON THE 2008 TOWN & COUNTRY ARE INADEQUATE FOR THIS VAN AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR
CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY 2008 IS ON ITS SECOND REPLACEMENT OF BRAKES AT 30,000 MILES. THE BRAKES HAVE PREMATURELY WORN OUT WITH NO APPARENT REASON. VAN IS INSPECTED ROUTINELY EVERY OIL CHANGE AT AROUND 3000 MILES AND BRAKES ARE CHECKED. HOWEVER, THIS FAILURE APPEARS TO BE MORE THAN ROUTINE WEAR AND TEAR AND OCCURS SUDDENLY. *CW
WHILE DRIVING MY 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES PER HOUR IN A SHOPPING CENTER PARKING LOT THE SIDE AIR CURTAINS DEPLOYED WITHOUT ANY OTHER VEHICLE OR OBJECT HITTING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE IS AT GREENWAY CHRYSLER, ORLANDO, FLORIDA WAITING FOR ENGINEERS TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE AIRCURTAINS DEPLOYMENT. *TR
THE BRAKES ON MY 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY REQUIRED REPLACEMENT (BRAKES AND ROTORS) WITH 22,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THE BRAKES WERE CHECKED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATIONS, BUT WERE WORN TO THE POINT THEY WERE UNSAFE THREE MONTHS LATER. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2008 CHRYSLERS TOWN AND COUNTRY'S AND SHOULD BE FIXED BECAUSE THERE HAVE BEEN ACCIDENTS CAUSED BY THE BRAKE FAILURES AND THIS IS DUE TO THE POOR QUALITY AND NEGLIGENCE OF CHRYSLER. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH THE ACCELERATED PEDAL WAS STUCK. AS THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED HE HAD TO USE HIS LEFT FOOT TO RELEASE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL FROM THE STUCK POSITION TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN.. THE DEALER OR THE MANUFACTURER HAVE NOT BEEN CONTACTED. ONE COMPLETELY TRASHED ROTOR, ONE SEVERELY GROOVED, HAD BACK BRAKES 'CLEANED' - SHOULDN'T HAVE TO REPLACE BRAKES ON A 1.5 YEAR OLD VEHICLE WITH SO FEW MILES ON IT. TAHOE DOESN'T NEED THEM AT 50K! *TR
NEEDED BRAKE REPLACEMENT ON A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY AFTER ONLY 14K MILES - WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THIS SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING ON ALL T&C BETWEEN 15-18K MILES, WHICH SEEMS LIKE A RECALL IS NEEDED IF THAT IS THE CASE. *TR

A DEALER CONFIRMED THAT NEW BRAKES AND ONE ROTOR WERE NEEDED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED TO-DATE. SHE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS CURRENTLY AWAITING A RESPONSE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 29,400. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 29,200.
SINCE I HAVE PURCHASED MY 2008 TOWN & COUNTRY I HAVE HAD THE SAME REPETITIVE PROBLEMS. SLIDING DOORS NOT WORKING PROPERLY, RADIO DOESN'T SHUT OFF WHEN KEY IS OUT OF IGNITION, VAN TURNS OFF WHILE DRIVING, BRAKES AND ROTORS REPLACED THREE TIMES, AND MOST OF ALL CAR NOT STARTING! WHEN THE KEY IS IN IGNITION I TURN TO START AND IT MAKES A CLICKING SOUND BUT DOESN'T TURN ON. I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT SEVERAL MINUTES TO HALF HOUR CONTINUOUSLY TRYING UNTIL CAR STARTS. I HAVE VIDEO TAPED EACH INCIDENT FOR THE LAST 3 YEARS SHOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY STILL INSIST NOTHING IS WRONG WITH VEHICLE. I HAVE ALERTED CHRYSLER CORPORATE AND FILED A COMPLAINT JULY 2014. *TR
2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY BRAKES SYSTEM. JUST PASSED 25000 AND REQUIRED ALL FOUR BRAKES AND PADS TO BE REPLACED. WE WERE TOLD THAT WE WERE REALLY LUCKY TO HAVE EVEN MADE IT THAT FAR ON THE INITIAL SET. THIS VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW AND WHEN WE TOOK IT IN FOR BURNING SMELL AND SQUEAKS ON THE BRAKES THIS ISSUE WAS DISCOVERED AND WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. PLEADING WITH CHRYSLER CORP AND THE DEALERSHIP RESULTED IN NOTHING OTHER THAN AN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND HAD WE NOT DRIVEN SO GENTLY THEY SHOULD HAVE FAILED 10K MILES EARLIER. MY ONLY HOPE IS TO FILE A COMPLAINT AND HAVE THESE BRAKE PADS RECALLED AS IMPROPER FOR THE VEHICLE. THE REAL ISSUE IS THAT THE REPLACEMENT PADS WILL LAST UPWARDS OF 40K MILES. *TR

DURING WINTER CONDITIONS, THE WIPERS DRAG ACROSS THE ICY AREA AND SMEAR THE CLEAR AREA WITH ICE AND YOU ARE REQUIRED TO STOP UP TO EVERY 4-5 MINUTES TO SCRAPE THE WINDSHIELD WHEN YOU ARE DURING SNOWY CONDITIONS IN THE WINTER. *TR

I WISH TO FILE A COMPLAINT ABOUT THE 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY VANS. THESE VANS WERE PRODUCED WITH SUB STANDARD BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS THAT WEAR OUT VERY PREMATURELY AND RISK CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY. MOST PEOPLE DO NOT EXPECT THEIR VEHICLES BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS TO WEAR OUT AT 18,000 MILES AND AS SUCH COULD IGNORE IMPORTANT SIGNS THAT A PROBLEM IS AHEAD. AT SOME POINT A BRAKE FAILURE IS GOING TO OCCUR AND SOMEONE WILL GET INJURED OR KILLED DUE TO LOSS OF BRAKES. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT CHRYSLER NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL ON IMMEDIATELY. EVIDENTLY THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AS I'VE FOUND IN TALKING WITH ANOTHER T&C OWNER THAT BOUGHT THE SAME MINIVAN AT ABOUT THE SAME TIME WE DID (FALL 2009). HE BOUGHT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR $2000 AND WAS ALERTED TO THIS DEFECT BY THE DEALER (TSB BECAUSE OF HIS EXTENDED WARRANTY) AND THE REPAIR WAS MADE FOR FREE AND NOW HE KNOWS TO CHECK THE BRAKES EVERY 12-20 THOUSAND MILES. UNFORTUNATELY WITHOUT PURCHASING THE $2000 EXTENDED WARRANTY OTHER CONSUMERS WILL NOT BE AWARE OF THE SHORT LIVED BRAKES AND ROTORS AND MAY NOT BOTHER GOING INTO THE DEALER TO GET THEIR BRAKES REPLACED EVERY 20,000 MILES (WHO WOULD THINK THAT YOU WOULD NEED TO REPLACE YOUR BRAKES AND ROTORS THIS FREQUENTLY!). FROM THE RESEARCH I'VE DONE THUS FAR, I SHOULD EXPECT TO CONTINUE TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM FOR THE LIFETIME OF THE VEHICLE WITH NO RECOURSE OTHER THAN TO SELL THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER UNSUSPECTING CONSUMER OR TO CONTINUE TO PAY >$500/ 1-2 YEARS TO REPLACE THE BRAKES IN THIS VEHICLE. IN JAN 2010 AGRINDING NOISE WAS COMING FROM LEFT REAR BRAKES. TOOK INTO DEALER FOR INSP.AND WAS TOLD I NEEDED NEW BRAKES AND ROTORS AT 26,000K. REFUSED SERVICE BECAUSE OF THE 400.00 CHARGE SPOKE TO SERVICE MAN.AND HE SAID THEY HAVE DONE AT LEAST 40 TO 50 BRAKE JOBS ON THE SAME VEHICLE IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS. THEY ADMITTED PROBLEM BUT NO FIX OR RECALL IN SITE. LOOKED ON NUMEROUS FORUMS AND HAVES SEEN THOUSAND OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES, BECAUSE NO NOE SHOULD BE REPLACING BRAKES ON A 40,000 VEHICLE EVERY 10 TO 15,000 MILES. *TR

THE FAILURE RECURRED WHENEVER THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE REAR ROTORS WERE WORN AND WOULD NEED TO BE RESURFACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY THE AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE FAILURE DID NOT RECUR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 16,025.

THE CONTACT FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,948 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 33,249.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 88,457.
