Chrysler aka FCA has recently recalled TPMS sensors of 2022 vehicles but has NOT recalled the 2009 Town and Country TPMS systems. I bought my 2009 Town and Country new and bought the MaxiCare bumper to bumper lifetime no deductible warranty for it. It now has 180,000 miles on it. I've complained to the local dealer on numerous occasions about the TPMS giving false warnings. They have changed components for several years, but the problem has never been resolved. I've given them numerous videos of the false warnings as they happened. They have been unable to resolve the problem even after consulting Chrysler "experts" by setting up STAR Claims with Chrysler Corporation. This is a safety issue. The false audible and dash light warnings take place driving on expressways. The light stays lit for many miles. Then the system resets and the same thing can happen the same day or days or weeks later. The last date was 8/4/22. Attached photos are frames from the 8/4/22 videos I made showing 264.7 Trip Miles Alarm with two normal and two flat tires, 265.4 Trip Miles all 4 tires flat, 299.2 Trip Miles all 4 tires still flat, 341.8 Trip Miles normal display with normal tire pressures shown in all 4 tires after system reset itself.
AS I WAS DRIVING, AND WITH NO DASHBOARD WARNING ALERT, THE BRAKES SUDDENLY SANK TO THE FLOOR. I DROVE EXTREMELY SLOWLY, CONTINUING ON TOWARDS MY APARTMENT, AND EACH TIME I HAD TO STOP, THE BRAKE PEDAL SANK TO THE FLOOR. I MANAGED TO GET HOME SAFELY, BUT THE CAR STILL HAS NO BRAKES.
YELLOW TRIANGLE,ABS,SRS ETC COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY. SCAN DIAGNOSIS SHOWS THAT C2200 ABS MODULE INTERNAL FAILURE, NEEDS SPECIAL PROGRAMMING. THE LIGHT COMES ON WHILE I AM DRIVING AND THEN GOES OFF AGAIN FOR A FEW MILES AND THEN COMES ON AGAIN. BRAKES ARE WORKING FINE, HAD NEW BRAKES ETC PUT ON REAR EARLIER THIS YEAR. THE LIGHT COMES ON WHEN I AM MOVING. THIS HAPPENS ON CITY STREETS.
FOR THE SECOND TIME SINCE OWNING THE CAR I HAD TO REPLACE BOTH REAR BRAKE CALIPERS, BECAUSE THEY SEIZED UP AND THE REAR BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING AT ALL, CAUSING THE FRONT PADS TO WEAR EXCESSIVELY. I FEEL THIS IS A DESIGN DEFECT, UNDERSIZED CALIPERS/BRAKES THAT HEAT UP EXCESSIVELY, CAUSING THEM TO SEIZE. I DRIVE ON FLAT NJ HIGHWAYS, SO THERE IS NO MOUNTAIN DRIVING INVOLVED, THAT COULD OVERHEAT THE BRAKES. THE FIRST TIME, EACH SIZED FAILED SEPARATELY AND THIS RESULTS IN A SAFETY HAZARD, AS IF JUST 1 SEIZES, BOTH REAR BRAKES DO NOT WORK. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SWERVE WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE WAS PERSISTENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (STATELINE CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM, 800 GOLDHILL ROAD FORT MILL, SC 29716) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CALIBERS AND ROTORS WERE WARPED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED EVERY 12,000 MILES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT NO OPEN INVESTIGATIONS WERE OPEN FOR THE DEFECT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 42,300. *JS
THE ABS MODULE AND MASTER CYLINDER SEEM TO HAVE ALREADY GONE. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY PROBLEM AS DESCRIBED BY CHRYSLER COSTING OVER $1000. I'VE READ ONLINE AND I AM NOT THE ONLY HAVING ISSUES WITH MY BRAKES. *TR
I HAVE A 09 CHRYSLER T&C THAT HAS HAD MULTIPLE BRAKES, ROTORS, CALIPERS AND BEARINGS ISSUES. IN FEBRUARY 2015 I HAD TO REPLACE THE REAR BRAKES, CALIPERS, PADS AND ROTORS DUE TO THEM LOCKING UP. I INVESTIGATE THE ISSUE AND FOUND OUT THAT THERE WERE SERVICE BULLETINS THAT STATED THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THEM AND TO REPLACE THEM. CHRYSLER DID THEY RIGHT THING AND REIMBURSED ME FOR THE COST TO REPLACE ALL OF THAT. I NOW FIND MYSELF IN THE SAME SITUATION WITH THE FRONT ONES, SO I DID SOME INVESTIGATION AGAIN AND FOUND A SERVICE BULLETIN ABOUT THE FRON ONES AND TO REPLACE THEM. I CALLED CHRYSLER TO LET THEM KNOW AND THEY TOLD ME TO GET IT TO A CERTIFED DEALERSHIP TO DIAGNOSIS AND THAT THEY COULD POSSIBLE HELP WITH COST ASSISTANCE BUT SINCE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY (X35) EXPIRED IN APRIL 2015, THEY CAN'T GUARANTEE THAT THEY WILL HELP. ( X35 IT AND EXTENTED WARRANTY FOR THIS DUE TO MANY ISSUES THAT COVERS 5 YRS FROM DATE OF MFG OR 90,000 MILES) WELL GUESS WHAT CAME FIRST 5 YRS..... THEY CAR IS UNDRIVABLE DUE TO THIS ISSUE, SO NOW I HAVE TO HAVE IT TOWED FROM MY MECHANCIS TO A CERTIFED DEARLERSHIP THAT I DON'T KNOW OR TRUST.....
THE BRAKES AND BRAKE DISKS OF OUR 09 TOWN & COUNTRY NEED TO BE REPLACED EVERY 10K. THE DEALER KNOWS ABOUT THIS ISSUE, CHRYSLER HAS ISSUED A REPLACEMENT ONCE AND THE OTHER TIMES WE HAD TO ARGUE WITH THEM TO GET IT REPLACED FOR FREE (BOTH FRONT AND BACK, BRAKE PADS AND DISKS). WE ARE NOW AT 48K AND REPLACING THE BRAKES FOR THE 4TH TIME. WE HAVE A OTHER CAR (YUKON XL WITH 86K AND IT NEVER HAD ANY DISKS REPLACED). THE PEOPLE AT THE DEALER FEEL BAD FOR US AND SAY THEY SEE THIS A LOT BUT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER BUT THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO FIX IT, ONLY TO REPLACE IT FOR FREE ONE MORE TIME. THERE ARE A LOT OF REPORTS ABOUT THIS ON THE WEB, AND THIS REALLY WARRANTS A RECALL ON THE BRAKES AND FIX IT FOR REAL. THE BRAKES OVERHEAD AND THIS WARPS THE DISKS. THIS CAN BECOME VERY DANGEROUS IF NOT REPLACED RIGHT AWAY. *TR

I BOUGHT THE MINIVAN USED 11/2012 - 3/2013 BRAKES WERE ACTING UP GRINDING METAL TO METAL - HAD A FRIEND WHO DOES SHOP WORK LOOK AT THEM - ENDED UP REPLACING BOTH REAR CALIPERS, DRUMS AND BRAKES -JUNE 2013 STARTED DOING THE SAME THING - HAD SAME FRIEND LOOK AT THEM - PADS WERE GONE AFTER ONLY 3 MONTHS, HE REPLACED THEM AGAIN - THEY WERE SMOKING, HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO DEALERSHIP - THEY REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING AS I HAD AN UNLICENSED REPAIR DONE - SO I PAID AGAIN TO HAVE THEM REPLACE THE CALIPERS, ROTORS, DRUMS AND BRAKES IN REAR - MY CAR IS IN SHOP AGAIN TODAY FOR REAR CALIPERS, ROTORS AND BRAKES - IT'S 4/2014 - THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE FOR REPEAT CONCERNS WITH BRAKES - DEALERSHIP IS UNABLE TO TELL ME WHY THIS KEEPS REPEATING - *TR

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE BRAKES CHANGED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE REAR BRAKES AND DID NOT FIND A DEFECT WITHIN THE BRAKING SYSTEM TO CAUSE THE REAR BRAKES TO WEAR PREMATURELY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 21,689. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH THE BRAKES FAILED, CAUSING THE CONTACT TO CRASH INTO A TREE AND THE VEHICLE ROLLED OVER. THE CONTACT WAS INJURED AND TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL VIA AMBULANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MECHANIC ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 37,000.
DRIVING 65 MPH AFTER 230 MILE TRIP AND STARTED TO EXIT OFF RAMP WHILE SLOWING DOWN TO ABOUT 30 MPH STARTING TO BRAKE AND GRINDING NOISE BEGAN TO BE HEARD AND VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO STOP PROPERLY. IT SEEMED THAT THE ABS WAS RELEASING ON DRY PAYMENT AND VEHICLE VIBRATED/PULSATED. (NEW BRAKE PADS WERE PUT ON 2 WEEKS AGO AND NEW TIRES ON 8 MONTHS AGO.) CONTINUED TO NEXT STOP AND GO AND NOISE AND BRAKE FAILURE OCCURRED ONCE AGAIN. FORTUNATELY, SPEED WAS ONLY NO ISSUE SINCE IT WAS CITY DRIVING. CONTINUED A FEW MORE BLOCKS AND TURNED RIGHT AND BRAKE FAILURE ONCE AGAIN DUE TO A PEDESTRIAN BOLTING OUT AT INTERSECTION. THERE WAS NO INCIDENT DUE TO PEDESTRIAN STOPPING BEFORE CONTACT. HAPPEN ONE MORE TIME AND HAS NOT HAPPENED IN THE LAST TWO DAYS. THE PULSATING/NOISE/VIBRATION ON EACH OCCURRENCE WAS ON EITHER SIDE OF THE FRONT BUT NOT THE BOTH SIDES AT ONCE. DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE AND HOPEFULLY IS TAKEN CARE BY CHRYSLER BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED. TOOK VEHICLE IN TO HAVE DIAGNOSTICS AND THERE WAS A CODE OF FAILURE. THE FRONT ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS HAVE REPLACED TWICE ON THE VEHICLE. THE BACK ROTORS AND PADS HAVE BEEN REPLACED ONCE AND RESURFACED ONCE. I NOW HAVE 29000 ON THE VEHICLE AND WILL BE BRINGING IN THE VEHICLE AGAIN BECAUSE OF THE SAME VIBRATION IN THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED. *TR

THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND AFTER DEPRESSING THE BRAKES NUMEROUS TIMES, HE WAS ABLE TO GET THE BRAKES TO RELEASE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000.

BRAKES NEEDED REPLACING -ROTORS AND PADS AT 31,180 MILES.. CHRYSLER WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM ON THESE VEHICLES AND HAD OFFERED EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THESE BRAKE REPAIRS/REPLACEMENT. CHRYSLER ACTED PROPERLY AT THIS POINT, BUT DID NOT REALLY FIX THE PROBLEM LONGER TERM AS WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKE ROTORS AND PADS TWICE MORE SINCE THEN. WE ARE CONSERVATIVE DRIVERS AND DO NOT RIDE THE BRAKE OR BRAKE HARSHLY UNLESS THERE IS AN EMERGENCY. OUR VEHICLE NOW HAS ONLY 56,600 MILES ON IT AND TWO MORE FRONT ROTOR AND PAD BRAKE REPLACEMENTS IN THE PAST TWENTY-FIVE THOUSAND MILES IS UNACCEPTABLE AND PERHAPS UNSAFE. WE ARE COMMUNICATING WITH BOTH THE DEALER AND WITH CHRYSLER, BUT BASED ON WHAT WE HAVE READ ONLINE OF OTHERS WITH THIS SAME TYPE PROBLEM, WE ARE NOT EXPECTING HELPFUL RESPONSES FROM EITHER THE DEALER OR CHRYSLER. *TR
REAR ROTORS AND PADS GIVE GRINDING NOISE MOST PRONOUNCED IN COLD WEATHER. JUST LIKE THE RECALLED FRONT ROTORS AND PADS. THE ROOT PROBLEM MOST LIKELY IS INFERIOR QUALITY OF THE ROTOR METAL. SHOULD ADVISE CHRYSLER TO REPLACE ROTORS WITH A SUPERIOR QUALITY ROTOR, NOT JUST A QUICK FIX "CUTTING THE ROTORS", BECAUSE THE CUTTING WILL NOT CURE INFERIOR METAL CONSTITUTION TO BEGIN WITH. *TR
WHILE DRIVING I FIRST EXPERIENCED PREMATURE TIRE WEAR AND WHEN I BOUGHT 4 NEW TIRES ($650 DOLLARS) LATER, I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A LOUD HUMMING NOISE. I RETURNED TO THE TIRE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES WITH A BETTER TIRE BUT THE NOISE CONTINUED. I THEN TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE CAR DEALER AND THEY EXPLAINED THAT I NEEDED NEW BRAKE PADS, ROTORS AND MY WHEEL BEARINGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED! WHAT A SHOCK! WITH ONLY 31,000 MILES, I NEEDED ALL OF THIS TO BE REPAIRED. *TR
