TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR NEVER LOCKED. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS SEATED IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AS IT TRAVELED APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE CONTACT PULLED THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR OPEN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 55,002.
I TOOK MY VAN IN FOR A SIMPLE VALVE CHANGE BECAUSE IT WAS USING A LOT OF OIL ON 2/15/16. A WEEK AND A HALF LATER I RECEIVED MY VAN BACK AND IT STALLED IN FRONT OF A TRACTOR TRAILER TRUCK. VAN WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CLAIMED TO REPAIR /INSTALL NEW GAS PUMP, EGR VALVE, GASKETS, CRANK SENSORS ETC. I RECEIVED MY VAN BACK ON 4/2 CLAIMING EVERYTHING WAS REPAIRED. THE VAN WAS NO LONGER STALLING. ON 4/3 WHILE DRIVING ON THE PARKWAY, IN HEAVY TRAFFIC MY BRAKES, STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND VAN SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. JUST MISSED GOING OVER THE GUARD RAIL. AGAIN TOOK TH VAN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, CONTACTED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE WHICH MADE THE DEALERSHIP OWNER VERY IRATE. MY VAN WAS IN THE DEALERSHIP FROM 2/15 TO JUNE. I GOT THE RUN AROUND ABOUT WE ARE DOING EVERYTHING TO REPAIR YOUR VEHICLE. GUESS WHAT, IT IS STILL NOT REPAIRED THE VAN CONTINUOUSLY STALL ANYTIME YOU MADE A HARD TURN. IT WAS AT THE POINT OF NO RETURN. THE LONGER THE DEALERSHIP HAD IT THE WORSE THE VAN GOT. MEANWHILE ALL OF THIS EXTRA STRESS IS STARTING TO AFFECT MY HEALTH. I PAID FOR A $42,000 VAN AND EVEN CHRYSLER HAS NO IDEA OF HOW TO FIX IT. I GOT FED UP IN JUNE AND ASKED TO HAVE THE VAN RETURNED BACK TO ME. AFTER MORE THAN 3 MONTHS THEY WERE EVER SO HAPPY TO RETURN THE VEHICLE BACK TO ME. AS OF NOW I STILL DON'T HAVE ALL THE RECEIPTS OF EXACTLY WHAT WAS DONE TO THE VAN. ALL I KNOW IS THAT I WOULD NEVER BUY ANOTHER CHRYSLER AGAIN BECAUSE OF THE TREATMENT RECEIVED AND THEIR UNCARING ATTITUDE ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE. AT THIS POINT I FOUND OUT THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS STALLING ISSUE. I FEEL CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF IT AND DON'T KNOW HOW TO GO ABOUT CORRECTING IT. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE DEALERSHIP AT THE TIME ON 2/15 FOR A RECALL FOR THE IGNITION NODE(R03). I DON'T KNOW IF THE RECALL INITIATED ALL THE ACTION OR INCOMPETENCE. I HAVE TOWING RECEIPTS IN EXCESS OF 100 MILES.
2010 CHRYSLER T&C LIMITED W/4.0L ENGINE. ENGINE DIED WHILE DRIVING 40MPH IN TRAFFIC ON 4-LANE ROADWAY. LOST ALL POWER INCLUDING STEERING, BRAKES, AND HEAT (IN MN WINTER). STRONG ARMED STEERING WHEEL TO GET VEHICLE TO SIDE OF ROAD (NO SHOULDER; BLOCKED RIGHT LANE). RESTARTED AND BEGAN DRIVING AGAIN. DIED TWICE MORE IN THE MILE LEFT TO HOME. SOME HISTORY: CHANGED OUT BATTERY ON 01/19/2016 AND EXPERIENCED STALLING WHEN ENGINE WAS STILL COLD AT STOP SIGNS. NEVER STALLED WHILE UNDER POWER; ONLY WHEN COASTING TO STOP SIGN. RAN OKAY WHEN WARMED UP. CLEANED BATTERY TERMINALS, THROTTLE INTAKE AND MAF SENSOR. FINALLY STOPPED STALLING AFTER FOLLOWING ONE-TIME PROCEDURE OF DISCONNECTING BATTERY FOR 10 MINS, STARTING ENGINE AND LETTING IT WARM FOR 25 MINS, ALL WITHOUT TOUCHING THE ACCELERATOR. IDEA WAS TO HAVE ONBOARD COMPUTER RELEARN ENGINE SETTINGS. WORKED FOR A WEEK BEFORE STALLING OCCURRED TODAY WHILE IN TRAFFIC ON MAIN THOROUGHFARE. WIFE NOW REFUSES TO DRIVE IT. WILL TAKE IT TO DEALER, BUT AM SURE THEY WILL TELL ME WHAT THEY TELL EVERYONE ELSE WHO HAS COMPLAINED ON THIS WEBSITE ("CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG!").

THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME FRAME TO SCHEDULE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE DEALER SCHEDULED THE REPAIR IN FEBRUARY OF 2016. UPON THE CONTACT'S ARRIVAL, SHE WAS INFORMED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE DEALER DID NOT GIVE A SPECIFIC DATE FOR WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER COULD NOT PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED DATE FOR WHEN THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WOULD RECEIVE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT WAS EXPERIENCING A POTENTIAL FAILURE CONCERNING THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHAT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS FOR MONTHS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
WHILE OPERATING VEHICLE IT SIMPLY SHUTS OFF. NO WARNING LIGHTS ETC COME ON. THE VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED ON JUNE 8, 2010 IN CANADA. DEALER SAYS "NO RECALLS" ON VEHICLE YET NHTSA RECALL EXTENDS TO VEHICLES PRODUCED TO 6/17/10. DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE ISSUE AND OFFERS NO ASSISTANCE. ISSUE HAS ONLY OCCURRED SHORTLY AFTER STARTING CAR AND IS SPORADIC.
THE VEHICLE HAS LOST POWER TO ALL FUNCTIONAL SYSTEMS DUE TO TIPM SYSTEM FAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS IN OUR GARAGE.
AT RANDOM INTERVALS WHILE WHILE IN MOTION, EITHER ON CITY STREETS OR THE HIGHWAY, THE ELECTRICAL STABILITY CONTROLS FAULT OUT, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO SHUT OFF, AND THE STEERING WHEEL AND BRAKES TO LOCK UP. THE ONLY OPTION IS TO DRIFT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, AND RESTART THE CAR. THIS OCCURS MULTIPLE TIMES THROUGHOUT THE DAY, THOUGH THERE IS NO OFFICIAL DIAGNOSIS FROM CHRYSLER AS TO THE PROBLEM. IT HAS EXPERIENCED THE ISSUE FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS AND HAS GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. A SEPARATE RECALL IS IN EFFECT FOR 2010 TOWN & COUNTRY CARS MANUFACTURED DURING THE FIRST PART OF THE YEAR FOR THIS PROBLEM; HOWEVER VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM JULY-DECEMBER OF THE SAME YEAR HAVE NO RECALL, DESPITE EXHIBITING THE SAME ISSUE. CHRYSLER HAS BEEN UNHELPFUL IN COORDINATING RESTITUTION FOR THE FAULTY SYSTEM, WHICH INDUCES DANGEROUS OPERATING CONDITIONS FOR DRIVERS, ESPECIALLY ON THE HIGHWAY. THOUGH MY FAMILY AND I HAVE NOT YET WRECKED, THIS ISSUE HAS CAUSED MULTIPLE WRECKS FOR OTHERS, AND ACCORDINGLY, NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS.
HARDWARE AND NUT SECURING THE TIRE PRESSURE VALUE TO THE WHEEL CRACKED AND FELL OFF RESULTING IN A RAPID LOSS OF PRESSURE WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY.

THE VAN SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING. NO WARNING, RUNNING FINE, NO LIGHTS BUT JUST SHUTS OFF SUDDENLY WHILE DRIVING. IT WILL START RIGHT BACK UP. CHRYSLER HAS RECALLS FOR HALF THE YEAR ON THIS SAME ISSUE BUT APPARENTLY MY VAN WASN'T AFFECTED IN THE RECALL ALTHOUGH THE SITUATION IS EXACTLY THE SAME. IT'S OCCURRING MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY STARTED A FEW DAYS AGO.

ENGINE STALLED 5 TIMES ALREADY THIS MONTH, WHILE IN MOTION. ONLY LIGHT THAT COMES ON WITH IT IS THE 'ROAD SLIPPERY' PICTURE AND SOME SHOPS STATED THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE IT SINCE THE CAR DOES NOT SHOW UP ALERT /WARNING LIGHTS TO GO FROM. IT STALLED FROM BEING PARKED FOR A WHILE AFTER AT LEAST FROM 5 MINS OF DRIVING. IT STALLED WHILE TURNING AND WHILE IN MOTION. ELECTRICAL POWER IS STILL ON. ENGINE WAS NOT. LOSS OF STEERING. VERY VERY DANGEROUS!! HAVE 3 KIDS AS PASENGERS. LOTS OF COMPLAIN ABOUT IT ON THE INTERNET, BUT HAVEN'T HEARD A THING FROM CHRYSLER AT ALL! LAST HAPPENNED TODAY , JANUARY 27, 2016.
THE VAN WILL HAVE THE IGNITION CUT OFF AND THE STEERING AND BRAKES GET HARD TO OPERATE. THIS USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN TURNING AND YOU HAVE TO PUT VAN IN NEUTRAL WHILE TRYING TO AVOID TRAFFIC AND RESTART IT .THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 7 OR MORE TIMES ALREADY. CHRYSLER HAS A RECALL ON THIS TILL MANUFACTURE DATE OF 6/17 MINE WAS MADE 9/10. AND THEY SAY NO RECALL TO DATE FOR MINE.I DON'T FEEL I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THERE DEFFECTS.

TAKATA RECALL. AT APPROXIMATELY 0850 MOUNTAIN STANDARD TIME ON 12 JAN. 2016 THE IDENTIFIED VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A BROADSIDE ACCIDENT IN RUIDOSO, N.M. REPORT TAKEN BY RUIDOSO POLICE DEPARTMENT. THE CHRYSLER T&C WAS IMPACTED ON THE RIGHT SIDE STARTING AT THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR AND IMPACT CONTINUED REARWARD THROUGH THE RIGHT CARGO DOOR, RIGHT REAR WHEEL WELL. AND CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT REAR CORNER OF THE VEHICLE. THE ROOF IN THE AREA OF THE CARGO DOOR IS DISTORTED AND THE LOWER DOOR FRAME IS BUCKLED THE "B" PILLAR IS BUCKLED INWARD TO THE RIGHT FRONT SEAT AND THE "C" PILLAR IS BUCKLED INWARD. THE INTERIOR PLASTIC BODY PANELS SHATTERED WITH THE IMPACT, RIGHT REAR WINDOW AND FRAME WERE POPPED OUT OF THE BODY. AFTER INITIAL IMPACT FROM THE SECOND VEHICLE THE T&C SPUN 90 DEGREES AND IMPACTED A DITCH AND SNOW BANK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH ENOUGH FORCE TO RELEASE THE ENGINE COOLANT. NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE ACCIDENT WAS ON A CITY STREET AT A "T"INTERSECTION WITH THE OTHER VEHICLE HAVING A STOP SIGN WHICH HE FAILED TO OBSERVE POSSIBLY DUE TO ICY CONDITIONS ON THAT STREET.. COUNTRY CLUB STREET SPEED LIMIT 30MPH SPEED OF T&C ABOUT 25MPH. SPEED LIMIT ON INTERSECTING STREET 25MPH. WE'VE HAD A SPORADIC, REOCCURRING PROBLEM WHERE THE ENGINE SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THE VAN WILL LOSE ACCELERATION, THE POWER STEERING FAILS, (AT LEAST ONE TIME THE POWER BRAKES FAILED AS WELL) AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT ILLUMINATES. AS THESE HAPPEN, YOU REALIZE THAT THEY WERE CAUSED BECAUSE THE ENGINE HAS JUST PERFORMED AN UNCOMMANDED (BY THE DRIVER) SHUTDOWN. UNFORTUNATELY, NONE OF THESE SYMPTOMS ARE NECESSARILY IMMEDIATELY OBVIOUS. FOR INSTANCE, WHEN TRAVELING STRAIGHT (NOT USING POWER STEERING), AT LOW SPEEDS (NOT ACCELERATING), THE FIRST INDICATION OF FAILURE IS THAT THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT HAS ILLUMINATED. THE FAR MORE CONCERNING ISSUE IS WHEN YOU REALIZE THAT THE ENGINE (AND SYSTEMS) HAS FAILED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO TURN THROUGH AN INTERSECTION. AFTER THE ENGINE FAILS IT WILL RESTART IMMEDIATELY. THE ISSUE IS CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE -AFTER LOSING POWER STEERING, THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE, TRACTION CONTROL, AND BRAKES - THROUGH THE FAILURE, IN TRAFFIC, OFTEN ON CONTAMINATED ROADS (RAIN, SNOW, OR ICE ARE COMMON FALL THROUGH EARLY SPRING WHERE WE LIVE) TO BE ABLE TO SAFELY RESTART THE ENGINE. THIS PROBLEM BEGAN TWO YEARS AGO. IT HAPPENED A FEW TIMES IN THE WINTER OVER A COUPLE WEEK SPAN AND THEN WENT AWAY. THE NEXT FALL (8-9) MONTHS LATER IT BEGAN DOING IT AGAIN. THE OCCURRENCES THIS TIME WERE MORE FREQUENT. WE WERE TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE OUR FAILURES DUE TO THE INTERMITTENT NATURE OF THE PROBLEM. AFTER A SEVERAL WEEKS, THE FAILURES STOPPED. NOW AT THE END OF SUMMER, IT'S BEEN PROBABLY 9-10 MONTHS SINCE THE LAST OCCURRENCE, IT HAS STARTED AGAIN. SEVERAL OCCURRENCES IN THE LAST WEEK. FROM WHAT WE CAN REMEMBER, THE FAILURES OCCUR WITH THE FIRST SEVERAL MINUTES OF THE TRIP (SOMETIMES MORE THAN ONE WITHIN A FEW MINUTES) AND USUALLY AT LOWER SPEEDS. WE CAN'T REMEMBER AN EVENT ABOVE 40 MPH.

I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 50 MPH ON A STRAIGHTAWAY (CITY STREET) WHEN I NOTICED THE SPEED REDUCING. THEN, I NOTICED CRUISE CONTROL HAD TURNED OFF AND THE ESP LIGHT TURNED ON. POWER STEERING THEN WAS GONE AND POWER BRAKES. I STEERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE CAR. ALL WAS FINE AFTER RESTARTING. MY THEORY IS THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH FAILURE THAT WAS CITED IN THE ABOVE STATED RECALL APPLIES TO NOT JUST VEHICLES MANUFACTURED BEFORE JUNE 2010 BUT APPLIES TO THIS VEHICLE, AS WELL. THIS WAS THE THIRD INCIDENCE.

THIS IS FROM AN ON GOING ISSUE THEY CHRYSLER WAS WARNED ABOUT BEFORE IT HAPPENED THEY FAILED TO PROCEED TO TAKE PROPER ACTION AND PUT MY FAMILY AT RISK OF DEATH.
