TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 11V139000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED. APPROXIMATELY ONE WEEK LATER, THE IGNITION WOULD NOT RETURN TO THE ON POSITION UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE. THE DEFROST SYSTEM, HEADLIGHTS, WINDSHIELD WIPERS, AND THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PANEL WERE INOPERABLE AS A RESULT. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT OR DURING THE RAIN BECAUSE THE HEADLIGHTS AND WINDSHIELD WIPERS NO LONGER FUNCTIONED. THE DEALER WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, THE WERE UNABLE TO PERFORM ANY REPAIRS UNTIL THE MANUFACTURER APPROVED OF THEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 20,000. UPDATED 09/07/11 *BF UPDATED 2/23/12 *CN
I TOOK MY 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY LIMITED MINI VAN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE IGNITION SWITCH MODIFIED BASED ON A RECALL NOTICE FROM CHRYSLER. WHEN THE CAR WAS RETURNED THE SWITCH WAS SO DIFFICULT TO TURN I CALLED TO COMPLAIN. MY HUSBAND RETURNED WITH THE VAN ON 8/2/2011 AND WAS TOLD THAT WAS THE RECALL REPAIR. WHEN MY HUSBAND LEFT THE DEALER THE SWITCH PREVENTED THE TURN SIGNALS FROM FUNCTIONING BECAUSE IT IS DIFFICULT TO GET THE SWITCH OFF OF THE "START" POSITION AND ON TO THE "ON" POSITION. THERE WAS ALSO NO RADIO FUNCTION. IN THE "START" POSITION THIS CAUSES ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH THE FUNCTION OF THE CAR, WHICH THE RECALL WAS SUPPOSE TO FIX. THE DEALER STATED THAT IN ORDER TO DO THE RECALL THIS IS THEY WAY THE SWITCH HAS TO WORK AND THAT THIS IS THE WAY THE SWITCHES ARE INSTALLED IN THE 2011 MODELS AS WELL. HE STATED THAT THE DESIGN OF THE KEY PREVENTS ANY STANDARD TYPE OF IGNITION SWITCH FROM BEING INSTALLED AND THAT CHRYSLER DOES NOT OFFER THE PUSH BUTTON IGNITION FOR THIS MODEL VAN. I MUST EITHER ACCEPT THIS RECALL REPAIR OR RISK THAT MY CAR MAY SHUT ITSELF OFF DURING OPERATION. I HAD THE RECALL REPAIR DONE BECAUSE I BEGAN HAVING AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH MY RADIO GOING OFF FOR NO APPARENT REASON. *TR
REAR SLIDING DOORS ON BOTH SIDES HAVE ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS SHUT ON THEIR OWN AFTER BEING OPENED BY ME EITHER WITH REMOTE OR USING THE DOOR HANDLE. ME AND GRANDKIDS HAVE GOTTEN STRUCK BY DOOR AS IT IS COMING BACK. DOOR WILL NOT SENSE THAT SOMEONE OR SOMETHING IS IN THE OPENING. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE THAT I CAN'T LET GO ON ANY LONGER. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH THE CONTACT HEARD A GRINDING NOISE WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND WAS MORE NOTICEABLE AT HIGHER SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHERE THE TECHNICIAN SUGGESTED THE BRAKES BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000.
LEFT REAR BRAKE HOWLING. IT HAS GOTTEN WORSE TO NOW WHERE THE LD BAKE CALIPER AND ROTOR MUST BE REPLACED. THE RIGHT REAR IS LIKELY NOT WORKING AS THE ROTOR IS RUSTY. THE FRONT BRAKE PADS ARE 1/2 OR MORE WORN OUT. THE CAR HAS ONLY 9400 MILES ON IT. CHRYSLER SAYS THE 36 MONTH WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED AND I AM NOW TOTALLY RESPONSIBLE. LESS THAN 10,000 MILES AND THE BRAKES ARE SHOT! . *TR
I HAVE JUST READ WAY TOO MANY IDENTICAL COMPLAINTS. I BOUGHT THE HIGH END MODEL AND AT 17000 OR POSSIBLY BEFORE WE NOTICED THE BRAKES WOULD PULSATE AT EVEN LOW MILES ESPECIALLY AFTER THE VEHICLE WOULD BE DRIVEN A WHILE. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY INFORMED ME THE SAME AS EVERYONE ELSE THAT THE FRONT ROTORS WERE WARPED AND NEEDED REPLACED OR TURNED. THEY WERE ONLY COVERED FOR 12K MILES...AND WOULD NOT COVER. THIS VEHICLE GOES NO WHERE...I HAVE A STAY AT HOME WIFE WHO MIGHT PUT 15-20 MILES A DAY ON AVERAGE ON THIS VEHICLE. I TOOK IT IN AN HAD THE ROTORS TURNED AND NEW PADS PUT ON....THE BRAKES ACTED UP THE SAME DAY I PICKED UP THE VAN. "REALLY" ..... A 40K VAN AND THE BRAKING SYSTEM HAS MAJOR ISSUES. HOW IS THIS PROBLEM NOT BEING RECALLED!! *TR
WE RECEIVED SAFETY RECALL L25 FOR OUR 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY VAN. OUR DEALER INDICATES THERE ARE VERY LIMITED PARTS AVAILABLE AND THEY WOULD CALL US WHEN THEY GET THE PART IN, BUT THERE ARE 30 PEOPLE WAITING AHEAD OF US. WE ARE CONCERNED AS OUR VAN ENGINE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ON JULY 21 AND WE HAD TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTART THE ENGINE. THANK GOODNESS WE WERE NOT ON AN EXPRESSWAY. WHAT CAN WE DO TO GET THE REPLACEMENT PART SO WE DO NOT END UP HAVING AN ACCIDENT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED ON THE FOLLOWING DAY. THE IGNITION WOULD NOT AUTOMATICALLY CHANGE FROM ON TO START AND THE CONTACT HAD TO DO THIS MANUALLY. AS A RESULT, THE RADIO, AIR CONDITIONER, AND WINDSHIELD WIPERS WOULD NOT FUNCTION. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY COULD NOT REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS THEN NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WERE UNSURE OF HOW TO INFORM THE DEALER TO REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO ADVISED TO CONTINUE DRIVING THE VEHICLE UNTIL THEY COULD FIND A SOLUTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,291.
ON JULY 13 2011 WE PURCHASED A 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY WITH 28500 MILES. TWICE THIS MONTH, MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING. ONE OF THE TIMES IT HAPPENED WHILE SHE PULLED INTO A BUSY STREET AND WAS VERY LUCKY TO NOT HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. WE KNOW THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES AND THAT A RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED. WE TOOK THE VAN TO LEE AUTOMOTIVE IN FORT WALTON BEACH FLORIDA, AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD TAKE A LOOK AT IT. 8 HOURS LATER I PICKED THE VAN UP. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, THEY TEST DROVE IT FOR ONLY 2 MILES. THEY SAID THEY LOOKED AT THE IGNITION AND THAT THE RIGHT COMPONENTS ARE IN PLACE. SO AFTER 8 HOURS THEY DID NOT FIX ANYTHING. CALLED CHRYSLER CORP. AND THEY TOLD US THAT THEIR DATABASE SHOWS THAT OUR VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN SERVICED TO CLOSE THE RECALL AND THAT IT IS STILL SHOWING AN OPEN RECALL SUSPENSE. ACCORDING TO THE NHTSA RECALL, THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO REPLACE THE WIN IGNITION MODULE WHICH THEY DID NOT DO. WE HAVE FOUR CHILDREN AND ARE VERY SCARED TO DRIVE OUR VAN. WE DO NOT KNOW WHERE ELSE TO TURN AND ARE HOPING TO BE POINTED IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE AND BE ABLE TO GET ON THE ROAD WITHOUT FEAR. *TR
FAULTY BRAKES AT LOW VEHICLE MILEAGE. APPLYING BRAKES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS RESULTS IN EXCESSIVE VEHICLE SHUDDER PROBABLY DUE TO WARPED ROTORS. THIS IN TURN RESULTS IN HIGHER THAN NORMAL STOPPING DISTANCES. MY FAMILY AND I HAVE 5 CHRYSLER GROUP VEHICLES, 2008 THRU 2010, ALL WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, SOME WITH MILEAGE AS LOW AS 5000 MILES. MY CHRYSLER MINIVAN CURRENTLY HAS ABOUT 10000 MILES. THE DEALER SAID THEY WOULD NORMALLY FIX IT UNDER WARRANTY, BUT SINCE IT HAS BEEN IN SERVICE FOR MORE THAN 12 MONTHS, THEY CAN'T/WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. BRAKES ARE ONLY COVERED FOR 12MO OR 12000 MILES. IN MY OPINION THIS IS A PRODUCT DEFICIENCY AND, MORE IMPORTANTLY, A SAFETY DEFECT THAT CHRYSLER HAS HAD ON VARIOUS MODELS FOR A NUMBER OF MODEL YEARS. THESE VEHICLES SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER RECEIVING NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER RECALL 10356632 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:SWITCH) AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER HAVING THE REPAIRS DONE, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THEY WERE WAITING FOR ANOTHER RECALL TO BE ISSUED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 16,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE RECALL PART HAD CAUSED MORE PROBLEMS WITH MY VEHICLE THAN THE ORIGINAL PART. PRIOR TO THE RECALL WE DIDN'T HAVE ANY KNOWN ISSUES WITH THE IGNITION . NOW THE REPLACEMENT PART INTERFERE WITH TURNING ON THE CAR AND WE MUST WIGGLE THE IGNITION AROUND IN ORDER TO GET THE AIR CONDITIONING AND RADIO, NAV SYSTEM TO FUNCTION. PART DOESN'T FEEL LIKE IT FITS PROPERLY. UPDATED 10/12/2011 *LN *TR
I PURCHASED A USED 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY MINI-VAN IN MAY OF 2011. DURING THE TEST-DRIVE, I NOTED A PULSATING IN THE BRAKES AND, AS A CONDITION OF SALE, ASKED THAT THE BRAKES BE REPAIRED. ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED, AND THE ROTORS WERE "TURNED". UPON DELIVERY OF THE VEHICLE, I FOUND THE BRAKES TO BE OPERATING WITHOUT THE PULSATING. HOWEVER, AFTER THE PURCHASE, I FOUND THE PULSATING TO CONTINUE TO OCCUR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, AND THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN FOR REPAIR. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE ROTORS, AND THAT THE ROTOR HAD BEEN REPLACED. ONCE AGAIN, I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP, NOTING SMOOTH BRAKE OPERATION. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 2 WEEKS, I BEGAN TO NOTICE THE PULSATING ONCE AGAIN AT HIGHWAY-SPEED BRAKING. ON SATURDAY, JULY 9TH, I WAS DRIVING ON A RURAL HIGHWAY. WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY, I SUDDENLY BEGAN TO HEAR A RUBBING NOISE, ACCENTUATED BY A RHYTHMIC KNOCKING SOUND. I REDUCED SPEED BY LETTING OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND CONTINUED TO LISTEN TO THE NOISE, TRYING TO DETERMINE EXACTLY WHERE IT WAS COMING FROM. I NEXT HEARD THE SOUND OF SOMETHING REBOUNDING OFF THE UNDERCARRIAGE, AND MADE THE DECISION TO STOP. UPON APPLYING THE BRAKES, I WAS MET WITH EXTREME SHUDDERING/PULSATING FROM THE BRAKES AS I PULLED TO THE SHOULDER. AS I INCREASED PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, A GRINDING NOISE COMMENCED FROM THE FRONT RIGHT AREA, AND SHORTLY AFTER THE VEHICLE CAME TO A FORCED STOP, AS THOUGH THE WHEELS HAD LOCKED UP. ON INSPECITION, IT APPEARED THE RIGHT FRONT BRAKE CALIPER HAD BROKE LOOSE, SHEERED AWAY SOME OF THE METAL FROM INNER PORTION OF THE RIM, AND THEN LODGED ITSELF AGAINST THE RIM, FORCING THE WHEEL TO LOCK IN PLACE. WE WERE VERY FORTUNATE THAT, AT THE TIME, WE WERE ON A RURAL HIGHWAY AND HAD TIME TO REDUCE SPEED BEFORE FORCFULLY BRAKING. HAD THIS OCCURRED AT A HIGHER SPEED, IN HEAVIER TRAFFIC, I FEAR THE OUTCOME MAY HAVE BEEN DRASTICALLY DIFFERENT. MY INFANT SON WAS IN THE VAN AT THE TIME. *TT

THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR BRAKE PADS WERE WORN AND THE ROTORS WERE OUT-OF-ROUND. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND A COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. BRAKES STARTED SHUDDERING AT 7,550. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP. VERIFIED CONCERN, FOUND FRONT BRAKE ROTORS WARPED. "RUNOUT" ON LEFT FRONT ROTOR AND RIGHT FRONT ROTOR. PROBLEM PERSISTED. REMOVED AND REPLACED FRONT BRAKE ROTORS. WE REPLACED THE FRONT ROTORS (DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT COVER). VEHICLE BACK TO DEALERSHIP AT 19,012 MILES, BRAKES SHUDDERING AGAIN. REAR ROTORS WARPED (DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT COVER), WE REPLACED REAR ROTORS. BRAKE SHUDDER AGAIN AT 24,806, RETURNED ONCE AGAIN TO DEALERSHIP. ACKNOWLEDGED PULSATION. NOTHING DONE. WE KEPT THE 2ND SET OF ROTORS FROM THE FRONT. WILL CONTINUE TO KEEP PARTS. WE HAVE A SMALL CHILD THAT RIDES IN THE CAR DAILY. EXTREMELY CONCERNED REGARDING SAFETY. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 25 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS HOWEVER, THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED IF THE DEALER COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE, THEN THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 51,400.
ON JULY 5TH, 2011 THE ABOVE MENTIONED CHRYSLER VAN LEFT THE HIGHWAY AT A SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 65 MILES AN HOUR AND ENTERED A DRAINAGE BASIN. THE VEHICLE CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP WHEN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE CAME INTO CONTACT WITH AN EARTH "BERM" THAT ACTED AS A WALL FOR THE DRAINAGE BASIN. THE ENTIRE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED TO A POINT THAT IT WAS CONSIDERED TO BE A TOTAL LOSS BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE RADIATOR WAS PUSHED BACK INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND THE FRONT BUMPER WAS PULLED COMPLETELY UNDER THE VEHICLE. TWO TIRES WERE FLATTENED AND SOME MINOR BODY DAMAGE WAS DONE TO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AS WELL. BUT, NOT A SINGLE AIR BAG DEPLOYED DURING, OR AFTER THIS INCIDENT.

AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE. ACCORDING TO THE RECALL NOTICE, THE PARTS WERE SUPPOSED TO BE MADE AVAILABLE ON JULY 15, 2011. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER ONLY MADE AVAILABLE TWO SETS OF PARTS PER DEALER AND THAT ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY OTHER VEHICLES WERE SCHEDULED TO HAVE THE SAME REPAIRS PERFORMED. MY 2010 TOWN & COUNTRY 19K MILES NOW STARTING TO CUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. IT IS GETTING WORST, WHEN GOING DOWN INCLINES AND COMING OUT OF DRIVEWAYS THE VAN CUTS OFF. I AM NOW SCARED TO DRIVE IT. *TR

I WAS PUTTING THE STOW AND GO SEAT (BEHIND DRIVER'S SEAT) INTO THE STORAGE COMPARTMENT. I WAS HOLDING UP THE FLOOR BOARD FLAP IN MY LEFT HAND AND USED MY RIGHT HAND TO LIFT THE FOLDED SEAT INTO THE FLOOR COMPARTMENT. AS I FOLDED THE SEAT INTO THE COMPARTMENT, MY RING FINGER ON RIGHT HAND GOT WEDGED OR CAUGHT IN THE SEAT MECHANISM. I COULD NOT GET THE FINGER OUT. I RETURNED THE SEAT TO THE UPRIGHT POSITION THINKING THAT THE FINGER WOULD BECOME LOOSE AND I COULD REMOVE IT. IT STILL WOULD NOT COME OUT. I WAS IN OUR GARAGE AND MY WIFE WAS AWAY.
