FAILURE OF FRONT AND REAR BRAKE PADS AT 18,000 MILES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A BEEPER ON THE REAR LIFT GATE OF CERTAIN MODELS THAT WAS NOT ON HIS VEHICLE. THE BEEPER WOULD WARN ANYONE WHEN THE GATE WAS GOING UP OR DOWN. SINCE THIS FUNCTION WAS NOT ON HIS PARTICULAR MODEL YEAR, HE HAS BEEN INJURED BY THE GATE COMING DOWN ON HIS HEAD. THE INJURY WAS NOT SERIOUS. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER AND THEY ADVISED HIM THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO CHANGE THE SOFTWARE AND ADVISED HIM THAT THE THEY RECEIVED A LARGE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS IN REGARDS TO CONSUMERS NOT WANTING THE FEATURE, SO THEY DID NOT INSTALL IT ON THE 2010 MODELS. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 200. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I TOOK MY 2010 BRAND NEW CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY VAN IN FOR A RECALL ON THE DEFECT FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH. AFTER CHRYSLER REPLACED THE SWITCH IT WILL NOT RETURN TO THE ON POSITION AFTER YOU START THE VAN. SO THE WIPERS, DEFROSTER AND HEADLIGHTS WILL NOT WORK. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL CLOSE CALLS WITH MY SON AND WIFE DRIVING THE VAN HOME IN THIS CONDITION. CHRYSLER IS INSTALLING DEFECTIVE SWITCHES IN VANS TO SOLVE ONE SAFETY PROBLEM AND CAUSING OTHERS. CHRYSLER WILL NOT REPAIR THE IGNITION AT THIS TIME AND HAS TOLD ME TO JUST KEEP CALLING THEM TO SEE IF A SOLUTION COMES ABOUT. THEY SHOULD NOT BE PUTTING DEFECTIVE IGNITION SWITCHES IN TO START WITH. *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES SUSTAINED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE IGNITION KEY FAILED TO ENGAGE INTO THE VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE BODY DAMAGE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V139000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V373000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000.
