LEFT HAND SLIDING DOOR OPENS AND CLOSES WHILE VEHICLE IS AT REST WITH NO ONE IN THE VEHICLE. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING SPORADICALLY FOR 2 MONTHS.
I PARK MY CAR AND WALK AWAY WHEN I RETURN TO THE VEHICLE THE WINDOWS ARE ALL THE WAY DOWN. AS WELL AS THE VAN WILL SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE KEY WILL BE STUCK IN THE IGNITION. I HAVE NOTHING TO PROVE THIS EXCEPT WET SEATS WHEN ITS RAINING.
MY WIFE WAS BACKING OUT OF A DRIVEWAY, THE ENGINE SHUT OFF AND THE POWER BRAKES AND POWER STEERING DIDN'T WORK. THE VEHICLE DRIFTED INTO THE ROAD BECAUSE SHE WAS UNABLE TO STOP IN TIME. THERE WERE NO OTHER CARS INVOLVED IN THE INCIDENT.
MY CAR COMPLETELY LOCKS UP ON ME WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. BEFORE THE ENGINE WASN'T SHUTTING OFF. NOW IT IS. MY WHEEL LOCKS UP AND WILL NOT RESET UNLESS I TURN THE CAR OFF. I HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR TO 2 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS AS WELL AS ANOTHER WELL TRUSTED MECHANIC. NO ONE CAN FIND THE ISSUE. ALL THE CODES ARE FINE, THERE ARE NO LEAKS, AND THE POWER STEERING FLUID IS GOOD. I HAVE 4 SMALL CHILDREN AND THIS HAS ALREADY HAPPENED ON 4 SEPARATE OCCASIONS WITH THEM IN THE CAR. THANK GOD WE HAVE NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THIS HAPPENING. THIS MORNING I SAT AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR 4 HOURS TO TELL ME THEY CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. I LEAVE THE DEALERSHIP AND THE CAR LOCKS UP ON ME AGAIN AND SHUTS DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. WHY CAN'T ANY ONE HELP ME OR DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM?!? WE PAID BIG BUCKS FOR THIS CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY! I EXPECT ANSWERS AND THE ISSUE TO GET FIXED!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TWO LOCAL DEALERS: AUTONATION CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM NORTH RICHLAND HILLS (7740 NE LOOP 820, FORT WORTH, (817) 522-4981) AND AUTONATION CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM NORTH FORTH WORTH (11200 NORTH FREEWAY, FORTH WORTH, (817) 642-7894) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 154,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHEN I WAS DRIVING MY CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY GOING 15 TO 35 MPH DOWN THE SIDE STREETS THE VEHICLE WOULD JUST SHUT OFF WITH NO WARNING. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHTER DIDN'T COME ON AND THE KEY DIDN'T MOVE IN THE IGNITION. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND THE FIXED THE PROBLEM AFTER I PAID $526.23. I WAS LOOKING THRU THE RECALLS FOR THIS SPECIFIC VEHICLE AND SURE ENOUGH THAT EXACT PROBLEM HAPPENED TO ENOUGH VEHICLES THEY DID A MASSIVE RECALL BUT MY VEHICLE WAS MADE 2 MONTHS BEFORE THE YEAR THEY RECALLED THE VEHICLES SO THEY WON'T REIMBURSE ME. IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE IF THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO ALL THOSE OTHER YEAR MAKE AND MODELS AND MY VAN JUST SO HAPPENED TO HAVE THAT SAME PROBLEM AND WAS MANUFACTURED 2 MONTHES BEFORE THE RECALL YEAR! THE RECALL NUMBERS IS L25.
THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME 3 TIMES WITHIN THE LAST FEW MONTHS. AT RANDOM TIMES. I WAS DRIVING 25 MILES OR UNDER WHEN MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED WHILE DRIVING. IT HAPPENED TWICE IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD AND ONCE ON A CITY STREET COMING UP TO AN INTERSECTION. I WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE WHEEL AT ALL! MY TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT ON MY DASH BOARD CAME ON AS WELL. I CAME TO A STOP. TURNED THE CAR OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS NO LONGER LOCKED AND DASH LIGHT WAS NO LONGER ON. WENT BACK TO NORMAL WITH NO ISSUES. VERY CONCERNING!
MY CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY 2010 I HAVE OWNED FOR A YEAR. 3 MONTHS AGO IT STARTED ACTING LIKE A POSED VAN. IT HAPPENS 1 OUT OF EVERY 3 TIMES I DRIVE IT. THE WARNING LIGHTS FOR TRACTION FLICKERS THE RADIO GOES OFF AND ON. THE SPEEDOMETER AND RPM TURNS OFF. THEN SOMETIMES IT WILL COME BACK ON. AT NIGHT IF THIS OCCURS THE LIGHTS WILL GO OFF AND ON. IT TURNS OFF ON ME SOMETIMES AND LIKE EVERYONE ELSE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES GO OUT. THE DEALER I TOOK IT TO SAYS THE IPDM UNIT NEEDS REPLACING. PART# 4692305AI. HE QUOTED ME A PRICE OF 1400. WHEN I REFUSED HE CHARGED ME 220 TO GET MY CAR BACK. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM.
WHEN FILLING UP AT ANY GAS STATION, FUEL SPITS OUT OF THE FILLER NECK AND RUNS DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND ONTO THE GROUND.
THE VAN STALLS OUT WHILE DRIVING AROUND 20 TO 30 MILES PER HOUR.
VEHICLE STARTED HAVING ISSUES IN 2014. VEHICLE JUST WOULD NOT CRANK ONE MORNING. GOT A JUMP START AND TOOK IT TO AUTOZONE AND GOT A NEW BATTERY. ABOUT 3 MONTHS LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED. GOT A JUMP START, WENT TO AUTOZONE AND THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH BATTERY, ALTERNATOR OR STARTER. AUTOZONE GAVE ME A NEW BATTERY ANYWAY. ABOUT 4 MONTHS LATER, HAPPENED AGAIN. BROUGHT VEHICLE TO CHRYSLER FOR WIN MODULE RECALL FIX AND EXPLAINED WHAT WAS HAPPENING. THEY SAID HANDLING THE RECALL AND A NEW BATTERY SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. ABOUT 2 MONTHS LATER, HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. CHRYSLER REPLACE WIN MODULE AGAIN AND I GOT CHRYSLER TO REPLACE BATTERY AT THIS TIME AS I EXPLAINED THAT THE BATTERY WAS BEING AFFECTED DUE TO THE PART THAT WAS BEING RECALLED. ALL WAS FINE FOR ABOUT A YEAR OR SO AND THEN STARTED HAPPENING AGAIN. BROUGHT IT BACK TO CHRYSLER AND THEY SAID BATTERY HAD A DEAD CELL. I EXPLAINED THAT THEY HAD JUST PUT THE BATTERY IN ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND IT SHOULD BE UNDER WARRANTY. THEY TOLD ME, "WE DON'T DO WARRANTY REPLACEMENTS ON WARRANTY REPLACEMENTS". SO, I AM JUST DEALING WITH THE BATTERY RIGHT NOW. MOST RECENTLY, ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO, DASH BOARD WARNING LIGHTS STARTED ALL COMING IN AT THE SAME TIME. THEN THEY WOULD ALL GO OFF AND ONE SIDE OF THE DASH ILLUMINATION WOULD GO OUT. NEXT START UP, ILLUMINATION WOULD BE FINE AGAIN. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES OVER A COUPLE OF MONTHS. THEN, ONE DAY WHILE DRIVING, THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT, THE TRACTION LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF! WAS ABLE TO PUT VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND RESTART. THIS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES IN A MONTH, BUT WAS ALWAYS OK AFTER ONE RESTART. NOW, IT KEEPS HAPPENING AND ONLY LASTS A FEW MINUTES BEFORE NEEDING TO BE RESTARTED AGAIN. AFRAID THAT THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN WHILE TURNING ACROSS ONCOMING TRAFFIC OR IN A SITUATION WHERE WE CAN NOT PULL OVER TO SAFETY AND WILL GET REAR-ENDED.
ENGINE STALLS IN THE FIRST 5 MINUTES OF DRIVING. SOMETIMES IT IS DIFFICULT TO RESTART, OTHER TIMES NOT DIFFICULT TO RESTART. OCCURS 20 MPH OR SLOWER. USUALLY WHILE SLOWING TO STOP OR TURN. HAS BEE HAPPENING INTERMIITANTLY SINCE JANUARY.

AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE SECURITY INDICATOR SENSOR BLINKED OFF AND ON, AND THE ESP, TRACTION STABILITY CONTROL, AND BAS SENSOR INDICATORS REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,898.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S DOOR, FRONT PASSENGER DOOR, AND THE SLIDING DOORS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SECURE ELECTRONICALLY. THE CONTACT HAD TO CONSTANTLY CHECK THE KEY FOB TO ENSURE THAT THE DOORS WERE SECURED. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE KEY FOB FAILED TO SECURE THE DOORS AND THEY HAD TO BE CLOSED MANUALLY. IN ADDITION, THE REAR SLIDING DOORS FAILED TO ELECTRONICALLY REMAIN CLOSED AND OPENED AFTER BEING CLOSED SEVERAL TIMES. THE DEALER (MONTGOMERY CHEVROLET, 5325 PRESTON HWY, LOUISVILLE, KY 40213, (502) 968-6111) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 136,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V373000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 163,000.
WIRELESS IGNITION NODE FAILURE CAUSED VEHICLE TO SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ON 3 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS . SEE 14V-373 AKA CHRYSLER RECALL R03. LOSS OF POWER TO BRAKING AND STEERING SYSTEMS IS A CLEARLY DANGEROUS MALFUNCTION. OTHER SYMPTOMS EXHIBITED ARE FAILURE TO START IN PARK BUT WILL IN NEUTRAL AND FAILURE TO SHUT OFF ENGINE WITH KEY REMOVED. TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSIS POINTS TO DEFECTIVE WIN. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN OFF USING THE KEY, FAILED TO START, AND STALLS WHILE DRIVING. *JS
MY VEHICLE ALMOST DAILY WILL STALL OUT AND DIE WHILE IN MOTION ON ROADWAYS. THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON, THE POWER STEERING FAILS AND THE CAR DIES. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT ANY SPEED AND OFTEN TIMES MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY. THE RADIO AND OTHER COMPONENTS WILL REMAIN ON BUT I HAVE TO TURN IT OFF AND PUMP IT TO GET IT TO RESTART. THE LAST COUPLE OF TIMES THERE WAS A FAINT SMELL OF WIRES BURNING. WE HAVE HAD IT IN TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES TO THIS POINT AND THE ANSWER IS ALWAYS THE SAME. "NO CODES COME UP WHEN WE CONNECT IT". LAST WEEK WE WERE TOLD TO BRING IT BACK WHEN IT DOESN'T RESTART FOR US. EVIDENTLY A CODE WILL COME UP AT THAT POINT. THERE WILL BE A TIME WHEN WE ARE DRIVING IN A PLACE WHERE ARE ONLY PLACE TO BAIL OUT IS IN THE GRASS OR POPPING A CURB TO AVOID GETTING HIT FROM BEHIND. THE MOVING TO NEUTRAL AND TRYING TO RESTART IS NOT WORKING FOR EITHER MY WIFE OR I. I HAVE SEEN HUNDREDS OF FORUMS THAT LIST THIS AS A CURRENT COMPLAINT WITH THIS YEAR RANGE OF TOWN AND COUNTRY'S. THIS IS CLEARLY THE MOST REPORTED T&C ISSSUE GOING ON NOW. WE NEED A SOLUTION BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED.
WHILE DRIVING UNDER 40 MILES AN HOUR THE CAR WILL STALE WITH NO WARNING AT ALL. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER AND THERE IS NO ERROR CODE. I HAVE READ REVIEWS OF A POSSIBLE BAD EGR VALVE BUT THAT THIS MAY NOT BE THE PROBLEM. TOOK IT TO ANOTHER MECHANIC AND HE THINKS IT COULD HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH SLIPPING. NOT SURE THE ISSUE BUT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AS IS. THE CAR LOOSES POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES WHEN IT STALLS. HAD THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS REPLACED LAST YEAR BECAUSE THE DEALER SAID THAT WAS THE ISSUE BUT PROBLEM HAS STILL PERSISTED OVER THE PAST YEAR BUT NOT ALL THE TIME SO IT'S BEEN HARD TO DETECT. THIS PROBLEM NEVER HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS STATIONARY OR DRIVING OVER 40 MPH. IT'S ALWAYS WHILE CITY DRIVING UNDER 40.
MY VEHICLE POWERS OFF FOR NO REASON WHILE DRIVING. IT'S BEEN DOING THIS FOR OVER A YEAR AND I'VE SPEND HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT'S WRONG. NOW IT'S DEAD EVERY MORNING WHEN WE TRY TO START IT. SERVICE CENTER SAYS IT IS THE TIPM AND WILL COST 1200.00 TO REPLACE.
RANDOMLY LOSES POWER, SOMETIMES A SPLIT SECOND, OTHER TIMES A COMPLETE SHUT DOWN AND DOESN'T LET KEY GO. SOMETIMES IT CAUSES THINGS TO STOP WORKING, LIKE CRUISE CONTROL. MORE OFTEN WHEN LIGHTS ARE ON AND OTHER THINGS USED, LIKE A/C OR TURN SIGNALS. SOMETIMES WHEN ONLY LIGHTS ARE USED, AND SOMETIMES LIGHTS NOT EVEN ON.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE DIED. TOTAL LOSS OF CONTROL. PULLED OVER ON THE SIDE OF ROAD. I HAD NO POWER, NO EMERGENCY LIGHTS. AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES I STARTED THE CAR AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME. THE SAME PROBLEM PERSISTED AND I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE PROBLEM ANALYZED. THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOT ABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM AND TOLD ME TO TAKE THE VEHICLE HOME. SINCE THE PROBLEM CONTINUED I RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP THREE MORE TIME AND THEY STILL WERE NOT ABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM. THE LAST TIME THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE SHOP CALLED THE CHRYSLER CORPORATION AND THEY CALLED THE DEALERSHIP. THE CHRYSLER CORPORATION WAS GIVEN THE SAME STORY. I RESEARCHED ON THE INTERNET TO ATTEMPT TO FIND OUT IF OTHER OWNERS HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS, THERE WERE SEVERAL REPORTED BUT THEIR DEALERSHIPS COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM EITHER. I HAVE NOT USED THE VEHICLE SINCE THE DEALERSHIP CHECKED IT, SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE INQUIRE ABOUT BUYING THE VEHICLE BUT I AM AFRAID TO SELL IT AND HAVE THEM DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY/FREEWAY AT 70MPH AND THE VEHICLE STOPS AND AN ACCIDENT HAPPENS. CAN YOU HELP??????
POWER TO THE VEHICLE IS LOST WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. TOTAL LOSS NO CONTROL. APPEARS THAT THE WIRELESS IGNITION MODE IS DEFECTIVE.
CAR STOPPED RUNNING WHILE DRIVING. VERY HARD TO TURN KEY TO RESTART. RUNS AND STOPS WITHOUT ADVANCE NOTICE WHEN DRIVING AS WELL AS SITTING STATIONARY.
VAN WAS PARKED AND BEING UNLOADED. LEFT SIDE DOOR BEGIN TO OPEN. IT OPENED ABOUT TWO THIRDS OF THE WAY, THEN REVERSED AND BEGIN TO CLOSE. A BOX WAS BEING UNLOADED FROM BEHIND THE FRONT SEAT. AS THE DOOR CLOSED IT CONTACTED MY WIVES ARMS AND CONTINUED TO CLOSE ON THE ARMS AND BOX. FORCE HAD TO BE USED TO GET ARMS AND BOX CLEAR OF DOOR. IN THE PROCESS OF FORCING THE ARMS CLEAR, THE DOOR BEGIN TO CLICK AND STUCK OPEN. THE SAFETY REVERSE DID NOT ENGAGE TO REVERSE THE DOOR OR WORK AT ALL. THE DOOR WAS JAMMED OPEN AND WOULD NOT OPEN OR CLOSE AT ALL. DROVE TO THE BODY SHOP TO HAVE THE PROBLEM INVESTIGATED AND FIXED. DISCOVERED THE PLASTIC COATING ON THE WIRE HAD PEELED OFF AND BEGAN TO BIND IN THE PULLEY MECHANISM. BOTH THE PULLEY HAD DAMAGE BETWEEN THE CABLE RACES AND THE WIRE HAD TORN COATING. THIS COMBINATION DAMAGE RENDERED THE SAFETY REVERSE TO NOT OPERATE AND COULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS INJURY TO AN INDIVIDUAL WHO WAS NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO OVERPOWER THE DOOR.

THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART EACH TIME THE FAILURE OCCURRED. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO PROGRESS. AN UNKNOWN DEALER WAS CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, AN ELECTRICAL RECALL HAD BEEN COMPLETED BEFORE AND AFTER THE FAILURES OCCURRED SO THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED NO SOLUTION OTHER THAN HAVING THE DEALER REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
FIRST PROBLEM IS THE DRIVERS SIDE BACK DOOR DOES NOT OPEN. IT STOPPED WORKING ELECTRONICALLY AND MANUALLY AS WELL AS THE WINDOW. THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH FLICKER OFF AND ON, RADIO TURNS ON AND OFF, THE VAN DOOR DINGS, AND IT DIES WHILE SLOWING DOWN OR EVEN WHEN DRIVING. IT HAPPENS IN TOWN OR ON THE HIGHWAY
2010 TOWN AND COUNTRY ENGINE DIED WHEN IN MOTION GOING AROUND 35 MPH ALSO DIED WHEN COMING TO A STOP AT STOP LIGHT. THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT WENT ON WHEN ENGINE CUT OFF. LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. WAS ABLE TO PUT IT IN PARK AND RESTART.
VEHICLE STALLS WHILE DRIVING CONSTANTLY. IT SEEMS TO BE WORSE AT SLOWER SPEEDS, BUT DOES HAPPEN AT HIGHER SPEEDS. WHEN THE STALL OCCURS, YOU OFTEN SEE THE ABS LIGHT COME ON. THE CAR LOSES POWER STEERING. YOU HAVE TO PULL OVER AND RESTART OR SOMETIMES CAN PUT IT INTO NEUTRAL AND RESTART WHILE DRIVING. THERE ARE OTHER TIMES CAR SEEMS TO SURGE FORWARD FOR NO REASON. IT'S OFTEN DIFFICULT TO START.
ENGINE SHUTS OFF WHILE IN MOTION IN DRIVE MODE. THIS HAPPENS AT ANY RATE OF SPEED, 70 MPH TO 10 MPH, IN GOOD WEATHER CONDITIONS, ON THE HIGHWAY AND LOCAL STREETS, DRIVING STRAIGHT OR TURNING SLIGHTLY. THE ABS MODULE TESTED BAD 9 MONTHS AGO AND WAS REPLACED BY AUTO ELECTRIC SPECIALISTS OF HOUSTON. THIS DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. I HAVE NOT HAD THE ECM REPLACED. MY CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP CANNOT FIND THE PROBLEM AND HAS TOLD ME TO KEEP DRIVING AND TO BRING THE CAR IN RIGHT AWAY IF THE ISSUE HAPPENS AGAIN. THE CAR SCARES ME!!! THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED RIGHT AFTER I TURNED RIGHT AT A STOPPED SIGN. THE SECOND TIME I HAD JUST GONE OVER A SPEED HUMP (SLOWLY). THE ENGINE TOTALLY SHUT DOWN WHILE STILL IN DRIVE. I BRAKED (WITHOUT POWER) TO A STOP, PUT THE VAN IN PARK, TURNED THE KEY OFF, AND THEN RESTARTED THE VAN. NO PROBLEMS AFTER RESTART. RESTARTED JUST FINE. BUT THIS HAS HAPPENED TWO DAYS IN A ROW. WE HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM FOR OVER 1 1/2 YEARS, HOWEVER IT HAS BECOME MORE FREQUENT IN RECENT DAYS.

THIS OCCURRED IN JULY OF 2017 AFTER I SPENT 3K IN RENTAL CARS TO GET TO AND FROM WORK. ON 8/4/2017 THE THERMOSTAT BLEW WHICH COST 200.00 TO REPAIR NOW THE CATALYCT CONVERTER IS GONE AND ON 8/5/2017 THE CAR WAS ACTING POSSESSED. I CAME OUTSIDE SIDE TO START THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE GOING OFF AND THE CAR SMELT AS IF IT WERE BURNING. THEY KEYS WERE NOT IN THE VEHICLE. EVERYTHING ELSE ELECTRICALLY WORKS IN VEHICLE WHEN THIS OCCURS, INCLUDING POWER DOORS, WINDOWS, ETC. VEHICLE IS STOPPED AND THERE IS NO PATTERN TO LENGTH OF TIME SITTING, ANGLE PARKED AT, OR ANYTHING. HAS HAPPENED IN GARAGE, PARKING LOTS, AND MOST RECENTLY IN CAR WASH.

THE ISSUE LEFT ME AND MY FAMILY IN DANGER OF A HIGHWAY COLLISION. THIS PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH SPONTANEOUSLY DROPPING INTO ACCESSORY MODE WHICH MATCHES A RECALL FOR THE SAME ISSUE IN OTHER TOWN AND COUNTRY'S VERY CLOSE TO THE DATE OF MANUFACTURE OF MINE. THAT RECALL WAS 14V373. MY VAN WAS MANUFACTURED FOUR MONTHS AFTER THE RECALL WINDOW RELATING TO THE IGNITION SWITCH ISSUE WHICH SUBSEQUENTLY DISABLES THE AIRBAGS AND OTHER SAFETY EQUIPMENT. THE SPECIFIC PART THAT WAS THE ISSUE IN 14V373 AND WHAT I BELIEVE TO BE THE ISSUE HERE IS THE WIN MODULE.

DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE VEHICLE WILL LOSE POWER TO INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR LIGHTS, AC/HEAT, RADIO, DOOR LOCKS, POWER WINDOWS, ETC. THE TRANSMISSION WILL ALSO THROW ITSELF INTO NEUTRAL. I HAVE SPOKEN TO 3 AUTO SHOPS IN THE LAST MONTH AND THEY HAVE SAID THEY HAVE SEEN THIS ISSUE WITH TOWN AND COUNTRY VANS OVER THE LAST YEAR OR SO. MY VAN CURRENTLY HAS 137K MILES ON IT.
LOW TIRE PRESSURE ALARM INITIATED AT INTERSTATE HIGHWAY SPEED, ROUGHLY 70MPH STRAIGHT LINE TRAVEL. PULLED OVER AND DISCOVERED THE METAL VALVE STEM HAD CRACKED JUST BELOW THE PLASTIC CAP AND HAD LEAKED ABOUT 6-8PSI OUT OF 36. CONTACT WITH THE TIP CAUSED IT TO CRACK OFF COMPLETELY CAUSING RAPID DEFLATION OF THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR TIRE. WOULD HAVE CAUSED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE POSSIBLE ACCIDENT IF VEHICLE HAD STILL BEEN MOVING OR IF RESPONSE TO TIRE PRESSURE WARNING WAS DELAYED. HIGH HAZARD FAILURE. THIS IS THE SECOND VALVE STEM FAILURE FOR THIS VEHICLE, BUT THE FIRST WAS A CORROSION LEAK AROUND THE BASE WHICH WAS MUCH SLOWER.

THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO CHRYSLER IN TURNERSVILLE, NJ AS WELL AS AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP MR. BRAKES IN BLACKWOOD, NJ FOR THIS PROBLEM. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT SINCE NO CODES APPEAR AND THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM (SINCE IT IS INTERMITTENT) THEY CAN NOT CORRECT THE ISSUE. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON HIGHWAYS, BACK ROADS AND EVEN IN THE MIDDLE OF A TURN. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AS ALL STEERING, BREAKING POWER AND ENGINE ARE LOST WHEN THE VEHICLE TURNS OFF. WHILE THE CAR IS RUNNING AND THE ENGINE IS IDLE AND THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK I HAVE TRIED TO JIGGLE THE KEYS WHILE IN THE IGNITION TO SEE IF I CAN SIMULATE THE PROBLEM BUT THIS TEST HAD NO EFFECT AND DID NOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM. WE HAVE FOUND OTHER RECALLS FOR SIMILAR ISSUES, HOWEVER, OUR MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR ARE NOT PART OF THOSE RECALLS. SEE ATTACHED INVOICES OF SERVICE APPOINTMENTS NOTING MY COMPLAINT.

TOOK CAR TO MY MECHANIC WAS TOLD WIN MODULE, TOWED CAR TO LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER AND PAID DIAGNOSTIC FEE AFTER BEING TOLD THAT RECALL HAD ALREADY BEEN COMPLETED, ONLY TO BE TOLD BY DEALER THAT FUEL PUMP BAD AND BATTERY NEEDS TO BE CHARGED. I AM DOUBTING THE FUEL PUMP WOULD CAUSE CAR TO COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE AND COULD HAVE BEEN POTENTIALLY FATAL AS I HAD MY YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE CAR AND WAS SECONDS AWAY FROM HEADING OVER A BIG BRIDGE.
