I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL FOR THE REAR QUARTER VENT WINDOW SWITCH. WHEN WE WENT TO THE DEALER TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE IT REPLACED, THEY TOLD US THEY HAVE REQUESTED THIS PART NUMEROUS TIMES WITH NO SUCCESS.
AS WITH OTHER 2011 TOWN AND COUNTRY OWNERS, BLIND SPOT DETECTION SYSTEM WENT BAD. SYSTEM IS LATCHED IN ERROR MODE. SYSTEM HAS TO BE DISABLED TO PREVENT BLIND SPOT INDICATOR LIGHTS ON BOTH MIRRORS TO BE CONSTANTLY ON. THIS SEEMS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE IN THAT WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE ON, DRIVER CAN BE DISTRACTED. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 50,000 MILES. *TR

IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYED ZERO AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE ELECTRONIC IGNITION DEVICE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE KEY NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. SAFETY EQUIPMENT FAILURE. THE BLIND SPOT MONITORING SYSTEM QUIT WORKING. WE PAID EXTRA FOR THESE SAFETY FEATURES AND THIS WAS A MAJOR FACTOR IN PURCHASING THIS MINI VAN. ANYTHING THAT I HAVE READ ABOUT THIS ISSUE INDICATES THAT DEALERSHIPS HAVE STATED ON MULTIPLE TIMES THAT THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM WITH ALL CHRYSLER VEHICLES. THE DEALERS WOULD CHARGE APPROXIMATELY $2,200 TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM WITH THE SAME DEFECTIVE / POORLY DESIGNED PARTS. THIS IS NOT A SOLUTION; PAY TWICE FOR SAFETY EQUIPMENT THAT WILL JUST GO BAD IN THE FUTURE. THIS APPEARS TO BE AN ENGINEERING DESIGN ISSUE. SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS SOLD WITH THIS SAFETY FEATURE, I FEEL STRONGLY THATTHIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE WIDESPREAD REPORTED FAILURE OF THE BLIND SPOT MONITORING SYSTEMS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED. CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL ON THIS. I HOPE THE NHTSA CAN SPUR THEM TO STAND BEHIND THEIR SAFETY SYSTEMS THAT THEY ACTIVELY MARKETED TO THE PUBLIC. I LEASED THE 2011 VEHICLE IN JUNE,2011 AND THEN I PURCHASED IT. ABOUT 6 MONTHS AFTER THAT THE BSM SYSTEM STARTED ACTING UP WITH THE LEFT MIRROR TRIANGLE TURNING ON ERRATICALLY WITH NO OTHER CAR OR ANYTHING AROUND THE VEHICLE. THEN THE PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR TRIANGLE TURNED ON AND THE SYSTEM INDICATED A MALFUNCTION ON THE EVIC. VEHICLE WAS MARGINALLY DIRTY WHEN THIS HAPPENED. IT WAS ALSO COLD OUT (0 DEGREES F TO 30F) IT IS NOW CLOSE TO 70F AND THE SYSTEM STILL DOES NOT FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE HAD 28,000. MILES ON IT AND WAS LESS THAN 3.5 YEARS OLD. *TR

I WAS DRIVING AND THE VEHICLE KEPT PROMPTING ME BLIND SPOT SERVICE IS NOT AVAILABLE. LIKE IT WAS TRYING TO RESET. AFTER ROTATING SEVERAL TIMES, IT GOT STUCK WITH MESSAGE SERVICE BLIND SPOT MONITOR SERVICE. BOTH MIRRORS HAD THE AMBER TRIANGLE LIT UP, KIND OF DISTRACTING. DEALER WILL NOT COVER DUE TO OUT WARRANTY. COST IS > $2000 FOR TWO SENSORS WITH HARNESS. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW BOTH SENSORS WENT OUT AT THE SAME TIME. EACH SENSOR IS FOR EACH SIDE. IF CHRYSLER HAD A LIFECYCLE THAT WAS SHORT, CONSUMERS SHOULD HAVE BEEN MADE AWARE (SIMILAR TO CHANGING BULBS, FLUIDS, BATTERY, BRAKES, ETC.). IF YOU REVIEW THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS, THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE RECALLED FOR THIS ISSUE. SEEMS LIKE CHRYSLER PRODUCED A PART WHICH WAS NOT FULLY TESTED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND ALL THE GAUGES STOPPED WORKING. A DAY LATER MY WIFE WENT TO CRANK THE CAR AND IT WILL NOT CRANK OR TURN OVER AT ALL. DEALER SAYS THE TIPM. I HAVE SEEN THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND MY CONCERN IS WITH THE GAUGES NOT WORKING WHILE MY WIFE IS DRIVING OR THE CAR TO STOP RUNNING. *TR

THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO THE FLOORBOARD AND THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO ACCELERATE. AFTER THE CONTACT REMOVED HER FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE BRAKES WOULD GRIND AFTER THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
2011 T&C, 50300 MILES, HAVING SEVERAL ONGOING PROBLEMS WITH HARD STARTS, HARD SHIFTING, POWER DOORS NOT STAYING OPEN, CLOSES AUTOMATICALLY, EXTREMELY POOR GAS MILEAGE.HAVE HAD INTO DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR THESE ISSUES WHILE UNDER WARRANTY AND NOW AGAIN HAVING PROBLEMS AND OF COURSE VEHICLE OUT OF WARRANTY. VEHICLE HAS STARTED BY ITS SELF AND HAVE FOUND POWER DOORS OPEN WHEN I RETURNED TO MY VEHICLE. MY CURRENT MAIN PROBLEM IS THE ONGOING ISSUE OF HARD STARTS AND NOW PROBLEM HAS ESCALATED TO CRANK AND CRANK NO FIRE, HAVE TO ATTEMPT SEVERAL TIMES (20-30), VEHICLE THEN WILL EVENTUALLY FIRE RPM RACE TO 3-4000RPMS THEN STALL, AGAIN SEVERAL TIMES OF SHUTTING OFF AND ATTEMPTING TO START, EVENTUALLY IT STARTS SOMETIMES TAKING 30 MINUTES TO GET IT RUNNING. ALSO JUST TODAY WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE ATTEMPTED TO STALL RPMS DECREASE, THANKFULLY IT DID NOT STALL AS I WAS DRIVING WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. DEFINITELY VERY CONCERNED AS THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND AN INCONVENIENCE. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY GOING 70MPH AND THE VEHICLE STALLS, CHRYSLER DEFINITELY NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING DUE TO SEVERITY OF A SAFETY ISSUE

THE VEHICLE IS HAVING ISSUES TURNING ON. IT PERIODICALLY WILL NOT START. WE HAVE PURCHASED A NEW BATTERY AND THAT HAS NOT SOLVED THE ISSUE. IT IS GETTING WORSE EVERYDAY AND POSSIBLY AFFECTING OTHER ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS. IT HAS LEFT MY WIFE STRANDED TWICE ALREADY IN TWO WEEKS. THIS VAN HAS ALREADY HAD THE CYLINDER REPLACED, HEADLAMP, LATCH FOR REAR SEAT, SENSORS, TWO BATTERIES. IT ALSO SHOOK VIOLENTLY AND ALMOST STALLED ON THE RAILROAD TRACK IN JUNE OF 2014. IT APPEARS THAT THE TIPM MODULE IS BAD AND IT SCARES ME TO HAVE MY WIFE AND CHILDREN IN THIS VEHICLE AS IT IS NO LONGER SAFE TO DRIVE. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IN A RECALL. *TR

BLIND SPOT DETECTION SENSORS AND REAR BACK UP SENSORS HAVE MALFUNCTIONED AND NO LONGER OPERATE. *TR
THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF COMPLETELY WHILE BEING DRIVEN, ON THE WAY TO COMING TO A STOP. IT WOULD NOT RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED IT HAD A FAULTY TIPM, WHICH WAS REPLACED FOR $1151. UPON PICKING THE VEHICLE UP FROM THE DEALERSHIP, IT WAS NOTICED THAT BOTH FRONT TURN SIGNALS WERE NO LONGER WORKING, AND A WARNING BOX POPPED UP ABOUT THIS ISSUE. ALSO, A WARNING LIGHT OF A BATTERY APPEARED ON THE DASH, AND NOW THE CAR HAS TO RETURN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THESE ISSUES. I FEEL THE SHUTTING OFF OF THE CAR COULD HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, CONSIDERING THE BAD WEATHER (ICY ROADS) AND IF I HAD BEEN TRAVELING AT A HIGHER SPEED. *TR

PURCHASED VEHICLE IN AUGUST, 2014. IN JANUARY 2015, AFTER STARTING VEHICLE, BLIND SPOT SYSTEM CHIMED AND LIGHTS IN MIRRORS STAYED ON STEADILY. SYSTEM STATED BLIND SPOT SYSTEM NOT AVAILABLE. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH, NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, AND THE COST TO REPAIR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS IT HELPS PREVENT CRASHES DUE TO BLIND SPOTS. NOW EVERY TIME I START VEHICLE, I HAVE TO LISTEN TO THE CHIME INFORMING ME IT IS NOT OPERABLE. VEHICLE HAD APPROXIMATELY 59,000 MILES WHEN THIS SYSTEM FAILED.
