BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE A LOUD, FREQUENTLY OCCURRING SQUEAK AND SQUEALS ASSOCIATED WITH THE REAR BRAKES WHILE CAR WAS MOVING. WOULD APPEAR RANDOMLY AT ANYTIME OR ANY SPEED AND WOULD LAST FOR HOURS OR DAYS. HAVE HAD PROBLEM OVER ONE YEAR. A SLIGHT TOUCH OF THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD CAUSE NOISE TO IMMEDIATELY CEASE. HAD DEALER REMOVE REAR WHEELS ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS OVER THE LAST YEAR AND THEY REPORTED NO PROBLEM OBSERVED. ISSUE NEVER WENT AWAY. IN FOR OIL CHANGE TODAY AND TOLD DEALER TO LOOK AT REAR WHEELS AND BRAKES AGAIN....... THEY TOLD ME REAR BRAKES WERE METAL TO METAL AND COMPLETELY WORN DOWN AND WANT $450.00 TO TURN ROTORS AND REPLACE BRAKE PADS. CAR HAS 23,500 MILES OF NORMAL DRIVING. TO ME, THIS IS QUITE OUT OF THE ORDINARY AND CLEARLY THERE IS A MANUFACTURING ERROR HERE. IT'S CRAZY TO EXPECT $450.00 EVERY 23 K MILES TO REPAIR REAR BRAKES ON A PRACTICALLY NEW CAR THAT I BOUGHT NEW AND HAVE OWNED FOR ONLY 2 YEARS ! HAVE SEEN A LITANY OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS-----IS THERE ANY RECOURSE ? *TR
BLIND SPOT INDICATOR HAS STOPPED FUNCTIONING AROUND 45,500 MILES. THE CLUSTER PERIODICALLY CHIMES THAT THE BLIND SPOT INDICATOR SYSTEM IS NOT AVAILABLE AND THE INDICATOR LIGHTS REMAIN LIT. SO A SAFETY FEATURE HAS BECOME A DISTRACTION AND NOW IS A SAFETY RISK. I CALLED THE DEALER TO INQUIRE IF THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND WAS TOLD TO CALL CHRYSLER SINCE THIS FAILURE IS "HAPPENING LEFT AND RIGHT." HE ADVISED ME THE REPAIR IS ROUGHLY $2,800. FAILURE OCCURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS 28 MONTHS OLD. AND WAS SURPRISED IT HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED YET. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS WAS A RECURRING ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000.
ON A STEEP HILL IN DRIVE THE VEHICLE ROLLS BACKWARD IF YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE BRAKE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND DEALER SAYS IS NORMAL. *TR
IN NOVEMBER OF 2012, WITH APPROXIMATELY 31000 MILES ON MY VAN, I HAD TO REPLACE FRONT AND BACK BRAKES AND ROTORS, JANUARY 2013, REPLACED BRAKES AND ROTORS AGAIN WITH APPROXIMATELY 33000 MILES, MAY OF 2013 REPLACED BRAKES AND ROTORS A THIRD TIME WITH APPROXIMATELY 35000 MILES ON VEHICLE, NOW WITH ALMOST 41000 MILES MY BRAKES AND ROTORS NEED REPLACING A FOURTH TIME. FOUR TIMES IN ABOUT 10000 MILES IS ABSURD, I HAVE REPLACED THE BRAKES AND ROTORS WITH THE CORRECT PADS AND ROTORS FROM AUTOZONE, SINCE I AM TRYING TO MAINTAIN MY VEHICLE ON A BUDGET, CALLED CHRYSLER TO FILE A COMPLAINT AND WAS TOLD UNLESS I GO TO A DEALER TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM, THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN OR WILL DO, I PAID 94000 DOLLARS FOR 3 2011 TOWN AND COUNTRY VANS, THE OTHER TWO VANS HAVE NOT GONE THROUGH BRAKES OR ROTORS LIKE THE ONE I DRIVE DAILY, THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL, OR SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUED, I HAVE READ HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE BRAKING SYSTEMS IN THE REDESIGNED CHRYSLER AND DODGE VANS, TO ME AND ALL THE OTHER PEOPLE WHO ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE, IT I A SERIOUS ONE FOR US, WE HAVE ALL PAID GOOD MONEY FOR OUR VEHICLES, JUST TO HAVE THE VEHICLE NICKEL AND DIME US LIKE AN OLD USED CAR, CHRYSLER AND DODGE NEED TO ADDRESS THESE ISSUES, LIKE MYSELF, PEOPLE ARE ON BUDGETS, AND MOST CANT AFFORD TO KEEP REPLACING THE SAME PART OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN, PLEASE DO SOMETHING, IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE, WHO KNOWS WHY THE BRAKES ARE GETTING USED UP SO QUICKLY, OR WHEN OR IF THEY WILL COMPLETELY FAIL AND CAUSE SERIOUS INJURIES OR FATALITIES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR FAILED TO REMAIN OPEN AND WOULD INDEPENDENTLY CLOSE. ON ONE OCCASION, THE SLIDING DOOR AUTOMATICALLY CLOSED ON A CHILD'S HEAD. THE CHILD SUSTAINED MINOR EAR INJURIES AND WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE REPLICATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RECURRING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. AFTER ABOUT 4 MONTHS OF PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, I HAD ISSUES WITH THE BRAKES, SYSTEM HAD BEING REPLACED ALREADY 4 TIMES (IN LESS THAN 2 YEARS), I HAD PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THE WORK, STILL HAVING ISSUES. THERE IS A NOISY FROM THE ENGINE EVERY TIME YOU CHANGE EITHER FROM PARKING TO DRIVE OR DRIVE TO REVERSE. HAD IT CHECKED ALREADY 3 TIMES. MY POWER WINDOW AND LOCK CONTROL IS ALWAYS HAVING ISSUES AND GET'S PRETTY WARM. SUMMARIZING MY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS VEHICLE IT HAD BEING A COMPLETE NIGHTMARE, I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND HAD SPEND MORE MONEY OUT OF POCKET THAN MY PREVIOUS MINI-VANS. ANOTHER ISSUE IS THAT SOMETIMES THE SIDE DOORS OPEN BY THEMSELVES, WITHOUT US EVEN TOUCHING THE CONTROLS, OR THEY OPEN HALF WAY AND WE MUST PLACE IN PARK THE VAN, TURN IT OFF AND START IT AGAIN IN ORDER TO CLOSE THE SIDE DOORS. *TR
WHEN STOPPED ON AN INCLINE, IN DRIVE, WHEN THE BRAKE IS RELEASED THE VEHICLE ROLLS BACK, AS IF IN NEUTRAL. *TR
ON SATURDAY NOV 3, 2012 CHILDREN WERE ENTERING VEHICLE THROUGH POWER SLIDING DOOR. OLDER CHILD BUMPED INTO DOOR AS IT WAS OPENING, PUSHING IT FURTHER OPEN. DOOR THEN SHUT AND LATCHED RAPIDLY (FOUR SECONDS) ON TODDLERS HAND, REQUIRING VISIT TO EMERGENCY ROOM AND TREATMENT. ON MONDAY NOV 5, 2012 WE WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE BOUGHT THE VAN, AND THEY SAID IT IS OPERATING AS DESIGNED. THE DOOR IS DESIGNED TO SHUT AND LATCH RAPIDLY IF YOU BUMP IT OR TRY TO PUSH IT OPEN WHILE IT IS OPENING. THEY SHOWED ME ANOTHER VAN THAT IS DESIGNED SAME WAY. I TESTED MY FRIENDS TOYOTA AND HONDA VANS AND THOSE DOORS RIGHTLY OPEN IF YOU BUMP OR PUSH THEM WHILE DOOR IS MECHANICALLY OPENING OR CLOSING. ALL MOTORIZED VAN DOORS REQUIRE SPECIAL AWARENESS, BUT CHRYSLER DOORS ARE UNSAFE. HOPING FOR RECALL SO THEY CAN FIX SAFETY ISSUE FOR EVERYONE AND NO ONE ELSE IS INJURED. *TR
WE NOTICED WHEN COMING OFF OF THE FREEWAY A PULSATING/RUMBLING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD US THE BRAKES WERE WORN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED SOMETIME SOON. OUR VAN NOW HAS 34,000 MI AND OUR REAR BRAKES ARE NOW METAL TO METAL. GOING TO NEED PADS AND ROTORS. NEVER HEARD OF BRAKES GOING OUT WITH THAT FEW MILES. DEALER SAYS THAT IS NORMAL. MY OTHER CAR HAS 240K ON THE ORIGINAL REAR BRAKES. WHAT'S WRONG CHRYSLER???? *TR
SIX YEAR OLD BOY SITTING ON BOOSTER SEAT IN SECOND ROW SEAT FOUND HE COULD REACH THE SEAT RECLINE LEVER. SEAT HEAD REST COLLAPSED AND ENTIRE SEAT LIFTED UP AND FORWARD. BOY WAS BENT IN HALF AND LIFTED UP VERTICALLY IN SEAT, RECEIVING MINOR INJURIES. *TR
PASSENGER SEAT BELT NOTIFICATION NOT WORKING PROPERLY. DROVE ALL THE WAY ACROSS TOWN BEFORE PASSENGER REALIZED SHE HAD FORGOTTEN TO BUCKLE HER SEAT. *TR

I WAS CLEANING MY WINDSHIELD ON THE VAN WHEN THE ENGINE SUDDENLY STARTED (WITHIN THE CLOSED GARAGE). APPARENTLY THE AUTOMATIC-START FUNCTION WAS TRIGGERED WHEN THE KEY-FOB REMOTE IN MY PANTS POCKET WAS INADVERTENTLY ACTIVATED WHEN I LEANED AGAINST THE CAR. THIS IS VERY SCARY! IF I HAD BEEN LEANING AGAINST SOMETHING INSIDE THE HOUSE, WOULD MY CAR HAVE BEEN RUNNING ALL NIGHT IN A CLOSED GARAGE ATTACHED TO MY HOUSE?. I HAVE OFTEN ACCIDENTALLY TRIGGERED OTHER FUNCTIONS (SUCH AS DOOR OPENING, DOOR LOCK, ETC.) WHEN WORKING AROUND THE HOUSE, BUT AUTOMATICALLY STARTING THE ENGINE IS ESPECIALLY TROUBLING! I BELIEVE THERE SHOULD BE A SEPARATE INTERLOCK SAFETY BUTTON LOCATED ON THE SIDE OF THE REMOTE KEY FOB SO AN ACCIDENTAL ENGINE START WOULD BE MUCH LESS LIKELY. *TR
PULSATING BRAKES DUE TO WARPED ROTORS. DEALER REPLACED FRONT PADS AND ROTORS TWICE, ALSO REPLACED REAR ROTORS. VEHICLE NOW HAS 55,374 MILES AND I JUST HAD FOURTH SET OF FRONT PADS AND ROTORS INSTALLED. REAR BRAKES ARE ON THIRD SET OF PADS. *TR
WHEN MY VEHICLE HAD ABOUT 16000 MILES ON IT, I NOTICED THAT WHEN BREAKING DURING HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WOULD VIBRATE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY DEALER AT ABOUT 17000 MILES AND WAS INFORMED THE ISSUE WAS CAUSED BY WARPED ROTORS. THE BRAKE PADS WERE FINE, BUT THE ROTORS WOULD NEED TO BE MACHINED OR REPLACED. I OPENED A TICKET WITH CHRYSLER SINCE THE BRAKES WERE OUT OF WARRANTY AT 12000 MILES. THE AGREED TO COVER THE REPAIR. I ASKED FOR NEW ROTORS, BUT WAS INFORMED THAT THEY WERE ON A 4 MONTH BACK ORDER. I HAD HEM MACHINED INSTEAD, THOUGH I KNEW I WOULD BE BACK IN THE SAME BOAT SOON. ON 12-19-12, FOUR MONTHS LATER WITH 6000 MORE MILES, I TOOK THE VAN BACK INTO THE DEALER WITH THE SAME VIBRATING ISSUE, AND WAS AGAIN INFORMED THAT MY ROTORS WERE WARPED. THE BRAKES WERE FINE WITH 7/32 LEFT ON THEM. THE ROTORS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED THIS TIME. AT 23000 MILES, THIS WOULD BE THE 2ND ROTOR ISSUE. I WAS INFORMED THE REPAIR WOULD COST $248, BUT CHRYSLER WOULD SPLIT IT WITH ME, WITH MY PART DOWN TO $124. THE SERVICE MGR STATED HE FELT THE ROTORS WEREN'T MADE WELL. THE TECH TOLD ME THIS KEEPS HAPPENING, AND THE CHRYSLER REP INFORMED ME THE NEW ROTORS WERE DIFFERENT, SO I SHOULDN'T HAVE THIS ISSUE AGAIN. IN MY MIND, THIS IS THE DEFINITION OF A DEFECT. I DO NO THINK I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING TO FIX A DEFECT. SOME 2011 TOWN AND COUNTRY VANS HAVE BEEN GRANTED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE BREAKS, BUT MINE IS NOT COVERED. I WAS ACTUALLY TOLD BY THE CHRYSLER REP THAT IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO POST THIS WITH THE NHTSA IN THE HOPES OF TRIGGERING A RECALL.I PLAN ON GETTING THE ROTORS NEXT WEEK, AS THEY ARE ON SPECIAL ORDER, BECAUSE THEY AREN'T AVAILABLE LOCALLY. IN 18 YEARS OF DRIVING, I HAVE NEVER REPLACED ROTORS BEFORE 60,000 MILES. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. *TR

THE CONTACT OBSERVED A SHOCK FROM THE REAR LIFT GATE BE SPEWED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE DENTED THE REAR FENDER AND FRACTURED THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TAIL LIGHT. THE REAR LIFT GATE STOPPED WORKING PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY NEVER HEARD OF ONE OF THE SHOCKS EXPLODING BEFORE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 14,000.
ON SOME TRANSMISSION SHIFTS FROM RANGE TO ANOTHER, BOTH UPSHIFT AND DOWNSHIFT, SLOWING DOWN TO SPEEDING UP, THERE WOULD BE A SOUND SIMILAR TO WHAT A WORN U-JOINT MAKES WHEN IT NEEDS REPLACING. THE SOUND WOULD HAPPEN REGARDLESS OF VEHICLE SPEED. COULD NOT BE HEARD ON HARD ACCELERATION. DEALER WORK ORDER STATED THAT THEY TIGHTENED 2 AXLE NUTS. WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF THE COME COMPLETELY OFF???? TO ME THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REAR ENDED AT 45 MPH AND PUSHED INTO A PRECEDING VEHICLE. THE AIR BAG LIGHT INDICATED THAT THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, BUT THEY DID NOT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED FOR THE AIR BAG FAILURE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SEAT BELT FAILED DURING THE CRASH, ALLOWING THE CHILD SEAT THAT WAS BEING RESTRAINED TO DETACH FROM THE SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR SEAT BELTS DID NOT RESTRAIN THE PASSENGERS DUE TO THE POSITION OF THE SHOULDER STRAP. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE SHOULDER STRAP FOR THE SEAT BELTS WOULD LIE ON THE PASSENGER'S ARMS AND WAS LOW ACROSS THE CHEST AREA. THE SHOULDER STRAP WAS TOO FAR FORWARD AND COULD NOT BE USED TO RESTRAIN CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE SEAT BELT WOULD NOT LOCK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE SEAT BELTS WERE DESIGN IN THAT MANNER AND COULD NOT BE CHANGED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
TRAVELING SOUTH AT SPEED OF 55 TO 60MPH HORN STARTED BLOWING WINDSHIELD WIPERS COME ON AND WINDSHIELD WASHERS COME ON I TRY TO SHUT WASHER AND WIPERS OFF WITH SWITCH THAT DID NOT STOP THEM FROM WORKING NEXT ALL THE LITTLE WARNING LIGHTS WERE ON I LOOK AT THE RPM GAUGE AND IT SAID 0 THE ENGINE HAD STOP RUNNING I COASTED TO WHERE THE SHOULDER WAS WIDE TO GET CAR OFF THE HIGHWAY I NEXT TRIED TO START ENGINE IT WOULD NOT START NEXT THING I AM HANDICAPPED AND DRIVE CAR WITH HAND CONTROLS IN MY MOTORIZE WHEELCHAIR AS I CANNOT WALK SO NEXT I UNDID THE SEATBELT AND UNLOCK MY WHEELCHAIR AND MY CARETAKER HAD GOTTEN OUT OF CAR AS I BACK WHEELCHAIR TO GET OUT OF CAR I NOTICE BLACK SMOKE COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD I ASK CARETAKER TO OPEN BACK DOOR TO DEPLOY RAMP SO I COULD GET OUT OF CAR THE BACK DOORS WOULD NOT OPEN MANUAL OR WITH THE KEY REMOTE I TURN AROUND AND FELL OUT DRIVER DOOR TO GROUND & FIVE PEOPLE CARRY ME AWAY FROM FLAMING CAR. I HAD ISSUE WITH WINDSHIELD WIPERS BEFORE TOOK TO DODGE DEALER THEY SAID I HAD COMPUTER GLITCH. I DO BELIEVE THERE WAS ISSUES WITH THIS CAR WHEN I PURCHASE IT NEW WITH ONLY 10 MILES ON IT. I STARTED OUR 2011 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY, STEPPED ON THE PARKING BRAKE PEDAL TO RELEASE THE BRAKE. WHEN I GOT TO 65 M.P.H. THE HOOD STARTED SHAKING. I REALIZED THAT WHEN I RELEASED THE PARKING BRAKE THAT MY TOE MUST HAVE TRIPPED THE HOOD RELEASE LEVER. THIS IS A SAFETY DESIGN FLAW IN THAT THE HOOD RELEASE LEVER SHOULD NOT BE LOCATED DIRECTLY ABOVE THE PARKING BRAKE PEDAL. I CALLED THE CHRYSLER CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER AT 800-247-9753 TO REPORT THIS PROBLEM 7-6-2012. THE REFERENCE NUMBER IS [XXX]. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 65 MPH WHEN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, ELECTRICAL SLIDING DOORS AND THE POWER WINDOWS FAILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT EVERY LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. IF THE PATH OF THE SLIDING DOOR IS INTERRUPTED (PULL THE DOOR HANDLE WHILE DOOR IS IN MOTION AND POWER DOOR SYSTEM DISENGAGES IMMEDIATELY), POWER DOOR SYSTEM JUST LETS THE DOOR GO. POWER SLIDING DOOR SYSTEM SHOULD EITHER OPEN THE DOOR OR HOLD IT IN AN HALF WAY OPENED POSITION, INSTEAD IT RELEASES THE DOOR TO GRAVITY. SLIGHTLY BEFORE 9,000 MILES I STARTED NOTICING A SLIGHT SHIMMY OF THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED WHEN DRIVING OVER 50MPH. THIS CONDITION DID NOT OCCUR CONSISTENTLY, BUT WAS SPORADIC. AS TIME HAS PAST, THIS CONDITION HAS BECOME MUCH MORE FREQUENT, THE STEERING WHEEL SHIMMY HAS BECOME MUCH MORE SEVERE, AND IS NOW OCCURRING AT SPEEDS AS LOW AS 35MPH. I HAVE OWNED CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY VANS OVER THE PAST 16 YEARS (TRADING UP EVERY 2 YEARS) AND CAN TESTIFY THAT THEIR BRAKES HAVE BEEN A CONSISTENT WEAKNESS (TYPICALLY WARPED DISCS). MY ALMOST 2 YEAR OLD GOT HIS HAND FULLY CAUGHT IN THE SLIDING DOOR, EVEN THOUGH IT IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE A SAFETY FEATURE WHICH WOULD PREVENT IT. THE DOOR WAS CLOSING, CLOSED AND FULLY ENGAGED THE LOCKS ON HIS HAND. HIS HAND WAS LODGE FAR ENOUGH INTO THE DOOR THAT YOU COULDN'T SLIDE THE HAND OUT, YOU HAD TO PHYSICALLY OPEN THE DOOR TO GET HIS HAND OUT, HE COULDN'T JUST SLIDE IT OUT. AT THE TIME HE HAD INDENTS ON HIS FINGERS WHERE THE DOOR PUSHED IN THEM. NOW, A FEW HOURS LATER, HE HAS BRUISING AND SLIGHT SWELLING TO HIS FINGERS AND ONE OF THE FINGERS HAS A SLIGHT CUT ON IT. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BRAKE PADS AND THE TIRE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
IN DRIVE, TRANSMISSION JERKS LIKE A FISH TUGGING ON A LINE AT LOW SPEEDS. IN REVERSE, TRANSMISSION PULSATES GREATLY WHEN BACKING UP AN INCLINED DRIVEWAY. NOT ALL THE TIME, BUT MORE AFTER IT IS RUN A WHILE. HAD VAN TO DEALER TWICE AND REFLASHED AND TESTED TRANSMISSION PUMP PRESSURE, SAID IT WAS NORMAL. On 4/9/12 I was involved in a serious accident that resulted in my daughter obtaining a severe traumatic brain. She was in critical condition and is now severely disabled. The back curtain airbags did not protect her and did not appear to work properly. I believe that the vehicle was not properly examined after the accident. The car was a rental vehicle and my family was out of state on vacation. Due to the severe injury of my daughter I believe that the airbags failed.

OUR NEW 2011 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY PURCHASED ON 1/28/2012 WAS MANUFACTURED IN 5/2011. THE TOURING L MODEL IS EQUIPPED WITH ECON MODE THAT, WHEN ENGAGED, PROVIDES ALTERNATIVE GEAR CHANGING FOR ECONOMICAL DRIVING. THE FIRST GEAR CHANGE, AT ABOUT 10MPH, STUTTERS WITH A CLUNK SOUND AND LOSS OF RPM. I CONTACTED THE DEALER SOON AFTER PURCHASE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. THE DEALER DOES NOT HAVE A FIX AND HAS ADVISED CHRYSLER. SINCE THAT TIME I HAVE LEARNED THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM FOR THE T & C VEHICLES WITH THE ECON MODE FEATURE. CHRYSLER HAS RECENTLY ADVISED THE DEALER THAT THEY ARE WORKING ON A FIX. I WAS ALSO TOLD NOT TO USE THIS FEATURE. THERE IS AN IMMEDIATE NEED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM FOR THIS LONG-TERM CHRYSLER-JEEP-DODGE OWNER WHO DIDN'T EXPECT TO PURCHASE A DEFECTIVE VEHICLE. MY CAR HAS A "PUSH BUTTON" ELECTRONIC KEY SENSING START SYSTEM. I PARKED MY CAR, RADIO RUNNING, TOOK MY KEY FROM CAR, LOCKED CAR. CAR KEEPS RUNNING INDEFINITELY EVEN THOUGH KEY IS NOT IN PROXIMITY TO IGNITION. IF A DRIVER TAKES HIS KEYS FROM THE CAR AND CAR IS IN "PARK", I THINK VEHICLE SHOULD SHUT DOWN AFTER AN APPROPRIATE TIME DELAY SUCH AS 15MINUTES. TIRERACK RATES THIS TIRE VERY HIGH, BUT AFTER A FEW THOUSAND MILES, THEY ARE ALREADY SHOWING SIGNS OF ABNORMAL WEAR AND CUPPING. THE COMBINATION OF THE T&C FWD ENGINE WEIGHT, CHEAP FRONT END COMPONENTS WHICH CAUSE STABILITY PROBLEMS, ALONG WITH THIS SOFT RIDING, HARD RUBBER MICHELIN, WILL BECOME ANOTHER PROBLEM LIKE THE FORD EXPLORER & MAVERICKS WITH FIRESTONE 500S. STEERING STABILITY, QUICK RESPONSE AND WANDER ARE A SAFELY ISSUE ON THIS TIRE /VEHICLE COMBINATION. *TR
WE OWN A 2011 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY VAN WHICH WAS PURCHASED IN MARCH 2011. THE VAN HAS A BLIND SPOT MONITOR RADAR SYSTEM TO INDICATE WHEN VEHICLES ARE NEAR YOU ON EITHER SIDE. WE NOTICED THAT THE LEFT SIDE SYSTEM DID NOT TURN ON THE WARNING UNTIL THE OVERTAKING VEHICLE''S FRONT BUMPER WAS EVEN WITH OUR VAN''S REAR BUMPER. IF ONE WERE TO CHANGE LANES WHEN THE VEHICLE IS THAT CLOSE, AN ACCIDENT WILL RESULT. THE RIGHT SIDE SYSTEM WARNS MUCH FURTHER BACK. WE TOOK THE VAN BACK TO THE DEALER ON 9/28/11. THEY HAD NO INFORMATION ON THE PROBLEM AND DID NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. THEY WERE ABLE TO FIND THE TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION FOR THE DETECTION WINDOW FOR THE SYSTEM WHICH STATES THAT THE OVERTAKING VEHICLE SHOULD BE DETECTED AT APPROXIMATELY 15 FT BEHIND OUR REAR BUMPER. THIS RIGHT SIDE SYSTEM APPEARS TO BE DETECTING AT THAT DISTANCE. THE DEALER ALSO TEST DROVE OTHER VANS WITH THE MONITOR SYSTEM AND TOLD US THAT ALL OF THEM WORKED THE SAME AS MINE. I MADE SEVERAL FOLLOW UP CALLS TO THE DEALERSHIP MANAGER BUT NEVER RECEIVED ANY INFORMATION REGARDING EFFORTS TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. ON 12/29/11, I CALLED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE TO ENLIST THEIR ASSISTANCE. THEY TALKED WITH BOTH THE DEALERSHIP MANAGER AND SERVICE MANAGER AT HALL CHRYSLER, BUT WERE TOLD THAT THE SYSTEM IS WORKING AS DESIGNED. THEY SAID THAT WE COULD TAKE THE VAN TO A DIFFERENT DEALER TO SEE IF THEY WOULD DOCUMENT THE PROBLEM, BUT THAT OTHERWISE THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A SAFETY DEFECT AND SHOULD BE FIXED IMMEDIATELY BEFORE IT CAUSES AN ACCIDENT. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING SOUTHBOUND ON TEXAS STATE HIGHWAY 195 APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES SOUTH OF FLORENCE, TEXAS I ENGAGED MY VEHICLE PASSING GEAR AND PASSED ANOTHER SOUTHBOUND VEHICLE. I REENTERED THE SOUTHBOUND LANE AND TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE AND AT APPROXIMATELY 85 MPH, I BEGAN APPLYING BRAKING PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. I CONTINUED TO APPLY AND RELEASE BRAKING PRESSURE AND WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND THE SPEED AT AROUND 85 MPH. THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES TRAVELING SOUTHBOUND IN FRONT OF MY VEHICLE AND AFTER APPROXIMATELY .2 MILE, THE PASSING GEAR RELEASED AND THE REMAINDER OF THE TRIP WAS UNREMARKABLE. THE DEALER WAS INFORMED OF THE INITIAL FAILURE BUT NOT THE MOST RECENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE WHO ADVISED THAT THEY NEEDED TO SPEAK WITH THE DEALER. THE CONTACT FILED A CLAIM (CLAIM NUMBER: 21378042) BUT NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 535 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 586. THE FAILURE MILEAGE OF THE TIRE WAS 40.
