BEGINNING IN AUGUST 2018, WHILE DRIVING, MY 2013 T+C WILL SIMPLY SHUT OFF. NO WARNINGS, NO LIGHTS, NO NOISES, NOTHING. THE VEHICLE SIMPLY SHUTS OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED 6 TIMES OVER THE PAST 4 MONTHS. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, MY SPEED HAS BEEN ANYWHERE BETWEEN 5-35 MPH. IT HAPPENS CLOSER TO WHEN I FIRST START MY CAR AFTER SITTING OVERNIGHT OR FOR 8+ HOURS. ALSO HAPPENS WHEN I AM SLOWING DOWN. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE STARTED EACH TIME IT'S HAPPENED, BUT THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS I HAVE NO POWER IN THE CAR (NO STEERING, VERY LIMITED BRAKES, ETC). THIS ISSUE SEEMS TO BE A REGULAR OCCURRENCE WITH THIS VEHICLE. WHAT IS BEING DONE TO CORRECT THIS DANGEROUS ISSUE?
HAVING TRANSMISSION ISSUES. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. CAUSED BY P0740. DEALER ENGINE LIGHT IS ON BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED IN A 5 YEAR OLD VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND IDLING, A NOISE SIMILAR TO A GUNSHOT WAS HEARD. THE CONTACT REALIZED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE HEAD REST AIR BAG DEPLOYED. AFTERWARDS, THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR DID NOT LOCK AND ALL THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS, INCLUDING THE RADIO AND GPS MALFUNCTIONED. EVER SINCE JULY OF 2018, THE CONTACT MADE NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO SCHEDULE A DIAGNOSTIC APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER (BLACK CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM, 831 SALISBURY RD, STATESVILLE, NC 28677). THE DEALER STATED THAT THE REPAIRS COULD NOT BE SCHEDULED UNLESS THE HEADQUARTERS AUTHORIZED THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,662.

HEADREST FAILED, PLASTIC, HOLDING PIN BROKE AND HEADREST CAME APART. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY.
THE ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT (HEADREST) ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF MY VAN ACTIVATED FOR NO REASON WHILE IT WAS PARKED. THE VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN A CRASH AND HAS 110000 MILES. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO RESET THE HEADREST. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TODAY AND THEY SAID IT WOULD COST $759 TO REPLACE. HEADREST EXPLODED WITH BROKEN PIECES SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY. VAN WAS SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY.
We have had to replace 2 faulty flywheels (a.k.a. flexplates) in our Chrysler Town & Country. The mechanics report that the composite materials used in creating these flywheel/flexplate parts were "less structurally sound than they should have been; therefore causing premature breakdown/failure in otherwise acceptable conditions."
DASHBOARD SCREENS SUDDENLY BLINKS AND ALL SCREENS FLASH INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING.
ON 6/3/2018 @ 2:40 PM, WHILE DRIVING THE VAN, ROLLING WINDOW DOWN, SPARKS FLEW FROM DRIVER DOOR PANEL, SMOKE FILLED CAR AND FIRE IN DOOR PANEL. I PULLED OVER, USED A RAG TO OPEN DOOR AND JUMPED OUT AND CALLED PG COUNTY FIRE AND EMS. FIRE AND EMS ARRIVED AND EXTINGUISHED FIRE. CAR TAKEN AND PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY. HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS AND HAVE NOTHING GOOD TO SAY ABOUT THIS VAN!
KEPT TAKING IT IN PROBABLY FOR ALMOST A YEAR FOR A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK BECAUSE IT FELT LIKE IT HAD A JERKING FEELING IN THE ENGINE. WAS TOLD NO CODES WERE SHOWING UP. THEN EARLIER THIS YEAR, HAD TO HAVE 2 COILS REPLACED ON THE ENGINE. ON JUNE 1 I TOOK IT IN BECAUSE THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON, NOW IT NEEDS CAMSHAFT AND OTHER STUFF DONE!
$2000 BILL FOR SOMETHING I KEPT SAYING THERE WAS SOMETHING GOING ON AND TO FIND OUT THAT IT WAS MISFIRING THE WHOLE TIME FOR OVER A YEAR AND 2 COILS LATER! THIS IS RIDICULOUS!
CLOCK SPRING DISCONNECTED DRIVERS AIRBAG. AIR BAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR SOME TIME EVEN THE LAST LIME IT WAS AT THE DEALER, WHEN THE CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING FOUND THE CLOCK SPRING HAS BROKEN AND DISCONNECTED DRIVERS AIRBAG. INTERNET SHOWS THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM.
YESTERDAY MY 69 YEAR OLD MOTHER GOT INTO THE 2ND ROW CAPTAIN SEAT OF MY VAN. I WAS BUCKLING MY SON INTO THE OTHER CAPTAIN SEAT. ALL OF A SUDDEN SHE SCREAMED. SHE PULLED THE LEVER ON THE SIDE OF THE SEAT THAT ALLOWS YOU TO LEAN THE SEAT BACK AND THE HEADREST SNAPPED FORWARD WITH INCREDIBLE FORCE AND ALMOST KNOCKED HER OUT. I COULDN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT HAPPENED SO I INVESTIGATED.... THE LEVER THAT ALLOWS YOU TO TILT THE SEAT BACK IS ALSO THE SAME LEVER THAT RELEASES THE SEAT FROM THE FLOORBOARD AND SNAPS IT FORWARD SO THAT IT IS FOLDED UP TO GO DOWN INTO THE FLOOR FOR STORAGE. SO, IF YOU PULL THAT LEVER ALL THE WAY UP - THE SEAT SNAPS OUT OF THE FLOOR AND FOLDS UP LIKE A ACCORDION WITH A GREAT AMOUNT OF FORCE. IF YOU GENTLY PULL THAT LEVER UP A LITTLE BIT, BUT NOT ALL THE WAY, IT ALLOWS YOU TO ADJUST THE TILT OF THE SEAT BACK. IN OTHER WORDS, ALLOWS YOU TO RECLINE OR SIT UP MORE. I WAS SHOCKED!!! IF THAT HEADREST SNAPS FORWARD WITH ENOUGH FORCE TO ALMOST KNOCK OUT A FULL GROWN ADULT, WHAT WOULD IT DO TO A CHILD? HOW IS A CHILD SUPPOSED TO KNOW NOT TO PULL THE LEVER UP ALL THE WAY? HOW CAN I PREVENT MY KIDS FROM PULLING THAT LEVER? THERE'S NO WAY TO LOCK IT. THE VEHICLE WAS LOCATED IN THE DRIVEWAY OF MY HOME IN A STATIONARY POSITION. ON MAY 9TH 2018 WHILE DRIVING THE CAR DOWN A TWO WAY STREET NOT FAR FROM A SCHOOL ZONE IT BASICALLY LOCKED BUT THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN MOTION BUT I COULD NOT STEER BECAUSE THE WHEEL WAS LOCKED, I COULD NOT STOP BECAUSE THE BRAKE DID NOT WORK, I ALMOST CRASHED AND DIED. I HAD TO JUMP A CURB TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN AND AVOID ACCIDENTS. I WAS THEN ABLE TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND SOUNDS LIKE DEFECTIVE PARTS IN THE VEHICLE THAT NEED TO BE REPORTED AS A RECALL TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE PUBLIC NEEDS TO KNOW AS MANY LIVES ON THE ROAD ARE AT RISK AND WE WANT ANSWERS AND THE PROBLEM RESOLVED BY THE MANUFACTURER.
ON OR ABOUT THE DATE REPORTED IN THIS CLAIM THE VEHICLE WAS AT A STOP IN A PARKING LOT SPACE. NOTHING HAPPENED TO THE VEHICLE AND WITHOUT WARNING THE DRIVER SEAT ACTIVE HEADREST RESTRAINT, PART OF THE SAFETY SYSTEM AND DESIGNED TO MOVE UP AND TOWARDS THE HEAD IN THE CASE OF A REAR-END COLLISION, ACTIVATED AND STRUCK THE DRIVER IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD THROWING THE HEAD FORWARD. NO MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS SOUGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DODGE DEALERSHIP TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE AND AND THE CERTIFIED MECHANIC FOUND NO EVIDENCE/INDICATION FOR WHY THE ACTIVE HEADREST RESTRAINT SHOULD HAVE ACTIVATED. FIAT CHRYSLER AUTOMOBILES (FCA) WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE SAFETY ISSUE AND A SERVICE TICKET WAS CREATED. ALTHOUGH NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THIS DEFECTIVE PART, FCA'S RESPONSE WAS THAT THE VEHICLE EXCEEDED THE BASIC VEHICLE WARRANTY COVERAGE AND THAT VEHICLE REPAIRS WOULD BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE OWNER. THE OWNER HAS FOUND MULTIPLE OTHER POSTS OF THIS SAME SITUATION ONLINE FROM OTHER OWNERS, INCLUDING VEHICLES WITHIN FCA'S BASIC VEHICLE WARRANTY WHERE AGE AND MILEAGE WERE NOT A FACTOR. AT THE TIME OF THIS CLAIM THE VEHICLE IS AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. THE REPAIR INVOICE CAN BE PROVIDED AT A LATER TIME UPON REQUEST BY NHTSA.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MARINA AUTO GROUP LOCATED AT 765 RIDGE RD 943 RIDGE RD, WEBSTER, NY 14580, (866)681-0102, FOR CONFIRMATION OF THE RECALL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RECALL NOTICE WAS PROVIDED TO THE MECHANIC. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SUBJECTED TO A RECALL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE SAME DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND THE CONTACT WAS AGAIN INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SUBJECTED TO A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND VIN WERE UNKNOWN.
PASSENGER SEATBELT BUCKLE PRETENSIONER DEPLOYMENT CONTROL - CIRCUIT OPEN. CAUSING A LOST COMMUNICATION WITH RIGHT B-PILLAR IMPACT ACCELERATION SENSOR, LOST COMMUNICATION WITH THE RIGHT DOOR TRACK IMPACT ACCELERATION SENSOR AND SEAT BELT LIGHT. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY.
WHILE ACCELERATING CAR SHAKES AND DOES NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY. ENGINE LIGHT FLASHES AND DINGS AND THEN STAYS ON. MECHANIC SAYS #2 CYLINDER HEAD FAILURE. CHRYSLER NOT INCLUDING OUR PARTICULAR VEHICLE IN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM (I.E. #2 CYLINDER HEAD FAILURE). THIS TYPICALLY OCCURRED WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP BUT WOULD HAPPEN DURING HIGHWAY DRIVING AS WELL
PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR OPENS BY ITSELF. FINALLY HAD TO LOCK TO KEEP DOOR SHUT. VEHICLE WAS STOPPED.
I BELIEVE I HAVE A FAULTY TIPM, YOU KNOW THAT PART THAT MANY, MANY OTHER DRIVERS HAVE DEALT WITH BUT YOU REFUSE TO DO A RECALL ON! I WAS DRIVING AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT TURNED ON, MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE FLASHING AND MY DRIVERS SIDE PASSENGER POWER DOOR SAID 'FUNCTION NOT AVAILABLE' WHEN I TRIED TO OPEN IT. AFTER DRIVING AROUND THE CORNER I FELT THE CAR BOG DOWN (ALMOST FELT LIKE IT WENT INTO OVERDRIVE) SO I PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. IT WOULD NOT TURN BACK ON. THE ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN OVER. THE HEAT TURNED ON BY ITSELF, THE ENGINE LIGHT, AIRBAG LIGHT, ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL, AND BATTERY LIGHTS ALL CAME ON AND STAYED ON. MY HUSBAND HAD TO COME JUMP ME AND I ONLY MADE IT A FEW BLOCKS FOR IT HAPPENED AGAIN. MY HUSBAND THOUGHT IT WAS THE ALTERNATOR DUE TO THE HEADLIGHTS AND DASH LIGHTS FLASHING SO HE TOOK IT OUT TO GET TESTED. TESTED FINE. TRIED THE BATTERY AND IT WAS DRAINED. REPLACED THE BATTERY TODAY AND THE BATTERY LIGHT HAS STAYED ON. WE DROVE SOMEWHERE AND IT BOGGED DOWN AND SENSOR LIGHTS TURNED ON. IT GOT TO THE POINT THAT IT WOULDN'T EVEN STAY ON WHEN JUMPED, DOORS WOULDN'T OPEN, I COULDN'T EVEN LOCK/UNLOCK IT. MY HUSBAND IS BEYOND FRUSTRATED WITH THIS. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE CAR AGAIN EVEN AFTER WE FIGURE OUT WHAT'S GOING ON AND FIX IT. THANK GOODNESS IT NEVER 'STALLED' WHEN I WAS ON A MAJOR ROAD/FREEWAY WITH MY 3 KIDS. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNSAFE AND NEEDS A RECALL AND TO BE FIXED! I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY $1,200+ BECAUSE OF A FAULTY PART MY CAR WAS BUILT WITH!
DRIVING MY VEHICLE AND ALL THE YELLOW AND RED LIGHT INDICATORS ON THE DASH APPEARED. STOPPED AND PUT IT IN GEAR AND ELECTRIC SIDE DOORS AND BACK HATCH WOULD NOT OPEN. I THEN TURNED IT OFF AND WHEN I WENT BACK TO TURN IT ON IT WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING. WAITED 10 MIN AND IT TURNED ON WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT ON.
THE. CAR HAD ELECTRICAL FAILURE STARTED WITH THE LEFT FRONTBTURN SIGNAL. NEXT MYNRADIO WOULD SHUT DOWN AND RESTART ON ITS OWN. THEN THE RADIO SHUT DOWN AND I HAS TO RESTART IT. NEXT THE DASHBOARD WOULD LIGHT UP THE ABS SYSTEM OR ENGINE LIGHT AND THEN CUT THEM OFF. NEXT IT SHUT COMPLETELY DOWN WHILE I WAS PARKED. IT WAS COLD THAT SAY AND A BOOST STARTED IT UP. NEXT IT SHUT DOWN WHLLE I WAS DRIVING A CAR FULL OF CHILDREN HOME FROM SCHOOL. IT LIT UP EACH WARNING LIGHT AND SHUT DOWN. IT WOULD NOT START WITH A JUMP. I HAD THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR CHECKED BY A SPECIALIST WHO APPROVED BOTH. NOW AFTER OWNING THIS VAN AFTER 9 MONTHS IM READY TO SEND IT BACK. I SHOULD ALSO MENTION THAT THE RIGHT PASSENGER DOOR WILL REFUSE TO OPEN BY SWITCH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE HESITATED WHILE TRAVELING UPHILL AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT A CYLINDER HEAD GASKET FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED THE IGNITION OFF. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, IT PERFORMED NORMALLY. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER (CARMAN CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE, 196 S DUPONT HWY, NEW CASTLE, DE 19720) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WOULD HAVE TO OCCUR IN THEIR PRESENCE IN ORDER TO ASSIST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 800-992-1997 AND STATED THAT THE FAILURE WOULD HAVE TO OCCUR IN THE DEALER'S PRESENCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000.

THE CAR SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING. I LOSE POWER STEERING , ALL ELECTRICAL , THE ENGINE DIES. I HAVE TO PUT IT INTO NEUTRAL AND RESTART IT. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. ONCE ON THE HIGHWAY. THE OTHER THREE TIMES WERE STREET DRIVING. CHRYSLER HAD MY VEHICLE FOR 6 DAYS AND COULDN'T FIND AND ISSUES WITH IT. ALWAYS HAPPENS WHEN IN MOTION.
BLIND STOP DETECTOR FAILURE
Door locks emit a loud, annoying "buzzer sound" when locking. The locking mechanism was inspected by a repair company. The cost to repair was more expensive than we cared to pay.
ONE NIGHT 2 YEARS AGO I WAS DRIVING MY VAN. I DROVE IT AS USUAL ON MY DAILY ROUTINE. I WENT HOME AND ABOUT 30 MINUTES OF BEING HOME I WENT AND GOT IN MY VAN AND STARTED IT UP AND IT STARTED NORMALLY JUST AS IT ALWAYS DID. IT RAN FOR PRY 3 TO 5 SECONDS ONLY AND JUST DIED. I TRIED TO START IT BACK UP AND IT WOULD NOT START. TRIED STARTING IT FOR AN HOUR AND IT WOULD NOT START. THAT'S WHEN I RESEARCHED AND FOUND OUT ABOUT THE TIPM PROBLEM THAT DODGE HAS. I NEVER KNEW FOR SURE UNTIL RECENTLY IF THAT WAS INDEED WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. UNTIL RECENTLY AND ONLY FOUND OUT BECAUSE I SOLD MY HOUSE AND HAD TO GET IT MOVED OUT OF MY GARAGE WHERE MY VAN SAT SINCE THE DAY IT DIED. I WAS NOT ABLE TO DRIVE MY VAN FOR PRY OVER 2 YEARS. MY VAN IS A 2013 AND HAS ABOUT 80,000 MILES ON IT. WE ARE THE ONLY OWNER. AFTER PAYING ALMOST $40,000 FOR A BRAND NEW VEHICLE I DEFINITELY DIDNT THINK I WOULD NOT BE VEHICLE LESS ANYTIME SOON. ONCE MY HOUSE WAS SOLD I HAD SOMEONE I KNEW COME TO TRY TO GET IT STARTED SO I COULD MOVE IT. A GUY LOOKED AT IT FOR A COUPLE DAYS BEFORE HE GOT IT STARTED. I WAS THRILLED. THAT'S WHEN I KNEW IT WASN'T THE FUEL PUMP THAT WENT OUT. TO GET IT STARTED WE HAD TO HOOK THE FUEL PUMP UP WITH A DIFFERENT WIRE THAT IS RAN TO ONE OF THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER SPOTS IN THE VAN. THAT WAS IN SEPTEMBER. THAT'S HOW I'VE BEEN DRIVING MY VAN SINCE. NOW THE OTHER DAY AS I DROVE OVER A BRIDGE MY VAN JUST DIED. REASON IS BECAUSE THE WIRE THAT IS PLUGGED INTO CIGARETTE LIGHTER TO FUEL PUMP GOT TO HOT AND BEGAN MELTING INSIDE THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER PLUGIN. THE WIRES BEGAN TO MELT AS WELL FROM BEING TO HOT. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS IT CAN START A FIRE IN SOMEONES VEHICLE. SOMEONE CAN BE KILLED BECAUSE OF THIS AND IT CAN BE PREVENTED IF DODGE FIXED ALL THE VEHICLES WITH THIS SAME TIPM INSTEAD OF JUST SOME OF THE VEHICLES THAT THE RECALL WAS FOR.
I WAS DRIVING MY FAMILY HOME FROM VACATION IN FLORIDA AND WHILE WE WERE ON THE INTERSTATE IN NEW YORK MY TOWN AND COUNTRY LOST ALL POWER, ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THE RED BATTERY LIGHT ALONG WITH ABS, TRACTION CONTROL AND ENGINE LIGHT ALL CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE WOULD GO ANY FASTER THAN 20 MILE PER HOUR.I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF AN EXIT AND FOUND A NEAR BY ADVANCED AUTO AND HAD THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR TESTED. BOTH TESTS CAME BACK OK. STARTED BACK FOR HOME AND WHILE DRIVING AGAIN THE CAR EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE.

BOUGHT VEHICLE LAST SUMMER AND NOTICED WATER ON THE FLOOR AFTER RAINS, WITH ONCE OR TWICE SEEING A FINE STREAM OF WATER ON DRIVER SIDE OF WINDOW FRAME PER WATER COMING IN. CAN'T KEEP FLOOR DRY. ALSO, IN THE SUMMER/FALL, PER POSSIBLE WATER IN VEHICLE, NOTICED FOGGY WINDOW FROM WITHIN, WHEN STARTING UP AND CERTAINLY NOW DURING THE WINTER, PER A FROST LIKE EFFECT, TILL DEFROST IS TURNED ON. TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM) MALFUNCTION CAUSES THE FUEL PUMP TO FAIL TO START OR RUN. THE INTERNET SHOWS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES. HAS ALMOST LEFT MY WIFE STRANDED IN BAD PARTS OF TOWN.
WHEN ENGAGING PARKING BRAKE, PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AFTER A LOUD SNAPPING NOISE. DEALER STATED ENTIRE PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY NEEDED REPLACING. VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON LEVEL SURFACE OF DRIVEWAY. VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 64,000 MILES.

WE PURCHASED NEW TIRES FOR THE FRONT OF OUR 2013 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY ON 9/29/17 FROM TIRES PLUS IN STILLWATER, MN. ON 10/10/17, JUST 11 DAYS LATER, WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH ON A SMOOTH, CLEAR HIGHWAY, THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE BLEW UP, CAUSING A HORRIFIC CRASH. THERE WAS A LOUD EXPLOSION, THE CAR VEERED OUT OF CONTROL, MY HUSBAND FOUGHT THE WHEEL AS IT SKIDDED ALONG THE GRAVEL VERGE. WE WERE ON 2 WHEELS, ABOUT TO FLIP, WHEN WE HIT A PAVED DRIVEWAY, WHICH SWUNG THE VAN AROUND FULL FORCE DOWN A DITCH INTO A PINE GROVE. AIRBAGS DEPLOYED, WE SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES (ALTHOUGH IT TURNS OUT THEY AREN'T SO MINOR AFTER ALL) THANKS TO SAFETY CONSTRUCTION IN THE CAR AND OUR SEAT BELTS. THE VAN WAS TOTALED. WITNESSES, THE SHERIFF, THE WRECKER DRIVERS (IT TOOK 2), AND (LATER) OUR MECHANIC AGREED THAT THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE HAD SEPARATED FROM THE RIM SUDDENLY, (HENCE THE EXPLOSION SOUND) AND WAS CLEARLY THE CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT. WE WERE 200 MILES FROM HOME AND NEEDED A HOTEL, HOSPITAL VISITS, AND A NEW CAR. RESIDUAL INJURIES ARE MINOR BUT IMPAIR OUR DAILY LIVES: WRENCHED SHOULDERS, PERSISTENT BRUISING, PTSD, AND THE TIME AND COST OF BORROWING MONEY TO GET A REPLACEMENT CAR. EVERY THREE TO FIVE DAYS THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START. THERE IS A CONSTANT 2 AMP DRAW ON THE BATTERY. THEY KEPT THE VEHICLE AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR ALMOST TWO MONTHS. THE TIPM MODULE, WIN MODULE, RIGHT DOOR MODULE AND RADIO HAVE ALL BEEN REPLACED BUT NONE OF THESE THINGS HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM CAN NOT BE RESOLVED AND YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHEN THIS ELECTRICAL FAILURE IS GOING TO OCCUR.

WE WERE HEADED TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE BATTERY LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED, AND THE CAR GRADUALLY STARTED LOSING ELECTRICAL FUNCTIONS AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST FIRST GEAR. NOW AT 58,000 AND EIGHT MONTHS LATER MY ALTERNATOR IS STARTING TO FAIL AGAIN AND I WILL HAVE TO HAVE IT REPLACED. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THE 160 AMP TOWN AND COUNTRY 3.6L ENGINE ALTERNATOR HAS THE SAME COMPONENTS AS THE ALTERNATORS IN 2010-2014 CHRYSLER 300, JEEPS AND OTHER MODELS THAT WERE PART OF A NHTSA RECALL. THE TOWN AND COUNTRY JUST HAS A DIFFERENT HOUSING AND ORIENTATION. I FEEL THAT THESE MODELS ALSO SHOULD BE RECALLED.
THIS STARTED ABOUT 4 WEEKS AGO, APPROXIMATELY 9/10/2017. THE VEHICLE DID NOT WANT TO START. WE WERE UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT THE BATTERY WAS DEAD. JUMPED THE CAR AND IT STARTED. AFTER THAT A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER MY WIFE SAID THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD JUST CRACK OVER AND HAVE THE KEY STUCK ON THE CRANKING MODE. THE KEY WAS TURNED BACK AND FORTH UNTIL THE VEHICLE STARTED. AFTER WHICH THE VEHICLE WOULD SHUT OFF. SHE WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR STARTED AND DROVE IT HOME RIGHT AWAY. THAT NIGHT IT DID THE SAME THING TO ME. I TURNED THE KEY 3 TIMES UNTIL THE VEHICLE STARTED THEN IT SHUT OFF ALL BY IT SELF. WE DECIDED NOT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE UNTIL WE COULD GET IT LOOKED AT THE DEALERSHIP. I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THE PREVIOUS YEAR CHRYSLER AND JEEP VEHICLES HAD A RECALL FOR A FUEL RELAY REPLACEMENT. THIS LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM AFTER READING THE SYMPTOMS. AFTER MY REASEARCH I WALKED OUT TO SEE IF THE VEHICLE WOULD START. THIS WAS SUNDAY MORNING. THIS TIME THE VEHICLE CRANKED AFTER TURNING THE KEY 3-4 TIMES. THE VEHICLE STAYED ON FOR 15 MINUTES, AFTER WHICH IT SHUT OFF. ON MONDAY MORNING I DID THE SAME PROCEDURE AND THE VEHICLE STAYED ON UNTIL WE HAD TO LEAVE TO GO TO WORK. IT RAN FOR 15+ MINUTES. TODAY IS TUESDAY MORNING AND WE ARE ABOUT TO SEE IF WE CAN DRIVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. IF THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE THE PREVIOUS MODEL VEHICLES HAD THEN I'M CONCERN THAT THE ENGINE MAY STOP WHILE MY WIFE AND KIDS ARE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND BE IN AN ACCIDENT.
