TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE AVENGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VOLTAGE INDICATOR BEGAN TO ILLUMINATE AND THE ENGINE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE INTO A TURNING LANE WITH LESS TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND A FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PERSONAL MECHANIC AND THE ALTERNATOR WAS REPLACED. TWO WEEKS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE CONTACT REMAINED ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY FOR THREE HOURS, AT WHICH TIME SHE WAS ABLE TO SUCCESSFULLY START THE VEHICLE. A WEEK LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED AGAIN. IN EACH INSTANCE THE VEHICLE WOULD START AND HAVE POWER, BUT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,631 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 93,046.
WHILE PULLING OUT FROM A STOPLIGHT AND ACCELERATING UP A GRADE, MY 2008 DODGE AVENGER MADE A LOUD POPPING NOISE AND BEGAN TO SPUTTER AND LOSE POWER. THE CAR WOULD NOT GO OVER 10 MPH AND A LIGHTING BOLT SYMBOL APPEARED ON MY DASH DISPLAY. I DRIFTED THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND COULD NOT MOVE. AFTER LETTING IT SIT AND TURNING THE CAR OFF AND ON, THE LIGHTING BOLT IMAGE ON MY DASH DISAPPEARED AND THE CAR COULD BE DRIVEN. SINCE THEN, THE CAR SPORADICALLY STUTTERS FOR NO APPARENT REASON AND I THEN PULL OFF THE GAS FEARING A REPEAT OF THE ABOVE INCIDENT. *TR
I WAS LEAVING WORK FOR THE DAY AND STARTED MY VEHICLE AS USUAL, BUT WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT FROM PARK TO REVERSE OR ANY OTHER MODE FOR THAT MATTER. I AT FIRST THOUGHT MAYBE I HAD NOT APPLIED ENOUGH PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE OR MAYBE I DID NOT TURN THE KEY ALL THE WAY. I STARTED OVER, ENSURING THAT I DID BOTH AND WAS STILL UNABLE TO SHIFT OUT OF ANY OTHER MODE BUT PARK. THIS HAS HAPPENED ALMOST DAILY SINCE APRIL 9TH, 2012 WITH THE ONLY REMEDY BEING THAT THOUSANDS OF OTHERS HAVE COMPLAINED AND BLOGGED ABOUT IT ONLINE AND POSTED QUICK FIX REMEDIES FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. IF THOUSANDS OF OTHER DODGE DRIVERS ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE, WHY HASN'T A RECALL BEEN ISSUED? *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE AVENGER EQUIPPED WITH BRIDGE STONE TURANZA EL41 TIRES, SIZE: 215/16.5R17. THE CONTACT WAS ADDING AIR TO THE TIRES AND NOTICED THAT THE PLASTIC VALVE COVER WAS MISSING, CAUSING AIR TO SEEP FROM THE TIRES. THE CONTACT DROVE TO HIS RESIDENCE WHEN HE THEN NOTICED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE HAD BECOME FLAT. THE TIRES WERE TAKEN TO A LOCAL TIRE SHOP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE AIR PRESSER SENOR FAILED. THE TIRES WERE NOT REPLACED AND THE AIR PRESSURE SENSOR WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 32,111. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
DRIVING MY CAR FINE ONE MINUTE,GET IN IT THE NEXT DAY AND THERE'S AN LIGHTING BOLT ON MY DASH. THE CAR WON'T GO OVER 20MPH. THE LIGHT BLINKS THAN I SHUT CAR OFF AND RESTART IT AND THE LIGHT JUST STAYS ON. COUPLE WEEKS LATER THE LIGHT GOES AWAY. THEN WEEKS LATER AFTER A MONTH OF NO LIGHT,LIGHT COMES BACK ON. I TAKE IT TO DEALER AND THEY SAY THE CODES FOR THE THROTTLE SHOWED UP. THEY CLEANED IT OUT,PUT A NEW FILTER ON AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. DRIVING FOR A GOOD WEEK WITH NO LIGHT,HERE COMES LIGHT AGAIN. SOMETIMES IT RESETS IT SELF AFTER I RESTART CAR BUT NOW THE LIGHT STAYS ON. 20MPH. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO RECALL THIS CAR. TOO MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME CAR,SAME PROBLEM AND THEY JUST IGNORE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE AVENGER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED WITH AN INTERMITTENT ILLUMINATION OF THE WARNING INDICATOR. THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE ENGINE RESTARTED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESUME IN OPERATION. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED FOR THE MALFUNCTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000.
WHEN FILLING THE CAR UP YOU CANT GET 1.5 GALS IN BEFORE IT SPITS FUEL OUT ON YOU AND THE SIDE OF THE CAR. THE FUEL TANK IS COLLAPSING AND PUSHING FUEL OUT OF TOP OF TANK AND ONTO THE GROUND WHILE PARKED AND DRIVING REALLY WORRIED ABOUT CAUSING UNDERCARRIAGE FIRE AND I HAVE RESEARCH THIS AND A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. THE DEALER COST ALMOST $1,000 TO FIX IT, WE NEED TO MAKE THIS A RECALL FOR THE PEOPLE'S SAFETY AS WELL AS MY FAMILY'S THANK YOU. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE AVENGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE RACK AND PINION HOWEVER, THEY WERE UNABLE TO IDENTIFY EXACTLY WHAT IN THE RACK AND PINION WAS MALFUNCTIONING. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO THE CONTACT'S PERSONAL MECHANIC AND THE STEERING PUMP WAS REPLACED BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE MECHANIC THEN INSTALLED THE ORIGINAL STEERING PUMP BACK ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE AVENGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BOTH FRONT DOORS WOULD EXPERIENCE A FAILURE IN WHICH THEY WOULD NOT LATCH SHUT. THE DOORS WOULD ALSO EXPERIENCE A FAILURE IN WHICH THEY WOULD NOT OPEN. THE FAILURES OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V414000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES: DOORS: LATCH). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE AVENGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OVER 25 MPH. THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE SENSOR WARNING LIGHT WAS ALSO ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED BY A MECHANIC TO ADD FUEL INJECTOR CLEANING FLUID AND NEW TIRE OCTANE GAS TO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DID JUST THAT HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
I HAVE BEEN RECEIVING ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL ERRORS FOR ABOUT A YEAR NOW (LIGHTNING BOLT BETWEEN INVERTED PARENTHESIS). IT HAPPENS SPORADICALLY BUT SEEMS TO OCCUR MORE FREQUENTLY. THE LAST EPISODE OCCURRED TODAY ON MY MORNING COMMUTE TO WORK - 04/04/2012, APPROXIMATELY 0725. THE ERROR CODE WILL FLASH AND IT BECOMES MORE DIFFICULT TO ACCELERATE. WHEN I TAKE MY FOOT OFF OF THE GAS PEDAL TO DECELERATE, THE CAR WILL 'JERK'. SO FAR, I HAVE BEEN FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO CONTINUE DRIVING THE VEHICLE UNTIL I CAN FIND A PLACE TO PULL OVER. USUALLY, I CAN TURN THE CAR OFF THEN BACK ON AND THE ERROR CODE DISAPPEARS. THE CAR WILL DRIVE NORMALLY. I AM NOW EXPERIENCING THESE ISSUES 3-4 TIMES PER WEEK. THIS ISSUE IS CHRONICLED ON THE INTERNET WITH DETAILS IN DIFFERENT FORUMS. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ON-GOING FREQUENT ISSUE THAT DODGE IS AWARE OF. FROM WHAT I HAVE RESEARCHED, THE DEALERSHIP MECHANICS SEEM TO BE AT A LOSS ON HOW TO REPAIR AND SUGGEST DIFFERENT REPAIRS THAT DON'T WORK...UNLESS THAT IS THEIR AIM. IN A TIME THAT PEOPLE ARE FINANCIALLY STRUGGLING, THESE MANUFACTURERS NEED TO REPAIR THE ISSUES THEY KNOW ABOUT. *TR
THE TPMS WARNING LIGHT CAME ON BUT TIRES WERE FINE. AT THAT TIME THE ENGINE WOULD STALL AT TAKE OFF AND FOR A FEW MILES AFTER. AS FOR THE AIRBAG, WHEN I ADJUST THE DRIVERS SEAT, THE AIRBAG LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND STAY ON DURING THE DRIVE. I CHECKED FOR RECALLS ON THIS SITE AND FOUND THAT BOTH OF THEM WERE ON BUT WHEN I CALLED THE WARRANTY THEY SAID THAT MY VIN WAS NOT LISTED BUT THE YEAR MAKE AND MODEL WAS. I TOOK IT IN AND THEY CHARGED ME $100.00 FOR DIAGNOSTICS! THEY SAID THEY FIXED IT BUT IT STILL STALLS AND THE LIGHT STILL COMES ON.
I NOTICED A PROBLEM WITH MY CAR ON MARCH 29, 2012 AS I ATTEMPTED TO GET INTO MY CAR TO RUN AN ERRAND. MY CAR WOULD NOT START...CRANKED UP BUT WOULDN'T START. NEVER, EVER, HAD THAT PROBLEM SO I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO SINCE IT WAS ABOUT 7:30PM. I LEFT WELL ENOUGH ALONE UNTIL THE NEXT MORNING. ATTEMPTED TO START CAR AT THAT POINT AND MY CAR STARTED. I DROVE OVER TO A GOODYEAR FACILITY TO SEE IF THEY COULD FIND OUT THE PROBLEM AND I WAS INFORMED THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT WHATEVER PROBLEM I HAD THE PREVIOUS NIGHT BECAUSE MY CAR WAS STARTING UP. OKAY, FINE. WELL, ON APRIL 1, 2012, I WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY ROAD GOING ABOUT 45MPH AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR JUST STOPPED ON ME WHILE DRIVING. AS I TRIED TO TURN, MY STEERING WHEEL WAS LIKE IT WAS STUCK AND WOULDN'T MANEUVER. AT THAT POINT, I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE SINCE I WAS CLOSE TO A SIDEWALK. I TURNED MY IGNITION OFF AND WAITED A FEW MIN BEFORE TRYING TO START MY CAR AGAIN. TRIED 2 TIMES, BUT DIDN'T START UP. THE THIRD TIME I TRIED, MY CAR STARTED UP AND I WAS ABLE TO TURN AROUND TO HEAD BACK HOME BEFORE THIS PROBLEM HAPPEN AGAIN. I TOOK MY CAR BACK IN TO GOODYEAR THE NEXT MORNING AFTER EXPLAINING ABOUT MY CAR STOPPING IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING. THEY RAN A SCAN AND FOUND NOTHING. AFTER THAT, I WENT ONLINE AND SAW ON MOTORTREND.COM THAT A RECALL WAS ISSUED ON APRIL 2, 2008 WHICH WAS THE SAME MONTH I PURCHASED MY CAR. I CALLED CHRYSLER TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE RECALL BECAUSE I NEVER RECEIVED A LETTER. WAS TOLD TO BRING IT INTO A DODGE DEALER, WHICH I DID THIS AFTERNOON ON 4/3/12, AND THEY FOUND NOTHING AFTER RUNNING A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH MY CAR, THAT'S FOR SURE. BECAUSE A CAR JUST DOESN'T KILL IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING FOR NO REASON. A RECALL IS NEEDED FOR THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE IT APPEARS A LOT OF OTHER OWNERS ARE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM. I WAS DRIVING EAST BOUND AND I WAS T-BONED ON THE DRIVER SIDE BY A CAR GOING SOUTH BOUND ON WHOM RAN THE LIGHT. MY CAR SPUN AROUND AND HIT A STEEL POLE ON MY PASSENGER SIDE WHICH MY 10 YEAR OLD SON WAS SITTING. I HIT MY FACE ON STEERING WHEEL AND AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED ON DRIVER SIDE WHICH CAUSED TERRIBLE INJURY AND SCARING TO MY LEFT EYE WHICH IS STILL VISIBLE. MY SON WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF CAR SMASHED AGAINST THE DASH HAD TO GET OUT WITH THE JAWS OF LIFE. THE PASSENGER AIR BAG DEPLOYED AND DRAPING ON SIDES ALSO ON MY SIDE NOTHING DEPLOYED . TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE AVENGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW MADE A ABNORMAL NOISE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE WINDOW FRACTURED WITHIN THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPAIRED THE VEHICLE, BUT THE PARTS REPAIRED OR REPLACED WERE UNKNOWN. TWO YEARS AFTER THE INITIAL REPAIR, THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW FRACTURED INTO THE DOOR PANELING. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WAS DIFFICULT TO SHIFT FROM PARK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE A 2008 DODGE AVENGER AND WAS ACCELERATING AT ABOUT 45 MPH A LIGHTING BOLT LOOKING INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON FORA SHORT PERIOD AND THE ENGINE STALLED AS SHE LET OFF GAS LIGHT WENT OFF AND CAR SPEED LEVELED OFF, HAPPENED 2ND TIME THAT NITE. NEXT DAY ENGINE STALLED ONCE UPON ACCELERATION BUT NO LIGHT. TOOK TO DEALER SAID GAS PEDAL IS REMOTE AND SENDS SIGNAL TO THROTTLE BODY . WELL IN THIS CASE THROTTLE BODY DIDN'T RECEIVE SIGNAL. THE ENTIRE THROTTLE BODY HAD TO BE REPLACED, AS THE ACTUAL FAILING PART IS NOT SOLD SEPARATELY. EST COST $415. NOT COVERED BY CHRYSLER OR MY EXTENDED WARRANTY I PURCHASED. I PROTESTED THE SALES MANAGER OFFERED TO SPLIT THE BILL. NO THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PART AS I'VE HEARD NUMEROUS DODGE OWNERS HAVE SAME COMPLAINT. I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING AND IT SHOULD BE A RECALL. AS I SEE IT IS A DEFECTIVE PART. IT ONLY HAS 64,00 MILES AND 4 YEARS OLD. SUPPOSE IT STALLED IN A CRITICAL POINT, SOMEONE COULD BE HURT OR WORST. THIS PART HAS BEEN AN PROBLEM APPARENTLY FOR YEARS. SEEMS A REDESIGN IS IN NEED AND IN FACT PAST DUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE AVENGER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE WITHIN A FEW MINUTES. THE VEHICLE ALSO EXHIBIT A JERKING MOTION WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TWO INDEPENDENT MECHANICS FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE THROTTLE WAS CLEANED TWICE BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
MOTOR MOUNTS FAILED AND THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IT HAS HAPPENED. DEALER REPLACED FRONT MOUNT AND SAID THERE WAS A CHANGE IN THE MOUNTS DUE TO PROBLEMS BUT DID NOT CHANGE THE BACK MOUNT, NOW THE BACK MOUNT HAS FAILED. I THINK THAT IF DODGE HAD TO MAKE A CHANGE IN DESIGN OF THE MOUNT DUE TO PROBLEMS THEY SHOULD HAVE HAD TO CHANGE BOTH MOUNTS WHEN THEY CHANGED THE FRONT ONE. THIS IS JUST SO THEY DON'T HAVE TO SPEND ANY MORE MONEY ON A CAR THAN THEY HAVE TO. *TR
CAR STALLS ON HIGHWAY AROUND 50 MPH WILL NOT SPEED UP. NEEDS TO BE PULLED OVER TO REGAIN SPEED. LARGE SEMI TRUCK HAD TO BRAKE TO AVOID HITTING VEHICLE ON HIGHWAY. CHANGED MANY PARTS AND NOW WILL NOT GO OVER 50 AND SHIFT OUT OF SECOND. SPENT ABOUT $300 ON PARTS ALONE AND FRIENDS SHOP HELP WITH PROBLEMS. STILL NOT FIXED. EVER SINCE I PURCHASED MY 2008 DODGE AVENGER I HAVE BEEN BURDENED WITH A MULTITUDE OF ISSUES. MY CAR STALLED WHILE I WAS SITTING AT A RED LIGHT, NO WARNING..IT JUST DIED. TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT WAS ALWAYS ON. VEHICLE LAUNCHES/ JERKS FORWARD WHEN CRUISING AT A SPEED OF 45 OR BELOW. (AND THIS ALL HAPPENED WITH MY FIRST YEAR OF OWNING THE CAR IN 2008) IN 2011 GEAR STICK GOT STUCK IN THE PARK POSITION..I CAN GO ON BUT SECTION IS FOR AIRBAGS, WHICH DID NOT DEPLOY DURING AN ACCIDENT I HAD LAST YEAR, 2012. I SLIPPED ON BLACK ICE, WHICH SENT MY CAR INTO A TAIL SPIN RESULTING ME HITTING...ACTUALLY BOUNCING OFF OF THE GUARD RAIL A FEW TIMES. PRIOR TO THE 2012 ACCIDENT I HAVE HAD INSTANCES WHERE THE AIRBAG LIGHTS WOULD RANDOMLY TURN ON, INDICATING A PROBLEM..THEN SHUTTING OFF BY ITSELF. I WOULD SCHEDULE APPOINTMENTS WITH THE DEALERSHIP, BUT BY THE TIME THE APPOINTMENT DATE ARRIVES, THE AIRBAG LIGHT WOULD MAGICALLY DISAPPEAR! I CALLED DODGE CUSTOMER SERVICE TODAY, AS THE AIRBAG INDICATOR IS BACK ON AGAIN..I WAS TOLD BY THE REPRESENTATIVE THAT THERE IS NOTHING THAT THEY CAN DO FOR ME. SHE BASICALLY TOLD ME THAT I'M FRESH OUT OF LUCK, EVEN THOUGH THERE IS A RECALL, AND I AM EXPERIENCING THE EXACT AIRBAG ISSUE AS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL, OWN THE EXACT MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR VEHICLE. SHE SAID MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, SO THERE IS NOTHING DODGE CAN DO. I THINK THE ENTIRE 2008 DODGE AVENGER FLEETS ARE LEMONS AND IT IS ABOUT TIME DODGE OWN UP TO THEIR MISTAKES, THEY HAVE NO REGARD FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS SAFETY. MANUFACTURED AT USA CAR JUST STARTED SHAKING, TOOK IT TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER/SERVICE CENTER WHO IS NOW ARGUING IT IS NOT WARRANTY DESPITE CAR HAD SERVICE AT 30,000 KM AND PREVIOUS MAINTENANCES. NO REASON THAT A MOTOR MAY PRESENT THIS KIND OF BIG FAILURES WITH JUST 30000 KM. NO ALARMS SHOWN ON CONTROLS NOR OTHER WARNINGS. *TR
