FRONT HOOD - PAINT HAS BEEN BUBBLING NOW. DEALER NOTIFIED, ADMITS A PROBLEM WITH HOOD AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED WHICH COSTS 2,000.00. THIS A FACTORY ISSUE AND I DON'T FEEL THAT CONSUMER SHOULD PAY FOR THIS. REAR TRUNK LID - WATER LEAKS IN CARGO AREA AFTER EVERY RAIN. THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING AND DEALER HAS ALSO BEEN NOTIFIED. NO SOLUTION GIVEN AT THIS TIME.
WE HAVE 2 OF THE EXACT SAME 2012 DODGE AVENGERS ON OUR LOT, WE ARE NEEDING A RECALL EXTENSION AND POSSIBLE REFUND ON OUR EXPENSES FOR THE VIN I PROVIDED DUE TO THE FACT THAT WE HAVE ALREADY HAD TO REPLACE THIS PART ON THE OTHER AVENGER THAT WE HAVE. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT CAMPAIGN: 13V552000 AND MFR CAMPAIGN: N52 ARE ON ALL DODGE AVENGERS, SO TO PREVENT OUR COMPANY FOR PAYING FOR A PART THAT HAS A RECALL WE ARE WANTING TO EXTEND THE RECALL SO IT COVERS THE AVENGERS MADE FOR THE YEAR OF 2013. NOT JUST THE ONES MADE AFTER THE RECALL THAT WAS MADE HALF WAY DURING THAT YEAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE AVENGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE SITTING AT A TRAFFIC STOP, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT WAS A PASSENGER IN THE VEHICLE AND SUSTAINED MINOR LEG AND BACK INJURIES. THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE WAS THROWN INTO THE STEERING WHEEL AND WAS ALSO INJURED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED OF THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN FROM THE SCENE BUT WAS NOT INSPECTED TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH AFTER THE CRASH, THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 13V282000 (AIR BAGS , ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) . THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR THE COMPLETION OF RECALL REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY 2012 DODGE AVENGER SXT IS HAVING WIPER AND AC PROBLEMS. MY WIPERS GO ON AND OFF BY ITS SELF THIS BEEN GOING ON FOR THE PAST YEAR I'VE TAKEN THE CAR TO TWO DEALERSHIPS AND THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. I HAVE VIDEOS OF THE CAR LOCKED AND THE WIPERS ARE GOING OFF BY ITS SELF. WHEN DRIVING IN ACCLIMATE WEATHER THE WIPERS WILL STOP WORKING. THE AC HAVE BEGAN MAKING A CLICKING NOISE WHILE TURNED ON OR OFF. NOT SURE WHAT'S CAUSING THE NOISE. THE NOISE BEGAN AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO DO A RE-WIRING FOR THE WIPERS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 13V282000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AND WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD SURPASSED THE MILEAGE RESTRICTION FOR THE RECALL AND REFUSED TO SERVICE THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WAS OFFERED BY THE MANUFACTURER PERTAINING TO THE AIR BAGS. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS ALSO EXCLUDED FROM THE EXTENDED WARRANTY PROGRAM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,332.
UPON STARTING THE CAR IT BUCKS AND HESITATES ALSO BACKING INTO TRAFFIC BUCKING STILL AND ISSUE...DODGE HAS BEEN NOTIFIED NUMEROUS TIMES DIRECTLY FROM THE BBB AND NOTHING HAS BEEN RESOLVED THANK YOU!! *TR
THE HEATER IS BLOWING WARM AIR FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE BUT COLD AIR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND HE SAID HE THINKS THE HEATER CORE IS BLOCKED. I HAVE LOOKED AT OTHER COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME EXACT SITUATION AND HAVE COME TO FIND THAT IT IS A MANUFACTURES DEFECT. MY PASSENGERS FREEZE AND THE FRONT WINDOW ONLY DEFROSTS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE CAUSING POOR VISIBILITY ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE AVERAGE COST TO REPAIR IS AROUND $1200 AND I DON'T THINK CAR OWNERS SHOULD HAVE TO PAY THAT KIND OF MONEY ON AN ISSUE THAT WAS CAUSED BY THE MANUFACTURER. I WOULD THINK THAT IT WOULD CAUSE FURTHER DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE IF CERTAIN PARTS ARE NOT RECEIVING COOLANT.

WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE POWERED OFF AND ALTHOUGH THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO BE RESTART THE VEHICLE, THE FAILURE RECURRED AND WILL NOT START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER/INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION AND TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE INCIDENT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46000.
I PURCHASED THIS CAR BRAND NEW IN 2012. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING IT FOR ABOUT 3 YEARS WITH NO HEAT ON PASSENGER SIDE. THIS CAUSES NO TO LITTLE VISIBILITY ON FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW AND THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. I HAVE PAID TO HAVE SOME OF THE VENDOR DOORS REPLACED TO NO FIX TO THIS ISSUE.
WHEN I TURN ON HEAT OR AIR IT MAKE A ON GOING NOISE WHILE ON. WHEN AIR IS ON IT MAKES ONGOING NOISE AND LEAKS WATER UNDERNEATH GLOVE COMPARTMENT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THROUGH THE MOUNTAINS IN MARYLAND,I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE ENTIRE CAR SHUDDERED. THE ROTORS WERE APPARENTLY WARPED AND THE CAR WAS DIFFICULT TO SLOW DOWN OR STOP. THE MORE THE BRAKE TEMPERATURE INCREASED THE MORE DIFFICULT IT BECAME TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN. MOST OF THE MILEAGE ON THE CAR IS HIGHWAY OR COUNTRY ROADS, AS I LIVE IN A SUBURBAN AREA. THE BRAKES STILL ACT UP IN FLAT AREAS JUST NOT AS BAD AS THEY DID IN THE MOUNTAINS. I HAVE A SIX SPEED 2.4L, 4 CYLINDER IN THE AVENGER. BEFORE AND AFTER HAVING THE TRANSMISSION FLUSHED THE TRANSMISSION WOULD DOWNSHIFT HARD BETWEEN 3RD AND 2ND GEAR AND 2ND AND 1ST GEAR. WHEN I BACKED OUT AND PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE, IF YOU DIDN'T WAIT FOR ABOUT THREE SECONDS PRIOR TO ACCELERATING THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SLIP THEN BANG INTO GEAR A TAKE OFF. THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT BUT YOU STILL HAVE TO WAIT FOR IT TO LOCK INTO DRIVE BEFORE TAKING OFF. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT WITH 36,000 MILES ON IT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE AVENGER SE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH IN RAINY WEATHER CONDITIONS THE VEHICLE HYDRO-PLANED AND THEN CRASHED INTO A STEEL CABLE BARRIER. THE ONLY AIR BAGS THAT DEPLOYED WERE THE FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER'S SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS. THE FRONT PASSENGER STRUCK THE WINDSHIELD WHO SUSTAINED SEVERE WHIPLASH. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,800. UPDATED 9/17/13*CN
IT HAS A MANUFACTURES DEFECT IN THE REAR END IT HAS BEEN INTO THE DODGE AT LEAST 10 TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM DODGE HAS SENT A TECHNICIAN TO CHAMPAIGN TO LOOK AT THIS PROBLEM AND HE TOLD THE MECHANICS IT WAS A MANUFACTURES DEFECT WITH THE REAR END AND THEIR WAS NO FIX KNOWN. WE HAVE HAS TO HAVE THE UNDERCARRIAGE TIGHTENED ON THE CAR FOUR TIMES BECAUSE OF HOW THE CAR HANDLED AND VIBRATED IT ACTUALLY LOOSENS THE UNDERCARRIAGE WE HAVE PUT ROUGHLY 10 TO 12,000 MILES ON THE CAR WHEN WE GOT THE CAR IT HAD NEW TIRES ON IT WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE TIRES ALREADY BECAUSE THEY GO OUT OF ROUND BECAUSE OF THE CAR AND OF THE WAY IT HANDLES THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT IT AT HAS A NEW OWNER NOW AND HE WONT RETURN MY CALLS AND WE WERE TOLD NOT TO BRING THE CAR BACK THERE ANYMORE I AM A 100 % DISABLED VETERAN AND I NEED A CAR TO GET BACK AND FORTH TO MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS I WANT THE CAR FIXED THE CAR COULD BE A DEATH TRAP THE WAY THAT IS NOW I KNOW DODGE DOESN'T CARE BUT I HOPE U DO MY CASE NUMBER WITH DODGE IS 24303490 I DO CALL THEM I WANT THE CAR FIXED THE VEHICLE HAS A MANUFACTURES DEFECT IN THE REAR END AND DODGE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT SO THEIR HOPING I WILL GO AWAY AND HOPEFULLY IT WILL BE OUT OF WARRANTY SO THEY DON'T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT I TALKED TO MR. THERE ARE 3 MEMBERS OF THIS FAMILY, USUALLY ONLY 2 ARE IN THE CAR AT ALL TIMES. THIS TIME, WE HAD 2 EXTRA PASSENGERS IN THE BACK PLUS THEIR CAR TIRE THAT NEEDED REPAIR IN THE TRUNK. WE WERE DRIVING AND HIT A DIP IN THE ROAD, NOT A BIG ONE, AND THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE RUBBED AGAINST THE CAR. IT IS NOT THE SHOCKS BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT THERE TO HOLD UP THE CAR, ONLY TO ABSORB THE SHOCK. THE TIRE HAS MARKINGS LEFT BEHIND WHERE IT RUBBED. THAT IS A SUSPENSION ISSUE. I HAVE ONLY HAD THE CAR 4 WEEKS. THE SALESMAN TRIED TO CONVINCE ME IT IS A NORMAL THING ON ALL VEHICLES. I WASN'T BORN YESTERDAY. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER, AND IF THERE WAS ANY WEIGHT ON THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE, IT WOULD START SHAKING VIOLENTLY. THE CONTACT LATER DISCOVERED THAT WIRING FROM BOTH REAR TIRES WAS EXPOSED FROM THE SIDES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED AN ALIGNMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED ON THE REAR TIRES WITHIN 8,000 MILES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT COULD NOT DETERMINE THAT CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,400.
13400 MILES ON CAR WHEN RIGHT REAR TIRE WENT FLAT. WHEN I TOOK OFF FLAT INSIDE SHOULDER OF TIRE HAD WORN THRU CORDS. TOOK TO DODGE DEALER IN COVINGTON, TN AND THEY SAID ALIGNMENT MUST BE OUT. NOTICED LEFT REAR TIRE ALSO SHOWING STEEL CORDS ON INNER SHOULDER. TECH SAID DIDN'T LOOK LIKE CAR HAD ALIGNMENT AT FACTORY. DID ALIGNMENT AND ALIGNMENT WAS .03 DEGREASE OFF ON ONE TIRE THE REST WERE WITHIN SPEC. DEALERSHIP CANT EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED, NO ONE IVE TALKED TO CAN EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED. 2000 MILES FROM HOME IN A NEW CAR AND HAVE TO SPEND 400.00 ON TIRES AND ALIGNMENT.....NOT HAPPY. *TR
IN LATE JUNE GOT A FLAT TIRE. WHEN I WENT TO PUT ON THE SPARE NOTICED BOTH REAR TIRES HAD WORN THRU THE STEEL ON THE INSIDE SHOULDER. TOOK TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME MUST BE THE ALIGNMENT. CAR WAS JUST UNDER THE 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY DATE BUT JUST OVER THE MILEAGE FOR THE WARRANTY. I HAD TO PAY FOR AN ALIGNMENT AND NEW TIRES. ALIGNMENT SHOWED THREE OF THE WHEELS IN SPEC AND THE FOURTH .03 DEGREES OUT OF SPEC WHICH THE DEALER SAID WASN'T ENOUGH OUT TO CAUSE THAT BAD OF WEAR ON THE TIRES. CONTACTED CHRYSLER BUT NO HELP. WENT TO OREGON IN NOVEMBER AND GOT JUST NORTH OF WHERE I WAS GOING AND STOPPED FOR A BREAK AND NOTICED BOTH REAR TIRES WERE WEARING ON THE INSIDE SHOULDERS LIKE BEFORE. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP ANOTHER ALIGNMENT AND SET OF TIRES THAT I HAD TO PAY FOR. ALIGNMENT WAS OUT AND HAD TO HAVE CAMBER KITS INSTALLED TO GET ALIGNMENT FIXED. ONCE AGAIN NO HELP FROM CHRYSLER YET. ON MY WAY HOME FROM OREGON WENT THRU A SNOW STORM, NOT A LOT OF SNOW MOSTLY BLOWING SNOW ACROSS ROAD. COULDN'T GO OVER 32 MPH BECAUSE THE REAR OF THE CAR WAS SWAYING SO BAD. COULD HARDLY KEEP CAR ON ROAD. TOOK IN TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY NEED TO DO ANOTHER ALIGNMENT AT MY COST. CONTACTED CHRYSLER ONCE AGAIN NO HELP. FIRST SET OF TIRES 13400 MILES, SECOND SET 21400 MILES NOW ON THIRD. WAITING FOR 12/9/13 TO GET CAR INTO SHOP. *TR
The right side of my cars heating does not work. There is only 1 vent (the driver left vent closest to the window) that actually blows luke warm air, but all the other vents blow ice cold air. This happens with the heater turn all the way up.

VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW ON JANUARY 28, 2012. THE TIRES WENT COMPLETELY BALD BY 12,000 MILES. ON MAY 28,2013 AT 33,000 MILES, BOTH TIE RODS HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS WERE WRAPPED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE TIRES WILL WEAR VERY FAST AND POSES A SAFETY HAZARD. *TR

ON NOVEMBER 28, 2012 AT 12,940 MILES BOTH FRONT TIRES WORN COMPLETELY DOWN. ON JANUARY 15,2013, AT 16,892 MILES THE ENTIRE RACK AND PINION HAD TO BE REPLACED. ON JANUARY 30, 2013 AT 17,365 MILES , TWO SENSORS HAD TO BE REPLACED. ON JANUARY 30, 2013 AT 17,365 , BOTH FRONT TIES WENT BALD AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. ON APRIL 30, 2013 AT 25,597 MILES, BOTH LOWER TIE RODS HAD TO BE REPLACED. ON JUNE 21,2013 AT 29,526 MILES THE ENTIRE ENGINE WENT OUT AND HAS YET TO BE REPLACED. *TR
I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK AND CAUTIOUSLY PRECEDED AROUND THE CURVY ROAD WITH MY STEERING WHEEL HELD TO THE RIGHT. WHEN I ENDED THE CURVE AND TRIED TO TURN MY STEERING WHEEL BACK TOO THE RIGHT IT WOULDN'T TURN BACK TO THE LEFT. THIS CAUSED ME TO CRASH HEAD ON INTO A TREE. THE AIR BAGS WERE DEPLOYED. *TR
AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON A SHORT 10 MILE DRIVE I PARKED THE VEHICLE FOR APPROXIMATELY 45 MINUTES WHEN I CAME OUT AND ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE AT WHICH POINT THE VEHICLE DID NOT START THE BATTERY HAD A FULL CHARGE AND THE GEAR SELECTOR INDICATOR ON THE DASH BOARD LIT UP ALL GEARS I ATTEMPTED NUMEROUS TIMES TO START THE VEHICLE WITH OUT SUCCESS AFTER TROUBLE SHOOTING I DISCONNECTED THE NEGATIVE CABLE TO THE BATTERY AND LEFT IT OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES AND THEN RECONNECTED IT AND ATTEMPTED TO START THE CAR WHICH DID START AT THAT POINT I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO MY NEAREST DODGE DEALER AND DROPPED IT OFF AT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THE RESPONSE FROM THE DEALERSHIP WAS THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO VERIFY THE ISSUE AND THEY PROMPTLY CALLED ME BACK AND RETURNED MY VEHICLE WITH NO ISSUE FOUND, ON THE SECOND TIME I TOOK IT IN ON 2/13/13 FOR SAME ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE NOT STARTING THEY KEPT THE VEHICLE AGAIN FOR A DAY AND FOUND NO ISSUE BUT THE DID REPROGRAM THE PCM AS PER TSB 18-023-12 BUT AGAIN WHEN PICKED UP THEY SAID THERE WAS NO REAL ISSUE THE VEHICLE IS LESS THAN A YEAR OLD AND HAS BEEN IN TWICE FOR THE SAME PROBLEM MY CONCERN IS THAT IT MIGHT HAPPEN WHILE IM DRIVING OR WHILE I AM FAR AWAY FROM HOME. *TR

ALSO, THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS HARD, SURGES (OVER REVS) WHEN COMING TO S ATOP, AND AT TIMES WHEN ITS DOWN SHIFTING WHILE GOING DOWN A HILL, IT SLAMS INTO LOWER GEAR.. THERE ARE ADDITIONAL BODY SOUNDS THAT I HAVEN'T ADDRESSED YET. I WAS TOLD BY MECHANICS AND SERVICE TECH'S THAT THIS WAS A COMMON SOUND FROM MY SIZE ENGINE. THE HAVE RAN UPDATES, YET THE NOISES ARE STILL THERE. I MENTIONED THAT AT IDLE WITH THE HEADLIGHTS ON, IF I WAS TO POWER ANY OF THE WINDOWS, THE HEADLIGHTS DIM AND THEN ENGINE DROPS FROM APPROXIMATELY 950 RPM TO BELOW 500 AND STALLED THE ENGINE. ... TRANSMISSION WILL GET STUCK INTO A GEAR AND NOT SHIFT. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. AFTER 1000 MILES, TRANSMISSION AGAIN MALFUNCTIONS AND TOWED TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. THE POWER STEERING FLUID IS LEAKING, THE RESEVOIR WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY AND I HAD ALL THE FLUID ALL UNDER THE MY CAR AND THE STEERING WHEEL IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN.. I LIVE FIVE TO 10 MILES FROM THE DEALERSHIP, SO I WENT TO GENE'S DODGE OF FAIRBANKS ON 11/27/2012 AT 5:30 PM ALASKA TIME. ONE OF THE MECHANIC CAME TO LOOK AT MY CAR AND WHEN I STARTED TO HE KNEW JUST BY THE SOUND IT WAS TO POWER STEERING RESEVOIR WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY AND NOTICED THAT THERE WAS ALSO A LEAK. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR 12/06/2012 AND WAS TOP OFF WITH ATF+4. THE NEXT DAY I WENT TO WORK NO ISSUES, IT WASN'T 3PM ON 11/28/2012, MY CAR WAS MAKING THE SAME NOISE AND WHEN I CHECKED AND SAW THAT MY POWER STEERING WAS OUT OF FLUID AGAIN SO WHEN I REFILLED IT IT TOOK A WHOLE QUART. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP RIGHT AWAY AND TOOK THE CAR TO THEM AND GOT A RENTAL COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY. THE NEXT DAY ON 11/29/2012 I PICK UP MY CAR AND WAS TOLD THAT THE POWER STEERING HIGHT PRESSURE HOSE CRACKED AND WAS REPLACED AND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND THAT IS WHY THEY KEEP THE PART IN STOCK ALSO THAT THEY WILL SEE ME BEFORE WINTER IS OVER. DRIVING CAR DOWN I-20 ON A CLEAR DAY. WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE WINDSHIELD BLADES CAME ON AND STAYED ON FOR SEVERAL MINUETS., THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL MORE TIMES. DEALER SAID THERE WAS NO PROBLEM, BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT SEE A CODE. SEVERAL MONTHS LATER IT WAS STORMING AND YOU COULD VAGUELY SEE SEVERAL YARDS IN FRONT OF YOU. I JUST BOUGHT MY 2012 SE A FEW MONTHS AGO. I'VE NOTICED SOME ROUGH SHIFTING WITH MY 4 SPEED TRANSMISSION, PARTICULARLY WHEN DOWNSHIFTING AT ABOUT 25-50 MPH. THE FEELING FROM THE TRANSMISSION ALMOST SEEMS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS STUMBLING DOWN THE GEARS, RATHER THEN A SMOOTH DOWNSHIFT. THE ROUGH DOWNSHIFT IS VERY NOTICEABLE AND IRRITATING. OF COURSE WITH THIS BEING A BRAND NEW CAR I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE TRANNY AND TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY GAVE ME THE STANDARD "WE CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT" ROUTINE AND CLAIMED THAT THEY DID A REFLASH ON THE TRANS. 07/07/12, 16,214 MILES: VEHICLE WENT INTO SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR 16000 MILE ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, TO INCLUDE: LUBE, OIL, FILTER; TIRE ROTATION; AIR FILTER; INSPECT BRAKE LININGS; INSPECT EXHAUST SYSTEM; AND INSPECT THE FRONT SUSPENSION, TIE ROD ENDS AND BOOT SEALS FOR CRACKS OR LEAKS AND ALL PARTS FOR DAMAGE, WEAR, IMPROPER LOOSENESS OR END PLAY. IT WAS DISCOVERED DURING THAT ROUTINE SERVICE THAT THE GOODYEAR EAGLE LSII TIRES ON MY CAR SHOWED SIGNS OF SIDEWALL SEPARATION. TIRES WERE REPLACED AT OWNER EXPENSE, 07/10/12 AT 16,463 MILEAGE. FOLLOWING THE TIRE REPLACEMENT (ONE WEEK LATER) HEARD A POPPING IN THE FRONT SUSPENSION (THAT WAS JUST INSPECTED ON 07/07/12), CALLED DEALERSHIP TO TAKE IT IN FOR DIAGNOSIS/REPAIR (WENT IN 07/19/12 AT 1:30PM). WAS SENT HOME, IN AFFECTED VEHICLE, STATING THAT THE MECHANISMS IN THE STEERING BOX WAS THE SOURCE OF THE NOISE. WAS TOLD AT THAT TIME THE VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO DRIVE, NO LOANER WOULD BE PROVIDED. THE PARTS WERE ON BACK ORDER, AND AN APPOINTMENT MADE FOR 07/30/12. CALLED THE DEALERSHIP ON 07/28/12 TO CONFIRM PARTS ARRIVAL AND SERVICE APPOINTMENT FOR 07/30/12: DURING PHONE CALL, MATT FROM THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT STATED THAT THE PARTS HAD NOT ARRIVED YET, THEREFORE WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR THE SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT. CANCELLED THE PRE-SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT AND SAID THEY WOULD CALL WHEN THE PARTS ARRIVED. WHEN ASKED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE, HE STATED "WE WOULD PREFER YOU NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE UNTIL WE CAN GET IT FIXED". AGAIN, ASKED THE DEALERSHIP FOR A LOANER/RENTAL, AS THIS IS A WARRANTY COVERED REPAIR AND WAS REFUSED. IN DRIVING THE VEHICLE FROM THE 7/19 APPOINTMENT TO PRESENT DAY, THE POPPING ON THE FRONT END CAN BE FELT IN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE STEERING HAS BECOME LOOSER AND LESS RESPONSIVE. NOT TO MENTION THE POTENTIAL OF DAMAGE ON BRAND NEW TIRES FROM HAVING THE SUSPENSION MESSED UP. *JS

WHEN I REPORTED IT TO THE CAR DEALER SHIP THEY SAID THAT IS WAS JUST BECAUSE THE CAR WAS A NEW CAR AND IT WILL GO AWAY. I'M STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS I HAD THE FIRST DAY I PURCHASE THE CAR. EVER SINCE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW IT HAS HAD ISSUES WITH THE SHIFT POINTS. I WAS TOLD MULTIPLE TIMES BY HATCH DODGE IN SHOW LOW AZ THAT THE VEHICLE DIDN'T SHIFT RIGHT BECAUSE IT WAS LEARNING HOW I DROVE AND THAT IT WAS MY FAULT. WHEN THEY RE-FLASHED THE TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE THE SHIFT POINTS CHANGED DRAMATICALLY BACK TO STOCK CONDITION WHICH RESULTED IN VERY PREDICTABLE, SMOOTH SHIFTS. ONCE YOU HAVE DRIVEN THE VEHICLE OVER 200-300 MILES THE VEHICLE WOULD START TO "RE-LEARN" YOUR DRIVING HABITS AND THE SHIFT POINTS OF THE TRANSMISSION WOULD BEGIN TO GET SPORADIC AGAIN. DODGE CORPORATE TOLD ME THAT THEY HAVE NO FIX FOR THIS AND THAT AGAIN, IT WAS MY FAULT BECAUSE OF HOW I DROVE THE VEHICLE. OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED THAT IF THE VEHICLE WAS EITHER DRIVEN LIKE A HOT ROD OR VERY SLOWLY ALL THE TIME THAT THE SHIFT POINTS MAY BE CONSISTENT BUT WITH VARIABLE DRIVING HABITS (I.E. CITY AND HIGHWAY DRIVING) THE SHIFT POINTS WOULD ALSO VARY AND YOU CANNOT PREDICT THEM. I THINK THAT 2012 DODGE AVENGERS ALSO NEED TO BE INVESTIGATED ALONG WITH THE OTHER VEHICLES IN THIS CLASS SUCH AS THE DODGE CHARGER AND CHRYSLER 200 AS THEY CAME WITH THE SAME ENGINE/TRANSMISSION COMBO

THE APPROXIMATE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,287 AND THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,250.

I WAS MAKING A U TURN AND THE CAR STALLED, IT WAS STILL ON DRIVE GEAR BUT AS I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL NOTHING OCCURRED. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED AS WELL AS THE BRAKING PEDAL. HEATED AIR ONLY EXIT THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDSHIELD AND DRIVER'S SIDE DASH VENTS. PROBLEM PERSISTS THROUGH ALL CABIN AIR MODES, AND CIRCULATIONS. THIS SAFETY ISSUE EFFECTS VISIBILITY AND PASSENGER SAFETY BY FAILING TO DEFROST/DEFOG WINDOWS AND KEEPING CABIN TEMPURATURES NEAR OR BELOW FREEZING DURING COLD WEATHER (BLOWING COLD AIR INTO THE CABIN).
