A TECHNICIAN STATED FRONT CRADLE (CONNECTS STEERING, SUSPENSION, ETC PARTS) IS ROTTED & REQUIRES REPLACEMENT. CALLED CHRYSLER (800-247-9763) AND INQUIRED ABOUT CHRYSLER ACTION # 23-012-14, THEY STATED THEY EXTEND WARRANTY FOR REPAIRS ON 2007'S BUT WOULD NOT COVER MY 2008 DODGE CALIPER. THIS ISSUE IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. THE CAR IS IN GOOD SHAPE & I FEEL THIS IS DEFECTIVE PRODUCT AND SHOULD BE COVERED BY CHRYSLER/DODGE. I NEED ASSISTANCE IN HAVING THIS VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR COVERED IN FULL. *TR
THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER FOG/BLINKER GOES IS NOT ALWAYS FUNCTIONAL. WHEN THE FRONT RIGHT FOG/BLINKER IS NOT WORKING THE BACK BLINKS FAST TO INDICATE A BULB OUT. THE BULBS HAVE BEEN REPLACED THE WIRING HAS BEEN CHECKED FROM THE TIPM BOX ALL THE WAY TO THE LIGHT. I HAVE GONE OVER 2 MONTHS WITHOUT MY CAR TO SEE WHAT'S WRONG BUT NO ONE CAN FIGURE IT OUT AND THERE ARE NO CODES THAT GENERATE. THE TIPM BOX IS WORKING IN PERFECT ORDER AND THAT IS NOT THE CAUSE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO 4 DIFFERENT MECHANICS AND NO ONE CAN FIND ANYTHING AS TO WHY THE FRONT PASSENGER FOG/BLINKER IS THE ONLY THING AFFECTED AND WHY IT IS NOT CONSISTENT. IT ALSO EFFECTS FROM MY RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER HAZARD LIGHT IT WILL WORK IF THE FOB/BLINKER IS WORKING THAT DAY. AND THE HAZARD WILL NOT WORK IF THE OTHER ONES ARE NOT FUNCTIONAL THAT DAY. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR OVER A YEAR NOW SINCE LAST FEBRUARY OF 2015 BUY I CANNOT RECALL THE EXACT DATE ALSO THE MILEAGE WAS APPROX. 120,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE CALIBER. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, AN ABNORMAL TICKING NOISE WAS HEARD FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE ELECTRICAL THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE PANEL AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS EVENTUALLY TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS NO FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
A NOISE WAS HEARD THAT SEEMED TO COME FROM THE FRONT SUSPENSION WHILE DRIVING. INSPECTION LATER SHOWED THAT THE FRONT CROSSMEMBER WAS BADLY RUSTED AND HAS HOLES IN IT. BOTH THE FRONT AND REAR CROSSMEMBERS ON THIS VEHICLE ARE BADLY RUSTED. THE REST OF THE CAR IS RUST FREE. THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM ON THIS CAR. THE 2007 DODGE CALIBER HAS A SERVICE BULLETIN TO REPLACE THESE PARTS IF THEY HAVE HOLES IN THEM UNDER WARRANTY, HOWEVER I WAS TOLD THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO THE 2008 MODEL YEAR. THE DEALER AND CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE WERE CONTACTED AND WOULD NOT HELP. IF THIS ISSUE IS NOT FOUND AND REPAIRED IT COULD RESULT IN A CRASH. *JS
MY 2008 DODGE CALIBER 2.4L TURBO JUST GOT THROTTLE BODY ISSUES. I WAS DRIVING AROUND 30 MPH LIKE NORMAL AND MY CAR STARTED GOING BERSERK, HAD TO TURN IT OFF WHILE PARKING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IT SEEMS DANGEROUS I KNOW THIS CAN CAUSE ACCIDENTS. *TR
THE LIGHTS AND ALL DASH GAUGES TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING AND ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH COME ON. THE ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON UNTIL THE CAR IS TURNED OFF. WHEN RESTARTING ALL LIGHTS GO AWAY. THIS HAPPENS MOST OFTEN WHEN I AM BRAKING. NO PATTERN FOR WHEN OR WHAT SPEED. ABS SEEMS TO KICK IN FOR NO REASON DURING THIS ELECTRICAL FAILURE. POWER HAS BEEN LOST AND CAR HAS DIED WHILE DRIVING. I AM TOLD THIS IS THE TPIM MODULE FAULT THAT REQUIRES REPLACEMENT FOR $1,500.00! THERE IS LARGE AND COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS TPIM AND DODGE HAS WRONGLY NOT PROVIDED A RECALL FOR THE CALIBER. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,607.
TROUBLE SHIFTING INTO 3RD GEAR. REQUIRES DOUBLE CLUTCHING TO ENTER INTO 3RD GEAR AND ALSO GRINDS WHEN ENTERING. IT WILL SHIFT BACK INTO NEUTRAL IF GEAR SHIFT IS NOT HELD IN 3RD GEAR POSITION WHEN RELEASING THE CLUTCH. ALSO HAS INSTANCES OF TROUBLE GOING INTO 4TH WITH GRIND WHEN SHIFTING. ONLY GOES INTO GEAR 10% OR TIME; I MOSTLY SKIP 3RD GEAR ALTOGETHER. CHRYSLER/JEEP/DODGE SERVICE BULLETIN #21-011-08 (MARCH 7,2008) RECOMMENDS REPLACEMENT OF 3RD/4TH/5TH & REVERSE GEAR SYNCHRONIZER RINGS IF THIS OCCURS. IT RECOMMENDS THAT IF THE TRANSMISSION IS OPENED FROM ANY SERVICE THAT THESE RINGS SHOULD BE REPLACED REGARDLESS OF CONDITION. *TR
"TAKATA RECALL" IN THE YEAR 2014 I EXPERIENCED THE LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING IT . THE VEHICLE WOULD DRIVE BUT SUDDENLY WOULD LOOSE POWER AND STOP PULLING. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS THAT I NEEDED A TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT. ALSO I INQUIRED ABOUT THIS VEHICLE BEING ON RECALL AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WASN'T BUT AFTER READING SEVERAL COMPLAINTS, I FEEL THAT SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE A TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT IS VERY COSTLY. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE FOR TWO YEARS BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM.

I FIRST EXPERIENCED THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL PROBLEM LAST MONTH WHEN I WAS ON MY WAY HOME AND LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING TOOK IT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE SAID HE WOULD LOOK AT IT.. WHEN I GOT THE CAR BACK HE SAID HE CLEANED THE THROTTLE SENSOR AND SHOULDN'T HAVE ANY ISSUES PAID $75. WELL A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AND WAS ON THE ENTIRE DAY THEN WENT OFF. NOW WHEN IT CAME BACK ON AND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE LIGHT CAME ON WITH IT. THE CAR WOULD NOT GO OVER 2 MILES AS I WAS DRIVING TOWARDS THE LIGHT I HAD TO IMMEDIATELY TURNED OFF THE CAR AND TURN BACK ON. THANKFULLY THERE WAS NO ONE AT THE LIGHT BEHIND ME WHEN I DID THAT. BUT I RESEARCHED ONLINE AND SEEN THAT MANY OTHER HAS HAD THIS ISSUE WITH THEIR CARS DATING BACK 2007. MY CAR IS A 2008 WHICH SEEM TO HAVE BEEN FINE TILL NOW. I HAVE HAD THE ALTERNATOR GO OUT AND REPLACED FOLLOWED BY THE BATTERY BEING REPLACED THAT SAME WEEK. I'M AFRAID TO GET ON THE HIGHWAY WITH THE CAR NOW. IT'S KIND OF SCARY TO BE ON THE ROAD AND HAVE THE CAR JUST STOP ON YOU. AND HAVE SOMEONE BEHIND YOU NOT PREPARED TO BE STOPPING SO QUICKLY. I PICK MY GRAND BABY UP FROM SCHOOL AND I WOULD HATE TO HAVE THIS HAPPEN WHILE SHE IS IN THE CAR. I WANT TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES WITH THIS PROBLEM BUT DON'T KNOW WHERE TO LOOK. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE CALIBER AWD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WIRING IN THE HEATED SEAT FAILED CAUSING THE SEATS TO OVERHEAT LEAVING A HOLE APPROXIMATELY 7 INCHES BEHIND THE SEAT. THE CONTACT STATED THE REAR OF THE SEAT WAS WARM AND AN ABNORMAL ODOR WAS DETECTED. IN ADDITION, THE WIRING IN THE STEERING COLUMN FAILED CAUSING THE WIPER BLADES TO FAIL AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID TO ACTIVATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE MAIN WIRING IN THE STEERING COLUMN FAILED AND THE HEATED PAD, WIRING, ZONE, COVER, AND SEAT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE STEERING COLUMN WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE OVERHEATED SEAT FAILURE HAD NOT BEEN REMEDIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 97,000.

HI I GOT MY POWER MODULE REPLACED LIKE 2 TIME IN THE PAST YEAR AND IT WENT OUT AGAIN AND IT'S WE'RE ALL OF MY FUSES ARE CONNECTED TO SO MY HEAD LIGHT DOSE IT WORK AND I GOT PULLED OVER LIKE 8 TIMES AND JUST DIFFERENT THINGS HAS BEEN BURNING OUT. THANK U *TR
I WAS STOPPED IN TRAFFIC AT A RED LIGHT, TRAIN WAS COMING SO I WAS HOLDING MY BRAKES. IT FELT AS IF THE CAR WAS JERKING FORWARD NOT WITH ALOT OF POWER BUT ENOUGH FOR ME TO NOTICE. I LOOK AT MY DASH AND I NOTICED THAT A REDLIGHT THAT SEEM TO BE RED LIGHTING BOLTS WAS ON. I IMMEDIATELY PULL MY CAR OUT OF TRAFFIC. WHILE TRYING TO GET THE CAR OUT OF THE ROAD I NOTICE IT WAS SLOWLY ACCELERATING MY CAR DIDN'T GO PASS 20MPH. I PARKED THE CAR AND WAITED TO SEE IF I COULD JUST TRY TO DRIVE IT HOME WHICH WAS ONLY 1.5 MILES AT THE MOST AWAY. I HAD NO ISSUES BESIDES THE CAR WOULDN'T GO PASS 20MPH AND WHEN IT STALLED IT SEEMED AS IF IT WOULD JERK FORWARD, WHILE DRIVING THE CAR HOME. BEFORE THAT DAY I HAD NO ISSUES. *TR
I AM REPORTING A "POSSIBLE" SAFETY RELATED PROBLEM. ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS, UPON ENTERING THE VEHICLE AND STARTING THE CAR TO DRIVE, I NOTICED THE LOSS OF CONTROL / POWER TO THE FOLLOWING ITEMS: LEFT AND RIGHT TURN SIGNAL ACTIVATION, FRONT AND REAR WIPER ACTIVATION, FRONT AND REAR WIDOW WASH, CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATION, PARK, AND INTERIOR LIGHT ACTIVATION. (NOTE: HEAD LIGHTS DID ACTIVATE.) ALL ACTIVATION LEVERS / SWITCHES ARE LOCATED ON THE STEERING WHEEL COLUMN. PROBLEM WAS UNAFFECTED BY THE MOVEMENT OF THE VEHICLE, THE MOVEMENT OF THE STEERING WHEEL, OR THE MOVEMENT OF THE COLUMN POSITION. PROBLEM DISAPPEARED AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AND THE KEY REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION. UPON RE-ENTERING THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTING THE CAR THE PROBLEM DISAPPEARED. PROBLEM IS NOT CURRENTLY PRESENT FOR EXAMINATION. *TR
WHEN I GOT AN OIL CHANGE, THE MECHANIC DID AN INSPECTION AND SAID THE BALL JOINTS AND TIE RODS SHOULD BE REPLACED AS THEY WERE SHOWING WEAR AND PLAY. WHEN HE LET THE CAR DOWN AND SAW THE MILEAGE WAS 26,700 HE SAID THAT THE PARTS SHOULD NOT HAVE GONE BAD UNLESS I WAS OFF ROADING THE CAR. THE CAR IS DRIVEN 4 MILES ROUND TRIP ON PAVED MAINTAINED ROADS DAILY AT 30 MPH. AND ON OCCASIONALLY AT EXPRESSWAY SPEEDS OF 55MPH. I TOOK IT TO THE DODGE DEALER WHO SAID THERE IS NO RECALL OR KNOWN COMPLAINTS ON THIS VEHICLE. I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW IN 2007 WHEN THEY CAME OUT. *TR
I AM WRITING TO DISCUSS A POSSIBLE DANGER IN THE DESIGN OF THE FUSE BOX. THE FUSE BOX UNDER THE HOOD OF THE DODGE CALIBER APPEARS TO ALLOW TOO MUCH MOISTURE BEYOND THE UPPER SEAL. EVERY 10,15, AND 20 AMP MINI FUSE DEVELOPS EXCESSIVE OXIDATION ON THE CONTACTS. THE OXIDATION MAY CAUSE MALFUNCTIONS IN TWO WAYS. THE FIRST IS PHANTOM ERROR CODES AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS. THE SECOND IS THE CVT TRANSMISSION MAY SLIP OUT OF GEAR WHILE DRIVING CAUSING SUDDEN LOSS OF DRIVE POWER AND LEAD TO COLLISIONS. ANOTHER ISSUE THAT CONCERNS ME IS THE POTENTIAL FOR CIRCUITS TO OVERHEAT RESULTING IN ELECTRICAL FIRES UNDER THE DASH AND UNDER THE HOOD OF THE CALIBER. *TR
HORN STARTED GOING OFF RANDOMLY. SOMETIMES SHORT BURSTS AND SOMETIMES LONG SUSTAINED HONKS. TOOK CAR TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE TIPM IS FAILING. CAR HAS ALSO JUST SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING. *TR
MY VEHICLE WON'T STAY ALIGNED. AND NOW IT HAS A BAD JERK IN IT. YOU CAN BE GOING 10 MPH OR 50 MPH AND IT STILL JERKS YOU TO THE LEFT. YOU CAN FEEL IT IN THE STEERING WHEEL. WE HAVE PUT NEW TIRES ON IT SO MANY TIMES. WE HAVE BOUGHT TIERODS FOR IT AND NOTHING SEEMS TO BE HELPING IT. *TR
WE WERE NOTICING THE CAR BEING SLUGGISH AND NOT WANTING TO PICK UP SPEED SO WE MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO GET IT LOOKED AT. BEFORE THAT COULD HAPPEN THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT POPPED ON WHEN I WAS GOING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION, THE CAR WOULDN'T GO ABOVE 20MPH AND FELT LIKE IT WANTED TO STALL OUT. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS AND THE ETC LIGHT WENT OFF AFTER A FEW SECONDS. I WAS LUCKY IT WAS VERY EARLY IN THE MORNING AND THE INTERSECTION WAS EMPTY. I CONTINUED ON MY WAY TO WORK ABOUT 1/2 MILE AND THE ETC CAME BACK ON. I MANAGED TO GET IT TO WORK AND PARKED IT. I LOOKED UP WHAT THE LIGHT MEANS AND PROCEEDED TO GOOGLE WHAT IT WAS FOR MY CAR. I WAS SOCKED BY HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS EXACT PROBLEM FOR THE MAKE AND MODEL. I COULDN'T BELIEVE THIS ISSUE WAS NOT KNOWN OR RECALLED. CAR OWNERS SHOULD HAVE BEEN MADE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE BEFORE IT BECAME A HAZARD. I LEFT WORK AND PRAYED MY CAR WOULD MAKE IT THE 1/2 MILE TO MY HOME. UNFORTUNATELY , THE ETC LIGHT CAME BACK ON THEN STARTED FLASHING. AFTER READING OTHER CAR OWNERS POSTS I DECIDED NOT TO RISK STALING IT ON A BRIDGE SO I COASTED IT INTO A GAS STATION WERE IT CHUGGED OUT. I WALKED THE REST OF THE WAY HOME IN 85 DEGREE WEATHER. WE TOWED THE CAR TO OUR REPAIR PLACE, THEY HOOKED IT UP TO THE COMPUTER TO READ THE CODES, THEN THEY RESET THE CONTROLS HOPING IT WOULD BY PASS A GLITCH. IT DIDN'T. THEY THEN HAD US BRING THE CAR TO A DODGE DEALER TO BE REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS FAMILIAR WITH HE PROBLEM "THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME WITH THESE CARS." THEY COULDN'T GET TO IT UNTIL AFTER THE FOURTH OF JULY WEEKEND. THEY INSTALLED THE REPLACEMENT THROTTLE BODY $272.42 (PART 4891735AC) AT A COST OF 566.00 TOTAL. WE JUST GOT THE CAR BACK TODAY. IT IS RUNNING SMOOTHER BUT ONLY TIME WILL TELL IF THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED. UPDATED 02/27/2015 *JS

AFTER THE INITIAL FAILURE THE VEHICLE DECELERATED INDEPENDENTLY AND FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE INTEGRATED POWER MODULE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENTAL PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NEITHER DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 58,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY 2008 CALIBER HAD A REAL BAD TAPPING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE AREA, WHEN I WAS READING ONLINE WHAT IT COULD BE I FOUND THAT THE ADJUSTER PULLEY ON THE ALTERNATOR WAS THE CULPRIT, SO I REPLACED IT ONLY TO STILL HEAR WHEN ACCELERATING THE CAR MAKE A GRINDING NOISE LIKE RUBBING METAL TOGETHER FROM THE TRANSMISSION, I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND WATCHED THEM INSPECT THE TRANSMISSION, THE MECHANICS TOLD ME IT IS THE GEARS IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE CAR HAS 80,000 MILES ON IT, AND OF COURSE THE WARRANTY IS UP, THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY CAN'T HELP AS USUAL. BESIDES THE PULLEY AND THE TRANSMISSION THE BODY HAS CORROSION UNDER THE PASSENGER DOOR AS WELL AS IN THE HATCH AREA. I STILL HAVE 4 MORE PAYMENTS ON THE CAR AND SHOULD NOT HAVE TRANSMISSION OR BODY FAILURES WHEN THE CAR IS NOT EXPOSED TO HARSH CONDITIONS AND HAS 70,000 MILES. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER DODGE/CHRYSLER VEHICLE AGAIN. *TR

DURING A SEVERE RAINSTORM IN MY AREA, I WAS LEAVING AN EVENT PARKING LOT TO DRIVE HOME. WHILE WAITING AT THE STOP LIGHT I ATTEMPTED TO TURN ON MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS BECAUSE OF THE SEVERE RAIN. THEY FAILED TO START. WHILE SITTING AT THE LIGHT I RESTARTED MY CAR HOPING THAT WOULD ALLEVIATE THE APPARENT 'SHORT' IN THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS, BUT IT DID NOT. AS THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I WAS FORCED TO MOVE FORWARD. WHILE DRIVING SLOW, I ROLLED MY WINDOW DOWN AND ATTEMPTED TO GUIDE THE CAR TO A SAFE SPOT TO PULL OVER. I COULDN'T IDENTIFY A PLACE THROUGH ALL OF THE RAIN, AND ALSO I WAS DRIVING IN BUSY DOWNTOWN TRAFFIC. I STARTED TO SLOW DOWN MORE BUT LOOKED FORWARD AND ALL I COULD SEE WERE TREES COMING UP QUICKLY THROUGH THE BLURRY WINDSHIELD; I IMMEDIATELY JOLTED TO A STOP AS I HIT AN ISLAND/MEDIAN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. MY CAR WAS SCRAPED BY TREES AND PARKING CONES WHICH WERE LAYING IN THE MEDIAN. I HEARD SCRAPING AND A LARGE THUD AS MY CAR CAME TO A STOP. STILL IN THE RAIN, I PUT MY HAZARDS ON AND WAITED UNTIL THE POLICE ARRIVED. MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND I AM EXTREMELY IRRITATED THAT MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING IN A TERRIBLE RAINSTORM. THIS ACCIDENT COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE. COMPLETE FAILURE OF THE SYSTEM. CAR WAS NEVER TAMPERED WITH, NOR HAD IT EVER HAD A DEPLOYMENT OR ACCIDENT PRIOR TO THIS. I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY LEFT DRIVERS SIDE BACK WHEEL IT THE GRAVEL IN THE FAR LEFT LANE NEAREST TO THE GUARD RAIL. I TURNED MY WHEEL AND WHEN I DID THE CAR STARTED TO SPIN HIT THE GUARD RAIL HEAD ON AND SPUN AGAIN AND I WENT HEAD ON INTO A DITCH AND TOTALED MY WHOLE FRONT END AND MY INJURIES WERE DEVASTATING. I HAVE CONTACTED DODGE/CHRYSLER THREE TIMES INCLUDING PICTURES OF MY RUSTED AND CORRODED CROSS MEMBER AND THEY HAVE REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. OF COURSE THEY DIDN'T REALLY ADDRESS THE ISSUE AND THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. SO I ENDED UP PAYING OVER $500 TO HAVE IT REPLACED AGAIN. NOW, I HAVE AN ISSUE WITH MY DRIVER DOOR, THE SPRING HAS POPPED OUT AND NOW IT WON'T CLOSE! I TOOK IT IN AND THEY SAID IT'S GOING TO COST BETWEEN $1200-$1400 TO HAVE IT FIXED BECAUSE I NEED A NEW DOOR! AGAIN, I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FIND OUT THAT THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED TO A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH THIS SAME CAR! AND BOTH OF THESE ISSUES POSES EXTREME SAFETY RISKS, AS WITH THE ETC, THE CAR AUTOMATICALLY STOPS ACCELERATING. FOR THREE SUDDEN ENGINE FAILURES: 1) APPROXIMATELY APRIL 16, 2014 NOTICED SOME OF THE DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS BLINKED A LITTLE. STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT IT TURNED GREEN STEPPED ON THE GAS, THE CAR JUMPED AND STALLED IN TRAFFIC. WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AND GO ABOUT A 100 YARDS INTO A SIDE STREET. WAS MET BY LOCAL POLICE. GOT TOW TRUCK AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER. AFTER THE CAR WAS REPAIRED DROVE OUT OF THE DEALER BUT NOTICED THAT A DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHT WAS ON. 2) APPROXIMATELY MAY 2, 2014 THE DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS BLINKED AGAIN BUT THE CAR KEPT RUNNING. DROVE TO MY DESTINATION. WHEN I RETURNED TO MY CAR, TURNED ON THE IGNITION KEY IT WOULD NOT START AGAIN NOT EVEN TO CRANK THE MOTOR. GOT TOW TRUCK AND TOWED IT BACK TO THE CHRYSLER DEALER. AFTER THE CAR WAS REPAIRED, THE WARNING LIGHTS WERE DOUBLE CHECKED, THEN DROVE OUT OF THE DEALER. 3) APPROXIMATELY MAY 20, 2014 WAS GOING DOWN HILL HIT A SMALL BUMP CAUSING DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS TO GO ON THE CAR STALLED, ROLLED THE REST OF THE WAY DOWN HILL AND PUSHED IT INTO MY DRIVEWAY. I TRIED MYSELF TO FIX IT. PULLED OFF THE MAIN FUZE COVER AND PULLED OUT SOME FUZES THIS BROUGHT BACK SOME POWER TO RESTART THE CAR. THE FUZES WERE APPARENTLY TO THE AIR BAGS BUT GAVE ENOUGH POWER TO MAKE THE ENGINE RUN. MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH AN ELECTRICAL REPAIR SPECIALIST. DROVE IT TO THERE LOT. WAS ASKED DETAILED QUESTIONS ON HOW I GOT THERE. THE CAR WAS REPAIRED BUT WITH PROBLEMS, THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS NOT PROTECTED IN THE FRONT OF THE CAR AND WAS ADVISED TO GET A SPLASH GUARD. BUT WENT TO THE CHRYSLER DEALER PARTS DEPARTMENT. FOUND THAT IT WOULDN'T DO MUCH GOOD AND NONE EXIST TO COMPLETELY PROTECT IT. THE CAR RUNS FINE NOW BUT HAZARDOUS. UPON DOING SOME RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND THAT THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY GOES OUT IN THESE CARS QUITE A BIT. NO BODY IN MY CITY HAD ONE AND LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO SOURCE ONE FROM ANOTHER STATE. EVERYONE THAT WAS OUT SAID THEY WERE ON BACK ORDER. THIS FURTHER CONFIRMED MY THOUGHTS THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ALONG WITH READING ABOUT 10 OTHER CASES AND A CAR FORUM WHERE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MANY MEMBER THERE ALSO. I UNDERSTAND THINGS WEAR DOWN AND BREAK AND NEED TO BE REPLACED, BUT WITH MY CAR ONLY HAVING 70,000 MILES ON IT I FIND IT A LITTLE RIDICULOUS, AND ON THAT FORUM THERE ARE SOME WHERE THEIR THROTTLE BODIES HAVE GONE OUT AT 30,000 MILES. I'M JUST SURPRISED THAT NO BODY HAS BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED IN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. ONE PARTICULAR MEMBER ON THE FORUM I READ HE STATED THAT THE CAR HAD COMPLETELY DIED ON HIM IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION. I HAVE A 4 YEAR OLD SON AND IT JUST BUGS ME TO THINK THAT WHAT IF I HAD HIM IN THE CAR AND THAT SEMI WASN'T ABLE TO MOVE OUT OF THE WAY IN TIME? ALL I'M ASKING IS THAT DODGE EITHER MAKES A BETTER QUALITY THROTTLE BODY AND PUTS OUT A RECALL OR AT LEAST REPLACES THE THROTTLE BODY UNDER THE RECALL FOR FREE. CAR WAS ALREADY WARMED AND DRIVEN FOR ABOUT 5 MILES, AFTER STOPPING AT A GAS STATION TO REFUEL AND RE-STARTING, IT WAS IDLING VERY INCONSISTENTLY AND RUNNING ROUGH, SHAKING. THERE WAS A DASH INDICATOR FOR ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL FLASHING. I TRIED DRIVING IT AND THERE WAS JERKING AND PULLING AND THE TRANSMISSION WOULDN'T SHIFT PAST 2ND, CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE BEYOND 12-15 MPH. I MADE IT HOME (ABOUT 2 MILES) AND LEFT THE CAR FOR ABOUT 6 HOURS. UPON RESTARTING AND WARMING, THE CAR DROVE FINE. ABOUT 1 1/2 WEEKS LATER, THE SAME DASH LIGHT CAME ON, STEADY NOT FLASHING, CAR RUMBLED, THEN LIGHT WENT OFF AND THE CAR WAS FINE. THIS HAPPENED ON AND OFF FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS. THEN, WHEN READY TO LEAVE FROM WORK ONE DAY, I STARTED THE CAR TO WARM IT AND THE INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON, THE CAR WAS RUNNING VERY ROUGH, IDLE WAS FLUCTUATING BETWEEN ABOUT 500-1500 RPMS AND SHAKING. I LEFT THE CAR, ASSUMING WHEN I CAME BACK THE NEXT DAY IT WOULD START AND BE FINE JUST LIKE THE 2 TIMES BEFORE, BUT THAT WAS NOT THE CASE. I DROVE THE CAR TO A NEARBY MECHANIC, MAXING OUT AT ABOUT 15 MPH, STRANGELY THE CAR SEEMED TO PICK UP SPEED WHEN I EASED OFF THE ACCELERATOR, AND STEADY LOSS OF SPEED WHILE GOING UP HILL. THE MECHANIC COULD NOT FIX OR EVEN DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM, SAID IT HAS TO GO TO THE DEALER. IT SEEMS TO BE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE THROTTLE CONTROL. I WILL UPDATE IT ONCE I HEAR FROM THE DEALER LATER TODAY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE CALIBER. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE STALLED WHEN FIRST STARTED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL MECHANIC FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE TEST RESULTS DETERMINED A DEFECTIVE PCM. THE CONTACT DID NOT HAVE THE PCM REPLACED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND FILED A COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE CALIBER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE STARTING THE VEHICLE, IT JERKED VIOLENTLY. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT ACCELERATION POWER WAS REDUCED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE MANUFACTURER'S RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 107,000.
SECOND TIME THIS AS HAPPENED IN LESS THEN 3 YRS. DRIVING CAR NO WARNING LIGHT EVER CAME ON THE FIRST TIME. LOST POWER CAR DIED. HAD IT TOWED TO DEALERSHIP $600 COST NO REAL ANSWER FROM DEALER SHIP. NOW DEC 25TH 2013 DRIVING HOME AND LIGHT ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL INDICATOR LIGHT COMES ON . CAR PUTT'S ALONG . AGAIN THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED, SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED AND DODGE WILL HAVE A LAW SUIT ON THEIR HANDS. I AND MANY OTHERS WILL TELL OUR FRIENDS AND FAMILIES NOT TO BUY ANYTHING MADE BY DODGE . PRETTY SAD SOMEONE WILL HAVE TO DIE TO GET THIS COMPANY TO DO A RECALL AND FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN 2008. DECEMBER 24TH 2013 AT ONLY 43,000 MILES I HAD TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY WHICH WASN'T COVERED UNDER A WARRANTY AND I HAD TO PAY $367 TO HAVE FIXED. MY CAR IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION & WHEN I SPOKE WITH DIFFERENT DODGE DEALERSHIPS I WAS TOLD THAT IT'S JUST A GLITCH THAT HAPPENS TO SOME CARS BUT NOBODY COULD TELL ME WHY AT 43,000 MILES I WAS EXPERIENCING A MAJOR REPAIR! ALSO THE DEALERSHIP WHO FIXED THE CAR SAID THAT THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER IT COULD TAKE UP TO 3 MONTHS TO GET PART CAUSE EVIDENTLY THE PART WAS IN HIGH DEMAND. THAT TELLS THAT THERE IS SOMETHING FAULTY GOIN ON WITH DODGE VEHICLES. THIS NEEDS TO BE RESEARCHED FURTHER TO SEE IF A RECALL SHOULD HAPPEN! I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER DODGE NOT ONLY BECAUSE THE CARS ARE HORRIBLY MADE BUT THERE DEALERSHIPS ARE NOT CUSTOMER FRIENDLY (I EVEN CONTACTED THE DODGE CO. & GOT NOWHERE) AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN PURCHASED.
