DRIVING AT DUSK. NOTICED PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT WAS OUT. CHECKED IT THE NEXT DAY AND FOUND WIRING JUMPER HAD GOTTEN HOT AND BEGAN TO MELT. SAME EXACT PROBLEM I HAD WITH THE DRIVERS SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT 4 MONTHS PRIOR. HAD TO HAVE WIRING HARNESS REPLACED.
RIGHT LOW BEAM HAS GONE OUT THREE TIMES OVER THE PAST THREE MONTHS. AFTER FURTHER REVIEW OF THE WIRING CONNECTOR THAT HOLDS THE BULB, THE CONNECTOR IS MELTED AND WILL NO LONGER ILLUMINATE A BULB. AFTER CALLING CHRYSLER'S RECALL TO INQUIRE AS TO IF THEY WILL FIX THE ISSUE, BECAUSE THERE IS A SIMILAR RECALL FOR THE POLICE ONLY MODELS, I WAS TOLD NO. I WILL HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO HAVE THE ENTIRE HARNESS AND WIRING REPLACED. THIS IS A DESIGN DEFECT THAT CHRYSLER/DODGE WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR. DUE TO THE HEADLIGHT BEING OUT, I CAN BARELY DRIVE MY CAR. I AM UNABLE TO DRIVE MY CAR AT NIGHT FOR FEAR OF HAVING NO VISIBILITY OR A COLLISION. THE RECALL THAT WAS SENT WAS M01, HOWEVER CHRYSLER STATES THAT THIS RECALL IS ONLY APPLICABLE TO 2011-2012 POLICE VEHICLES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHT WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE AND A BURNING ODOR WAS PRESENT INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHT BULB HARNESS HAD OVERHEATED AND MELTED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEAD LIGHT BULB HAD BEEN REPLACED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER BUT NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE DEFECT WAS CAUSED BY A FAULTY HEAD LIGHT BULB HARNESS CONNECTOR AND THAT THE CONNECTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND NO SOLUTION WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HAVING THE VEHICLE SERVICED ROUTINELY, THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE WIRING FOR THE HEADLIGHTS WAS MELTED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
THE PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT APPEARED TO HAVE BURNED OUT. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE. THE HEADLAMP HARNESS FOR THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT BECAME SO HOT IT MELTED AND BEGAN SMOKING. THIS IS AN APPARENT SERIOUS PROBLEM IN THIS YEAR MODEL. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS AND THE ONLY RECALL IS FOR POLICE VEHICLES. THE REST OF US HAVE TO FORK MONEY OUT OF POCKET TO FIX A CLEAR AND APPARENT MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. THIS HAPPENED TO ME WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON AN UNLIT ROADWAY AFTER DARK. MY HEADLIGHT WENT OUT AND BEGAN SMOKING. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND DISASSEMBLE MY HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY TO KEEP IT FROM SMOKING. *TR
WIRING HARNESS ON LOW BEAM PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT FAILED (SHORTED OUT), CAUSING VISIBILITY ISSUES. *TR
THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT WIRING HARNESS HAS MELTED CAUSING THE LIGHT TO NOT WORK. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE NOW. I NOTICED THERE IS A RECALL BUT ONLY ON THE POLICE CARS. WHY ONLY POLICE CARS? THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE PAID FOR THESE VEHICLES WITH THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY DESERVE THE SAME TREATMENT. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES. THE RECALL NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED TO ALL CHARGERS IN THAT YEAR NOT JUST POLICE CARS. DODGE NEEDS TO CONSIDER ALL OF THEIR CUSTOMERS IN THIS ISSUE. *TR
THE MORNING OF JULY 5, 2013 I STARTED MY CAR AND ALL THE DASH LIGHTS CAME ON. IT HAD DONE THIS ONCE BEFORE BUT ONLY FOR A SECOND AND THEN ALL WAS FINE.THIS TIME THEY DIDN'T TURN OFF AND WHEN I STARTED TO DRIVE IT WAS MAKING "WHINING" NOISE. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THEM WHAT WAS GOING ON. THEY TOLD ME TO DRIVE TO THE DEALERSHIP RIGHT AWAY. THEY CALLED LATER THAT AFTERNOON TO TELL ME IT WAS THE ALTERNATOR WAS BAD AND CAUSING A SHORT. SINCE THE CAR WAS PAST 36,000 MILES IT'S NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY! IT COST ME ABOUT $800 TO REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR. I'M NOT SURE WHAT THE EXACT PROBLEM WAS WITH THE ALTERNATOR, BUT I JUST HAD IT AT THE DEALERSHIP A MONTH PRIOR FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND THEY "SAID" THE CAR CHECKED OUT FINE. I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH THIS CAR! 35,5019 MILES, THEY REPLACED 3 OF THE 6 PISTONS,THANKFULLY IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. 45,778 MILES, THE ALTERNATOR FAILED. AROUND 50,000 MILES, ONE OF THE FUEL PUMPS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT WAS CRACKED ON THE TOP. THE CAR SMELLED LIKE GAS FOR A MONTH AFTER FIXING IT. THE MECHANIC THAT REPLACED IT SAID HE HAS NEVER SEEN THEM BRAKE LIKE THAT AND IT WAS VERY ODD. RECENTLY AT ABOUT 57,000, WE REPLACED THE ACTUATOR IN THE DIVER SIDE A/C UNIT. THE NOISE STARTED ABOUT 6 MONTHS PRIOR BUT FINANCIALLY WE WERE UNABLE TO REPAIR IT UNTIL NOW. IT IS PAST THE MILEAGE FOR LEMON LAW BUT DODGE SHOULD NOT LEAVE THE CONSUMER TO PAY FOR THEIR MISTAKES AND POOR QUALITY. *TR
THE HEADLIGHT JUMPER ASSEMBLY MELTED AND BEGAN SMOKING ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THE PASSENGER SIDE DID THE SAME THING AT 35600 MILES. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE POLICE MODEL, BUT NOT THE STANDARD MODEL. BELIEVE IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE HANDED BY THE DODGE CORPORATION. *TR
DRIVER-SIDE LOW BEAM BULB APPEARED TO BE BURNED OUT - TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY FOUND THE WIRING HARNESS WAS BURNED (JUST AS DESCRIBED IN RECALL M05 FOR POLICE VEHICLES) AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. I REALLY WISH THEY HAD REPLACED BOTH SIDES SINCE THEY HAD IT ALL APART (HAVE TO TAKE BUMPER OFF TO GET TO HEADLIGHTS WHICH IS ANOTHER SAD STORY) - THEY COVERED THIS FIX BUT ONLY BECAUSE I HAD VEHICLE ON EXTENDED WARRANTY THIS SHOULD BE A PASSENGER VEHICLE RECALL TOO. NOW I HAVE TO WAIT AROUND FOR IT TO HAPPEN TO PASSENGER- SIDE (OR TO DRIVER SIDE AGAIN, SINCE CAUSE OF HARNESS MELTING SEEMS LIKELY TO BE SOMETHING DEEPER THAN JUST THE HARNESS/WIRING ITSELF - VOLTAGE REGULATION OR ??? I DON'T KNOW, BUT REPLACING IT WITH THE EXACT SAME PART DOESN'T SEEM LIKE A PERMANENT SOLUTION). *TR
THE LOW BEAM HEADLAMPS OF SOME VEHICLES COULD FAIL DUE TO AN OVERHEATED BULB HARNESS CONNECTOR. MY VEHICLE 2011 DODGE CHARGER HAS THIS PROBLEM AND CHRYSLER HAS A RECALL BUT NOT FOR MY VEHICLE. I CALLED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE WITHOUT ANY HELP TO FIX THIS IN MY VEHICLE. I WANT CHRYSLER TO FIX THIS PROBLEM IN ALL DODGE VEHICLES NOT JUST CERTAIN VEHICLES. YOU CAN FIND THIS ON THEIR WEBSITE FOR RECALLS. CHRYSLER IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011 AND 2012 DODGE CHARGER POLICE VEHICLES. CONSEQUENCES: THIS COULD LEAD TO LOSS OF VISIBILITY AND/OR BRAKING ABILITY, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. REMEDY: CHRYSLER WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE HEADLAMP JUMPER HARNESSES AND RELOCATE THE ABS/ESC SYSTEM FUSE WITHIN THE POWER DISTRIBUTION CENTER, FREE OF CHARGE. I WAS DRIVING GOING ABOUT 40MPH AND MY RADIO AND AIR START GOING ON AND OFF BY IT SELF THEN I START HEARING A WINING NOISE AND ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON DASH AND CAR SHUT DOWN I TRIED TO START IT AND NOTHING INFO SAID KEY NOT DETECTED I CHANGED BATTERY IN REMOTE AND GOT A JUMP AN HOUR LATER SOME THING WHAT CAUSES THIS PROBLEM. *TR
2011 DODGE CHARGER DRIVERS SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT WENT OUT DURING LOW VISIBILITY, FURTHER INVESTIGATION REVEALED THE WIRING HARNESS LEADING UP TO THE BULB OVERHEATED AND IS RESULTING IN INTERMITTENT OPERATION. IT IS SOMETIMES POSSIBLE TO MANUALLY MOVE WIRES TO GET THE HEADLIGHT BACK ON BUT EVENTUALLY IT GOES BACK OUT. HEAD LIGHT HAS BEEN REPLACED A COUPLE OF TIMES BUT THIS IS NOT THE ROOT CAUSE, ROOT CAUSE IS SOMETHING IS CAUSING THE WIRES TO OVERHEAT. *TR
LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT ON THE DRIVER SIDE IS OUT. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT THEY HAD 4 DODGE CHARGES IN ON THAT VERY SAME DAY DUE TO THE SAME ISSUE. I WAS ADVISED IT MAY NOT BE THE BULB BUT THE HARNESS AND WIRING. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CONFIRMED IT WAS THE HARNESS AND WIRES. HE SHOWED ME THE FRIED WIRES AND ADVISED THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE 2011 CHARGERS FOR THE VERY SAME ISSUE BUT IT'S ONLY FOR POLICE VEHICLES. IF THE PRODUCT IS BAD OR IMPROPERLY PUT TOGETHER THE RECALL SHOULD BE FOR EVERYONE NOT ONLY FOR POLICE VEHICLES. I HAVE SEEN OTHER COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS SAME ISSUE AND SOME PEOPLE HAVE DOCUMENTED THAT THIS ISSUE HAS CAUSED FIRES IN THEIR VEHICLES DUE TO FAULTY WIRING. THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE FOR EVERYONE. PLEASE MAKE THIS A RECALL FOR ALL VEHICLES NOT ONLY FOR POLICE VEHICLES. *TR
DRIVER'S SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT STOPPED WORKING. NO POWER IS GOING TO THE LOW BEAM BULB. THERE IS A RECALL ON 2011 AND 2012 POLICE DODGE CHARGER FOR THE SAME ISSUE BUT THERE IS NOT ONE FOR THE EVERYDAY CONSUMER. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS. IT SEEMS AS THOUGH DODGE DOES NOT CARE FOR THE CONSUMER. NOT SURE WHY WHEN THEY MAKE MOST OF THEIR MONEY OFF OF NORMAL, EVERYDAY PEOPLE. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AROUND WITH ONE HEADLIGHT WORKING. *TR
MY CAR CONSTANTLY DIED WHILE DRIVING, BEFORE STALLED DISPLAYED BATTERY SAVE MODE, THIS KILLED MY BATTERY MY CAR HAD ONLY 46 206 MILES I HAD TO HAVE MY BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR REPLACED I PAID $ 785.41 FOR THE ALTERNATOR AT THE DEALER AND $ 143.19 FOR THE BATTERY, THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS FOR A VEHICLE THAT WAS ONLY TWO YEARS OLD AT THE TIME, OBVIOUSLY THIS CAR HAS ALTERNATOR PROBLEMS WHICH IS A DANGER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE CAR AND OTHER PEOPLE OR VEHICLES AROUND IT, CHRYSLER HAS TO ISSUE A SAFETY RECALL BECAUSE THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR

LAST YEAR 2013,RIGHT AROUND 35000 MILES IN MY 2011 DODGE CHARGER,I TOOK IT IN TO MY DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON,THEIR RESPONSE WAS THAT IT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE FUEL BUT THEY COULD NOT TELL ME EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS BECAUSE THE ANALYSIS WOULD NOT SPECIFY IT,AND WE ALSO TOLD THEM THAT WE COULD SMELL GAS,THEY SAID THAT IT COULD BE THE GAS CAP BUT THAT WAS IT.WE FOUND OUT IT WAS ONLY WHEN WE FILLED THE TANK SO I WAS PUTTING ONLY 20 DLLRS CAUSE WE DID NOT WANT THE SMELL IN THE CAR.ON APRIL 2014 WE WENT TO PHOENIX WHICH IS A 3 HOUR DRIVE AND WHEN WE WERE ABOUT TO COME BACK MY BROTHER-IN-LAW NOTICED SOMETHING WAS LEAKING FROM UNDER THE CAR,WE FOUND OUT IT WAS GAS COMING FROM THE TANK,WE RISKED IT AND TOOK THE ROAD BACK TO THE HOUSE.THE NEXT DAY I WENT TO THE DEALER AGAIN AND TOLD THEM ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED AND THEIR RESPONSE WAS THAT THE WARRANTY HAD ALREADY EXPIRED AND IF I WANTED IT FIXED I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR WHATEVER COSTS IT WOULD TAKE TO DO SO, I SAID THAT I HAD TAKEN IT BEFORE I RAN OUT ON THE WARRANTY,AGAIN THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.WHILE SEARCHING IN THE INTERNET I SAW SOME ARTICLES DESCRIBING THE SAME SITUATION THAT I HAVE,FAULTY GAS HOSES,CALLED THE DEALER AGAIN AND AGAIN THE SAME RESPONSE,THAT IF I WANTED TO BE SAFE I WOULD HAVE TO FIX IT MYSELF. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH THE HEADLIGHTS WERE ACTIVATED. THE PASSENGER'S SIDE HEADLIGHTS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE WITHOUT WARNING AND THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR WAS IT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE BRAKING TO A STOP, THE VEHICLE STARTED SMOKING AS ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND DASHBOARD STARTED TO FLICKER. THE CONTACT THEN CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CONTACT AND SEVERAL CHILD PASSENGERS BECAME LOCKED INTO THE VEHICLE FOR SEVERAL MINUTES DUE TO THE DOOR LOCKS FAILING. THE DOOR WAS OPENED AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000. KMJ
PASSENGER HEADLIGHT DIDN'T COME ON. WENT TO REPLACE BULB NOTICED THE BULB AND CONNECTING WIRING HAD SERIOUS BURN MARKS ON THEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BATTERY SAVER WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A DEAD CELL IN THE BATTERY THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RETURNED IMMEDIATELY AFTER LEAVING THE DEALER. THE CONTACT RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND WAS ADVISED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND THE CODE WOULD CLEAR INDEPENDENTLY. THE BATTERY SAVER MODE CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DIFFERENT DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE ALTERNATOR WAS FAULTY. THE TECHNICIAN LATER DETERMINED THAT THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE REPAIR WAS PERFORMED. THE FAILURE RETURNED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY WAS BURNED OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT SINCE THE FAILURE PERSISTED THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE A NEW PCM WOULD RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
ALTERNATOR SHORTED OUT, CAUSING CAR TO STOP RUNNING WHILE DRIVING. SHORT IN ALTERNATOR ALSO RUINED BATTERY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT FAILED. A DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED IT WAS PROBABLY THE WIRING HARNESS THAT CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 61,000.
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE AT NIGHT, WAS INFORMED BY POLICE OFFICER THAT DRIVERS SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT WAS OUT. SOON AFTER, I TRIED TO REPLACE BULB MYSELF. FOUND THAT LOW BEAM HARNESS WAS BURNT/MELTED MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO REPLACE BULB. CAR WAS TAKEN TO DODGE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. PARTS REPLACED: HEADLIGHT HARNESS AND WIRING JUMPER. *TR
WHO: [XXX] WHERE: [XXX] WHEN: MARCH 29 2013 APPROXIMATELY 12:48 PM WAS HEADING EASTBOUND ON TINY TOWN ROAD. WHAT: VEHICLE TRAVELING WEST BOUND IN A PERSONALLY OWNED VEHICLE MADE A LEFT HAND TURN INTO A PRIVATE DRIVE (500 FT EAST OF HERITAGE POINT DRIVE) IN THE WENDY'S PARKING LOT AN 06 CHEVY HHR. CUTOFF TRAFFIC TRAVELING EASTBOUND APPARENTLY DID NOT SEE ME IN THE FAR RIGHT LANE IMPACTED WITH MY VEHICLE 2011 DODGE CHARGER. SPEED: APPROXIMATELY 45-50 MPH DAMAGE: UPON IMPACT VEHICLE SPUN RIGHT HIT THE CURB AND LANDED WITHIN CENTIMETERS OF A LIGHT POLE DRIVER (HAS PICTURES AS PROOF). RESULTS: COMPLETE DISABLED VEHICLE MAJOR FRONT END DAMAGE. SAFETY CONCERNS: DRIVER WAS WEARING A SEATBELT HOWEVER THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY UPON IMPACT.
