TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEAD LIGHTS FAILED TO ACTIVATE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, HE NOTICED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR WAS MELTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN VERIFIED THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V042000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 47,000.

I HAVE INCURRED TWO BENT RIMS WITHIN THE FIRST 3500 MILES OF THE VEHICLE'S OWNERSHIP. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW. THIS RESULTS IN SIGNIFICANT FRONT END VIBRATION AT SPEEDS OVER 45 MPH. THE WHEELS ARE CAST ALUMINUM ON MY VERSION OF DODGE CHARGER. DODGE OFFERS FORGED ALUMINUM ON THE HIGHER END MODELS. *TR
MY CAR HAS BEEN DYEING RANDOMLY SINCE I PURCHASED IT. I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY CAN FIND NO CODES AND WIPE THE COMPUTER. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, I HAD ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR A WEEK. IT HAPPENS WHEN I AM DRIVING AND THERE IS NOTHING THAT IS KNOCKING ANY COMPONENTS. IT COASTS TO A STOP AND I AM ABLE TO START IT RIGHT BACK UP. NO LIGHTS COME ON. I AM VERY AFRAID AND THE DEALER CLEARLY DOESN'T WANT TO HELP. *TR
PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT. I WAS ABLE TO TAP ON IT FOR A FEW DAYS TO MAKE IT COME BACK ON THINKING IT WAS JUST A LOOSE WIRE, BUT ONE NIGHT IT COMPLETELY WENT OUT. I BROUGHT IT TO PEPBOYS AND UPON A CLOSER OBSERVATION THEY FOUND THAT THE SOCKET WAS MELTED AND HAD CAUSED THE HEADLIGHT TO BURN OUT AS WELL. *TR

THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER HOWEVER, NO FURTHER REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT ONLY REFERRED THE CONTACT BACK TO THE DEALER. 2012 DODGE CHARGER SXT PLUS HAS BEEN DRIVING DIFFERENTLY, THE SHIFTER/GEAR KEPT STICKING AND WOULD REQUIRE TWO OR THREE ATTEMPTS TO GET IT INTO THE RIGHT GEAR, ALSO HEAVY VIBRATION UNDER MY FEET AND THEN THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO MAKE A LOUD WHINING SOUND, THAT THEY HAVE YET TO DIAGNOSE BUT STATED MORE THAN LIKELY IT IS A BAD STEERING RACK. MY SHIFTER HAS GONE BAD/MALFUNCTIONED AND MUST BE REPLACED AND THE CORPORATE OFFICE (CHRYSLER/JEEP/DODGE) AND THE REPAIR SHOP ARE GIVING ME THE RUNAROUND EVEN THOUGH I TOOK IT TO THEM MORE THAN ONCE TO ADDRESS THESE ISSUES. *TR

MY CAR IS MAKING A CREAKING NOISE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT. WHEN PARKED AND OPENING THE DRIVER'S DOOR THE SAME NOISE CAN BE HEARD. WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR IT STARTED MAKING THE NOISE AND I TOOK IT BACK TO DEALER SO THAT IT CAN BE REPAIRED. A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER IT STARTED BACK. WHEN I WENT ONLINE I FOUND THAT MY CHARGER WAS NOT THE ONLY ONE MAKING THIS TYPE OF NOISE AND THAT MANY PEOPLE HAD STRUTS, THE SUSPENSION AND OTHER PARTS REPLACED ONLY TO HAVE THAT SAME NOISE RETURN. I TOOK MY CAR TO A SHOP AND HAD IT LOOKED AT BUT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING. WHEN MAKING TURNS IT DO NOT MAKE THE NOISE BUT WHEN DRIVING THE CREAKING NOISE CAN BE HEARD CLEARLY. CAN SOMEONE FIND OUT WHAT IS MAKING THIS CREAKING NOISE AND TELL ME WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE TO REPAIR IT. VEHICLE DRIVER SIDE HEAD LIGHT WENT OUT 2 WEEKS AGO. SMELLED LIKE BURNT PLASTIC. REPLACED THE BULB WITH OEM SPEC BULB. SAME BULB WENT OUT, NOTICED PART OF THE CONNECTOR IS MELTED. HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR ONLY A YEAR. CALLED CHRYSLER, THEY STATED THAT MY VIN WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. CHRYSLER STATED IT WAS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO FIX. 10,000 POLICE EDITION CHARGERS WERE RECALLED FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. HALLOWEEN NIGHT ALMOST HIT 2 PEDESTRIANS TURNING LEFT, BECAUSE I COULDN'T SEE THEM. *TR
THE DRIVERS SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING. THINKING IT WAS THE BULB, I TOOK THE CAR APART TO REPLACE IT AND THE CONNECTOR WAS MELTED. I FOUND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL REGARDING THE WIRING AND POWER DISTRIBUTION AND CALLED THE DEALER AND SCHEDULED AN APPT FOR REPAIR. A FEW DAYS LATER, THE OTHER HEADLIGHT WENT OUT, AT NIGHT, WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE FOR ME AS WELL AS OTHER DRIVERS. THE DEALER REPLACED THE RECALLED PARTS BUT THE LOW BEAM HARNESS BULB CONNECTOR IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I CURRENTLY ONLY HAVE ONE WORKING HEADLIGHT AGAIN AND I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO PAY FOR REPAIRS MYSELF AT THIS POINT BECAUSE I CAN'T RISK BOTH LIGHTS GOING OUT AGAIN. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. *TR
IN A MATTER OF TWO AND A HALF WEEKS, I'VE HAD A MAJOR ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE. THE WIRE HARNESS CONNECTOR FOR MY HEADLIGHTS IN MY 2012 DODGE CHARGER WERE BURNT OUT, CAUSING MY HEADLIGHTS TO GO OUT. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE. THERE HAS BEEN A PREVIOUS RECALL ON 2011-2012 DODGE CHARGERS FOR THIS ISSUE BUT UPON CONTACTING CHRYSLER, THEY SAID THEY WERE UNABLE TO HELP ME DUE TO MY VIN NUMBER NOT BEING DIRECTLY EFFECTED EVEN THOUGH IT IS THE SAME ISSUE. AS A FIRST RESPONDER IT IS VITAL THAT I CAN SEE THE ROAD AHEAD OF ME, AND PEOPLE CAN SEE ME ALIKE. HOW MANY MORE TIMES IS THIS GOING TO HAVE TO HAPPEN BEFORE SOME ACTION IS GOING TO TAKE PLACE? I'VE TALKED TO SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE 2012 DODGE CHARGERS AND THEY'VE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. THIS CLEARLY ISN'T JUST WITH MY CAR, IT IS WITH THE MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR. *TR

I WAS TRAVELING AROUND 30 MPH AND AS I WAS BRAKING TO STOP FOR A TRAFFIC LIGHT THE CAR TURNED OFF BY ITSELF. I WAS ABLE TO RE-START AFTER A MINUTE. I ALMOST REAR ENDED THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AS MY BRAKES WERE DISABLED WHEN THE CAR SHUT OFF ABRUPTLY. *TR

DRIVING HOME FROM PIGEON FORGE, TN OUR 2012 DODGE CHARGER WITH THE 5.7 HEMI SHUT DOWN. THE ENGINE JUST DIED AND WE COASTED TO THE SHOULDER GETTING ALMOST HIT SEVERAL TIMES. VEHICLE HAS STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE IN CAR. SOURCE OF GASOLINE SMELL IS COMING FROM REAR SEAT DRIVERS SIDE, WHICH IS NEAREST TO THE FUEL FILLER PIPE. THIS MAY CAUSE FIRE AND OR EXPLOSION CAUSING DEATH AND PROPERTY DAMAGE. AND OR OTHER HEALTH ISSUES. *TR
I HAVE A 2012 DODGE CHARGER RT HEMI WITH 5.7L. THE ENGINE WAS DAMAGED WHILE DRIVING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION WITH ABOUT 5-6 INCHES OF WATER LEFT BY A HEAVY RAIN. MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING SLOW, FOLLOWING A PROCESSION OF VEHICLES WHICH ALL HAD SUCCESSFULLY DRIVEN THROUGH. ABOUT 10 MINUTES LATER THE ENGINE STARTED TO MAKE REALLY LOUD NOISES. I HAD TO CALL DODGE ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND THEY TOWED IT TO THE NEAREST DODGE DEALER. THE DEALER ADVISED ME THE NEXT DAY THAT ON 2012 DODGE CHARGERS THE AIR INTAKE SUPPLY IS LOCATED VERY LOW TO THE GROUND, WHERE IT ALLOWED WATER TO GET PUSHED UP AND INTO THE ENGINE CAUSING THE ENGINE FAILURE. I FEEL THAT IT SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE WARRANTY, BECAUSE OF A FAULTY DESIGN BY THE MANUFACTURER. AFTER SPEAKING TO SOME DODGE DEALERS ABOUT THE PROBLEM, THEY THOUGHT THAT THE REPAIRS WOULD BE A COVERED UNDER THE MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY. THE REPAIR HAD TO BE PUT THROUGH MY INSURANCE FOR ABOUT $8000 AND I'VE HAD TO PAY A $500 DEDUCTIBLE. I'M WONDERING IF ANYONE ELSE HAS HAD SIMILAR EXPERIENCES WITH WATER AND ENGINE FAILURE AFTER DRIVING THROUGH RAINWATER. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE. *TR
OPERATING MY VEHICLE WITH SEATBELTS EMPLOYED, I WAS STRUCK OFFSET HEAD-ON FROM MY LEFT AT THE DRIVERS FRONT HEADLIGHT FROM AN ONCOMING VEHICLE WHO'S DRIVER FAILED TO YIELD TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC, MAKING A LEFT TURN, CROSSING INTO MY LANE CAUSING THE COLLISION AND SUBSEQUENT EVENTS. MY SPEED WAS ACCELERATING AND WAS APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH WHEN HIT BY THE OTHER VEHICLE, REPORTEDLY ACCELERATING TO AN ESTIMATED 15 MPH. DESPITE THESE ENERGETIC COLLISIONS, NONE OF MY AIRBAGS EVER DID DEPLOY. AFTER THE INITIAL VEHICLE COLLISION, MY CAR WAS SUBSEQUENTLY SLAMMED TO THE SIDE AND OFF THE ROAD. WITH CONTINUED FORWARD MOMENTUM, "STANDING" ON THE BRAKES AND WITH NO STEERING CONTROL, I STRUCK A FIRE HYDRANT IN MY PATH FOLLOWED BY A LARGE TREE HEAD-ON. THE TREE COLLISION WAS SIGNIFICANTLY ENERGETIC ENOUGH TO CAUSE TOTAL FRONT END DAMAGES RESULTING IN REPAIRS APPROXIMATELY $20,000. IN ALL THREE COLLISIONS, NONE OF MY AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. I SUSTAINED HEAD TRAUMA AND WAS UNCONSCIOUS WHEN EMS/POLICE ARRIVED. I WAS DIAGNOSED IN THE ER WITH CLOSED HEAD INJURY AND OTHER MVA- RELATED TRAUMA. MECHANISM OF INJURY: AFTER THE INITIAL VEHICLE/VEHICLE COLLISION, MY HEAD COLLIDED WITH THE UPPER INSIDE DRIVER'S DOORFRAME WHERE THERE'S A HANDLE. WHEN MY CAR SUBSEQUENTLY COLLIDED WITH THE LARGE TREE, MY NECK SNAPPED FORWARD AND I STRUCK MY FOREHEAD ON THE STEERING WHEEL. IT'S MY OPINION AND THAT OF OTHERS, THAT THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED IN AT LEAST ONE OF THE COLLISIONS AND HAD THEY DEPLOYED CORRECTLY, MY INJURIES COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED OR, AT MINIMUM, BEEN LESS SEVERE. *TR
2012 DODGE CHARGER LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT ON THE DRIVER SIDE CONTINUES TO GO OUT. I HAVE A MELTED/FRIED HARNESS AND EXPOSED WIRING. HAS BEEN GOING OUT FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. I HAVE TO REPLACE BULBS CONTINUOUSLY BOTH OEM AND AFTER MARKET BULBS. THERE ARE OTHER OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE, ESPECIALLY ON THE DRIVER SIDE. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE POLICE VERSION, BUT NONE FOR THE SE MODELS, HOWEVER, THE ISSUES SEEM TO BE THE SAME. I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH CHRYSLER. VISITING THE DEALER TOMORROW TO ATTEMPT REMEDY. *TR
2012 DODGE CHARGER WITH POLICE PACKAGE. INITIALLY, VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AND HAD TO BE JUMPED STARTED. APPROXIMATELY ONE HOUR LATER, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 2,000 RPMS. THE DEALER REPLACED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR. TWO DAYS AFTER GETTING THE CAR BACK FROM THE DEALER, THE SAME SCENARIO OCCURRED. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR TO THE DEALER, IT WOULD NOT GO ABOVE 25 MPH BUT THEN WOULD SUDDENLY ACCELERATE TO 45 MPH WITHOUT DRIVER INPUT. I WAS ABLE TO SLOW THE VEHICLE WITH THE BRAKE BUT THIS COULD BE A SAFETY CONCERN FOR SOMEONE NOT PREPARED FOR THIS. THE CAR IS NOW AT THE DEALER WAITING REPAIR. *TR

WHEN SECURING THE BASE INTO THE CAR VIA THE LATCH SYSTEM, THE BUTTON THAT SECURES THE TETHER (WHEN PULLING THE STRAP TIGHT) GOT STUCK IN THE POPPED UP/OPEN POSITION AND DID NOT LOCK THE STRAP. REQUIRED MANUAL MANIPULATION OF THE BUTTON IN ORDER TO RETURN TO THE CLOSED/DOWN POSITION AND HOLD THE TETHER. ENDED UP SECURING THE SEAT VIA THE SEAT BELT. PROCEEDED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER ON MAY 7TH 2013 WHERE THEY RAN A TEST AND FOUND CODE P0741 -U0002- CHECKED FOR CONTAMINATED FLUID, RELEARNED TRANSMISSION SERVICED TRANSMISSION, RESET COMPUTER. THE CAR WAS IN THE SHOP AGAIN ON MAY 30TH 2013 FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW (ELECTRICAL). WE GOT THE CAR BACK ON JUNE 1ST 2013 AND THE WINDOW DID NOT WORK SO AS WE WERE WAITING FOR MONDAY JUNE 3RD TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE SHOP, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. WE ARE WAITING TO HEAR FROM THE DEALERSHIP AS TO WHAT IS WRONG THIS TIME. WE HAVE ONLY HAD PHYSICAL POSSESSION OF THIS VEHICLE FOR 4 1/2 DAYS SINCE THE PURCHASE, IT IS STILL IN THE SHOP BEING FIXED. WIGGLED WIRING UNDER SEAT AND LIGHT TURNED OFF. WILL HAVE DEALER LOOK INTO PROBLEM AT NEXT SCHEDULED SERVICE VISIT. SINCE 2012 DEC 11 I HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES COMPLAINING OF A LOSS OF PERFORMANCE/ ABILITY TO PASS CONFIDENTLY AND EVERY TIME BEEN SENT AWAY FROM THE DEALERSHIP WITH THE SAME PROBLEM NOT BEING FIXED. I HAVE EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF POWER, LOSS OF FUEL ECONOMY (FROM 23MPG CITY TO 15 MPG CITY), ROUGH IDLE/SHUDDER AT IDLE CONSISTENTLY SINCE THE M30 RECALL WAS PERFORMED. CONSISTENTLY I AM BEING LEFT TO PAY FOR THIS POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE WITH NO FIX FROM CHRYSLER'S DEALERSHIP OR CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE DIRECTLY. THE PROBLEMS HAPPEN WITHOUT PRESENTING ANY ERROR CODES THOUGH VISUAL EVIDENCE EXISTS PERTAINING TO THE PROBLEM. I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2012 DODGE CHARGER ON MARCH 23, 2012. SHORTLY AFTER THE PURCHASE I NOTICED THE CAR HAD A HARD SHIFT WHEN I SHIFTED THROUGH THE GEARS (PARK, REVERSE, NEUTRAL, AND DRIVE), AND I COULD HEAR A LOUD POP WHEN I WAS SHIFTING. I THOUGHT THE LOUD POP WAS COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED. THE PROBLEM IS ACTUALLY A BAD AXLE. THEY SAID THE AXLE IS NOT FITTING PROPERLY IN THE VEHICLE. I HAVE NOT HAD THE VEHICLE 6 MONTHS AND I DO NOT EVEN HAVE 2500 MILES ON IT. I BELIEVE THE VEHICLE LEFT THE MANUFACTURING PLANT IN THIS CONDITION. IN THE DEALER, THE REPRESENTATIVE TOLD ME THAT THE COMPUTER SHOWED A CODE B0020-13. THE TECHNICIAN PROCEED TO REALIZE A CIRCUIT TEST BASED ON DIAGNOSTIC TABLE AND THEY FOUND A WIRE FROM THE FRONT DRIVER SEAT AIR BAG THAT NEED TO BE REPAIRED. BASED ON THE TECHNICIAN, ONE OF THE PIN OF THE WIRE WAS OUT OF POSITION. THE TECHNICIAN REPAIRED TO CORRECT THE CODE. AFTER ONE DAY WORKING GOOD WITHOUT THE AIR BAG LIGHT ON, A CHIME SOUND AND APPEARED AGAIN THE AIR BAG SYMBOL. I CHECK IN VARIOUS FORUM RELATED TO THIS CAR AND IN ALL OF THE FORUM THEY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE DEALER DO THE SAME PROCEDURE AND THE RESULT IS THE SAME AFTER REPAIRED THE LIGHT COMING AGAIN.
