DRIVING TO WORK WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE MESSAGE OF "BATTERY SAVER MODE" APPEARED ON MY MESSAGE SCREEN. AFTER THAT HAPPENED, I NOTICED A WHISTLING NOISE FOLLOWED BY THE RADIO GOING OUT AND AIR CONDITIONING STOPPED BLOWING. THEN ALL OF THE SENSORS STARTED GOING OFF IN THE DASHBOARD; TRACTION CONTROL, ABS, CHECK ENGINE, AND SEATBELT. I TRIED TO GIVE MY DODGE CHARGER 2012 SXT SOME GAS SO THAT I CAN GET OFF THE ROAD, BUT THAT CUASED THE RPM'S TO REV UP TO OVER 7 AND OTHER GAUGES DID THE SAME THING AT THE SAME TIME. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO COAST INTO A GAS STATION SINCE THAT IS WHERE MY CHARGER COMPLETELY STOPPED!! NOTHING WOULD TURN ON AND CAR WASN'T MOVING!! AFTER CALLING FOR A TOW TRUCK, I LOOKED UP THESE ERRORS FOR 2012 DODGE CHARGERS AND THERE A LOT OF THEM!! THE ESTIMATE TO REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY WAS OVER $800!!! WHO HAS THAT MONEY JUST LAYING AROUND FOR RAINY DAYS?!?!? DODGE KNOWS IT HAS THIS PROBLEM AS YOU CAN FIND THE RECALLS FOR IT, BIT ONLY IF THE VIN# MATCHES. OTHERWISE YOU PAY OUT OF YOUR OWN POCKET. I AM SO INFURIATED RIGHT NOW!! I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER CHRYSLER VEHICLE AGAIN!! MY 2012 CHARGER ONLY HAS 57,000 MILES AND THE ALTERNATOR GOES!!! THIS IS NOT RIGHT NOR SHOULD IT BE ACCEPTED!!!

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE CHARGER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH, THE FRONT HEADLIGHTS FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
I RECEIVED A RECALL POST CARD IN THE MAIL STATING THE MANUFACTURER HAD ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT ME PREVIOUSLY TO SCHEDULE AN INSPECTION SOON AS POSSIBLE. I CALLED ON 6-16-15 AND SCHEDULED THE APPOINTMENT WITH HOLLEY HOLLEY AS THE SERVICE ADVISOR. THE SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT TOOK PLACE ON 6/18/15. ONCE I RECEIVED MY CAR BACK FROM THE DEALERSHIP. HOLLEY HOLLEY REASURRED ME THAT A MULTIPOINT INSPECTION WAS DONE ON MY CAR AND FLUID LEVELS WERE CHECKED. I LIVE AN HOUR AWAY FROM THE DEALERSHIP. ON MY WAY TO WORK THE FOLLOWING MORNING 6/19/15 WHEN I ARRIVED TO WORK I NOTICED STEAM WAS COMING OUT OF THE SIDE OF MY DRIVERS DOOR ONCE I OPENED IT TO GET OUT. I HAD TO CALL A MECHANIC IMMEDIATELY TO TRY AND GET MY CAR TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP DUE TO HOLLY HOLLEY TELLING ME OVER THE PHONE TO BRING THE CAR BACK IN ONCE I TOLD HER I DIDNT HAVE THIS ISSUE PRIOR TO BRINGING MY CAR IN FOR THE INSPECTION. ONCE THE TOWING COMPANY ARRIVED THE DRIVER POPPED MY HOOD. THE DRIVER ASKED ME TO COME LOOK UNDER MY HOOD. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO SHOW ME THAT THE RADIATOR CAP WAS NEVER PUT BACK ON MY RADIATOR WHEN I HAD TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE INSPECTION ON 6/18/15. WHOMEVER TECH:999176 IS THAT WORKED ON MY CAR IS. I WOULD LIKE THE TEC:999176 TO KNOW THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND MY MOTOR COULDVE BLOWN UP DUE TO HIS CARELESS MISTAKES OF NOT DOING HIS JOB. IT TOOK THREE HOURS TO COOL MY CAR DOWN. I HATE DOING ANY KIND OF BUSINESS WITH ROUNDTREE CHRYSLER AND I HATE I EVER PURCHASED MY CAR FROM THIS DEALERSHIP. IVE HAD SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH ROUNDTREE AND THE CAR ITSELF. IF I COULD GET A BRAND NEW DODGE CHARGER IT WOULD DEFINITELY SUFFICE EVERYTHING IVE EXPERIENCED WITH THIS DEALERSHIP. I WILL NOT TAKE MY CAR BACK TO THIS DEALERSHIP FOR ANY SERVICES OTHER THAN RECALLS THAT ARE PRE-PAID FOR. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE IT MEANT THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM COULD NOT BE TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE UNKNOWN.
LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS TURN OFF WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING ON CITY ROADS OR HIGHWAY. USUAL ONE OR THE OTHER, BUT SOMETIMES BOTH AT THE SAME TIME CAUSING AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THIS ISSUE STARTED IN JUNE OF 2015 AND HAPPENS NOW EVERY TIME THIS VEHICLE IS DRIVEN. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR DODGE CHARGERS. THERE SEEMS TO BE AN EARLIER SAFETY RECALL TO FIX THIS SAFETY ISSUE.

VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY EMITS A CHEMICAL ODOR FROM THE A/C VENTS. AT TIMES IT IS ALMOST INTOXICATING CAUSING HEADACHES AND SORE THROAT. AT TIMES IT IS A LIGHT ODOR OTHERS VERY STRONG TO THE POINT WINDOWS HAVE TO BE ROLLED DOWN......UPDATED 10/20/15 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE WATER PUMP WAS SLOWLY LEAKING AND THE ODOR WAS BURNING ANTI-FREEZE ON THE ENGINE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE CHARGER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH, THE SENSOR LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUDDENLY ILLUMINATED BEFORE THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V634000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,375.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V6340000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) WAS RECEIVED IN JUNE OF 2015. AFTER CONTACTING THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WERE NOT AVAILABLE AND NO ESTIMATED TIME FOR RECEIVING THE PARTS COULD BE GIVEN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
RECALL 12V-042 WAS COMPLETED AND THEY DID NOT FIND A PROBLEM. SHORTLY AFTER THE RECALL WAS COMPLETED WE HAVE HAD CONTINUED FAILURE OF THE PASSENGER LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT AND FOUND THE CONNECTOR HAS BEEN OVERHEATED.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2012 DODGE CHARGER SXT (BLACKTOP EDITION) APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH ON A HIGHWAY WHEN SUDDENLY THE CAR'S ELECTRONIC SYSTEM STARTING GOING HAYWIRE. THE ABS LIGHT WHEN ON, THEN THE RED BRAKE LIGHT, THEN THE ENGINE LIGHT AND SO FORTH. THE ELECTRONICS STARTED FLICKERING ON AND OFF. I HEADED FOR THE NEAREST EXIT AND JUST I WAS EXITING THE CAR'S STEERING ABILITY LOCKED UP AND COAXED IT TO THE MIDDLE MERIDIAN OF THE ROAD WHEN IT THEN SUDDENLY LOST POWER, NARROWLY AVOIDING AN ACCIDENT IN A BUSY NY INTERSECTION. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN ON AND I CALLED AAA. THEY TRIED TO GIVE THE CAR A BOOST BUT IT ONLY POWERED THE ELECTRIC SYSTEM AND IT WOULD NOT START. ONCE THEY TOOK OFF THE CABLES IT HAD NO POWER. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED AND IS AWAITING REPAIRS.THE CAR HAS NEVER HAD ANY PREVIOUS ISSUES AND I HAVE MAINTAINED ALL REGULARLY SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE WORK WITH THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE.
WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, IN MY 2012 DODGE CHARGER RT. THE DASH LIGHTS ALL STARTED TO FLASH AND A MESSAGE CODE "BATTERY SAVE MODE" WAS GIVEN. JUST A FEW MINUTES LATER THE CAR STALLED OUT AND THE FRONT WHEELS VIBRATED FEELING LIKE THE WHEELS LOCKED UP. THE CAR VEERED OFF THE THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD. I PLACED THE CAR IN PARK AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE CAR WHICH IT STARTED. ALL THE DASH WARNING LIGHTS REMAINED ILLUMINATED. I PLACED THE CAR IN DRIVE AND SLOWLY PULLED BACK ONTO THE ROAD. THE CAR DROVE NORMAL THE NEXT 1/2 MILE TO MY HOUSE, EXCEPT FOR THE WARNING LIGHTS AND BATTERY SAVE MODE MESSAGE. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY FOUND THE ALTERNATOR AT FAULT.
CONNECTOR AT PASSENGER LOW BEAM HEADLAMP OVERHEATED AND MELTED. REPLACED CONNECTOR. VEHICLE HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY INSPECTED UNDER RECALL 12V-042 AND THEY DID NOT FIND A PROBLEM.
NO POWER TO RADIO OR AIR CONDITIONER. POSSIBLY OTHER ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS DID NOT WORK. THIS HAPPENED SUDDENLY. TOOK CAR TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE. THEY WERE ABLE TO 'RESET' IT, BUT TOLD ME IF IT FAILS AGAIN, IT WOULD COST $1400. I GOT OFF CHEAP WITH THIS REPAIR ONLY COSTING $98. THIS IS FOR A PART YOUR 6 YEAR OLD COULD HOLD IN HIS HAND. FORTUNATELY POWER STEERING DID NOT FAIL, WHICH IS POSSIBLE. THIS EVIDENTLY IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH DODGE PRODUCTS. NO REASON THIS SHOULD FAIL WITH JUST 2000 MILES ON CAR.
WAS DRIVING DOWN ROAD WHEN CAR STARTED MAKING A CHIMING SOUND AND THE AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON. THE LIGHT HAS WENT OFF A TIME OR TWO BUT PRIMARILY STAYS ON ALL THE TIME.
APPARENTLY IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH DODGE CHARGERS AND OTHER VEHICLES WITH THE SAME ENGINE BUT THE 3.5L WILL DEVELOP A "TICKING" NOISE THAT IS CAUSED BY A ROCKER DOWEL PIN SHEARING OFF. A SIMPLE SEARCH ONLINE WILL SHOW NUMEROUS OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. FROM THE SHIFTING OF THE SHEARED PIN, THE OILING HOLES BECOME MISALIGNED AND THE ROCKERS STARVE FROM OIL A BIT. IT HAS BEEN DOING THIS FOR AT LEAST A YEAR AND ONLY AFTER IT STARTED GETTING LOUDER DID I REALLY START RESEARCHING THE POTENTIAL PROBLEM. THERE IS NO POINT THAT THE ENGINE DOES NOT MAKE THE NOISE. WHEN IT IS RUNNING, IT HAS A TICK NOISE AND I'M AFRAID ITS GOING TO WEAR OUT THE INSIDE OF THE ENGINE OR CAUSE FURTHER DAMAGE.
I HAVE BEEN DRIVING MY CAR ON NEARLY A DAILY BASIS SINCE I ACQUIRED IT IN OCTOBER 2013. OVER THE COURSE OF THE PAST 27K MILES, I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE MY WHEELS ("RIMS") ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS DURING THE SPRING MONTHS AS A RESULT OF HAIRLINE FRACTURES/CRACKS OCCURRING ON THE INNER WALL OF THE WHEEL. THE LOCATION OF THE CRACK TO BE MORE PRECISE IS WHERE THE BEAD OF THE TIRE WOULD BE SEATED DURING MOUNTING. IN EACH INSTANCE, THE WHEEL IN QUESTION WAS MOUNTED ON THE FRONT OF THE CAR (ONE DRIVER SIDE AND TWO PASSENGER SIDE) AND DID NOT SHOW ANY SIGN OF DEFORMATION OR BENDING. DODGE HAS BEEN MADE AWARE OF THE CRACKS AND HAS CONSISTENTLY DENIED CLAIMS STATING THAT THEY WERE NOT A RESULT OF WORKMANSHIP OR FROM POOR DESIGN. GIVEN THE STIFFNESS OF THE SUSPENSION AND WEIGHT OF THE MOTOR OVER THE FRONT WHEELS AS WELL AS THE CONSISTENCY OF THE FRACTURE (FRONT OF CAR AND INSIDE OF WHEEL), I DO NOT AGREE WITH THEIR CLAIMS. I HAVE DONE A BRIEF SEARCH OF THE INTERNET AND HAVE FOUND AN ABUNDANCE OF BLOGS AND SIMILAR DISCUSSION BOARDS WHERE OWNERS OF SRT8 CHARGERS OF MY MODEL YEAR HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. WHILE MY INSTANCES HAVE BEEN SLOW LEAKS FROM CRACKS, OTHER DRIVERS MAY EXPERIENCE BLOWOUTS FROM SUDDEN EXPANSION OF THE CRACK CAUSING STRUCTURAL FAILURE. *TR

NIGHT TIME @ 8:30PM, I WAS TRAVELING 20W/59S TOWARDS THE FOSTER EXIT. BEFORE I CAME UPON THE BLACK WARRIOR RIVER BRIDGE, I HIT AN UNEXPECTED POTHOLE IN THE LEFT LANE AND IT BEND AND CRACKED THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE RIM AND THREW OFF THE FRONT ALIGNMENT OF MY VEHICLE. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BATTERY SAVE MODE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE ALSO STARTED TO MAKE A LOUD SQUEALING NOISE AFTER THE REPAIR WAS PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,551.

IN NOVEMBER OF 2014 I RECEIVED A LETTER INDICATING THAT MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN RECALLED DUE TO ISSUES WITH THE ALTERNATOR. THE RECALL STATED THAT THE ABS, ESC,EMC, AND CBC SYSTEMS COULD/WOULD EXPERIENCE ISSUES DUE TO THE FAILING ALTERNATOR. RECENTLY, MY VEHICLE'S INDICATOR LIGHTS APPEARED SHOWING THAT I WAS EXPERIENCING FAILURES TO A FEW OF THOSE SYSTEMS. THE DEALERSHIP WAS CLOSED AT THE TIME, SO I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE DODGE 24 HOUR HOTLINE TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE STATUS OF THE RECALLED PARTS. ON THAT DAY, I WAS TOLD THAT ONLY A TEMPORARY FIX COULD BE OFFERED BECAUSE THE PARTS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR MONTHS. A FEW DAYS LATER, I WAS ISSUED A LETTER STATING THAT THE DEALERSHIP WILL BE ABLE TO FIX MY RECALLED ALTERNATOR. I SET UP AN APPOINTMENT IMMEDIATELY AND CALLED DODGE HEADQUARTERS TO VERIFY THAT THIS IS A PERMANENT FIX. AT THAT TIME I WAS AGAIN TOLD THAT THE FIX IS ONLY TEMPORARY. WHEN I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP I WAS TOLD THAT I WAS RECEIVING A PERMANENT FIX. OVERALL, I AM UNSURE IF MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN TEMPORARILY FIXED OR IF I'VE RECEIVED A PERMANENT FIX. IN ADDITION, THE DEALERSHIP TAKES NO RESPONSIBILITY IN ASSISTING TO FIX THE SYSTEMS THAT FAILED AS A RESULT OF THE RECALLED ALTERNATOR. I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $75 JUST FOR THEM TO INSPECT THE REST OF THE VEHICLE AND THEN PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THE SYSTEMS THAT WERE AFFECTED BY THE RECALL. I FIND THAT TO BE ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. THERE IS A DIRECT LINK AND THE DEALERSHIP/DODGE SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY ISSUES WITH THE ABS, ESC, EMC, AND/OR CBC SYSTEMS. I AM DISHEARTENED BY THIS HORRIBLE INTERACTION WITH DODGE AND THE COMPANY'S DEFIANCE IN FIXING ALL ISSUES THAT ARE DIRECTLY LINKED TO THEIR MISTAKE. ALL IN ALL, I HAVE NO CLUE IF MY CAR HAS BEEN PROPERLY FIXED BECAUSE I'VE GOTTEN AN INFLUX OF DIFFERENT INFORMATION AND I AM BEING HELD RESPONSIBLE TO PAY FOR DODGE'S MISTAKE. *TR

A CHECK OF THE FUSE BOX PANEL UNDERNEATH THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE REVEALED THAT THE FUSE THAT DIRECTLY CONTROLS OR IS ASSOCIATED WITH THE PERFORMANCE/OPERATION OF THE A/C AND DEFROSTER WAS MELTED RESULTING IN A HOLE BEING BURNT THROUGH THE BOTTOM OF THE BOX. THE FUSE WAS THE ORIGINAL FUSE FOR THE VEHICLE. IT APPEARS THAT THE ENTIRE FUSE BOX NEEDS REPLACING AS A RESULT OF THE DAMAGE CAUSED BY THE BURNED FUSE. ADDITIONALLY, THE HEAD LIGHTS OF THE VEHICLE LOOK AS IF THEY ARE SHATTERED INTERNALLY. IT APPEARS THAT THE BULBS, WHICH ARE ALSO ORIGINAL/FACTORY GET TOO HOT AND CAUSE THE PLASTIC FIXTURES TO APPEAR CRACKED OR SHATTERED. *TR

DRIVING 55 MPH ON HIGHWAY IN MY 2012 DODGE CHARGER,I BEGAN TO SMELL OIL BURNING, LOOKED DOWN AND NOTICED THAT THE CAR WAS RUNNING AT THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURE, 264 DEGREES.
