This page combines three types of NHTSA data: recall campaigns (official manufacturer or government actions), owner complaints (unverified consumer reports), and crash test ratings (where available). A vehicle with many complaints is not necessarily less reliable — complaint volume correlates with sales volume and vehicle age. Recalls indicate identified defects, not overall quality. To compare this model year with others, use the year navigation in the sidebar or return to the model overview page.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2013-2016 Dodge Dart vehicles. The shifter cable may detach from the transmission, preventing the vehicle from shifting into the park (P) position and causing a loss of park function.
Remedy Status
Vehicles that were previously repaired under recall 19V293 will need to have the new remedy completed. The remedy is currently under development. Interim notification letters, explaining the safety risk, were mailed November 6, 2025. A second notice will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is A0C. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning October 16, 2025.
My car was stuck in drive. It would not shift into park. My father had to use the emergency switch under the hood to put it in park. A local dealership was contacted and parts have been ordered to fix the problem. The car has not been inspected. There were no warnings. I did not receive a recall notice in the mail.
Transmission is failing recall part is unavailable. I was driving my car and it just stopped. It wouldn’t go forward. It wouldn’t go backwards and it said on my information screen to have my transmission serviced..
When I got in my car to leave work, the shifter cable had broken. It would not shift to reverse, neutral, or drive. I was left stranded in the middle of the night with no one to pick me up. Also, if it had broken while I was driving I wouldn’t have been able to put it in park and it would have potentially rolled into another car or person. At this time it has been 6 months since the recall and Dodge has no remedy for it. The dealership looked at it and did confirm that the shifter cable had broken.
I took the vehicle in for recall last year and it would not work within 5 months and I saw a transmission warning something about tcm or tsm. I called the dealership and the mfg and both would not pay for the tow and the car sat in my parking lot over the winter. About 4 weeks ago , I jumped the car battery and placed it into drive and within maybe 5 feet it stopped in the middle of the parking lot and i saw a warning that said something like no gear found or detected. I turned off the car and turned it back on and safely put it into reverse and quickly back into the parking spot otherwise it would have been stuck in the middle of the parking lot . I restarted the car and saw the same no gear found or detected warning message on my dash and when i put the car in drive the car would not move into any gear . The car is completely inoperable and EXTREMELY UNSAFE and this is due to the SECOND recall that has NO CURRENT FIX. When i contacted the mfg about the two recalls last year, they said that the second recall has no fix and nothing they could do. i can not afford a tow and owe payments. I am reporting an unresolved safety recall (NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V-674, Manufacturer Recall Number: A0C) for my [year/make/model]. The recall was issued on October 9, 2025, and remains listed as “remedy not yet available.” My vehicle is now inoperable due to the defect identified in this recall, resulting in a complete loss of use. Despite the severity of this safety issue, the manufacturer has not provided a repair, interim solution, transportation assistance, or a timeline for when a remedy will be available. This represents an unreasonable delay in addressing a known safety defect, and I am being forced to go without a functioning vehicle because of it. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this matter and require the manufacturer to provide an immediate remedy or appropriate consumer relief. PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS SEVERE ISSUE . I AND MY FAMILY ARE NOT SAFE IN THIS CAR

The traction control light comes on then the transmission control module then comes on and my car goes into limp mode, when im sitting at a red light even with the break other car will lunge at a stop
My car transmission is shot, I'm requesting a recall, my car was recalled for transmission problems immediately after on market. I don't know what was all fixed , but sure wasn't fixed. When in gear the car would sometimes loose power and then rev up and the car would jerk. I replaced everything possible, I had bought a warranty extension and was continusing getting one part after another fixed, I called to report a claim after just getting a recall for the shift cable recall repair done to have my car diagnosis done again, and my warranty was up, the car has so many new parts and I love my car, I can't drive it, needs transmission rebuilt, I kept telling the warranty insurance and they ignored it. Now I can't drive it, I'm not pleased at all, I had to continue to make payments on my car for a year and couldn't drive i The transmission should have been replaced, they are responsible for my transmission. Wouldn't go in gear, would shoot off and switch gears, rev up why driving, then would have to have towed, fixed everything but the transmission which I reported non-stop, they did nothing about it, then told me, there's nothing we can do your warranty expired today. So I am requesting a recall, the transmission was recalled right after Market I don't think they fixed it right to begin with, it's a shame to have a vehicle that just sits in the garage and collects dust. The manufacturer and warranty insurance are responsible for repairing my transmission so I can drive the car , I paid for!

Vehicle comes out of park without depressing the big brake pedal, it also comes out of gear when driving and almost cost an accident.

My 2013 Dodge Dart is subject to a shifter cable safety recall. The vehicle has been at an authorized Dodge dealership in Texas since November awaiting recall repair. The dealership has confirmed the vehicle is unsafe to drive, but the repair has been delayed for several months. No reliable transportation assistance has been provided during this extended delay. This safety recall has left me without a usable vehicle for an unreasonable amount of time.
The transmission shift cable detached from the transmission, causing the gear shifter to move freely without actually changing gears. When this happened, the vehicle could not be shifted into Park or Drive and became unsafe to operate. This created a serious safety risk because the car could roll or move unexpectedly even when the shifter was in Park. The vehicle is affected by Recall A0C / NHTSA 25V-674 for this exact issue. The failure has not yet been repaired because local dealers have been unresponsive. The problem can be reproduced by simply moving the shifter, as the cable will disconnect again. No warning lights appeared before the failure. The issue was visually confirmed by observing the detached cable under the hood.
On October 16, 2025, while I was working and driving my vehicle, I experienced a sudden failure after stopping to complete a delivery. When I returned to my car and attempted to shift into drive, the vehicle would not shift gears. I was fortunate this occurred while I was pulled over on the side of the road. The problem was determined to be a failure of the shift cable connecting the shifter to the transmission. Because of this failure, the vehicle could not be safely driven. I was required to have the vehicle towed home. Since that date, the vehicle has been unusable. It has now been more than two and a half months without a repair. I contacted the Dodge dealership where I purchased the vehicle in 2012. The dealership confirmed this issue is covered under an active safety recall. However, they stated they cannot perform the repair because the required recall part is not available and no repair remedy has been provided by Mopar. I have contacted Mopar customer support multiple times requesting an estimated repair timeline or an alternative solution. I have been repeatedly told to wait, with no estimated date for parts availability, no temporary fix, and no assistance offered. I have not taken the vehicle to the dealership because it cannot be safely driven without manually forcing it into gear, which poses a safety risk, and towing it would create additional expense when the issue has already been confirmed as recall-related. As a result of this unresolved recall, I have suffered financial loss. I rely on this vehicle for work, and being without it for over two and a half months has caused lost income. I am requesting NHTSA review this matter due to the unreasonable delay in providing a safety recall remedy and the continued lack of assistance.

The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
The transmission and powertrain were inspected due to concerns about the car possibly jolting in a different direction and causing an accident. The issue has been confirmed by the dealer, and the vehicle has been inspected by both the dealer and a mechanic. The car does indeed jolt unexpectedly.
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Dart. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 30 MPH, and as he was driving over speed bumps, several warnings illuminated, and the vehicle became difficult to steer left or right. The contact stated that the vehicle crashed into a barrier post on the roadway on the driver's side front. The contact was able to stop the vehicle and observed that the damage was minimal, a small dent on the corner of the front bumper on the driver's side. The contact stated that he drove the vehicle back to his residence. The contact stated that when he shifted to park (P) the vehicle continued to move forward. The contact applied the brake and stopped. When he shifted to reverse (R) again, the vehicle was not responding to the gear shift lever. The contact stated that multiple warnings had illuminated on the instrument cluster, "service transmission" and numerous other unknown warnings. The contact stated that the PRNDL was flashing on the shifter console. The contact stated the engine stalled, and he was unable to restart the vehicle. The contact had received a recall letter from the manufacturer and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V674000 (Power Train). The contact had called a local dealer who advised that the remedy was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
Shifter cable was replaced for recall in February of 2025 and it’s messed up again..
I was at a intersection when the incident occurred. I was unable to shift it into gear. I was able to roll it into the gas station at the intersection. Bushing on tension rod disintegrated. Causing the transmission to be stuck in neutral.
