EVERYONE SAYS THAT DODGE DEALERS CLAIM THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD THIS BEFORE. [XXX]. DODGE IS TRYING NOT TO HAVE TO DO A RECALL. THAT IS OBVIOUS. SHAME ON DODGE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A POST CARD IN THE MAIL FOR AN UNKNOWN RECALL. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO GRAVA CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM SRT (29 MYSTIC AVE, MEDFORD, MA 02155, (781) 391-8950) TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. PRIOR TO THE RECALL REPAIR BEING PERFORMED, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND REMAINED LIT AFTER THE REMEDY WAS PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 146,000.
2004 DODGE DURANGO. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ENGINE FAILURE. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE DUE TO THE VEHICLE BEING OUT OF WARRANTY. *JS
I PURCHASED MY '04 DURANGO IN 2014 WITH 70,000 MILES ON IT AND JUST PAID IT OFF LAST MONTH. I HAVEN'T EVEN RECEIVED THE TITLE YET BUT YET I HAVE A TRUCK THAT DOESN'T RUN ANYMORE. ABOUT A WEEK OR SO AGO I WENT OUT TO START MY TRUCK AND THE ENGINE BEGAN TO KNOCK VERY LOUDLY. WE HAD A SMALL RAIN/SNOW EVENT THE NIGHT BEFORE AND THE TRUCK HAD BEEN SITTING OUTSIDE IN THE ELEMENTS. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED OFF THE TRUCK AND WENT BACK INSIDE TO MAKE SOME CALLS AND GET ON THE INTERNET. I FOUND OUT THAT THERE HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THIS TRUCK CONCERNING WATER LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE CAUSING IT TO HYDROLOCK THE ENGINE CAUSING CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE/ ENGINE REPLACEMENT. PRIOR TO THIS, I HAD ISSUES WITH THE TRUCK CONCERNING IDLING AND/OR STALLING DURING THE RAIN OR WHEN GOING THROUGH A CAR WASH. I READ SO MANY COMMENTS FROM FELLOW VEHICLE OWNERS THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE AND HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. THERE IS NO OTHER FIX. THE ESTIMATED FIX FOR THIS IS A NEW/USED ENGINE COSTING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS (I WAS QUOTED 7000, I ONLY PAID 10,000 FOR THE TRUCK WHEN I BOUGHT IT). I HAD A MECHANIC COME LOOK AT IT AND HE SAID THE TRUCK DROPPED A VALVE, IT WAS CYLINDER #3. MY ENGINE HAS JUST OVER 113,000 MILES ON IT. THERE IS NO REASON I SHOULD HAVE TO REPLACE AN ENGINE AT THIS MILEAGE. NONE WHATSOEVER. DELVING INTO THE ISSUE IT SEEMS AS IF THERE IS A REPLACEMENT PART (COWL FITTING) THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED THAT DODGE/CHRYSLER NEVER ISSUED A RECALL FOR ALTHOUGH THEY KNEW THERE WAS AN ISSUE AND IT WAS CAUSING ITS ENGINES TO BLOW RODS AND SUFFER IRREPARABLE DAMAGE. IF I HAD KNOWN THAT THIS I WOULD NEVER EVER HAVE BOUGHT IT ESPECIALLY FROM A COMPANY THAT DOESN'T CORRECT THEIR MISTAKES EVEN WHEN THEY KNOW ABOUT THEM. I HAVE NEVER OWNED A DODGE BEFORE AND I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER AGAIN OR RECOMMEND THEM TO OTHERS. THEY SHOULD STAND BY THEIR PRODUCT
THE TRANSFER CASE WILL MAKE NOISE WHEN UNLOCKING THE DOORS, IT WILL ALSO ENGAGE AND CHANGE THE AWD BY ITSELF TO 4LOCK WHEN DRIVING ON THE ROAD. IT CAN CAUSE SERIOUSE HARD OR ACCIDENT. THE AIRBAGS ON BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE LIGHT WILL ENGAGE AND CAN CAUSE SERIOUSE HARM. THE FUEL PUMP SEEMS LIKE IT HAS AN AIR BUBBLE INSIDE AND SHOOTS OUT GASOLINE AND ALSO CAN CAUSE SERIOUSE HARM. ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND STATIONARY. PLEASE FIX!!! RECALL!!! YOU HAVE TO HEAR THE NOISE AND DRIVE WHEN IT HAPPENS.
TAKATA RECALL. I HAD THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGS REPAIRED ON 3/2/18 AT GLENN THOMAS IN SIGNAL HILL, CA. ON THIS DAY AFTER I WAS INFORMED THE JOB FOR THE AIR BAG REPAIR WAS COMPLETED. I SIGNED THE PAPERS ,AND I DROVE OFF THE LOT. I IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THAT THE AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT WAS ON THE MY DASH. I WAS ONLY 10 MINUTES AWAY, SO I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE SERVICE ADVISOR AND LEFT A VOICE MESSAGE. BUT I WENT AHEAD AND DROVE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP SO THEY COULD SEE THAT THE LIGHT WAS ON. I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK IN AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR PUT THE DIAGNOSTICS TOOL ON THE CAR AND IT GAVE HIM A PRINTOUT OF POSSIBLE ISSUES. HE THEN HAD A TECHNICIAN LOOK AT THE CAR. I WAITED IN THE CUSTOMER WAITING ROOM. WITHIN 30 MINUTES, THE ADVISOR CAME INTO THE WAITING AREA AND TOLD ME IT WAS THE SEAT TRACKING SENSOR ? (I MAY HAVE THE CORRECT WORDING INCORECCT) . I WAS THEN QUOTED A REPAIR PRICE OF $270 FOR ONE SEAT (DRIVER'S SIDE). I WAS TOLD THEY ONLY HAVE 1 PART IN STOCK AT THE TIME AND THAT IT WOULD BE 3 HOURS TO REPAIR. I DID NOT HAVE THE TIME TO WAIT FOR THIS REPAIR NOR DID I HAVE THE $270 FOR THE REPAIR. I THEN ASKED CAN THE CAR BE DRIVEN WITH THE AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT ON, AND I WAS TOLD YES, BUT THE AIRBAGS MAY NOT WORK PROPERLY IF INVOLVED IN A ACCIDENT (CRASH). MY QUESTION... IS IF THIS SEAT TRACKING SENSOR IS IMPORTANT TO THE FUNCTIONALITY OF THE AIR BAGS WHY IS THIS NOT COVERED UNDER THE TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL. AND WHY IS IT NOT FREE TO THE CUSTOMER. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIR IF THERE IS A OPEN ACTIVE RECALL AND THIS REPAIR FOR THE SEAT TRACKING IS DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE AIRBAGS. I WOULD APPRECIATE IT IF THIS CAN BE LOOKED INTO FURTHER. TAKARA RECALL I PUT OIL ON THE ENGINE CONSTANTLY AS I DONT KNOW WHERES IS GOING THROUGH. NO SMOKE OR LEAK.
The contact owns a 2004 Dodge Durango. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle jerked and automatically engaged into four-wheel drive. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transfer case needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2004 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE WARMING UP THE UNOCCUPIED VEHICLE FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 TO 15 MINUTES, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT AUCTION. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 07V092000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AS A POSSIBLE CAUSE OF THE FIRE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000. FIRE MARSHALL DETERMINED THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE WAS WIRING. *TT
I HAVE READ DODGE IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE, AND NO ONE HAS DONE ANYTHING TO PROTECT THE CONSUMER. THE GAS TANK DOES NOT FILL AND SPITS FUEL OUT WHEN ABOUT 2/3 FULL. ALSO THE TANK IS COLLAPSING DO TO THE PRESSURE THAT BUILDS UP. THIS IS A BIG SAFETY CONCERN THAT NEEDS SOME KIND OF ACTION TAKEN. PEOPLE NEED TO STOP TURNING THEIR HEADS AWAY FROM THESE PROBLEMS. I HAVE TAKEN THIS TO A MECHANIC WHO HAS STATED THIS IS A REAL CONCERN. WE RESEARCHED THIS TO FIND OUT NO ONE IS OWNING UP TO A POOR DESIGN. AND A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. NOT SURE WHY, JUST HAVE NO WORDS. DODGE NEEDS TO STEP UP AND TAKE CARE OF THIS. I AM CURRENTLY LOOKING INTO HOW TO FILE A CLASS ACTION SUIT. SINCE EVERYONE DENIES THERE IS A PROBLEM. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 DODGE DURANGO. WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SET FOR 68 MPH, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY AN ADDITIONAL 20 MPH WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE CAUSED HER TO BE PULLED OVER BY THE POLICE. IN ADDITION, WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL CLUNK SOUND. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 299,000.

THE CONSUMER STATED BATTERY DISCHARGED IN A VERY SHORT PERIOD OF TIME AFTER THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS MOVED TO THE OF POSITION. THE CONSUMER STATED IT WAS OVER 2 YEARS AND THE RECALL REPAIRS STILL HAD NOT BEEN COMPLETED. *JS
CALLED DEALER ON 10 OR 12 TIMES IN ZIP CODE 30067 OVER PASS 2 YEARS TO TAKE CARE OF RECALL NEVER HAD PARTS, ALWAYS ASKED ME TO CALL BACK ASK ME TO PAY FOR AIRBAG RECALL THEN APPLY FOR SOMEONE TO SENT ME MONEY BACK. ALL THE WRITTEN DOCS I HAVE RECEIVED FROM TK HOLDINGS INC IT CLEARLY STATES FREE REPAIR REPLAEMENT OF AIRBAG
HAS HAD PROBLEMS WITH ENGINE ON DURANGO 4.7L OVERHEATING, I DRIVE 15 MINUTES TO WORK WHEN ITS WARM OUTSIDE AND ITS ALREADY OVERHEATING, IVE CHECKED VARIOUS FORUMS ONLINE EACH ONE HAD NUMEROUS PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE, WITH ALL THE PEOPLE COMPLAINING I FIGURED DODGE WOULD FIND A SOLUTION, OR FIGURED SOMEONE WOULD FILE A CLASS ACTION SUIT, BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE.
CAR HAS A NEW ENGINE AND THIRD WATER PUMP. IT FAILED AFTER 5000 MILES AND ENGULFED IN FLAMES CAUSING THE FAILURE OF THE BELT, TENSIONER, MAIN DRIVE PULLEY AND AC COMPRESSOR. TODAY DODGE JUST RECALLED THESE PUMPS FOR THE VERY SAME REASON BEARING FAILURE AND SUPER HOT CONDITIONS CAUSING FIRES AND FAILURE. I WAS JUST REDRIVING ALONG THE TRUCK HAS BEEN RUNNING WELL AND SHOWED NO SIGNS OF ISSUES, NO NOISE, SMELL, LIGHTS OR STRUGGLE. CAR WAS AT NORMAL OPPERATING TEMPURTURE AND DAYTIME TRAFFIC. STOPPED FOR GAS STAYED FOR A COUPLE MINUTES THEN DRIVE ON, WITHIN TWO MILES WITHOUT ANY WARNING OR NOISE THE CAR STARTED SMOKING PULLED OVER AND SMELLED A RUBBER NOTICES NO LEAKS IN THE WATER DELIVERY SYSTEM OIL, TRANS, OR POWER STEERING, THE BELT WAS RED HOT AND SMELLED LIKE A HOUSE FIRE CAR WAS TAKEN 200 YARDS TO PEP BOYS AND REPAIRED AT THE COST OF $1300. SHOULD NOT HAPPEN WITH 5000 MILES ON THE WATER PUMP AND 20,0000 ON A NEW ENGINE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE AT A STOP, THE BRAKES FAILED TO WORK, THE ENGINE REVVED, AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 152,845.
INTERIOR LIGHTS STOP WORKING WHEN THE DOORS OR HATCH ARE OPENED YOU CAN MANUALLY TURN INTERIOR LIGHTS BY TOUCH OF BUTTONS . THEY WILL NOT COME ON BY DASH SWITCH EITHER . PARKED IN A GARAGE ALL THE TIME
THE WINDSHIELD WIPER COWLING ALLOWS WATER TO FLOW RIGHT OVER THE ENTIRE ENGINE AND RIGHT INTO THE INTAKE. MY DODGE WAS SITTING FOR 2 WEEKS DURING HEAVY RAINS AND WHEN I TRIED CRANKING IT UP FOR THE FIRST TIME, THE ENGINE HYDROLOCKED.
DURANGO SLT 5.7L V8 HEMI ENGINE HYDRO LOCKED AND THREW A ROD WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. THE HYDRO LOCK ISSUE IS WIDELY REPORTED WITH THE 2004 FIRST GENERATION OF THE HEMI ENGINE. HOWEVER, DODGE DOES NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THIS MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND SAFETY ISSUE.
04 DURANGO SLT 4.7 V8. RATTLING/RAPPING NOISE ON START UP THAT WORSENED THROUGH THE DAY. NOISE COMING FROM RIGHT SIDE OF ENGINE BAY. BROUGHT TO MECHANIC AND IDENTIFIED VALVE SEAT(S) IN THE ALUMINUM HEAD(S) HAVE 'DISINTEGRATED' AND/OR 'DROPPED' CAUSING THE VALVES TO SLAP ON ACCELERATION AND MULTIPLE OTHER CATASTROPHIC ENGINE ISSUES. FCA (CHRYSLER/DODGE) HAS BEEN NOTIFIED OF MY COMPLAINT AND THEY'RE FULLY AWARE OF THIS FATAL ENGINE FLAW IN THEIR LATE MODEL V8 ENGINES YET THEY REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE OR EVEN ADVISE OWNERS OF REPAIR OPTIONS. 1. RECALL FAILED TO REPAIR AIR BAG FAILURE. CURRENTLY - AIRBAGS ARE NOT FUNCTIONAL (DASH WARNING LIGHT). 2. AT APPROXIMATELY 72,000 MILES - VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHOW SIGNS OF RUST THROUGH AT BOTH REAR QUARTER PANELS AND BOTH ROCKER PANELS. BY 85000 MILES - COMPLETE BODY RUST THROUGH FAILURE WAS IRREPARABLE - VEHICLE WAS MAINTAINED EXCEPTIONALLY CLEAN. 3. AT 100000 MILES - NOTED BY WAY OF MECHANIC THAT THE ENGINE WAS 'SLUDGED UP' TO THE POINT THAT THE VALVE TRAIN WAS STARVED OF LUBRICATION AND SUBSEQUENTLY - THE ENGINE HAS ENCOUNTERED WHAT APPEARS TO BE A TOTAL CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. VALVES, LASH ADJUSTER, PISTON ROD OR BEARINGS MAY ALL BE DESTROYED DIRECTLY DUE TO POOR DESIGN AND LOW QUALITY COMPONENTS FROM FCA. THERE ARE HUNDREDS (THOUSANDS) OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ACROSS MULTIPLE MEDIA REGARDING THIS 'FAMILIAR' DODGE ENGINE BREAKDOWN. FCA - OF COURSE - DENIES CULPABILITY CITING POOR USER MAINTENANCE. I HAVE RECORDS OF ALL OIL CHANGES FOR THE SUBJECT VEHICLE AT 3000 MILE INTERVALS CONSISTENTLY FROM THE DATE OF PURCHASE (5/2004), I SAY - 'FCA? TIME TO OWN UP TO THIS PROBLEM AND DO THE RIGHT THING.
OVER HEATED SURPATIN BELT BROKE ..THEN THE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR WHENT OUT .AN THE PULL CHAIN

THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES AND BRUISES TO THE BACK, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND VIN WERE UNKNOWN.
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 DODGE DURANGO. DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER, WATER INTRUSION OCCURRED NEAR THE FRONT OF THE WINDSHIELD ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THE CONTACT OWNED THE VEHICLE FOR LESS THAN 30 DAYS. ALSO, WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN THROUGH AN AUTOMATIC CAR WASH IN NEUTRAL, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART AND ONLY RESTARTED AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE MADE AN ABNORMAL NOISE. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V352000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED NO SOLUTION OTHER THAN ADVISING THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 129,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
THE WINDSHIELD WIPER COWL BECAME DEFECTIVE AND LET WATER INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, SPECIFICALLY THE FUEL INTAKE MANIFOLD. AFTER ABOUT 5 YEARS OF RANDOM WATER RELATED STALLS (RAIN,DEW,CAR WASHES) WHICH COULD NEVER BE REPLICATED BY NUMEROUS MECHANICS AND THEREFORE NOT PROPERLY DIAGNOSED, WATER EVENTUALLY FOUND ITS WAY INTO A PISTON CHAMBER. WHILE ON THE FREEWAY IN SAN FRANCISCO ON MARCH 31,2017, HYDROLOCK ENSUED AND CAUSED THE NUMBER FOUR PISTON ROD TO SNAP AND BREAK THROUGH THE ENGINE BLOCK DESTROYING THE ENGINE. I WAS AT THE DODGE DEALERSHIP IN COLMA A FEW WEEKS PRIOR FOR AN UNRELATED AIRBAG RECALL FIX AND SPOKE TO THE A SERVICE SUPERVISOR ABOUT THE WATER RELATED STALLING ISSUE. HE BASICALLY TOLD ME TO GO SOMEWHERE ELSE BECAUSE THEY ONLY USE OE PARTS AND EVEN IF THEY COULD FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM (NO GUARANTEE), THEY PROBABLY COULDN'T GET ORIGINAL PARTS. HE ACTED LIKE HE WAS DOING ME A FAVOR! I FEEL AS THE DODGE AND THE DEALERSHIP IS NEGLIGENT. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT GET TO THIS RECALL FOR 1 TO 1.5 YEARS. THIS DEALER IS APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES FROM ME. I CALLED A DEALER FURTHER AWAY, APPROXIMATELY 70 MILES. THEY TOLD ME I COULD SCHEDULE THE REPAIR FOR TOMORROW. I DID SCHEDULE THIS REPAIR FOR A WEEK AND HALF AWAY WITH THIS FURTHER DEALER. I LIVE IN BEAR COUNTRY, IF THIS HAD HAPPENED WHILE I WAS IN A REMOTE AREA I COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN STRANDED WITH 800LBS OF CLAWS AND TEETH. I STARTED THE MOTOR IN MY DRIVEWAY DURING A LIGHT RAIN SHOWER ONLY TO HEAR AN OBVIOUS PROBLEM IN THE ENGINE, IT RAN FOR 5 SECONDS THEN DIED. PLENTY OF VEHICLES HAVE BEEN AFFECTED BY THIS ISSUE, BUT NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED. THE 2012 HEMI HAD A VERY SIMILAR ISSUE AND A RECALL WAS ISSUED.
