GOT A NOTICE THAT MY AIRBAG HAS A RECALL

RECENTLY WHEN RAIN FALLS HEAVILY THE ENGINE STARTS SPUTTING & CUTS OFF THEN ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. TOOK IT TO MECHANIC & THEY PUT THE MACHINE ON IT. IT SHOWS NOTHING IS WRONG. PUT KEEPS DOING IT ONLY WHEN HEAVY RAINS FALLS. FINALLY WENT ONLINE TO ALL THE OTHER COMPLAINTS TO DODGE & FOUND OUT ITS THE COWLING. CHANGED THE COWLING BUT ITS STILL DOING IT. ITS A DODGE PROBLEM BUT THEY WILL NOT FIX THEIR PROBLEM & ITS COSTING ME A LOT OF MONEY. DODGE NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS IMMEDIATELY

TAKATA INFLATORS RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN JULY OF 2016 NOW AN AIRBAG LIGHT HAS COME ON THE DASH HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING FROM THEM SINCE INITIAL CONTACTS.
DODGE DURANGO LIMITED 4X4 ENGAGES 4 WHEEL DRIVE RANDOMLY ON THE FREEWAY AT HIGH SPEEDS, WITHOUT BEING TOLD TO. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUES AND I SEE MANY PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT IT ONLINE.
WHEN RAINING CAR STARTS SHAKING THEN SHUTS OFF MAKING IT HARD TO TURN WHEELS. WHEN MAKING SHARP RIGHT TURNS OR REVERSING FEELS AS IF IT IS STALLING OR SOMETHING IS LOCKING UP. AT ANY GIVEN TIME IT MAKES A SWISHING SOUND BUT MOSTLY WHEN LOCKING OR UNLOCKING DOORS. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE SHOP SEVERAL TIMES TO THIS LOOKED AT AND THE SHOP OWNER COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT.

TAKATA RECALL I HAVE GOTTEN SEVERAL NOTICES IN THE MAIL THAT MY DODGE DURANGO HAS A RECALL FOR BOTH THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAGS. I HAVE CONTACTED MY DEALER ABOUT GETTING THE RECALL RECTIFIED 3 TIMES NOW BUT AM TOLD THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS ON HAND TO FIX. I FIND IT HARD TO UNDERSTAND WHY MY VEHICLE CAN NOT BE FIXED IN A MORE TIMELY MANNER. WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE TO GET THE AIR BAG REPLACEMENT DONE?

TAKATA RECALL - I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE ABOUT THE AIR BAG IN JUNE 2016 AND AS OF FEBRUARY 2017 I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION THAT I CAN HAVE MY AIRBAG REPLACED.
TAKATA RECALL. I BROUGHT MY DURANGO IN TO THE DEALER FOR THE TAKATA RECALL. THEY TOLD ME THE WORK WAS DONE. THEY MAILED ME A RECEIPT. UNFORTUNATELY, IT APPEARS THAT THEY TRANSPOSED THE LAST TWO DIGETS OF THE VIN. THEREFORE, MY VEHICAL SHOWS THE RECALL NOT DONE AND PROBABLY SOME OTHER DURANGO BEING DONE. I HAVE CONTACTED BOTH THE DEALER AND DODGE CORPERATE. AS OF NOW, I DON'T KNOW IF MY VEHICLE WAS FIXED! CONTACTED DODGE CORPERATE 5/27/2016. THIS RECALL HAS BEEN PENDING SINCE MAY 2016, HAS BEEN TO DEALERSHIP BUT PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. PLEASE HELP US SO WE CAN GET THIS DONE AT DEALERSHIP EITHER LITTLE FALLS, NJ OR ANY OTHER LOCAL DEALERSHIP. THANK YOU

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PUSH ROD FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 140,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 DODGE DURANGO. WHENEVER IT RAINED OR SNOWED, WATER LEAKED INTO THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE HOOD. THE WATER ENTERED THE MOTOR AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STALL AND THE ENGINE TO SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE WATER WAS LEAKING INTO THE MOTOR AND THE PISTONS, WHICH CAUSED THEM TO FAIL. AS A RESULT, THE MOTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
MY VEHICLE IS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE INSTRUMENT PANEL THAT PREVIOUSLY HAD A RECALL FOR ELECTRICAL ISSUES AND IT IS SHOWING ELECTRICAL ISSUES AGAIN EVERY LIGHT IS COMING ON AND GOING OFF AND AT TIMES I AM NOT ABLE TO TAKE MY CAR OUT OF PARK AND IT NONE OF THE GAUGES WORK.
COWL SCREEN HAS WATER LEAKING ON THE ENGINE WHEN IT RAINS. IT CAUSED MY TRUCK TO DRIVE SHAKY AND THEN CUT OFF. I ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT. IT STALLED OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF ME DRIVING ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. WHY ISN'T THERE ANY RECALLS FOR THIS, I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT IT BUT NOTHING IS GETTING DONE. I GUESS IT WOULD TAKE FOR SOME PEOPLE TO LOSE THEIR LIFE BEHIND THE WHEEL BEFORE IT GET FIXED. I ALWAYS THOUGHT DODGE WAS THE BEST VEHICLE BUT I AM NOW SECOND GUESSING MYSELF AND WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER DODGE VEHICLE AGAIN IF THIS PROBLEM ISN'T FIXED. IT IS VERY UNSAFE TO BE RIDING WITH YOUR KIDS WHILE ITS RAINING AND TOUR VEHICLE CUTS OFF ON A BUSY HIGHWAY WITH NO WARNER.IF YOU REALLY CARE ABOUT YOUR CUSTOMERS LIVES YOU WILL SERIOUSLY LIKEINTO GETTING THIS PROBLEM RESOLVED. UNTIL THEN I WOULD RECOMMEND CHEVY VEHICLE FOR MY FAMILY FRIENDS AND EVERYONE I KNOW. WHILE DRIVING IN THE RAIN ALL OF A SUDDEN THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE AND MY ENGINE STARTED KNOCKING LOUDLY. I WAS ABLE TO PULL THE ENGINE AND PULL IT APART AND FOUND THERE WAS WATER IN THE INTAKE AND THE NUMBER 5 CYLINDER ROD HAD BROKE. LUCKILY THE PART THAT BROKE WENT DOWN AND THE OIL PAN GASKET/WINDAGE TRAY SLOWED IT DOWN ENOUGH TO NOT GO THROUGH THE BLOCK. AFTER FURTHER INSPECTION I NOTICED THAT THE INTAKE GASKETS WERE NOT SEALING PROPERLY AND ALLOWED WATER TO BE SUCKED INTO THE INTAKE AND THEN HYDRA LOCKED THE NUMBER 5 PISTON. WHEN I PUT IT TOGETHER I NOTICED THE "SEAL" ON THE COWL WASN'T EVEN TOUCHING THE WINDOW AND THAT LET THE RAIN GO DIRECTLY INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND SIT ON THE ENGINE. PUT THOSE TWO PROBLEMS TOGETHER WITH THE RAIN AND NOW I HAVE A MOTOR THAT IS BROKEN. I CALLED DODGE AND THE LADY TRIED TELLING ME THAT HER "MASTER" MECHANIC HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM AND YET WHEN I TYPED IN A SEARCH ON THIS MODEL AND YEAR THAT WAS THE FIRST THING THAT POPPED UP. I KNOW THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THE 2004 DODGE DURANGO. I HAVE INSERTED PICTURES OF THEIR INTAKE GASKETS AND THEN I HELD A RULER UP TO THE INTAKE FLAT AND YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE THE LIGHT SHINING THROUGH THE GASKET WHICH MEANS THAT THIS WAS DEFINITELY NOT SEALING. ALSO I PUT A PICTURE OF THE COWL SEAL AND SHOWED HOW CHEAP IT IS. ALSO WHILE WE WERE WAITING TO GET THE FUNDS TO REPAIR THE ENGINE IT SAT THROUGH THE WINTER COMPLETELY COVERED AND THE ENGINE HADN'T EVEN BEEN TAKEN APART YET AND WHEN WE PULLED THE INTAKE OFF IT WAS COMPLETELY "FULL" OF WATER WHICH IN TURN FILLED THE HEADS AND THE CYLINDERS WITH WATER.
TAKATA RECALL - MY TRUCK SMELLS LIKE GAS ON THE INSIDE & OUTSIDE & IS LEAKING GAS THE FUEL TANK HAS COLLAPSED FOR THE SECOND TIME I HAVE REPLACED IT 5YEARS AGO & NOW IS COLLAPSED AGAIN IS THERE ANY RECALL DO TO IT BEING A REOCCURRING ISSUE , AFRAID THAT IS GOING TO CATCH ON FIRE WHILE DRIVING IT OR PARKED ANY LITTLE SPARK PROBABLY CAN IGNITE IT INTO FLAMES.

AS A RESULT OF THE FAILURE, THE WHEELS LOCKED AND IT WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO MAKE ANY TURNS. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS WHILE IN TWO WHEEL DRIVE, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SUDDENLY SWITCH TO NEUTRAL, THE VEHICLE WOULD STOP, AND THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE SENSOR LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE. AFTER SHUTTING OFF AND RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD MAKE A GRINDING NOISE WHILE IN FOUR WHEEL DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSFER CASE SHIFT MOTOR WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.

I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR MINE TO BE REPLACED FOR A VERY LONG TIME! I FINALLY GOT A CALL FOR AN APPT AT A PLACE 25 MINUTES AWAY TO FIX MY AIRBAGS THEN WHEN IT WAS ABOUT TIME FOR MY APT THEY CALLED AND SAID THEY RAN OUT OF PARTS AND WOULD CALL ME WHEN THEY GOT MORE FROM THE COMPANY. THAT WAS A VERY LONG TIME AGO AND STILL NO WORD. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS ISN'T REALLY A RECAL THAT IT HAS ACTUALLY NEVER HAPPENED TO ANYONE SO I SHOULDN'T WORRY ABOUT THIS RECALL. THE FIRST CALL WAS IN FEB AFTER I HAD CALLED MONTHS PRIOR TO GET AN APPT THEY MADE ME AN APPT FOR MARCH THEN CALLED BEFORE IT TO TELL ME THEY HAD NO PARTS.

I WAS TOLD I WOULD GET A LOANER CAR FOR MY DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG, THEN EVERY TIME I AM PUT THROUGH TO TO DEALER I AM THEN TOLD I MAY HAVE TO GO TO THE ENTERPRISE AND GET A RENTAL AND PUT DOWN $100 OF MY OWN MONEY... I DON'T HAVE THAT. SO THAT IS STILL NOT REPLACED, ALSO NOW THERE IS NO PARTS FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE AND IT'S NOT AT ALL SAFE, THE LIGHT IS GOING OFF AND ON IN MY CAR AND I HAVE SECTION 1 AND MY CAR IS 2004 MEANING THE 6-9 YEARS IS NOW IN THE 13TH YEAR. I WANT A LOANER CAR TILL YOU CAN FINALLY FIX BOTH AIRBAGS, THIS IS INSANE!

WE WERE VERY HAPPY WITH OUR DURANGO UNTIL A FEW DAYS AGO. MY HUSBAND AND KIDS LOADED UP A FEW DAYS BEFORE CHRISTMAS TO GO DRIVE UP THE MOUNTAIN, THEY MADE JUST AS FAR AS THE NEIGHBORS DRIVEWAY WHEN THEY HEARD A LOUD BANG AND WERE ABLE TO PULL IN TO THE DRIVEWAY OF A NEIGHBOR. THE ENGINE COMPLETLY SEIZED, ALL OIL LEAKED OUT. THE CAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED. NO WARNING AT ALL! A FEW DAYS EARLIER I HAD DROVE IT TO TOWN IN THE RAIN AND IT WAS IDLING ROUGH, BUT THE NEXT DAY SEEMED FINE. NOW THE ENGINE IS SHOT. WE HAVE BEEN HAVING HEAVY RAIN FOR DAYS AND LOOKS LIKE WATER WAS LEAKING IN TO THE ENGINE DUE TO A FAULTY COWL OR SOMETHING, WHICH CAUSED THE ENGINE TO FAIL. WE HAD JUST PUT BRAND NEW TIRES ON THE VEHICLE AND JUST RECEIVED NEW TAGS FOR IT! ALL THIS WITH ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING! WE ARE JUST OUT A VEHICLE AND 2 DAYS BEFORE CHRISTMAS! HAD WE KNOWN THIS WAS AN ISSUE WE WOULD HAVE GLADLY DONE EVERYTHING WE COULD TO FIX IT, BUT WE HAVE ONLY HAD THE VEHICLE FOR A FEW YEARS AND HAD NO IDEA RAIN COULD CAUSE OUR ENGINE TO SEIZE UP! THANKFUL IT HAPPENED CLOSE TO HOME AND NO ACCIDENT, BUT VERY SCARY WHEN SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPENS!
WHILE ENTERING A HIGHWAY AND ACCELERATING UP TO SPEED THERE WAS A LOUD BANG, BOTH HEARD AND FELT, FOLLOWED BY VERY ROUGH ENGINE OPERATION. TURNED ONTO THE FIRST AVAILABLE SIDE STREET AND STOPPED THE VEHICLE. WHILE EXAMINING THE VEHICLE AND LOOKING IN THROUGH THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT WHEEL WELL DISCOVERED A HOLE IN THE ENGINE BLOCK. THE CRANKSHAFT IS VISIBLE THROUGH THE HOLE.
THE WEATHER STRIPPING WAS BAD ON MY DURANGO WHICH CAUSED WATER TO GET INTO MY ENGINE AND CAUSED IT TO SEIZE UP
DURANGO DECIDES TO GO INTO 4 WH DRIVE AT RANDOM WITHOUT INPUT FROM THE DRIVER TO DO SO. STEERING BECOMES HEAVY ... OFTEN THIS OCCURS WHEN THE DRIVER IS MAKING A TURN AT SLOW SPEEDS. DEPENDING OF THE STRENGTH OF THE DRIVER THIS CAN EASILY CAUSE A CRASH. THE MOTOR RPMS ARE PULLED DOWN AS THE DRIVER MAKES THE TURN AND CAN CAUSE THE CAR TO STALL...MAKING THE STEERING VERY HEAVY. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE DURANGO... FAULTY TRANSFER CASE MOTOR. THIS SHOULD BE REPLACED BY CHRYSLER.
PURCHASED VEHICLE IN APRIL 2013. FIRST WEEK FUEL PUMP WENT OUT. IN LATE 2013 REPLACED FUEL PUMP AGAIN AFTER IT WENT OUT A SECOND TIME. BY NOW WE REALIZED THAT IF WE DROVE THE VEHICLE IN THE RAIN OR THROUGH A CAR WASH IT WOULD SHUTTER AND CUT OFF. IN EARLY 2014 THE FUEL PUMP WENT OUT AGAIN. WE REPLACED FUEL PUMP AGAIN AND ALSO COWL AS WE HAD FOUND INFORMATION THAT THE COWL WAS ALLOWING WATER TO DRIP DOWN ON THE ENGINE AND ELECTRICAL BOX. THIS HELPED FOR ABOUT 14 MONTHS. IN JULY 2015 REPLACED FUEL PUMP TWICE. NOW IT IS NOVEMBER 2015 AND AS I TYPE THIS IT IS BACK IN THE SHOP HAVING THE FUEL PUMP REPLACED AGAIN. WATER IS AGAIN LEAKING ONTO THE ENGINE AND COMPUTER BLOCK. IT CAUSES SHUTTERING AND STALLING AND THEN WITHIN A SHORT TIME THE FUEL PUMP GOES OUT. DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD IN THE RAIN IS TERRIBLY DANGEROUS BECAUSE THERE IS NO WAY TO TELL IF THE VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF OR NOT. I HAVE CONTACTED DODGE AND THERE IS A TECHNICAL SAFETY BULLETIN ABOUT THIS ISSUE, BUT NO RECALL AS OF YET. A QUICK SEARCH SHOWS HUNDREDS OF OTHER DODGE OWNERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. BECAUSE MOST OF THE VEHICLES ARE NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY DODGE HAS NOT ADDRESS THE ISSUE AS A WHOLE. I HOPE IT DOESN'T TAKE SOMEONE OR A FAMILY BEING KILLED BEFORE A RECALL IS ISSUED.
11/18/15. IT WAS RAINING HARD HERE IN OREGON AS I WAS ON MY WAY BACK FROM TAKING MY GIRLFRIEND TO THE DOCTORS. I WAS FIRST IN LINE AT AN INTERSECTION. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I PROCEEDED. HALF WAY THROUGH THE INTERSECTION, WITHOUT WARNING, I HEARD A TERRIBLE REPEATING BANG. MY VEHICLE DIED AND I WAS ABLE TO COAST INTO A NEAR PARKING LOT. I HAD IT TOWED TO MY MECHANIC AND HE TOOK IT APART AND HAD FOUND OUT THE ENGINE WAS SHOT. HE REPORTED TO ME, THAT HE HAS HAD A FEW OF THESE DURANGOS LATELY WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.
TAKATA RECALL: TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 14V770000 (AIR BAGS) AND 15V313000 (AIR BAGS), HOWEVER, THE PARTS TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 156,404. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
ENGINE BLEW. A ROD OR SOMETHING BLEW WITHOUT WARNING THROUGH THE ENGINE CASE AS I WAS DRIVING AT 35 MPH ON STRAIGHT ROAD ON A TOWN STREET
AFTER NOTICING A DIFFERENCE IN DRIVING POWER FROM A STOP THE RPM'S WOULD ALMOST HIT 2K BEFORE MOVING. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND SAID THAT I HAD A MISS-FIRE IN CYLINDER 8 AND I NEEDED A NEW IGNITION COIL. BOUGHT NEW PLUGS AND AN IGNITION COIL AND PROCEEDED TO CHANGE THEM OUT. THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE ENGINE PLUGS STILL LOOKED CLEAN AND NEW. THE PASSENGERS SIDE WERE BURNT, HAD MOISTURE AND THE CYLINDER 8 PLUG WAS FOULED AND BROKE OFF IN THE ENGINE. FINISHED CHANGING EVERYTHING OUT AND PUT THE TRUCK BACK TOGETHER WITH STILL NO CHANGE IN CODES OR POWER. FOUND THAT THE STARTER WAS CORRODED AND INFORMATION CONCERNING A BAD COWL DESIGN CAUSING HYDRO-LOCKING OF THE ENGINES. ALSO REPLACED THE EXHAUST GASKETS 3 TIMES IN 5-6 YEAR PERIOD EACH TIME WITH BROKEN BOLTS FOUND. CHANGED OUT THE PCM, THEN REPLACED ALL THE INJECTORS WHICH WERE FOUND TO BE CRACKED AND SWOLLEN. THE TRUCK IS STILL GOING INTO LIMP MODE AND TURNED MY FOCUS ON THE TRANSMISSION (REPLACED AS WELL) AND STILL HAVING CYLINDER 8 MISS-FIRE CODES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. IN ADDITION, THE BRAKES FAILED WHEN DEPRESSED. THE GEAR SHIFT HAD TO BE SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL TO REGAIN CONTROL. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,085.
2004 DURANGO 5.7 EVERY TIME WE HAVE A HARD RAIN THE MOTOR STALLS OR RUNS EXTREMELY ROUGH AND WE HAVE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I TRAVEL FOR WORK, AND RECEIVED A CALL FROM MY WIFE THAT THE DURANGO WOULD NO CRANK OVER BUT WAS NOT CAUSED BY BATTERY ISSUE AS IT HAD JUST BEEN REPLACED. HAD SEVERAL PEOPLE LOOK AT IT AND THEY SAID MOTOR WAS LOCKED UP (HAD RAINED THE NIGHT BEFORE). LET IT SIT UNTIL I GOT HOME AND IT STARTED UP WITH A LITTLE KICK BACK AGAINST STARTER. LET IT WARM UP AND WENT AND HAD THE BATTERY AND STARTER CHECKED, BOTH WERE WITHIN SPECIFICATION FOR VOLTAGE AND AMP DRAW. DROVE ON COUNTY HWY WITH 45 MILE SPEED LIMIT APPROX. THREE MILES TO THE BANK. LEAVING THE BANK MADE A RIGHT TURN ONTO MAIN STREET AND THE MOTOR WENT THUMP, CLUNK, BANG AND DIED. COASTED OFF ROAD AND LOOKED UNDER VEHICLE THINKING WE HAD THROWN A BELT OR HIT SOMETHING. SAW OIL DRIPPING FROM PASSENGER SIDE OF MOTOR AND FOUND A HOLE IN THE OIL PAN WITH PART OF THE CONNECTING ROD STICKING THROUGH IT. I USED TO BE A MECHANIC SO I KNOW WHAT I WAS LOOKING AT. AFTER DOING RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND THAT THE RAIN GUTTER CHANNELS WATER ONTO THE TOP OF THE MOTOR WHERE THE PLASTIC INTAKE MANIFOLD HAS CRACKED ALLOWING WATER INTO THE MOTOR, THIS WATER CAN BECOME TRAPPED IN THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND BE PULLED INTO THE MOTOR WHILE IT IS RUNNING AND YOU ARE MAKING A TURN. TALKED TO MY LOCAL DODGE DEALER, THEY SAID THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A PROBLEM BUT KINDLY TOLD ME $8000 TO REPLACE MY MOTOR. TALKED TO THE PARTS DEPARTMENT AND THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY INFORMATION ON AN UPDATED RAIN GUTTER, EVEN THOUGH THERE APPEARS TO BE A SERVICE BULLETIN ON THIS PROBLEM. THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS I HAVE SEEN SAYS TO ME THAT THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM AS EVERY THING I HAVE READ SAYS IT IS QUITE COMMON
IN EARLY NOVEMBER 2015 WHILE DRIVING 45-50 MPH THE INSTRUMENT PANEL RANDOMLY WENT HAYWIRE AND ALL THE LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS AT THE SAME TIME. ABOUT TWO WEEKS LATER I REALIZED THAT THE OUTSIDE HEADLIGHTS WERE ALSO FLICKERING WHEN THE INSIDE LIGHTS FLICKERED. I TOOK TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND AFTER 4 DAY'S I WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT RE-PRODUCE THE ISSUE. I QUIT DRIVING AFTER DARK DUE TO THE LACK OF CONTROL IN KEEPING THE LIGHTS ON THEN NOTICED I WOULD HAVE INTERMITTENT FLICKERING WITH THE HEADLIGHT KNOB OFF. AFTER RESEARCHING THE DODGE FORUMS AND RULING OUT THE FUSES I PURCHASED A NEW "REDESIGNED" HEADLIGHT SWITCH AND INSTALLED IT. TOOK CARE OF ALL THE FLICKERING LIGHT ISSUES AND NOW I CAN DRIVE AT NIGHT AGAIN.
IF ANY WATER GETS INTO ENGINE COMPARTMENT (RAIN, ETC..) THE ENGINE WILL MISFIRE (STATIONARY) OR SHUT OFF (STATIONARY OR DRIVING). IF DRIVING WHILE RAINING, THE SUV WILL MISFIRE AND MAY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. THE ERROR SEEMS TO BE WELL DOCUMENTED ON THE INTERNET AND BECAME ALL TO REAL THIS WEEK WHEN THE CAR SHUT OFF AT 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE IT WAS RAINING ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT AND POTENTIALLY KILLING MY FAMILY.
EVERY TIME I FUEL MY DURANGO IT SPEWS GASOLINE AFTER THE PUMP IS SHUT OFF.
VEHICLE WOULD STALL DURING HEAVY RAINS AND TAKING IT THROUGH A CAR WASH WHILE DRIVING. SOMETIMES IT WOULD EVEN CUT OFF. ONE DAY IT CUT OFF AND I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. I BOUGHT MY VEHICLE BRAND NEW AND THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE THEN. GOODYEAR COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE ISSUE AND THE DODGE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP. SO THEY REPLACED MY FUEL PUMP AND THE PROBLEM STILL OCCURS DURING HEAVY RAINS AND GOING THROUGH THE CAR WASH. I REPLACED THE BATTERY A THIRD TIME AFTER CONTACTING ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. NOW THE VEHICLE IS MAKING A KNOCKING SOUND. I'M AFRAID IT'S THE ENGINE. AFTER RESEARCHING, THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE ISSUE WITH THE WIPER COWL LEAKING. THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN 18-006-05 PUT OUT BY CHRYSLER.
