WHILED DRIVING VEHICLE AT 50 MPH THE HEATED SEAT BURNED CONSUMER'S BACK AND INSIDE OF HIS RIGHT THIGH. TOOK VEHICLE TO A LOCAL MECHANIC, AND THEY CHECKED HEAT CONTROL, AND COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. CONSUMER WAS TAKEN TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM WITH SECOND DEGREE BURNS.*AK
PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY WHICH IS ON A SLIGHT UPWARD INCLINE WITH CAR RUNNING, UNLOADING GROCERIES WHILE KIDS WERE WATCHING A VIDEO. AFTER 15 MINUTES I REACHED IN THROUGH THE PASSENGER SIDE TO TURN OFF THE IGNITION AND THE CAR RELEASED OUT OF PARK, ROLLING DOWN THE DRIVEWAY, HIT A TREE AND MAILBOX. VEHICLE WAS 'CLICKING' THE ENTIRE WAY DOWN THE DRIVEWAY. *JB
OUR DURANGO HAD EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS PROBLEMS, SINCE WE PURCHASED IT NEW IN 5/04. THE ENGINE SURGED, IT STALLED, AND IT FELT LIKE THE BRAKES DID NOT GRAB IN THE REAR. IT ALSO RACKED UP MORE MILES ON THE ODOMETER, THAN IT ACTUALLY DROVE. ON 12/16/04 WE BROUGHT IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A RECALLED BATTERY CABLE. THE NEXT DAY THE ENGINE CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE DRIVING. IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED, AND WE PICKED IT BACK UP 12-28-04. ON 1-16-05 WE HAD A SECOND FIRE IN THE ENGINE WHILE DRIVING. THIS TIME IT WAS IN THE SHOP UNTIL 2-1-05. THE DEALERSHIP OVERHAULED THE TRANSMISSION, BUT DID NOT REPLACE IT. ON 2-2-05 AGAIN WHILE DRIVING, OUR DURANGO'S ENGINE CAUGHT ON FIRE, THIS TIME THE FIRE WAS SO BIG, AND SO FAST MY HUSBAND BARLEY HAD TIME TO GET OUR KID OUT BEFORE IT EXPLODED, AND BURNED TO THE GROUND. IT TOOK THE FIRE DEPARTMENT OVER AN HOUR TO GET THE FIRE OUT. I HAD SENT A CERTIFIED LETTER TO DAIMLER CHRYSLER, ASKING THEM TO BUY THE DURANGO BACK UNDER THE LEMON LAW ON 1-20-05. TO THIS DAY THERE HAS BEEN NO RESPONSE TO THAT LETTER. MY HUSBAND AND CHILDREN WERE ALMOST KILLED! *JB
WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP VEHICLE STALLED. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
MY VEHICLE HAS STALLED WHILE DRIVING ON 2 OCCASIONS. STEERING AND BRAKING ARE SERIOUSLY AFFECTED. *JB
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHILE ON THE HIGHWAY AROUND NORMAL OPERATING SPEEDS VEHICLE STARTED TO HESITATE AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THIS HAPPENED BEFORE I MADE MY FIRST PAYMENT. IT HAS BEEN REPAIRED THROUGH WARRANTY BUT IS STATING TO HESITATE AND GO OUT AGAIN. *AK
COMPLAINT RECEIVED VIA E-MAIL. SINCE THE PURCHASE OF THIS SUV, I HAVE HAD TO BRING THE TRUCK IN FOR SERVICE FOR VARIOUS THINGS. RECOMMENDED SERVICE, A FUSE OUT OF PLACE/BATTERY RECALL, AND TODAY, JANUARY 8, 2005, FOR A DETACHED THROTTLE CABLE, WHICH PREVENTED ACCELERATION. I DISCOVERED THIS PROBLEM AS I WAS ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE AT A MAJOR INTERSECTION, AND OBVIOUSLY, I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. WE RECEIVED ASSISTANCE IN PUSHING THE TRUCK OFF OF THE ROAD, AND I CALLED GWINNETT PLACE DODGE. I EXPLAINED THE SITUATION, AND I WAS GIVEN THE PHONE NUMBER TO SW TOWING SERVICE. WE ALSO ATTEMPTED TO SPEAK WITH A MANAGER IN REGARD TO THIS MATTER.*AK
DT: CONSUMER STATES THAT IN JANUARY HER VEHICLE STALLED WHILE SLOWING WITH NO WARNING DURING THE DAY. SHE THEN PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, PUT THE VEHICLE INTO PARK AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT. THEN ON FEBRUARY 6,2005, THIS HAPPENED AGAIN, WHILE GOING 60 MPH, THERE WAS NO SLOWING INVOLVED. THIS HAPPENED AT NIGHT THE DASH BOARD LIGHTS STAYED ON BUT SHE DID LOSE ALL POWER TO THE VEHICLET, SHE PUT THE VEHICLE INTO PARK AND THE VEHICLE DID RESTART RESTART. AT THAT TIME SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING BUT SHE SHOULD CHECK BACK FOR COMPUTER UPDATES. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND THEY ARE TRYING TO FIND THE PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. *AK
CONSUMER DROVE THE VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. ALSO, CONSUMER INFORMED THE MECHANIC THAT A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE FRONT WHILE DRIVING. MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE LEFT SIDE AND RIGHT SIDE UPPER BALL JOINTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO CORROSION. *AK
I WAS RETURNING FROM A LUNCHEON WITH AN ESTIMATING FIRE MARSHALL FOR WEST VIRGINIA AND A NICHOLAS COUNTY DEPUTY SHERIFF. WHEN DRIVING HOME TO BRAXTON COUNTY I SUDDENLY FELT A SUDDEN JERK IN THE STEERING WHEEL, AND THEN BEGAN TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I STRUCK A GUARD RAIL HEAD ON, AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. VEHICLE THEN ROLLED SEVERAL TIMES, ENTRAPPING ME INSIDE AND UPSIDE DOWN. IT WAS NOTED LATER THAT THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL HAD BROKEN LOOSE. NO OTHER VEHICLES WERE INVOLVED. I WAS TRANSPORTED TO BRAXTON COUNTY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL WHERE I WAS EXAMINED AND KEPT OVER NIGHT FOR OBSERVATION. I SUSTAINED NO BROKEN BONES, BUT SUFFERED SEVERAL CONTUSIONS WHICH CAUSED SEVER PAIN. DEALER WAS TOLD THE NEXT MORNING WHEN I WAS RELEASED FROM THE HOSPITAL, BUT WAS ONLY INTERESTED WHEN THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER WOULD BE HERE TO LOOK AT THE VEHICLE. IT IS A 2004 DODGE. DURANGE MANUFACTURED IN NOVEMBER 2003. I AM VERY UPSET AT THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE FACT THAT I WAS IN TO THE GARAGE ON DECEMBER 17TH FOR A RECALL ON THE POSITIVE BATERY CABLE TO BE FIXED DUE TO RUBBING ON THE UPPER CONTROL ARM. I RESPONDED TO THE RECALL NOTICE THE VERY DAY I RECEIVED IT. I ASK THE MECHANIC TO PUT THE VEHICLE ON THE HOIST, AND AT LEAST LOOK AT THE FRONT END COMPONETS, BUT WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A 2004 MODEL, AND IT WAS NOT SUBJECT TO A RECALL CONCERNING THAT PROBLEM, AND THAT THEY WERE VERY BUSY. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOU TIME IN THIS MATTER, AND I HOPE IT WILL PREVENT SOMEONE ELSE FROM HAVING THE SAME EXPERIENCE I DID, AND SAVE THEM THE PAIN AND SUFFERING I AM, OR THE POSSIBLITY OF BEING KILLED. WHILE TRAVELING ABOUT 20 MPH PRESSED BRAKE TO STOP AT STOP SIGN THE ENGINE RACED FORA FEW SECONDS.CAR WAS VERY HARD TO STOP.TOOK CAR TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD, THERE WAS NOTHING THEY CAN DO WITHOUT SEEING THE PROBLEM!*AK
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHAKE. CONSUMER PULLED OVER TO INSPECT THE ENGINE, AND FOUND NOTHING UNUSUAL. HE REENTERED THE VEHICLE AND STARTED DRIVING WHEN THE ENGINE BURNED. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. CONSUMER WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE WHEN THE SAME THING OCCURRED FOR THE SECOND TIME, AND THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED ANOTHER FIRE. THIS TIME THE DEALER DID NOT REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. CONSUMER EXPERIENCED A THIRD FIRE AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED.*AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE STALLED. CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO RESTART VEHICLE, AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. MECHANIC INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. *AK
2004 DODGE DURANGO APPROX 6300 MILES TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE AT 65 MPH RIGHT REAR TIRE (GOODYEAR SR/A P265/65R 17) EXPLODED. ONCE STOPPED AFTER APPROX 400' TO 500' FOUND TIRE TREAD COMPLETELY SEPARATED FROM SIDEWALL ON ONE SIDE OF TIRE ONLY. COMPLETELY INSPECTED TIRE NUMEROUS TIMES LOOKING FOR CAUSE OF FAILURE FOUND NO PUNCTURES CUTS, ETC. BROUGHT TIRE TO GOODYEAR TIRE STORE FOR REPLACEMENT. UPON RETURNING FOR TIRE, WAS INFORMED THEY HAD FOUND PUNCTURE HOLE IN TIRE. THAT HAD CAUSED THE TIRE TO RUN LOW AND THE RIM HAD CUT THE SIDEWALL. I HAVE THE TIRE, THE TIRE SHOWS MINIMAL ABRASION ON THE FAILED SIDE ONLY. WAS INFORMED BY GOODYEAR THEY ARE NOT AWARE OF ANY OTHER SIDEWALL FAILURES WITH THIS TIRE. INVESTIGATED MYSELF TO FIND HUNDREDS OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET. REGARDLESS OF THE CAUSE OF FAILURE,( IF MY TIRE DID HAVE A PUNCTURE AT TIME OF FAILURE) IT WOULD SEEM INHERENTLY UNSAFE FOR A TIRE TO HAVE THIS KIND OF DAMAGE IN SUCH A SHORT STOPPING DISTANCE. THIS TIRE WAS ALSO INSPECTED BY TWO INDEPENDENT GARAGES AND THEY DO NOT AGREE THAT THE PUNCTURE CAUSED THE DAMAGE. LUCKILY, MY WIFE WAS NOT INJURED DURING THIS INCIDENT. *NM
WHEN DRIVING DOWN A HILL THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED UP CAUSING THE RPMS TO GO UP TO 3500. THE CONSUMER HAD TO RIDE THE BRAKES CONTINUOUSLY. THE DEALER STATED THAT THIS WAS A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE DODGE . *AK ON TERRAIN WHERE ONE WOULD LIKE TO GO SLOW DOWN SLOPE, ONE COULD IDLE DOWN TO 2 MPH BUT IF ONE TOUCH THE GAS TO INCREASE, IT WOULD GO TO 1500 RPM AND IF ONE DOES NOT HIT THE BRAKE, IT WOULD SLOW DOWN CONTINUOUSLY INCREASING TO 3500 RPM WITHOUT TOUCHING THE GAS MORE. *SC
THE GOODYEAR WRANGLER SR/A ON MY DODGE DURANGO (OEM) ARE A HORRIBLE AND DANGEROUS SUV TIRE. THESE TIRES HAVE NO TRACTION IN WET OR SNOW CONDITIONS, AND EVEN THOUGH THE SUV IS AWD, THE TIRES HOLD THE VEHICLE ON THE ROAD. I CHECKED VARIOUS WEB SITE RATINGS ON THESE TIRES TO MAKE SURE I WAS NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO FELT THIS WAY. AS AN EXAMPLE, TIRERACK.COM, 1010TIRES.COM ALL HAVE NUMEROUS REVIEWS THAT INDICATE THESE TIRES ARE AWFUL AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS DUE TO THEIR CONSTRUCTION, TREAD DESIGN ETC. I CONTACTED GOODYEAR AND CHRYSLER--NEITHER ARE WILLING TO DO ANYTHING OR ACCEPT ANY BLAME HERE. I NOW HAVE TO FIND A GOOD SET OF TIRES IN THE ODD SIZE OF 265/65/17 TO PUT ON MY SUV BEFORE I SLIDE OUT OF CONTROL IN SNOW/ICE THIS WINTER. ITS A DISGRACE. *JB
THE FOG LIGHTS, LOCATED IN THE BUMPER OF THE 2004 DODGE DURANGO IS DAMAGED WHEN DEBRIS (ROCKS) FROM THE ROAD WAY ARE KICKED UP. THE FOG LIGHTS ARE MADE OF GLASS BUT THE HEADLIGHTS ARE COVERED IN PLASTIC. LITTLE STONES WHERE KICKED UP BY TRUCKS WHICH BROKE BOTH FOG LAMPS COSTING 140 DOLLARS IN REPAIR FOR JUST DRIVING DOWN THE ROADWAY. I FEEL THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE THESE LAMPS ARE MADE OF GLASS WHICH CAUSED THEM TO BREAK AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THEY SHOULD BE COVERED WITH PLASTIC TO PREVENT THIS COSTLY REPAIR. *JB
THE CONSUMER WAS T-BONED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE ON THE MIDDLE, REAR SIDE AT 20 MILES PER HOUR. THE CURTAIN AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY UPON IMPACT. *JB
WHILE DRIVING THE THROTTLE STUCK, AND THE BRAKES FAILED. THIS CAUSED THE CONSUMER TO GO INTO A DITCH. VEHICLE WAS TOWED. DEALERSHIP REPAIRED THE PROBLEM THREE TIMES, BUT IT RECURRED. *AK DEALER DID NOT REPAIR PROBLEM THEY INSTALLED CODE READER AND SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG. THEY CALLED CHRYSLER AND CHRYSLER SAID THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. *BF
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED VEHICLE STALLED. *AK
DODGE DURANGO, HEMI 5.7 LITER ENGINE WENT OUT. STARTED OUT WITH A TICKING NOISE THAT I WOUND OUT TO BE THE #7 CYLINDER CONNECTING ROD WAS BENT AND HITTING THE BAFFLE ABOVE THE CRANKSHAFT. IT BROKE, AS I WAS DRIVING IT ONTO THE LIFT, AND SENT THE ROD THROUGH THE SIDE OF THE BLOCK. ENGINE IS DEAD, 116K MILES. *TR
I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2004 DODGE DURANGO FROM A REPUTABLE CAR DEALERSHIP EXPECTING IT TO BE THE HIGH QUALITY THAT I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN USED TO WITH DODGE. HOWEVER, I AM EXTREMELY DISSATISFIED. WHEN I DRIVE THIS VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY ( AT POSTED SPEED OR LESS), IT FEELS AS THOUGH THE WIND WILL PICK IT UP & CARRY IT AWAY! IT SWAYS & SHIMMY'S CONSTANTLY. IT FEELS AS THOUGH HIGH AIR CURRENTS ARE CURCULATING INSIDE THE VEHICLE ALSO. IT DOES NOT FEEL SAFE AT ALL. WHAT SHOULD I DO? I AM RETIRED & LIVE ON A VERY MODEST INCOME, SO I CANNOT JUST GO HAVE THIS PROBLEM REPAIRED WITH NO THOUGHT OF THE COST. I ALSO HAVE ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH MY DODGE DURANGO. WHENEVER I HAVE THE WINDOW ( OR WINDOWS) OPEN AT ALL, WHETHER IT BE A CRACK OR COMPLETELY OPEN, A VERY LOUD, ALMOST DEAFENING ROAR ENTERS THE VEHICLE. I CAUSES SUCH HORRIBLE EAR PAIN TO ALL INSIDE THE DURANGO, THAT WE CAN NEVER HAVE THE WINDOWS OPEN AT ALL. THIS MAY SEEM LIKE A MINOR PROBLEM, BUT ACTUALLY IT IS NOT. BESIDES THE FACT THAT I AM PAYING FOR THIS VEHICLE THROUGH A LOAN & EXPECT IT TO PERFORM AS A NEW VEHICLE SHOULD, MY WIFE HAS SEVERE ASTHMA & MANY TIMES WILL NEED FRESH AIR IN ORDER TO BREATHE PROPERLY. IT IS NOT ALWAYS POSSIBLE TO STOP AT THE SIDE OF THE ROAD! PLEASE TELL ME WHAT I SHOULD DO. THANK YOU VEY MUCH!*AK

ELECTRICAL PROBLEM DEVELOPED DUE TO FRONT WINDSHIELD NOT BEING INSTALLED PROPERLY AT TIME OF MANUFACTURING *NM
I OWN A NEW 2004 DODGE DURANGO LIMITED. IT HAS A DEALER ACTIVATED FEATURE THAT TILTS THE OUTSIDE REAR VIEW MIRRORS DOWNWARD FOR GREATER VISABILITY WHEN IN REVERSE. I HAD THAT FEATURE ACTIVATED AND FOUND THAT THE MIRRORS DID NOT TILT DOWNWARD SUFFICIENTLY FOR INCREASED VISIBILITY AS DESCRIBED IN THE OWNERS MANUAL. AFTER ACTIVATING THE FEATURE ON ANOTHER DURANGO, THE DEALER'S SALES AND SERVICE PERSONNEL ALL AGREED THAT IT DID NOT WORK AS DESCRIBED AND WAS INEFFECTIVE. THE DEALER'S SERVICE MANAGER PROMISED TO INITIATE AND FORWARD A DEFECTIVE ENGINEERING REPORT TO DODGE.*AK
WHILE BRAKING ANY SPEED VEHICLE ACCELERATED, CAUSING IT TO HIT A MAIL BOX. CONSUMER MANAGED TO PULL OVER, AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS COME ON AND STAY ON. I JUST TURNED ON THE CAR AND THE LIGHTS STAYED ON. I HAVE HAD MY 2004 DODGE DURANGO FOR 9 MONTHS AND IT HAS BEEN IN THREE TIMES FOR THE ABS PROBLEM. A TOTAL OF 17 DAYS AND STILL COUNTING. THEY CHANGED THE SPEED SENSOR, THE WIRING HARNESS, AND THE ECM FOR ABS AND NOW ITS BACK IN THE SHOP.*AK
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOORBOARD WHEN DEPRESSED. IN ADDITION, THE RADIATOR CONSTANTLY OVERHEATED AND THE SPEEDOMETER WAS REGISTERING HOT. THE DEALER REPLACED THE RADIATOR, AND STATED THAT IT WAS CLOGGED AND NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. ANOTHER DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS A HOLE PUNCTURED IN THE RADIATOR. WHEN THE CONTACT RETURNED TO THE ORIGINAL DEALER, THEY STATED THAT THEY ALSO NOTICED THE HOLE. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED, AND THE PASSENGER'S SIDE WINDSHIELD WIPER CONSTANTLY BECAME UNSCREWED. THIS WAS THE CONTACT'S SECOND DODGE DURANGO, AND WAS HAVING THE SAME FAILURES. SHE STATED THAT SHE NEVER RECEIVED ANY RECALL NOTICES FOR ANY OF THE ONES THAT EXISTED. THE DEALER DID NOT RECORD THE VIN TO RESEARCH IF THE VEHICLE HAD ANY DEFECTS. THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO DEALER FOR SERVICE FOR ALL OF THE FAILURES EXCEPT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHT AND WINDSHIELD LIGHT. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 68,000 , AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.*AK
I WAS AT A STOP SIGN WAITING FOR MY TURN TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN. WHEN ALL WAS CLEAR I STARTED TO MAKE THE LEFT HAND TURN AND ALL OF A SUDDEN HAD ABSOLUTELY NO CONTROL OF THE STEERING WHEEL. MY TRUCK PROCEEDED TO TURN IN A LEFT HAND TURN ALMOST ALLOWING ME TO DO A 360 AT A SLOW RATE OF SPEED. I HEARD A LOT OF NOISE AND AFTER ABOUT 30-60 SECONDS HAD REGAINED CONTROL OF THE STEERING WHEEL LANDING IN A DITCH ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I DROVE THE CAR DIRECTLY TO THE DEALERSHIP AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY DID, EXCEPT THAT THEY CLAIMED TO HAVE FIXED IT AND I HAVE NOT HAD ANOTHER ONE OF THESE PROBLEMS AGAIN. I AM NOT SURE OF THE DATE SO I TOOK A GUESS. *JB
DRIVING 2004 DODGE DURANGO ACCELERATOR GOT STUCK TO FLOOR. PREENING THE BRAKE, VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. *BF THE INCIDENT WAS DUE A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT PER FIRE INSPECTION. TO WHOM IT CONCERNS: MY WIFE AND I LEASE A 2004 DODGE DURANGO EQUIPPED WITH THE 5.7 LITER HEMI ENGINE. OVER THE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS THE VEHICLE ENGINE STALLS AND QUITS DURING DAY TO DAY DRIVING. THERE IS NO PATTERN TO THE STALLING. WE HAVE TAKEN THE DURANGO TO DEALERS IN TYLER (ADD NAME) AND HUNTSVILLE (TEAM DODGE) ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. NEITHER DEALER HAS BEEN ABLE TO FIX THE VEHICLE. WE HAVE ALSO CONTACTED THE CHRYSLER "HOTLINE" WITH NO RESOLUTION. MY WIFE DRIVES THIS VEHICLE EVERY DAY. SHE IS NOW 9 MONTHS PREGNANT. WE ALSO HAVE A SON (12) AND A DAUGHTER (9). MY WIFE IS THE USUAL "VICTIM" OF THE STALLING. IT HAS HAPPENED IN DANGEROUS SITUATIONS SUCH AS TURNING IN TRAFFIC. SHE IS A NERVOUS WRECK BECAUSE SHE NEVER KNOWS WHEN IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN. SHORTLY SHE WILL BE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE WITH AN INFANT. MY FAMILY IS AT RISK EVERY TIME WE START THE ENGINE. TEAM DODGE MET WITH THE CHRYSLER REGIONAL MANAGER TO PLEAD OUR CASE AND SEEK A REMEDY. HIS RESPONSE WAS CALLOUS AND UNCARING. WE COULD TURN THE VEHICLE BACK SUBJECT TO PENALTIES FOR EARLY TERMINATION AND MILEAGE. IF WE SIMPLY TURNED THE VEHICLE BACK, CHRYSLER WOULD CLASSIFY IT AS A "REPOSSESSION." ON SEPTEMBER 24, 2004 THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED. ON DECEMBER 29, 2004 THE BATTERY CABLE WAS REROUTED PER RECALL. ON MAY 6, 2005 THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED, THE FOLLOWING PARTS WERE REPLACED THE HUB/DRIVE FAN, THERMOSTAT, WATER PUMP, AND THE SPARK PLUGS. ON MAY 16, 2005 OVERHEATED THE RADIATOR HAD TO BE REPLACED. ON AUGUST 12, 2005 THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED. THE FOLLOWING PARTS WERE REPLACED THE HEADS, VALVES, CAMSHAFT,AND SPROCKET. ON OCTOBER 18, 2005 THE VEHICLE HAD SQUEAKY BRAKES, BRAKE PADS REPLACED AND ROTORS TURNED. THE RIGHT REAR AXLE LEAKED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ON JANUARY 17, 2006 THE RADIO CUT IN AND OUT, DASHBOARD CONTROLS WERE FLICKERING ON AND OFF. NO PROBLEMS WERE FOUND. ALSO, I ASKED FOR THE BRAKES TO BE CHECKED FOR THE SAME TYPE OF VIBRATION. STATED THERE WAS NO SAFETY ISSUE, BUT ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ON JANUARY 20, 2006 THE VEHICLE WAS AGAIN BROUGHT TO THE DEALER FOR THE RADIO, DASHBOARD, AND STALLING. THE CAR WAS KEPT FOR TWO DAYS AND RETURNED WITHOUT ANY SOLUTION. ON S JANUARY 22, 2006 AGAIN MY VEHICLE STALLED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. ON JANUARY 24, 2006 WAS AGAIN BROUGHT IN TO THE DEALER. I SPOKE WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER ON JANUARY 25, 2006 AND HE TOLD ME THAT CHRYSLER SAID STATIC ELECTRICITY FROM THE SEAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM. HE WAS THEN ADVISED TO SPRAY THE SEATS WITH SOMETHING TO ELIMINATE THE STATIC ELECTRICITY. THE CAR WAS TO BE DELIVERED TO ME BY AN EMPLOYEE OF THE DEALER, WHEN THE GENTLEMEN ARRIVED HE TOLD ME THAT THE CAR RADIO STARTED CUTTING IN AND OUT, AND THE DASH BOARD WENT CRAZY, HE THEN LEFT WITH THE LOANER CAR AND I PROCEEDED TO CALL THE DEALERSHIP, DRIVER CAME BACK TO PICK UP MY CAR ONCE AGAIN TO RETURN TO THE DEALERSHIP. WE PURCHASED OUR DURANGO NEW IN 8/04. ON 9/ 9/04 THE TRUCK STARTED, BUT DIED WHILE I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY GARAGE. WE HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY STATED IT NEEDED AN UPDATE PERFORMED ON THE COMPUTER SYSTEM. IT HAPPENED AGAIN ON 9/24/04 AND THEN IN OCT. IT HAD TO BE TOWED AND THEY CLAIMED THAT THEY APPARENTLY DID NOT GET THE UPDATE COMPLETED OR DONE PROPERLY. WE BEGAN NOTICING THEN THAT THE TRUCK FELT AS IF IT WAS SURGING OR ALMOST SKIPPING A GEAR. MULTIPLE PEOPLE FROM THE DEALERSHIP TEST DROVE IT ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. WE WERE TOLD THAT WE WERE JUST FEELING MORE W/ THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE IT WAS SUCH A SMOOTH RIDE COMPARED TO MOST 4WD VEHICLES. DOES THAT MAKE SENSE? WE FINALLY GAVE UP. NOW ON 3/ 25/06 THE TRUCK DIED WHILE IN PARK IN A PARKING LOT. THAT SAME NIGHT IT SURGED AS I PULLED OUT INTO TRAFFIC. W/IN A FEW HUNDRED YARDS I STOPPED AT A LIGHT AND WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE IT WAS AS IF THE TRUCK WAS GOING TO DIE. ON THE MORNING OF 3/28 THE TRUCK SURGED AND WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO TURN THE TRUCK IT DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE NEXT DAY IT DIED ON THE WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY KEPT THE TRUCK FOR ABOUT A WEEK, STATED THEY HOOKED IT UP TO THE COMPUTER AND IT SHOWED NOTHING WAS WRONG,DROVE IT FOR ABOUT 30 MILES DURING THAT TIME W/OUT INCIDENT. NOW IT HAS DIED AGAIN WHILE I WAS PULLING INTO MY GARAGE. I AM TIRED OF BEING TOLD THERE IS NOTHING WRONG. A VEHICLE SHOULD NOT JUST DIE WHILE YOU ARE GOING DOWN A ROAD W/OUT ANY WARNING. 2004 DODGE DURANGO 4X4, AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, AT SLOW SPEEDS 10 MPH ACCELERATION HAS A LAG UNTIL 2,000 RPM AT WHICH POINT THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGES AND THE VEHICLE LURCHES FORWARD RAPIDLY.
NOT EVEN MAKING MY FIRST PAYMENT YET, MY CAR HAS SEEN THE SHOP SEVERAL TIMES AND STILL NOT FIXED. MY BRAKE LINE WAS "CROSS TREADED" IN THE ASSEMBLY LINE. THERE FOR I HAD VERY LITTLE BRAKE FLUID LEFT (ONLY 2 WEEKS AFTER BUYING THE CAR) AND THE FLUID LEAKED ON MY RIM WHICH NOW HAS TO BE REPLACED BUT IS ON BACK ORDER TILL "WHENEVER". I WAS WITH OUT MY NEW CAR FOR OVER A WEEK FOR THIS PROBLEM. THEN I HAVE TO GET THE BUMPER REPLACED DUE TO FADING WHICH THE SERVICE DEPT SAYS HAS HAPPENED TO SEVERAL DURANGO'S AND PT CRUISERS. THIS WILL BE A 2-3 DAY PROCESS ONCE CHRYSLER FIGURES OUT HOW THEY ARE GOING TO REPAIR SINCE THEY HAVE STOPPED REPLACING. (THIS WILL BE MORE TIME WITH OUT MY NEW CAR.) THEN IT WAS IN THE SHOP BECAUSE THE RADIATOR CAP WAS NOT PUT ON CORRECTLY DURING ASSEMBLY AND IT LOOSENED. ALL THE COOLENT LEAKED AND CAUSED THE CAR TO OVERHEAT. LAST BUT NOT LEAST THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND THEY SAID THAT THEY HAVE TO REPLACE THE IMPACT SENSOR SWITCH...WHICH YOU GUESSED IT... IS ON BACKORDER. THIS MIGHT OR MIGHT NOT BE THE PROBLEM BUT THEY CAN'T GO ANY FURTHER UNTIL THIS IS CHANGED OUT. SO ONCE AGAIN I WILL BE WITH OUT MY CAR. I HAVE TALKED TO ANOTHER SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND THEY WARNED ME THAT I SHOULDN'T BE DRIVING THIS CAR BECAUSE WITH OUT THE IMPACT SENSOR SWITCH, THE AIRBAGS WON'T DEPLOY ON IMACT. THIS CAR HAS BEEN TOO MUCH TROUBLE AND NOT WORTH THE HASSLE.THIS IS MY FIRST DODGE AND I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND BUYING ONE. I UNDERSTAND THAT SOMETIMES THERE ARE JUST BAD APPLES IN THE BUNCH, BUT CHRYSLER AND THE DEALERSHIP HASN'T MADE EFFORTS TO FIX PROBLEMS. I JUST GET THE TYPICAL RUN AROUND.

THE CONTACT WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF THE MECHANICAL FAILURE. ALSO, THE CONTACT DID NOT RECEIVE NHTSA RECALLS O4V0120000 CONCERNING VEHICLE SPEED CABLES; O3V528000 CONCERNING ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WIRING , AND O4V578000 REGARDING BATTERY CABLES. FIRST THE HORN STARTED GOING OFF ALL BY ITS SELF AND THEY SAID THAT HAPPENS EVERY SO OFTEN. IT COULD BE ELECTRICAL THEY SAID AND TRIED TO FIX IT. I GOT MY NEW DURANGO BACK AND THEN IT OVER HEATED. I WAS ON I-95 WHEN THEN IT OVER HEATED. IT WAS TOWED. THEY SAID IT WAS THE ELECTRICAL PROBLUM WITH THE HORN AND THEY COULDNT GET IT TO OVERHEAT. MABEY IT WAS A GLITCH IN THE SYSTEM. THEY SAID. THEN IT WOULDNT CRANK , THREE TIMES THIS HAPPEND. THEY HAD TO TOW IT. COSTING THEM A LITTLE MONEY. WELL ACCUALY IT COST DODGE WELL OVER 350.00 PLUS COST OF TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHATS WRONG. AND KEEPING A VEHICLE I PAY 556.00 PER MO. FOR. I KNOW THIS MAY BE A SMALL PROBLUM TO YOU BUT SOMEONE SAID SOMETHING ABOUT A LEMON LAW SHOULD BE IN AFECT.
