ON NOV. 16, 2011 OUR 2007 DODGE DURANGO CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING HOME ON I-95. INITIALLY THE DRIVER SEAT BECAME EXTREMELY HOT AND 15-20 MINUTES LATER THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. WE MADE SURE THAT ALL OF THE MAINTENANCE WAS KEPT UP-TO-DATE ON THE VEHICLE AND THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNS. ONCE MY HUSBAND EXITED THE ENTIRE VEHICLE WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. WE HAVE SEARCHED THE INTERNET FOR ANY RECALLS FOR 2007 DODGE DURANGO AND AT THIS PRESENT TIME THERE ARE NONE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER REFUELING THE VEHICLE, GASOLINE WOULD SPEW OUT FROM THE FILLER NECK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 66,000.
THE WIPER/TURN SIGNAL MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH FAILED NOT ALLOWING WIPERS TO TURN ON DURING A RAIN STORM AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE TURN SIGNAL NOW ALSO DOESNT WORK PROPERLY. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM ACCORDING TO MY GOOGLE SEARCHES ON THIS. *TT
WHILE FILLING UP THE FUEL TANK AND RELYING ON THE AUTOMATIC SHUT OFF, GAS WILL SPEW OUT COVERING THE PERSON STANDING THERE, THE GROUND, AND THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. EVEN WHEN APPROXIMATING THE TANK BEING FULL AND TRYING TO CONTROL THE FLOW BY HAND, GASOLINE WILL OVERFLOW JUST NOT WITH THE SAME FORCE. BESIDES THE ANNOYANCE OF BEING COVERED IN AND SMELLING LIKE GASOLINE, THIS DEFECT POSES MAJOR SAFETY RISKS. MAN UP DODGE AND HELP US GET THIS FIXED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT FUEL SPILLED FROM THE FUEL TANK WHEN FILLED TO CAPACITY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT THE CHECK VALVE IN THE TANK WAS BROKEN AND CAUSING FUEL TO SPILL. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 33,000.
I JUST PURCHASED A USED DODGE DURANGO WITH 28,900 MILES ON IT. I DISCOVERED BEGINNING THE DAY I BOUGHT IT THAT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PUT GASOLINE INTO THE DURANGO WITHOUT IT DUMPING OUT APPROXIMATELY A LARGE AMOUNT AFTER THE HOSE SHUTS OFF. IT DOES NOT SEEM TO MATTER IF IT IS AN ATTEMPT TO FILL THE TANK OR JUST TO ADD ANY AMOUNT OF GASOLINE TO THE VEHICLE. IT ALWAYS DOES IT ABOUT 1 OR 2 SECONDS AFTER THE PUMP CLICKS OFF. THE GASOLINE GOES DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND THERE IS ALWAYS A LARGE PUDDLE ON THE GROUND UNDER THE VEHICLE. I AM AFRAID THAT SOMEDAY IT WILL CATCH ON FIRE DUE TO THE EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF FUEL LOSS. THE IS ALSO ALWAYS A GASOLINE SMELL INSIDE THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AFTER FILLING THE TANK. I HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE AND ALSO REPORTED TO THE NTSB REGARDING THIS ISSUE. WHY IS THERE NOT A RECALL? *TR
WHEN FUELING MY DURANGO, THE GAS PUMP WILL KICK OFF BUT A SHORT TIME LATER GAS WILL SPILL/SPRAY OUT OF THE FILLER NECK. I HAVE TRIED VARIOUS GAS PUMPS AND PUMP RATES ALL RESULTING IN THE SAME ACTIONS, USUALLY A GAS SOAKED SLEEVE, GAS RUNNING DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE, AND A PUDDLE ON THE GROUND. IT IS TO THE POINT MY WIFE IS SCARED TO FUEL OUR DURANGO. I HAVE CALLED THE DODGE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SEEM TO NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT SUCH PROBLEMS. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO TAKE NOTE OF THIS AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT BEFORE IT RESULTS IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT OR DEATH. *TR
WHEN FILLING UP THE GAS TANK EXTRA GASOLINE IS SPIT OUT OF THE TANK WHICH IS A FIRE ISSUE FOR THE GAS STATION. IF WE ARE FILLING THE GAS TANK, WHEN THE PUMP AUTOMATICALLY STOPS GAS POURS BACK OUT OF THE TANK. ALSO THE GAS CAP LIGHT CAME ON RECENTLY & THE GAS CAP WAS REPLACED BUT LIGHT CAME BACK ON. I BELIEVE THIS WOULD BE THE SAME RECALL AS THE 2005 DODGE DURANGO FUEL SYSTEM GASOLINE STORAGE TANK ASSEMBLY. WE ARE TAKING THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER IN LITTLE FALLS, NJ ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 26, 2011 FOR THE REPAIRS TO BE MADE. IF YOU SEARCH THE INTERNET YOU WILL FIND OTHER DODGE DURANGOS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. WHEN REMOVING THE NOZZLE AFTER FILLING THE GAS TANK TO FULL, QUITE A BIT OF FUEL SPLASHES OUT OF THE TANK. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES, NEARLY EVERY TIME I HAVE FILLED UP THE CAR. *TR
THE WINDSHIELD WIPER WILL NOT TURN ON AT ALL. SOMETIMES THE WIPERS WILL QUIT WHEN DRIVING, THE MECHANISM NEEDS TO BE WIGGLED AND SOMETIMES IT WILL COME ON SOMETIMES NOT. ALOT OF TIMES IF YOU PUSH THE WASH WIPER BUTTON THE WIPERS WILL COME IF THE KNOB IS TURNED TO THE ON POSITION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE TIE ROD DETACHED FROM THE STEERING KNUCKLE. THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS BEFORE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 42,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE DURANGO 4X4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. THE CONTACT DROVE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND NOTICED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE WHEEL WAS POINTNG OUTWARD, AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO A LOOSE TIE ROD. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. THERE WAS A RECALL POSSIBLY RELATED TO THE FAILURE UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 06V386000 (STEERING); AND THE CONTACT PLANNED TO NOTIFY THE DEALER TO VERIFY WHETHER THE VIN WAS INCLUDED. IN ADDITION, WHENEVER REFUELING, A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF FUEL WOULD SPRAY OUT OF THE FILLER NECK. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
CONSTANT PROBLEMS WITH TURN SIGNALS FAILING TO WORK PROPERLY. SOMETIMES THEY WILL BLINK FOR A SECOND OR TWO AND OTHER TIMES THEY WILL NOT WORK AT ALL OR EVEN BLINK IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. THIS IS A CONSIDERABLE HIGHWAY SAFETY HAZARD AND COULD LEAD TO A SEVERE TRAFFIC CRASH. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING INCONSISTENTLY OVER THE PAST YEAR OR SO. THERE HAVE ALSO BEEN NUMEROUS INSTANCES WHEN THE POWER WINDOWS WOULD NOT WORK PROPERLY AND ALSO WHEN YOU WOULD TRY TO USE THE HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS IT WOULD CAUSE THE WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID TO ACTIVATE AND NOT DIM OR ENGAGE THE HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS. *TT
THE FUEL TANK FILLER TUBE INLET CHECK VALVE DOES NOT FULLY CLOSE AT THE END OF REFUELING. IT ALLOWS SOME FUEL TO ESCAPE FROM THE VEHICLE FILLER NECK. NOW THE GAS CAP LIGHT MESSAGE STAYS ON AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYS ON. THIS WAS A RECALL FOR THE 2005 DURANGO MINE IS A 2007 IS THIS RECALL STILL ACTIVE FOR MY VEHICLE?
MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS WILL INTERMITTENTLY NOT TURN ON, OR GO THE SPEED WHICH I HAVE SELECTED. MY DURANGO IS ONLY A 2007 AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY MECHANICS AT 3 DIFFERENT GARAGES THERE IS NO WAY MY VEHICLE IS OLD ENOUGH TO WARRANT THIS TYPE OF REPLACEMENT. IF I TURN THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL ON AND COMPLETE A TURN THAT SWITCHES THE TURN SIGNAL OFF THAT IS THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE WIPERS TO STAY ON. THEY ALSO WORK FOR THE WINDSHIELD WIPER CLEANING BUT TURN BACK OFF ONCE THAT PROCESS IS COMPLETE. WE HAD TO DRIVE 300 MILES IN A BAD RAINSTORM AS WE WERE TRAVELING WHEN THIS FIRST OCCURRED. NOW THEY WORK FOR THE MOST PART, BUT OCCASIONALLY THEY WON'T WORK SO THIS IS DEFINITELY SOME KIND OF ISSUE THAT DODGE NEEDS TO FIX. THERE ARE POSTS ALL OVER THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY AN ISSUE WITH EITHER THE SWITCH OR THE WIRING SYSTEM. *TR
2007 DODGE DURANGO. WHEN REFUELING THE AUTO, FUEL SPEWS FROM THE TANK EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND FIRE HAZARD. THIS HAPPENS REGARDLESS OF THE FLOW OF GAS INTO THE TANK. PLEASE DO SOMETHING BEFORE A SERIOUS EVENT TAKES PLACE AND LIVES ARE LOST OR SERIOUS INJURY TAKES PLACE. *KB
WHEN WE FILL UP OUR 2007 DODGE DURANGO THE GAS WILL SPRAY OUT IN LARGE AMOUNTS AND HAD SPRAYED BOTH MYSELF AND MY WIFE. IT IS A MAJOR FIRE AND ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD. *TR
WHEN FUELING ONCE TANK IS FULL AND PUMP SHUTS OFF, A MODERATE AMOUNT OF GASOLINE WILL SPEW FROM THE FILLER NECK. EVEN IF YOU SLOW THE PUMP TO A VERY SLOW RATE BEFORE IT BECOMES COMPLETELY FULL YOU CAN HEAR THE AIR RELEASING FROM THE TANK AND WITHOUT WARNING IT STILL SPILLS. THIS HAS OCCURRED THE ENTIRE TIME I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE, AND EVEN WHILE UNDER WARRANTY DEALER STATED THEIR WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BESIDES INSIST I NOT FILL COMPLETELY UP. ANYWHERE FROM A FOOTPRINT SIZE PUDDLE TO A PUDDLE COVERING THE REAR AXLE LENGTH OF VEHICLE OCCURS. AFTER INSTALLING DUAL EXHAUST ON VEHICLE I AM VERY NERVOUS OF LETTING THIS CONTINUE AND RISK GASOLINE SPILLING ONTO HOT PIPE IGNITING A FIRE, LET ALONE ANY CLEARCOAT DAMAGE THAT MAY HAVE ALREADY BEEN DONE TO PAINT. LOTS OF COMPLAINTS HERE AS WELL AS ELSEWHERE ON NUMEROUS DODGE FORUMS. PLEASE ASSIST. *TR
FUEL OVERFLOWS FROM THE INLET WHEN FUELING THE VEHICLE. IF YOU ATTEMPT TO ACTUALLY FILL THE TANK (WHICH I ONLY GET 20 GALLONS INTO A 27 GALLON TANK EVEN WHEN THE LOW FUEL LIGHT COMES ON), THE FUEL WILL OVERFLOW OUT OF THE INLET AS SOON AS THE HANDLE CLICKS OFF. IT'S NOT A SMALL AMOUNT OF OVERFLOW EITHER, IT'S ENOUGH THAT THE FUEL ENDS UP DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND INTO A PUDDLE ON THE GROUND. THIS HAS CAUSED THE ONLY SURFACE RUST ON THE ENTIRE VEHICLE. *TR
FUEL TANK OVER FLOW, THANKS TO DODGE MY THREE YEAR OLD SON SPENT SIX HOURS IN THE EMERGENCY ROOM AND PATCHES OVER HIS EYES FOR OVER A WEEK AFTER BEING SPRAYED WITH GAS THAT SHOT OUT OF THE TANK ON FILL UP. I WILL BE ADVISING AN ATTORNEY NEXT MONDAY. *TR

MOST RECENTLY, THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION OR IDLE. THE FAILURE WOULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO LUNGE FORWARD ABNORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE THROTTLE BODY WAS CLEANED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,017 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 36,000.
FUEL SPILL OCCURS EVERY TIME TANK IS FILLED. WHEN PUMP SENSES TANK IS FULL, IT SHUTS OFF AND MOMENTS LATER FUEL SPOUTS OUT OF CAR FROM FILL TUBE. THIS OCCURS EVEN WHEN FILLING SLOWLY. CAR WAS PURCHASED IN 3/20/11; THIS IS ON ONGOING PROBLEM FROM DAY ONE. *TR
FUEL SPILL OCCURS EVERY TIME TANK IS FILLED. WHEN PUMP SENSES TANK IS FULL, IT SHUTS OFF AND MOMENTS LATER FUEL SPOUTS OUT OF CAR FROM FILL TUBE. THIS OCCURS EVEN WHEN FILLING SLOWLY. IN NEW YORK MOST STATIONS ARE SELF SERVICE AND REQUIRE YOU HOLD THE TRIGGER OF PUMP NOZZLE; ONE'S HAND (OR WORSE) IS FREQUENTLY SPRAYED WITH FUEL. CAR WAS PURCHASED IN 12/10; THIS IS ON ONGOING PROBLEM FROM DAY ONE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD SURGE ABNORMALLY WHEN COMING TO A STOP. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 1-5 MPH AND TURNING TO ENTER A PARKING SPACE, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ABNORMALLY. THE CONTACT ENGAGED THE BRAKES AND CRASHED INTO TWO POLES AND A CHAIN. SHE SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES TO THE NECK AND BACK AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL VIA AMBULANCE. THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED INCLUDING THE HOOD AND WINDSHIELD AND THE POWER STEERING ALSO BECAME INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL COLLISION CENTER WHERE SHE WAS AWAITING AN ASSESSMENT OF THE DAMAGES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 49,406.
MY VEHICLE HAS AROUND 52,000 MILES ON IT AND WAS FINE UNTIL ABOUT A WEEK AGO. MY WIFE WAS FUELING UP THE CAR AND WAS DOUSED WITH GAS ABOUT 5 SECONDS AFTER THE AUTOMATIC SHUT OFF ENGAGED ON THE FUEL PUMP. I THOUGHT IT WAS A FLUKE THING, BUT THEN IT HAPPEND AGAIN AND AGAIN. THE 2005 DURANGOS ARE UNDER A RECALL FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM, SO THEY OBVIOUSLY COMPLETELY IGNORED THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZZARD FOR HUMAN LIFE/ HEALTH AND THE ENVIRONMENT! *TR
TURN SIGNALS BEGAN MALFUNCTIONING, AND STILL ARE. WHEN APPLYING THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL, NOTHING COMES ON. WHEN APPLYING THE RIGHT TURN SIGNAL, THE LEFT COMES ON. THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS COME ON SPORADICALLY, AND WILL ONLY GO TO A MAXIMUM SPEED OF ABOUT 2 WIPES PER MINUTE WHEN THEY WORK AT ALL. BRIGHT LIGHTS WILL NOT COME ON AT ALL, AND WHEN I DEPRESS THE LEVER TO TURN THEM ON, THE WIPER FLUID SQUIRTS ONTO THE WINDSHIELD. THE DOOR LOCKS ALSO INTERMITTENTLY LOCK AND UNLOCK TEN OR FIFTEEN TIMES IN A ROW BY THEMSELVES AT RANDOM TIMES, BOTH IN IDLE AND WHILE IN DRIVE AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. *TR
WHEN FILLING MY 2007 DODGE DURANGO WITH GAS AT MANY STATIONS, THE NOZZLE SHUTS OFF BUT THEN ABOUT HALF A QUART OF GAS "BURPS" BACK OUT OF THE TANK DOWN THE SIDE OF THE TRUCK AND ONTO THE GROUND. *TR
WHEN FILLING THE TANK ON MY 2007 DURANGO 5.7L 4X4 THE AUTO FUEL SHUT OFF DOESN'T WORK RESULTING IN A MAJOR FUEL SPILL. THIS IS AN ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERN AS WELL AS A THERMAL EVENT HAZARD (FIRE HAZARD). HAPPENS AT ALL GAS STATIONS THAT I'VE USED IN THE LAST 5 FILL-UPS. I NOW HAVE TO TURN THE ELECTRICAL ON TO VIEW THE FUEL GAGE ON THE DASHBOARD AND STOP THE DELIVERY PUMP MANUALLY. *TR
MY 2007 DODGE DURANGO DOES NOT SHUT OFF WHEN FILLING IT WITH GAS. I JUST PURCHASED IT IN MAY 2010 AND EVERYTIME I GET GAS I HAVE TO VERY CAREFUL BECAUSE IT DOES NOT SHUT OFF AND BEGINS TO SPEW GAS. IT HAS HAPPENED AT MULTIPLE GAS STATIONS AND HAS HAPPENED TO FAMILY MEMBERS DRIVING MY VEHICLE. I AM CONCERNED THAT WITH THE AMOUNT OF GAS IT SPEWS THAT IT MAY SPARK A FIRE OR WORSE YET SOMEONE GET DOUSED WITH GASOLINE. IT IS QUITE A SPEW. EVEN WHEN I MANUALLY PUMP IT WILL STILL SPEW. IT IS VERY SCARY! THIS SHOULDN'T HAPPEN! *TR
I WILL BE DRIVING AND MY 4WD LOCK WILL ENGAGE WITHOUT ME TURNING IT ON CAUSING MY TIRES TO STICK TO THE ROAD. IT PREVENTS ME FROM TURNING MY STEERING WHEEL WITHOUT THE CAR ACTING LIKE IT IS GOING TIP OVER. IT SEEMS LIKE THE SAME PROBLEM THAT WAS EXPERIENCED WITH THE 2006 DODGE DURANGOS. *TR
AS WITH THE 2005 DURANGOS & THE MANY 2007 DURANGO COMPLAINTS, I TOO HAVE ISSUES WITH THE FUEL SPEWING OUT FROM THE FILLER NECK AFTER THE PUMP HAS SHUT OFF. THE AUTOMATIC SHUT OFF (FUEL INTAKE CHECK VALVE) IS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY & ALLOWS QUITE A BIT OF FUEL TO SHOOT OUT FROM THE VEHICLE. THIS IS NOT ONLY A SAFETY CONCERN, BUT IT HAS ALSO CAUSED THE PAINT ON MY VEHICLE TO BEGIN BUBBLING UP, WHICH WILL EVENTUALLY CAUSE A RUSTING ISSUE. I HAVE TO USE THE WINDSHIELD CLEANER BRUSH AT THE PUMP STATION TO WIPE THE EXCESS FUEL OFF MY VEHICLE TO PREVENT ANY FURTHER BUBBLING. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS REPORTED & A RECALL ISSUED. IT'S RIDICULOUS! *TR
1. THE LOUD NOISE OCCURS DURING TEMPS BELOW 50 DEGREES AND WILL CONTINUE DURING OPERATION. THE SOUND IS LIKE METAL RUBBING METAL AND IS VERY LOUD. THIS SOUND CAN BE HEARD WHEN OVER A SPEED BUMP, DIP IN THE ROAD, COMING OUT OF THE DRIVE WAY, AND NORMAL OPERATION WITHIN HIGH TEMPERATURE WHICH RANGES 0-50 DEGREES. THE SOUND IS FORWARD AND REAR OF THE VEHICLE BODY/FRAME AND SOUNDS LIKE THE FRAME IS BREAKING OR METAL MAY BE RUBBING. 2. WHEN FILLING MY 2007 DODGE DURANGO UP WITH GAS, THE GAS OVER FLOWS AND SHOOTS OUT OF THE FILLER INLET AFTER THE PUMP HAS SHUT OFF SPEWING GAS EVERYWHERE INCLUDING ON MY PERSON. MY DURANGO HAS 45,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS JUST STARTED DOING THIS THE PAST 1.5 MONTHS. THIS HAPPENS AT ALL PUMPS AND EVEN HAPPENS WHEN SHUTTING OFF THE PUMP BY HAND. *TR
WHEN FILLING THE FUEL TANK, AT THE COMPLETION OF FILLING THE PUMP AUTOMATICALLY SHUTS OFF AS NORMAL BUT ABOUT 1-2 SECONDS AFTER APPROXIMATELY 1-2 QUARTS OF FUEL COMES RUSHING OUT OF THE FILLER NECK. IF I AM LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE SELECTED A FUEL PUMP WITH A RUBBER "SHIELD", THE FUEL ONLY SPILLS ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE TRUCK AND THEN CREATES A SIZABLE PUDDLE ON THE GROUND. IF I USE A PUMP WITH NO "SHIELD", I USUALLY END UP WITH A SATURATED SLEEVE EVEN IF I TRY TO GENTLY FINISH FILLING THE TANK. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM CAUSING A FIRE AND INJURING NOT ONLY MYSELF AND MY FAMILY, BUT ANY OTHERS NEAR ME AT THE GAS STATION.
AT THE FINISH OF FUELING THE GAS TANK SPITS ABOUT A QUART OR TWO OF GAS, STRAIGHT OUT OF THE TANK. THIS JUST STARTED ABOUT 1 1/2 MONTHS AGO. THE VEHICLE HAS 65000 MILES, THEREFORE OUT OF WARRANTY. I'M THE ONLY OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE. I PURCHASED THE CAR NEW. THIS DIDN'T USE TO HAPPEN. AND THIS IS MY EXPENSE TO FIX??? THIS SEEMS VERY UNSAFE. GAS SPEWING EVERYWHERE. IN ADDITION TO THE GAS TANK I ALSO HAD TO HAVE THE "INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER" REPLACED. ALL GAUGES WENT CRAZY, NO TURN INDICATORS, ALL BEEPERS BEEPING, ALL GAUGE LIGHTS ON, COULDN'T TELL WHAT GEAR I WAS IN BECAUSE ALL GEAR LIGHTS LIT UP, NO WINDSHIELD WIPERS, NO FAN, HEATER OR DEFROST. TURNED THE CAR OFF AND LIGHTS AND GAUGES AND LIGHTS WERE STILL LIT UP! LIKE THE CAR WAS POSSESSED. I DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY CABLE AND THE CAR SEEMED TO RESET. ONLY LASTED 100 MILES BEFORE THE SAME SYMPTOMS RECURRED. TO THE SHOP THE CAR GOES... "INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER" OUT AT 62000 MILES. COST ABOUT $800...OUT OF WARRANTY BY 10000 MILES. NOW THE FUELING ISSUE. WOW! NOT GOOD. *TR

WHEN FILLING UP GAS TANK, A GOOD AMOUNT GAS SPILLS OUT AFTER PUMP SHUTS OFF. THERE WAS A RECALL ISSUED FOR 2005 DURANGO FOR THIS EXACT FAILURE, BUT THE RECALL DOES NOT COVER MY 2007 DURANGO. I HAVE READ OF MANY OTHER FAILURES FOR 2006-2008 DURANGOS ON THE INTERNET, SO DODGE HAS NOT FIXED THIS. *TR
WHEN ACTIVATING THE TURN SIGNAL TO THE LEFT, THE INDICATOR WILL COME ON AND WITHIN A FEW SECONDS, WILL START FLASHING TO THE RIGHT INSTEAD OF THE LEFT. AT TIMES, IT WILL JUMP BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN THE RIGHT AND LEFT INDICATORS, AND SOMETIMES NOT TURN ON AT ALL. AS OF 1-2-3-2011, THEY ARE TOTALLY INOPERATIVE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE DURANGO.THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED SEVERAL TIMES. THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC THAT WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE A FAILURE CODE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE STALLING COULD BE CAUSED BY WATER ENTERING THE ENGINE MANIFOLD ABNORMALLY. THE DEALER DID NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 62,000.

I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2007 DODGE DURANGO HAD IT BROUGHT UP ON 12/1/2010. THE TANK WAS EMPTY SO I WENT TO THE LOCAL GAS STATION TO FILL UP. LET IT SHUT OFF BY ITSELF WHEN FULL AND THERE WAS GAS SPILLING OUT OF THE TANK AFTER IT SHUT OFF. I ASSUMED IT WAS THE PUMP. SO FEW DAYS LATER HAD TO FILL AGAIN IT DID IT AGAIN DIFFERENT GAS STATION. THERE IS SOMETHING SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THIS TANK AND A REALLY BIG SAFETY CONCERN FOR FIRE OR IF YOU DON'T CLEAN THE GAS OFF THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE NEAR THE TANK RIGHT AWAY. I AM A MOTHER OF 2 SMALL CHILDREN AND THIS TERRIFIES ME. MY CAR HAS LESS THEN 36,000 MILES AND NOT EVEN A TRUE 3 YEARS OLD THIS SHOULD STILL BE CONSIDERED A FACTORY WARRANTY ISSUE OR DO THE RIGHT THING AND PUT AS A RECALL. NEXT I LOOKED ONLINE TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE WAS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND DISCOVERED MANY MANY PEOPLE ARE. 2005 THROUGH 2008 THAT I HAVE SEEN AND EVERYONE SAYS YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE FUEL TANK BECAUSE OF A DEFECTIVE VALVE. THERE WAS A RECALL ON 2005 MODELS AND I CAN SEE WHY DODGE WOULD WANT TO IGNORE THE PROBLEM ON THE REST BECAUSE IT WILL COST THEM MONEY BUT I CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY THE GOVERNMENT HAS NOT FORCED THEM TO DO A RECALL. THIS PROBLEM IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. WHAT OTHER VEHICLES DUMP GAS ON THE GROUND WHEN THEY ARE 3 YEARS OLD? NONE!
