TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR AND COMPUTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS AWARE OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V634000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 123,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V530000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AGAIN WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V634000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
THE VEHICLE STALLS WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING IT HAPPENS FREQUENTLY AND THERE IS NO FIX THAT HAS BEEN FOUND TO STOP THIS ISSUE. IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON STREETS AND THE HIGHWAY. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES.
MY VEHICLE PUSH TO START SYSTEM STICKS AND THE VEHICLE TAKES LONG ATTEMPTING TO START. MY VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING HAS GONE DEAD ON ME ALTHOUGH THE DASH IS STILL LITE RADIO PLAYING. THE STEERING WHEEL STIFFENS AND THE BRAKES GET HARD. I HAVE TO STRUGGLE TO PULL OVER AND STOP IN ORDER TO PLACE THE CAR BACK IN NEUTRAL OR PARK IN ORDER TO START IT AGAIN. IT HAS STALLED WHILE IN MOTION, WHILE SLOWING DOWN FOR A RED LIGHT, WHILE MAKING A TURN. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL NEAR MISSES OF OTHER CARS, CURBS, AND DITCHES. I USE THIS CAR EVERY DAY TO TRANSPORT MYSELF AND MY CHILDREN. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES, HAVE HAD THE TIPM BYPASS AND THE CAR STILL HARD STARTS AND STALLS DESPITE THE RECALLS. I AM TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS SITUATION THAT IS A DEFINITE HAZARD. MOST RECENT COMPLAINT, MY CAR HAS BE IDLING HIGH AND NOW FINALLY IT OVERHEAT AND THE WATER PUMP HAS TO BE REPLACED. I AM TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED.
ON AN INTERMITTENT, BUT REGULAR BASIS, THE VEHICLE (2011 DODGE DURANGO) STALLS WHEN SLOWING INTO A TURN OR APPROACHING A STOPLIGHT. ONCE THE VEHICLE STALLS, THE STEERING COLUMN LOCKS MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO TURN THE VEHICLE. THIS HAS RESULTED IN SEVERAL CLOSE CALLS WITH OTHER VEHICLES AND EVEN OBJECTS (CURBS, LIGHT POLES, ETC.) I USE THIS VEHICLE TO TRANSPORT MY CHILDREN ON A DAILY BASIS AND AM CONCERNED FOR THEIR SAFETY AS WELL AS MY OWN. WE HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT IT WAS PURCHASED FROM (ARRIGO DODGE, CHRYSLER, JEEP RAM) IN WEST PALM BEACH FL. EIGHT (8) TIMES FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM. THEY HAVE REPLACED VARIOUS PARTS, AND EVEN BEEN ABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM ONCE, HOWEVER, EVERY TIME WE GET THE VEHICLE BACK, WITHIN A FEW DAYS OR WEEKS IT STALLS AGAIN. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL RECALLS ON THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE, INCLUDING ONE FOR THE FUEL PUMP RELAY WITHIN THE TIPM-7 AND ONE FOR THE 160 AMP ALTERNATOR, BOTH OF WHICH CAN CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO STALL. I HAVE INCLUDED AS MANY OF THE APPLICABLE SERVICE REPORTS AS THE UPLOAD WILL ALLOW. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THEY CONTACTED CHRYSLER AT ONE POINT, BUT DID NOT RECEIVE ANY ANSWERS AS TO HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 DODGE DURANGO. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, IT FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,000.
WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY I A CHECK BATTERY LIGHT APPEARED ON MY DASH, I PLANNED ON CHECKING INTO IT AT THE UPCOMING GAS STATION WHICH WAS ABOUT 3 MILES AWAY, AS I APPROACHED THE OFFRAMP TO THE GAS STATION ALL KINDS OF CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS AND ABS AND YOU NAME IT STARTED SHOWING IN MY DASH FOLLOWED BY THE WIPERS AND NEXT THING YOU KNOW THE CAR DIES OUT. LUCKY FOR ME THERE WAS NO VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME BECAUSE I COULD NOT STEER OR BRAKE BECAUSE IT WAS VERY HARD OR LOCKED, I MANAGED TO PULL OVER JUST BEFORE THE GAS STATION AND SENSED THE SMELL OF BURNED WIRE, I NOTICED I WAS NOT COMPLETELY OFF THE ROAD SO I TRIED PUTTING VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL BUT IT WAS LOCKED IN PARK, ALSO MY KEY WAS STUCK IN THE IGNITION. LOCAL MECHANIC CHANGED THE BATTERY FIRST AND STILL HAD THE CHECK BATTERY LIGHT ON SO HE RECCOMENDED A NEW ALTERNATOR AS WELL WHICH I BOUGHT IMMEDIATELY, 900.00 LATER HERE I SIT WITH NEW ALTERNATOR AND BATERRY BUT STILL THE SAME PROBLEM WITH VEHICLE STALLING AND CHECK BATTERY LIGHT ON. DEALER SAYS MY VEHICLE IS NOT IN THE P60 RECALL EVEN THOUGH I HAVE/HAD THE SAME 160 AMP ALTERNATOR AS THE RECALLED VEHICLES. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE WHICH CAN BECOME DEADLY IF NOT FIXED ASAP. IM SURE OF ONE THING, NEVER IN MY LIFE WILL ME OR MY FAMILY BUY A DODGE AGAIN.
UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE IN A PARKING LOT, A DEAD SHORT PERMANENTLY DAMAGED THE ALTERNATOR AND THE ALTERNATOR PERMANENTLY DAMAGED THE BATTERY. THIS ISSUE WAS SUDDEN AND WITHOUT WARNING. THE CAR WAS RUNNING FINE PRIOR TO THIS OCCURRENCE. THE SHORT WAS SERIOUS ENOUGH TO CAUSE A FIRE, ALTHOUGH A FIRE DID NOT OCCUR. I WAS TOLD THIS WAS A FORTUNATE BIT OF LUCK. I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE IN OTHER VEHICLES IN THE SAME MODEL YEAR, HOWEVER MY VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED AT THIS TIME. I HAD TO PAY A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF MONEY FOR THIS ISSUE (DIAGNOSIS, PARTS AND LABOR).
MOMENTARY LOSS OF ALL ELECTRICAL POWER UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITION AT ALL SPEEDS. LOSS OF ALL DASH LIGHTS AND GAUGES. TOTAL LOSS OF ENGINE POWER MOMENTARILY. THIS CAUSES A MOMENTARY STALL. DOES NOT LAST LONG ENOUGH TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF AS THE POWER IS IMMEDIATELY RESTORED. HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES WEEKLY, ALWAYS WHILE IN MOTION, HAS NOT OCCURRED WHILE VEHICLE IS STOPPED AT IDLE. POSSIBLE IGNITION OR TIPM FAULT.
ALTERNATOR FAILED OVER HEATING ELECTRICAL WIRING AND CAUSING BATTERY AND COMPUTER CHIP FAILURE. THE PROBLEM OCCURRED ON THE ROAD BUT I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO A PARKING LOT. I DID SMELL SMOKE AND FELT HEAT BUT THERE WAS NO IGNITION OF FIRE. MY CAR WAS COMPLETELY DISABLED. NO ELECTRICAL ACTIVITY. THE SYMPTOMS ARE THE SAME AS RECALL #14V634000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE BATTERY WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AS A BURNING ODOR EMITTED INSIDE THE VEHICLE. AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF BLACK SMOKE EMITTED FROM UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THERE WERE NO FLAMES PRESENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V634000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE RECALL REMEDY PART WAS UNAVAILABLE TO PERFORM THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,694.

THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE ALTERNATOR AND FUSE BOX WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL SHORTAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.

STERLING DODGE (5504 I-49 FRONTAGE RD, OPELOUSAS, LA 70570, (337) 942-1241) WAS CONTACTED, BUT WAS UNABLE TO REMEDY THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE LIMITED QUANTITIES OF PARTS BEING SUPPLIED TO THE DEALER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON AND OFF. THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO ACCELERATE AND, WHEN MAKING LEFT AND RIGHT TURNS, THE STEERING SEIZED. THE CONTACT COASTED OVER TO A MAIN ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,045.
THE ALTERNATOR SHORTED OUT WITH 48000 MILES ON IT. THE LIGHT CAME ON AND MY WIFE DROVE IT 1.5 MILES HOME. ALTERNATOR WAS SMOKING AND COMPLETELY SHORTED OUT/FRIED. WHILE SHE MANAGED TO GET IT HOME THIS COULD HAVE EASILY CREATED AN ACCIDENT HAD SHE DRIVEN IT LONGER. I AM SHOCKED THAT A FAILURE LIKE THIS CAN HAPPEN ON A CAR IN SUCH A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME.
OUR DURANGO HAS HAD MAJOR ISSUES SINCE THE DAY WE BOUGHT IT. WE HAVE NEARLY DIED IN THREE OCCASSIONS DUE TO MALFUNCTIONING OF THE VEHICLE FOR ISSUES THE MANUFACTURER WAS WELL AWARE OF AND DID NOT ADDRESS IN A TIMELY FASHION. WE HAVE SPENT THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS ON REPAIRS INCLUDING REPLACING THE TIPM, ALTENATOR (TWICE), BRAKE BOOSTER, #2 ENGINE CYLINDER, TRANSMISSION INTERCOOLER, AND DOZENS OF OTHER ISSUES. WE HAVE HAD TO DO THIS OUT OF POCKET BECAUSE DODGE WONT ASSIST UNTIL THERE IS A RECALL MADE AND THEN FORCES US TO DRIVE A DANGEROUS VEHICLE BECAUSE THERE ARE NOT PARTS FOR THE RECALL FOR SEVERAL MONTHS IF NOT A YEAR. THIS RECENT ISSUE THE CAR KEPT BUCKING AND KICKING DRIVE DRIVING. VERY CLEARLY THERE ARE TRANSMISSION ISSUES. IN ALL THE FORUMS, IT IS A KNOWN DEFECT AND YET AGAIN DODGE DOES NOTHING ABOUT IT. THERE IS CLEAR EVIDENCE DODGE KNEW AND CONTINUES TO KNOW OF MANY FAULTY LEAKING SEALS AND MISSING SEALS FOR THE TRANSMISSION AND AC CONDENSER, YET WILL NOT COVER THEM. WHEN WE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALERSHIP BC IT WAS LEAKING FLUIDS AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS BUCKING AND KICKING. WHEN THEY EVALUATED IT, THEY FOUND A BAD ALTERNATOR ASSEMBLY AND A POWER STEERING LEAK PLUS A TRANSMISSION LEAK. (SEE ATTACHED INVOICE). SOME WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY (AS WE PREVIOUSLY PAID OUT OF POCKET OURSELVES TO REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR SO THERE WAS A WARRANTY ON IT) AND THE REST WAS NOT. AGAIN WE HAD TO FORK OUT MORE MONEY FOR KNOWN DEFECT ISSUES OF DODGE. THE BUCKING AND KICKING OCCURRED RANDOMLY WITHOUT NOTICE AS WE DROVE DOWN THE ROAD. THERE WERE ALSO ELECTRICAL OUTAGES RANDOMLY AS WELL AND PERIODS OF UNCONTROLLABLE ACCELERATION WITH NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. ITS IMPORTANT TO NOTE: WE HAD NO ISSUES WITH THE AC AT ALL. IT WOULD RUN COLD AND ONLY HAVE ISSUES WHEN RANDOM ELECTRICAL OUTAGES OCCURRED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LEFT CYLINDER AND TIMING CHAIN GASKET NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. A FEW MONTHS LATER, WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE BATTERY WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. AFTER SHIFTING THE VEHICLE INTO PARK, THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE ALTERNATOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS AWARE OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V634000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM), BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000.

2 DIFFERENT EPISODES OF UNEXPECTED VEHICLE SHUTDOWN/STALLING. FIRST EVENT WAS IN THE PROCESS OF A LEFT HAND TURN. VEHICLE SHUT DOWN PARTWAY THROUGH THE TURN. LOST ALL POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. STRUGGLED TO KEEP THE VEHICLE OUT OF THE DITCH. PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK, AND IT RESTARTED IMMEDIATELY, AND CONTINUED HOME UNEVENTFULLY. APPROXIMATELY 2 MONTHS LATER, THE VEHICLE AGAIN UNEXPECTEDLY STALLED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, AND I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE, AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. AGAIN, IT RESTARTED UNEVENTFULLY AND I CONTINUED TO WORK. THE VEHICLE APPEARS TO BE WORKING NORMALLY OTHERWISE. ACCELERATION AND FUEL ECONOMY ARE NORMAL, AND THERE ARE NO EPISODES OF HESITATION/STUTTERING/MISSING. THERE WAS NO WARNING OF THE STALL EITHER TIME. BOTH EPISODES WERE APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES INTO MY DRIVE, AND THE VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE BEEN MOSTLY WARMED UP EACH TIME, BUT PERHAPS NOT ALL THE WAY. THE "EXACT" MOMENT OF THE STALL SEEMS TO COINCIDE WITH REMOVING MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE, ONCE TO TURN AND ONCE TO ACCELERATE. THE DURANGO WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER THAT SAME DAY EACH TIME, AND THERE WERE NO SIGNIFICANT ERROR CODES.

MY 2011 DODGE DURANGO CAUGHT FIRE. THE ROOF ABOVE THE PASSENGER VISOR BURN SIGNIFICANTLY. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR THE PASSENGER SAID SHE SMELLED AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. BOTH OF US HAVE RETIRED FROM THE ELECTRONICS FIELD. NOT REALIZING THE SEVERITY OF THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM, I PARKED THE CAR. WE WENT AWAY FROM THE CAR FOR ABOUT TEN MINUTES. UPON RETURNING WE OPEN THE DOOR AND ENTERED THE CAR. THE CAR FILLED WITH SMOKE. WE COULD HEAR THE FIRE BURNING IN THE ROOF. WE BOTH JUMPED OUT. WE FLAGGED DOWN SOME PARKING ATTENDANTS. WE OPENED THE HOOD TO GET TO THE BATTERY OR FUSE BOX. I MONITORED THE LIGHT IN THE VANITY MIRRORS AND INTERIOR LIGHTS, WHILE THE ATTENDANTS WITH BOOK MANUAL IN HAND, PULLED FUSES UNTIL THE LIGHTS WENT OUT AND THE FIRE SLOWED TO A STOP. ONE NOTE IN SPITE OF THE FIRE BURNING OUR HANDICAP STICKER ON THE ROOF SIDE, BLISTERING THE PAINT ON THE OUTSIDE ROOF, AND THE INTERIOR ROOF ON FIRE ON NO FUSES BLEW! MY EXPERIENCE IS TELLING ME THAT THE WIRES INVOLVED HAVE BEEN DRAWING TO MUCH CURRENT FOR MANY YEARS. THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE WIRES INVOLVED, CHANGED WITH HEAT AND TIME. FINALLY THE WIRES GOT TO RESISTIVE AND HEATED TO THE POINT OF IGNITION.
FRONT BRAKES NOT CATCHING
AFTER HAVING THE CAMPAIGN COMPLETED TO REMOVE THE FUEL PUMP RELAY FROM THE TIPM, MY FOG LIGHTS AND HEADLIGHTS BEGAN OPERATING SPORADICALLY, THEN EVENTUALLY AFTER A FEW WEEKS STOPPED WORKING. IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY, THIS HAPPENED AT DUSK, WHEN I WAS DRIVING AND THE HEADLIGHTS TRIED TO COME ON AUTOMATICALLY. I TRIED TO REPLACE THE BULBS, BUT THAT DIDN'T HELP. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE HEADLIGHTS AND FOG LIGHTS WEREN'T RECEIVING POWER FROM THE TIPM, AND THAT IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AT ABOUT $1,200 COST. THIS PROBABLY IS SO OBVIOUSLY RELATED TO THE PREVIOUS CAMPAIGN, BUT I CANNOT GET THE DEALERSHIP TO PARTICIPATE IN THE COST. PLEASE HELP!
I PURCHASED MY 2011 DODGE DUANGO CITADEL IN AUGUST 2015. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, BOTH WEEKS AND MONTHS APART, MY HAZARD LIGHTS WILL RANDOMLY CUT OFF AND ON JUST LONG ENOUGH FOR YOU TO THINK YOU'RE CRAZY AND SECOND GUESS IF YOU SAW THEM. I EVENTUALLY HAD TO TAKE MY CAR TO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE CAR WAS NOT TURNING OVER AT THE START AND BECAME INOPERABLE. ONCE AT THE DEALERSHIP, THE MANAGER DETERMINED THAT ALTHOUGH MY CAR REPORTED TO HAVE ALREADY HAD THE TIPM REPLACED, IT WAS ACTUALLY NOT. THE ORIGINAL TIPM WAS STILL IN THE CAR, MEANING THAT THE CARFAX REPORTING THAT THE TIPM RECALL HAD BEEN EXECUTED WAS FALSE. AFTER MY TIPM WAS REPLACED, MY CAR OPERATED FINE UNTIL ONE DAY WHILEI WAS DRIVING WITH MY 2 YEAR OLD IN THE CAR. I WAS COMING UP ON A STOP SIGN, AND WHEN I WENT TO MAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN MY CAR STALLED. ALL OF THE LIGHTS WERE ON AND THE RADIO STILL FUNCTIONED, BUT I LOST COMPLETE POWER STEERING AND MY HAZARD LIGHTS WOULD NOT WORK WHEN I TRIED TO CUT THEM ON TO ALERT OTHER DRIVERS. I WAS ABLE TO PUT MY CAR IN PARK AND RESTART IT SUCCESSFULLY. I TOOK AROUND 3 WEEKS BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO MAKE AN APPT. FOR MY CAR TO BE LOOKED AT. DURING THIS TIME MY HAZARD LIGHTS SPORADICALLY CAME ON FROM TIME TO TIME, LASTING NO LONGER THAN A COUPLE OF SECONDS. MIGHT I MENTION THAT WHEN THE CAR STALLED MY FCW OFF LIGHT AND THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL SYMBOL CAME ON. AFTER A THOROUGH REVIEW AT THE DODGE DEALERSHIP, I WAS INFORMED THAT THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM DETECTED. I WAS TOLD THAT ALL THE CONNECTIONS WERE CHECKED AND THAT NO TROUBLE CODES WERE COMING UP WHEN RUNNING DIAGNOSTICS. I LEFT THE DEALERSIHP HOPING MY PROBLEM HAD BEEN A FLUKE. BOY WAS I WRONG! SINCE THEN, MY HAZARD LIGHTS HAVE STILL BEEN SPIRATICALLY GOING OFF AND HAS STALLED AGAIN, THIS TIME WHILE I WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN ONTO MY ROAD WITH MY 5 YEAR OLD IN THE CAR. THIS IS RIDICULOUS!

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.

WHILE DRIVING, THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK THE CAR TO PAPA'S DODGE IN NEW BRITAIN, CT. AFTER INVESTIGATING FOR 3 DAYS, THEY TOLD ME A WIRE IN THE A-PILLAR WAS COMPROMISED AND THAT CAR'S AIRBAG SYSTEM MAY NOT OPERATE IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. I WAS GIVEN TWO OPTIONS FOR REPAIR. THE FIRST WAS TO ORDER A NEW WIRING HARNESS THAT WOULD PUT THE REPAIR COST CLOSE TO $800. THE SECOND WAS TO HAVE THE WIRES SPLICED AND REPAIRED WITH NO GUARANTEE FOR $450. I OPTED FOR THE SECOND OPTION AND THE REPAIR HAS HELD UP NOW FOR A MONTH. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS DESIGN FLAW THROUGH NO FAULT OF MY OWN THAT COULD PUT MY FAMILY AND I AT RISK IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. THESE WIRES ARE COMPROMISED BY SIMPLY OPENING AND CLOSING THE DOOR TO ENTER THE VEHICLE. WHEN I CONTACTED CHRYSLER ABOUT REIMBURSING ME FOR THE REPAIR, I WAS GIVEN 4 FREE OIL CHANGES AND TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE THEY COULD DO.

DURING MY RESEARCH FOR DIAGNOSING THIS PROBLEM, I DISCOVERED DOZENS OF YOUTUBE VIDEOS OF OTHER PEOPLE SUFFERING THE SAME EXACT LEAK, IN THE SAME EXACT PLACE ON THE SAME EXACT MAKE AND MODEL OF A/C CONDENSER/TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER UNIT. IT IS OBVIOUS TO ME THERE IS A DESIGN FLAW WITH THIS PART.

PURCHASED NEW 2011 DODGE DURANGO IN 2011, I WASL DRIVING TO WORK THIS WEEK LOCALLY AND DEC 22,2015 BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. BEFORE THE LIGHT CAME ON I WAS DRIVING WITH KIDS IN THE CARD AND SMELLED BURNING IN CAR THOUGHT IT WAS EXHAUST FROM OUTSIDE TRAFFIC. ANOTHER DAY MY MOM WAS IN THE CAR WITH ME GOING SHOPPING AND SHE SAID SHE SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING. BATTERY WENT BECAUSE ALTERNATOR WAS BAD AS PER THE AUTO PLACE THE WIRES WERE BURNED ACCORDING TO AUTOPLACE ALTERNATOR BAD,I CONTACTED DODGE AND PROVIDED RECEIPT COPIES FROM THE AUTO PLACE THAT THE ALTERNATOR WAS BAD BUT THEY SAID BECAUSE WARRANTY WAS UP AT 36,000 MILES THEY WONT REIMBURSE ME AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BUT TO MAKE A COMPLAINT TO NHTSA. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED, I HAVE SEEN OVER 400 COMPLAINTS AND SAFETY ISSUES, HOW MANY PEOPLE DO THEY WANT TO GET INJURED BEFORE THEY RECALL? DEALERSHIP IS NO LONGER AROUND. IF DOES NOT GET RECALLED I WILL MAKE SURE TO TURN THIS ONE BACK AND NEVER PURCHASE FROM DODGE AGAIN AND WILL CONTACT THE MEDIA TO EXPOSE DODGE FOR PUTTING NOT RECALLING THIS ALTERNATOR AND PUTTING THE SAFETY OF FAMILIES IN HARMS WAY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 78,000.
I WAS DRIVING ON A MAJOR INTERSTATE (I-70) WHEN DASHBOARD LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING AND SIGNALS STARTED GOING OFF. SEAT BELT SIGNAL. AIRBAG SIGNAL. ABS LIGHT SIGNAL. I THEN LOST POWER STEERING. MY 12-YEAR OLD WAS WITH ME AND SCARED TO DEATH AS CARS WHIZZED BY AT 70 MPH. I LUCKILY WAS AT AN OFF RAMP AND TOOK IT AND MANAGED TO PULL OFF THE MAIN ROAD. CAR WOULD NOT TURNOVER WHEN I TRIED IT AGAIN. GOT TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP. BATTERY WAS REPLACED FIRST. THEN THEY HOOKED UP THE ALTERNATOR TO THE NEW BATTERY, AND THE ALTERNATOR DRAINED THE NEW BATTERY BY HALF IN A MATTER OF SECONDS. AND STARTED SMOKING PROFUSELY. DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR, WHICH WAS A 220 AMP. AFTER THE ALTERNATOR WAS REPLACED IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ALTERNATOR BLEW THE PCM, SO I HAD TO HAVE THE COMPUTER PCM REPLACED TOO. DEALER SAYS THERE MAY BE MORE ISSUES THAT ARISE FROM THE BAD ALTERNATOR. HE WAS SURPRISED MORE WIRES AND FUSES WEREN'T MELTED OR DAMAGED BECAUSE OF HOW BAD THE ALTERNATOR WAS. MY CAR WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL BECAUSE I HAVE A 220 AMP. BUT ALL OF THE SYMPTOMS THEY DESCRIBE FOR THE 160 AMP ALTERNATOR IS WHAT I EXPERIENCED WITH MY CAR. I AM JUST THANKFUL MY SON AND I, NOR ANYONE ELSE, WAS HURT OR KILLED IN THIS INCIDENT. ALL ALTERNATORS NO MATTER WHAT AMP NEED TO BE RECALLED. THIS IS A TRUE SAFETY HAZARD!

WHILE DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY TOWING A TRAILER, FAMILY IN TOW MY 2011 DODGE DURANGO BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AND THE SMELL OF SOMETHING BURNING WAS PRESENT. 2 MINUTES AFTER THE LIGHT CAME ON THE CAR DIED AND HAD TO PHYSICALLY NAVIGATE TO THE BREAKDOWN LANE WITH NO POWER WHAT SO EVER, IT WAS DARK AND CARS PASSING BY AT EXPRESSWAY SPEEDS, I HAD NO FLASHERS OR WARNING LIGHTS AT ALL. CAR WAS TOWED TO MY HOUSE.. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ALTERNATOR WAS FROZEN SOLID. I REPLACED IT WITH AN 160 AMP ALT. AND A NEW BATTERY BECAUSE IT WAS COOKED ALSO, THE BATTERY WAS HOT. AFTER REPLACING IT AND HOOKING UP BATTERY NEG FIRST THEN POSITIVE. IT STARTED AND AFTER A BRIEF FEW SECONDS WHERE EVERYTHING APPEARS TO BE NORMAL THE GREMLINS COME OUT, THE WIPERS ARE ON WITH NO CONTROL THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON, NO DISPLAY OR RADIO, CHECK ENG LIGHT IS ON AS IS A HOST OF OTHER THINGS AFTER INITIAL START UP. I CALLED THE DEALER, GAVE MY VIN THEY SAID THAT IT DIDN'T FALL UNDER ANY RECALL. AND A DIAGNOSTICS TEST HAD TO BE DONE @ $125.00 JUST TO SEE WHAT IS WRONG .. I FEEL IF IT WERE MY WIFE OR DAUGHTER IN THE CAR DRIVING THEY WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN STRONG ENOUGH TO STEER WITHOUT ANY POWER CERTAINLY A SAFETY COMPLAINT..... AND PEOPLE WONDER WHY THIS COUNTRY IS GOING TO HELL.
VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING APPROX. 30 MPH ON 2-WAY ROAD WHILE APPROACHING A TURN. ALL POWER STOPPED. WAS ABLE TO BRAKE AND TURN JUST ENOUGH TO AVOID COLLISION. AT STOP HAD TO PUT INTO PARK IN ORDER TO RESTART VEHICLE. COINCIDENTALLY, JUST REC'D INFO IN MAIL RE: TIPM SAFETY RECALL.
VEHICLE EXPERIENCED FAILURE OF ALL ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS, WHILE VEHICLE IN MOTION AT 45MPH. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND NOTICED MY RED "BATTERY INDICATOR" CAME ON. I ASSUMED IT WAS A WARNING THAT IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER APPROX 35 MILES, THE "DRIVER'S SEATBELT UNBUCKLED" WARNING CAME ON (IT WAS BUCKLED) AND THAT WARNING CYCLED OFF AND ON RAPIDLY, AND THEN OTHER WARNINGS TO CHECK THIS OR THAT APPEARED. WITHIN 30-60 SECONDS OF THAT BEGINNING, THE A/C SYSTEM SHUT DOWN, THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL OFF LIGHTS CAME ON, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS TURNED ON, AND THEN I LOST THE POWER STEERING AS WELL. I WAS ABLE TO STEER JUST ENOUGH TO ANGLE INTO A GAS STATION AND PUT IT INTO PARK. AT THAT POINT, NO ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS WERE FUNCTIONING, THE CAR COULD NOT BE PLACED BACK IN "NEUTRAL" TO MOVE IT FURTHER, AND WE WERE UNABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY FOB. THERE WAS A FAINT SMELL, LIKE BURNING RUBBER OR SIMILAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO OUR HOME, AS IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY (111K MILES) AND MY HUSBAND WISHED TO INVESTIGATE THE ISSUE AND REPAIR HIMSELF, IF POSSIBLE. HE REMOVED THE BATTERY, APPROXIMATELY 3 HOURS AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF, AND IT WAS STILL VERY HOT TO THE TOUCH. HE REPLACED THE BATTERY WITH A NEW ONE, BUT WITHIN 1/2 MILE DRIVE THE RED "BATTERY" INDICATOR CAME BACK ON AND WE IMMEDIATELY RETURNED HOME. UPON FURTHER TESTING WITH A VOLTMETER, HE DETERMINED THE ISSUE IS THE ALTERNATOR. WE BELIEVE THIS ALTERNATOR IS FAULTY AND DANGEROUS, HOWEVER OUR VIN NUMBER IS NOT LISTED UNDER THE CURRENT RECALL (14V634000) OF THE 160 AMP ALTERNATOR (I AM NOT SURE WHAT AMP ALTERNATOR I DID HAVE). MY HUSBAND HAS OPTED TO REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR HIMSELF, RATHER THAN PAY THE DEALERSHIP TO DO SO, BUT WE BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED FURTHER AS THE POSSIBILITY OF AN ACCIDENT SEEMS PRETTY HIGH IN THIS TYPE OF TOTAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE.

ALTERNATOR OVERHEATED CAUSING VEHICLE TO BE UNDRIVEABLE. THERE HAS BEEN SEVERAL RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE AND OTHERS BUT DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE ALTERNATOR RECALL ISN'T RELATED TO THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE. ALL THE SYMPTOMS ARE THE SAME THAT I VE READ FROM VEHICLES THAT ARE LISTED IN THIS RECALL.. OVERHEATING....

NINE MONTHS LATER, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. WITH SOME ASSISTANCE, THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HER LOCAL MECHANIC, HE SUGGESTED SHE TAKE IT TO THE DEALER, BECAUSE HE NOTICED IN THE COMPUTER THE FUEL PUMP RELAY FROM A RECALL, HAD NOT BEEN INSTALLED AND THAT COULD HAVE BEEN THE REASON WHY THE VEHICLE DID NOT START. THE CONSUMER INFORMED THE MECHANIC, IT WAS REPLACED IN FEBRUARY 15, 2015, WHICH WAS ONE OF THE THREE RECALLS PERFORMED. WHEN THE CONSUMER ARRIVED AT THE DEALER, THEY INFORMED THE CONSUMER, THE RECALL HAD NOT BEEN PERFORMED AND THE COMPUTER READ AS INCOMPLETE. THE PARTS FOR THE RECALL HAD TO BE ORDERED. *JB
I WENT TO START MY DURANGO THIS MORNING, STARTED UP, BUT AFTER 10 SECONDS IT SHUT DOWN. NOTHING ELECTRICAL WORKED. COULD NOT REMOVE MY KEY. DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY-RECONNECTED. NO GOOD. HAVING TOWED . I WANT TO SAY THAT NOTHING ELECTRICAL GOES ON NO MATTER WHAT I DO. THE POWER FAILURE WAS COMPLETE. I SHUDDER TO THINK IF THIS HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING, IT COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V634000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE CAR WILL CRANK BUT WILL NOT START. WHEN PRESSING THE PUSH TO START BUTTON IT TURNS OVER LIKE ITS GOING TO START BUT WILL NOT START. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR RECALL WORK IT HAS THE SAME RE-OCCURING ISSUE. DODGE SAYS THAT IT WAS FIXED BUT I NOW HAVE TO TAKE IT TO AN INDEPENDANT REPAIR SHOP TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL AND SHOULD BE PAID FOR AND FIXED BY MOPAR AND NOT THE CUSTOMER!
BOUGHT USED, HAD CAR LESS THAN 12 HOURS AND CAR STALLED WHILE DRIVING THRU 90 DEGREE CORNER ON HIGHWAY. LOSS OF POWER =NO POWER STEERING=ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. CALLED DEALER AND RETURNED NEXT DAY. THEY COMPLETED AN OUTSTANDING RECALL. PROBLEM NOT FIXED, HAD CAR BACK 7 DAYS, STALLED AGAIN TWICE IN ONE DAY. RETURNED TO DEALER, HAD IT A WEEK AND A HALF AND COULD NOT GET TO REPLICATE, CLEANED AND ADJUSTED FCW SENSOR. HAD CAR BACK 4 DAYS AND STALLED AGAIN. BACK TO SERVICE NOW FOR 2 WEEKS. MAKING PAYMENT ON CAR THAT I HAVEN'T HAD VERY FRUSTRATING. ALWAYS OCCURS GOING THRU CORNERS. VERY SCARY AND LUCKY NO TRAFFIC BEHIND ME SINCE I HAVE TO PUT IN PARK TO RESTART BY PUSH BUTTON IGNITION. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH DODGE AS I HAVE READ SEVERAL SIMILAR COMPLAINTS WITH NO RESOLUTION. THE DEALER IS NOW OFFERING TO TAKE CAR BACK AND TRADE FOR SOMETHING ELSE OR REFUND MY MONEY (LEMON LAW). I WAS IN LOVE WITH THIS CAR BUT DON'T KNOW THAT I WANT TO STICK WITH DODGE AFTER ALL OF THESE ISSUES. IT SEEMS THAT PEOPLE HAVE BEEN FORTUNATE NOT TO GET INTO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AND I HOPE THAT DODGE FIGURES THIS OUT BEFORE SOMEONE LOSES THEIR LIFE.

I OWN A 2011 DODGE DURANGO CITADEL WITH 53,000 MILES. WAS LEAVING MY HOUSE WHEN THE CAR STARTED MAKING A HIGH PITCHED WHINE, TURNED AROUND WENT BACK HOME, TURNED OFF THE CAR, COULD SMELL BURNING WHEN I GOT OUT OF THE CAR. OPENED THE HOOD AND THE ALTERNATOR (220 AMP) WAS SMOKING. IF I WOULD HAVE DRIVEN ANY LONGER THE ALTERNATOR MOST LIKELY WOULD HAVE CAUGHT FIRE AND COULD HAVE BURNT MY CAR TO THE GROUND.

RECALL NUMBER IS CHYSLER P60.IT IS ALREADY LISTED WITH THE NHTSA #14V634000..THE CONSEQUENCE ON YOUR WEBSITE SAYS IF THE ALTERNATOR FAILS,THE VEHICLE MAY STALL WITHOUT WARNING,INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. PLEASE INVESTIGATE AND FOLLOW UP,THIS TYPE OF FAILURE CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS IF DRIVER DOESN'T HAVE STRENGTH TO PHYSICALLY PRESS BRAKE PEDAL AND MANUALLY STEER OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SINCE ALL POWER HAS SHUT DOWN,AND POSSIBLY A CRASH.
