The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Durango. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V813000 (Electrical System) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
The active restraint in the driver’s side headrest deployed on it’s own without the vehicle being in a collision.
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the driver's side headrest deployed prematurely. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 95,820.
Vehicle was parked and engine off. The driver’s side head restraint deployed suddenly and almost hit me in the face. When I looked inside, the plastic hooks that hold a metal pin in place had broken off.
The headrest deployed while parked.
Took my vehicle to 1 dealership to get fixed they said they couldn’t do it because my vehicle was too old and wouldn’t be able to find parts. Took my vehicle to 2 mechanics shops that said they could fix it. Insisted I need a wire harness AFTER completing other work they thought would fix it. My daughter came to visit and I told her what was going on. She began to look through wire diagrams of the vehicle and noticed the TIPM being a common factor in the systems that were effected. She took my VIN and noticed a recall that has not been addressed. I bought this vehicle not long ago from an independent dealership… I don’t understand how it is legal that neither vehicle maintenance facility informed me of the open recall that has yet to be perform on this vehicle. I don’t understand how it is legal for a DEALERSHIP not to inform me that a recall has yet to be address with this vehicle. Yet for every-time I get maintenance the VIN is to be recorded… So as I’m trying to fix the vehicle mechanics enter this vin sees a recall that could very well be related to the recall and do nothing but charge me for parts and don’t even inform me? How is any of that legal!?
BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON ON FRIDAY NIGHT. STARTED MY CAR SATURDAY MORNING TO LEAVE AND STARTED SMELLING AN AWFUL SMELL SO SHUT MY CAR OFF. I REPLACED MY BATTERY IN THE SAME SPOT MY CAR SAT (IN MY DRIVEWAY). MY HOOD WAS UP STILL AND THE ALTERNATOR WAS BURNING AND SMOKING. I SHUT THE CAR OFF. ON SUNDAY REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR. THOUGHT ALL WAS WELL. DROVE THE CAR 5 MILES DOWN THE ROAD AND THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME BACK ON. I PULLED OVER AT THE LOCAL STORE AND MY CAR WOULD NOT START AGAIN. TOOK THE NEW ALTERNATOR OUT AND TOOK IT DOWN TO WHERE I BOUGHT IT TO HAVE IT TESTED. IT TESTED GOOD. I REPLACED IT ANYWAYS. PUT THAT ALTERNATOR IN. STARTED CAR. BATTERY STILL NOT CHARGING WITH NEW ALTERNATOR IN. LIGHTS, WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND ALL CODES STARTED GOING CRAZY IN THE CAR. THEN CAR DIED AGAIN. MONDAY MORNING, REPLACED THE BRAND NEW BATTERY AGAIN. NOT CHARGING. TOOK CAR TO SHOP FOR DIAGNOSIS. ECM/PCM BAD AND NEEDS REPLACED. ALTERNATOR FRIED THE ECM/PCM. WHILE DOING RESEARCH FOUND RECALL T36. MY VIN DOES NOT FALL UNDER THIS RECALL. MY CAR IS THE SAME YEARS AND MODEL BUT MY VIN IS NOT. MY ALTERNATOR ALMOST STARTED ON FIRE ( WHICH THEY DO NOT SMOKE AND SHORT THINGS OUT) TYPICALLY UNLESS THEY HAVE ISSUES WHICH OBVIOUSLY THE MANIFACTURE KNOWS ABOUT. I BELIEVE THAT MY CAR SHOULD FALL UNDER THIS RECALL AND DODGE AND THE RECALL COMPANY DOES NOT WANT TO HELP OR HELP ME UNDERSTAND WHY IT WOULDNT. I UNDERSTAND THEY ARE JUST DOING THEIR JOB. PLEASE HELP ME GET MY VIN ON THIS RECALL AS MY BATTERY, ALTERNATOR AND ECM/PCM ALL HAVE AND NEED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE ALTERNATOR SHORTING OUT AND WOULD HAVE STARTED ON FIRE IF MY HOOD WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN UP AND ME WALKING IN FRONT OF MY CAR AND SEEING THE SMOKE COMING FROM THE ALTERNATOR. DODGE IS WAITING FOR THE PART TO COME IN NOW TO REPLACE THE ECM. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME.
While driving down the road, my vehicle will completely shut off and shut down. Sometimes, emphasis on the sometimes, I can push my key into the ignition a bit more and it will start back up. I lose all function and control of my vehicle. My dash lights and exterior lights completely shut off. I can't steer my car and it comes to a complete stop within seconds because everything locks up. I have had this happen more times than I can even count. It has happened in the middle of me turning at an intersection and has almost caused a collision. I took it in for a diagnosis and was told that there was nothing wrong with my vehicle and they didn't know why it was doing that. There is absolutely no warning for when this will happen. The speed that it happens at varies as there is no rhyme or reason. It happened when my care had 95,000 miles and still to this day. It happens AT LEAST 4 times a week. I have read forums where other people with the same vehicle have had this happen to also.
I took my car to do the recall for the fuel pump relay it worked for about a week but same problem after that I took it to a dodge dealership and they charged me almost 900 bucks to do the recall
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while reversing into a parking space, the driver's side front seat headrest was deployed without impact. The contact sustained an injury to her head; however, no medical attention was received. No warning lights were illuminated. the recall that Dodge had in 2021 on the fuel relay switch pretty sure mine was no good when they put it into my car. At times it just turns over and over but will not start this started after the recall of the fuel relay switch that they done.
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while driving at 80 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. Additionally, the electric throttle control warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the fuel pump system was replaced; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 147,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Durango. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the battery warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the alternator was overcharging and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred 3 months later. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the alternator and the battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V634000 (Electrical System). The dealer referred the contact to the manufacturer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist, and they could not sell the parts for the recall repair. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Durango. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was restarted and operated normally. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The cause of the failure was not yet determined, and the vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure persisted and had become more frequent. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 100,000.
Vehicle has been having issues starting, acts like the fob is not in ignition. Vehicle has locked key in ignition and won't release it. Most dangerous concern is vehicle will completely shut down while driving, regardless of speed, and will not restart until completely stopped and put in park. Most recent occurrence was on interstate 80, 73 MPH on 12/23/2022. Everything except for hazards and radio shuts off and goes black. No warning lights, no codes tracked, just completely fails. Cannot use turn signal, brakes, power steering, nothing. Starting issues started about 12 months ago. Completely shutting down while driving started about 7 months ago. Issue is intermittent and does not show a pattern.
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Durango. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V813000 (Electrical System) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
Air did employ when it hit a deer at 35 mph , inside light go so dim on the radio and the front, you see the dashboard or the radio
My car sputtered put after it was in motion. Upon trying to restart, the vehicle continuously shook while trying to restart during this time, I could not stop the car from trying with the start/off button or keys. I had to wait for the car to “give up”. The car could not restart. This is unsafe because I could have been killed by other traveling vehicles to abrupt stopping or killed while trying to restart the vehicle. The vehicle could not be put into drive or reverse and I could not stop it from trying to restart once I pressed the button. This could’ve caused a collision with other vehicles. I had the vehicle towed to an auto shop. They told me that the fuel injector fuse went bad which caused the stalling because gas could no longer travel through the vehicle. I have attached towing receipt and will post report once it’s emailed.
The contact owned a 2013 Dodge Durango. The contact stated after his son had parked the vehicle in a parking lot and returned, the son had observed that the interior of the vehicle was obscured by smoke. The contact stated that when his son opened the driver's side door the vehicle ignited and blew the passenger side door open. The vehicle became engulfed in flames. The fire department and police were called to the scene. The contact stated that the fire had been extinguished with water. The contact said that the local fire chief had opened an investigation and the police had written a report. The vehicle was mounted onto a flatbed truck and taken to an impound lot. The contact stated that his insurance provider had declared the vehicle a total loss. The contact had attempted to notify the manufacturer of the failure, but could not get his phone call taken. The contact had researched online and related the failure to an open recall NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V813000 (Electrical System). The failure mileage was approximately 300,000.
Air bag light came on and car constantly loses power even though the battery installed is new direct from dealership. Recurring situation happens at least twice a week.
The oil filter cooling housing is leaking oil onto the engine. The housing is poorly designed. It’s plastic. So therefore it can evidently catch fire on the housing and cause combustion. It does make the car smell like it’s running hot or it smells like Burt motor oil. Everything we have read says his is a poor design by Chrysler bc they tried to cut corners. The newer models for the housing is aluminum that will better withstand the heat. I think this should be a recalled event.
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer for a Customer Satisfaction Campaign: V51 (Power Train) repair; however, the contact stated that after the vehicle was retrieved; while driving at an unknown speed, the transmission failed to shift as needed with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission solenoid failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a complaint was filed, but no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.
The vehicle was running, in "park", sitting in the driveway. My 17-year-old son was in the passenger seat. The headrest airbag deployed without ANY provocation of any kind. No movement in the vehicle, and it was not in motion, there was certainly no collision. The EXACT same thing happened on the driver's side 3 years ago, while I was sitting in the driver's seat, in the driveway, with the vehicle running and also in "park". The force of the deployment from either of these incidents was not enough to warrant an injury or a headache, but does elevate a safety concern until it is repaired. There were no warning lamps that came on prior to deployment, it was a complete surprise on both occasions.
When I am at a complete stop and then I go to take off as I accelerate the vehicle pulls hard to the right it doesn’t do this every time but it pulls hard to the right and if I don’t catch it in time I will end up in the side of another car or in a ditch this also occurs while I’m already driving at speed and I got to accelerate it will pull hard to the right but then again it does not happen every time
The contact owned a 2013 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while the vehicle was in the driveway parked unattended, it caught fire without warning. The contact's husband noticed the vehicle was on fire while approaching the resident. The fire department was on the scene and stated it was due to an electrical fire in the vanity mirror. There were no reported injuries, air bag deployment or a police report filed. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no additional assistance was provided. The insurance company deemed the vehicle a total loss. The failure mileage was approximately 123.000.
Not to sure but sometimes my suv cuts off with no warning when I’m driving or stopping I have no check engine lights on or anythjnf
I was driving about 40 miles per hour when the front passenger seat headrest exploded. The front cushion of the headrest just blew off. The seat no longer has a functional headrest. Now the airbag light is on.
Was parked at school when the headrest on the passenger front seat just deployed and hit my husband in the back of the head. It just popped, sounded like a shot went off.
Passenger active head restraint deployed unexpected and without collision.
ENGINE STALL AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND DRIVING CONDITIONS
When you turn vehicle on and state driving, if you hit a bump in the road, the vehicle shuts off, and you have to safely pull over, put in Park, and restart the vehicle
While driving with my wife sitting in passenger seat, the headrest safety deployed for no reason. This occurred under normal driving conditions. There was no impact or collision which would have caused the deployment.
The passenger headrest deployed with no warning. My daughter was sitting in the seat while we were driving at 40 mph when the headrest shot forward and hit her head. There was no accident and no collisions of any kind to cause this to happen.
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Durango. The contact stated while his daughter was driving at 15 PMH and coming to a stop with his son in the front passenger seat, the brake pedal was depressed but hesitated to respond, causing a 50-60 feet in stopping distance delay. The brake warning light illuminated. The vehicle lightly crashed into the rear of another occupied vehicle. The contact stated that the air bags did not deploy as it was a fender bender. There were no injuries sustained. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the brake booster needed to be replaced. The independent mechanic informed the contact that the failure was associated with NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V572000 (Service Brakes, Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The contact became aware that his VIN was included in the recall though he had not received a recall notification. The dealer was notified of the failure through a voicemail message. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 166,000.
Existing recall for that model is T36. I faced the same issue, Battery warning lamp started to blink, alternator failed, PCU failed, all electric went off during I was driving on the highway with 2 Babys, my wife and dog in the car. outside 78degrees. Almost caused and huge accident. FCA Dodge Chrysler dealers in my town don´t want to help me with that concern. Nobody on the phone is able to help me . . I´m more then frustrated. I´m working for an big Automotive company. We´re responding different to an product safety problem ! And respecting every customers complaints.
At 40 mph and more vehicle stalls and shake intermittent stalls, stumble. vehicle do not cut off. but stumble real bad. it's really bad in overdrive. 2 or more people in it.
Driving the on-ramp as I was speeding up to file into traffic my headrest exploded hitting me on the back of my head/neck area. It was a pretty violent incident and I almost caused a accident due to my orientation being stunned. As I made it home I found little black plastic pieces that came from the head rest. It appears the plastic retainers become fragile over time and loose their structural integrity, then become a serious hazard should they fail during driving. During this event no warning has been given, sound or visual, and the vehicle is drivable. However, as there is currently a potential for a head/neck injury to the front passenger if it should reoccur, no passenger is being transported in the front until this is corrected.
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Durango. The contact stated while driving at 15-20 MPH and making a left turn, the turn signal was engaged but the driver's side blinker failed to illuminate, causing the driver who was driving behind the contact to honk at her. A warning message indicating that the driver's side blinker had failed illuminated. The contact continued to drive. The contact stated that her husband and herself replaced the driver's side blinker bulb twice within a week; however, the failure persisted. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 111,000.
While my wife was driving the passenger seat headrest popped out for no apparent reason. The headrest will not pop into place. We are concerned with the remaining headrest in the car for fear they will pop out at any moment. Please let’s try to resolve this problem before someone looses a life due to a problem we know exists. Will you all also please send info on possible solutions. There are many forums stating solutions but the headrest will not pop back in. The suv was not involved in any collision for this to have happened. Please help
The headrest has opened and nothing caused that to happen.
It is believed after Dealer inspection/investigation that there is a problem with 2 ignition modules. The reason we took it to the Dealer is because the vehicle randomly turns off - lights, engine, everything - while being operated causing significant risk to any occupants in the vehicle. The issue was replicated and recorded on a flight recorder installed by the Dealer - paid for by the owners. The vehicle was inspected multiple times over the course of almost a year to replicate, analyze and identify the issue. There were check engine lights that came on and we had those reviewed but no issue was identified. These occurred before the vehicle started randomly turning off.
Alternator froze up and then started smoking. Smelled like a potential electrical fire about to happen. Pulled over safely and smoke filled the cabin and under the hood. Opened hood and tons of smoke, fortunately there was no actual fire at that point.
My 2012 Dodge Durango was serviced under NHTSA Campaign 19-V813. This called for the replacement of the fuel pump relay to correct a potential no-start or stall situation. This also prevented fuel pump failure due to the unit not being switched off by the TIPM when the car is turned off. This repair has not corrected the problem. The car would be available for inspection upon request. The safety of the occupants could be at risk. The problem is intermittent and has not been able to be duplicated at the dealer. There are no warning lamps or codes that can be read. The car will crank over for an extended period of time but will not start. This is an intermittent problem and occurs two times a month or more, has been happening since Fall of 2020, and has been increasing in frequency. The fuel pump relay was replaced in June 2021 and the car had a no-start two weeks later. The check engine light does not come on. No codes are found by the dealer. The engine has not quit while in motion, but possibly could as this problem increases in frequency. On two occasions while the car was in motion the right rear window went down for no reason. The window could not be raised until the car was brought to a stop, turned off and started again. The window could then be raised using the driver's door control. This poses a danger to the occupants of the vehicle especially during severe weather and is at least a distraction to the driver. The common denominator in these two problems is the TIPM. I think the fuel pump relay problem is actually a problem found deeper within the TIPM. Chrysler is simply saying that the "flix" is a relay and not the real culprit, the much more expensive TIPM. The dealer says they cannot diagnose this problem unless it is happening on their lot. They have inspected the fuel pump relay work that was done under recall and said that the installation was correct.
Crank wont start engine light etc sign and abs and crank forever then start then cut off within 5-10 secs with high rpm
Leaking oil filter housing which seems to be a very common manufacturer defect.
I believe that my vehicle falls under the Dodge R09 recall. As I accelerated on the gas, my car stalled out causing me to coast to the median. After about 30 minutes the car began to run without issue again. My vehicle acted exactly like the description from the recall for the fuel sensor. However, Dodge told me to pay out of pocket because it was not under the recall.
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Durango. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the driver’s side cylinder to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired but was pending repairs. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 136,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Durango. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V813000 (Electrical System) however, the part to do the recall repair was not available. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle stalled several times on separate occasions. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The dealer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that parts for the recall repair were not yet available and scheduled an upcoming appointment for January 2022. Prior to the failure, the vehicle had the external pump relay replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.
1.The air bag light come on & off randomly. The air bag has never been deployed. 2. The transmission misfires, I don't know if it has to do with the fuel pump relay. I've replaced almost the entire transmission and still does the same thing.
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while driving at 40 - 45 mph, the battery warning light was illuminated and other unknown warning lights would illuminate on and off. Additionally, the windshield wiper was inadvertently activated, the doors would not lock, and a burning odor was detected coming from under the hood of the vehicle. The vehicle then lost motive power. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and diagnosed with alternator failure and the computer system's wires were burned out. The alternator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and remained with the mechanic. The dealer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a recall and referred the contact to NHTSA. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V634000 (Electrical System) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 148,000.
