YESTERDAY WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START MY DURANGO, IT TURNED OVER BUT DID NOT START. AS THIS IS THE 5TH TIME, I ALREADY KNEW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. I CHECKED THE FUSE FOR THE FUEL PUMP AND REPLACED IT. IT STARTED BACK UP FINE. ALTHOUGH THIS TIME, THIS PUT MY FAMILY AND I IN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. WHEN DRIVING THROUGH A RAILROAD CROSSING, THE VEHICLE DIED ON ME. MOMENTS LATER THE BARRICADES CAME DOWN AND I JUMPED OUT QUICKLY TO PUSH THE VEHICLE WHILE MY WIFE AND KIDS WERE INSIDE. I MANAGED TO GET THEM OUT OF HARMS WAY BEFORE THE TRAIN ARRIVED. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO RECALL THIS PROBLEM, LIKE THE 2011-2013 VEHICLES THAT ARE EXPERIENCING FUEL PUMP RELAY SWITCH. OBVIOUSLY 2014 MODELS ARE AFFECTED.
ON 12/5/2020 AT ABOUT 1200 HOURS, I WAS DRIVING NORTHBOUND AT ABOUT 40 MPH ON LITCHFIELD RD IN GOODYEAR, AZ IN MY 2014 DODGE DURANGO WHEN THE FRONT PASSENGER-SIDE HEADREST DEPLOYED AGAINST THE BACK OF MY WIFE'S HEAD FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I LOOKED AROUND AND THERE WERE NO VEHICLES WITHIN A QUARTER-MILE OF MY VEHICLE WHEN THIS OCCURRED. ON ARRIVAL HOME, I INSPECTED THE FAULTY HEADREST AND IT APPEARED AN INTERIOR PLASTIC RETENTION PIECE WAS BUSTED. I CONTACTED MY DODGE DEALER, WHO ADVISED A REPLACEMENT WAS NOT AVAILABLE UNTIL MAY 2021. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE AND THEY WE'RE EQUALLY AS USELESS AS THE DEALER. I AM COMPLETELY ANNOYED, DISSATISFIED AND A BIT ENRAGED.
WATER IS GETTING IN TAIL LIGHT (RACETRACK LED LIGHTING) AND SHORTING OUT THE LED LAMPS. HAPPENS WHEN IT RAINS OR GOES THROUGH A CAR WASH
SEATBELT FOR DRIVER NO LONGER RETRACTS OR LOCKS WHEN BRAKE IS APPLIED. DOESN'T RETRACT BACK WHEN VEHICLE IS OFF AND SEATBELT IS REMOVED JUST FLOPS. BACK LIFT GATE OPENS AND THEN CLOSES AND SUSPENDS HALFWAY WILL HIT YOUR HEAD IF YOU'RE STANDING UNDER IT. INTERIOR OVERHEAD LIGHTS DO NOT TURN OFF WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND RUNNING. DON'T TURN OFF FOR ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES AFTER VEHICLE TURNED OFF AND IS LOCKED.
THE CENTER PART OF THE RACETRACK TAIL LIGHT LEAKS AND THE WATER CAN AND WILL CAUSE THE LIGHT TO FAIL. CHRYSLER KNOWS OF THE ISSUE AND IT IS HAPPENING IN LARGE NUMBERS ON THE 2014 TO CURRENT DODGE DURANGO. THE REPLACEMENT OF THE PART IS OVER $1,000 US DOLLARS AND YET THEY WILL NOT RECALL THE VEHICLES TO MAKE IT RIGHT INSTEAD THEY USE IT AS A MONEY PIT. THE LIGHT CAN LEAK IF THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY OR MOVING IN WET WEATHER AND SIMPLY WASHING THE VEHICLE WILL CAUSE WATER TO STAND IN THE HOUSING. THE LIGHTS HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO GO OUT COMPLETELY GOING DOWN THE ROAD ALONG WITH THE LICENSE PLATE LIGHTS CAUSING A DANGEROUS SITUATION. PLEASE HELP US HARD WORKING PEOPLE OUT AND MAKE CHRYSLER ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS POORLY SEALED DESIGN BECAUSE THAT MUCH MONEY ISN'T EASY TO COME BY THESE DAYS.
WE WERE DRIVING HOME FROM THANKSGIVING BREAK ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN WE HEARD A LOUD POP. MY HUSBAND THOUGHT MY DAUGHTER HAD THROWN SOMETHING AT HIS HEAD. WE LOOKED BACK AND SHE WAS ASLEEP. WE TURNED ON THE LIGHTS TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED AND WE FOUND THE HEAD TEST HAD POPPED OUT. MY HUSBAND HAD A SLIGHT HEADACHE AFTER BUT WE CANNOT GET THE HEADREST FIXED.
AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THIS MORNING, TAKING MY KIDS TO SCHOOL, THE PASSENGER SEAT HEADREST COMPLETELY POPPED ITSELF OUT. CAME APART FROM FROM FRONT TO BACK AND IS LOCKED SO THAT IT CANNOT BE PUT BACK TOGETHER. IT HIT MY PASSENGER IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD.
I HAD SIGNIFICANT OIL LEAKS IN MY DRIVEWAY FOR THE LAST FEW MONTHS. I NOTICED MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AT 105,000 MILES. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC TO GET SERVICED. THEY REPLACED TRANSMISSION FLUID (PURCHASED AT DODGE DEALERSHIP) AND SERVICED ANY OTHER AREAS. I RECEIVED THE VEHICLE BACK AND NOTICED IT WAS STILL LEAKING A GREAT AMOUNT. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE MECHANIC THINKING THE ISSUE WAS NOT SOLVED. THE MECHANIC THEN ADVISED ME THAT THERE IS AN OIL LEAK NEXT TO THE OIL COOLER AND WHEN PARKED AT AN INCLINE, IT BEGINS TO LEAK PROFUSELY. HE SAID THIS IS VERY COMMON WITH DODGE DURANGO'S AND REACHED OUT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO INQUIRE ABOUT RECALLS. THEY INDICATED THERE IS NO CURRENT RECALL. THIS IS VERY DISAPPOINTING. I HAVE SELDOM DRIVEN THE CAR SINCE THE PANDEMIC AND HAVE UPKEEP THE MAINTENANCE ON THE VEHICLE. I AM THE SECOND OWNER AND PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN 2016.
3 WEEKS BACK I HAVE NOTICED MY CAR IS NOT GETTING AT FIRST START. IT IS CARRYON CRANKS, BUT DO NOT GIVE START BUT SECOND OR THIRD ATTEMPT ONLY IT GET START. WITH REMOTE START IT DONOT MAKE TROUBLE TO ME. I GOT CHECKED MY BATTERY, THEY SAYS BATTERY IS GOOD AND MAY BE THE PROBLEM WITH FUEL PUMP AND REPLACEMENT IS VERY COSTLY. I CONTACTED MY FRIENDS WHO OWN DODGE DURANGO, MOST OF THEM SAID THEIR CAR HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM SPECIALLY 2014 MODEL. FUNNY THINGS IS THAT THIS PROBLEM APPEARED TO EVERYONE IN THE LAST FEW MONTHS ONLY. LOOK LIKE THIS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT. KINDLY REQUEST TO RECALL THIS BATCH AND ADVICE COMPANY TO GET REPLACEMENT AT FREE OF COST. MY KIND REQUEST IS THAT IF MANY A CAR OWNER FACEING SAME PROBLEM THEN COMPANY SHOULD ADDRESS IT AS SERIOUS MATTER. ON NOVEMBER 7TH, 2020 WHILE DRIVING ON A AVENUE MULTIPLES ENGINE AND ELECTRICAL WARNING REVEAL ON THE VEHICLE DASHBOARD AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE STEERING WHEEL GOT REALLY HARD, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME UP, THE BRAKES LIGHT, AND A MESSAGE STATING "SERVICE SHIFTER"; THIS ALL HAPPENED ON A NICK OF TIME WHILE I HAVE MY WHOLE FAMILY IN THE CAR, VERY UNSAFE.
1. RECENTLY 2 WEEKS BACK MY CAR DURING STARTING IT CRANKS MORE TIME AND AFTER SWITCH OFF AND SECOND ATTEMPT IT STARTS. WHEN STARTING WITH REMOTE THE ENGINE STARTS NORMAL WITH NORMAL CRANKING. BATTERY VOLTAGE EVERYTHING CHECKED ALL OK. DEALER IS TELLING MAY BE FUEL PUMP TO CHECK EVEN THEY ASK MORE MONEY. MY CONCERN IS MY FRIEND ALSO BOUGHT SAME MODEL CAR ON SAME WEEK PURCHASED AND WHEN I CHECKED WITH HIM HE ALSO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AND PROBLEM CAME SAME TIME. THAT MEANS THE COMPONENT HAVE SOME MANUFACTURER DEFECT WHICH WILL RESULT IN SAFETY. MANUFACTURER SHOULD LOOK INTO THE MATTER AND RECALL FOR THE DEFECT AND FIX DUE TO SAME BATCH CAR HAVE SAME FAULT OR DEFECT. 2. MY CAR ENGINE HAVE SOME TICKING NOISE WHICH WAS NOTICED JUST AFTER FINISHED THE WARRANTY. SO WHEN CHECKED WITH DEALER HEY TOLD WARRANTY FINISHED THIS IS VALVE LIFTER ISSUE AND IT SHOULD BE CHANGED WHICH THE PRICE IS TOO HIGH AND I ASKED FOR JUST CROSSED WARRANTY KILOMETER OF 60000, IT CAME AROUND 65000 KM AND WHEN I TOLD DEALER THEY ADVISE TO CHANGE AND NOTHING CAN BE REPORTED I HAVE TO PAY FULL AND IT WIL NOT HARM YOU CAN DRIVE, NOW CAR DROVE AROUND 118000KM WITH THAT SOUND AND NOW I CAN HEAR THE SOUND IS MORE THIS ALSO SOME MANUFACTURER ISSUE WHICH DEALER DID NOT NOTIFY THE MANUFACTURER TELING JUST CHANGE THE PARTS VALVE LIFTER AND MAY BE CAMSHAFT ETC. IF THIS ISSUE US COMING JUST AFTER WARRANTY PERIOD THE COMPANY SHOULD TAKE UNTI ACCOUNT THE ISSUE AND FIND SOLUTION BY RECALLING AND FIXING THE ISSUE.

THE CONTACT HAD YET TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC OR A DEALER TO BE REPAIRED FOR THE FAILURE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V741000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) WHICH HE LINKED TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
RIGHT FRONT SEAT HEADREST HAS DEPLOYED FOR NO REASON WHILE DRIVING.
THE HEADREST BURST OPEN ON THE DRIVER SEAT FOR NO REASON, WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS ON BUT STATIONARY, PARKED IN MY GARAGE.
THE RACETRACK TAIL LIGHT IS NOT AIRTIGHT SO WATER GETS INSIDE THE LAMP. THIS CAUSED AN ELECTRICAL SHORT ON THE LED BOARDS AND SMOKE FILLED MY CAR. I CONTACTED DODGE AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO FOR ME. MY INSURANCE ACCEPTED IT AS A CLAIM AND I HAD THE LAMP REPLACED. THE OLD LAMP WAS INTERMITTENTLY LIT BEFORE GOING COMPLETELY OUT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AT START-UP THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL TAPPING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE, WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SEVERAL INDEPENDENT MECHANICS WHO WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED ONLINE BY OTHER DODGE DURANGO OWNERS THAT THE DEFECT WAS RELATED TO THE ENGINE LIFTERS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER AND TRANSFERRED TO NHTSA FOR ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AND 1 VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME ABOUT 3 TO 4 CAR LENGTHS. THE WOMAN WAS GOING SAME SPEED, I LOOKED TO MY RIGHT TO ASSURE A DOG WAS NOT GOING TO RUN INTO THE STRRET, 2 SECONDS, AN LOOKED BACK AT ROAD AND PERSON IN FRONT HAD STOPPED, WITH NO TURN SIGNAL ON AND NO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I FIRMLY APPLIED BRAKES AND TRIED TO VEER AROUND THE CAR BUT THERE WAS NOT SUFFICIENT SPACE AND HIT THE BACK OF CAR SO HARD IT TOSSED AROUND ITEMS IN THE CAR BREAKING FRONT WINDSHIELD, KNOCKING OFF MY GLASSES. THE FORCE WAS SO HARD IT THRUST MY BODY HARD ONTO STEERING WHEEL AND LEG INTO DASH. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY FOR DRIVER OR PASSENGER. THE SEAT BELT DID NOT HOLD MY BODY TO THE SEAT. I HAVE A VERY SERIOUS CONTUSION ON LEFT LEG WHERE PUTTING WEIGHT ON THE LEG IS TERRIBLE PAIN. I HAVE A FRACTURED STURNUM(CHESTBONE) MAKING BREATHING, WALKING, GETTING UP OR DOWN, REACHING FOR SOMETHING EXTREMELY DIFFICULT AND EXTREMELY PAINFUL. YOUR SITE BY VIN NUMBER STATES THERE WAS A RECALL ON AIRBAGS, I NEVER RECEIVED ANY NOTICE OF A RECALL ON AIRBAGS OR SEATBELT. I PHONED LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR HISTORY AND THEY REPORTED THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A RECALL ON THIS MAKE AND MODEL. I TALKED WITH INSURACE AGENT AND AN ATTORNEY AND THEY HAD NO INFORMATION OF RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE. NOW I DONT KNOW WHAT TO BELIEVE, BUT I DO KNOW SOMETHING IS WRONG AS EITHER THE AIRBAG OR SEAT BELT SHOULD HAVE PREVENTED ME FROM BEING THRUST FORWARD SO HARD TO FRACTURE MY STERNUM AND CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY TO LEFT KNEE. I WOULD LIKE AN INVESTIGATION AS TO WHY THE AIRBAG AND SEATBELT DID NOT WORK PROPERLY. I DONT BELIEVE THIS VEHICLE IS SAFE. PLEASE CONDUCT THE INVESTIGATION.

FUNNY PART IS MY FRIEND ALSO TOOK THE SAME CAR SAME MODEL WITH ONE WEEK DIFFERENCE HE ALSO FACE THE SAME ISSUES ON SAME MONTH ON 2020 OCT I BELIVE. I ALREADY REPORTED BUT NO RESPONSE. THIS FUEL PUMP CAN CAUSE PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING ALSO IF PRESSURE FAILS AND NO SUPPLY OF FUEL THEN ITBCAN CAUSE ACCIDENT. THE OTHER THING IS SOME OTHER MANUFACTURER FOR AMERICAN AND GERMAN CARS ALREADY CALLED FOR RECALL DUE TO FUEL PUMP ON JAN 2021, STILL FCA MANUFACTURER DOES NOT CARE THEY JUST IGNORE THE COMPLAINT AND ISSUE TELLING WARRANTY FINISH. 2. MY SECOND ISSUE HAPPEND WHEN AROUND 65000 LMS ENGINE IS GIVING NOISE TICKING, DEALER TOLD TAPPET ISSUE WARRANTY FINISHED CANT DO ANYTHING. U CAN DRIVE ITS JUST GIVE SOUND ONLY. NOW THE SOUND IS INCREASED AND I INFORMED MANUFACTURER THEY TOLD Y I DID NOT TELL BEFORE MY WARRANTY FOR CAR IS FINISHED, AND IF WE GO AND CHECK 2014 MODEL DURANGO THE PROBLEM OS COMMON AND THEY DONT WANT TO FIX THEY JUST WANT US TO PAY HUGE AMOUNT OF MONEY TO REPAIR OUR OWN, THEY KNOWS THEIR CAR HAVE THESE PROBLEMS AND THEY NEVER BOTHERED. ON MY VIEW THEY HAVE TO TAKE INITIATIVE TO RECALL TO FIX. IF U GO TO COMPLAINT FORUM THERE IS LOT LIKE THIS PROBLM. FCA JUST DONT CARE AFTER THEY SELL THEIR CAR AND WANT TO PAY HUGE AMOUNT OF MONEY AMD DOES NOT GIVE RELIABLE CAR. NHSTA HAVE TO INVOLVE AND TAKE ACTION. HOPE I WILL GET POSITIVE ACTION FROM NHSTA WHERE MANUFACTURER IGNORED.
DRIVER SIDE HEADLAMP. BALLAST ASSEMBLY DEFECT AND MISSING HEADLAMP SEAL. DEALER SAYS THE PROBLEM IS NOT THE LIGHT BUT THE WHO;E ASSEMBLY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED FOR $2600. LOOKED ONLINE AND MANY OTHERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE DRIVERS SIDE HEADLAMP.
I WAS SIMPLY DRIVING BETWEEN 25-35 MPH, BY MYSELF, WHEN THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADREST SUDDENLY DEPLOYED. I THOUGHT SOMETHING OR SOMEONE HIT MY CAR. AFTER LOOKING AROUND I NOTICED THAT IT WAS THE PASSENGER HEADREST. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT CAUSED IT TO ACTIVATE??? DEALER SAYS THE ONLY WAY TO FIX IT IS TO BRING IT TO THEM???
PASSENGER SIDE HEADREST DEPLOYED WHILE DRIVING. NO CRASH INVOLVED. DEPLOYED DURING HIGHWAY DRIVING APPROX 45-50 MPH.
AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY THE PASSENGER SEAT HEAD REST DEPLOYED HITTING ME IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD. THE INNER PARTS OF THE HEAD REST SNAPPED AND IT'S NOT RATTLING.
INTERMITTENT NO START CONDITION/START AND SHUT OFF AT ANY TIME WHICH STARTED AFTER VEHICLE TAKEN TO DEALER TO COMPLETE TRANS COOLER CONDENSER/MOTOR MOUNTS/RADIO REPLACEMENT. CAN HAPPEN AT COLD START OR AFTER VEHICLE HAS BEEN DRIVEN. THIS HAS HAPPENED 6 TIMES IN A COURSE OF ALMOST 3 MONTHS. VEHICLE TAKEN TO SCOTT ROBINSON DODGE IN TORRANCE, CA 3 TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO PROPERLY DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR. HAD ME REPLACE BATTERY AND STARTER. CONDITION STILL EXISTS. DEALER IS PLAYING GUESSING GAMES WITH THE REPAIRS NEEDED FOR MY VEHICLE. I ASKED DEALER TO CHECK FUSES AND WIRES TO TIPM. I BELIEVE MY VEHICLE IS BEING AFFECTED BY THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V813000 AND OTHERS WHICH AFFECTED 2011-2013 DURANGO'S. OTHER 2014 DURANGO OWNERS HAVE COMPLAINED OF A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE. A RANDOM NO START/STALL CONDITION IS VERY CONCERNING SINCE THAT INCREASES MY CHANCES OF A STALL, CRASH AND BEING STRANDED. MULTIPLE TIMES I HAVE HAD MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR SCARED BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START. IF THE DEALER IS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE AND COMPLETE REPAIRS, THEN WHO CAN?? I HAVE YOUNG CHILDREN AND THIS IS MY ONLY MODE OF TRANSPORTATION. I AM WITHOUT A VEHICLE AND NO LOANER GIVEN BY THE DEALER. IF IT WEREN'T FOR COVID, I'D REALLY BE OUT OF LUCK WITH NO OTHER MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION. CHRYSLER NEEDS REVIEW AND EXPAND THE CURRENT RECALLS TO INCLUDE 2014 MODELS OR MAYBE A NEW ISSUE NEEDS TO BE IDENTIFIED AND BROUGHT TO LIGHT. VEHICLE ISSUE STARTED 09/05/20 AND HAS CONTINUED SINCE. SUV TAKEN TO DEALER 10/09/20, 10/21/20 & 11/04/20 FOR ISSUE. THEY ALSO ADVISED ON MY 10/21/20 VISIT THAT MY EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS ARE BROKEN WHICH IS CAUSING A TICKING NOISE AT START UP. THIS WAS NEVER DIAGNOSED AT PREVIOUS VISITS AND NOISE HAS BEEN THERE. I HAVE ATTACHED A MORE COMPREHENSIVE REPORT.
THE WINDOW COWL HAS DETERIORATED AND CAUSING LOTS OF ROAD NOISE- IT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A WHILE BUT JUST NOW FIGURED OUT THE ISSUE. THERE ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS SURROUNDING THIS- IF THIS ULTIMATELY FAILS IT CAN CAUSE LEAKAGE TO THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER OR OTHER DAMAGE FROM WATER.

APPEARS TO HAPPEN MORE FREQUENTLY ON 1) QUICK ACCELERATION (I.E., MERGING, ON-RAMP, ACCELERATING FOLLOWING A RIGHT TURN) AND 2) WHEN CLIMBING A HILL (THERE IS A BRIDGE THIS ROUTINELY HAPPENS ON). OCCURS DURING CITY DRIVING AND ON THE HIGHWAY. ENGINE SHUTS OFF WITHOUT WARNING, SOMETIMES NOT EVEN ENOUGH TIME TO COAST OVER TO THE SHOULDER. CAN TYPICALLY WAIT 2-2.5 MINUTES AND IT WILL START AGAIN ON ITS OWN. IF YOU ATTEMPT TO RESTART IMMEDIATELY, THE ENGINE WON'T TURN OVER. THIS ISSUE BEGAN IN AUGUST WITH SOME SPUTTERING, PROGRESSED TO STALLING OCCASIONALLY (FIRST TIME LATE AUGUST/EARLY SEPT), AND NOW WILL SOMETIMES STALL MULTIPLE TIMES WITHIN A DAY. HAVE HAD INTO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS OVER MORE THAN THREE OCCASIONS AND THEY HAVE NOT YET BEEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSIS THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IT DOESN'T APPEAR TO HAVE A CODE ASSOCIATED WITH IT.

TRAVELING IN PARKING LOT LESS THAN 10MPH WHEN SUDDENLY THE PASSENGER HEADREST DEPLOYED WITH A LOUD BANG. FORTUNATELY THERE WAS NO ONE SITTING IN THE SEAT AT THE TIME, AS IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS INJURY. THERE WAS NOTHING THE CAUSED THE HEADREST TO DEPLOY. AFTER EXAMINATION, THE CHEAP PLASTIC PIECES HOLDING THE HEADREST IN IS PROPER PLACE WERE BROKEN. I AM NOW GREATLY CONCERN THIS WILL ALSO HAPPEN ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AND MAY CAUSE AN INJURY OR ACCIDENT. IT WAS CLEARLY A FAILURE OF A DEFECTIVE PART. SINE THAN I HAVE HEARD OF MANY SIMILAR INCIDENTS. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL SHORT IN THE OCR MODULE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE OCR MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED HOWEVER, THE REPLACEMENT PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000.
KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT OF THE 2014 DODGE DURANGO. THE HEAD RESTRAINT IS KNOWN TO DEPLOY WITHOUT CAUSE, HITTING THE DRIVER IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD. THIS JUST HAPPENED TWO DAYS AGO (8/16/2020) TO THE DRIVER SIDE HEAD RESTRAINT OF MY 2014 DODGE DURANGO CITADEL WITH 60,000 MILES. NOTHING PROVOKED THE MALFUNCTION, AS THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED.
SEVERE LEAKAGE OF FLUIDS UNDERNEATH VEHICLE RESULTED IN REPLACEMENT OF RADIATOR. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY
THE PASSENGER SEAT HEADREST POPPED ALL THE WAY OUT. THERE HAS BEEN NO WRECK, COLLISION, FORCE OF ANY KIND. THE CAR WAS IN PARK AT THE TIME. IT CAN NOT BE CLOSED.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD MY DRIVING SIDE HEAD REST POPPED OPEN HITTING ME IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD.

THE HEAD REST FRONT PORTION POPPED OFF FROM THE BACK PORTION AND WILL NOT GO BACK TOGETHER. THE GARAGE ESTIMATE TO FIX THIS IS $900!! I THINK THIS SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF BY CHRYSLER SINCE I WASN'T EVEN DRIVING MY VEHICLE - IT'S JUST A FAULTY HEADREST.

THE SECOND INCIDENT WAS MYSELF DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY THE DRIVER SIDE HEADREST BURST FORWARD WHILE IN MOTION HITTING ME IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD CAUSING ME TO SWERVE FROM THE FAR LEFT LANE ACROSS TWO LANES BEFORE GAINING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AGAIN. LUCKY FOR ME IT WAS LATE AT NIGHT AND NO OTHER TRAFFIC WAS AROUND OTHERWISE I COULD HAVE ENDED UP IN A COLLISION. ALSO REFER TO TRACKING NUMBER 11389462. AS THIS WAS THE SECOND HEADREST TO MALFUNCTION.

WHILE TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE 80 MILES FROM HOME THE COOLANT LIGHT WENT OFF AND THE TEMP GAUGE RAN HOT. PULLED OVER AND COOLED DOWN; LIGHTS WENT OFF. PULLED UP INFO FOR A NEARBY DEALERSHIP AND TRIED TO DRIVE TO IT . ONLY GOT ABOUT A MILE AND LIGHTS AND GAUGE WENT OFF AGAIN. TRIED TO FIND A SAFE SPACE TO PULL OVER ON INTERSTATE; THE SHOULDERS ARE VERY NARROW ON I45. WHEN PULLED OVER ENGINE LIGHT ALSO CAME ON AND I TURNED ENGINE OFF AND IT WOULD NOT RESTART. CALLED TOW TRUCK, DEALERSHIP REPLACED WATER PUMP BUT THEN FOUND CATASTROPHIC ENGINE DAMAGE. FCA KNOWS THERE'S A PROBLEM WITH WATER PUMP BECAUSE THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON IT BUT THEY WILL NOT HONOR WARRANTY ON ENGINE BECAUSE THEY SAY I CONTINUED TO DRIVE WITH ENGINE LIGHT ON WHICH I DIDN'T. IF WATER PUMP HAD BEEN RECALLED I NEVER WOULD HAVE HAD CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE.
SO THE FIRST TIME I COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY DURANGO. I ATTEMPTED TO START THE DURANGO AND IT JUST KEPT TURNING BUT WOULD NOT START. AT FIRST I THOUGH IT WAS MY FUEL PUMP. THEN I LOOKED AT THE FUSE AND THE FUEL PUMP MOTOR FUSE WAS A LITTLE BROWN ON THE PIN. SO I REPLACED IT WITH THE HORN FUSE 20A AND I WHEN I TURNED IT TO THE ON POSITION I COULD HEAR THE FUEL PUMP. DURING THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED I WAS I A HURRY TO WORK. I GOT MY KIDS IN TO DROP THEM OFF AND I GOT AND AND TRIED STARTING IT. SAME THING IT JUST KEEP TURNING BUT NO START. I CHECK THE FUSE AGAIN AND THE FUSE IS REALLY BURNT BUT NOT BLOWN. SO I WAIT FOR MY WIFE TO GET HOME SO I CAN BUY ANOTHER 20A FUSE. I REPLACE THE 20A FUSE AND IT STARTS. THIRD TIME THIS HAPPENED YESTERDAY 6-30-20. I CHECKED THE FUSE AND THE FUSE STILL LOOKS GOOD. DID MY RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT PREVIOUS DODGE DURANGOS HAVE BEEN RECALLED WITH BAD PUEL PUMP RELAY SWITCH FAILURE. NOW MY DURANGO SITS OUTSIDE BECAUSE IT WONT START. THE BAD RELAY SWITCH IS SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE LOOKED AT WITH NEWER VEHICLES. I'VE NOTICED OTHER 2014 OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THIS.
