I WAS DRIVING DOWN ROAD AND THE HEAD REST OUT OF THE BLUE POP OPEN. SCARED THE HECK OUT OF ME AND I PULLED OVER TO FIND IT BROKEN AND DONE THIS OUT OF NOWHERE. *TR
WHEN CRANKING UP MY VEHICLE I HEARD A TICKING NOISE, AS I STARTED TO DRIVE THE NOISE BEGAN TO GET LOUDER. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE MECHANIC WHO INFORMED ME THAT I HAVE A BAD LIFTER IN THE ENGINE IT WILL COST OVER $2000 TO GET FIXED OR MORE. I ONLY HAVE 135,000 MILES ON MY DURANGO CITADEL THAT IS A 2014. I SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THIS TYPE OF ENGINE ISSUE THIS SOON. I AM HIGHLY UPSET ABOUT THIS ISSUE. *TR
The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that he was observing that an oil stain was showing on his driveway. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed and determined that the oil filter adapter housing needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. However, the contact observed that the oil leak had reoccurred. The contact had taken the vehicle back to the same mechanic who replaced the oil filter adapter housing again, however, the failure reoccurred. The contact returned to the same mechanic who advised that the adapter filter was manufactured with an aluminum housing and no longer in plastic. The contact stated that the mechanic was test-driving the vehicle after he had installed the aluminum oil filter adapter housing. The contact stated that the mechanic advised he was driving at approximately 30 MPH when the vehicle began emitting smoke. The contact was advised by the mechanic that he pulled off of the roadway, and turned the vehicle off, but was unable to open the hood due to flames. The fire department was called and they extinguished the flames. The vehicle was towed back to the mechanic's shop. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
THE FUSE BOX KEEP BLOWING THE EMC FUSE AND NOW POWER STEERING WANT WORK THE FUSE BOX WAS SMOKING LIKE IT WAS ON FIRE AND I CALLED THE DEALER SAID NOTHING THEY CAN DO AND I PULLED SAID HAVE RECALLS ON MY DODGE AND I WANT TO KNOW WHY IF THEY FIX IT WHY IT STILL GIVING ME TROUBLE I HAVE A DISABLED WIFE AND KIDS HAS TO RIDE THIS CAR TO DROP NOW IT NOT ABLE TO BE DROVE BECAUSE CAN'T KEEP THE FUSE FROM BLOWING AND SHUTTING THE WHOLE CAR DOWN IF I HAVE I FILE A LAW SUIT AGAINST DODGE BECAUSE MY FAMILY COULD HAVE GOT BURN UP IN CAR THAT IS DEFEATED AND HAS HAD RECALL AND NOT FIX THE ISSUES EITHER THE DEALER LIED AND SAID THEY FIXED OR IT WASN'T FIXED AT ALL I BE A MANICURE FOR 34 YEARS AND I KNOW BECAUSE I WORK ON DODGE FORD CHEVY ALL THE TIME AND I SURE ANT NO DUMB [XXX] BUT ANYTHING HAPPENS TO MY AND THE CAR ISSUE NOT FIX I WILL CONTACT A LAWYER OVER THIS MATTER AS TODAY BECAUSE I CALL 3 PLACES AND NOBODY WANT TO GET IT IN THE DEALER JUST BECAUSE IT SAYS ISSUE FIX COME NOW I ANT DUMB AND I ANT PAYING FOR A RECALL DEFECT TO BE FIX WHEN IT SHOULD BEEN FIX FROM THE GET TO*DT INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
WHILE PARKING I WAS DRIVING HEARD A LOUD POP/CRACK THAT STARTLED ME I TURN AND MY WIFE IS SAYING OUCH TOUCHING HER HEAD. THE HEAD REST WAS OPENED IN TWO LOOKED LIKE IT EXPLODED OPEN AND HIT MY WIFE ON THE BACK OF HER HEAD. THERE WAS NOTHING DIFFERENT THAT WE DID WHILE PARKING IN FRONT OF OUR HOME THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THE HEAD REST TO EXPLODE. I CALLED THE DEALER IMMEDIATELY AND THEY HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF ANY RECALLS OR PROBLEMS WITH THE HEAD REST AIRBAGS GOING OFF. NOW I'M CONCERNED ABOUT DRIVING THE VEHICLE NOT KNOWING IF THE SAME THING COULD HAPPENED TO THE DRIVER HEAD REST AIRBAG. UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE STILL IN A LOCKDOWN IN CALIFORNIA AND NOT DRIVING MUCH OR MAYBE A GOOD THING WITH THE NOT KNOWING IF THE AIRBAG WILL GO OFF. *TR
OUR 2014 DODGE DURANGO RT AWD TAILLIGHT IS TAKEN ON WATER WHEN IT RAINS OR EVEN GOING THRU CAR WASH CAUSING LIGHT TO SHORT IN SPOTS WHICH IS A SAFETY CONCERN FOR POSSIBLE FIRE HAZARDS, WRECKS THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL BY MANUFACTURER TO HAVE TO REPLACED. *TR
WHILE STOPPED AT A DRIVE THROUGH THE HEADREST OF THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT SEAT DEPLOYED HEATING ME IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD CAUSING A GOOD AMOUNT OF HEAD PAIN
I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT 55MPH WHEN, WITHOUT INCIDENT, THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADREST AIRBAG DEPLOYED WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION. *TR
THE PASSENGER HEADREST DEPLOYED WHILE A PASSENGER WAS SITTING IN SEAT. I ( THE OWNER OF THE CAR) WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT AND THE CAR WAS NOT IN MOTION. WE HAD DRIVEN TO A RESTAURANT AND WERE WAITING, PARKED IN A SPACE, IGNITION RUNNING, FOR OUR FOOD TO BE BROUGHT OUT TO THE CAR. WE HEARD A LOUD BANG, MY DAUGHTER SHRIEKED AND THEN WE FIGURED OUT THAT THE HEADREST POPPED OUT. SHE HAS A HEADACHE, SORE NECK BUT MINOR INJURIES, HOWEVER, HAD THE CAR BEEN IN MOTION AND THE DRIVER'S HEADREST DEPLOYED, THE SITUATION COULD HAVE BEEN DIFFERENT.*DT CONSUMER STATED HEADREST HAS BEEN REPLACED.*JB
PASSENGER SIDE HEADREST DEPLOYED WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY. SEAT WAS UNOCCUPIED, CAR GOING ABOUT 35 MPH, WITH NO COLLISION OR BRAKING OCCURRING TO SET OFF THE HEADREST.
THE VEHICLE HAS ISSUES WITH STALLING WHILE DRIVING, A/C NOT OPERATING PROPERLY, WINDOWS AND LOCKS DON'T ALWAYS WORK. *TR
TRAVELLING ON HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH PASSENGER HEADREST SUDDENLY DEPLOYED. THERE WAS NO BRAKING OR UNUSUAL ACTIVITY. OUR 12 YEAR OLD SON WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, WAS KNOCKED ON THE HEAD BY IT, BUT NO INJURY. VEHICLE HAS AROUND 120,000 MILES, HAS HAD NO OTHER MAJOR ISSUES, AND BEEN IN NO PRIOR ACCIDENTS. I FIND THIS "SAFETY FEATURE" COMPLETELY UN-NECESSARY, AND AN EXPENSIVE OVER-KILL. A STANDARD HEADREST IS SUFFICIENT.
I DROVE OVER A POTHOLE ON A CITY STREET. I WAS TRAVELING AT 35 MPH, WHICH RESULTED IN FRONT PASSENGER HEADREST TO POP OUT. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS IN THE SEAT. THE HEADREST WILL NOT CLOSE BACK. *TR
REAR CENTER "RACETRACK" LIGHT TAKES IN RAIN RUNOFF AND CONDENSATION FORMS IN THE LOW SECTIONS ON THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES OF THE RACETRACK, CAUSING THE LEDS TO BURN OUT.
REAR TAILLIGHT COLLECTS WATER IN THE HOUSING WHEN IT RAINS, SNOW OR WASH. DUE TO THIS DEFECT KNOW MY REAR TAIL LIGHT IS BURNED OUT. THIS OCCURS WHEN I'M STATIONARY OR MOVING. I READ A LOT OF FORUMS AND IT SEEMS LIKE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH DODGE. *TR
WHEN COMING TO A STOP AT ABOUT 5 MPH WITH YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL AND YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE. THE ENGINE IS STILL SENDING GAS AND NOT IDLING STILL ENGAGING. IF YOU MOVE THE SHIFTER TO NEUTRAL THE CAR WILL JUMP. *TR
REAR LIGHT BAR BEGAN CRACKING ON ITS OWN. MOISTURE AND WATER IS GOING INSIDE OF IT AND COULD CAUSE A SHORTAGE. CONTACTED DODGE BUT THEY STATE THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING AND I JUST HAVE TO BUY A NEW ONE ON MY OWN BUT IT IS OVER $1000 NEW.
WIFE WAS DRIVING IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA GOING APROX15MPH. DID NOT HIT ANYTHING ORWAS NOT STRUCK BY ANYTHING. WAS STRUCK IN THE HEAD THROWING HER HEAD VIOLENTLY FORWARD, BY THE DRIVERS SIDE HEADREST DEPLOYING. SHE WAS SHOCKED AS SHE HAD NO IDEA WHAT HAD HAPPENED. SHE IMMEDIATELY FELT PAIN AND LIGHT HEADEDNESS. RETURNED HOME LESS THAN BLOCK FROM THE HEADREST DEPLOYING. I TOOK HER TO ER, AFTER 2 HRS DETERMINED SHE HAD A CONCUSSION AND STRAINED MUSCLES IN HER NECK, BASICALLY WHIPLASH.
NOTICED WATER INSIDE THE CENTER REAR TAILLIGHT. TOOK THE LOWER CORNER BOLTS OUT AND TONS OF WATER POURS OUT ANY TIME THE CAR GETS WET (CAR WASH, RAIN STORM ETC). PARTS OF THE LED LIGHT ARE GOING OUT BECAUSE OF THE WATER INTRUSION. I MAKE SURE TO DRAIN THE WATER WHENEVER THE CAR GETS WET, AND TO NOT TURN THE LIGHTS ON WHEN THERE MAY BE WATER INSIDE THE HOUSING. OF COURSE, YOU CAN'T REPLACE THE BULB INSIDE, YOU HAVE TO BUY AN ENTIRE CENTER TAILLIGHT FOR OVER $1,000.00!!! WONT BE LONG AND THE ENTIRE LIGHT WILL BE BURNT OUT. NOW, SINCE I LIVE IN WYOMING WHERE WE HAVE NASTY WINTERS, AND THE WATER INTRUSION KEEPS GETTING WORSE, THE WATER HAS FROZEN INSIDE THE TAILLIGHT AND CRACKED THE LENS, CREATING MORE WATER INTRUSION! TERRIBLE DESIGN. I HAVE READ HOURS OF FORUMS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. IT IS VERY VERY COMMON ON 2014-2019 DURANGOS. THERE IS NO FIX FOR THE ISSUE. SOME HAVE GOTTEN EXTENDED WARRANTIES TO PAY FOR A NEW TAILLIGHT, THEN, A MONTH LATER, THEY HAVE WATER INSIDE THE LIGHT AND A BURNT OUT LIGHT AGAIN. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE LIGHT GOES OUT AND I AM IN THE MIDDLE OF A NASTY BLIZZARD; I CAN'T GO BUY A NEW BULB TO PUT IN IT AND I DEFINITELY CAN'T GO BUY A NEW TAILLIGHT AT $1K JUST TO HAVE IT DO THE SAME THING. DODGE NEEDS TO FIX THIS ISSUE. THE LIGHTS NEED TO BE RECALLED AND REPLACED WITH A RELIABLE DESIGN.
MARCH 22 2020 I GOT INTO MY VEHICLE DRIVERS SIDE AND WHEN I SAT DOWN THE HEAD REST DEPLOYED AND KNOCK ME ON THE BACK OF THE HEAD.HAD NOT EVEN STARTED THE VEHICLE IT WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVE WAY. I CALLED THE LOCAL DEALER AND HE TELLS THAT THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THE HEAD REST BUT ON LINE I SEE OTHER OWNERS HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM HAPPEN TO THEM BUT WHILE DRIVING. CRAZY! I COULD NOT IMAGINE IF THIS HAD HAPPENNED WHILE I WAS DRIVING.. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 47960 THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING. HE'S TELLING ME THAT THIS WILL BE OUT OFMY POCKET. HUGE SAFTEY PROBLEM AND HOPE DODGE STEPS TO THE PLATE. I HAVE BEEN A HUGE DODGE OWNER MY LAST DURANGO I OWNED FOR 19 YEARS BEFORE I BOUGHT THIS ONE.. I HOPE I HEAR FROM SOMONE SOON!!
2014 DODGE DURANGO JUST LEFT HIGHWAY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON TO EXIT RAMP. STOPPED AT END, MADE RIGHT TURN STARTED TO GO... " BANG " PASSENGER SIDE HEADREST MAKES LOUD NOISE HITS WIFE IN BACK OF HEAD . CAUSING NECK ACHE AND HEAD ACHE FOR TWO DAYS . I DID NOT LOOSE CONTROL BUT TOOK EYES OFF ROAD WHEN IT HAPPENED.THIS WAS A VERY DISTRACTING THING TO HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING ! PULLED OVER TOOK PICTURES , CALLED DODGE IMMEDIATELY .THEY SENT A COMPANY OUT TO INVESTIGATE , HAVE NOT HEARD BACK AT ALL . (( NOT TRYING TO DO YOUR JOB... WHILE TRAVELING ON VACATION, AND AT THE TIME PARKED IN A REST AREA, THE FRONT PASSENGER HEADREST RANDOMLY EXPLODED IN MY 2014 DODGE DURANGO. LUCKILY NOBODY WAS SITTING IN THE SEAT AT THE TIME AND NO INJURY OCCURRED. WE BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE NEW AND IT HAS NEVER BEEN IN A CRASH. NOTHING OCCURRED TO CAUSE THIS HEADREST TO DO THIS. PLASTIC PIECES ARE BROKEN AND THE HEADREST CANNOT BE RESET, IT HAS TO BE REPLACED. THE ESTIMATE FOR THIS REPAIR IS OVER $700. MY WIFE DRIVES THIS VEHICLE AS A DAILY DRIVER AND I AM CONCERNED THAT THE DRIVERS SEAT HEADREST WILL DO THE SAME THING WHILE WE ARE DRIVING, CAUSING AN ACCIDENT.
RS I AM TOLD IT WILL COST $954 ($300 LABOR - $654 IN PARTS) TO FIX BOTH SEATBELTS WHEN I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE UNDER SOME SORT OF WARRANTY/RECALL
I'VE HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR ABOUT 5 YEARS, I BARELY HIT 40K AND I AM EXPERIENCING A LOT OF LIFTER NOISE. WITH ALL THE COMPLAINTS I AM SURPRISED THEY HAVE NOT RECALLED FOR THIS PURPOSE. WHEN IT'S STATIONARY THE SOUND IS A LOT LOUDER THAN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION.
MY 2014 DODGE DURANGE CENTER RACETRACK LIGHTING TOOK ON WATER AND CAUSE AN ELECTRICAL SMELL THROUGHOUT MY VEHICLE. I COULDN'T LOCATE THE TROUBLE AREA UNTIL THIS LIGHT BURNED OUT. AT 46,000 MILES, I FEEL THIS IS AN UNACCEPTABLE ISSUE TO BE FACING. I WASN'T AWARE OF THIS IS UNTIL RESEARCHING JUST LAST NIGHT. IF IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE, I WOULD HAVE WATCHED THE TROUBLE AREA OR BEEN PROACTIVE TO REDUCE THE POSSIBILITY OF REACHING THIS POINT WHERE IT DOESN'T WORK WITH AN ESTIMATED $1,000 TO FIX.
THE REAR TAIL LIGHT LOCATED ON THE TAIL GATE OF THE DURANGO COLLECTS A LARGE AMOUNT OF WATER DURING ANY RAIN. THIS HAPPENS IF THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY AND/OR IN MOTION. BOLTS IN THE TAILGATE HAVE TO BE REMOVED TO DRAIN THE WATER. IF THE WATER STAYS IT WILL SHORT OUT THE LIGHTS AND THEY WILL NO LONGER ILLUMINATE.
THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT LENS FOGS UP WITH EXCESS MOISTURE/WATER AND DECREASES VISIBILITY. THE ONLY WAY TO TEMPORARILY FIX IT IS TO REMOVE A BULB AND LET IT DRY OUT. THIS OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY AND/OR IN MOTION.
WHEN VEHICLE IS RUNNING IN PARK YOU CAN HEAR A CLICKING SOUND IN THE ENGINE. WHEN IN PARK AND YOU EXCELERATE THE GAS THE CLICKING SOUNDS GETS FASTER. WHEN IN DRIVE THE SAME THING HAPPENS. NO ACTUAL ISSUES WITH ENGINE YET, BUT WITH RESEARCH AND SPEAKING TO OTHER OWNERS OF THE SAME VEHICLE THEY HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH HIGHER MILEAGE. RESEARCH AND BRINGING IT TO A MECHANIC HAS COME TO THE CONCLUSION OF A BAD CAM SHAFT AND ROCKERS. TOTAL PARTS AND LABOR WOULD TOTAL CLOSE TO $2,000.
I WANTED TO ADD TO THE MOUNTING NUMBER OF NOISY LIFTER COMPLAINTS THAT ARE ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE. MY 2014 DURANGO HAD THE 100K MILE WARRANTY AND AT APPROX 96K STARTED HAVING LIFTER NOISE. DELEARSHIP WAS AWESOME (SANDY SANSING IN MILTON) WITH FIXING THE VEHICLE. NOW AT 122K MILES I AM HAVING THE ISSUE AGAIN. NOT SURE IF THEY ARE GOING TO BE AWESOME A SECOND TIME. MY COMPLAINT IS THEY ONLY REPLACED MY #2 ROCKER AND LIFTER ALONG WITH THE EXHAUST CAM. THIS IS A KNOW PROBLEM AND IT SHOULD HAVE ALL BEEN REPLACED. BUT I GET IT, YOU CANT MAKE MONEY THAT WAY. DODGE FIX YOUR PROBLEM PENTASTAR! OH YEAH DEALERSHIP PROVIDED A RENTAL AND EVERYTHING DURING MY WEEK LONG REPAIR.
WATER LEAKS INTO THE TAIL LIGHT HOUSING CAUSING IT TO POOL UP IN THE BOTTOM AND KILL THE LED'S. REALLY BAD IN THE SNOW. YOU CAN SEE WHERE THE LED'S HAVE STARTED TO DIE IN THE ATTACHED PICTURE, THE BOTTOM MOST LED'S ON THE TAILGATE.
WATER IS ENTERING THE REAR TRACK LIGHTING AND IT HAS SHORTED OUT. THIS HAPPENS WHEN IT IS STATIONARY. *TR
I GET WATER IN MY TAIL LIGHTS. I GUESS YOU CAN DRAIN IT OUT BUT IT DOESN'T STOP THE ISSUE. I FOUND OTHERS ONLINE WITH SIMILAR ISSUE CHECK YOU TUBE! I'M NOT SURE WHEN THIS PROBLEM STARTED AS I RECENTLY NOTICED IT
WATER POOLING INSIDE THE LED TAIL LIGHT HOUSING. LIGHT HAS ALREADY BEEN REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY ONCE AND NOW THE REPLACEMENT LIGHT HAS THE SAME ISSUE. INTERNET SHOW THIS IS A WIDE SPREAD ISSUE WITH 2014+ DURANGOS BUT NO RECALL OR ACTION FROM DODGE.
GAS PUMP KEEPS STOPPING WHEN FILLING GAS TANK, LIKE SOMETHING IS STOPPING IT FROM FLOWING FAST
PORTION OF BRAKE LIGHT (KNOWN AS RACE TRACK LIGHTING) THAT IS LOCATED ON REAR HATCH PORTION OF VEHICLE HAS BEEN INFILTRATED BY WATER DUE TO FAULTY GASKET MATERIAL AND RENDERED PORTION OF LIGHT INOPERABLE. ENTIRE ASSEMBLY MUST BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1100 AT DEALER. HAVE MOPAR MAXCARE WARRANTY AND WILL NOT BE COVERED. ALSO SPOKE TO DODGE CUSTOMER CARE AND THEY COULD NOT OPEN A CASE ON IT DUE TO THE AGE/MIEAGE ON THE VEHICLE. THIS HAS BEEN A REOCCURRING ISSUE ON 2014+ DODGE DURANGO'S AS WELL AS OTHER MODELS THAT USE THIS RACETRACK LIGHTING. TO REITERATE, THE LIGHT IS NOT DAMAGED ON THE EXTERIOR IN ANY WAY, WAS NOT MODIFIED BY ANYONE IN ANY WAY.....IT IS AN INHERENT FLAW IN THE DESIGN OF HE LIGHTING AND GASKET USED TO KEEP IT WATER PROOF THAT CAUSED THIS FAILURE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE PASSENGERS SIDE HEADREST. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND NOTICED THE HEADREST EXPLODED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR A LOCAL MECHANIC FOR REPAIRS OR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000.
WATER POOLING IN TAIL RACER LIGHTS WHEN IT RAINS OR GOES THROUGH TOUCHLESS CAR WASHES.
REAR CENTER TAILLIGHT SHORTED OUT DUE TO WATER LEAKING IN DUE TO MANUFACTURING DEFECT.
PASSENGER SIDE HEADREST DEPLOYED WHILE OPERATING VEHICLE. THERE WAS HEADREST DAMAGE IN THE PROCESS, MAKING THE FASTENER UNREPAIRABLE. I DO NOT SEE A CURRENT OPEN RECALL ON THIS ISSUE, EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE ONLINE.
WATER IN TAIL LIGHT CAUSING LIGHTS TO NOT WORK
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE CAR WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE AND THE ENGINE HAD TURNED OFF. ALL ELECTRICAL INDICATIONS WERE NORMAL AND NO WARNINGS APPEARED. I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AT WHICH POINT THE VEHICLE DISPLAYED THE MESSAGE "SHIFT VEHICLE TO PARK AND RESTART ENGINE." I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE. THIS HAS OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES AT VARYING SPEEDS UNDER VARIOUS CONDITIONS. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP WHO HAD THE VEHICLE FOR 3 DAYS AND WAS UNABLE TO REPRODUCE OR DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE. NO CODES WERE STORED IN THE VEHICLE.
REAR "RACETRACK" CENTER TAIL LIGHT BURNED/MELTED CAUSING DAMAGE TO REAR HATCH,LIGHT,PLASTIC TRIM. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION THROUGH TOWN WITH TWO CHILDREN (AGES 5 & 2) WHEN SMOKE WAS NOTICED IN REAR OF VEHICLE, REAR PLASTIC WAS THEN PULLED/BROKEN OFF TO CHECK THE REAR WHEN THE BURNING/MELTING WAS NOTICED AND WATER POOLING AROUND BOTTOM OF TAIL LIGHT.
I HAVE WATER POOLING IN BOTH SIDES OF MY RACETRACK TAIL LIGHTS WHICH IS CAUSING SECTIONS OF LIGHT TO FAIL. ON TOP OF THAT THEY HAVE GONE OUT COMPLETELY AT TIMES BUT ONE SMALL SECTION HAS NEVER COME BACK.
MECHANIC STATED IT WAS A BAD LIFTER IN ENGINE CAUSEING A TICKING SOUND. AFTER EXTENSIVE RESEARCH ABOUT THIS ISSUE, IT HAS SHOWN ME THAT THIS IS A RECURRING ISSUE WITH ALOT OF YOUR DURANGO MODELS AND ALOT OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS NOT BEING A RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT I HAVE LESS THAN 88,000 MILES ON MY VEHICLE AND OTHERS WITH FAR LESS MILEAGE HAVING ENGINE TROUBLE AND DODGE/CHRYSLER WILL NOT RECALL AND FIX THIS PROBLEM.
DRIVER SIDE HEADREST INADVERTENTLY DEPLOYED WHILE OPERATING VEHICLE. HEADREST FASTENER DAMAGE IN THE PROCESS MAKING THE FASTENER UNREPAIRABLE. DEALER STATES THERE IS NO CURRENT OPEN RECALL ON THIS ISSUE EVEN THOUGH THERE EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE ONLINE.
I AM WRITING TO YOU REGARDING WHAT I CONSIDER TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE WITH MY 2014 DODGE DURANGO. I GOT INTO MY CAR TO GO TO WORK, STARTED THE CAR AND AS IT WAS RUNNING I SMELLED ELECTRICAL BURNING. I LOOKED AROUND THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE CAR. I NOTICED THE REAR TRACK LIGHTS HAD PARTS OF THE LIGHTS THAT WEREN'T LIT UP. I LOOKED CLOSER AND THERE WAS WATER IN THE LIGHTS. WHEN I FIRST VIEWED THE VEHICLE, I LIKED THE ADDED SAFETY FEATURE OF THE BACK BEING LIT. I AM EXPERIENCING CONDENSATION AND WATER COLLECTING INSIDE THE LIGHTS, RESULTING IN THE LIGHTS FAILING. I KNOW THAT MANY OTHER DURANGO OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THIS SAME ISSUE AND HAVE SIMILAR CONCERNS. PLEASE SEE CARPCOMPLAINTS.COM. I AM ASKING THAT DODGE RECOGNIZE THIS MANUFACTURING ISSUE AND DESIGN FLAW, AND HAVE THE TRACKING LIGHTING FIXED, AT NO COST TO THE VEHICLE OWNER. I HAD FIRST CONTACTED MOPAR/DODGE CUSTOMER CARE. THE RESPONSE WAS THAT MY VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND ALSO PAST SOME UNDEFINED 'SMALL WINDOW' WHEN DODGE WOULD ASSIST WITH THE COST OF REPAIR. CUSTOMER CARE REFERENCE #74976328. APPARENTLY DODGE DOES NOT CONSIDER THIS TO BE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. AGAIN, I REFER TO THE HIGH NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS ISSUE THAT ARE EASILY ACCESSIBLE ON-LINE. AND I HAVE ONLY MENTIONED ONE SITE. I WOULD BE INTERESTED TO KNOW HOW MANY SUCH COMPLAINTS DODGE HAS DIRECTLY RECEIVED. THE CUSTOMER CARE EMAIL INDICATES THAT IF DODGE'S 'ON-GOING INTERNAL INVESTIGATIONS' SHOW THIS TO IN FACT BE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT, THEY WILL CONTACT ME. I HAVE NO REASON TO BELIEVE THAT GENERAL 'ON-GOING INTERNAL INVESTIGATIONS' WILL INCLUDE AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE REAR EXTERNAL LIGHT ISSUE. I AM HOPEFUL THAT THIS SAFETY ISSUE WILL BE LOOKED INTO. MY LIFT GATE LAMP ASSEMBLY IS RETAINING WATER WHICH IS CAUSING ELECTRICAL SHORTS IN MY TAIL LIGHTS. THIS IS SAFETY HAZARD IN THE STATE OF HAWAII WHICH CAUSED ME TO FAIL MY SAFETY INSPECTION AND I CANNOT REGISTER MY CAR.
CONTINUED AND PERSISTENT WATER INFILTRATION INTO REAR 'RACETRACK' TAIL LAMP ASSEMBLY. OCCURS DURING ALL SITUATIONS, WHETHER STATIONARY OR DRIVING. WATER CAN BE DRAINED BY REMOVING LAMP MOUNTING BOLTS, BUT DAMAGE TO INTERNAL LAMP HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE AND THIS DOES NOTHING TO PREVENT REOCCURRENCE.
AIRBAG LIGHT IS FLASHING STEMMING FROM AN INTERNAL SHORT CIRCUIT
Rear tail light accumulates water causing a portion of the LED lights to burn out.
