WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT, HEADLIGHTS GO OFF. SOMETIMES WILL COME ON AFTER A FEW SECONDS AND SOMETIMES AFTER TURNING SWITCH OFF AND ON. SOMETIMES THE LIGHTS DO NOT COME BACK ON UNTIL THE CAR IS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED. THIS IS NOT SAFE WHEN YOU ARE TRAVELING 55 MPH WITH OR WITHOUT OTHER CARS ON THE ROAD. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHEN THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR REGULAR MAINTENANCE, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL COLUMN RACK WAS LEAKING POWER STEERING FLUID. THE DEALER ESTIMATED THAT IT WOULD COST $1,000 TO REPLACE THE RACK. THERE WERE NO RECALLS LISTED FOR THE FAILURE. DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ONE MONTH OUT OF WARRANTY, THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE REPAIRS. THE VIN WAS NOT ACCEPTED BY THE SYSTEM. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE LESS THAN 17,274.
IMMEDIATELY AFTER MAKING A RIGHT TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED. THE LOWER SPEED AND ADEQUATE SHOULDER ON THE ROAD ARE THE ONLY THINGS THAT KEPT ME FROM GOING INTO THE DITCH. IT ENDED UP BEING A STEERING GEAR THAT WAS REPLACED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. IT HAS WENT BAD 3 MORE TIMES SINCE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL OF THE DOOR LOCKS STOPPED WORKING IN HER VEHICLE FOUR MONTHS AGO. SHE CALLED THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT A DIAGNOSTIC WOULD COST $300. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THE COMPUTER IN THE DOOR LOCKS NEEDED TO BE RESET. THE FAILURE HAS RECENTLY RECURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,950.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LINE ON HER VEHICLE HAS RUPTURED AT LEAST THREE TIMES WITHIN THE PAST EIGHT MONTHS. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE BRAKES FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY A MECHANIC WITH PARTS PURCHASED FROM THE DODGE DEALER. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN REPAIRED THREE TIMES FOR THIS FAILURE AND THE CONTACT IS CURRENTLY TOO AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURES OCCUR WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,500.
I HAVE A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE AIR BAG LIGHT STARTED COMING ON WHEN I WAS DRIVING. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM CHRYSLER INDICATING THAT THE FRONT AIRBAG SENSORS MAY CRACK AND THEY WILL BE COVERED UNDER A LIFETIME WARRANTY. HOWEVER WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO A DEALER THEY SAID THE CLOCKSPRING MECHANISM WAS BAD AND NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY AND IT WOULD COST $250 DOLLARS TO REPLACE. IN ADDITION I HAD TO PAY $85.00 FOR THE DIAGNOSIS WHICH WAS RECOMMENDED BY CHRYSLER. I AM CONVINCED THAT MY SENSORS ARE DEFECTIVE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE INDICATOR REMAINED LIT UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND THEY STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY CORROSION IN THE WIRE CONNECTOR AND THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE IMPACT SENSOR. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V192000 (AIRBAGS,FRONTAL,SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE), ALTHOUGH THE FAILURES WERE IDENTICAL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 71,800. UPDATED 05/05/09 *BF THE DRIVERS SIDE SLIDING DOOR WAS DIFFICULT TO OPEN MANUALLY AND THE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR DID NOT OPEN ALL THE WAY. UPDATED 05/07/09. *JB
THE DOOR LOCKS STOPED WORKING WITH THE REMOTE OR INSIDE BUTTON. HAPPENED TWICE IN TWO WEEKS AND I UNDERSTAND IT WILL BE RECURRING. RE-BOOTED COMPUTER. *TR
AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON. THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE COVERED BY RECALL CAMPAIGN 07V192000 NHTSA ACTION EA06003 BUT MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED 4 MONTHS PASSED THE END OF THE RECALL.THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS EXACTLY WHAT THE RECALL ISSUE IS. *TR
THE POWER LOCKS ON THIS VEHICLE STOPPED WORKING CORRECTLY. I HAVE LOOKED ONLINE AND MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD HAVE TO PAY TO FIX THIS ISSUE. THE ONLY FIX IS TO HAVE THE COMPUTER REFLASHED AT A DEALER AT A COST OF AROUND $400. I HAVE LOCKED MYSELF OUT OF MY VEHICLE A FEW TIMES BECAUSE THE DOOR LOCKS WILL JUST INTERMITTENLY LOCK FOR NO REASON OR IF YOU PUT THE WINDOWS DOWN, THE DOORS WILL LOCK. IT IS A MESS. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS FLAW WITH THE MANUFACTURING OF THE VEHICLE AND THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD HAVE TO FIX IT. *TR

WHEN THE BATTERY IS DISCONNECTED FOR A FEW MINUTES AND THEN RECONNECTED, THE POWER LOCKS STILL DID NOT WORK. THE COMPUTER MUST BE REPROGRAMMED IN ORDER FOR THE LOCKS TO WORK AGAIN. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD REPAIR THE FAILURE AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE CONTACT HAS RESEARCHED SEVERAL COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE SAME FAILURE THAT HE IS EXPERIENCING. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 41,000.
I HAVE A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. IT HAS POWER DOOR LOCKS. THE LOCKS WILL NOT OPERATE FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE OR FROM THE KEYCHAIN. NOT BEING ABLE TO LOCK AND UNLOCK THIS VEHICLE MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT WITH TWO YOUNG CHILDREN. THE SAFETY FEATURE THAT LOCKS THE DOORS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS GOING OVER 18 MPH IS ALSO NOT WORKING. THE ONLY DOORS THAT HAS KEY UNLOCK ARE THE DRIVER DOOR AND THE REAR DOOR. I HAVE FOUND A WEBSITE THAT HAS MANY OTHERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED. THE DOORS FAIL TO LOCK AT 18 MPH, AND UPON EXITING THE CAR WITH THE KEY FOB. IT OCCURS RANDOMLY, CONSEQUENCES ARE THE DOORS ARE NOT LOCKED WHILE DRIVING (YOU CAN'T LOCK IT), AND WHEN YOU LEAVE THE CAR, THE DOORS ARE UNLOCKED. REMOVING AND REPLACING THE IOD FUSE SEEMS TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM FOR A PERIOD OF TIME. *TR

AUTO PURCHASED AUG 2005. INCIDENT BEGAN OCCURRING IN EARLY 2009. AUTOMATIC AND REMOTE DOOR LOCKS DO NOT WORK ON 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. REMOVING AND REPLACING 20A IOD FUSE CORRECTS THE PROBLEM FOR A SHORT WHILE (1 DAY TO 1 WEEK), BUT THE ISSUE ALWAYS RECURS. WHEN THE DOOR LOCK IS INOPERATIVE, THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCK AT 19 MPH FEATURE ALSO DOES NOT WORK. *TR
SWAY BAR LINKS AND BUSHINGS WENT OUT AND THE CAR IS ONLY 52,000 MILES OLD. I HAVE HEARD THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. THE DEALER TOLD ME IT WASN'T DANGEROUS BUT IT SURE FEELS THAT WAY. THEY TOLD ME IT ISN'T COVERED UNDER MY SERVICE WARRANTY AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OVER $400 EVEN THOUGH I HAVE A SERVICE CONTRACT. CHECK AIR BAG LIGHT KEPT COMING ON AND OFF. CHECK AIR BAG LIGHT CONSISTENTLY STAYED ON. CHECKED INTERNET FOR RECALLS. FOUND NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID #07V192000. HOWEVER, OUR VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED AS PART OF THE RECALL. TOOK VEHICLE IN TO HAVE IT INSPECTED. TECHNICIAN FOUND NO LEFT IMPACT SENSOR COMMUNICATION. SENSOR WAS REPLACED AND WIRING WAS REPAIRED. TECHNICIAN CONFIRMED THAT THE SENSOR COMPONENT HAD BRASS BUSHINGS AS NOTED IN THE RECALL. WE HAVE THE PART IN QUESTION. CHRYSLER WAS THEN CONTACTED AT 1-800-853-1403 AND INFORMED OF THE PROBLEM. CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE WOULD NOT AGREE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR AS STATED IN THE RECALL. WE WERE TOLD TO CONTACT CHRYSLER 'S REIMBURSEMENT CENTER REGARDING OUR CASE #318265532 FOR THE LEFT SENSOR. WE ARE FILING THIS COMPLAINT TO INFORM YOU THAT OUR VEHICLE IS AFFECTED AND SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE RIGHT SENSOR HAS THE SAME BRASS BUSHINGS AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, AS THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
THE POWER DOOR LOCKS ON OUR 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN SXT STOPPED WORKING, INCLUDING THE AUTO-LOCK FEATURE WHEN THE VEHICLE HITS 20 MPH. THE INTERNAL POWER LOCKS DID NOT WORK AND USING THE REMOTE TO LOCK OR UNLOCK THE VEHICLE ALSO DID NOT WORK. THE INTERNAL AUTO SIDE DOOR OPENER MOUNTED WITH THE INFORMATION CENTER DID NOT WORK AS WELL AS THE CHIMES THAT SOUND WHEN THE KEY IS IN THE IGNITION AND THE DRIVER'S DOOR IS OPEN. AFTER SEARCHING THE INTERNET, I FOUND THAT PULLING THE OID FUSE FOR 5 SECONDS HAD WORKED FOR A LARGE NUMBER OF OTHER PEOPLE WHO ALL HAVE ENCOUNTERED THIS PROBLEM. PULLING AND REINSERTING THE FUSE HAS CORRECTED THE PROBLEM FOR THE TIME BEING. AIR BAG LAMP ON CLOCK SPRING WAS REPLACED 10/31/07 AIR BAG LAMP ON CLOCK SPRING WAS REPLACED 12/15/08 WAS BEYOND 12 MONTH 12,000 MILE WARRANTY. *TR
MY 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN HAS BEEN STALLING AFTER FILLING UP THE GAS TANK. IT HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE MID DEC. 2008. I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG (NO CODES IN THE CAR COMPUTER). THEY INCREASED THE IDLE. IT ONLY HESITATED AFTER I FILLED IT UP AFTER THEY INCREASED THE IDLE, BUT IT HAS STALLED THE LAST 2 FILL UPS SINCE THEN. IT HAS STALLED WHILE TRYING TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND WHILE STOPPING OR SLOWING DOWN. *TR

AFTER I MADE IT TO THE HIGHWAY WHICH IS PLOWED. THE AIRBAG LIGHT NEVER CAME OFF. TOOK IT IN FOR REPAIR AND IT WAS THE PASSENGER AIR BAG. THIS YEAR THE SAME THING HAPPENED, THE SQUEAL AND AFTER A TRIP TO REPAIR A EVG SENSOR THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT I NOW HAVE THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG SENSORS ARE CORRODED. I DO HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WHICH DOES NOT COVER THIS "ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE" AND A COMPLAINT TO DODGE'S 800# [XXX] DECLARED IT ALSO AN "ENVIRONMENTAL" ISSUE NOT COVERED! [XXX] SAID THAT I SHOULD CONTACT THE ROAD COMMISSION AS THEY ARE THE ONES THAT PUT THE SALT ON THE ROAD. I HAVE NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEMS AS I DON'T BELIEVE IT IS AN EXPENSE THAT I SHOULD PAY FOR. I BOUGHT THE VAN IN 2005 WITH AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT WAS TO COVER ALL. I DID SOME RESEARCH ON CHRYSLER'S PAST RECALLS ON AIRBAG SENSOR AND BELIEVE THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THEIR PRODUCTS AND THE WAY THEY ARE INSTALLED. *TR
HEADLIGHTS TURN OFF INTERMITTENTLY DURING OPERATION. THIS IS VERY DISCONCERTING AND DANGEROUS. DRIVER MUST FLIP THE LIGHT SWITCH MULTIPLE TIMES TO BRING THE LIGHTS BACK ON. THE FREQUENCY OF THIS PROBLEM HAS INCREASED RECENTLY. I FEEL THAT THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE AND UNRELIABLE. RECENTLY, THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD NOT COME BACK ON AND WE HAD TO DRIVE HOME USING THE FOG LAMPS. *TR

2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN DOOR LOCKS, FUSE REPLACED, IOD FUSE PULLED TO RESET SYSTEM BUT IS SHORT LIVED ONLY WORKED FOR A DAY. THIS VEHICLE HAS 55,000 MILES. MOST OF THE VEHICLES HAVE THIS PROBLEM AFTER 40,000 MILES.THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD WITH NO REAL FIX. IT WAS SAID THAT I MIGHT NEED A SOFTWARE UPGRADE -IF THAT'S THE CASE IT SHOULD BE A RECALL DO TO A MALFUNCTION NOT WARE AND TEAR. THE DOOR LOCKS DO NOT WORK, REGARDLESS OF KEY LESS ENTRY OR THE SWITCH ON THE DOOR PANELS. THIS SHOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM WHEN ALL THE FUSE HAVE BEEN CHECK AND REPLACED OR ARE GOOD. *TR
CAR JUST STOPS RUNNING AND ENGINE SHUTS OFF AS YOU ARE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. LIGHTS STAY ON BUT ALL POWER IS LOST. GAS TANK IS FULL BUT GAS GAUGE READS EMPTY. YOU PULL OVER AND IT STARTS RIGHT UP AND RUNS JUST FINE. *TR
VAN STARTED TO MAKE A LOUD SOUND FROM THE ENGINE AREA. TOOK THE VAN IN TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG, FIRST GARAGE COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM IN NOVEMBER. TOOK THE VAN IN AGAIN 12/21/08 AND THEY IDENTIFIED THAT THE RACK AND PINION WAS GOING OUT AND LEAKING FLUID. THAT WAS MAKING THE NOISE. WAS INFORMED THAT THIS IS NOT A COMMON REPAIR AND IT IS UNUSUAL FOR THIS TYPE OF REPAIR TO HAVE TO BE DONE ON A VEHICLE THAT GETS REGULAR MAINTENANCE AND HAS NEVER BEEN IN ANY KIND OF ACCIDENT. THE MECHANIC SAID HE HAD SEEN SEVERAL OF THE SAME VEHICLE WITH SAME PROBLEM. IT APPEARS TO BE A MANUFACTURER DEFECT IN THE BUILD OF THE RACK AND PINION SYSTEM. *TR
THE DOOR LOCKS OPEN OR CLOSE FROM THE SWITCHES OR THE SMART KEY BUTTONS. THEY ALSO DO NOT LOCK AT TWENTY MPH AS DESIGNED. THIS DUE TO A KNOWN FAILURE OF THE BODY CONTROLLER IN THE VEHICLE, HOWEVER THE DEALERS I HAVE SPOKEN TO SAY 'YES', THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT CONSISTENTLY COMES UP AFTER WARRANTY PERIODS. THIS FAILURE PUTS THE OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLE (MINI VAN) AT RISK WHEN LOCKS DON'T WORK AS DESIGNED, ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THAT THE VAN ONLY CAN UNLOCKED WITH THE KEY AT THE DRIVER'S DOOR. *TR
THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS AND POWER DOORS ON MY 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN QUIT WORKING SPORADICALLY. THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE WITH MY 3 SMALL CHILDREN BECAUSE THE LOCKS HAVE TO BE MANUALLY LOCKED AND THE DOORS OFTEN STAY UNLOCKED OR WILL NOT OPEN FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE. DEALERS HAS NO ANSWER, SAYS COMPUTER SHOWS NO EVENTS ALTHOUGH THIS HAS HAPPENED 8-10 TIMES OVER PAST YEAR. *TR
MULTIPLE ELECTRICAL FAILURES. BACKUP LIGHTS, DOOR LOCKS, INTERIOR LIGHTS, RIGHT SIDE POWER WINDOW, AND SLIDING SIDE DOORS. THE ITEMS DO NOT FUNCTION ON OUR VAN. UPON PULLING THE BATTERY TERMINAL THESE ITEMS WILL WORK FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME AND THEN CEASE TO FUNCTION AGAIN. AFTER EXTENSIVE RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLAR IN DEALER "REPAIRS" I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS DUE TO A SOFTWARE PROBLEM WITH THE BODY CONTROL MODULE ON THE 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVANS. THE FIX IS SUPPOSED TO BE A FIRMWARE UPDATE TO THE BCM PROVIDED BY DODGE. THE ISSUE I HAVE IS THAT IF THIS IS A SOFTWARE/FIRMWARE UPDATE TO THE VAN'S COMPUTER WHY SHOULD THE DEALER EXPECT ME TO PAY $70 SO MY VEHICLE WILL FUNCTION PROPERLY THE SAME AS IT DID WHEN PURCHASED. NO MODIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN MADE TO THE VAN AND IT CURRENTLY HAS JUST OVER 60K MILEAGE. THESE PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN AROUND PRIOR THE END OF THE 3/36K WARRANTY BUT SINCE SUCH A LONG TIME HAS PASSED THE DEALER WILL NO LONGER HONOR ANY TYPE OF WARRANTY ON THIS VEHICLE. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT IF THIS IS A KNOWN SOFTWARE ISSUE/FAULT WITH THE VAN'S SOFTWARE THEN DODGE SHOULD UPGRADE THEM FOR FREE. IT'S NOT AS IF THIS IS A WEAR AND TEAR OR CUSTOMER INDUCED FAILURE. THE LOCKS ON MY 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN NO LONGER WORK. I AM READING FORUM AFTER FORUM AND EVERYONE WITH THIS YEAR MODEL IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. THEY ARE SAYING THAT DODGE DEALERSHIPS ARE HAVING TO REPLACE THE BODY CONTROL MODULE AND SOME ARE HAVING TO BE REFLASHED. THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM, BECAUSE THE LIGHTS FLASH AND YOU ARE UNAWARE THAT YOUR CAR IS NOT BEING LOCKED. IT IS OPEN AND VULNERABLE FOR ALL TO ENTER. 2005 SXT DODGE CARAVAN POWER DOOR LOCK FAILURE, AFTER 1 MINUTE ON THE WEB I HAVE FOUND PEOPLE WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AS I, TO THE TEE! THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A PROBLEM WITH THE MANUFACTURE AND SOFTWARE/FIRMWARE. DODGE HAS A FIX. WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN RECALLED YET? SUCH A SIMPLE FIX OF A FIRMWARE UPGRADE WOULD SAVE MANY HOURS OF FRUSTRATION. I AM VERY UPSET THAT THIS PROBLEM IS SO WELL KNOW AND HAS HAPPENED EXACTLY THE SAME WAY TO OTHERS AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO RIGHT THE PROBLEM. THE POWER LOCKS DO NOT WORK FOR THE DRIVER AND ALL PASSENGER DOORS. THEY WILL NOT WORK WITH EITHER THE REMOTE OR THE INTERIOR LOCK SWITCH OR AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE OVER THE RESET LOCK MPH OF 20. ONLY THE REAR TAIL GATE LOCK IS FUNCTIONAL. THIS ISSUE STARTED APPROXIMATELY OCTOBER OF 2008 AND CONTINUES. DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY AND RECONNECTED AFTER APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES WILL GET THE LOCKS TO WORK AGAIN BUT ONLY FOR THE TIME BEING. THE POWER LOCKS MAY STOP WORKING AGAIN WITHIN A COUPLE OF HOURS OR COUPLE OF WEEKS. MY MECHANIC STATED THAT A REFLASH MAY WORK BUT THE PROBLEM HAS A HISTORY OF COMING BACK AFTER THE $175 REFLASH. A NEW BCM COSTS $500 AND THAT MAY NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM EITHER. BECAUSE OF THE HIGH RATE OF LOCK FAILURE FOR THIS VEHICLE AND THE SAFETY ISSUE HERE (A KEY HOLE IS ONLY PROVIDED ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR MEANING PEOPLE NEED TO STAND IN BUSY STREETS OR PARKING LOTS WHILE DRIVER OPENS HIS DOOR AND THEN CLIMBS THROUGH THE INTERIOR TO PULL UP THE BUTTONS FOR OTHERS TO ENTER AS WELL AS LOCK NOT LOCKING WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION) I FEEL A RECALL IS NEEDED TO BE ISSUED FOR THIS POWER LOCK PROBLEM. MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION THIS MORNING (WELL BEYOND HOME AND THE POINT WHERE THE AUTOLOCKS SUPPOSEDLY ENGAGED) WHEN MY 2-YEAR OLD MANAGED TO PUSH THE SIDE DOOR RELEASE BUTTON WITH A TOY AND THE DOOR STARTED TO SLIDE OPEN. THE CHILD SAFETY LOCK INDICATOR TAB ON THE DOOR INDICATED THE CHILD SAFETY LOCK WAS ENGAGED. UPON ARRIVAL AT WORK, I GOOGLED THIS AND FOUND MULTIPLE REPORTS OF FAILING LOCKS. I WALKED OUT TO MY CAR TO FIND IT UNLOCKED, DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE HORN HAD SOUNDED INDICATING THE VEHICLE WAS LOCKED. I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO LOCK THE LIFT GATE, SO IT APPEARS TO ME AS IF MY CAR IS PERMANENTLY UNLOCKED. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN WHEN THE DOOR CAN BE TRIGGERED IN MOTION OR SOMEONE COULD ENTER MY CAR THROUGH THE LIFT GATE. WITH ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS OUT THERE - HOW IS THERE NOT AT LEAST A TSB ON THIS ITEM? THIS IS DISGRACEFUL GIVEN THE DEMOGRAPHIC DRIVING THE GRAND CARAVAN. I GUESS WE WANT TO WAIT FOR A CHILD TO FALL OUT IN TRANSIT OR SOMEONE TO BE CARJACKED, RAPED, OR KILLED? *TR
POWER DOOR LOCKS FAIL TO LOCK AUTOMATICALLY WHEN CAR ACCELERATES AFTER BEING PARKED. THIS CREATES A HAZARD FOR CHILDREN WHO ARE RIDING IN VEHICLE. *TR REMOTE LOCK/UNLOCK FUNCTION ALSO INOPERABLE. ADDITIONALLY, WHEN USING REMOTE KEY FOB TO LOCK VEHICLE AFTER PARKING, IT RESPONDS WITH A HORN HONK INDICATING THAT DOORS HAVE BEEN LOCKED WHEN IN FACT THEY DO NOT LOCK. ISSUE CAN BE CORRECTED BUT IT WILL RETURN WITHIN HOURS TO WEEKS LATER. INTERNET SEARCHES SHOW THAT THIS IS AN EXTREMELY FREQUENT AND COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS MODEL VEHICLE.

POWER LOCKS STOPPED WORKING. DISCONNECTING BATTERY FOOT 30 MINUTES WILL RESET THE COMPUTER AND THE LOCKS WILL AGAIN WORK FOR ABOUT A MONTH AND THE PROBLEM RECURS. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM. *TR
MY 2005 GRAND CARAVAN HAD THE AIR BAG INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE 2 FRONT SENSORS, EXPLAINING THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO CORROSION (SAME AS NHTSA ACTION NUMBER PE05061). HE SAID THAT ALTHOUGH THIS WAS THE SAME PROBLEM AS WITH THE RECALL, THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT A COVERED VEHICLE. NOTE THIS IS A HIGH ROAD SALT USAGE AREA. AFTER READING THROUGH SOME OF THE COMPLAINTS ON THIS VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY THOSE WHERE THERE WERE INJURIES DUE TO NON-AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT, I WORRY FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY. IT MAKES ME WONDER IF THE MANUFACTURER CARES IF PEOPLE ARE INJURED DUE TO SAFETY FEATURE MALFUNCTIONS. *TR
RADIO WAS REPLACED. INTERMITTENT FAILURE OF ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WHILE DRIVING STARTED AFTER REPLACEMENT. THE ONLY PATTERN TO EVENTS IS THEY START WITH APPLICATION OF THE BRAKES. ALL OF THE GAUGES GYRATE POST TO POST, THE RADIO SHUTS OFF AND RESTARTS AND THE DASH LIGHTS AND HEADLIGHTS FLICKER. THE CAR EVENTUALLY DIES AND WILL NOT RESTART UNTIL SEVERAL MINUTES HAVE PAST. AFTER RESTARTING , THE DASH LIGHTS CONTINUE TO FLICKER FOR A PERIOD OF TIME. I HAVE TAKEN THE VAN TO THE RADIO INSTALLER, TWO INDEPENDENT MECHANICS AND A DODGE DEALER. NO ONE CAN DUPLICATE OR FIX THE PROBLEM. THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED MY WIFE WAS ON THE FREEWAY WHEN AN INCIDENT STARTED. IT CREATED A DANGEROUS SITUATION AS SHE TRIED TO EXIT THE FREEWAY IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. SHE WAS ABLE TO EXIT, BUT THE VAN DIED ON THE OFFRAMP AND BLOCKED TRAFFIC. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS THE VAN STARTED AND SHE WAS ABLE TO COMPLETE EXITING THE FREEWAY. *TR
THE OIL LIGHT WENT ON. I CONTACTED DEALER, THEY ADVISED ME I NEED AN OIL CHANGE. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE NEXT AVAILABLE TIME WHICH WAS A WEEK AWAY. I CALLED BACK NEXT DAY COMPLAINING OF A KNOCKING I HEARD. THEY FINALLY ADVISED ME TO GET THE VAN TO DEALER AND THEY WILL RENT A CAR FOR ME. I CHECKED THE OIL. IT WAS FULL. MY WIFE DROVE IT TO DEALER IN THE MORNING. THERE WAS NO OIL IN MOTOR. THE DEALER CLAIMS I AM RESPONSIBLE SINCE I DID NOT CHANGE THE OIL IN 6 MONTHS AND 7000 MILES. CHRYSLER RUDELY DENIES COVERAGE EVEN THOUGH I AM UNDER WARRANTY, I PURCHASED THE CAR MARCH 2008 WITH 35000 MILES OR SO..IT HAS BEEN IN FOR SERVICE BEFORE FOR A REPLACEMENT OF RACK AND PINION SYSTEM AND AN ENGINE LIGHT INCIDENT. *TR

THE AUTO LOCKING MECHANISM STOPPED WORKING ON MY 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE AUTO LOCK NOW ONLY WORKS ON THE BACK HATCH DOOR. THERE ARE ONLY TWO MANUAL KEY HOLES, ONE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND ONE ON THE BACK HATCH. THE DOORS DO NOT LOCK AUTOMATICALLY AT 20 MPH, PRESSING THE INTERIOR LOCK BUTTON DOES NOTHING, USING THE KEY FOB LOCK BUTTON DOES NOTHING. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, WE CHANGED THE RELAY SWITCH, AND THAT SEEMED TO FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT NOW IT IS OCCURRING AGAIN. I CHECKED OUT THIS PROBLEM AND IT SEEMS TO BE PERVASIVE ON THIS MODEL, THEREFORE, I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND SHOULD EITHER BE COVERED BY THE WARRANTY OR A RECALL ISSUED FOR THE COMPUTER UPGRADE THAT IS NEEDED. CONSUMERS SHOULD NOT BE FORCED TO COMPENSATE FOR CHRYSLER'S LACK OF QUALITY IN THIS AREA. I ALSO BELIEVE THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, ESPECIALLY SINCE THE MAJORITY OF VAN OWNERS ARE PARENTS OF SMALL CHILDREN WHO WOULD BE AT RISK IN THIS SITUATION. HOWEVER, TO THIS POINT, CHRYSLER HAS IRRESPONSIBLY REFUSED TO ISSUE A RECALL. PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO RESEARCH THE NUMBER OF FAILURES FOR YOURSELF AND TAKE APPROPRIATE ACTION TO PROTECT CONSUMERS OF THE 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THANKS. *TR
