POWER STEERING MAKES GRINDING NOISE. THE NOISE DOESN'T HAPPEN ALL THE TIME USUALLY WHEN DRIVEN ALOT. TOOK IT TO DEALER THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANY PROBLEM. I LOOKED ONLINE AND READ THAT THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. *TR
POWER DOOR LOCKS FAIL TO OPERATE. REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY FAILS TO OPERATE. POWER LIFT DOORS FAIL TO OPERATE. SIMPLE DISCONNECT OF BATTERY FIXES ISSUE TEMPORARILY. KEYLESS ENTRY HONKS HORN AS IF IT'S LOCKING, BUT NO DOORS LOCK. *TR
THE LOCKS ON MY 2005 DODGE CARAVAN STOP WORKING. AFTER SEARCHING ON THE INTERNET FOR A FIX OR OTHER PEOPLE WITH THIS PROBLEM, THEY SUGGESTED PULLING THE IOD FUSE FOR 20 SECONDS AND REPLACING THE FUSE. I DID SO AND IT FIXED THE PROBLEM FOR TODAY. I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS WILL CONTINUNE TO FIX THE PROBLEM OR NOT BUT IT LOOKS LIKE A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I WOULD LIKE TO FILE THIS COMPLAINT SO A RECAL WILL BE ISSUED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. JUST PULLING THE FUSE WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM PERMANENTLY. THANK YOU
THE POWER LOCKS AND REMOTE LOCK ON MY 2005 GRAND CARAVAN QUIT WORKING. I WENT TO A PARTS STORE AND WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT A FUSE. I CALLED CAR DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD POWER LOCK SWITCH PROBABLY NEEDED REPLACING AND WOULD RUN OVER $100.00. I GOOGLED MY PROBLEM AND READ NUMEROUS ACCOUNTS OF MY EXACT PROBLEM. TRIED THEIR SOLUTION AND IT WORKED PERFECTLY AND WAS FREE! I LOCATED THE IOD 20 AMP FUSE IN MY CAR'S FUSE BOX AND UNPLUGGED IT FOR FIVE SECONDS. THIS IS SUPPOSED TO RESET LOCKS. IT WORKED PERFECTLY AND NOW ALL MY LOCKS WORK GOOD AS NEW! THIS WAS A VERY ANNOYING PROBLEM AS MY CARAVAN ONLY HAS ONE KEYED LOCK ON DRIVER'S DOOR. I THINK THIS ITEM NEEDS TO BE RECALLED IF IT IS SUCH A PROBLEM FOR SO MANY CAR OWNERS. *TR
OUR USED 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN WORKED PERFECTLY FOR ABOUT A YEAR UNTIL STRANGE THINGS STARTED TO HAPPEN TO THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THE VAN WILL LOSS ALL POWER, JUST LIKE REMOVING THE BATTERY, A FEW TIMES A WEEK AND IT REMAINS DEAD FOR ABOUT 60 SECONDS. ALSO PERIODICALLY, THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER GAUGES WILL ACT CRAZY, THE ODOMETER WILL PULSATE AS WELL AS THE HEADLIGHTS, THE SIDE ELECTRONIC DOORS WILL CEASE TO FUNCTION AND ABOUT TWICE ALL ELECTRONICS IN THE VEHICLE DIED EXCEPT THE ODOMETER YET THE CAR WAS RUNNING NORMALLY. I HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY, ALTERNATOR, IGNITION SWITCH AND BODY CONTROL MODULE ' ALL TO NO AVAIL. THE VAN IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO THE 60 SECOND BLACKOUTS THAT CAN HAPPEN WITHOUT ANY NOTICE. THERE ARE A LOT OF INTERNET COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS YEAR AND MODEL ' DODGE NEEDS TO SOLVE THIS CRIPPLING PROBLEM. *TR
DRIVER SIDE DOOR LOCK STOPPED WORKING. BOTH POWER SIDE DOORS STOP WORKING. *TR
THERE WAS NO SPECIFIC EVENT THAT LEAD TO THIS FAILURE. THE FAILURE IS WITH THE POWER LOCK SYSTEM ON THE 2005 DODGE CARAVAN. THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY ONE MANUAL ENTRY POINT ON THE DRIVERS DOOR . IF THE DOOR IS DAMAGED IN AN ACCIDENT EGRESS FROM THE VEHICLE COULD BE IMPEDED AND RESULT IN ADDITIONAL INJURIES OR DEATHS. TO CORRECT THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. ALLEGED SOFTWARE PROBLEMS THAT REQUIRE THE SYSTEM TO BE "RESET". THIS DOES NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM, IT JUST RESETS THE SYSTEM UNTIL IT FAILS AGAIN. *TR
NORMAL DRIVING, VEHICLE HAS BEEN INVOLVED IN NO ACCIDENTS. AT ABOUT 34,000 MILES ON VEHICLE, AND 3 AND A HALF YEARS OLD, AIRBAG LIGHT ON DASH STARTED ILLUMINATING. WOULD TURN OFF SOMETIMES, BUT USUALLY STAYED ON. DEALER DIAGNOSED FAILURE OF "CLOCKSPRING" IN STEERING COLUMN, WHICH HAD TO BE REPLACED AT COST OF ABOUT $250.00. *TR
WHILE ON A TRIP TO ATTEND A WEDDING IN GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN, WE EXPERIENCED A SIDEWALL BLOWOUT OF A BRIDGESTONE TURANZA EL42 (21565R16 98T) ON OUR 2006 DODGE CARAVAN. THE BLOWOUT OCCURRED PULLING INTO A PARKING PLACE AT A LOW ANGLE, AT A LOW SPEED, AND WITH A RELATIVELY LOW CURB HEIGHT' JUST PULLING IN AT WALKING SPEED. THIS IS THE SECOND BRIDGESTONE TURANZA EL42 THAT HAS BEEN REPLACED ON A CAR THAT HAD 13,278 MILES ON THE ODOMETER AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. THE LAST ROUTINE SERVICE (12,000 MILES) WAS AT 10,970 MILES. THE FIRST REPLACEMENT WAS ON 5 NOVEMBER 2007 WITH 7,107 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. THIS TIRE HAD A PRONOUNCED SIDEWALL BUBBLE AND WAS CLEARLY 'AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN.' IT WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER, MARTY CANCILA DODGE, AT OUR EXPENSE DESPITE THE 'TIRES FOR LIFE SERVICE PLAN' AND EXTENDED WARRANTY WE HAVE ON THE AUTOMOBILE. AT THIS POINT, WE PURCHASED A TIRE SAFETY WARRANTY EXPECTING, OF COURSE, MORE DIFFICULTIES WITH THESE TIRES. UNWILLING TO TRUST NEITHER MY SAFETY NOR THE SAFETY OF ANY OF MY PASSENGERS, I PROCEEDED TO PURCHASE TWO NEW TIRES. I COULD NOT OBTAIN TWO BRIDGESTONE TURANZA TIRES IN THE GRAND RAPIDS, MI, AREA SO I PURCHASED TWO MICHELIN'S OF THE SAME SIZE AND SIMILAR TREAD PATTERN. I DROVE THE CAR HOME WITH THE TURANZAS ON THE FRONT BUT WILL HAVE THE MICHELIN'S SWITCHED TO THE FRONT TO REDUCE THE PROBABILITY OF DEATH, DISMEMBERMENT, OR OTHER PAIN AND SUFFERING DUE TO TIRE FAILURE. TO GET SOME SENSE OF THE PROBLEM WITH THE TURANZA TIRE, I HAVE INCLUDED A RECALL NOTICE THAT I FOUND AT THE FOLLOWING WEB SITE: HTTP://WWW.USAUTOINJURYLAW.COM/CASES/TIRES/FAILUREFIRESTONE.HTM: BRIDGESTONE TURANZA EL41, P19565R15. THE EL42 MAY BE A RENAMED EL41 WHICH WAS NOTORIOUS FOR BLOWOUTS AND IS NOW A SUBJECT OF A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. IN OTHER WORDS, LIPSTICK MAY NOT TRANSFORM A PIG IT TO A PRINCESS. I KEPT THE FAILED TIRE AND ACTUALLY CARRY THE OTHER TIRE IN THE CAR TO HAVE A REPLACEMENT READILY AVAILABLE. *TR
ELECTRIC LOCKS ON 2005 DODGE CARAVAN QUIT WORKING. AFTER READING FORUMS, FOUND OUT THAT IF YOU PULL A FUSE AND REPLACE IT AFTER FIVE SECONDS, IT WORKS AGAIN. FOR MOST THE PROBLEM RETURNS WITHIN DAYS. READ THAT THEIR WAS A FIRMWARE PROBLEM IN THE VEHICLES COMPUTER THAT NEEDED TO BE UPGRADED FOR A PRICE. WITH THE ELECTRIC LOCKS NOT WORKING, AND WHEN DRIVING, THE LOCKS WILL NOT LOCK AT 19 MPH AS DESIGNED, CAUSING WHAT I BELIEVE TO BE AN UNSAFE CONDITION. I BELIEVE IT IS UNFAIR, AND NOT TO MENTION UNSAFE, FOR THE CONSUMER TO HAVE TO PAY FOR A SERVICE THAT SHOULD BE A RECALL. *TR
MY 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN HAS 77000 MILES ON IT. LAST WEEK I FOUND OUT THAT THE POWER DOOR LOCKS DOES NOT WORK. BY DOING AN ONLINE SEARCH IT SEAMS LIKE A LARGE NUMBER OF DODGE GRAND CARAVAN OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE. I FEEL LIKE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IT IS NOT EASY TO LOCK/UNLOCK DOORS SPECIALLY WHEN YOU HAVE YOUNG CHILDREN. *TR
RACK AND PINION ON 2005 DODGE CARAVAN - NOTICED MANY OTHERS HAVE SAME COMPLAINT. INTERNAL SEAL ON ASSEMBLY IS WEARING OUT AROUND 65000. MUST REPLACE ENTIRE RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY. HOW MANY BEFORE RECALL? *TR
POWER DOOR LOCKS FAILED. PULLED THE IOD FUSE TO RESET THE LOCKS AND IT WORKED FOR ABOUT A WEEK. I'M NOW PULLING THIS DAILY TO GET IT TO WORK PROPERLY. A DANGER TO ME AND MY FAMILY AS IT LEAVES THE DOOR OPEN AT TIMES AND YOU ARE UNABLE TO LOCK THE BACK DOOR WHEN IT FAILS (THERE IS NO MANUAL LOCK FOR THE BACK). *TR
ONE DAY THE POWER LOCKS JUST STOPPED WORKING WITH BOTH THE KEY AND DOOR BUTTONS. IT IS PERMANENT AND BECAUSE THIS IS A KEYLESS ENTRY VEHICLE THE DOOR CAN ONLY BE UNLOCKED VIA THE KEYHOLE ON THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. DOORS MUST BE LOCKED AND UNLOCKED MANUALLY. IT IS DIFFICULT FOR MY SCHOOL AGED CHILDREN TO UNLOCK THEIR OWN DOORS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR MY CHILDREN IF THEY NEEDED TO QUICKLY EXIT THE VEHICLE. DODGE IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND SAYS IT NEEDS A SOFTWARE UPDATE. THEY ARE NOT COVERING THIS DESIGN FLAW/FAILURE AS IT IS NOT A POWERTRAIN PROBLEM. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 62000 MILES ON IT. MY 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN, THE POWER LOCKS STOPPED WORKING. PER SOME SEARCHES ON THE INTERNET THE DODGE CARAVAN NEEDS A SOFTWARE UPDATE TO ALLOW THE AUTO POWER LOCKS TO WORK. THEY SELL IT FOR $150-$200 WHEN IT SHOULD BE FREE BECAUSE OF AN ERROR IN DODGES SOFTWARE. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 2 KEYED LOCKS TO OPEN FROM ETERNALLY. IT IS A DANGER WITH YOUNG CHILDREN RIDING IN THE VAN BECAUSE THE DOORS DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY LOCK WHEN THE VEHICLE STARTS MOVING. *TR
AUTO DOOR LOCKS FAIL TO WORK SUDDENLY. I SEARCHED THE INTERNET FOR PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND WAS AMAZED TO SEE MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL. PROBLEM CAN BE TEMPORARILY FIXED BY PULLING OUT THE IOD FUSE IN THE FUSE PANEL FOR A MINUTE AND REINSERTING IT. THIS ONLY SOLVES THE PROBLEM FOR A WEEK OR SO. THIS IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD AS MY WIFE AND KIDS SPEND A LOT OF TIME IN THE VEHICLE AND THE DOORS NOT LOCKING POSES A POTENTIAL PROBLEM EXITING THE VEHICLE IN AN EMERGENCY AS WELL AS THE POTENTIAL FOR SOMEONE TO ENTER THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING SUCH AS CARJACKING, ETC....WITH AS MANY COMPLAINTS AS I HAVE READ, AND OBVIOUSLY THE MANUFACTURER BEING AWARE OF THE ISSUE, I FEEL THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY.... *TR
2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN SXT 3.8 V6 ELECTRIC DOOR LOCKS STOP WORKING. FROM RESEARCH, IT HAS TO DO WITH REPROGRAMMING THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE). BY DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY, THE LOCKS WORK TEMPORARILY ANYWHERE FROM A DAY TO A MONTH. THE DOOR LOCKS STOP WORKING WITHOUT ANY SIGNS. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL DUE TO THE SAFETY CONCERNED OF HAVING TO MANUALLY UNLOCK AND LOCK DOORS AS THEY ARE NOT DESIGNED TO BE DONE MANUALLY SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH POWER LOCKS. ALSO, THE BCM REPROGRAMMING FROM THE DEALER APPEARS TO BE SEMI-PERMANENT AS SOME PERSONS HAVE HAD TO RECEIVE A NEW BCM TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR

I HAVE A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS STOP OPERATING. THE ONLY WAY TO CORRECT THEM WAS TO REMOVE AND REINSTALL THE IOD FUSE. AFTER READING AND SEARCHING THE NET, THIS IS SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. WHAT IF THIS HAPPENED TO MY WIFE WITH THE KIDS IN THE CAR. *TR
ONE NIGHT MY LOCKS WERE WORKING ON MY VAN AND THE NEXT MORNING THEY WEREN'T. I CALLED THE CHRYSLER DEALER AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT I WOULD NEED A SOFTWARE UPDATE BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM AND IT WAS NOT A RECALL. I DON'T FEEL THAT IS FAIR, CONSIDERING THE LOCKS ARE SUPPOSED TO LOCK WHILE DRIVING, MAKING SURE THE CHILDREN ARE NOT ABLE TO OPEN THE DOORS WHILE MOVING OR JUST IN A PARKING LOT, WHERE A CAR COULD BE PULLING INTO THE NEXT PARKING SPACE. IT IS SO EASY FOR KIDS TO DART OUT FAST AND THE NEXT CAR TO NOT BE ABLE TO STOP IN TIME. I FEEL THIS IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE FOR ME/MY CHILDREN AND ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. AND BY THE LOOKS OF THE WEBSITES I'VE VISITED, THERE ARE A TON OF PEOPLE WITH SAME PROBLEMS. *TR
POWER DOOR LOCKS WON'T WORK AT ALL. HAVE TO DO IT MANUALLY I THINK THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. WHEN THE VAN WAS SOLD TO ME I LIKED THE IDEA THAT THE DOORS LOCKED WHILE IN MOTION NOW I HAVE TO DO IT MANUALLY WITH 2 SMALL CHILDREN I THINK THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR
POWER DOOR LOCKS HAVE STOPPED WORKING ON MY 2005 DODGE CARAVAN. YOU CAN ONLY LOCK/UNLOCK THE BACK SLIDING DOORS MANUALLY. FROM DOING SOME INVESTIGATING, IT APPEARS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THE 2005 DODGE CARAVANS, AND ONE THAT I DO NOT THINK SHOULD BE TAKEN LIGHTLY. CHILDREN ARE NORMALLY THE ONES SITTING BY THESE DOORS, AND I THINK THIS IS A LIABILITY. ABOUT A YEAR AGO, THE DRIVER'S SIDE STOPPED WORKING, AND THEN A FEW MONTHS AGO, THE PASSENGER ONE STOPPED WORKING. *TR
THE POWER DOOR LOCKS REPEATEDLY FAIL - I UNDERSTAND THIS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE - MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO GET ACCESS TO VEHICLE FROM THE OUTSIDE, ESPECIALLY PROBLEMATIC WITH CHILDREN IN THE BACKSEATS WHO HAVE DIFFICULTY UNLOCKING THE DOORS MANUALLY. ALSO, THE PASSENGER SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR HAS NOT BEEN OPERATIONAL FOR SOME TIME. WE HAVE ALSO RECENTLY EXPERIENCED A, AS YET STILL UNDIAGNOSED, COMPLETE POWER FAILURE IN THE WHOLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM - THIS OCCURRED SUDDENLY WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING 65 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED (IT HAD BEEN ENGAGED FOR SEVERAL MILES). THESE ISSUES RANGE FROM VERY INCONVENIENT TO POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS. *TR
OUR 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN NO LONGER LOCKS WITH THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS. IT ALSO WILL NOT UNLOCK THE DOORS. WHEN THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCK IS PRESSED ON THE REMOTE CONTROL, THE HORN SOUNDS AND GIVE THE IMPRESSION THAT THE DOORS LOCK, BUT THEY DO NOT. ALSO THE VEHICLE NO LONGER AUTOMATICALLY LOCKS THE DOORS WHEN 20 MPH IS ACHIEVED. THESE ARE SAFETY HAZARDS AS WE HAVE BEEN MADE TO BELIEVE THAT THE DOORS WERE LOCKED WHEN THEY WERE NOT LOCKED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL OF THE ELECTRICAL DOOR LOCKS FAILED TO FUNCTION AND HE HAD TO MANUALLY OPEN AND CLOSE THEM. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO ADVISED HIM THAT THE BODY CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000.
DOORS WILL NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK USING THE REMOTE OR LOCK SWITCHES. TWICE A WEEK PULLED IOD RELAY, WAITED 10 SECONDS, REPLACED IT. WORKED FOR 3 MONTHS, BUT IT IS ONLY TEMPORARY, AND I HAVE TO DO IT NOW OFTEN. *TR
2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN POWER SLIDING DOOR FAILURE DUE TO FAULTY WIRING HARNESSES. THIS HAS OCCURRED FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS. THE WIRING HARNESS HAS BROKEN WIRE INTERNALLY AND THEN THE DOOR WILL NOT FUNCTION OR WILL PARTIALLY FUNCTION. WHEN IT PARTIALLY FUNCTIONS, THE DRIVER MAY BEGIN TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE WHEN THE REAR DOORS ARE NOT COMPLETELY SHUT. *TR

THE IMPACT DID ABOUT $5,000 WORTH OF DAMAGE YET THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I AM CONCERNED IT HAS TO DO WITH THIS INVESTIGATION INTO DEFECTIVE SENSORS. HOW CAN I BE SURE MY VEHICLE IS SAFE? *TR
OUR BODY CONTROL MODULE OR BCM HAS FAILED AT 50,000 MILES. THIS MODULE CONTROL THE POWER DOORS AND LOCKS. THIS FAILURE IS VERY COMMON AND SEVERAL HUNDRED $ TO FIX. *TR
DRIVING DOWN FREEWAY AT NIGHT MY HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT. ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO I BROUGHT IT IN TO THE DEALER BECAUSE THE LIGHTS HAD BEEN FLICKERING FOR A FEW DAYS, THEN LIGHTS WOULD NOT TURN ON. THEY ADJUSTED SOME WIRES AND IT TURNED BACK ON. WELL TWO MONTHS LATER THEY ARE NOT WORKING AND HAVE NOT WORKED FOR 3 WEEK. THEY DO NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX THEM. THE DEALER REPLACED THE PROGRAM MODULE IN THE VEHICLE TWICE. CURRENTLY, THE COMPUTER IS BEING REPLACED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 68,500 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT ALL THE DOORS COULD NOT BE LOCKED WITH THE POWER LOCKS. THE ONLY DOOR HE IS ABLE TO LOCK WITH THE POWER LOCK FEATURE IS THE REAR MIDDLE DOOR. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE COMPUTER LOCK MODULE WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WILL REPLACE THE COMPUTER MODULE AT THE COST OF $450. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE REPAIRS SINCE THERE IS NO RECALL. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 53,000.
THE POWER DOOR LOCKS HAVE FAILED. THE VAN ONLY HAS A KEY LOCK ON THE DRIVERS DOOR AND WITH KIDS THIS IS NOT ONLY INCONVENIENT, BUT IT'S NOT SAFE. AFTER LOOKING IT UP ON THE INTERNET, PULLING AND REPLACING A FUSING PROVIDED A TEMPORARY FIX, BUT THAT WILL NOT WORK NOW. APPARENTLY THE ONLY FIX IS HAVING THE DEALER RELOAD THE MEMORY. THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. *TR
TURN SIGNALS DON'T WORK, OR WORK ON THE WRONG SIDE AND ALMOST CAUSED A HUGE CRASH. SOMETIMES THEY BLINK, SOMETIMES NOT. SOMETIMES ON WRONG SIDE INDICATED. *TR
POWER DOOR LOCKS STOPPED WORKING. I FOUND ARTICLES ONLINE TO DISCONNECT BATTERY AND RECONNECT AT WHICH TIME THE ISSUE WENT AWAY. AFTER A WEEK OR SO THE LOCKS STOPPED WORKING AGAIN. I WENT TO THE DEALER AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT I NEEDED TO MICROCODE UPDATE TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. SINCE MY MILEAGE WAS ABOVE 36K THERE WAS A $175 FEE. I REFUSED TO PAY IT SINCE THE CAR WAS UNDER 3 YEARS OLD AND IT WAS A COMPUTER ISSUE. I CONTACTED DODGE AND THEY REFUSED TO WAIVE THE FEE. THE CAR IS NOW 8 YEARS OLD AND DODGE HAS NOT RELEASED THE UPDATED MICROCODE TO ANY SERVICE COMPANIES AND ONLY ALLOWS DEALERSHIPS TO UPDATE THE MICROCODE WHERE MOST WILL UPGRADE FOR FREE. I BELIEVE THIS IS DONE INTENTIONALLY TO CHARGE CURRENT DODGE OWNERS FOR POOR ENGINEERING. *TR

HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT IT WAS A COMMON FAILURE WITH HIS YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL VEHICLE. THE BCM SOFTWARE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPAIRED AT THE COST OF $130. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE BECAUSE THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THIS COMPONENT. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 34,417.
I HAVE A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN AND THE POWER DOORS/POWER LOCKS HAVE FAILED. THE TAILGATE STILL WORKS, HOWEVER, WITHOUT THE POWER LOCKS THERE IS NO WAY TO LOCK IT. DUE TO THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS IN THIS SYSTEM AS WELL AS THE NUMBER OR COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET, THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURE/ENGINEERING DEFECT THAT MUST BE ADDRESSED. I CALLED DODGE ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND THE TOLD ME THAT I'D HAVE TO PAY A $69 DIAGNOSTIC FEE BEFORE THEY COULD TELL ME WHAT WAS WRONG AND HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST. 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN POWER LOCKS STOPPED WORKING. APPARENTLY THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUES. NOTICED IT ONE DAY ON VACATION WHEN I LOCKED THE CAR AND HEARD IT HONK. WHEN I CAME BACK TO THE CAR, THE LOCKS WERE STILL UP - IT NEVER LOCKED. WE HAD ALL KINDS OF EXPENSIVE ELECTRONICS IN THE CAR THAT COULD HAVE BEEN STOLEN. THIS IS ONLY A SMALL THING COMPARED TO THE SAFETY ISSUES RELATED TO CHILDREN'S SAFETY, EASE OF USE FOR DISABLED AND ELDERLY PEOPLE, ETC. ALOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ALL OVER THE INTERNET YET DODGE IS NOT COMING UP WITH A FIX AND THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL YET. THE HATCHBACK DOOR IS THE ONLY DOOR THAT LOCKS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON JUNE 25, 2008 AND THE DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE REMOTE SYSTEM; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. MY MINIVAN'S AIR CONDITIONING STOPPED WORKING SO I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER. THIS CAR ALREADY WAS IN FOR A RECALL ON THE REAR AIR CONDITIONING/HEATING LINES WHICH WERE REPLACED IN NOVEMBER OF 2006. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT IT WAS NOT THE RECALL LINES THAT WERE LEAKING BUT THE REAR EXTENSION LINES WHICH ARE AFTER THE RECALL LINES. THE PARTS ARE ALSO ON BACKORDER FOR WELL OVER ONE MONTH OR MORE. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WERE HAVING A LOT OF REPAIRS ON THIS PART. I CANNOT HELP BUT BELIEVE THAT THE ORIGINAL RECALL FOR REAR AIR CONDITIONING/HEATING LINES SHOULD HAVE INCLUDED THE REAR AIR CONDITIONING/HEATING EXTENSION LINES ALSO. BEAR IN MIND THAT MY VAN IS AROUND 3 1/2 YEARS OLD WITH 42,112 MILES ON IT. *TR
REPEATED FAILURE OF POWER LOCKS IN 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THIS IS APPARENTLY A WELL DOCUMENTED PROBLEM, BUT CHRYSLER AS YET TO ISSUE A RECALL. THE BCM HAS TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE ONLY OTHER TEMPORARY SOLUTION IS TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY OR FUSE. THIS MODEL HAS ONLY ONE EXTERNAL KEY HOLE ON THE DRIVERS DOOR. AND MANUALLY LOCKING THE VAN DOORS MAKES LOADING AND UNLOADING SMALL CHILDREN DIFFICULT. IT ALSO POSES A SERIOUS HAZARD IN THE EVENT A QUICK ESCAPE FROM THE VEHICLE IS NEEDED IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, FIRE, OR SUBMERGED. *TR
