POWER LOCK FUNCTION STOPPED WORKING ON MY 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. POWER DOOR LOCKS COULD NOT BE ACTIVATED USING THE POWER DOOR LOCK SWITCHES ON THE DRIVER'S DOOR, THE PASSENGER DOOR, THE KEY FOB, AND THE 15 MPH AUTO LOCK FEATURE. ATTEMPTING TO ACTIVATE POWER DOOR LOCKS FROM THE KEY FOB GIVES A FALSE INDICATION THAT THE DOORS HAVE LOCKED SINCE THE HORN BEEPS WITHOUT THE DOORS LOCKING. NOT HAVING THE AUTO-LOCK FEATURE AND NOT HAVING CONTROL OF THE POWER DOOR LOCKS FROM THE DRIVER OR PASSENGER DOORS IS A SAFETY HAZARD FOR PASSENGERS EXITING THE VEHICLE IN CASE OF EMERGENCY. *TR
HEADLIGHTS WOULD NOT TURN ON BUT RUNNING LIGHTS WOULD TURN ON. BRIGHT HEADLIGHTS WOULD ONLY WORK IF I HELD THE LEVER PULLED TOWARD ME. ALL OTHER LIGHTS WORKED, INCLUDING TURNING AND BRAKING LIGHTS. AFTER RESEARCH ONLINE I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS OTHER COMPLAINTS THAT WERE IDENTICAL TO MY SITUATION. *JS
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I HAVE GONE OUT TO MY CAR ONLY TO FIND THAT THE INTERIOR CABIN LIGHTS ARE ON. THE VAN WAS IN MY GARAGE AT THE TIME SO I KNOW NO ONE COULD HAVE ENTERED THE VEHICLE. I SEE THAT DODGE HAD A RECALL FOR THERE DURANGO, BUT NOT THERE VAN IN THE YEAR 2005. I PURCHASED THE VAN FROM COON RAPIDS DODGE IN MPLS. MN. ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO. I SEE BY THE DODGE RECALL ON THE DURANGO THIS COULD CAUSE A FIRE. WAS THERE A RECALL ON THIS VAN FOR THIS CONDITION, AND SHOULD IT HAVE BEEN TAKEN CARE OF BY THE DEALER. *TR
AIR BAGS LIGHT CAME ON. *TR
HEADLIGHT SWITCH SHUT OFF LIGHTS WHILE DRIVING. NOW WILL LEAVE LIGHTS ON WHILE IN THE OFF POSITION AND THEY WILL TURN OFF BUT SOUND WILL BEEP AS IF THEY ARE ON. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENTIRE DOOR LATCHING SYSTEM FAILED AND THE STEERING WHEEL EMITTED A LOUD WHINING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THE DOOR LATCHES NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED AND THE POWER STEERING FLUID NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. ON APRIL 18, 2014, CONSUMER MADE AN APPOINTMENT AT LITHIA DODGE IN KENNEWICK WASHINGTON WITH THE SOLE PURPOSE TO CHECK TO SEE IF THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ON THEIR 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN BEING ON CONSTANTLY WAS COVERED UNDER THE NHTSA RECALL 10V008000 "FRONT AIRBAG CRASH SENSOR FAILURE". WHEN CONSUMER ARRIVED FOR THE APPOINTMENT ON APRIL 21, 2014, THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED WITHOUT LOOKING AT THE VEHICLE OR CHECKING THE VIN THAT THE VAN MAY OR MAY NOT BE COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. THEY JUST DIDN'T KNOW. THEY COULD DO A DIAGNOSTIC ON THE VEHICLE, THOUGH: IF THE VEHICLE WAS COVERED UNDER RECALL, THE VISIT WOULD BE FREE. IF THE VEHICLE WASN'T UNDER RECALL, THEY WOULD CHARGE A $125 "DIAGNOSTIC FEE" TO TELL THE CONSUMER THAT IT WASN'T UNDER RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE REPAIRS SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER A RECALL. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL OF THE DOORS FAILED TO UNLOCK WITH THE KEY FOB AND THE POWER SWITCH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 111,000.
TOOK OWNERSHIP OF THE VEHICLE IN JANUARY 2014. NEARLY EVERY TIME THE GAS TANK HAS BEEN FILLED UP (TO FULL), THE VEHICLE WILL RUN OK FOR A BRIEF PERIOD OF TIME, IT WILL THEN BEGIN TO BUCK AND STALL. THIS HAPPENS AT NEARLY ANY ENGINE SPEED. ONCE THE VEHICLE STALLS IT IS DIFFICULT TO RESTART FOR ONE ATTEMPT. AFTER THE GAS TANK GETS JUST UNDER FULL THE OPERATION IS COMPLETELY NORMAL. THIS IS DANGEROUS AS USUALLY YOU ARE IN TRAFFIC. *TR
AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED, NO HORN OR CRUISE CONTROL. INDICATIVE OF A FAILED CLOCKSPRING AS IN EARLIER MODELS. THIS CONDITION EXISTED AT PURCHASE SO EXACT DATE MILEAGE OF INITIAL FAILURE UNKNOWN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE SHIFTING HAD TO BE TAMPERED IN ORDER TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS. IN ADDITION, THE AUTOMATIC DOOR ON THE DRIVER SIDE WOULD NOT CLOSE PROPERLY,WHICH CAUSED HER TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITH THE DOOR COMPLETELY OPEN. THE PROBLEM RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. ALSO, THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A MECHANIC FOR A DIAGNOSIS AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000.
HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. HAD TO FIDDLE WITH THE ON OFF SWITCH REPEATEDLY TO GET THEM TO COME BACK ON. COULD NOT GET ISSUE TO REPLICATE. *TR
POWER DOOR LOCKS FAIL TO OPERATE EITHER WITH SWITCHES OR KEY FOB ON SOME OF THE DOORS. CAN'T GET INTO THE VEHICLE ON DOORS THAT DON'T HAVE KEY HOLES. DOORS DON'T LOCK WHEN LEAVING VEHICLE PARKED CAUSING POTENTIAL THEFT OPPORTUNITY. *TR
THE POWER DOOR LOCKS OF MY 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN ARE NOT ABLE TO BE OPENED USING THE DOOR SWITCH OR THE KEYFOB. THE ONLY WAY TO OPEN THE DOORS IS BY MANUALLY PULLING THE LOCK. ALSO, ONCE THE VEHICLE IS DRIVING THE LOCKS DO NOT CLOSE AT THE 18 MPH MARK AS STATED IN THE OPERATING MANUAL. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR MYSELF AND MY CHILDREN AND WOULD HOE THAT DODGE VALUES ITS CUSTOMERS ENOUGH TO SEE IT AS THAT TOO. AFTER SEARCHING ONLINE FOR A POSSIBLE CAUSE OR CURE I STUMBLED UPON A TSB (08-040-04) ISSUES REGARDING THIS ISSUE. A SIMPLE TSB IS NOT ENOUGH TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. CUSTOMERS SHOULD NOT BE CHARGED TO REPAIR A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH A DODGE VEHICLE. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. AFTER EXITING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO LOCK THE DOORS AND THE LOCKS FAILED TO ENGAGE. THE CONTACT HAD TO REMOVE THE I.O.D FUSE FROM THE FUSE BOX AND RESET THE COMPUTER IN ORDER FOR THE LOCKS TO ENGAGE. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 20,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO OPERATE THE ELECTRIC SLIDING SIDE DOOR, A LARGE SPARK AND SMALL DEBRIS FIRE WAS SEEN IN THE BOTTOM DOOR RAIL. UPON INSPECTION, A BREAK IN THE WIRE HARNESS HAD ALOUD WIRES TO BE SEVERED THAT CONTROLS THE DOOR AND LOCKING SYSTEM. THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS ON BOTH SIDE DOORS NO LONGER WORKED AND THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WOULD NO LONGER OPEN ELECTRICALLY. I REMOVED THE WIRING HARNESS AND WIRES AND DISCARDED THEM TO AVOID ANY MORE PROBLEMS (SPARKING AND/OR FIRES). THIS COULD CAUSE A MAJOR FIRE HAZARD IN THE RIGHT ENVIRONMENT. *TR
DOORS LOCK THEMSELVES AND DOOR LOCK SWITCH FAILS TO FUNCTION INTERMITTENTLY. *TR
MY VAN HAS HAD FLICKERING HEADLIGHTS AND DASHBOARD LIGHTS. I REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR AND THE BATTERY HAD BEEN REPLACED RECENTLY AS WELL AND IT IS STILL DOING IT. DRIVING HOME FROM WORK TODAY IT WAS FLICKERING A LOT AND THE DASH BOARD LIGHTS WERE FLICKERING A LOT AS WELL. MAKES IT HARD TO SEE DRIVING AT NIGHT. *TR
I HAVE HAD THE PROBLEM OF HAVING TO TOGGLE THE LIGHTS TO GO ON AND OFF SINCE I PURCHASED THE VAN USED IN 2009. FROM THAT POINT THE LIGHTS WOULD WORK WITH TOGGLING THEM OFF. BUT THEN THE PROBLEM HAS WORSENED AND THE HEAD LIGHTS WILL NOT COME ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED EVER SO OFTEN. I THOUGHT I COULD TURN ON THE HIGH BEAMS TO BE ABLE TO SEE, HOWEVER THE HIGH BEAMS WON'T STAY ON EITHER. TOGGLING THEM BACK AND FORTH DOESN'T WORK ANYMORE. I NEED A SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM. I PURCHASED THIS VAN FOR A REASON. I HAVE CHILDREN....... I SEE THAT THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM.....AND THAT THIS HAS PUT FAMILIES IN DANGEROUS SITUATIONS.....AND TO A DIVORCED WOMAN WITH 2 CHILDREN THIS WOULD BE COSTLY TO FIND OUT EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM IS...... *TR
MY VANS LOCKS DON'T WORK ANYMORE ON THE REMOTE ON BY PUSHING THE BUTTON BUT IF I CHARGE THE BATTERY EVEN IF ITS NOT DEAD IT'LL WORK FOR A COUPLE DAYS I FEEL THIS SHOULD BE FIXED FOR SAFETY. *TR
THE FUEL PUMP ON OUR 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO CRACKS AND LEAKS WHICH LEFT A STRONG FUEL ODOR ALONG WITH THE LOSS OF GASOLINE. THE FUEL PUMP SHOULD HAVE LASTED AT LEAST 100,000 MILES BUT IT DID NOT. WHEN I SEARCHED ONLINE, I FOUND THAT QUITE A FEW OWNERS OF THE SAME VEHICLE HAD THIS PROBLEM. THE SUB PAR PARTS ARE COSTLY TO REPLACE, ESPECIALLY WHEN CONSIDERING IT WAS NO FAULT OF THE OWNERS. *TR
THE ELECTRIC DOOR LOCKS DO NOT WORK UNLESS YOU RESET THE COMPUTER BY REMOVING THE BATTERY CABLE FOR ONE MIN. AND CONNECTING IT BACK. COMPUTER NEEDS TO BE FLASHED FOR A PERMANENT FIX. THE REMOVING THE CABLE IS JUST A TEMPORARY FIX.I BOUGHT IT BROKEN.
STARTED UP THE CAR AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH STAYED ON, FUEL LIGHT, ENG LIGHT, ABS LIGHT ....ALL THE LIGHTED SQUARES AROUND THE GEAR (DL321) STAYED LIT AND WOULD NOT SHUT OFF UNTIL I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND THEN THEY DIDN'T SHUT OFF UNTIL THE AUTOMATIC CUT OFF ..SHUT THEM DOWN. CHECKED ALL THE FUSES AND THE FMC AND THE PDC TO CLEAN CONNECTIONS AND DIDN'T CHANGE. DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY CABLES AND THEN RECONNECTED THEM. STILL NOTHING CALLED THE DEALER AND HE SAID THAT THEY COULD CONNECT THE DIAGNOSTIC BUT SOUNDED LIKE THE MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A START OF $500. MY HEADLIGHTS HAVE BEEN HAVING ON AND OFF PROBLEMS EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE ALONG WITH THE DRIVERS WINDOW NOT GOING DOWN THEN IT WORKS FINE FOR A LONG TIME AND THEN STOPS AGAIN. *TR
EVERY TIME AFTER REFUELING THE CAR WITH A FULL TANK, AFTER ABOUT A MILE OF DRIVING THE ENGINE WILL STUMBLE OR DIE ALTOGETHER. THIS CAUSES LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, HE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE IN AN ATTEMPT TO AVOID A ROAD ANIMAL. THE CONTACT CRASHED FORCEFULLY INTO THE SIDE OF A DITCH, WENT AIRBORNE AND THEN CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY WITH THE IMPACT. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE HEAD, WRIST AND HAND. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A COLLISION CENTER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 146,500.
FROM 2013 ON, EVERY TIME I FILL MY VAN UP, WHETHER HALF WAY OR ALL THE WAY, IT STALLS AFTER GOING A FEW FEET OR SOMETIMES FURTHER. IT IS COMPLETELY UNEXPECTED. I HAVE STALLED IN TRAFFIC, PULLING INTO TRAFFIC OR JUST SITTING AT A STOP SIGN OR LIGHT. LATELY IT TAKES TWO OR THREE TIMES TO START UP AGAIN. I HAVE TRIED EXPENSIVE GAS AND CHEAPER GAS WITH SAME RESULT. I WAS TOLD BY MECHANIC IT WOULD BE A HUGE COST TO FIX SO DID NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. IT IS FRUSTRATING AND IS BECOMING DANGEROUS AS IT IS COMPLETELY UNEXPECTED. THIS IS ALSO A PROBLEM THAT CAN ONLY BE SHOWN TO A MECHANIC AT FILL UP. MOST OF THE TIME I AM TOLD I AM OVERFILLING WHICH IS NOT THE CASE. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE PASSENGER'S SLIDING DOOR ERRONEOUSLY OPENED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 158,700.
I HAVE BEEN HAVING INTERMITTENT ISSUES WITH MY HEADLAMPS NOT TURNING ON. IF I JIGGLE THE FUSE BOX OR PULL THE RELAY OUT THEY WILL COME ON. THE ISSUE HAS GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE TO THE POINT THAT I HAVE TO MANIPULATE THE FUSE BOX TO GET MY HEADLIGHTS ON AT ALL. ALL OTHER LIGHTS WORK. I FEEL VERY UNSAFE IN MY VAN SINCE I HAVE TO POP THE HOOD EVERY TIME I NEED HEADLIGHTS AND SOMETIMES IT CAN TAKE SEVERAL MINUTES BEFORE THEY WORK. AS A WOMAN IT IS NOT SAFE TO BE IN A PUBLIC PLACE WITH MY VAN HOOD UP. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE DODGE CORRECT THIS DEFECT! *TR
MY HEADLIGHTS WILL GO OUT COMPLETELY WHILE I AM DRIVING. THEY ALSO FLASH OFF AND ON WHILE I AM DRIVING. THEY FLASH AT OTHER DRIVERS AS IF I AM SIGNALING THEM TO PULL OUT IN FRONT OF ME, ONE TIME ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT IN FRONT OF MY DAUGHTERS SCHOOL. I ALSO HAVE INCIDENTS WHERE I CANT TURN THEM ON AT ALL, OR CAN'T TURN THEM OFF WHEN I PARK AND SHUT OFF MY CAR. I WILL PARK MY CAR AND SHUT OFF THE LIGHTS AND WHEN I OPEN THE DOOR, THE DOOR CHIME WILL RING AS IF I HAVE LEFT THEM ON. THEY TURN THEMSELVES ON IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY WHILE I AM DRIVING EVEN THOUGH THE SWITCH IN IN THE OFF POSITION. MY PARKING LIGHTS AND DASH LIGHTS FLASH BY THEMSELVES (AT RANDOM) AT ALL HOURS OF THE DAY AND NIGHT. WE HAVE ALREADY REPLACED THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH AND IT DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *JS
ELECTRIC OPERATION OF LOCKS QUIT AND HAS NOT RESUMED. NEITHER KEYS REMOTE FEATURE WORKS TO LOCK OR UNLOCK THE VAN, ALTHOUGH THEY BOTH CAUSE THE LIGHTS TO FLASH AS USUAL. LOCK SWITCHES ON DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER DOORS ALSO DO NOT WORK. MANUAL LOCKING VIA THE OLD FASHIONED BUTTONS WORKS OK, AS DO KEY LOCKS ON REAR HATCH AND DRIVER'S DOOR. *TR
THE SAME AS SO MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS. THE ELECTRIC LOCKING SYSTEM AND POWER SIDE DOORS STOPPED WORKING. CAR DOES NOT LOCK WHEN REACHING SPEED EITHER. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. I HAVE A CHILD IN THE BACK AND CANNOT BE ASSURED DOORS ARE LOCKED. I DO NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO LOCK OR UNLOCK IN CASE OF EMERGENCY. REAR DOOR LOCKING IS HIT OR MISS. IF IT'S TRUE THAT THE SYSTEM NEEDS AN UPGRADE WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR THAT? SHOULDN'T THE COMPANY THAT BUILT THE DEFECTIVE PART HAVE TO FIX IT? NOT THE FIRST ELECTRICAL PROBLEM I HAVE HAD. HEADLIGHTS STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING MULTIPLE TIMES. I REPLACED THE SWITCH, WORKS FOR NOW. I ALSO HAD A DEFECTIVE WINDOW MOTOR AND SWITCH WHICH HAD TO BE REPLACED. *TR

DOOR LOCKS STOPPED WORKING, NO ONE FUSE TO CHANGE FOR IT, DIFFERENT FORUMS SAYS TO UNHOOK BATTERY CABLE AND FUSES TO RESTORE POWER TO DOOR LOCKS, THIS WORKED FOR ABOUT 3 DAYS, DOOR LOCKS ARE NOT WORKING AGAIN. OVER IT!!!! *TR
AS I WAS DRIVING MY 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN, THE DASHBOARD FLICKERED AND THEN THE CAR SHUT DOWN. POWER STEERING WAS DISABLED BUT I WAS LUCKILY ABLE TO DRIFT IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE, IT SEEMS THIS ELECTRICAL SHUT DOWN IS ONGOING AND PROBLEMATIC FOR THIS YEAR AND MAKE. I HAD LITTLE CHILDREN IN THE CAR AND WITHOUT WARNING THE CAR DIES. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL AS IT POSES SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERNS FOR THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE AND CARS AROUND IT. HAD I BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY, I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO TELL YOU ABOUT THIS INCIDENT. WHEN I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALER, I WAS TOLD IT NEEDED AN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SOFTWARE UPDATE OTHERWISE IT WILL GET PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. THE DEALER ALSO EXPLAINED THAT THE OTHER ELECTRICAL ISSUES THAT I HAVE BEEN HAVING - TAIL LIGHTS BURNING OUT, SLIDING DOORS OPENING/CLOSING, WINDOW NOT GOING DOWN, POWER LOCKS LOCKING AND UNLOCKING) WERE ALSO A PART OF THIS SOFTWARE UPDATE. YET, IT IS NOT A RECALL BECAUSE IT IS NOT CONSIDERED A SAFETY ISSUE. I AM APPALLED THAT WE HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS SOFTWARE UPDATE, THAT DODGE AND THE NHTSA HAVE BEEN AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND THAT IS NOT CONSIDERED A SAFETY CONCERN. RECALL THIS MAKE AND MODEL FOR THIS ISSUE IMMEDIATELY. THE CAR DYING IN THE ROAD IS A MAJOR CONCERN. THE DOORS CLOSING WITHOUT NOTICE COULD HAVE KILLED MY FOUR YEAR OLD, INSTEAD I THREW MY BODY IN THE MIDDLE TO PROTECT HER. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE RECALL THIS TO SAVE LIVES. AFTER FILLING VEHICLE WITH FUEL, OUR VAN HAS BEEN STALLING UPON STOPPING AT A LIGHT WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF LEAVING GAS STATION. MOST RECENTLY VEHICLE CUT OFF LESS THAN 1/4 MILE AFTER REFILLING WHEN DRIVING ON ROAD. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, ELECTRIC OF VEHICLE SHUTS OFF ALONG WITH LOSING POWER STEERING. THE PROBLEM OF VEHICLE SHUTTING OFF HAS GONE ON INTERMITTENTLY FOR ABOUT 1-2 YEARS NOW BUT IS GETTING WORSE. UNTIL ABOUT A WEEK AGO, THIS ALWAYS HAPPENED AT A STOP BUT THE LAST INCIDENT IS CONCERNING CONSIDERING IT HAPPENED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING MY WIFE USES THIS AS PRIMARY TRANSPORTATION FOR HER AND OUR 3 CHILDREN. WHAT IF THIS CUTS OFF ON THE HIGHWAY OR IN AN INTERSECTION? I DID A LOT OF RESEARCH ONLINE TRYING TO FIND POSSIBLE ROOT CAUSES. THERE SEEMS TO BE AN OVERWHELMINGLY LARGE NUMBER OF PEOPLE HAVING THIS ISSUE WITH THE 3.8 LITER V6 ON DODGE/CHRYSLER MINIVAN MODELS IN THE 2003-2007 RANGE. I AM ALSO TOLD THE ONLY WAY TO FIX THIS IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE GAS TANK DUE TO A FAULTY VALVE/SEPARATOR. I HOPE THAT CHRYSLER IS WILLING TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AT NO COST TO THE CUSTOMER CONSIDERING THE HIGH LEVEL OF DANGER THAT WE ARE PRESENTED WITH HERE. *TR
MY POWER DOOR LOCKS NO LONGER WORK. WE CAN PULL THE FUSE AND PUT IT BACK AND THEY WILL WORK FOR A FEW DAYS. ONE TIME OUR BATTERY DIED AND AFTER CHARGING THE DOOR LOCKS WORKED FOR A FEW WEEKS. ALSO THE POWER WINDOW ON THE DRIVER SIDE INTERMITTENTLY DOES NOT WORK AND NOW EVERY TIME I OPEN THE DOOR THE HORN BLOWS. *TR

THE CONTACT RESET THE DOOR LOCK SYSTEM HIMSELF HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 104,000.
THE 05 GRAND CARAVAN THAT I HAVE HAS THE LOCK ISSUE THE BUTTONS INSIDE NOR THE KEY FOB WILL UNLOCK OR LOCK THE VEHICLE. SO IF I WERE IN A EMERGENCY SITUATION AND I NEED TO LOCK OR UNLOCK MY DOORS I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO IN TIME THEREFORE I THINK THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. THE KEY FOB LOCKING SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK TO LOCK THESE 4 DOORS. THE KEY FOB LOCK MECHANISM WILL LOCK THE REAR DOOR HATCH ONLY. I HAVE THE CAR AT THE DEALER TODAY FOR REPAIRS. FROM INTERNET SEARCHES, IT APPEARS THAT THE COMPANY HAS TO DO A FLASH UPDATE ON THE BCM, THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. *TR

POWER DOOR LOCKS STOP WORKING. THEY CANNOT BE CONTROLLED BY KEY FOB, DOOR CONTROLS OR AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCK OVER 20MPH SETTING. A DRIVER CANNOT AUTOMATICALLY LOCK OR UNLOCK DOORS QUICKLY WHEN IN AN UNSAFE SITUATION, AND DUE TO THE SIZE OF THE VAN, SOME LOCKS CANNOT EVEN BE REACHED FROM DRIVER'S SEAT.
WHEN PARKING AND SHUTTING THE ENGINE OFF, I GET OUT AND WALK TOWARD REAR OF THE VAN, I CAN SMELL GAS BUT I CAN NOT FIND ANY GAS LEAKING ON THE GROUND AND THE GAS CAP IS ON TIGHT. I HAD A FRIEND TELL ME THAT THEY HAD SIMILAR PROBLEM ON THEIR DODGE GRAND CARAVAN AND THEY HAD TO DROP THE GAS TANK AND FOUND A LEAK ON TOP OF THE TANK. IT IS A STRONG ODOR AND I AM AFRAID A SMOKER TOSSING A BUTT NEAR THE VAN MIGHT CAUSE AN EXPLOSION. THIS IS AN E85 FUEL ENGINE BUT THAT IS HARD TO FIND SO I USE UNLEADED REGULAR. I HAVE NOT HAD CHANCE TO GET THIS IN TO HAVE IT CHECKED AND REPAIRED. JUST CHECKING ON RECALL POSSIBILITIES FIRST. *TR

THE VAN HAS HAD A PROBLEM FOR THE LAST 3 MONTHS. RIDING ON THE VAN, SUDDENLY THE GAUGES IN THE DASHBOARD START TO FLICKER AND JUMP LIKE CRAZY AND THE ENGINE STALLS AND DIES IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD.THIS IS DANGEROUS. I CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE CHANGED THE ALTERNATOR, THE BATTERY, THE PCM, AND STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM. I HAVE CONTACTED THE FACTORY AND THEY DON'T HAVE A SOLUTION FOR THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION.
