VEHICLE LEAKS ON PASSAGENER SIDE.WHEN IT RAINS OR U RUN IT THROUGH THE CAR WASH WATER SOMETIMES RUNS BEHIND THE DASH UNTO THE FLOOR. WE HAVE TRIED TO FIND THE LEAK TO NO AVAIL. CARPET HAS FORMED MILDEW FROM THE LEAK. CANNOT GET THE CO. TO FIX OR TELL US WHERE THE LEAK IS.
AFTER GETTING GAS, WHEN I SLOW TO COME TO A STOP THE CAR STALLS OUT. IT WILL USUALLY START RIGHT BACK UP AND I DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM UNTIL I GET GAS AGAIN. THIS IS A CONCERN AS I AM USUALLY DRIVING MY CHILDREN AROUND AND IT HAPPENED AFTER I PULLED OUT ONTO A BUSY 4 LANE ROAD AND HAD TO SLOW DUE TO AN UPCOMING LIGHT. WE WERE ALMOST HIT BECAUSE THE CARS COMING UP SAW THAT THE LIGHT WAS NOW GREEN. I PUT ON MY BLINKERS AS FAST AS I COULD BUT THAT DID NOT SAVE US FROM NEARLY BEING HIT AS WE WERE SITTING DUCKS. *TR
SEVERAL TIMES FOLLOWING A FILL UP, THE VAN HAS STALLED OUT, USUALLY JUST A FEW HUNDRED FEET FROM THE PUMPS. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS USUALLY AS WE ARE PULLING INTO TRAFFIC. FROM WHAT I'VE READ ONLINE, THE ONLY FIX TO THIS PROBLEM IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE GAS TANK SYSTEM. *TR
VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AT 48MPH AND INCREASING. FIRST ALL DIALS DROPPED TO 0, BRAKES WOULD NOT WORK, WHEN PRESSING ACCELERATOR ENGINE WOULD REV UP BUT NO POWER - THEN THIS STOPPED ALSO. TURNED KEY TO OFF POSITION AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES, THEN TURNED CAR BACK ON AND ALL SEEMED WELL. THIS WAS VERY SCARY WITH CARS & TRUCKS WHIPPING BY AT 50 PLUS MPH! *TR
REFUELED VEHICLE, AFTER SHUTTING OFF IGNITION, VEHICLE STALLS IMMEDIATELY AFTER STARTING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHEN THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR WAS LOCKED WITH EITHER THE KEY FOB OR MANUALLY, AN ABNORMAL NOISE EMITTED FROM THE DOOR PANEL. WHEN UNLOCKING THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE, THE DOOR FAILED TO UNLOCK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. IMMEDIATELY AFTER ADDING FUEL TO THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTING THE ENGINE, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. UPDATED 8/21/15*CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE STALLS INTERMITTENTLY, NOT ON EVERY FILL UP. USUALLY, THE STALL WOULD OCCUR AFTER FILL UP AND A FEW MINUTES AFTER LEAVING THE PUMP. I FILLED THE FUEL TANK & THEN PROCEDED TO DRIVE HOME. AFTER LEAVING THE GAS STATION THE VAN STALLED IN TRAFFIC 4 TIMES. THIS HAS HAPPENED EVERY TIME I HAVE FILLED THE GAS TANK SINCE 8/6/2014
WHEN IT FIRST BEGAN THE VAN WOULD STALL AND SKIP UPON ACCELERATION BETWEEN 20-50 MPH. NOW THE VAN STALLS AND/OR SKIPS AT ANY POINT OF ACCELERATION. THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON RIGHT AFTER THERE IS FUEL ADDED TO THE TANK AND THIS IS WHEN THE STALLING IS THE WORSE. THE ENGINE LIGHT ALSO COMES ON WHEN THERE IS1/4 TANK OF GAS LEFT AND THE DISTANCE TO EMPTY NUMBER JUMPS AROUND WHEN THERE IS LESS THAN 1/4 OF A TANK. *TR
MY WIFE JUST FINISHED REFUELING AND PROCEEDED FROM THE STATION AND TURNED OUT ON THE HIGHWAY. UPON APPROACHING A STOPLIGHT CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. AFTER THE LIGHT TURNED GREED PROCEEDED TO ACCELERATE, AFTER PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO STUMBLE AND THEN STALL. *TR
NUMEROUS TIMES RIGHT AFTER I FUEL UP, THE VAN SPUTTERS, SHAKES, AND THE ENGINE QUITS. EVEN IF I HOLD THE GAS PEDAL STEADY, IT JERKS AS IF I WAS PRESSING THE PEDAL QUICKLY THEN LETTING GO. WHEN I STOP AT A LIGHT, THE ENGINE DIES COMPLETELY. THIS HAPPENS ALMOST EVERY TIME I FUEL UP. IT HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEYOND 1 DAY AFTER I FUEL UP. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHICH GAS STATION I FILL UP AT, NOR THE QUALITY OF THE FUEL I BUY, THE PROBLEM STILL HAPPENS. ONE TIME THE ENGINE EVEN QUIT WHILE I WAS DRIVING! (USUALLY IT QUITS WHEN I STOP AT A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN.) IT TAKES 2-3 TRIES AND THEN THE ENGINE STARTS AGAIN AND THE VAN SHAKES, JERKS, AND SPUTTERS ONCE AGAIN AS IF IT IS NOT GETTING ENOUGH FUEL.
THIS IS A DEFECT PETITION FILED PURSUANT TO 49 U.S.C. 30162. OUR 2007 GRAND CARAVAN SXT HAS ABOUT 44,000 MILES ON IT AND IT HAS BEGUN STALLING AFTER REFUELING. THIS ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS REFUELED TO FULL CAPACITY. THE PROBLEM STARTED ABOUT A MONTH AGO. TODAY, MY WIFE (WITH KIDS IN CAR) STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY. THE DANGER WAS THAT SHE WAS ON A TURN AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME IMPOSSIBLE FOR HER TO TURN IT. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE, AND MY HOPE IS THAT CHRYSLER MAKES GOOD ON A DEFECTIVE PART. (I SEE THEY DID THAT AFTER A GOV'T INVESTIGATION OF A SIMILAR NATURE FOR OTHER CARS...AFTER AN INVESTIGATION BY NHTSA!) ***THIS IS A WIDESPREAD ISSUE FOR VEHICLES FROM 2004 TO 2013. IN MAY 2014, AT APPROXIMATELY 55MPH, AFTER REFUELING AND DRIVEN 50 MILES. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. STOPPED VEHICLE AND CHECKED EVERYTHING THAT I COULD CHECK, AS I HAD JUST HAD IT SERVICED APPROX. 300 MILES PRIOR. CONTINUED ON TRIP, AFTER SPENDING NIGHT IN MOTEL, TOOK VEHICLE TO REPAIR FACILITY AND THEY DID DIAGNOSTICS...CAME UP WITH CODE 461, WHICH WAS FUEL LEVER SENSOR IN GAS TANK. CONTINUED ON TRIP, (1300 MILES), AFTER THAT TWO TIMES WHEN I HAD FILLED UP WITH GAS AGAIN THE VEHICLE DIED WITHIN 2 MILES...NO ENGINE LIGHT EVER CAME BACK ON. THIS CONTINUED THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER, OCCURRING 80% OF THE TIME I REFUELED...TOOK TO DEALER AS I HAVE EXTENDED WARRANTY, THEY ARE LOOKING INTO IT, BUT SAID BECAUSE THE ENGINE LIGHT DOESN'T COME BACK ON, THEY CAN'T EVALUATE IT. READ SOMEWHERE SINCE I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER, THAT IF I DON'T FILL THE TANK UP FULLY, THAT WILL CURE THE PROBLEM? THE ENGINE DYING HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING LESS THAN 20MPH, SO FAR...COULD BE A PROBLEM PULLING OUT IN TRAFFIC? THIS IS NOW OCTOBER, STILL EXPERIENCING PROBLEM. *TR
ON APPROXIMATELY 04/07/2014 THE VAN WAS FILLED UP WITH GAS, I TOOK THE NOZZLE OUT WHEN IT SHUT OFF AND DID NOT PUT ANY EXTRA GAS INTO TANK. I STARTED UP THE VAN TO EXIT THE STATION WE DROVE ABOUT 100 YARDS AND THE VAN JERKED WITH A KNOCKING SOUND TWICE AND STALLED. I STARTED THE VAN BACK UP, WHEN IT DID START THE IDLE WAS ROUGH AND LOW. I HELD MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDDLE TO SLIGHTLY RAISE THE RPM'S FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS BEFORE WE PROCEEDED. IT TOOK A COUPLE OF MILES BEFORE THE VAN SEEMED TO BE ABOUT NORMAL. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWO OTHER TIMES SINCE THEN. ANOTHER COMPLAINT, THE FRONT BRAKES SQUEAK EVERY TIME YOU APPLY THEM. *TR
JUST BOUGHT A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN AND REALIZED THE FRONT READING LIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING. I TOOK OF THE PLASTIC COVERS IN AN ATTEMPT TO CHANGE THEM AND OBSERVED THAT THE BULB HAD COMPLETELY MELTED THE PLASTIC AND BURNT PART OF THE CASING. IT APPEARS AS THOUGH THE PLASTIC HOUSING WAS VERY CLOSE TO, OR HAD ALREADY, CAUGHT ON FIRE. I AM WORRIED THAT IF WE PUT A NEW LIGHT BULB IN THE SAME HOUSING IT WILL LIKELY CATCH THE WHOLE VAN ON FIRE. THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY BEING PARAMOUNT, I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DOING SO. AFTER REVIEWING THIS PROBLEM ONLINE, I FOUND NUMEROUS OTHER GRAND CARAVAN OWNERS CLAIMING TO HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE FIXED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT, OR EVEN WORSE, KILLED. *TR
25 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THIS FAILURE OCCURRED TWICE AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS FILED WITH FUEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, HOWEVER THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000. RG *TR
MY STEPDAUGHTER WAS DRIVING MY VAN AFTER WE WERE RETURNING FROM A TRIP TO CALIFORNIA. WE GOT TO HER HOUSE TO DROP HER OFF WHERE SHE PUT THE VAN IN PARK . I THEN WALKED (BEHIND) FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE TO THE DRIVERS SIDE WHILE SHE WENT TO HER MAIL BOX TO GET HER MAIL. I OPENED THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR, THAT'S WHEN THE VAN STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS DOWN HER DRIVEWAY. I COULDN'T SEE HER SO I SCREAMED HER NAME SO IT DIDN'T RUN OVER HER, SHE WAS DIRECTLY BEHIND THE VAN LOOKING DOWN AT HER MAIL. SHE GOT OUT OF THE WAY IN TIME TO SEE THAT THE VAN DOOR HAD CAUGHT ME, WAS ABLE TO REACH ME, LUCKILY, TO GRAB AND YANK ME FROM BEHIND IT. THEN WE WATCHED AS IT ROLLED DOWN HER DRIVEWAY INTO THE STREET. LUCKILY WHEN IT HIT THE BOTTOM OF HER DRIVEWAY THE WHEELS TURNED OR IT WOULD HAVE GONE DOWN HER STREET AND CROSSED A SIDE ROAD. THE DOOR CAUGHT A LARGE RECYCLE BIN CAUSING FRONT END DAMAGE AND BENT THE DOOR BACKWARDS ENDING UP WITH THE REAR END HITTING A LARGE SNOW BANK WHERE IT CAME TO REST. THIS WAS A FRIGHTENING INCIDENT, ONE OR BOTH OF US COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED! EVEN WORSE OTHERS COULD HAVE BEEN IF THE VAN HAD GONE INTO THE STREET(S). THE VAN WENT INTO NEUTRAL, I PHYSICALLY SAW IT AND HAD TO SHIFT IT INTO DRIVE TO GET IT OFF THE CURB. SINCE THEN, NUMEROUS TIMES, WHEN I HAVE BEEN BACKING UP OR JUST STARTING TO DRIVE, IT WILL POP INTO NEUTRAL. EACH TIME I HAVE TO PUT IT BACK INTO REVERSE OR DRIVE. THIS IS DANGEROUS!!! WHAT IF IT HAPPENS WHEN I AM DRIVING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY OR PULLING OUT ONTO A STREET ETC? MY HUSBAND HEARD A STORY TODAY THAT OTHER CHRYSLER VEHICLES ARE HAVING THE VERY SAME ISSUE. I THINK THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM THAT THEY HAVE HAD FOR MANY MANY . IT NEEDS TO CHANGE. WHO ELSE CAN I COMPLAIN TO? I INFORMED CHRYSLER/DODGE WHEN IT HAPPENED AND HEARD NOTHING BACK.
THE TPMS FAILED. THE VALVE STEM CRACKED OFF WHEN ADDING AIR. AIR WAS BEING ADDED BECAUSE THE VALVE STEM WAS LEAKING, AND THE TIRE WAS NEAR FLAT, AND I WANTED TO TAKE IT TO A REPAIR SHOP. THIS IS THE SECOND TPMS VALVE FAILURE I HAVE HAD. FORTUNATELY, BOTH OCCURRED AT A STANDSTILL. I SEE TALES ON THE INTERNET OF FAILURE AT HIGH SPEED, FOLLOWED BY VARY RAPID DECOMPRESSION AND TIRE FAILURE. EXPENSIVE, IF NOT UNSAFE. IN MY OWN CASE, WITH OVER 50 YEARS DRIVING EXPERIENCE AND 2 YEARS AS A MECHANIC, I HAVE NEVER SEEN A VALVE STEM FAILURE BEFORE. NOW, I HAVE TWO. EXPERT MECHANICS ARE ADVISING TO REPLACE THEM WITH STANDARD VALVES, AND I WILL. FROM AN ECONOMIC VIEW, THE SEVERAL FAILURES OF THE STEMS, AND STEM FAILURES, HAVE COST ME ABOUT 6 CENTS PER MILE. GAS HAS COST ME ABOUT 18 CENTS PER MILE (AT TODAYS COST). THUS, THE TPMS SYSTEM MAINTENANCE IS ABOUT 1/3 OF THE GAS COST. I DOUBT VERY SERIOUSLY THAT THE TPMS SYSTEM SAVES THAT MUCH IN GASOLINE USE. BUT FROM A SAFETY PERSPECTIVE, I AM NOT WILLING TO RISK SUDDEN DEPRESSURIZATION FOLLOWED BY TIRE DESTRUCTION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THUS, I WILL BE PULLING THOSE OUT BEFORE MY NEXT HIGHWAY TRIP. AFTER TALKING WITH SEVERAL MECHANICS, LOOKING AT THE DESIGNS, AND LOOKING AT EXPERIENCES OF OTHERS, I CONCLUDE THAT TPMS IS A GOOD IDEA WITH A BAD EXECUTION. IF THEY ARE NOT (NEARLY AS SECURE) AS OLDER VALVE STEMS, THEY SHOULD BE DE-MANDATED. FINALLY, I NOTE THAT AT LEAST SOME OF THESE HAVE MERCURY IN THE PACKAGE AS A ROTARY SWITCH. AS MUCH AS WE ARE SPENDING TO REMOVE MERCURY FROM THE ENVIRONMENT . . . *TR
DURING PARK REAR PASSENGER DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE MANUALLY AND ELECTRONICALLY, SOMEONE FROM THE OUTSIDE HAS TO OPEN THE DOOR. THE UNLOCK MECHANISM IS UP BUT THE DOOR BUTTON FROM THE INSIDE WOULD NOT PUSH DOWN, THEREFORE NOT ALLOWING THE VAN DOOR TO OPEN. THIS IS BIG SAFETY PROBLEM, NO ONE CAN GET OUT MANUALLY AND ELECTRONICALLY FROM THE INSIDE. TOOK IT TO DODGE AND THEY CLAIM IT'S THE WIRE, BUT IT'S NOT BECAUSE THE WIRE IN GREAT CONDITION, BECAUSE IT'S BEEN REPLACE AND STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. IT'S NOT MOTOR BECAUSE ONCE IN A BLUE MOON IT WOULD OPEN PARTIALLY, BUT IT WOULD CLOSED AUTOMATICALLY IMMEDIATELY. I HAVE FILE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS TO DODGE BUT NOTHING WAS DONE. I BELIEVE IT'S ELECTRONIC PROBLEM, WHICH HAS TO DO WITH ECM (ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULAR). PLEASE CONTACT DODGE GRAND CARAVAN TO DILIGENTLY CHECK INTO THIS SAFETY ISSUE. THANK YOU. *TR
AFTER FUELING THE VEHICLE, PULLING OUT FROM THE GAS STATION, THE VAN STALLS VIOLENTLY: LOSES POWER, LURCHES & SURGES. THIS HAS BECOME INCREASINGLY SEVERE, MOST RECENTLY NEARLY CAUSING A COLLISION WHEN THE VAN STALLED OUT AS WE WERE LEAVING THE GAS STATION IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. THE PROBLEM IS THE VAPOR/LIQUID SEPARATOR VALVE LOCATED AT THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK. THE VALVE IS DESIGNED TO PREVENT LIQUID FUEL FROM ENTERING THE CHARCOAL CANISTER/EMISSIONS SYSTEM. WHEN THE VALVE FAILS, LIQUID GAS CAN ENTER THE LINE AND FILL THE CHARCOAL CANISTER. AFTER REFUELING THE PCM ON THE VEHICLE DETECTS A CHANGE IN FUEL LEVEL. THEN, WHEN THE ENGINE MEETS CERTAIN TEMPERATURE AND DRIVING CRITERIA, THE PCM ISSUES A PURGE COMMAND TO THE CHARCOAL CANISTER TO REMOVE THE STORED GAS VAPORS. IT?S AT THAT POINT THAT ALL THE LIQUID GAS IN THE LINE GETS SUCKED INTO THE CHARCOAL CANISTER. THE PCM EXPECTS TO SEE GAS VAPORS ENTERING THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND IT IS PREPARED TO ADJUST AIR/FUEL MIXTURES TO COMPENSATE. HOWEVER, IT IS NOT PREPARED TO SEE LIQUID GAS COMING INTO THE INTAKE. THAT?S WHAT CAUSES THE ENGINE TO STALL. UNFORTUNATELY, THE ONLY FIX IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE GAS TANK. CHRYSLER DOES NOT SELL THE VAPOR/LIQUID VALVE AS A SEPARATE UNIT. WE ARE NOW AT NEARLY 100,000 MILES, AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTS AND CONTINUES TO GET MORE SEVERE. I HAVE CALLED DODGE, BUT THEY SAY THERE IS NO EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE FUEL TANK/EVAPORATION CANISTER. *TR
WHEN I FILL UP MY VAN, THE VEHICLE WILL START HOWEVER AFTER A FEW MINUTES AND I AM ON THE HIGHWAY THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF. HAVE HAD TO SEVERAL MECHANICS LOOK AT THE VAN, AND NO ONE KNOWS WHAT THE ISSUE IS. I TRY TO RIDE AROUND THE GAS STATION PARKING LOT TO INSURE THE VAN IS GOING TO RUN BECAUSE I HAVE HAD SEVERAL CLOSE CALLS WHEN THE VEHICLE SHUTS DOWN WHEN I AM TRYING TO CROSS TRAFFIC. I WILL THEN HAVE NO BRAKES, POWER STEERING, ETC. THE VAN SHUTS COMPLETELY OFF. I USUALLY ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE ISSUE. *TR
I JUST COMPLETED FILLING UP MY VEHICLE WITH REGULAR GASOLINE. ABOUT 100 YARDS FROM THE FILLING STATION, MY VAN STUTTERED AND STALLED. IT DOES THIS EVERY TIME I FILL IT UP. IT STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND IT LOOKS LIKE IT IS THE RESULT OF A FAILED COMPONENT OF THE EMISSIONS SYSTEM AND A PRETTY COMMON PROBLEM WITH CHRYSLER/DODGE VANS. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWO MOMENTS LATER. THE MALFUNCTION ONLY OCCURRED AFTER REFUELING. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. VEHICLE STALLS IMMEDIATELY AFTER FILLING GAS TANK COMPLETELY. I LET PUMP TURN OFF AUTOMATICALLY AND DO NOT OVERFILL. HAS HAPPENED REPEATEDLY IN TRAFFIC AND IS DANGEROUS. I HAVE A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE NOT A GM VEHICLE, I HAVE EXPERIENCE THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE IGNITION AS HAS BEEN REPORTED ON THE GM VEHICLES. I HAVE HAD SEVEN INCIDENTS. THE ISSUES INVOLVES VEHICLE LOSING ALL POWER. ALL GAUGES WILL DROP TO ZERO AND STEERING WILL BE LOST. I HAVE HAD TO SWITCH THE VEHICLE OVER TO NEUTRAL AND PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. UPON SHUTTING OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE STARTS FINE. AFTER HEARING ABOUT THE GM RECALL, I TOOK ALL EXCESS KEYS OFF OF MY KEY CHAIN. I HAVE NOT ENCOUNTERED THE PROBLEM SINCE. HOWEVER, THIS IS VERY CONCERNING TO ME. AT ONE TIME, I WAS TURNING AROUND A CIRCULAR MONUMENT AND ALMOST COULD NOT MAKE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IN NEUTRAL. I FEAR THAT THIS IGNITION ISSUE IS AFFECTING MORE VEHICLES THAN JUST GMS. *TR

AFTER ABOUT 7 OR 8 ATTEMPTS THE CAR WOULD NOT CRANK AND SOLENOID CLICKED. TOWED HOME. CAR SET CODES P0339 AND P0344(INTERMITTENT CRANK AND CAM SENSOR). CHARGED BATTERY . REPLACED BOTH SENSORS CAR INITIALLY WOULD NOT START, THEN MYSTERIOUSLY FIRED UP AND RAN FINE. OK FOR ABOUT A MONTH. BATTERY TESTED OK CHARGING VOLTAGE GOOD WHEN RUNNING. NOT RELATED TO HAVING JUST (OVER)FILLED GAS TANK. (MUCH ON INTERNET ABOUT THIS: BAD VALVE IN TANK ALLOWS EVAP TO FLOOD) 2ND OCCURRENCE. ONCE AGAIN DRIVING ON HIGHWAY HOT DAY. ONCE AGAIN STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. SAME SYMPTOMS ON ATTEMPTED RESTART. AFTER WAITING ABOUT 15 MINUTES, CAR RESTARTED, RAN ABOUT 4 MILES AND STALLED AGAIN. ATTEMPTED FOUR OR FIVE RESTARTS, THEN BATTERY APPEARED TO RUN DOWN. HEADLIGHTS WOULD DIM ON START ATTEMPT. AFTER A WHILE THE CAR STARTED AGAIN BUT RAN ROUGHLY ON ACCELERATION. ONCE AGAIN SET SAME CODES. AT THIS POINT I NOTICED SOME ELECTRICAL ANOMALIES. UPON KEY ON, THE TEMP, FUEL, AND TACH GAUGES WOULD PEG HIGH AND THEN FALL BACK TO NORMAL. THE POWER WINDOWS BEGAN TO OPERATE WITHOUT THE KEY ON. TOW TRUCK ARRIVED AND GOT IT HOME. CAR RESTARTED IN GARAGE. REPLACED BOTH SENSORS AGAIN AND BATTERY (SUSPECTED INTERMITTENT OPEN). 3RD OCCURRENCE ON TEST DRIVE GOT ABOUT 5 MILES AND ONTO HIGHWAY. ONCE AGAIN STALLED. THIS TIME RESTARTED, TURNED AROUND AND GOT ABOUT 2 MILES THEN QUIT AGAIN. THIS TIME NO RESTART( SAME 2-3 SECONDS). THIS TIME SET CODE P0344 ONLY(CAM SENSOR INTERMITTENT). CAR RESTARTED LATER BACK IN SHOP. RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET HAS GOT ME THINKING ABOUT THE TIPM (TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE)
THE POWER LOCKS HAVE QUIT WORKING ON THE REAR SLIDING DOORS WHERE MY CHILDREN SIT. NO WAY TO UNLOCK DOORS FROM OUTSIDE TO REMOVE CHILDREN IN CASE OF ACCIDENT. THE DOORS WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE UNLESS MANUALLY PULLED UP. THIS IS A VERY VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH DODGE. ONLY ONE MANUAL KEY HOLE TO UNLOCK VAN ON DRIVERS DOOR. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS FOR PASSENGERS ESPECIALLY CHILDREN. *TR
AFTER REFUELING, VEHICLE STALLED WHEN ACCELERATING FROM STOP LIGHT. WAS ABLE TO IMMEDIATELY RESTART. THIS HAPPENS APPROXIMATELY 50% AFTER REFUELING AND SEEMS TO BE MORE COMMON/PRONOUNCED WHEN MAKING TURNS AT INTERSECTIONS SOON AFTER REFUELING. SEEMS TO BE LESS FREQUENT IF I REMAIN STOPPED, WITH ENGINE OFF, AT THE GAS STATION (E.G. GO INSIDE FOR PURCHASE). VERY AGGRAVATING AND CONCERNED FOR SAFETY IF STALL OCCURS IN HIGH TRAFFIC AREA. *TR
SPARE TIRE WINCH CARRIER FAILED CAUSING SPARE TIRE TO COME LOOSE. SPARE TIRE STRUCK THE LEFT REAR WHEEL AND CAUSED A BLOW OUT. INSPECTION OF THE WINCH REVEALED A FRAYED STEEL CABLE WITH THE ENTIRE "DOG BONE", CARRIER ASSEMBLY, AND SPARE TIRE MISSING. SPARE TIRE AND CARRIER ASSEMBLY WAS NOT ABLE TO BE RECOVERED. *TR
VEHICLE STALLS INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING SHORTLY AFTER FILLING UP WITH FUEL. VEHICLE CONTINUES TO STALL PERIODICALLY WITHOUT ANY KNOWN CONSISTENCY. MY 5-YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS STRAPPED INTO THE BUILT-IN BOOSTER SEAT IN THE MIDDLE BENCH. ON IMPACT, THE WHOLE BENCH CAME OUT OF THE FLOOR AND FLIPPED HER FORWARD AND THEN BACKWARDS. 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN SXT STOW N GO HAVING SEVERAL ELECTRICAL ISSUES. 1. PASSENGER POWER SLIDING DOOR FAILED, REPLACED POWER DOOR MOTOR, LOCK ACTUATOR, AND REPAIRED WIRING AS THE WIRES ACTUALLY BREAK/SNAP OVERTIME. POOR DESIGN. 2. LESS THAN TWO YEARS LATER PASSENGER POWER SLIDING DOOR HAS FAILED AGAIN, & POWER LOCKS WILL NOT WORK, & I CAN OPEN PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR AFTER LOCKING VEHICLE WITH KEY FOB AND ALARM WON'T SOUND! CANNOT GET MY CHILDREN IN AND OUT OF THIS DOOR WITHOUT REACHING IN AND PULLING UP THE LEVER FROM INSIDE (TOO STIFF, MY DAUGHTER ISN'T STRONG ENOUGH). THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND RESEARCHING IT ONLINE SHOWS THAT IT IS WIDESPREAD. 3. POWER SEAT MOTOR HAS FAILED. WE HAVE STOW N GO SEATING. WHILE TURNING RIGHT OUT OF A GAS STATION AT ABOUT 5-10 MPH, THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD AND THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM SEEMED TO FAIL (I.E., THE CAR WAS STEERING RIGHT AND IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO KEEP FROM CONTINUING RIGHT INTO A CURB). THE BRAKES WORKED FINE AND PREVENTED A COLLISION WITH THE CURB. I HEADED FOR A FRIEND'S HOUSE LOCATED NEARBY. 2. APPROXIMATELY 500 - 1000 FEET LATER, WHILE TURNING LEFT AT 15 MPH ONTO A SIDE STREET, THERE WAS ANOTHER UNINTENDED ACCELERATION AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS 'LOCKED' LEFT (I.E., THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM AGAIN SEEMED TO FAIL). THE BRAKES ON AND THE CAR COLLIDED WITH THE CURB AT A LOW SPEED (1-3 MPH). HAD TRAFFIC BEEN COMING DOWN THE ROAD, A CAR HEADING TOWARD ME WOULD HAVE HIT THE SIDE OF MY CAR. 3. APPROXIMATELY 500 FEET DOWN THAT STREET, WHILE TURNING LEFT ONTO ANOTHER SIDE STREET, THE ENGINE REVVED AGAIN FOR A SECOND, AND RETURNED TO NORMAL. THE STEERING AND BRAKES WERE NOT ADVERSELY AFFECTED. 4. I PROCEEDED SLOWLY DOWN THAT STREET FOR A DISTANCE OF ABOUT 200 FEET AND WAS SLOWING DOWN TO PARK ALONG THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE STREET. WHILE GOING ONLY ABOUT 2 MPH, THE CAR REVVED HARD AGAIN, AND LURCHED FORWARD ABOUT 3 FEET UNTIL I COULD STOP THE CAR. I STAYED AT THE FRIEND'S HOUSE FOR 3 HOURS. 5. A SERVICE STATION WAS NEARBY AND I DROVE SLOWLY TOWARD IT. THE CAR MADE A TOTAL OF 3 RIGHT TURNS AND 2 LEFT TURNS WITHOUT INCIDENT. HOWEVER, WHEN JUST STARTING TO MAKE A 4TH RIGHT TURN, THE ENGINE REVVED AND THE POWER STEERING SEEMED TO FAIL AGAIN. I STOPPED THE CAR AND TURNED OFF THE IGNITION. I PROCEEDED A HALF MILE TO THE REPAIR STATION (WITH 3 LEFT TURNS AND 1 RIGHT TURN), WITHOUT INCIDENT. *TR

MY 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY AND MY 4 YR OLD WAS ABLE TO SHIFT THE VAN OUT OF PARK INTO NEUTRAL WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE BRAKE OR STARTING THE VEHICLE. THE VAN COASTED DOWN THE DRIVEWAY, ACROSS THE STREET AND CAME TO REST IN THE NEIGHBOR'S YARD ALL THE WHILE WITH MY 4 YR OLD IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT. I WOULD ESTIMATE THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING UP TO 10MPH DOWN THE SLOPED DRIVEWAY. NO INJURY OR DAMAGE LUCKILY OCCURRED. SUBSEQUENTLY, THE DODGE DEALERSHIP STATES THE SHIFT INTERLOCK SOLENOID FAILED. THE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT COVER UNDER WARRANTY. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A RECALL ISSUE SINCE THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND HAS BEEN THE PREVIOUS SUBJECT OF NHTSA INTERVENTION WITH THE AUTOMAKERS. *TR
