THE WIRELESS KEY ENTRY WENT BAD, THE AC LEAKED ON MY FAN INSIDE THE CAR, THE KEY NOW GETS STUCK IN THE ACCESSORY POSITION HAVE TO WAIT A WHILE TO REMOVE. NOW THE RADIATOR FAN WILL NOT TURN ON. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY THE WORST VEHICLE I HAVE EVER OWNED. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBERS: 10V611000 (EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:AIR CONDITIONER) AND 11V394000 (AIR BAGS:FRONTAL). THE CONTACT HAD BEEN ON THE WAITING LIST TO HAVE HER VEHICLE REPAIRED UNDER THE RECALL SINCE JULY 2011. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO UNDERSTAND WHY THE RECALL REPAIR PARTS WERE TAKING EXTREMELY LONG TO BE SHIPPED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. POWETRAIN-AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. 1. MADE GRINDING NOISE WHEN IN DRIVE OR REVERSE GEARS 2. OCCURRED ALL THE TIME UP UNTIL THE TRANSMISSION FINALLY GAVE OUT. 3. TEARDOWN OF AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND REBUILD/REPLACEMENT OF "THRUST BEARINGS" AND OTHER PARTS DETERMINED BY THE DEALERSHIPS SERVICE DEPARTMENT. *TR
DRIVER SIDE REAR BRAKE CALIBER MECHANISM. I HAS THE CALIBER REPLACED IN MARCH AND HAD NEW BREAK PADS AND ROTORS INSTALLED. I DROVE ABOUT LESS THAN 3000 MILE AND HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN AGAIN. IN THIS LAST EPISODE I HAVE PAID OUT $1300 IN JUST PARTS, NOT TO MENTION LABOR COSTS, AND TWO $100 TOW BILLS AND THE PROBLEM IS STILL NOT FIXED. I HAVE REPLACED THE ENTIRE BREAK CALIBER FULLY LOADED MECHANISM AND DROVE 20 MILES AND HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED DUE TO THE BREAK CALIBER FREEZING AGAIN. THIS ISSUE IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD CAUSE DEATH OF MYSELF MY PASSENGERS, AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD. I BOUGHT THIS CAR USED TO GET BACK AND FORTH TO WORK AND FAMILY EVENTS. I GOT THIS CAR BECAUSE OF IT SIZE AFFORDABLE FOR ME AS A SINGLE MOTHER OF THREE LIVING ON A FIXED INCOME. I THOUGHT BECAUSE IT WAS NEWER THAT I WOULD BE ABLE TO DRIVE IT FOR AWHILE BEFORE MAJOR ISSUES WOULD HAPPEN. I HAVE ONLY THIS CAR A YEAR AND HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE IT MORE THAN 20 MILES BEFORE HAVING IT TOWED TO A GARAGE SINCE THIS LAST ISSUE. I HAVE HAD THE PAD AND ROTORS REPLACED TWICE BECAUSE OF IT IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS. THIS LAST TIME I HAD TO TOW IT TO MY HOME AS I CANNOT PUT ANY MORE MONEY INTO IT YET I STILL HAVE 6 YEARS OF PAYMENTS LEFT. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY THE MANUFACTURER. IF THEY CANNOT FIX IT THAN THEY NEED TO GIVE ME A NEW VAN. *TR
FRONT HUB BEARINGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT 47,155 MILES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS AND MAKING A RIGHT TURN, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE WITHIN A FEW MINUTES. WHEN SHE CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE IT SUDDENLY STALLED A SECOND TIME AND WAS TOLD BY A DEALER THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE BATTERY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. A FEW MONTHS LATER THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED HER THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR HAD COMPLETELY BURNED OUT WHICH CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 39,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO FIX AT 2 DEALERSHIPS. POSSIBLE PROBLEM FROUNT MODULE BUT NO PART AVAILABLE NATIONWIDE TO EVEN TRY TO FIX IT. I WANTED TO REGISTER A COMPLAINT ABOUT THE BRAKES ON OUR 2008 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THEY ARE NOT DESIGNED PROPERLY FOR THE VEHICLE THEY ARE ON, AS THEY ARE HAVING TO BE REPLACED EVERY 3,000 - 4,000 MILES. CHRYSLER KNOWS IT IS AN ISSUE, BUT THEY WILL NOT OFFER AN EFFECTIVE SOLUTION. THEY BLAME IT ON OUR DRIVING STYLE, BUT THAT IS NOT CORRECT. WE CURRENTLY OWN A FORD TAURUS WHICH IS DRIVEN MORE THAN THE VAN, AND THE BRAKES LAST 40,000 MILES PLUS. WE HAVE OWNED 10-15 CARS IN OUR DRIVING LIFE, AND THEY ALL HAVE THE BRAKES REPLACED AROUND 40,000 MILES. THE CARAVAN ALSO HAS TO HAVE THE REAR BRAKES CHANGED QUITE OFTEN, WHICH TYPICALLY ONLY HAPPENS 1 TIME IN THE 100,000 MILE LIFE OF OUR OTHER CARS. I DID A GOOGLE SEARCH FOR "BRAKE LIFE EXPECTANCY", AND THE THIRD LINK PULLED UP WAS THE FOLLOWING FORUM WHERE MANY OTHER DRIVERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. I HAVE COMPLAINED MANY TIMES OF MY VAN NOT STARTING. IT HAS ONLY BEEN DOCUMENTED 3 TIMES, AND EACH AND EVERY TIME I BRING IT IN THE MECHANIC TELLS ME THERE IS NO FAULTY CODE. THE FIRST TIME IT IS DOC. WAS OCT. 12 2009, SECOND WAS JULY 23 2010. THE LAST ONE THAT WAS DOCUMENTED WAS JUNE 1 2011. THEY WANTED TO TOW IT IN, IN THE MEANTIME MY HUSBAND GOOGLED THE PROBLEM AND TOLD ME TO TURN THE CAR ON, APPLY BRAKE AND SHIFT TO N, THEN TURN OFF AND RESTART. THIS DID HELP AND I WAS ABLE TO START THE VAN. IT WAS 'DEAD MANS SWITCH'. THEY STILL DID TOW IT IN AND SURPRISINGLY WERE NOT ABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM. THEY TOLD ME NEXT TIME TO NOT START IT LIKE THAT AGAIN AND JUST GET IT TOWED IN AGAIN. WHEN I WENT TO PICK MY VAN UP THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS A 'PENDING' RECALL. SO WITH THREE KIDS, A HUSBAND WHO TRAVELS FOR WORK AND I HAVE TO WAIT TO HAVE A SOLID RECALL. THIS HAS BEEN A HUGE WAIST OF MY TIME AND IS VERY FRUSTRATING AND WORRISOME. EACH AND EVERY TIME I HAVE BROUGHT MY VAN IN THEY HAVE TOLD ME THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. I HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS MATTER AT LEAST 6-7 TIMES. MY DOORS HAVE ALSO LOCKED ON THEIR OWN AND THE REMOTE START WILL FAIL OFTEN, THEY HAVE REPLACED MY KEYS, BUT THAT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR

2008 DODGE CARAVAN SE... BRAKE CALIPER SEIZED UP. CAUSED PREMATURE WEAR AND TEAR ON BOTH THE BRAKE PAD AND ROTOR. VEHICLE BEGINS TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AT 30 MPH+. THE CALIPERS CAUSE BRAKES TO WEAR OUT BETWEEN 8000 MILES TO 14000 MILES, FAR SOONER THAN NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR WOULD CAUSE. DEALERSHIPS ARE REPAIRING FAULTY CALIPERS UNDER "GOOD WILL" TICKETS, WHICH ARE TREATED LIKE A WARRANTY REPAIRS IN RESPECTS TO CHARGES TO THE VEHICLES OWNER. TECHNICIANS AT THE DEALERSHIP ALLUDED THAT THE 2008 AND 2009 MODEL YEAR FOR DODGE CARAVANS AND CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY VANS ARE KNOWN FOR SEVERE BRAKE PROBLEMS. SEIZED CALIPERS CAN ALSO CAUSE SEVERE SHIFTS IN THE STEERING WHILE BRAKING, WHICH COULD CAUSE COLLISIONS OR ACCIDENTS. THIS PROBLEM IS WIDELY KNOWN TO OWNERS WHO HAVE REPORTED IT TO MANY WEBSITES AND DEALERSHIPS. *TR
WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE IN WISCONSIN DRIVING AT ABOUT 65 MPH, THE LEFT REAR BRAKE ON MY DAUGHTER'S VAN SUDDENLY SEIZED. WHEN I PULLED OFF THE INTERSTATE, THE ENTIRE WHEEL WAS TOO HOT TO TOUCH AND THERE WAS A STRONG BURNING SMELL. FORTUNATELY THERE WAS A CHRYSLER DEALER RIGHT THERE. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE LEFT REAR CALIPER 'HUNG UP' ON THE BRAKE. THEY SAID THAT THE CALIPER ADAPTER WAS NEW TO THIS MODEL (2008), THAT THEY HAVE SEEN THIS BEFORE AND THAT CHRYSLER HAS A NEWER DESIGN BUT THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE PADS, CALIPERS AND ROTORS ON BOTH REAR BRAKES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY CLEANED AND LUBRICATED THE BRAKES AND I CONTINUED TO CHICAGO TO HAVE THE REPAIRS DONE THERE. LATER MY DAUGHTER TOLD ME THAT IN APRIL 2011, THE SAME THING HAD HAPPENED BUT ON THE RIGHT REAR BRAKE. AGAIN THIS WAS ON THE INTERSTATE. SHE HEARD A VERY LOUD SQUEALING. AFTER TAPPING THE BRAKES A FEW TIMES THE SOUND WENT AWAY AND SHE CONTINUED. THIS IS WHY THE DEALER SAID THAT THE RIGHT REAR BRAKE PADS, CALIPERS AND ROTOR ALSO NEEDED REPLACEMENT. WORSE, MY DAUGHTER'S BROTHER-IN-LAW BOUGHT THE SAME MODEL CARAVAN IN 2008. ON A TRIP TO VIRGINIA, ALSO ON THE INTERSTATE, THEIR BRAKES SEIZED IN THE SAME MANNER. WHEN WE GOT TO CHICAGO, I TOOK THE VAN INTO ROESCH CHRYSLER IN ELMHURST ILLINOIS. THEY REPLACED THE CALIPERS UNDER WARRANTY BUT CHARGED ME TO REPLACE THE PADS AND ROTORS. THE FACT THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE ON MY DAUGHTER'S VAN, THAT IT ALSO HAPPENED ON HER BROTHER-IN-LAW'S SAME MODEL/YEAR VAN, THAT THE CALIPER DESIGN WAS NEW IN 2008, THAT SINCE THEN A NEW CALIPER DESIGN HAS BEEN RELEASED ' LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT THE ORIGINAL CALIPER/BRAKE DESIGN IS DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. MOREOVER, CHRYSLER SHOULD HAVE RECALLED THESE VEHICLES AS A SAFETY ISSUE GIVEN AN OVER HEATED WHEEL COULD HAVE CAUSED A HIGH SPEED BLOWOUT.

THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO A DEALER AND THEY ADVISED HER THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH THE KEY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE ELECTRICAL CONTROL MODULE AND A NEW KEY WAS PROVIDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS THEN CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED TO REIMBURSE THE CONTACT FOR HER EXPENSES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,400.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THEIR MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE DISCHARGE HOSE. FRONT BRAKES WORN OUT AT 18K MILES - NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY - NOT CONSIDERED DEFECTIVE? PADS GONE - ROTORS HEAVILY GROOVED. *KB
THE HEADLIGHTS WILL RANDOMLY GO OUT. ONCE IN A WHILE SWITCHING TO HIGH BEAM WILL HELP FOR A VERY SHORT TIME, BUT USUALLY I AM COMPLETELY WITHOUT LIGHTS WHEN IT HAPPENS. THERE IS NO WARNING. THE RUNNING LIGHTS DO NOT EVEN WORK ANYMORE WHEN THAT HAPPENS. I HAVE BEEN IN A NUMBER OF EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS BECAUSE OF THIS. I END UP HAVING TO HOPE I CAN FIND A PLACE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD, WITHOUT BEING HIT FIRST, AND TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON AGAIN UNTIL THE LIGHTS FINALLY WORK. NOTHING ELSE STOPS WORKING, JUST THE LIGHTS. THERE ARE SO MANY COMPLAINTS ALL OVER THE INTERNET FOR SO MANY DIFFERENT MODEL YEARS I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS HASN'T BEEN RECALLED YET. *TR
MY 2008 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN HAS THE FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS GOING OUT. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY DODGE HAS NO RECALL ON THIS. THE SHOP WERE IT IS BEING REPAIRED STATED THAT DODGE HAD A RECALL ON ANOTHER VAN FOR THE WHEEL BEARINGS AND THEY ARE THE SAME BEARINGS AND SAME PART NUMBER FOR MY VAN. *TR
THE BRAKES ON OUR 2008 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN SXT COMPLETELY RUSTED AT 26,500 MILES. AS OF 5/26/2011. PRIOR TO THAT (05/27/2010) THE BRAKES RUSTED AND LOCKED AT 19,844. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED ON A PLATFORM TRUCK BECAUSE TIRES, WHEELS ASSEMBLIES WERE COMPLETELY LOCKED AT THAT TIME. BRAKES HAVE BEEN PULSATING AND STARTED TO MAKE HARMONIC SOUNDS IN THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT. BRAKES WERE SPONGY WITH THE PULSATING CREATING VIBRATION IN STEERING WHEEL. HAVE FORMALLY FILED A COMPLAINT TO CHRYSLER. CLERK AT CHRYSLER INDICATED UNUSUAL NUMBER OF CALLS BUT NO DETAIL, JUST THAT THEY'RE EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES INVOLVING DODGE CARAVAN AND TOWN AND COUNTRY. VAN IS AT DEALER BEING REPAIRED AT THIS TIME. *TR
THIS IS AN ON GOING PROBLEM WITH OUR MINI VAN. THE VEHICLE SHUTS ITSELF OFF FOR NO APPARENT REASON WHILE IN GEAR. WE HAVE THE WIN MODULE REPLACED AS HAS BEEN RECALLED IN NEW MODELS, BUT THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. AS A FAMILY WE ARE CONCERNED FOR OUR SAFETY WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. INTERNET RESEARCH HAS TURNED UP CLUES THAT CHRYSLER KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM AND IS REFUSING TO ACT ON A SOLUTION.
WHILE DRIVING OUR 2008 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN SXT WITH A 4.0 ENGINE THE ENGINE JUST STALLS WHILE DRIVING AND THE VEHICLE LOSES ALL POWER, BRAKES AND STEERING! MY WIFE CAME HOME FRIDAY(3/11/11) COMPLAINING THAT HER FRONT BRAKES WERE MAKING A GRINDING NOISE. SO THE FOLLOWING DAY I JACKED THE 2008 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN UP TO INSPECT FOR A PROBLEM AND FOUND THAT BOTH FRONT BRAKE ROTORS WERE WORN DOWN WITH METAL TO METAL CONTACT FROM THE BRAKE PADS. THE VAN HAS ONLY 29,000 MILES ON IT. BACK DURING OCTOBER WE GOT A LETTER FROM DODGE STATING WE NEEDED TO BRING OUR VAN IN FOR A BRAKE INSPECTION FOR THE FRONT BRAKES BECAUSE THERE WERE ISSUES OF PREMATURE FRONT PAD FAILURE SO WE COMPLIED. AT THAT TIME THEY NOTICED NO PROBLEM,BUT NOW I HAVE TO REPLACE BOTH FRONT ROTORS AND FRONT PADS ON A VEHICLE THAT ONLY HAS 29,000 MILES. MARCH 8, 2011; VEHICLE WAS AT DEALER FOR SERVICE,WHILE PERFORMING THE SERVICE THE RIGHT REAR TIRE, PRESSURE SENSOR FELL APART.THIS WAS REPLACED WITH A NEW SENSOR. OTHER SENSORS IN THE OTHER THREE TIRES WERE NOT CHECKED AT THAT TIME. JUNE 5, 2011; COMPUTER WARNED OF LOW TIRE PRESSURE, I ATTEMPTED TO PUT AIR INTO LEFT FRONT TIRE, TOOK THE CAP OFF, PUT THE AIR NOZZLE ON AND THE VALVE STEM BROKE OFF. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I FOUND OUT HOW TO CHANGE A FLAT TIRE. JUNE 6, 2011; I WENT TO A LOCAL TIRE DEALER, SNOW TIRES REMOVED, TO BE REPLACED WITH SUMMER TIRES. THE TECHNICIANS REPORTED THAT TWO OF THE SENSORS, VALVE STEM ASSEMBLY CAME APART. I REQUESTED STANDARD VALUE STEMS TO PUT IN 3 OF THE TIRES.I FEEL THIS IS SAFER, SEEING THAT THE VALVE STEM IS NOW, A ONE PIECE UNIT. NOT SOMETHING THAT TWO PIECES OF METAL THAT ARE ADHERED TOGETHER AND DON'T STAND A CHANCE IN OUR CLIMATE. I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE DOWN THE ROAD, IT HAD BEEN ABOUT 10 MINUTES SINCE I HAD LEFT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF MY LOCAL DODGE DEALER TO HAVE MY A/C SERVICED. MY REAR BRAKES HAD BEEN SERVICED LESS THAN 6,000 MILES PREVIOUSLY AND HAD BEEN CHECKED THE NIGHT BEFORE BY A JUST BRAKES TECHNICIAN. AS I WAS DRIVING I BEGAN TO HEAR SOME SQUEALING. WHEN I STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT I NOTICED A HUGE AMOUNT OF SMOKE POURING OUT OF THE REAR OF MY CAR. I WAS ABLE TO ACCELERATE ENOUGH TO COAST IN TO THE JUST BRAKES SHOP WHERE TECHNICIANS LOOKED AT MY VEHICLE AND DISCOVERED A TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE OF MY REAR BRAKES. THE TEMPERATURE HAD REACHED SO HIGH THAT THE ASSEMBLY ITSELF WAS WHITE HOT AND SMOKING. HAD I NOT BEEN CLOSER TO THE SHOP MY BRAKES MIGHT HAVE FAILED BECAUSE THE PADS WERE TOTALLY DESTROYED WHEN THEY TOOK THEM OFF. I HAVE THE OLD PADS IN MY POSSESSION. *TR
DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT FRONT AND REAR BRAKES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. MINIVAN IS NOT DRIVEN IN THE CITY, NO STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, MAJORITY OF MILES WERE DONE ON THE INTERSTATE.
THE VAN HAS SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 7 TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR. THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF AND THERE IS NO POWER TO THE BRAKES OR STEERING. THERE ARE NO ERROR LIGHTS THAT DISPLAY ON THE DASH. ONCE THE CAR IS STOPPED AND PLACED IN PARK THE ENGINE IS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED. THERE IS A BIG SAFETY CONCERN WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
MY 2008 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN HAS HAD NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH THE REAR PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR. THE DOORS BELT WHICH HOUSES AND PROTECTS THE WIRING THAT CONTROLS THE BUTTON & MOTOR WOULD BECOME LOOSE AND CAUSE THE DOOR TO POP BACK OPEN. DUE TO THIS ISSUE CONSTANTLY HAPPENING IT CAUSED THE PLASTIC CASING WHICH HOUSES THE RECALL PINS AND METAL WIRE THAT OPEN AND CLOSES THE DOOR TO CRACK AND EXPOSE THE METAL RECALL PIN. ONCE THE PLASTIC COVERING WAS FULLY CRACKED WHICH BY THE WAY HAPPENED AT THE DEALERSHIP IN FRONT OF A SERVICE MANAGER. THE DOOR THEN BECAME STUCK OPEN. WE COULDN'T EVEN CLOSE IT MANUALLY. I HAD HOPED THIS ISSUE WOULD HAD BEEN IN THE ORIGINAL DOOR RECALL SINCE THE WIRE STRAP HAD TO BE ZIPPY TIED DOWN. AND THE SAME WIRING HARNESS THAT NEEDED TO BE ZIPPY TIED DOWN DUE TO IT BECOMING LOOSE IS THE CAUSE OF THE BREAK, I AM VERY VERY UPSET WITH THIS ISSUE. ESPECIALLY THAT DOOR BEING THE MAIN DOOR MY YOUNG CHILDREN 8,4,AND 2 USE FOR SCHOOL. THE DOOR IS TO HEAVY FOR MY CHILDREN TO OPEN AND CLOSE BY THEMSELVES.. I HAVE NOT ONCE HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY DRIVER SIDE REAR PASSENGER DOOR. WE HAVE HAD TO GET OUR FRONT PADS REPLACED AND FRONT ROTORS RESURFACED AT 20,306 MILES AND CHRYSLER SENT OUT A FRONT BRAKE LIMITED WARRANTY EXTENSION SO WE RECEIVED A REFUND BACK MINUS THE 50.00 DEDUCTIBLE FOR THIS REPAIR. HOWEVER NOW WE'VE HAD PROBLEMS WITH OUR REAR CALIPERS & REAR BRAKES WHICH WE WOULD LIKE TO HAVE OUR REPAIR REFUNDED OR A RECALL DONE ON THIS MATTER. HERE IS THE INFO: FIRST COMPLAINT:--THE REAR CALIPERS SEIZED WHICH CAUSED THE SECOND COMPLAINT-- THE PADS WORE OUT QUICKLY. THE TIRE VALVE STEM TIPS (THE END METAL PART), WHICH ARE INTEGRAL WITH THE TPMS, BREAK OFF LEADING TO A SUDDEN AND COMPLETE LOSS OF AIR FROM THE TIRE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE ON TWO DIFFERENT TIRES ON OUR 2008 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. ONCE AT ABOUT 25K AND THE SECOND TIME AT 33K. THE DODGE DEALERSHIP SAYS THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE BUT WILL NOT COVER IT UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
WHEN CHECKING TIRE PRESSURE ON VEHICLE, THE REAR PASSENGER VALVE STEM BROKE IN HALF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE THREADS. UPON EXAMINATION, THE CAUSE OF THE BREAK WAS CORROSION OF THE METAL VALVE STEM. THE THREE OTHER VALVE STEMS ARE ALSO CORRODED. CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS CONTACTED, BUT NO HELP WAS GIVEN. THE VALVE STEM AND TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR ARE A ONE PIECE UNIT SO CHANGING THE VALVE STEMS AT THE TIRE CHANGE IS NOT PRACTICAL ($50-75 PER TIRE). DUE TO THE CORROSION AND RESULTING SAFETY CONCERN, ALL FOUR VALVE STEMS AND TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR WILL BE REPLACED AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $200. THE CORRODED VALVE STEM IS AVAILABLE FOR EXAMINATION. IF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY, A MAJOR ACCIDENT COULD HAVE RESULTED. *TR
