AFTER CHANGE THE IDLER PULEY DRIVING BACK ROOM CAR OVERHEATING
TIPM MODULE MALFUNCTIONING. WIPERS AND HORN WILL GO OFF RANDOMLY, TRANSMISSION WILL DISENGAGE AT THE SAME TIME. POWER STEERING SHUTS OFF AS WELL DURING EPISODES WHILE DRIVING! I HAVE HAD TO STOP ON THE FREEWAY WITH MY KIDS IN THE CAR AND RESTART THE CAR.
TAKATA RECALL - DOES THIS VEHICLE HAVE RECALLED TAKATA INFLATORS?
THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE. MY DOORS UNLOCK AND LOCK WHILE I'M DRIVING. MY WIND SHIELD WIPERS GO ON BY THEMSELVES AND MY DOOR DING GOES OFF WHILE I'M DRIVING AND ALL DOORS ARE SECURELY CLOSED. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT KEEPS BEING BROUGHT UP AND IGNORED FOR SEVERAL DRIVERS, NOT JUST MY FAMILY. WHEN I STOP THEY WILL DO IT ALSO BUT MORE OFTEN THAN NOT ITS WHEN I OR OTHERS ARE DRIVING.
ON THE 24TH OF AUGUST, THE CAR WAS TAKEN IN FOR REPAIRS RELATED TO SEVERAL RECALLS INCLUDING THE IGNITION AND AIR BAGS. AFTER THE WORK WAS DONE, THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER SPEAKING TO A MECHANIC OVER THE PHONE, AN APPOINTMENT WAS MADE FOR SEPTERMBER 9TH. HOWEVER WHEN THE CAR WAS BROUGHT IN TO BE LOOKED AT, THE EMPLOYEE I SPOKE TO WOULD NOT ACCEPT THE PROBLEM AS PART OF THE RECALL WORK AND WANTED TO CHARGE A DIAGNOSTIC FEE. I HAVE SINCE HAD THE CAR CHECKED BY A DIFFERENT MECHANIC WHOSE OPINION IS THAT THE PREVIOUS WORK DONE ON THE CAR IS WHAT IS CAUSING THE CURRENT AIR BAG PROBLEM, AND THEREFORE I WOULD LIKE THE WORK TO BE DONE WITHOUT COST TO ME AS PER THE WARRANTY ON THE RECALL WORK.
CAN TURN ON HEADLIGHTS, THEN ONE GOES OUT, BLINK OFF AND ON THEN GO OFF COMPLETELY OR DON'T COME ON AT ALL WHEN TURNED ON. HAPPENS WHEN STATIONARY OR IN MOTION. SWITCH IS GOOD. HEADLIGHTS REPLACED. HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE MECHANIC THAT I HAVE TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE TIPM (TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE) THAT TESTED BAD. HAVE READ MULTIPLE REPORTS OF THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN DRIVING!

WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN PARK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE I'VE HAD THE ESP/BAS AND TRAC LIGHT COME ON AND THE VEHICLE WILL SHUT DOWN. I'VE HAD IT TO THE SHOP TWICE AND THEY CAN'T GET IT TO REPLICATE WHAT IT'S DOING. THE CAR JUST SHUTS OFF--THE POWER STEERING IS GONE, I CAN'T ACCELERATE OR KEEP MOVING AT CONSTANT SPEED. THE CAR IS COMPLETELY OFF AND CONTROL IS BARELY POSSIBLE. IT CAN HAPPEN ANYWHERE, INCLUDING AT STOP SIGNS, DRIVING ALONG THE ROAD, THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION, WHICH MAKES IT A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES BOTH CITY AND OPEN ROAD AS WELL AS WHEN PARKING IN A SPOT.
TIPM COMPLETELY FAILED, LOCKING MY TRANSMISSION IN "LIMP MODE" AND ALSO AFFECTING DOORS AND WINDOW CONTROLS. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HYWY I LOSS SPEED INSTANTLY MAKING IT NECESSARY TO PULL ONTO THE MEDIAN TO PREVENT ACCIDENT.
WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE IT HAS JUST COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AND YOU CAN PUT ON THE BRAKES OR TURN AND IT CAN CAUSE A VERY BAD ACCIDENT. THE HOLE VAN JUST COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY IN MOTION.
IN REFERENCE TO RECALL 11V-139, THE WIRELESS IGNITION MODULE, (WIN), IN THIS VEHICLE HAS EXHIBITED SYMPTOMS OF EARLY FAILURE AND EVENTUAL PERMANENT FAILURE. IT WOULD ALLOW THE FOBIK TO RELEASE INTO THE ACCESSORY POSITION, RESULTING IN THE CESSATION OF MOVEMENT AND OTHER VEHICLE FUNCTIONS ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. IN RESPONSE, LAST YEAR, CHRYSLER NOTED THAT PARTS ARE BACK ORDERED AND ONLY VEHICLES RENDERED INOPERABLE OR DANGEROUSLY IMPAIRED WERE CURRENTLY BEING SERVICED. THIS SITUATION HAS NOT IMPROVED, THE WIN MODULE HAS COMPOUNDED ITS DYSFUNCTION OVER THE COURSE OF THE PRECEDING YEAR. THE WIN MODULE WILL NO LONGER RECOGNIZE EITHER FOBIK, AND ONLY THE ODOMETER WILL LIGHT UP WHEN A FOBIK IS PUT IN RUN POSITION, RENDERING THE VEHICLE INOPERABLE. THE WIN MODULE DESIGN IS PRONE TO FAILURE BEYOND RELEASING THE FOBIK, IT MAY ALSO EVENTUALLY FAIL TO RECOGNIZE IT, PERHAPS AS A SYMPTOM ON CONSTANT DISCONNECTION OR DEEPLY FLAWED DESIGN. THE SITUATION WITH THE BACKLOG OF REPAIRS ALSO APPEARS TO BE WORSENING: FCA US REPRESENTATIVES HAVE ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THE BACK ORDER OF PART 68241076AC MAY BE AS MUCH AS FOUR WEEKS, EVEN FOR A VEHICLE NOW RENDERED INOPERABLE. I REQUEST THAT THE RECALL BE EXTENDED FURTHER STILL, TO INCLUDE PERMANENT OR PERSISTENT FAILURE OF THESE MODULES. SUCH A CONDITION GRANTING ELIGIBILITY FOR THE CONSUMER TO RECEIVE A RENTAL VEHICLE FOR THE DURATION OF THE REPAIR, AND A REEXAMINATION OF THE MODULE DESIGN FOR THE CAUSE AND PROBABILITY OF PERMANENT FAILURE.
INTERMITTENT ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS - REPLACED TIPM AT MY OWN EXPENSES. 6 MONTHS LATER, VEHICLE WOULD NOT START, NO ELECTRICAL POWER - ONLY SECURITY LIGHT FLASHING. TOOK TO FIRESTONE, THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE, THEN TOWED TO CHRYSLER DEALER - COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING, RECONNECTED TIPM CONNECTIONS, VEHICLE STARTED AND RAN OK. THERE ARE MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WITH THIS DESIGN/GENERATION OF THE TIPM (AS SEEN IN FORUMS) - EVEN HAD TO CHANGE AT MY OWN EXPENSE, STILL HAVE RANDOM/INTERMITTENT ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS - IS THIS VEHICLE SAFE TO DRIVE - WILL THE AIRBAGS WORK, IF NEEDED? WHY HAS THIS VEHICLE NOT BEEN RECALLED AND THE TIPM REPLACED/REDESIGNED - THIS IS A MASSIVE SAFETY ISSUE WITH THESE MINIVANS!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE CONTACT NOTICED A FOUL ODOR IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT OPENED THE HOOD AND OBSERVED COOLANT LEAKING. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS LEAKAGE FROM THE "V NECK". THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000.

I RECEIVED THE RECALL IN THE MAIL AND WENT TO THE DODGE DEALER OVER A YEAR AGO AND NEVER HEARD A THING FROM THEM AGAIN. RECALL R03 / NHTSA 14V-373. SOMETIMES I HAVE TO PUT THE VAN IN NETURAL TO START THE VAN. IT STOPPED ON ME WHILE I WAS OUT (PARKED) AND FIRESTONE ADVISED ME TO START THE VAN THIS WAY BECAUSE NOTHING WAS WRONG OTHERWISE. SOMETIMES MY REAR WINDOW WILL CLOSE ITSELF.

AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A LARGE ROCK AND THE VEHICLE LANDED IN A DITCH. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V373000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP (WITHNELL DODGE, IN SALEM, OR) THERE ARE NO OPEN RECALLS FOR MY VEHICLE. EXCEPT THE AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF ALL THE TIME, AND BASED ON MY RESEARCH, THERE USED TO BE A RECALL FOR THE AIRBAG MODULE: RECALL NUMBER: 16V047000 / RECALL DATE: 01/29/2016 / COMPONENT: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL. I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE SINCE 2009, AND AS FAR AS I KNOW, THE AIRBAG CONTROL UNIT HAS NEVER BEEN REPLACED AS IT STATES IN THE RECALL. I ASKED THE DEALERSHIP TO CHECK AND CONFIRM THE AIRBAG CONTROL HAS BEEN REPLACED, BUT THEY REFUSED UNLESS I WAS WILLING TO PAY FOR THEM TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE, AND I DON'T BELIEVE THIS RECALL HAS BEEN PERFORMED EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE RECORD SHOWS THERE IS NO OPEN RECALLS. I BELIEVE MY VEHICLE HAS THE PROBLEM LISTED IN THE RECALL, AND I WOULD LIKE FOR DODGE TO REPAIR (FREE OF CHARGE) AS STATED IN THE RECALL.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY TO 60 MPH. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, WHICH DISENGAGED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.

FREQUENTLY WILL NOT START-HAVE TO RAISE HOOD & SMACK TOP OF BLACK BOX & THEN IT WILL START, WILL GO "CRAZY" WHILE PARKED WITH NO KEYS IN IGNITION-HORN HONKS, LIGHTS FLASH ON & OFF, WIPERS GO & FLUID SPRAYS-AGAIN HAVE TO SMACK BOX TO MAKE IT STOP. BETWEEN 5/2/16 & 5/18/16, WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, FOUR TIMES THE MOTOR HAS SHUT ITSELF OFF, HORN HAS BEGUN HONKING, WIPERS GO, FLUID SPRAYS, RUNNING LIGHTS GO OFF. ***DID IT TWICE ON 5/18/16! THANK GOD, WAS GOING SLOWLY DOWN A SIDE STREET-AGAIN HAD TO RAISE HOOD, SMACK ON TOP OF THAT BLACK BOX-FUSES AND SENSORS MUST BE IN THERE-AND IT STOPPED ACTING CRAZY AND RESTARTED. MY HUSBAND HAS BEEN DRIVING IT AS I REFUSE TO!! VERY SURPRISED AND CONCERNED THAT THERE HAS NOT BEEN RECALL AS THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY FREQUENT ISSUE WITH THESE VANS-WISH I HAD NEVER BOUGHT MINE!
THIS VAN DIES WHILE IN OPERATION, MOST OFTEN WITHIN THE FIRST 5 MILES OF DRIVING IN THE MORNING. IT HAS GOTTEN TO THE POINT WHERE IT HAPPENS EVERY SINGLE DAY, SOMETIMES MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY. IT APPEARS TO HAPPEN MOST FREQUENTLY WHEN DECELERATING (UPON TAKING OUR FOOT OFF THE GAS, THE TACHOMETER BOUNCES WAY DOWN (~500RPM OR SO), THEN STUTTERS A BIT, THEN THE VEHICLE STALLS/DIES. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE TURNING AT AN INTERSECTION SEVERAL TIMES, AND WE NARROWLY ESCAPED A COLLISION. WE HAVE HAD 2 KEY FOB RECALLS PERFORMED, AS CHRYSLER HAD ATTRIBUTED THE PROBLEM TO FAULTY FOBS/IGNITION SWITCHES....THE MOST RECENT RECALL WAS PERFORMED LESS THAN 6 MONTHS AGO. NO CHANGE WAS NOTED AFTER THE RECALL WORK WAS PERFORMED. THE PROBLEM RARELY HAPPENS ON THE HIGHWAY, ALTHOUGH IT DID HAPPEN TO MY WIFE LAST WEEK WHILE SHE WAS AT HIGHWAY SPEED ON THE INTERSTATE. I'M LISTING TODAY'S DATE IN THE FIELD OF "WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN?", AS IT DID HAPPEN TO ME TODAY WHILE IN AN INTERSECTION, TURNING LEFT - I IMMEDIATELY SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND RESTARTED IT, NARROWLY MISSING THE CAR TO MY RIGHT WHICH WAS ALSO TURNING LEFT...BUT IT HAPPENS VIRTUALLY EVERY DAY NOW.
CAR HAS HAD AN ACTIVE RECALL ON IT FOR TWO YEARS. DEALER WAS MADE AWARE, BUT HAS YET TO MAKE ANY CHANGES TO THE VEHICLE. THANKFULLY, I HAVE NOT HAD ANY MAJOR ACCIDENTS THESE LAST TWO YEARS.
CAR DIES WITHOUT WARNING. ACCELERATION, STEERING AND BRAKING COMPROMISED AND DANGEROUS. HAPPENS RANDOMLY, WHEN STOPPING, WHEN ACCELERATING WHEN CRUISING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. ENGINE HOT AND COLD. NEW IGNITION INSTALLED AS PART OF RECALL PROGRAM AND THE PROBLEM HAS GOTTEN WORSE SINCE THE "FIX".

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
MY VAN WAS SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY. I USED THE KEY FOB TO ATTEMPT TO UNLOCK THE DOORS AND INSTEAD THE HORN STARTED HONKING, WIPERS GOING, WASHER FLUID SPRAYING AND LIGHTS FLASHING. IT DID NOT STOP AND THE DOORS WOULD NOT UNLOCK. I HAD TO USE THE HIDDEN KEY IN THE KEY FOB TO MANUALLY UNLOCK THE DOOR TO OPEN THE HOOD AND DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. I RECONNECTED IT AND ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE IT TO MY MECHANIC. IT STALLED AFTER ABOUT 50 FEET. I ENDED UP BEING ABLE TO DRIVE IT TO THE MECHANIC FOUR DAYS LATER. MY MECHANIC SAID IT HAD 6 RECALLS ON IT (WHICH I WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF) AND NEEDED THE TIPM REPLACED, WHICH WAS NOT A PART OF A RECALL. HE SAID CHRYSLER WOULD NOT ALLOW HIM TO BUY THE PART AND I WOULD HAVE TO TAKE IT DIRECTLY TO THE DEALER. HE SAID THE PART IS $780 AND DOES NOT INCLUDE LABOR! I CANNOT AFFORD THIS AND I NEED THIS VEHICLE! I HAVE THREE KIDS! I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND SAW THAT THIS PART ON MY VAN WAS A PART OF A LAWSUIT. VAN HAS BEEN STALLING OUT SINCE I HAVE OWNED IT. I PURCHASED NEW IN 2008. IT IS AT SECOND DEALER PERFORMING RECALL FOR THE IGNITION FOR THE SECOND TIME. I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH DODGE . AFTER HAVING TO SCHEDULE A APPOINTMENT WITH A DIFFERENT DEALER AND WAIT FOR A SERVICE DATE OF 6/20/16. THE VEHICLE IS AT THE NEW DEALERSHIP I 77 RIPLEY. THEY ARE REDOING THE RECALL FROM A YEAR AGO THAT DUTCH MILLER HAD PERFORMED. THIS IS THE FOURTH WEEK THEY HAVE BEEN WORKING ON THE VEHICLE AND RECALL PROBLEM. I HAVE REQUESTED MANY TIMES FOR A RENTAL CAR AND BOTH THE LIFETIME WARRANTY I PURCHASED WITH THE VAN AND DODGE HAVE BOTH REFUSED TO PROVIDE ME A VEHICLE. I HAVE BEEN SINCE MARCH 26, 2016. WITHOUT A VEHICLE AND I HAVE HAD TO BORROW CARS FROM FAMILY AND BEG FOR RIDES BECAUSE DODGE CAN NOT OR WILL NOT FIX MY RECALL ON MY VAN .I HAVE BEEN VERY PATIENT WITH THIS SITUATION BUT SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. CAR JUST QUITS RUNNING AT ANY TIME. RECALL WAS DONE TO FIX SOME CONTROL MODULE AND NEW FOBS. NOT FIXED.
THE VAN ENGINE SHUTS DOWN WHILE IN DRIVE. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES WITH IN A WEEK. IT HAS SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY AT AN INTERSECTION. EVEN THE HAZARDS WOULD NOT COME ON TO SHOW OTHER DRIVERS THAT I WAS BROKE DOWN. I RECEIVED A NOTICE LAST YEAR ABOUT A RECALL FOR THE IGNITION MODULE AND I WAS PUT AN A LONG WAIT LIST TO HAVE IT FIXED. ON JANUARY 3, 2016 I HAD THE RECALL TAKEN CARE OF AT SHERWOOD SERVICE IN SALISBURY, MD. I HAVE NEVER HAD THE ENGINE FAILURE HAPPEN BEFORE HAVING THE RECALL FIXED, AND NOW, IT IS HAPPENING. WHEN THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN THE LAST TIME, MY HUSBAND WHO WAS DRIVING HAD TO CALL THE POLICE TO DIRECT TRAFFIC AROUND THE VAN UNTIL THE TOW TRUCK GOT THERE SO HE WOULD NOT BE HIT! IT BLOCKED AN INTERSECTION FOR 30 MINUTES UNTIL THE VAN WAS TOWED AWAY, WHEN THE VAN GOT HOME ON THE TOW TRUCK, IT STARTED UP WITH NO PROBLEM. EVERY TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED, THE VAN HAS BEEN IN GEAR AND DRIVING WHEN IT COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN AND IT HAS EITHER GONE OVER A SMALL BUMP OR BEEN TURNING. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO ADD THAT I HAD AN APPOINTMENT WITH SHERWOOD CHRYSLER IN SALISBURY, MD TODAY(3/22/21) AND THEY SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH MY VAN AND TRIED SEND MY HUSBAND HOME IN THE VAN WITHOUT FIXING THE PROBLEM! HE INSISTED THAT THEY DRIVE IT (WHICH THEY WOULD NOT DO TODAY) TO SEE IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THEY STILL HAVE MY VAN.
A FEW WEEK AGO, IN THE MORNING WHEN ME AND THE WIFE HAD JUST DROPPED ONE OF OUR CHILDREN OFF AT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, GOT BACK INTO THE CAR, TURNED IT ON AND STARTED TO DRIVE AWAY; THE CAR DID A HARD JERK MOTION AND THEN ALL THE LIGHTS CAME ON. SO THE NEXT I TOOK OUR VAN TO FIRESTONE BECAUSE CAUSE MY ABS, BRAKE, ESP AND OTHER BREAKING INFORMATION LIGHTS CAME AND THEIR WAS A STRANGE NOISE COMING FROM THE FROM DRIVER SIDE OF THE CAR ALL AT THE SAME TIME. WHEN FIRESTONE TECH FOUND THE PROBLEM HE TOLD ME THAT THE ABS SYSTEM WAS FAULTY AND I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT DODGE COMPANY KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM BUT IS NOT A SAFETY RECALL. SO FOR A SMALL PART THAT HELPS WITH THE SAFETY OF MY FOUR YOUNG CHILDREN AND WIFE I PAID 675 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. AND AT THIS DATE AND TIME MY VAN IS NOW SETTING AT TRANSMISSION SHOP SO THAT I CAN FIND OUT IF THE ABS GOING OUT SOME HOW DID SOMETHING TO MY TRANSMISSION.
SEPT 2015-MY ENGINE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AT 25MPH AND THE HORN AND WIPERS WENT CRAZY. I WAS ABLE TO PULL CAR TO SIDE OF ROAD SAFELY. FEB 2016- TOOK VAN IN FOR RECALL FOR NEW KEY FAB. THE FOLLOWING WEEK THE CAR WENT CRAZY WHEN I PUSHED UNLOCK BUTTON TO GET INTO THE VEHICLE USING THE NEW KEY FAB. HORN WENT OFF, WIPERS SQUIRTING FLUID AND DOORS LOCKED ON ME EXCEPT FOR THE REAR HATCH. TOOK INTO DEALER THEY CHANGED THE CLOCK SPRING. MARCH 2016- VEHICLE WENT CRAZY AGAIN (HORN, WIPERS, DOORS) I GOT INTO VEHICLE THROUGH REAR HATCH, UNLOCKED HOOD, TURNED KEY TO START TO SEE IF I COULD UNLOCK, CAR STARTED. I TRIED TO TURN OFF AND ENGINE KEPT GOING WITHOUT KEY IN IGNITION. I GOT OUT DISCONNECTED BATTERY CABLE AND THE VEHICLE. WAS STILL GOING CRAZY AND THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES. I TOOK VEHICLE INTO DEALER THEY FIRST STATED IT NEEDED NEW BATTERY CABLES.. I TOLD THEM THAT WILL NOT FIX THE ISSUE.. IT IS MORE THAN THAT. KEEP THE VEHICLE UNTIL YOU FIND THE REAL SOLUTION. NOW THE DEALERSHIP IS TELLING ME IT IS THE INTEGRATED POWER MODULE ($950) ON TOP ON THE CLOCK SPRING THAT THEY REPLACED FOR ($550). I FEEL LIKE THE DEALERSHIP IS JUST REACHING FOR SOLUTIONS AND ION THE MEANTIME I HAVE TO KEEP PAYING FOR THEIR TESTING.

WHILE IN MOTION, THE VAN WILL COMPLETELY LOSE POWER FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THERE ARE NO WARNINGS, STRANGE SOUNDS OR ANY INDICATOR THAT IT IS ABOUT TO SHUT OFF. THE CAR JUST SHUTS OFF--THE POWER STEERING IS GONE, I CAN'T ACCELERATE OR KEEP MOVING AT CONSTANT SPEED. THE CAR IS COMPLETELY OFF AND CONTROL IS BARELY POSSIBLE. IT CAN HAPPEN ANYWHERE, INCLUDING AT STOP SIGNS, DRIVING ALONG THE ROAD, THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION, WHICH MAKES IT A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE. ONCE IT IS IN PARK, IT CAN BE RESTARTED, USUALLY AIDED BY PUMPING THE GAS, AND THEN IT GOES ON AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED. HOWEVER, SHIFTING INTO PARK ISN'T ALWAYS AN OPTION WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON, SO NO ERROR CODE IS PRODUCED. IT HAS BEEN TAKEN TO A DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER TWICE, BUT THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT AND CANNOT BE DUPLICATED EASILY, SO THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO FIX, TELL US NOTHING IS WRONG AND SEND US ON OUR WAY. IT IS ALARMING THAT THEY DON'T GIVE MORE URGENCY TO FINDING A SOURCE, CONSIDERING THAT THE CAR TURNS OFF WHILE DRIVING. OUR IGNITION SWITCH/KEY HAVE BEEN REPLACED AFTER THE RECALL, WHICH WE WERE HOPING WAS THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT IT WAS NOT. IT IS STILL OCCURRING. I HAVE DONE AN INTERNET SEARCH AND IT SEEMS THAT THIS PROBLEM IS NOT UNIQUE TO ME. OTHER DRIVERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. MINIVANS OFTEN CARRY CHILDREN IN THEM. IF THIS PROBLEM WERE TO OCCUR IN A BUSY INTERSECTION, THE RESULTS COULD BE DEVASTATING. I URGE YOU TO SEEK A SOLUTION/SOURCE TO THIS PROBLEM QUICKLY! I WISH WE COULD SIMPLY GO BUY A NEW CAR TO KEEP OUR FAMILY SAFE, BUT UNFORTUNATELY, THAT ISN'T OUR REALITY, AS WE ARE STILL WORKING TO PAY OFF THIS ONE, SO WE ARE HOPING THE PROBLEM WILL BE RESEARCHED AND RESOLVED PROMPTLY. THIS IS NOT A ONCE IN A WHILE SITUATION BUT HAPPENS CONSTANTLY. ONCE YOU START THE CAR AND SHIFT FROM PARK TO DRIVE, IT WILL SHIFT DOWN WHILE STOPPED OR AS DESCRIBED ABOVE WITHIN TEN SECONDS. DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITIONS. CHRYSLER SAYS NOT COVERED BY LIFETIME POWERTRAIN WARRANTY AND SAY IT CAN BE FIXED AT MY EXPENSE. UNFORTUNATELY, IT CAN HAPPEN ANYTIME TO ANYONE AND SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL ON ALL VEHICLES SIMILARLY EQUIPPED.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 178,800.

WHILE DRIVING THE VAN SHUTS OFF AND LOOSES ALL POWER TO INCLUDE POWER BRAKES AND STEERING. ALSO THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON. THE FOLLOWING HAS BEEN COMPLETED TO FIX THE PROBLEM WITHOUT THE PROBLEM BEING RESOLVED: REPLACEMENT OF BATTERY AND CHECK OF BATTERY CABLES, RECALL COMPLETE OF WIN MODULE, REPLACEMENT OF O2 SENSORS AND EGR VALVE, AND CHECK OF ALL FUSES AND WIRING. AFTER ALL OF THE AFOREMENTIONED REPAIRS THE VAN STILL SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING. WHEN THE VAN SHUTS OFF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON AND THERE ARE NO CODES PRESENT FOR THE MECHANIC TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM. THIS ISSUE IS AN EXTREME SAFETY ISSUE AND IT APPEARS THERE ARE NUMEROUS REPORTS I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO LOCATE ON THE INTERNET. MY WIFE WILL NOT DRIVE THE VAN NOT BECAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. WHEN THE VAN SHUTS OFF YOU CAN PLACE IT IN PARK AND RESTART THE VAN AND CONTINUE TO DRIVE. THE VAN HAS SHUT OFF ON ME WHILE I HAVE BEEN DRIVING IT AND THERE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE ANY INDICATOR THAT IT IS GOING TO SHUT DOWN, IE STUTTERING OR IRREGULAR OPERATION. THE SPEED THAT THE ISSUE HAS OCCURRED RANGES FROM 20 MPH TO 55 MPH.
ALL THE ELECTRONICS IN MY CAR STARTED GOING CRAZY. MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS (BOTH FWD AND AFT) STARTED, WHILE THE WASHER FLUID WAS BEING DISPENSED, THE CAR HORN WAS BLARING, AND THE ELECTRONIC DOOR LOCKS WERE VERY RAPIDLY BEING CYCLED. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE CAR STALLED. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT BEING HIT OR CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THE DODGE DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED IT AS A BAD TOTALLY INTERGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM) AND REPLACED IT. APPARENTLY, IT DISTRIBUTES ELECTRICAL POWER TO ALL THE SYSTEMS IN THE VEHICLE. SO, WHEN THE CAR STALLED IT WAS DUE TO POWER BEING CUT OFF TO THE FUEL PUMP. I COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN KILLED, DUE TO THE SUDDEN LOSS OF ENGINE POWER OR ANOTHER ELECTRICAL COMPONENT SUCH AS THE AIR BAG, BRAKE, OR TRACTION SYSTEM COULD HAVE BEEN AFFECTED.

I'VE BEEN TRYING TO GET THE PARTS FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH RECALL SINCE JUNE 2015, AND MY LOCAL DEALER KEEPS TELLING ME THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. FCA KEEPS SENDING ME NOTICES, AND I FIND IT DISGUSTING THAT ANYONE SHOULD WAIT OVER NINE MONTHS FOR THE PARTS FOR THIS VITAL RECALL.
