TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED AS THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT AND RESUMED NORMALLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE EGR VALVE HAD FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURE WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 81,000.
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED ON ITS OWN, WHILE ALSO LOSING ALL ABILITY TO STEER OR BRAKE. ALL POWER CONTROL TO STEERING, BRAKING AND MANEUVERING WAS LOST, ALTHOUGH THE ENGINE DID NOT APPEAR TO SHUT OFF. THE FIRST INCIDENT CAUSED MY WIFE TO END UP IN A DITCH WITH THE CHILDREN IN THE CAR. CHRYSLER AND THEIR DEALERSHIPS WILL NOT SAY THIS IS RELATED TO THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN # 14V373000/ CHRYSLER L25 RECALL BECAUSE THE ENGINE DID NOT APPEAR TO SHUT OFF. WHETHER PART OF THE RECALL OR NOT, THESE PROBLEMS ARE SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES FOR MY FAMILY AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD. ADDITIONALLY, CHRYSLER DOES NOT HAVE PARTS AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL AND WERE NOT ABLE TO PROVIDE AN AVAILABILITY ETA FOR REPLACEMENT PARTS. I WAS ALSO TOLD BY CHRYSLER THAT I HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE RECALL, AND AS SUCH, THEY HOLD NO LIABILITY FOR ME DRIVING THE VEHICLE UNTIL REPLACEMENT PARTS AVAILABLE. *JS

THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
VEHICLE IGNITION SHUTS OFF WHEN IN USE WHILE DRIVING CAUSING DANGEROUS SITUATIONS ESPECIALLY WHILE IN INTERSECTIONS, HAVE HAD NEAR MISS SITUATIONS DUE TO THIS PROBLEM, CHRYSLER SAYS MY VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THEIR REALLY, MINE WAS MADE THREE MONTHS PRIOR TO THEIR RECALL OF IGNITION SWITCHES THAT WERE RECALLED FOR 2009 MODEL DODGE GRAND CARAVAN'S, THEY DO NOT WANT TO REPLACE MY VEHICLES IGNITION SWITCH WHICH IS DOING THE SAME THING THAT GM CARS AND RECALLED CARAVAN'S ARE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO START. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V373000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE PARTS NEEDED WERE UNAVAILABLE TO PERFORM THE REPAIRS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000.

THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A SPECIFIC DATE FOR WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND COULD NOT PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED DATE FOR WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD RECEIVE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT DID NOT EXPERIENCE A FAILURE.
IN OCTOBER OF 2013 I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP EXPLAINING TO THEM MY CAR STALLS WHEN IT COMES TO AN INCLINE IN THE ROAD I'M TALKING MERE INCHES, NOT CLIMBING UP GIGANTIC HILL. SINCE OCTOBER IT HAS CONTINUOUSLY STALLED OUT ON ME, TO GO SO FAR AS TO JUST STOPPING AT A RED LIGHT. IF I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN, THE ENTIRE VEHICLE STARTS SHAKING AND FEELS AS THOUGH THE TIRES ARE TRYING TO GRIP THE ROAD AND THERE IS A JUMPING AND JOLTING SENSATION. MY CAR CUTS OFF AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK SINCE OCTOBER. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO RUN A DIAGNOSTIC, BUT THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. OF COURSE THEY'RE WILLING TO TAKE THE ENTIRE CAR APART AND CHARGE ME FOR IT BUT I CAN'T AFFORD THAT! WHAT'S HAPPENING TO MY VEHICLE IS FROM A MANUFACTURE DEFECT. LOW TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH PULLED OVER TO CHECK TIRE WHILE CHECKING THE TIRE PRESSURE IN TIRE THE TPMS SENSOR/VALVE STEM BROKE CAUSING ALL OF THE AIR TO ESCAPE FROM THE TIRE. *TR
ALL THE DASH LIGHTS / ELECTRONICS GO OFF AND COME BACK ON INTERMITTENTLY ALONG WITH THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS TURNING ON AND OFF AT THE SAME TIME. THE POWER DOORS DO NOT WORK RELIABLY EITHER AS THEY HAVE CLOSED RANDOMLY WHILE OPEN. IT'S VERY DISTRACTING WHILE DRIVING AND WE FEEL IT PUTS US AT RISK OF AN ACCIDENT, OR WORSE, WHEN IT OCCURS. DEALERSHIP HAS PROBLEMS DIAGNOSING IT DO TO THE INTERMITTENT NATURE, BUT CAN PULL OFF BUNCHES OF CODES, WHEN HOOKED UP TO THEIR SCAN TOOL. HOWEVER, NONE OF THE ERROR CODES POINT TO WHAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM, JUST THAT A PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED. THEY REPLACED THE TPIM MODULE, BUT THAT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM AND THEY HAVE PRETTY MUCH GIVEN UP.. *TR
3 WEEKS PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT STARTING SO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP ORDERED A WIN . IT TOOK THREE WEEKS TO GET THE PART(WIN). WE GOT THE VAN BACK AND NOW IT IS STARTING TO HAPPEN AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THEY HAVE TO GO THROUGH CHRYSLER TO ORDER THE PART BECAUSE THEY BASICALLY QUIT USING THE MANUFACTURER AND ARE USING A NEW ONE NOW . NOW, WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL ON THIS PART? COST OF ALL SO FAR HAS BEEN 680.00 . THIS INCLUDES TOW, PART AND LABOR. THE PROBLEM IS STILL NOT FIXED. *TR
WHILE CHECKING THE TIRE PRESSURE IN A CUSTOMER'S TIRE THE TPMS SENSOR/VALVE STEM BROKE CAUSING ALL OF THE AIR TO ESCAPE FROM THE TIRE. THE TIRE WAS REPAIRED FOR $45. *TR
WHILE ON A 500 MILE TRIP THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL BEARING OVERHEATED AND CAUSED WHEEL TO SEIZE UP ON THE HIGHWAY. HAD TO HAVE VEHICLE REPAIRED OUT OF TOWN AND INCURRED MOTEL EXPENSES FOR THE NIGHT OF THE BREAK DOWN. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V373000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, AIR BAGS) HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE WIRELESS CONTROL MODULE HAD FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. OUR GRAND CARAVAN IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME ELECTRICAL PROBLEM THAT THE 09 RAM TRUCKS AND 09 JOURNEY'S EXPERIENCED. OUR DRIVER DOOR CONTROLS FOR THE MIRRORS, THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER WINDOWS, DOOR LOCKS, AND WINDOW LOCKS ARE NOT WORKING. I CONTACTED OUR LOCAL DODGE DEALER WHO TOLD ME THAT OUR VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. GIVEN THAT THE RAM AND THE JOURNEY HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THE CARAVAN CAN BE ADDED TO IT. *TR
CAR SHUT OFF IGNITION SWITCH WENT FROM RUN TO ACCESSORY. MULTIPLE OCCURRENCES RANGING FOR 30 FEET TO ABOUT 1/2 MILE OUT OF DRIVEWAY. OCCURRENCES WERE ALWAYS AFTER FIRST STARTING UP. I HAD A HEAVY KEY CHAIN WITH A LEATHERMAN MICRO ATTACHED. I REMOVED THE LEATHERMAN, AND DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY AND SPRAYED SILICONE IN IGNITION SWITCH AND CYCLED MULTIPLE TIMES. I HAVE NOT HAD AN OCCURRENCE SINCE. I DID NOTICE THAT THE 2010 WAS RECALLED FOR THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM I WAS EXPERIENCING. REFERENCE RECALL IS PASTED BELOW. THIS IS ALSO THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AS THE RECENT GM RECALL. RECALL DATE: MAR 01, 2011 MODEL AFFECTED: 2010 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN SUMMARY: CHRYSLER IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010 DODGE JOURNEY, GRAND CARAVAN, AND CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY VEHICLES MANUFACTURER FROM AUGUST 3, 2009, THROUGH JUNE 17, 2010. SOME VEHICLES MAY EXPERIENCE INADVERTENT IGNITION KEY DISPLACEMENT FROM THE RUN TO ACCESSORY POSITION WHILE DRIVING CAUSING THE ENGINE TO SHUT OFF. AM HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE AS THE K14 RECALL. BUT AM BEING TOLD THAT IS ONLY FOR POWER DOORS. LAST YEAR I CHANGED A NEW THE SLIDING DOOR WIRING HARNESS BUT STILL AM HAVING THE SAME ISSUE,BY OPENING AND CLOSING THE DOOR IT BROKE THE CENSOR CLIP AND THEN BROKE THE PLASTIC COVER ON TOP OF WIRE KNOW THE WIRE IS BEING DAMAGED MY FRONT WINDOWS ARE NOT WORKING THE AIR BAG SENSOR NOT WORKING. AND THAT EXACTLY BECAUSE OF THE HINGE WHICH IS BREAKING THE PLASTIC COVER WHILE UR SLIDING THE DOORS. *TR

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, WHO PERFORMED A SOFTWARE UPDATE BUT THE REPAIR DID NOT REMEDY THE DEFECT. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND FILED A COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 126,000.
ON JULY 2, 2013 THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT WENT ON. I WENT TO PUT AIR IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT TIRE. THE VALVE STEM BROKE OFF RESULTING IN A FLAT TIRE. I HAD THE VALVE STEM REPLACED AT A COST OF $140.00. ON AUGUST 20, 2013 THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AGAIN. I TOOK IT BACK TO GOOD YEAR. THEY TOLD ME THE TWO VALVE STEMS ON THE PASSENGER WHEELS, FRONT/BACK WERE VERY CORRODED. THEY DID MANAGE TO FILL BOTH TIRES FOR ME. THE LIGHT WENT OFF. TWO DAYS LATER, THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. I WENT TO FILL THE TIRES AND THE ONE VALVE STEM BROKE OFF, ANOTHER FLAT TIRE! PUT ON THE SPARE, DROVE HOME, CALLED AROUND AND HAD TO TAKE IT IN TO BE FIXED AGAIN. $700 LATER, 4 NEW TIRES, ANOTHER TPMS REPLACED, AND AN ALIGNMENT. TWO VALVE STEM ARE STILL IFFY, BUT THEY SAID THEY SEALED OKAY........ I AM NERVOUS ABOUT ALLOWING MY WIFE AND THREE SMALL CHILDREN TO RIDE IN THIS CAR WITH TWO MORE CORRODED VALVE STEMS. WHO KNOWS IF THEY WILL POP OFF AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I'M SEEING OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS. I BELIEVE A RECALL SHOULD BE MADE TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM CORRECTED. ~THANK YOU *TR
THE DRAIN FOR THE AC LEAKS UNDER THE PASSENGER SIDE DASH. A RECALL (K25) WAS ISSUED BECAUSE THE LEAKING WATER CAN AFFECT THE AIR BAG CONTROL. CHRYSLER WILL NOT COVER THIS VEHICLE CLAIMING THE VIN # IS NOT INCLUDED. THE PROBLEM AND SAFETY CONCERNS ARE THE SAME AND THE RECALL SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO COVER ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES. *TR
LAST YEAR WIFE WAS DRIVING VEHICLE ON HIGHWAY DURING VACATION. POWER WAS LOST AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT STEER OR BREAK. VEHICLE WAS DIFFICULT TO RESTART AS IGNITION TURNED OVER THEN SHUT OFF AGAIN. VERY FORTUNATE THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT. THIS HAS SINCE RECURRED TWICE, ONCE WHILE COMING TO A STOP AT A RED LIGHT, AND ANOTHER WHILE EXISTING A PARKING GARAGE. ALSO, VEHICLE CONSTANTLY NEEDS TO BE STARTED TWICE, DOES NOT ALWAYS STAY POWERED UP AFTER INITIAL IGNITION. DID NOT THINK OF FILING A NHTSA COMPLAINT AT THE TIME, BUT WITH THE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF IGNITION PROBLEMS FROM CHRYSLER, WANTED TO MAKE SURE I GOT THIS LOGGED. *JS
VALVE STEM BROKE ON FRONT DRIVERS SIDE TIRE AFTER PARKING IT IN THE DRIVEWAY. TIRE WENT FLAT AND HAD TO REPLACE VALVE STEM, 1 MONTH LATER THE PASSENGER FRONT VALVE STEM BROKE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY CAUSING THE TIRE TO IMMEDIATELY GO FLAT. RESULTING IN REPLACING TIRE AND VALVE STEM. *TR
NUT CAME LOOSE FROM VALVE STEM AND TIRE DEFLATED ON 2 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS WHILE VEHICLE WAS MOVING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A STRANGE NOISE AND NOTICED STEAM RISING FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE RADIATOR WAS CRACKED AND THE INNER HOSES WERE DAMAGED DUE TO PRESSURE BUILD-UP. THE DEALER FURTHER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V046000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND INFORMED THE CONTACT OF OTHER RECALLS AS WELL. THE CONTACT NEVER RECEIVED ANY RECALL NOTICES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,200.
TPM WAS ON. STOPPED TO CHECK TIRE PRESSURE. WHEN WENT TO UNSCREW CAP ON REAR PASSENGER TIRE, AIR STARTED SHOOTING OUT AND TIRE WENT FLAT IN SECONDS. VALVE STEM ASSEMBLY HAD CORRODED AND BROKE OFF IN CAP. IF I WERE DRIVING, MY FOUR CHILDREN AND I COULD BE DEAD. THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT. SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE. DODGE IS USING FAULTY VALVE STEMS, ENDANGERING PEOPLE'S LIVES. *TR
PURCHASED USED 2009 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN SXT IN 2/2013. VEHICLE HAS LOST POWER MULTIPLE TIMES AT VARIOUS SPEEDS (5 MPH TO 35 MPH). EACH TIME IT HAS BEEN TRIGGERED BY A "BUMP" IN THE ROAD (IE. SMALL POTHOLE, RAILROAD TRACKS, ETC. SOMETIMES WHILE TURNING A CORNER, OTHER TIMES NOT). EACH INCIDENT HAS REQUIRED CAREFULLY GETTING TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND PUTTING THE CAR IN "PARK" AND RESTARTING. HAVE ALREADY BEEN TO ONE MECHANIC WHO COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. WILL TRY A DODGE DEALER NEXT. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT DODGE HAS NOT LOOKED FURTHER INTO THIS ISSUE CONSIDERING THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE ALONG WITH THE FACT THAT IT HAS RECALLED THE 2010 MODEL FOR THIS VERY REASON. ALSO, VERY SORRY THAT I TRADED IN A 2001 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN FOR THIS VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURE DATE FOR MY VEHICLE IS 12/08. I HOPE SOMEONE WILL INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE FURTHER. HAVING THE ENGINE LOSE POWER WITH NO WARNING WITH TWO YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE BACKSEAT IS ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING. 2009 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DEFECTIVE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SENSORS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE TECHNICIAN NOTED THAT THE TIRE VALVE STEM MADE OF ALUMINUM, CORRODED AND CAUSED THE RETAINING NUTS TO SPLIT. THE CONSUMER HAD TO REPLACE ALL FOUR TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SYSTEM SENSORS.
LEFT REAR TPMS VALVE STEM CORRODED AND FAILED WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY. TIRE QUICKLY DEFLATED. TIRE DEALER REPLACED TIRE, BUT VALVE STEM WAS TOO CORRODED, SO A REGULAR VALVE STEM WAS USED. TWO DAYS LATER, THE RIGHT FRONT VALVE STEM FAILED, AGAIN WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY. WHILE AT TIRE DEALER, I HAD THEM REPLACE THE OTHER TWO TPMS SENSORS THAT HADN'T FAILED (YET). *TR
VAN HAS BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS STARTING, IT MAKES A CLICKING NOISE BUT THE VAN WON'T TURN ON, YET ALL OTHER ELECTRICAL DEVICES CONTINUE TO WORK PERFECTLY. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS THE VAN WILL EVENTUALLY START, BUT OTHER TIMES WE HAVE HAD TO LEAVE IT OVERNIGHT PARKED DUE TO IT NOT STARTED AFTER TRYING FOR ALMOST AN HOUR. WE REPLACED THE BATTERY, AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. WE TOOK IT TO A DODGE DEALERSHIP AND THE WIN MODULE WAS REPLACED AND A NEW KEY WAS ORDERED AND REPROGRAMMED AT A COST OF ALMOST $1000! A FEW WEEKS AFTER GETTING THE VAN BACK THE PROBLEM STARTED AGAIN AND ONCE AGAIN LEFT ME (PREGNANT) AND MY 2 YOUNG CHILDREN STRANDED IN 101 DEGREE TEMPERATURE. A TECH FROM THE DEALERSHIP MET WITH US THIS MORNING TO LOOK AT THE VAN AND SUGGESTED IT MIGHT BE THE STARTER. WE CAN'T CONTINUE TO PURCHASE PARTS AND PAY FOR LABOR AND YET THE VEHICLE ISN'T WORKING AS IT SHOULD. THIS IS DANGEROUS FOR A PREGNANT WOMAN WITH A NEWBORN ON THE WAY AND TWO YOUNG CHILDREN.
THE VEHICLE SHUTOFF IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION AFTER PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN MOTION AFTER A RED LIGHT TURNED GREEN. THE VEHICLE HAS A HARD TIME STARTING RECENTLY AND WE BELIEVE IT'S DUE TO THE IGNITION RECALL. WE CONTACTED OUR DEALER AND THEY SAID A BAD KEY PROBLEM IS SEPARATE FROM THE WIN MODULE DETENT RING PROBLEM. THEY INVESTIGATED THE PROBLEM AND SAID A BAD WIN MODULE IS THE CAUSE FOR NOT STARTING. MY BELIEF IS THAT THE LOOSE DETENT RING CAUSED A FAILURE OF THE KEY DUE TO A BAD CONNECTION FOR YEARS. I'M ALSO AFRAID WE COULD BE SERIOUSLY INJURED BEFORE THE RECALL AS THIS IS OUR ONLY VEHICLE. WE CALLED DODGE AND THEY SAID NOTHING COULD BE DONE SAFETY WISE FOR US UNTIL THE RECALLED PART IS MANUFACTURED. I ASKED THEM IF THEY COULD PROVIDE US A RENTAL VEHICLE UNTIL THEN THEY SAID NO. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC, WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE VALVE STEM LOCKING NUT WAS CORRODED, CRACKED AND DISINTEGRATED. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE VALVE STEMS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 49,000.

I WAS COMING UP TO SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY TPMS LIGHT CAME ON, 2009 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN SXT, AND I COULD FEEL A SHAKE OF A FRONT TIRE GOING FLAT. I PULLED OVER AND THE TIRE WAS INDEED FLAT, PUT ON THE SPARE AND RETURNED HOME. I PUMPED THE TIRE BACK UP, OR ATTEMPTED TO AND NOTICED AIR COMING OUT THE SIDE OF THE METAL VALVE STEM. I CONTACT CHRYSLER CUSTOMER AFFAIRS NUMBER AND GOT A SONG AND DANCE THAT REQUIRED ME TO GO TO A DEALER TO GET IT INSPECTED BUT NOT REPAIRED, THEN TO RECONTACT CHRYSLER TO SEE IF THEY ARE GOING TO DO ANYTHING. DEALERSHIP SAID IT'S NOT A WARRANTY ITEM AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, AND THAT I SHOULD DO ALL 4 TIRE STEMS AS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM...HELLO, $600 FOR 4 TIRE STEMS, ARE YOU NUTS? THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, I HAVE READ MANY PAGES OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT TOTAL FAILURE OF THESE METAL VALVE STEMS LEADING TO CRASHES AND SEVERELY DAMAGED TIRES DUE TO SUDDEN AND UNEXPECTED FAILURE OF THE POORLY DESIGNED VALVE STEMS. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. I SEE CHRYSLER CHANGED THE DESIGN IN MID 2010 TO A MORE RELIABLE RUBBER DESIGN...HMM, PERHAPS THIS WAS DUE TO ALL THE COMPLAINTS. I WAS JUST STARTING DRIVING AFTER BEING AT A STOP. I USED THE WINDOW CONTROL THAT AUTOMATICALLY ROLLS THE WINDOW COMPLETELY UP. WHEN THE WINDOW REACHED THE TOP, THERE WAS A LOUD POPPING NOISE. AFTER THAT, THE WINDOW STARTED SLOWLY SLIDING DOWN ON IT'S OWN. MY HUSBAND DISASSEMBLED THE DOOR AND REPLACED THE WINDOW REGULATOR. SINCE THAT TIME (10 MONTHS AGO), THE SAME THING HAS HAPPENED A TOTAL OF 3 TIMES. THE BELIEF IS THAT IT IS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM, MAKING THE COMPUTER SYSTEM THINK THAT THE WINDOW ISN'T UP ALL THE WAY (POSSIBLY A SENSOR NOT DETECTING THAT THE WINDOW IS COMPLETELY UP). THE SYSTEM THEN KEEPS TRYING TO ROLL THE WINDOW UP MORE, SNAPPING THE CABLES CONNECTED TO THE REGULATOR. NOT ONLY IS THIS A NUISANCE, IT IS AN EXPENSIVE FIX. IT IS ALSO VERY DISTRACTING WHILE DRIVING AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE LOUD NOISE WHEN IT BREAKS, AS WELL AS TRYING TO KEEP YOUR WINDOW FROM FALLING INTO YOUR DOOR WHILE DRIVING. *TR

ALMOST TO WORK IN MY 2009 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN WHICH IS APPROXIMATELY A ONE HOUR DRIVE AND LIGHT SENSOR CAME ON IN CAR. ONCE GOT TO WORK NOTICED REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE AIR LOW. AT LUNCH TRIED TO FILL WITH AIR BUT COULD NOT BECAUSE THE WAS VALVE GOING INTO THE TIRE. TOOK TO TIRE REPAIR SHOP WHERE THEY INFORMED ME THAT TIRE SENSOR CAP WAS MISSING. THEY COULD NOT TELL ME WHY OR HOW THAT WOULD HAPPEN. THEY HAD TO REPLACE ENTIRE SENSOR AT A COST OF $130. THEN 3 DAYS LATER TIRE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND THIS TIME FRONT PASSENGER TIRE WAS LOW. LOOKED AT TIRE SENSOR CAP AND NOTICE IT WAS CRACKED, CORRODED AND PIECE MISSING FROM CAP. LOOKED AT OTHER TWO CAPS AND THEY ARE BOTH CRACKED AND CORRODED. SO THAT EXPLAINS WHY FIRST CAP WAS MISSING - IT CORRODED AND FELL OFF. SO NOW REMAINING 3 SENSORS NEED TO BE REPLACED. TOOK TO DEALER BUT WAS TOLD NOT COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. SEEMS TO ME IF ALL 4 SENSOR CAPS ARE CRACKED, CORRODED AND FALLING OFF THERE IS A DEFECT AND A RECALL SHOULD BE DONE. LUCKILY I DID NOT HAVE THE AIR LEAK QUICKLY FROM THE TIRE NOR DID IT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT BUT IT EASILY COULD HAVE. *TR
WE WERE WALKING UP TO OUR VEHICLE AND USED THE KEYCHAIN REMOTE TO OPEN THE REAR LIFTGATE. IT WENT ALL THE WAY OPEN AND MY WIFE WALKED UNDERNEATH IT TO PUT SOME THINGS IN THE CAR. AFTER IT WENT ALL THE WAY OPEN, IT STAYED THERE FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN CAME DOWN HARD AND SLAMMED MY WIFE IN THE HEAD. SHE SUSTAINED A SORE NECK AND A HEADACHE THAT HAS SINCE GOTTEN WORSE. I TRIED OPERATING THE LIFTGATE AGAIN WHILE WE WERE CLEAR AND IT DID THE SAME THING. IT WENT ALL THE WAY OPEN, PAUSED FOR 2 SECONDS, AND THEN SLAMMED DOWN HARD ABOUT A FOOT BEFORE IT WENT BACK CLOSED IN A NORMAL FASHION. IT HAS SINCE BEEN REPAIRED BY THE DEALER. THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE 2 HYDRAULIC CYLINDERS FOR THE REAR LIFTGATE. HOWEVER, MY WIFE IS STILL EXPERIENCING NECK PAIN. *TR
THE REAR HEATER DIVERTER VALVE HAS A LARGE CRACK IN IT AND WHILE SEARCHING I SEEN MANY OTHERS THAT HAD THIS PROBLEM. IT SHOULD NOT HAPPEN. IT CAUSES COOLANT LEAKS AND OVERHEATS. *TR

EXITED HIGHWAY (70 MPH) THEN DROVE 55 MPH FOR 3 MILES TO OUR HOME. NOTICED HEAVY BRAKE BURNING SMELL THAT STAYED WITH ME UNTIL ARRIVED AT HOME. NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM DRIVER SIDE REAR WHEEL/BRAKE ASSEMBLY. HUSBAND(EX-ASE MASTER TECH) CAME OUT TO INSPECT AND NOTICED ALL OTHER BRAKES SEEMED OK IN TEMP BUT LEFT REAR WAS EXTREMELY HOT, SMOKING AND ROTOR WAS DISCOLORED FROM OVER HEAT(BLACK/BLUE). NO METAL ON METAL VAN WAS JUST IN LESS THAN 1000 MILES AND DEALER REPLACED FRONT PADS, ROTORS UNDER TSB WITH $100 DEDUCTIBLE. I WAS TOLD AT THIS TIME THAT REARS HAD APPROX 20% PAD LEFT. WAY TO SOON FOR REAR BRAKES TO WEAR OUT (BEFORE 36K MILES?) TOOK VAN INTO ROCHESTER HILLS CHRYSLER DODGE AND THEY STATED ISSUE WAS LEFT REAR BRAKE PAD STUCK IN SLIDES CAUSING OVERHEAT. THEY STATED THAT THE BRAKE BRACKET/CLIP/PADS CLEARANCE IS TOO TIGHT AND DOESN'T TAKE MUCH CORROSION OR BRAKE DUST COLLECTING TO CAUSE STICKING PADS. I AM AWARE OF A NEW CHRYSLER BRAKE BRACKET DESIGN FOR THESE VANS AND THAT THEY ARE ON NATIONAL BACKORDER AT THE TIME OF THIS REPORT AND THAT THE REDESIGN HAS ADDITIONAL CLEARANCE TO ELIMINATE THIS PROBLEM. BUT INSTEAD I WAS CHARGED $174.80 FOR NEW PADS AND TURN BOTH ROTORS. I FEAR THAT THIS ISSUE WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AND WONDER IF IT WILL BE WORSE NEXT TIME (PAD/BRAKE FIRE, BRAKE/WHEEL LOCK UP OR POSSIBLE LOSS OF CONTROL). THIS IS NOT SAFE ESPECIALLY ON A VEHICLE THAT IS PRIMARILY USED TO TRANSPORT KIDS, PEOPLE ETC. LOTS OF FAMILIES OUT THERE WITH THESE. PLEASE HELP! THANK YOU.
TRAVELING DOWN A STREET, THE ESP AND TRACTION WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. CHECKED THE OWNERS MANUAL, IT STATES NOT TO DRIVE OVER 30 MPH WHEN THAT OCCURS IF THE LAMPS CANNOT BE RESET. RESET LAMPS, LAMPS CAME BACK ON, SPEED WAS REDUCED TO 30 MPH AND AFTER TRAVELING A SHORT DISTANCE, WITHOUT TOUCHING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE BRAKES ON BOTH FRONT WHEELS APPLIED AND BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET IN TRAFFIC. THE BRAKES WOULD NOT RELEASE UNTIL THE MOTOR WAS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED. WE WERE NOT HIT BY OTHER VEHICLES, BUT IT COULD HAVE BEEN VERY TRAGIC. WE WERE TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT FAILURE OF THE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR IN THE STEERING COLUMN WILL CAUSE THE BRAKES TO ENGAGE AND STOP THE VEHICLE. THE COST FOR REPLACING THE FAILED SENSOR AND REALIGNING THE SYSTEM WAS $712.45. *TR
UPON DRIVING I NOTICE THE BRAKES SEEMS TO BE STICKING AND OR CALIPERS SEIZING WHILE DRIVING AND ALSO CHANGING THE BRAKES /ROTORS MUCH SOONER THAN SUPPOSED TO ALSO BAD MPG ALL THIS WAS HAPPENING BETWEEN 18 K MILES 25 K MILES AND 38 K AND CURRENTLY 47 K MILES PLEASE THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW FROM CALIPERS STICKING AND BRAKING THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING AND EATING THE PADS PREMATURELY THE CONCERNED CUSTOMER WILL WAIT FOR A RESPONSE BACK THE LOCAL DODGE DEALER WILL NOT TAKE THINGS SERIOUS UNTIL THEY WILL HAVE FATALITY ES THANKS MUCH. *TR
